One of the best English professor at Pierce. He is nice, helpful and very understanding. He can make you get engaged to class. He has humor as well. He even gave us cookies and milk on our last day! Very easy class! take him!!!

Professor Corning is an excellent instructor with a passion for his craft. He's readily available to assist and is concerned about what you gain from his instruction. He makes learning fun. The only flaw I see is that sometimes he let's the monkeys control the zoo a little longer than they should, which is probably because he's too nice.

Professor Corning taught me plenty about writing structures. He always brought great depth of energy to the classroom. You get what you worked for. If you show up to class, write key notes, and put in work you will succeed. I recommend any student who has trouble writing a great thesis to take his English 101 class. -Fall 2013 student

Definitely the easiest english teacher for any level at pierce. Everyone in the class had taken him for 21,28,101. About 4 essays that only have to 2-3 pages. Very calm, cool, young guy. Easy grader and will always help. Zero tests except for final. Had him for a night class but was totally worth it! Great teacher if your not the best writer

It's impossible to not like this professor. He's smart, interesting, and kind. Grading and the work expected of you is clear from the first day of class. It won't be hard as long as you keep up. Don't lose your syllabus. His formulas for writing, forming a thesis, and essay structure are so helpful. Readings, journal writing, 4 essays, final.

He genuinely cares for his students and class was never boring. I actually did not mind going to class and sitting there for the whole night because he really is a great professor and will teach you great things! He was my first college professor, I honestly thought he was going to be hard turns out I was wrong. My Senior year English teacher was worst. I honestly expected more from Corning, he was so easy. He is awesome I missed some chapter in my journal and I had low points on it I asked him through email about it and he said I can make up the points by doing an extra credit assignment which was really easy. He does a good job explaining the assignments and is a REALLY fair grader. Also very understanding. Gonna miss his class.

I am taking english 21 a summer class with professor corning and I think he is the best professor ever. If he was teaching English 28 I would take it with him in the fall, but he is not. I hope to take English 101 in the spring with him. He is easy, 7 mistakes on a test is an A and he is the best ever. he lets you re do your test if you not happy

Professor's Corning class is the place to be if you're a returning to school adult. It's been many years since I attanded school, so I was particular nervous to take this class. He is so down to earth, and easy to talk to, that my fear went away in no time. He is not judgemental, and provides great feedback! He makes the lesson easy to understand.

I took Professor Chris Corning in the summer for summer bridge. I love him so much. His class is so easy and he cares for his students allot. If you have a hard time or a low grade he works with you and helps you until you understand it and until your grade gets raised. My favorite english teacher ever. TAKE HIM, VERY EASY!

I took Prof. Corning after 15 years of not going to school and he made me feel so comfortable. He is an excellent teacher that gets down to the point and is clear with the assignments. He is very patient with the students and will practice the lectures until the students understand the topic.

I took his english online hybrid class over winter session and it was great! he's an amazing professor and really cares about his students. he gives lots of feedback and even offers lots of extra credit. 3 essays 1 research paper and lots of discussions but its worth it!

I took professor Corning for English 21 in the summer of 2017 with the Summer Bridge program and loved it. Professor Corning is very easy, nice, kind and helps every student to pass them. he never leaves his students down. when I was failing he helped me up and I got to a B in his class from a F. very caring Professor. you will love this class.

I took prof Corning for English 28 in winter 2018, Im now taking him for English 101 winter of 2019 & all I can say is bless him. English is my worst subject, not a big fan of writing but his criteria makes you want to write paragraphs & paragraphs. Such a good teacher, as long as you do your work on time & put effort this class is a piece of cake

Amazing professor. Had him for the Winter, and even with the accelerated schedule, he took the time to read all my essays and give genuine feedback. Assignments are easy and short, but give plenty of room for you to learn. Very supportive and is always open for questions. One of my favorite English classes of all time.

Prof. Corning really cares about his students. The class is always fun and goes by fast. Not too much papers, just about 5 in a whole semester but not difficult at all. Everything is doable. If you see see him during office hours he will help you a ton!!

I took his English 101 class online during the spring and it was one of the easiest A's ever. As long as you do the discussions and turn in the assignments, you'll pass. There is about 3-4 homework assignments due each week and they're relatively easy. There are 5 essays due including the research paper which is the final.

4 Essays 1000 words each + Final research paper 2000 words offeres extra credit for library seminars and taking peper to the writing lab Each week is one chapter of reading and a 300 word response, plus some activities to help write the papers. Corning is a great teacher, but if you fail to put in the required effort for the class you will fail.

I took his English 101 class in the spring. He got us a lot of homework, but at the end of the semester, he counted them as extra credit. His textbook is so helpful for writing. I enjoyed this class and I learned many things from this class.

Best english Professor on campus. I took him online in the summer, now in his 103 class... he's a gem. If you are looking to get an idea for what critical thinking and writing looks like (which you should if you plan on transferring....) then take him, and you're welcome. 

Professor Corning is a God. He made the online class super doable and he was accessable throughout the whole course. 5 Essays, 1 Final and midterm which were timed essays, the rest is a piece of cake. He gives a lot of extra credit opportunities. The book is available as an e-book for cheap and all you need is for is the reading journals. Take him!

I am taking his English 101 class at the moment and let me tell you it is so amazing. This is the very first class that I enjoy coming to every morning. The textbook is required but assignments are not difficult. Stay put and don't dfall behind you will definitely pass.

The class is challenging, and you must do almost two to three essays each week. But eventually, you will learn a lot.

Not enough space to describe! Fair amount of reading and writing, but the class itself was extremely beneficial for anyone who wants to become a writer. I learned SO MUCH and gained experience each week. Nothing was overly complicated. Prof C is SUPER chill, available for students, gives great feedback, and grades on time. E.C. and great vibes!

Prof C is a great professor. He really takes the time to get students to understand the material he covers. I learned a great amount of information that will help me become more of a critical thinker. There are many homework assignments at least two a week that are about 500 words each. That was hard to keep up, but he overall is great!

Professor Corning is the best professor that I have ever had. I took him for eng 101, 102 and Im taking him for Eng lit this fall. He gives a lot of time to get assignments turned in. Took English 101 during the summer, best professor I've had by far, very understanding, and very easy grader. Summer session was short so had assignments everyday but all work given was easy and manageable.

Prof Corning was an overall great teacher, he gives you good tips and helps you every step of the way and you can tell he really cares about his students. His grading is a little harsh, he doesn't give out 100% to any papers but he gives you good feedback to hopefully get that 100 next time.

I love this Professor! He grades fairly and he also give feedback on each essay that you right. He is really understanding and course work was reasonable.

An amazing teacher who truly cares. Syllabus says he has 4 essays but he drops 2 of them anyway. He says you can choose which 2 of the 4 essays you want to do. Show up and participate if you don't want to do the discussion boards or do the discussion boards when you miss class. Either way, you're set for an A. Warning: doesn't give 100/100

Such a good and easy professor, dwells deep into what he teaches/lectures but in a fun way. Attendance was not mandatory and you were able to make up any missed in person assignments online, he did have a lot of group work but it ended up actually being pretty fun as he usually let you choose your group. Would definitely take again!

Had Professor Corning for the Winter session. 5 essays in total, 2-3 discussions every week and had to finish Parable of the Sower in 3 weeks! Definitely expected to work a lot since it was a 6 week class. However, the topics are interesting! He's easy to reach and isn't a tough grader, just try your best!

Corning is such a good teacher, he is so chill and for 102 he gave more work than a previous class I took. But, they were pretty easy, his discussions and essays are mostly graded off participation. His lectures can be a little boring but he's rlly chill and easy, highly recommend!!

I did this for the first half of Fall 2023 so there were papers due every week. There's a research paper but you can use your previous essays to complete it. He responds very quickly to emails. I'm glad I took his class 10000/10.

Dr. Corning was fantastic. The "textbook" we used was a free online anthology. You're graded on two readings a week and two papers. There are four opportunities for papers, but only two are necessary. The subject matter wasn't my favorite, but Dr. Corning made the class as enjoyable as possible. The class was mainly just discussions though.

You show up to class and take notes. I usually do not like English because it's boring but his class was actually not boring and what was brought up in the lectures I did put to use in my essays. There was quite a lot of writing assignments but with time management and discipline, it is easy. I've enrolled in eng102 cant wait!

Amazing teacher! Very compassionate and cares deeply about his students. It's not important how advanced of a writer you may be. He cares more about genuine writing. Assignments are mainly discussions. He was an easy grader and cared most about participation and completion. Lots of writing, barely any reading. Highly recommend!

attendance isn't mandatory but you should still go as in class discussions make any small discussion assignment easier. he is not a hard grader and is very understanding. we didn't use a textbook but we did read books books. for example we read, "Parable of The Sower" by Octavia Butler. i highly recommend for Eng. 101 and 102.

I had him for the winter session, but it was A LOTT more work than I thought. It's manageable if its the only class you're taking for winter. Per week 2discussions + reply to 2 people with 4+ sentences, 2-3 250 word assignments, and 1 1000 word paper due end of week. Final was 1500 word paper. Overall manageable but a lot of busy work.

Professor Corning is awesome! Very engaged and helpful. Lots of writing, but manageable with time and discipline. ChatGPT and Unstuck study were great for boosting my essays. Definitely take this class!

Professor Corning lets you choose between four different paths in his English 102. One of the paths allows you to do something that benefits you in your future life, and you're required to complete it. Instead of writing traditional essays or analyzing literature, you can actually do that project and still get credit for it. Amazing professor.

Great English professor! Assignments due were clear and laid out on canvas, a lot of writing, but it is an English course. I took his Umoja class, and everything we read was written by black people, which I thought was cool. Easy A if you do the work.
