What an amazing teacher! I always look forward to going to his class and learning new things; he makes history seem like a well-written novel. It's an informative and enjoyable class; I would strongly recommend it to anyone.
He is an awesome teacher, he really knbows what he is talking about and uses real day examples to back his studies!
Really enjoys teaching, gives good study guide for tests. All test are essay tests, no multiple choice.
Great teacher. You can tell he really enjoys teaching and he knows he is teaching a general ed requirement. He does not try to make it as hard as an advanced class.

very fun to be in class with
The only professor I have ever known to pause lecture to bless someone for sneezing, offer his own chair when all the other chairs are taken, and exrpess deep concern for his student's well being and investment in his class. Excellent man, extremely down

****ing great
He is a great teacher. He is very passionate of what he teaches and it makes the class interesting. I really don't like history, it's really boring to me. He kept a very boring subject for me intersting, I'm glad I got him as a teacher.
ONLINE CLASS. Chris was a great online professor. He is very accessible and responds very quickly to email. Unlike some online professors, Chris seems like he is right there with you, and encourages discussions throughout the length of the course. I can only imagine that he is even better in person. Good assignments and no busy work.
First history class that I actually enjoyed and looked forward to attending. Chris makes the class worth while. Must attend class, all of the information you need for the tests you can get from the classroom lecture. All tests are essay format.
he was good all you need to do is read the stuff he give you which is not alot and write down all the notes on the broad
The best teacher I have ever had. This teacher makes History interesting. I went through 3 other teachers for history because they all sucked. He is awesome!
Would recommend the class to anyone. Very knowledgble about history and if he can not answer right away, he finds them for the next class. Has a real passion for the subject but realizes not everyone else does. By far the best teacher I've had and writes notes on his hand. Very cool!
TAKE HIM!!!!!!!! YOU WON'T REGRET IT!!! HE IS THE BEST!! FUN AND FRIENDLY!! SHOW UP FOR CLASS AND TAKE NOTE FROM BOARD!!! ONLY 3 TESTS, NO PAPERS!! GREAT TEACHER!! i WISH I COULD HAVE HIM AGAIN!!
Chris is the best!!!Take Him !!! As long as you show up for class and write down everything from the board you should do well .3 tests, no papers!! Wonderful class, i loved it, He made history a very fun and interesting subject!! And of course he is very cool and friendly, extrem.y kind and nice!!
He is one of the best instructors I have ever had. He loves the subject and knows how to teach it. His class is relatively easy but you learn a lot. I would recommend everyone take a history class from Chris Case. He is the man!
GREAT!! Easiest class I have taken! Writes everything you need to know on the board. come to class, copy notes, 3 tests! Thats it! Awesome! Take as many classes from him that you can!
I had Case for my "American Civilizations" course. It was astounding to finally have a professor that loved what he taught. He made ME love the subject. This guy seems like an old hippie, but an academic one. If SLCC had more professors like Case, they would be a 4 year school in the Ivy league. Thanks Case.
AWESOME history teacher. Makes everything clear and easy to learn. I would DEFINITELY take a history class from him again!!
He is a great teacher!! I would take the class again if I had to. Not very hard but you have to go to class.
Best history professor at SLCC, highly reccomended!
I took HIST 2700 and 2710 online from Professor Case. The workload was very reasonable and he was flexible with due dates. He responds to e-mails quickly and always gives his phone number out so you can call him anytime. I would highly recommend him as an online instructor and I've heard great things about him in a live class as well.
By far the best instructor I've had in my life...and I HATED history before! No tests, five papers; papers are a reiteration of notes (pretty much word for word) from his lectures that he WILL write out everyday. Tells cool stories. Wears the same outfit everyday, has long hair, and rides a Harley to school everyday. I would take any of his classes
This class was simple for anyone who attended on a regular basis. The workload was manageable, the lectures were captivating, and the classroom had a very inviting feeling open to discussion and debate. Great teacher!
By far my favorite professor ever. But don't be fooled. The tests are essay, he gives you 6 possible questions to study, then eliminates up to 4 so you don't know which one you'll be tested on. Expect to write ALOT on the test and answer EVERY question within the question. I LOVED the challenge, LOVED him and got an A- the lectures were a blast!
He is by far my favorite professor! I loved listening to his lectures. You must attend class to get a good grade. All tests are essay and come directly from his lectures. I would take another class from him in a heartbeat!
He is by far my favorite professor! I loved listening to his lectures. You must attend class to get a good grade. All tests are essay and come directly from his lectures. I would take another class from him and hope I get the chance to do so.
Very good at teaching. I could listeb to him all day. I love history.
Chris was clear and concise on what he wanted. You'll receive copious amounts of information. He wants you to think for yourself and show reasoning/justification in your thought process. I wish more professors would promote this style of thought.
AWESOME TEACHER!! 6 essays(2 pgs each) is your grade, plus he offers extra credit, if you don't do well on a paper you can resubmit it. makes the class very intersting.
I took this class online and it was amazing! He gives you a set of due dates at the beginning so you can go as fast as you want. All you have to do is read the assigned reading and highlight all of the important parts and you will do great on the tests. I would definitely recommend taking this class to anyone who has a busy schedule.
Awesome Prof. Really gets into the subject matter and makes it extremely interesting. For WWII he had a veteran come speak to us, which was great. I learned more from his class than all of the classes at the private school I attend now.
This was a very interesting, thought provoking class and I really enjoyed the teacher. There are no tests in class and the homework load is very reasonable, you write 5 two page pagers, if you keep up with the reading the papers aren't bad at all. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
I took Americanization online and it was the easiest class! Perfect for those with busy schedules. There are quizzes for each chapter so you have to read the book and highlight all the important parts.
Awesome professor. Have taken every one he teaches. :)
His online course was great! The quizzes follow right out of the textbook. The essays and discussions were relatively simple but thought provoking - though I felt like it was more writing than usual for a history clss. I really enjoyed the course and recommend this professor. Just do the assignments and you'll do well in this class!
I took his online class and loved it! There is quite a bit of writing, but you have plenty of time to finish it. The quizzes are straight from the book and his grading isn't harsh at all. I loved him. I had a few problems with canvas this semester and he had me call his cell phone and fixed them right away. Great teacher!
What a great guy! I learned so much from him in this class and it wasn't as stressful as most classes are. You have 4 papers that are 3 pages long then one final term paper that is about 5 pages long, and you learn so much information along the way! Really helps you notice there's so much more to Native Americans than we are taught normally.
Fantastic teacher!! Lectures were great! Made sure the assignments were understood and that you had all the information you needed for each quiz. Kept your attention the entire time. Knows his information. Personable. I would take him for any other class he decided to teach.
Awesome teacher. Really nice, and EXTREMELY helpful. Very passionate about history. Papers are the only homework. If you read the books, take notes and participate, you'll pass.
This class is not too hard, I didn't really like this class because it's not a subject I find interesting. He grades his papers a little harshly but over all its a good class if your there and pay attention.
Chris is a great teacher - nice guy and very helpful. There is quite a bit of book work but you learn a lot and it's not difficult. Great teacher.
This guy is the best teacher! Every class I looked forward to attending. He is very clear about what is due, what will be on the quiz, and shows how much he loved the subject he is teaching. Wish I had him as my teacher for every subject.
I took his class online and while I learned a lot, I feel as though I taught myself. Apart from providing assignments and grades, he had very little involvement in the class. I don't think he read the assignments, but more or less check to make sure all requirements were included. A lot of work is required, fulfill requirements and you'll be ok.
LOVED ALL COURSES I HAVE HAD CASE for! I highly recommend this professor. It is not the easiest class unless you pay attention then is it simple and easy!!!
I took this class online, and there was quite a bit of work. He was very clear and prompt with responses. It's all pretty straight-forward as long as you do the reading.
You need to keep up and it's a lot of work but very straighforward. Lots of reading and short essay writing. Chris is extremely helpful.
Case is so helpful! He will answer all your questions no matter how ridiculous they are. The exams are take-home essays, all you have to do is follow the guidelines and make sure you answer all parts of the question you chose and you'll get an A. It can be a very easy class as long as you don't miss it & taking notes is a must!
Lectures were the best. Case gave the inside scoop about historic events difficult to research. He was extremely helpful but much of the time his knowledge of material and prompts went over my head. Harsh grader on essays. I expected a A- or B+ because of my work. Best all-around Prof on campus.
Chris is awesome, he is so helpful on his homework, I was way off topic on one assignment and he was helpful on giving me ideas on what to write on. We talked over the phone and he is way chill, probably the best online teacher I've had, he really does care about the students and helping them pass the class with great grades.
Love Chris!!! History is not my subject but I did really well in his class. He is very interactive. He makes sure you have everything you need to do the assignments. & he doesn't give "busy work"
There are 2-3 assignments due every 2 weeks. You'll be fine if you do the reading. All the quizzes are open book. Loved the course material and Chris.
Chris is the bomb! Loved this class! His essays can be a little challenging but well worth the effort. Keep up with the reading it makes this course much easier. Loved this class!
Great Class, guidelines set up easy to find and follow on canvas. Course have very reasonable expectations and more than ample time to complete work. once a week and the course work is light considering some courses and you'll be able to work it in easily with other classes.
The textbook is AWFUL! The quizzes were designed to trick you rather than help you learn. He was more interested in you citing work than what your actual essays were about. He was very very nice, but his class is boring and way too hard.
Chris is pretty much every students ideal teacher. He's very helpful, easy to contact, and willing to help with any problems.
I learned so much in his class!! The lectures given were really good, especially when he'd get going on a subject. He is very willing to help everyone in every way he can. If you have a question on something that you don't get answered it's your own fault. He was an awesome professor!!
Chris has got to be one of the best professors I have ever had. His knowledge on history is insurmountable. He is very helpful in helping you succeed and become a good writer. Lectures are great. He is really good at making you think. Very helpful when it comes to work/illness conflicts. He is available by phone in the evenings if you need help.
Online 8 week class during the summer. It was difficult but good. Good combination of papers and exams. To me that is a real test of knowledge. Very easy to contact and worked really well with me in a conflict. I would recommend this class, but online was difficult!!!. Be prepared to read. The books are a must if you want to pass.
Awesome!
Chris is hands down the best teacher I have ever had. I learned and gained so much from taking this course. Chris will answer any questions you may have about historical events and his lectures were phenomenal. He encouraged me to speak up more in class, and that my opinion actually mattered. He also inspired me to pursue a History career.
An amazing teacher!! His class is easy with a few quizzes on each chapter and a single page paper every two chapters. His lectures are great and he really cares for history. TAKE HIS CLASS!! :)
My favorite professor I've had so far. Great lectures. The purpose of his lectures are to help you with the 7 one page essay's that are due during the semester every 2 weeks. Grading gets tougher as you understand more what he wants out of the essay. Quizzes for the chapters are relatively easy. Free textbook online that you can download. No test.
Mr Case has put together the most amazing class; my favorite ever! There's tons of reading, charts, videos and information to study but the amount of knowledge I gained on this subject is truly astonishing. Be sure to fully follow his directions when writing papers, if you don't he will dock you. Wish I could take more classes from him.
I took his class online and had a great experience! He replies very quickly and grades your work fast! He's very willing to let you resubmit. There was a decent amount of work every week with a weekly discussion and quizzes. There's 5 two page papers and 2 five page papers throughout the semester. As long as you keep up this class will be a breeze!
Chris is easily the most approachable and understanding of work/life conflicts of any teacher. I learned so much from taking this course. Chris will answer any questions you may have about Native American history or culture and his lectures were fascinating and unparalleled by any other teacher I've ever had. TAKE HIS COURSES AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE!!!
Chris Case is the best teacher ever. He is all, highest grade of care, commitment, kindhearted, tolerates a lot of lateness is very cool, yet he demands and expects the best work and will work you until you understand what you are doing. I would take every class I could with him if possible.
He is an amazing teacher! He listens to you in class and is very reachable outside of class. He allows us to call him at home, if we have any questions. Get ready to read, the chapters are long, but if you read, you won't have any issue writing the papers. He gives great feed back! He connects with the students and their personal lives really well!
One of the bust Professors I have had at SLCC. He is very fair and the class is interesting. No text book to buy because it in only online. You will be writing a paper each week on the chapter and also a discussion post. Not too bad as long as you read the chapter and get your assignments in.
He was a fair grader and gave good feedback for every assignment. There is an essay due every week, plus a quiz and sometimes a discussion board. You definitely have to work for this class, but it's manageable.
He is an amazing teacher! He listens to you in class and is very reachable outside of class. He even allows you to call him at home, if you have any questions. His lectures were fascinating and unparalleled by any other teacher I've ever had. He gives great feed back on essays! He connects with the students and their personal lives really well!
Great teacher!!! If you have questions call him even at home. Will talk to you like an Adult, wants you to pass but won't give it to you. This semester it was a free online textbook which was amazing. The material is spot on and for the most part put together pretty well. Will definitely take his classes in the future!
TOUGH grader. The questions on the tests are super tricky so KNOW your stuff. There is no leniency in grading.
I learned a lot in his class. You can call him if you are having trouble writing the papers which is a bonus because they are hard to do. I found that the more I went to class and payed attention, the better I did on the papers. He is a super nice guy though and is willing to help you anyway that he can.
Chris is a great teacher this was my second class with him. He's approachable wants you to learn, and will let you call him at home. For me, I felt he expected more from me this semester than when I took history 2700 last semester, But that's okay. I appreciated it meant he wanted me to get better. We need more teachers like Chris take his class.
Chris was honestly the best teacher I have ever had. I learned so much from this course. Chris will answer any and all questions you may have about historical events and his lectures were absolutely phenomenal. He encouraged me to speak up more in class and that my opinion mattered. He truly is a great professor. Plus he has great taste in music.
Chris Case was a great teacher in HIST 2600 and went over all chapters and explained somethings in detail, as he made up some funny words like, "whitified." He tells it like it should be.
I learned so much about Native American history from this course. Chris can answer any questions you may have about Native American history or culture and his lectures were captivating and unparalleled by any other teacher I've ever had. He also is very understanding of work/life conflicts and will work with you. I loved every minute of this class.
The class consists of quizzes(multiple choice)and documentary analysis assignments. He can be a little tough on his grading, but always tells you what to fix to do better. He is HILARIOUS. His lectures are intriguing and he keeps them exciting. All he wants is for his students to do well in his class. He gives you his phone # if you ever need help.
A great teacher. Fair and makes you think. For sure wants you to think about history.
His feedback was not what is could have been during my experience with his class, I took his history class online during the summer , he is a really tough grader and didn't give a ton of feedback for the assignments and just stopped responding, it didn't seem very clear what he was wanting you to do in the class.
Chris, is a nice guy he cracks a few jokes in class to make it enjoyable. There are quizzes every week(online) and a paper due every end of the chapter, I've never been given back a paper " thats not fit to standards" so the writing assignments were tough for me. besides that it was a great class.
I took this class in the summer online the class was shorten to about 6 weeks, I would send emails and he would not reply, there were 2 essay due every week If you take him beware of all the work that seemed impossible to do unless you have a lot of time on your hands.
He is a good professor and flexible with your schedule and needs. I think if someone were very interested in history then you'd love his class. Surprisingly, lectures are usually interesting. He is very knowledgeable about history and definitely loves it. Gives a lot of feedback on papers but sometimes can't read his handwriting.
I took Chris's online class and he made himself available via phone AND by meeting up during his office hours. Very knowledgeable. The course naturally does call for a lot of reading and paper writing but the text is free and it has opened my eyes to US history. Chris does not sugar coat the truth about American history which is greatly appreciated
Chris is so willing to help you get the most out of this course. He provides his phone number so that if you need assistance outside of class/office hours you can get ahold of him. There's not much homework, and he provides feedback on each assignment and allows you to try again if needed. I recommend Chris to anyone who needs a history credit.
There is 7 writing assignments that are only a page and a half long they aren't too bad as long as you start early. Quizzes on canvas every week and one big writing assignment for ePortfolio. If you don't like history I felt like it was/would (be) a hard class. Doesn't have lecture note online and just writes on the board, participation matters.
Chris is awesome I would have done better if there wasnt so much reading and then didnt have as many classes that semester. He knows what he is talking about and is just an awesome history instructor. There are alot of 1 1/2 papers, but he is accessible outside the class, by phone and email. He really cares about his students and helps them.
DO NOT TAKE IN SUMMER. He gives loads of busy work, tests are HARD with trick questions. Grades are not negotiable. Even good essay writers will struggle getting 100% on essays. He's easy to contact, but his solution in helping you is always REDO's on everything, so triple the amount of work you already have and that's how much you'll do per week.
I HATED THIS CLASS, He will basically demand that you call him, and that you must do these million super specific things to get a even decent grade on literally anything. It would probably be much easier to do not in a summer class but it seemed very packed and it was not enjoyable at any point
Refused to grade a paper I submitted because he didn't agree with my perspective on the topic. Made me re-write it twice and still gave me a "D" on it because he said I missed the point of the reading even though I answered the question posed in the essay.
ONLINE STUDENTS BEWARE!!!! I expected Case to be hilarious and intellectually stimulating like he had been reviewed for his physical classes. Instead, I got a neglectful teacher who made us read the textbook cover to cover. There was no guidance or teaching- the only feedback given was on papers that didn't meet his expectations. So let down.
Grades fairly and gives good feedback. Usually one quiz, a historical essay and chapter reading due every week. There is an large-ish paper due at the end of the year. Makes you call him to unlock late assignments and answers the phone saying "speak" like you're a dog. Despite the last comment, he's pretty solid. Take him.
Get a load of this guy! He doesn't follow his own rubric. Document analysis papers every week, and if you took something different away from a reading than he did, he will refuse to score the entire thing and make you re-write. If you don't re-write, he will issue a 0 rather than score on the rubric, even if other parts of the paper are perfect.
there are no due date for assignment. will help you to re do the assignment, you can call him any time and replies back. easy to work with.
I took this class online. Professor was very tough on grading. Every week there was a document analysis and a quiz from the textbook reading. About every other week you would also have a discussion. Got a "0" on a few papers, when asked why he said that the whole paper wasn't an A. If my paper was lower than 36/40 I would have to redo it.
Even though he's a tough grader and there's a lot of reading, I thoroughly enjoyed this class. The document analysis' seem like a daunting task, but I realized that they're pretty simple, so long as you read and take good notes. If you follow the rubric and the videos, you will understand how he grades and it makes your life a lot easier.
Tough classes, but gives great feedback and allows for redos if you score low enough. Really enjoyed actually learning in this class!
Professor Case made huge point to call, text, or email him if we were struggling with our regular data analysis papers. I was hesitant to call at first due to nervousness, but he was so easy to talk to, gave me very helpful pointers, and grades fairly. I enjoyed the organized structure of his class, and you know what to expect from him. He's great!
Chris gave his personal phone number out and asked us to call him if we had any issues. Chris gave me 2 attempts on a final project and on the second he requested that I call him to talk things through. Makes good use of time. Likes class participation alot. Pretty good dude all around. He cares about his students and wants them to succeed.
I did the class online. Weekly work was: read a chapter, take short quiz, write a 1.5 page essay single spaced. Tough to get full points and quizzes are phrased weird but still easy to get a decent grade. More work than a lot of other classes but it's consistent week to week so once you get the pattern down it's not bad.
I wasn't a fan of history but after taking Chris's class changed that. He is passionate about what he teaches which makes the class more interesting. He wants students to engage while in class, he wants you to think. There are a few papers and debates but he makes them fun and interesting. I will continue to recommend him to friends/ students.
I tried his course on day one and was immediately greeted with a 25 question quiz with a time limit, as well as over 30 pages of reading, all due the first week. No intro, no meeting the teacher, no prep, nothing. Open your laptop and get ready to have a class that seems like it was made by AI. Also tons of random spelling issues in the quizzes.
We had to read an entire textbook front to back. One essay every week.
he's pretty by the book on how he wants things done, it gets a little much but if you just do what he wants the class isn't all that bad you just have to put in the work
Chris was an amazing teacher. I'm noticing many negative reviews citing weekly papers and tons of reading as criticism. How about we look at it with context? In history, there is an above average amount of reading. Duh. Also, he does normally assign a weekly paper, but the requirements are middle school level. Everybody thrived in my class.
Chris is an amazing teacher/story teller. I truly hate American History and he was able to keep me semi engaged. He truly cares about his students and wants everyone to succeed. he expects a lot, but is also ready to help at the drop of a hat. He literally gives out his phone number to call for help. I called him many times and he was SOO helpful.
Chris is a solid professor. Little break down of this class, I took it online. There are 15 modules, with a quiz and essay due every week, with a discussion added every other week. Quizzes are straight from the textbook. Make sure your conclusion paragraph is solid on your essays and you'll be good. Not getting an A was completely on me
Professor Case runs a structured class, but engages students well. Attendance is mandatory, but the workload is manageable if you stay on top of it. unstuck AI and the free textbook were great study tools alongside the lectures. Would recommend to history buffs and newbies alike.
The assignments are fairly tough for the given amount of time, everything must be a hard copy turned in person. When you get assignments back, prepare not to be able to read any comments terrible writing. And terrible board writing notes can be very tough
