She is very down to earth. My writing really improved because she took time to read my papers very carefully and make comments. I really like her.

Graduate Seminar. Expected us to know more than necessary, but was quite helpful with teaching researching at the graduate level. She's a nice person, but very demanding, which leads to respect!

She is a very difficult grader and expectes top quality work. Very hard for a 111 level class. But she's a great professor and will teach you what you need to learn. She's also got a great sense of humor and the atmosphere of her class is awesome!

chris is awesome. she's so passionate about teaching and gets her students excited. tests are hard though, you really need to know the material well.

She has high standards, but does everything she can to help her students understand what she expects from them. Plus, she has a wealth of amusing and educational stories about her dogs.

Was my professor for the only english course (other than speech) that i've ever taken at WSU, and she made english bearable, which for me is quite an achievement!

I just started taking English courses, and I hope I can take all of my classes with Chris. She is quite possibly one of the best prof's I have had in college, hands down, nothing else to it.

Good teacher! Very Smart and knows it. Be prepared for vocab, i never heard of these words before. Hard tests, and hard grader, but the class was hilariuos and fun. Best class of the semester even though i will probably get a C.

Chris Buttram is the most brilliant mind that I have ever known.

Chris is an excellent professor. She is always willing to help you with assignments and papers and is very approachable and laid back. However, she gives a lot of homework, especially reading. Despite this, I would reccomend her if you are looking to take an English class, sheis awesome!

Buttram is tough. lots of reading and lots of papers. very tough grader also. tests are easy. reading quizzes are hard bcuz the reading isnt fun. you have to work for ur C. she knows when she has given a lot of work and then lightens the workload. she wants her students to pass. always willing to help. shes not bad if u get to know her. GOOD LUCK!

The previous "evaluator's" comments are entirely irresponsible and immature. If he wants to throw a tantrum, he shouldn't do it here, where honest students are trying to get objective opinions of prospective teachers. If Professor Buttram raises the bar too high for this student, perhaps he should consider a trade school.

I agree whole heartedly with the last 2 comments. Chris is one of the most respected professors, all be it odd, in the english dept. I personally go out of my way each semester to have a class with her. If you want to be lazy and not do work, drop out of school. There are better thing you could be doing with your time than put down an amazing woman

Many times I turned assignments in late, but because I was honest with her, she let it slide a few times. She's genuinely into in what she's teaching. That makes the class a lot better. I got that 'C' because I slacked, not because she gave it to me. I've heard many say that she's a '****'- this is college and she's not holding your hand. Take her

Modernism is a really hard class. When she gives you a reading assignment, you really need to read. It's not impossible to do well in the class...it is just really difficult. I promise you will learn a lot from taking the course. I would recommend it...just DON'T SLACK OFF!

Very tough. I took this class to cover my last gen. ed. and it was way more work than i expected. I've never had an english test in my life, and hers were very hard. 8-page paper and final exam finals week!! Don't take unless you really have a lot of time to study and write.

a difficult class that should be two separate courses (dr b. openly admits this). she holds a loose schedule that requires a LOT of reading. keep up and you will do just fine. her exams seem daunting, but weren't so bad. dr. buttram is extremely intelligent, but she very relaxed and playful. again KEEP UP WITH THE READING!

Do not listen to those ignorant people who think you have to agree with "her way" in order to get a good grade. She is a tough grader, but completely fair. She knows what she's talking about. This is college. Get used to the hard work.

One of my favorite professors, and I'm NOT an ENG major. If you keep up on the readings and take notes in class the tests are easy. She's a hard grader on papers, but she really just wants to make you a better writer. She helped me SO much. Her classes are rarely boring which is nice too. There was only 4 papers which isn't too bad either.

Buttram wants you to get a good grade. You get to pick and choose what you want to answer on the tests, but they are long and difficult to finish in the time given. So study hard and read over the material. She makes the class fun too. So show up, study, and participate. You'll be fine if you do what's expected in a 300 level course.

she is a very intelligent person. you learn a lot from her. the tests are pretty rough but she curves them. as long as you study and do your reading out of the textbook you will be fine. she had pop quizzes on your reading so make sure you do it.

I've taken her for a few classes, and she's very into what she teaches. Her tests and papers can be difficult, but she gives you a wide array of essay questions and things like quotations with many options.

Dr. Buttram is a wonderful lady. She's intelligent to a nearly intimidating degree, but she truly wants you to succeed. She's easily one of the best english professors I've had. She's a really tough grader, but her tests/quizzes aren't impossible so long as you actually do the reading. If you work hard in the class, she rewards you for it.

My favorite Professor, always happy and fun, also fair. Expect 2-3 papers and tests with a wide variety of questions and a lot of bonus points/optional questions

I took her for expository writing. She was a great teacher and I learned a great deal from her. She will grade hard on your papers and will mark them up with good and bad things. eventually you build upon the good and correct your mistakes. she has made me a great writer.

AWESOME professor! I had her for classical mythology and I NEVER wanted to miss a class! There's a lot of reading, that's to be expected from an English course, but it was ALWAYS interesting! She rarely "lectures," and mostly just talks about the readings. Very fun lady, and probably my favorite English professor!

Professor Buttram is an amazing professor! Yes, she is tough, but you can always go to her and she will clarify things for you. She is one of the best professors I've had, and i don't regret taking the class. She always made class interesting. I would definitely recommend this class!

Buttram is not so much tough, she just expects college work from college students. Super nice and friendly(although ive only had her for classical myth) but she genuinely likes what she is teaching. Offers help outside of class if needed. I definitely recommend her! You will NOT regret it!!

Dr. B seems intimidating at the start. 10% of your grade are how she feels you did in the class, so participate and do all the little assignments she asks. Overall we had 3 papers. GO TO THE WRITING CENTER. She takes that largely into account when grading your paper. Also if your confused how other comments have said they were, just go talk to her.

But tram is really nice. She gives some reading assignments but they aren't that bad but make sure you actually read them because she may call on you and ask about the readings. She will help you with your paper if you need it. Go to the writing center because she likes that!

Professor Buttram is great! She is very nice and caring however it can be hard to follow her lectures because she is sometimes in her own world. She is very knowledgeable and knows what she is doing, ask questions for clarity.

Not a strong lecturer and sometimes her quirkiness gets in the way of the point shes trying to make. But shes fair, and if you do the homework, its easy to earn an A or B. Enjoyed the class, learned a lot.

She truly cares about each of her students. Its evident she truly wants you to succeed. Theyre isnt much homework, and assignments are all tangible. One of my favorite professors by far.

Buttram is the best professor I've had at this school, by a landslide. She encourages students to dig deeper while empathizing with the struggles they face. She facilitates deep discussions of the course readings. The quizzes are meant to benefit the students, not to trick them. I can honestly say she made me care about a subject I didn't like.

Dr. But tram is fun and makes the class entertaining. You arent graded on homework, but its the best way to prepare for the exams. She also goes over the answers every class and randomly calls on people to give the answers. You have a final project that allows for a lot of creative freedom. Overall, great class, great professor, and not too hard!

The most wonderful professor I've ever had and am so sad she is retiring. Helped me understand so much without making me feel idiotic for asking questions. I gained a friendship with her during the semester and love her teaching method. Definitely a role model for me and the career I'm going into.
