Great teacher. Young and energetic. Teaches about POP culture. We watched and discussed Trainspotting about heroin addiction and did fun group work a lot. I think her methods are great and her connection is better. Take her classes.

Chavis is ruining my life!...j/k ms.chavis was a very challenging teacher. She pushed me till I got an A that I didnt think I could get. She is a great teacher and I would recomend her class to anyone willing to work hard for a grade.

Ms. Chavis is an awesome teacher! She really makes an effort to make class interesting, even though there are tons of assignments. She undeniably gorgeous, and witty. Definitely recommend her course.

she was ok...grades kinda hard. You have to get used to what she is looking for in an essay. Has a lot of assignments, but that it okay because that will help you raise your grade up from the essay's (which are tough)...10-12 oage research paper over any topic. does it over a period of 5 weeks..

Chavis is an extremely odd but interesting person. Be ready to write and write in proper format. It is a very committed class if you want a good grade. Her assignments may seem hard but she will help as much as she possibly can. Very good sense of humor and keeps you on your feet while in her class. Speak up in her class and you will be rewarded.

awesome teacher!! There are a lot of papers but they are not that hard! She is always there to help you out! Explains everything in detail. A wonderful teacher for comp1 and comp2!

can be an intimidating class at first but once you learn what she wants in a paper it is fairly easy. she is very helpful. there are quite a few papers so don't take the class if you don't have the time to write a paper every week.

Ms. Chavis is a great english teacher. I really enjoyed the class. we do alot of writing, but it is always over very intresting subjects. The atmosphere in the classroom was very relaxed and we all had alot of fun.

EXCELLENT Professor!! Ms.Chavis is one of a kind she's amazing makes the class fun and interesting. However you do have to work if you want an A in her class, it doesn't come easy but she is willing to help as much as possible i'm taking her again for Comp 2!! i would recommend her to everyone she's wonderful makes classroom enviornment very relaxe

She is a great teacher. Back in highschool I got like B's and C's on my essays and now I am making all A's and one B...she is very helpful and once you find out what she is looking for you will do great. I think everyone should take her. I am taking her for Comp 2 in the spring

I love this woman! So sweet and compassionate! If you act like you don't care, that's how she'll treat you back! I loved her class so much I'm taking her for COMP II!

Shes an amazing professor, shes hilarious, and so nice. yes she does give alot of work, but in the long run its way better for your grade that way i loved her in comp I and now in compII. Take her!!! trust ME!

She is a great teacher, I had her at 8AM, but she made want to come to class, she relates to her students, she does give alot of work, but it's not that, and plus it helps out your grade. Would recomend to anyone!!!

She is alot of fun and really relates to her students. She has a young and spunky attitude and is very easy to get along with. She assigns a lot of work but it helps your grade in the long run.

she's really a hard grader but if u listen to what she wants in her essays you'll do fine.....DO NOt USE "you's" in the essays....she hates that! no tests...just essays! but if u dont mind it...u'll do fine....she's awesome as a person....funnny as stylish..lol

This teacher has a fantastic attitude and she is a lot of fun. She loves essays and grades kind of hard, but the fun we have in class is worth it. One thing you have to do is talk she loves that, and participation is a free grade in her class.

She is alot of fun. Must talk alot in her class to recieve an A. No tests just alot of papers to write. If you dont like to write papers dont take this class. She has a good personality, but she does grade hard. Oh and the final is eaisy.

She is a wonderful professor. Her class is fun, but she definately makes you work. The assignments are not all that hard except that she grades hard. This is a fun class and professor, but don't expect to just slide by. You will work. O and participation is definately key with her.

Ms. Chavis the best engish teacher i have ever had i loved her class and i took here for comp1 and comp2. she loves to give writing assignments but they are not hard if you pay attention to what she tells you in class. She will help you no matter what you just can not be shy in this class.

Great teacher, but grades HARD. critical responses, arguments, and persuasive essays are what to expect, so you better be good if you plan on having her! the only easy thing was the final (group presentation). Oh and she's HILAROUS and has great style.

Chavis is one of the hardest writing teachers, if not THE hardest, I have ever had; however, she makes herself very available to students and expects a lot of commitment and hard-work. As long as you do all your work and follow her guidelines and specifications, she is not too bad, I made an A in the class after some hard work.

She's a good professor. Simple, easy assigments. Of course, like every English class, has to write essays. She tries to help the student get better grades so just listen to what she says. Give her exactly what she wants in the essay, and you will get an A. Gives many opportunities to get you a better grade as well. I recommend this professor.

Ummm....Well i have not enjoyed the class, she does grade VERY hard and has high expectations for her students. FORMAT, She is very strict on this. Be ready to work. Huge research paper, ritical responses(good luck) and just a couple other papers.

Ms. Chavis is really sweet. She is willing to help you with your assignments. I learned more in her class then in any other English class. my writing has really grown. If you want to acutally learn in school take her.But if you want to slack off dont. She is not kidding around. But she is really sweet and fun in class

She is wonderful!!! I love her, her class on the other hand...is way harder than it has to be. I felt like she gave us more work than she had too and that she graded extreamly hard. As a person she is a blast, and she is sooo funny!!!!!! Take the class if you love to write, but don't take it if you want an easy A, because it is definately not!

Ms. Chavis is one of the most respectful, nice, and helpful teachers I have ever had. She tries to make writing papers as interesting as possible and is sure to provide help if needed. There are some picky format requirments for the papers, but it's basic stuff. Participate in class and complete the papers ON TIME and there should be no problems.

Ms Chavis is a really great teacher, and is very respectful. However, she grades very tough, and demands a lot from students. She gives a writing assignment about everyweek, and they keep getting much more difficult, and she gets much more picky. If you love and our great at writing then definitely take her class! Otherwise, it is not an easy A!!!!

i love her!! be sure to know 'argument' and how to write lengthy papers before joining this class. pay attentioin and follow directions and you'll be fine. make sure you get to know her so she doesnt write a different name on your paper when grading! Don't listen to those bad reviewers! Take this teacher. You cannot slack off in her class because she does grade tough, but if you ask for help she will go to the ends of the earth to help you. You will learn a lot and like it or not you will form an opinion of some sort! The only thing I hated was the group presentations at the end.

She IS a very difficult professor. Even so, I absolutely loved her class. She really gets involved with you & whatever questions or extra help you need. You really learn how to write great papers (which you will need for higher level classes!). I took her Fall of '06. 3 years later and she is still the absolute best professor I have ever had.

Wonderful English teacher. Knows her stuff and goes above and beyond to help you. She has very high standards and expects you to work hard. Not just an easy A, but the best class I've taken yet!

This class requires a lot of attention and is not an easy A. Ms. Chavis is very fun to work with and is very helpful. Be prepared to write long papers and prove the points that you are arguing. Ms. Chavis is great as long as you're willing to put in the work.

Chavis is awesome. The problem with most students is they cant handle all her work.. but i promise you will become a better writer if you take her class. She pretty much explains how she wants you to write and how to do it, doesnt get much harder than that. After her class most papers seem like a cake walk.

Difficut grading but very clear and helpful. Sometimes she can be abit rude if you make her mad.

Good professor. Difficult papers, but they make the student a better writer. None of the assignments are pointless.

She is a tyrant. Grading is ridiculous and she expects PERFECT papers. My writing skills have definitely improved prior to taking this class, however my grade suffered as I was adjusting to what she wanted. Avoid at all costs there are better, more fair english teachers to take.

I ended up LOVING this class! Yes, she is strict grader, but her expectations challenge her students to become better writers. Ms. Chavis is very helpful in class and makes herself available to her students outside of the classroom. Plus she's hilarious!

I love this woman sooo much, but be prepared to work for that A! Her expectations are clear, that's why she grades so tough. She gives assignments out the ass, make sure you have no other busy classes if you take her class!

She was an amazing professor. By far my favorite professor! She was a really tough grader and seemed really intimidating at first but as I got to know her she was really cool. She was really good at giving feedback, even though she was blunt sometimes. I was failing for a week, but she made it so easy for me to get it back up. I highly recommend!

Gives extra credit for simply showing up ON TIME and ready to go the day something is due. Extremely helpful once you seek her for help. Tough professor but be you can tell it is because she truly cares about students learning.
