Had three essays and only received feedback for two of them after waiting several weeks, and then explicitly asking for feedback. Class was super easy, felt like a high school "blow-off" class. Definitely would not recommend this class to someone who is passionate about receiving a quality education from an engaging professor.

Never gives constructive feedback on essays, don't feel like I bettered my writing skills in any way like I should have. Never gave feedback on last essay. Refuses to provide resources and help students because it's “extra work”. Doesn't reply to emails. Pretty lazy guy, you mainly just talk in groups all of class, doesn't actually teach anything.

TAKE HIS CLASS! He is truly an amazing teacher. He is easily the best teacher I have ever had. He truly cares for his students and wants to see them succeed. He offers all the help he can give. You learn important things about social justice & he is super passionate about making a change for the better and empowering his students to have a voice.

WASTE OF TIME! First 15 mins of class were spent doing meditations & quiet time, while the rest of class periods were typically spent conversing with students about assigned readings. Often, Chris would say we cannot get to everything on the agenda because we were short on time, but would insist on continuing to not instruct for the first 15 mins.

Epitome of tenured professor... who can get by by passing his students each and every semester. He knows his position is secure, so why go through the trouble of actually putting in effort to teach the class. No constructive feedback on essays. No comments on writing assignments. Seemed like a lack of interest and care for student success overall.

Prof. Cullen is the best! One of my absolute favorites, he's a very caring, well-educated professor. The material covered in the class is very thought-provoking, and you'll get a lot out of it. Peer review on essays is really helpful--and make sure you go to his office hours to talk about your essays, they're really beneficial! I'd 100% recommend.

(Creative Writing Class) I liked the tolerance for late work and intent behind Cullen's flexibility, but the course lacked any structure; half of our class time was discussing what the next class would be like. We didn't read *any* professional pieces. Also, he (white) said the n-word hard-r while reading MLK.

Don't get your hopes up. Frankly, this was a boring class taught by a professor who seemed like he could care less about his students. The work was easy, but tedious, and it did not feel like a college-level course. Read, Read, Read, & then Talk, Talk, Talk. Hardly any structure. No constructive criticism on assignments. Overall, not a vibe.

semester ended, and we still never got any feedback from teacher on our last essay? every unit is the exact same, and almost every class is the same. rarely teaches, or leads the class. if you're looking for an easy A, this might be the class for you. if you want actual complex thinking and discussions, i would recommend another teacher.

Chris is a great instructor, committed to a democratic style of teaching. Sure, it's east to get an A via participation but you will get out of the class what you put into it. It's a great opportunity to find your own writing style, safely discuss social justice issues and read important texts. His feedback during conferences is valuable!

Chris is an amazing professor! He genuinely cares about students and understands we have lives outside of college. If you enjoy active learning, this class is for you. The class is challenging, but if you keep up your effort, you could do well. Overall, I had a positive educational experience with him. I highly recommend his class! BTW ASMT R FUN!

He was a great professor and his assignments/reading were great options. I found discussions interesting as it brought up things of great concern within society. The semester flows smooth with an easy structure to follow. He allows us to be creative for our final. Overall a very caring professor and I would recommend.

One of the Best clases I've ever taken in my life. He is a professional caring and understanding professor. The class is deep and a bit sensitive on topic but the professor creates a great family environment to help you get comfortable and learn. Just a great class !! Not hard just make sure you do the readings. His organization is great too.

I learned so much in English 5 with Chris. Most days it didn't seem like being taught but more like learning with, if that makes sense. Chris involves the class in all of the decisions, you definitely have a voice and are listened to. I learned so much in this class. I highly recommend Chris as an instructor.

Chris is truly a compassionate professor. He cares for student success. Our class over the summer of 2025 felt unique in the way we all interacted and communicated with each other with open arms. I would say this class was pretty flexible and lenient, but a great learning experience as well-- especially with the topics we discussed. Great class!

Chris is a great English C1000 professor, would DEF take again for English C1001 if it didn't conflict with my schedule. Understands personal circumstances, everything is graded solely on completion (as long as you tried), lots of reading - doable & he gives time in class, points for attendance & participating, class discussions most days

Chris is an okay "teacher" He forces uncomfortable conversations, which is a good thing but just be aware. There is absolutely no teaching being done. The whole semester you will talk amoung your classmates and get info groups everyday. Also sit far away from him, he spits when he talks and you will be in the SPLASH ZONE.

Didn't actually learn anything throughout the entire semester. Whole class was just a playground of group discussions and freetime. Wasted the first twenty minutes of every class. Entire class centered around social justice. Ogles at female students and spits everywhere when he talks. Do not sit near him, you WILL be in the splash zone.
