He is a good teacher and is always willing to answer questions. Face it, this class is just tough.
He's very structured, relays material well, if you can view the powerpoints, i didn't feel the book was necessary. fair grader, would be easier but bio is just tough. lots of short quizzes known ahead of time, drops the lowest quiz and lowest exam.
He answers any questions. His class is very interesting and understandable. His tests are not that hard, if u pay attention in class and are good in memorizing u'll be more than fine.Got my first A with him. He has a nice personality and can be funny, which helps even more. Highly recommended.
Great teacher. Do bother buying the book cus you won't need it. He uses powerpoint to lecture which is an awesome and the best way to teach this course. Study and memorize the lecture notes cus it'll be on the quizzes and exams. Grade base on the result of your quizzes and exams so you better study your material in order to pass. Also, for his fina
This professor was good. His quizes are easy if you study his the lecture notes. Some of the exam questions are taken directlly from the quiz answers so study the quiz. His class isnt too boring. Never lets you out early, and never missed a day of class. I enjoyed his cool style and sarcasim. :)
i love this guy!!! this is my first year in college and man am i glad that i have him!!! hes very clear and very helpful.. his quizes are easy if you study.. plus the test are pretty easy as well... plus i think he has funky way of dressing but i love it..
I just have him for Bio lab. His attempts at a sense of humor are the best! Even though he doesn't really have to teach in the Bio Lab, I think he's great. Nice guy.
I am taking him for both lecture and lab. This teacher is easy if you pay attention and study. You do not have to play the guessing game when it comes to tests. His powerpoints are online and simple to understand. If you are good at studying then you can do well in this class. Take him for both lab and lecture at the same time. Its worth it.
For an easy teacher he taught the subject very well. He gives examples that everyone can relate with and understand. He cracks jokes once in a while which makes the time fly by faster. The powerpoints are great to use as a sudyguide.
He is an excellent teache!! I just took him Spring in Biology and it was an excellent class. Just read and study his notes and you aced the test!! And obiously he is knows what he is talking about! His eyes are cool also!!!
This teacher is great! There are 4 test with the lowest score being dropped and a final. Quizes are often but not hard as he gives u warnings. No need for book 95% of stuff is from the "powerpoint's" that he lets you download and those "PP" are his lectures that he uses in class. Funny guy, class is interesting I definitely recommend.
I took this class during the summer. This teacher is very nice and easy. If you study his powerpoint and the note you took in class, you can aces your test. you don't even need to read the book. you can download his powerpoint online and into your computer and study from there. i recommend you to take this class if you want to pass biol 41 lecture
Great teacher. Pay attention and study the power points and you'll do fine. I didn't read from the text once and still got an A. Quizzes reflect the exams so learn what you got wrong. He's funny and easy-going. I enjoyed going to his class.
Is a class you will enjoy. The proffessor is very helpful and fair to everyone.
very fun class! learned alot...he taught the material very well. if you dont understand bio or have a hard time getting it..HE'S THE TEACHER FOR YOU! he'll seriously make you understand all of the material. test were pretty easy it was all based on his lectures and quizzes. RECOMMEND!
Take his class! Best science teacher ever. You dont need the book because he teaches from his powerpoints. Quizzes and Exams are straightforward and offers extra credit on every exam. I don't like studying or going to class but I passed with a B! I wish he taught every science class. He's very clear and easy going! Recommend strongly!
You must take his class. He should get the best science teacher of the year award. He's also a hot.
Excellent professor. Not only are his lectures easy to understand, but his enthusiasm actually makes you interested min the subject.
Mr.Davison is the man. He breaks it down so you can understand Biology clearly. Don't even worry about buying the book, all his lectures are from his powerpoint website. Just study and you'll be fine. Highly recommend!
Really nice guy with a good sense of humor. He throws out the lowest grade on the tests, too. The lowest grade I got (outside ofthe throw-away) was still over 100%. Study even a bit and you'll do fine.
Great teacher! Lecture notes online. Don't buy the book!
I dont see why this guy is getting all these happy faces. Hes ok but hes not great. Yes his material and outline are clear cut, but i think he is very stiff and unapprochable. He acts like a robot! I hate the fact that we are taking an exam while moving on to other chapters. Overall the class is ok if youhave the dedecation and and have no life!
Davison was overall a good teacher the testes are mulit. choice+ essays so that was hard you really have to know all the material! Theres a research paper but that was easy Be prepared to really know all about biology!
This guy made Biology a walk in the park for me. Basically, you come to class write what's on the powerpoint. read it before the quiz or exam..poof! A. His quizzes posses no challenge at all His exam maybe a little difficult, but if you study, you would atleast get a B you have to write a 2 page paper half-way through the semester..2 Pages, Come On
If you are a great listener and ONLY learn from listening and taking notes then i think you will be ok, BUT if you learn from hands on learning then DONT TAKE HIM! .. pure lecture, over all easy but you have to STUDY STUDY STUDY! if you think you can wiz by by not studying then this isnt the teacher for you
His lectures are very organized and clear. Your grade comes from 4 tests, several quizzes, and a paper. It's not difficult if you study hard, listen, and attend class. There is a written portion on the tests but he will hint at what he is looking for when he is lecturing. Overall, great teacher and always answers questions superbly.
Great teacher. 4 tests which come directly from power points. He even gives hints before tests so make notes. Easy 100pt. paper. All around good class
He's a good instructor. Tests are easy... If you come to class and take notes...easy A.....Good Luck
chris is my summer biology professor and i sit in the 2nd row of the class next to the window's and i think he is hot hot hot my class hours our 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm mon, wed.
Great teacher wished he teached all my subjects...kinda cute too...
If you show up to class, and take notes you'll be fine. It's not an easy A, but he gives you a chance if you put in the time. The lectures are interesting because he tries to relate the topic to your everyday world.
Extremely boring, monotone voice and doesn't move. We had to do one two-page topic paper, but gave everyone 100 just for doing what he said on it. Multiple choice questions on quizzes and exams with four short answer questions on the exams, including one extra credit question.
This has got to be one of the best instructors at LBCC, If you fail davison's class he didn't fail you, you failed yourself. He's very helpful, he's funny, and he constantly asks are there any questions during his lectures. he makes the test easy by telling you what to study, this guy is great, if you need bio41 take davison, for lab also.
he's awesome! i'm horrible when it comes to science but he makes the class easier. he makes the class interesting and cracks jokes. go to class! powerpoint notes so u really don't need the book. i think he has tatts cause he always wears long sleeve shirts. reminds me of serj tankian of system of a down. hes really chill and pretty cute. take him!
Chris is very helpful, and fair. you have to study as an A won't be easy. He is easier than any bio professor at LBCC. If you are disable, he gladly makes accomodations for you with respect and dignity. Take him, you won't regret it
OKAY, THIS IS A PURE LECTURE CLASS. IF YOU NEED ONE ON ONE PROFESSOR TIME DURING CLASS, THE CLASS IS SO BIG YOU WONT GET IT, AND THAT IS WHAT HELPS MOST STUDENTS LEARN, BORING, KIND OF INSULTING TO WHOEVER RAISES THERE HAND. I DIDNT LIKE HIM. TOO IMPERSONAL.
Great teacher! He makes the concepts very clear and goes over all of the quizzes and tests. I loved his class and found it very interesting. If you study, read the book and come to class an A is very easy to obtain
Great teacher! Clear lectures! 5 quiz - 4 exams (the last one is final)Quiz : 10 mutiple choice questions. exam: mutiple choice + 4 short essay. Helpful outline, u should have textbook to get an A. Very helpful teacher, answer your email right away.
Good teacher who seems like he enjoys teaching his students about biology. Yes, this is a "lecture" class, but the lectures are usually interesting. 5 quizzes, 4 tests and a two page report. Come everyday, copy the notes and you'll do more than fine. Btw, don't sweat the final, it's really easy!
Mr. Davidson is the best teacher i ever had for BIO. he makes everything really clear and he asks questions at the end of almost each slide. i took the first quiz of the semester yesterday and it was pretty easy! you dont really need the book but its helpful. if you need bio41 take him! my class is from 930 to 1045 its great. :D
Prof Davidson is A W E S O M E!!!! His "funny" jokes and fun facts make the class very interesting. You can tell he really loves Bio! His lectures & PPT slides are VERY concise AND he'll even hint at what points will be on the exam in essay form. He is by far one of the BEST Prof's at LBCC!!(I also suggest taking his Lab as well).
I did not want to take this class. However, he teaches the subject so that it is easy to digest. You do have to study. Overall, a great class to take. If he hints that something will be on the test, that is your cue to study it. Very funny and stayed after class once to help me. He is awesome!
Prof. Davison is a great teach and makes time for you after class it the information is unclear. He has awesome slides so the information is crystal clear. He is a hottie, too! Take his class!
Professor Davison is an amazing teacher!! Biology is my least favorite subject, but he made it so interesting!! Although I got a C, I would high recommend taking his class. I just hate Biology so I didn't study as much as I should have. There is one 2-page paper that you are sure to get 100% on if you follow directions.
Mr.Davison is a good Porffesor. I had to withdraw from his class but it wasnt because of him. Never was able to understand biology but Davison makes intersting. Davison is a good teacher and you must read the book. His power points are important as well.
This man is cool as a cucumber! He is a class 'A' professor. He has the coolest slide shows and explains everything in great detail! If you do not pass his class, it is not he that failed you, you failed yourself!
This teacher is a nice guy, very cool and all, but his Lab is the most difficult one unit class ever! give a student a break, it is one unit. It's not like we're trying to learn a foreign language. overall he is a good teacher, but his labs are too tough.
A good teacher, not great. He explains everything in detail and answers all of your questions. The only thing wrong is that the quizzes impact your grade a lot. I got a C because I only passed 3 out of 5 quizzes. You have to read the text but mainly understand the diagrams. And lastly if you don't take notes from the powerpoint, you're screwed.
Goes out of his way to help his students succeed. He is very charming, whitty, sweet! If you do not pass his class, you are a LOSER and a quitter. He did not fail you, you failed yourself.
Okay, so the person under this comment is RETARDED. This teacher is hard, im not going to lie. if you think you can just pass through this class with not studying, and studying a lot! you wont pass. if you fail it is your fault yes, but the teacher does have something to do with it! P.s TAKE NASH FOR BIO.
A well taught class. Could be difficult but only if you don't study. Pay attention to his examples, they help a lot! in the exams. just finished his exam today. It was pretty nice! Study, pay attention and you'll do fine! He can be funny and is a straight forward prof. I actually learned many things in his class and i'm not even into bio!
great teacher!
I didn't buy the book and both my sister and I still passed with a B..He gives good notes, just study what he gives and you will pass..There are multiple choice quizzes and the tests are multiple choice & short answer, with an extra credit question. There is also a paper that I'm pretty sure he doesnt even read because we all got 100%
Very nice teacher i would recommend him if you have to take bio ..not my favorite subject but he is very passionate about his work also its hard to fall asleep in class like other bio classes i had to take. i needed this class to graduate and had one semester to do it i passed and learned more then the last bio... I highly recommend!
this class was extremly hard, and i studied, he is rude and boring!!!!
WOW I CANNOT BELIEVE HE HAS A PEPPER NEXT TO HIS NAME. FOR ONE THIS CLASS IS HARD. U DO NOT NEED THE BOOK BCUZ EVERYTHING HE LECTURES. HIS GRADING IS STANDARD, BUT THE ONLY PTS THERE IS ARE THE TESTS AND QUIZZES. NOTHING ELSE. NO ASSIGNMENTS NOR HW. VERY HARD AND I ACTUALLY ENJOYED BIOLOGY B4 THIS. DONT TAKE. TRUST ME. DO NOT TAKE.
Davison is a very cool guy! He manages to make biology extremely relevant and interesting. He is very clear and gives you a lot of hints what to expect on his exams. He cracks a lot of jokes, often the same jokes, but it's forgivable! If you pay attention in his class and read the book (which reiterates his lecture), you will do well.
Great at teaching. He's very passionate about his work. He's VERY friendly, and his humor is awesome. Class is hardly ever boring, always interesting. Exams are usually based off the lecture. I and MANY other students totally recommend this professor!
Survival Tips: Read and copy notes, Read the chapter regardless of reading the note, and do the end questions, his quizzes are from the end questions, His tests are a breeze if you do what was mentioned above. His term paper is fairly simple, but do it its 100 points. His final is 50 questions and in my case where more about the last chapters.Work=
He's a funny hippy. You can't take his exams base on just lectures and notes. You have to read, sleep, and eat with the book if you want to pass his class.
Professor Davison is pretty much AMAZING... And nothing more to say.
He tries to be funny, but lectures are still boring! Grades based on tests & quizzes only (plus paper at end of semester).
He is very helpful, his notes r short to the point. his quizzes come from the end of chapter readings. his exams are easy, common sense questions. no hw, his paper due at the end of the semester is super easy, it is worth 100 pts:) you dont need the book, but it does help for the quizzes.
Great professor. Knows Biology very well and is very helpful. The lab class is tough for a 1 unit class. My grades were slipping in the beginning because I was clueless about how the class worked. Went to the life and science center for help and managed to pull an A at the end.
Great teacher. He is very organized, which is what helps me a lot.Powerpoint not just lecture.4 exams 5 quizes. If you go to class, study his study guides and read over your notes you will be fine!I didnt use the book at all and i think i did fine, couldve done better if i read over and learned the info in notes.RECOMMENDED
A real cool teacher, one thing i really noticed, he never loses his cool! i am really happy i took the class and am learning the material. i am going for LVN so this is right up my alley. thank you.
Truely a class worth taking if you don't like Biology or science in general. I never bought the book, and realized that I didn't need it after taking the tests. I still didn't do too well on my tests. I came out with a B even though I had two D's, and two C's. The report really helps curve your grade, so do really well on it. Study lecture notes
He is the best Bio teach I have ever had. I took it during the summer, yet it was a blast: no quizzes, 3 or 4 exams (50 multiple choices) and a term paper. I love his lecture notes, for its very clear. I did not read the book, only studied by his notes and ended up with an A. Everyone writes max 2 pages and got As :D high recommend him!
I passed his class with a B without buying that expensive book! Study his lecture notes and study guide and you'll do well! He makes corny jokes, but they were pretty funny. But his class is very hard & time consuming! And at times he's not really approachable.
Lecture is always entertaining, he's quite funny, and he makes learning bio about as good as it gets if you don't like the subject. Read the book and take notes on lecture and you'll definitely get an A. Somewhat uncomfortable talking to one-on-one, though. Still, I definitely learned a lot.
Probably the easiest biology teacher at LBCC. Thats not saying much though. The class is hard. You must study your notes from the lectures. The book isn't really needed. As the tests come from mostly the lectures. Do well on the Topic Paper. It will help you out a lot.
First of all his name is Davison not Davidson. He class covers alot of material. There are 4 exams, the last one being a comprehensive which wasn't bad at all.
Cool teacher. I didn't even open my book the whole semester. Exams are straight from the notes. Easy lectures. Notes are clear because he uses powerpoints 100% of the time. One (easy) paper due at the end of the semester. Passed with a B
Took summer class. Exams are easy if you study lecture notes. Very interesting and clever guy, does always have an answer lol. Take him! One of the best professors @ LBCC.
He is a very nice person, very funny but his test are very hard. Well for me, they are hard. I studied and studied and i still didn't get good grades on the exams. The exams are worded differently as to the study guides. If you don't understand attend tutoring, watch a lot of YouTube videos and do the study guides. GOOD LUCK!
Textbook handy, not essential notes alone earned A's. Lectures clear/concise. Many test ?s apply knowledge not parroting info (4 exams +1 min 2 pg rpt). @1st,Prof intimidating, looks like from 19th cent'y (goatee/'stache, brilliantined[?]hair) seems stand-offish,but helpful when approached. Lectures make you interested in bio, curious about world.
Textbook handy, not essential;notes alone earned A.Lectures clear/concise so don't miss. Many test ?s apply knowledge not parroting info(4 exams+1 min 2pg rpt).@1st,Prof intimidating, looks like from 19th cent'y(goatee/'stache, brilliantined[?]hair)seems stand-offish,but helpful when approached. Davison is the man! I took him for both lab and lecture, he's the best bio professor at LBCC hands down. Very fun and extremely informative. The book isn't necessary if attend class regularly and take good notes.
If you're looking to get a life science in for the sake of transferring or for graduation, Bio 41 is what you should take, and this professor is the one you should take. Textbook is not needed if you are an average to great notes taker. Along with notes you can take, he also have a site where you can download chapters outline/end of chapters.
hes a very good and articulate professor..l had to take him twice because l did not pass the first time..however, l highly recommend him.. he does require the text but if you take good notes that's all you really need. his test are a bit tough but you can pass..he requires a paper that is due on the final..take him, hes dope!!
Professor Davison is a great teacher. He makes Biology easy to understand and keeps the class light with jokes here and there. If you need a science for transfer/graduation take him. The tests are a little difficult, but they are fair.He requires one 2 page paper that is due the last week of class. One of my favorite professors taken. Thanks prof
Davison is a cool teacher but his test are very hard! he teaches biology fun but his test can kill you and your grade is based on the test so don't take him if you have a difficult time with biology
I had him for bio 41 and the lab. If you take good notes, you don't even need the textbook. He's a total deadpan but in an awesome way and has a quirky sense of humor
Professor Davison is a nice guy, but the lab is a ridiculous amount of work for 1 unit, and it's pretty difficult. Granted I put more effort into other classes but again being 1 unit you shouldn't have to put forth so much time and energy. I got an "A" in honors bio but a "C" in the 1 unit lab.
Lecture is not bad because he keeps the class interesting but his tests are ridiculously hard. The study guides do NOT help, must read the book to pass! Your grade is based on 4 exams, one topic report and the final. Super hard. only take this class if you have no other options.
I advise buy the textbook. Even tho he gives notes and such he only gives a summary of things, but believe me there's things that were on the tests that weren't in his notes but they were in the BOOK....read the book!! Tests are tricky but after the 1st one you'll know how to work them. Love his hurrrr.
Bad teacher !!
It is important to attend class because the powerpoint presentations play a major role in helping you pass the tests. There are 4 tests and a topic paper. If you score well on them, you will do good. Requires lots of studying. Big class so don't expect the teacher to know your name by the end of the semester. I enjoyed it. Good luck!
He is soo funny! I loved going to this class. It's very independent though since it's a lecture, so I recommend you study your notes every day. It's a very easy class if you attend it, pay attention and study
He was hilarious, making the class very enjoyable. Basically his test are based on the lecture so it is highly regarded to attend every class. The test are not hard, jus study for them with the lecture notes and it will be easy. Overall great teacher, i would recommend anyday.
This is a 1 unit class but it can be a lot of work! 10 question quizzes every week, 1 midterm, a noncumulative final. You do lab experiments and take notes from computer powerpoints. The labs are pointless since the tests are all from the lab booklets you use. But they can be fun and you learn a lot. Great teacher & very funny!
Took his lecture class, did not enjoy it. No homework, no quizzes. Just lecture and exams. The multiple choice exams are so hard!! Doesnt drop lowest score. If you dont do well on exams then you wont do well. I made the mistake by not buying the book. 4 exams, 1 topic report.
I'm biased-I love this Prof.Funny guy, knows his stuff, able to break down concepts into plain language.Lab book essential,do study ?s to score well on quizzes;many test ?s drawn from quiz ?s.Extra credit offered. Don't skip class-easy way to lose pts. Interesting class,Prof has fabulous dry sense of humor.
At first I didn't think this class was going to be as hard as it really was. Your grade is based on 4 exams and 1 topic report so there is absolutely no margin for error if you want an A. I wish he offered extra credit or some assignments to boost border grades. Although he is a cool teacher, this class is really difficult. I would not take again.
I retook Bio 41 after getting an F. I struggled quite a bit, and was lost constantly, but I asked a lot of questions. And I got a B. I don't even know how that happened...I literally went to Records to see if it was a mistake. Mr. Davison is an excellent professor and seriously looks out for his students. Like really.
He didn't even have to try to make the class interesting and funny. The videos he showed us as examples of bio stuff were hilarious. His tests were easy just as long as you studied. I'd totally recommend DaviSON to anyone needing a basic bio class.
Great teacher. A must take if you're finding a biology class to fill requirements and transfer. Goes strictly off the powerpoints but reading the book is also advised. Exams and 1 research paper. Even may curve at the end of the semester. If you need to finish the lab as well, take his lab.
He wants you to do well in this class. I am extremely horrible when it comes to science. 4 tests 1 essay. If you get D's on test DO NOT WORRY as long as you do the essay you will pass (essay is his way of extra credit, if you try he gives you the points)
Don't take if it's not your major . 4 test and two page essay. Tests are hard. Easy notes has online study guide
I loved Davison's class, his lab AND lecture. His way of teaching is pretty funny most of the time and as long as you study for the tests and quizzes, you should pass the class no problem.
4 tests and a 2 page paper, his test are super hard only take him if bio is your major, otherwise run! Most of the class were repeats. Trying to pass his class again.
His tests were extremely hard. Your grade is based on how you do on the exams and one essay. No extra credit. He was late every day and always let the class leave early. He does not seem to care.
He's a good lecturer. Well paced and very interesting to listen to. His class is only tests and a two page paper (which he usually gives full credit on.) He's a "best answer" kind of tester, so the tests could be hard for some.
He's a great teacher. His tests are a little tricky but if you do the work you'll be fine. The final for that class was very easy and his lab class is really fun. He's very relaxed but his classes are informed but casual. He makes a lot of jokes and lets you ask questions during the lecture and after classes.
Professor Davison is an excellent instructor. I received a B in his class but I know that I could've gotten an A if I studied a bit more. His lectures and powerpoints are directly linked to the exams. His class is concept-based. You don't necessarily have to read the textbook since his exams are straight from his lectures. He's VERY helpful !
Concept-based class and exams. Pay very close attention to his examples while lecture most of if not all are things that will be on exams. Do well on the paper and I'm sure you'll pass.
Don't be intimidated by the syllabus.Show up to class, take notes, make flashcards following the study guide using your notes, and you will be fine. I didn’t open the book once and I almost got an A. He’s not bad at all, dry humor and pretty serious but he’s a cool dude. Highly recommend him if you’re willing to work for your grade, as it should be
Very Dry lectures, need to pay very close attention in order to pass. class is 500 points, 4 tests and one paper. if you are a student that doesn't like any hands on work this is the class for you.
You have to pay attention and take notes in Davison's class. Use those notes to study for tests, but understand the concepts of what he lectures on. I got an A, but it was pretty tough. Everything that is on the tests are in your notes though. He covers everything which made him awesome imo.
Davison is great! His dry sense of humor is a hit or miss with his students, and that's my favorite part of his lectures. He's very informative and applies biology to real life situations. He knows we aren't bio majors and treats the class as such. 4 exams, 1 paper. Easy A if you pay attention and take good notes.
I would recommend anyone whose taking this class to take him. His lecture notes are pretty straight forward. He really knows what he's talking about. Points are based off of 4 exams and a 2 pg topic report of your choice. The 4th exam is the final, and it's based on the whole semester. Exams are based mostly on his lecture notes.
Davison provides a website where you can get study guides for the chapters. He uses powerpoints during his lectures and he was a sense of humor. He is very clear to what he wants. There are 4 tests and the 4th one is the final and a 2pg paper. Make sure you study for the exams, other than that you should be good. He lets class early
Davison is a great professor. I am not good at science, but I managed to pass his lecture class with a B. As long as you study for 4 exams and follow the criteria for a 2-page paper, you'll be fine. It was a difficult class, but make sure you pay attention during his lectures and take very good notes. His exams are based on the notes. He's awesome.
Professor Davison's tests reflect his lecture and the notes given to students. You must read the material and study for the exams and you should be fine.
I hate biology. But this professor made it interesting and he's pretty funny too. His tests are best choice meaning answer a & b are both right but one is more right than the other. Also theres a 2 page topic report on any subject relating to Biology, it was pretty easy though.
There were 4 exams and a two page topic paper that was due the second to last day of class. He understands that contemporary biology is for non-science majors so his lectures are straight forward and simple to understand. No homework assignments, just study and write the paper.
How he grades is crystal clear. 500 points total. 4 exams, 100 points each and a 2 page report at the end of the semester worth the last 100 points. Most questions come from the power point lectures, some require thinking out side the box. The book is not necessary. Overall Davison is a great instructor! He's funny as well
It's specially a lecture only class. Not very much interaction required. Since it's a lecture class unfortunately we sit in comfortable seats and get really sleepy very quickly.
He's really chill. Not much homework. The end of the semester we have to write up an essay, which is easy. 4 tests. No quizzes. Powerpoints are helpful. Didn't really use the book this semester.
Such a laid back professor. It can get boring at times but as long as you take good notes you should be good to go for the exams. You do not need the book; don't waste your money.
Davison is a really good professor, who realizes that the vast majority of his students are only taking this class for general education. Thus, he tries his best to simplify the subject in order to ensure his students pass. He does have some humor in him, which doesn't make the subject too boring. 4 exams and 1 report is all there is to do, study.
Do not buy the the book! Just go to class and take lots of notes, he tests from the notes.
I loved his lectures. I never missed a day of class and I wasn't even trying to do that! I wish he taught more classes. He definitely made me want to at least minor in biology. The test may seem hard, but the paper really helps. He's not strict and just wants to you to pass his class. No HW. Great guy! Easy to look at too
Class consists of pure lecture. Take lots of notes! I didn't use the book as much but it does help to study, answers all questions you may have. He also gives no homework so just study your notes and you'll be good for your exams. He can be funny at times too so class isn't so boring if you're not into Bio like I am.
fun class, lots to read but he's awsome
This professor made bio pretty interesting and easy to understand. Just 4 tests and he drops your lowest including a simple research paper due at the end. He is laid back and looks a bit like jesus. Definitely recommend taking him to anybody.
Easiest class. Talk to your classmate for resources :)
Great professor makes bio and lectures interesting. Point system is REALLY tight and no extra credit, so make sure you do well on ALL exams and paper. Total 4 exams including 1 cumulative final and a 2 page single-spaced paper on anything biology related. No book use, but you MUST take exceptional notes in class if you want to pass/do well.
An easy class, but your only grade is the 4 exams and a 2 page single spaced essay. Its great because no homework, but you just gotta make sure you take great notes and study!
Besides from he fact that hes late literally every class, hes very funny & makes biology a little easier to understand.. If you take good notes & pay attention youll do fine on the exams.. Didnt use the textbook at all. He looks like a cross between Jesus & Leo from That 70s Show..
Hes honestly a very good professor. makes the lecture class seem so chill. be prepared to take lots of notes & just pay very good attention & study your notes & youll do great for the exams.
Professor Davison is an excellent teacher. There is no homework and the textbook is not necessary. If you take good notes and know how to study, you will pass this class easy. The things he grades are the 4 test and 1 essay. This class was so chill and the material was easy to learn!
3 test, 1 cum. final, no hmw, study the notes, not a tough grader, read the book, & you will do fine. He is easy & replies FAST. He explains everything like a dictionary, great for DSPS students, kind of funny, & was pretty cool. Assigned seating but it's first come first serve. Great teacher!
Professor Davison was alright. Though he explains everything like a dictionary and is late every start of the class. It was ok. Not the best experience as everything was lecture heavy and the point system is really close.
He kinda on time coz he came exactly 15 min late every day no more than that, maybe he doesn't want to wait for the previous prof? He knows his materials! Take very good note, record, follow his study guide online! Work on paper early to get feed back and secure your A on paper. No EC but He is very helpful, ask and study, you'll get A
Professor Davison is great. He basically tests you off of what he lectures on so make sure you take good notes. He has a dry sense of humor which made the class better to get through. He only grades on 4 exams and a topic report so you definitely have to do well on them because they're such a big part of your grade. If you work hard its an easy A.
You have to take a lot of notes, listen to the lecture, and look over the powerpoints. This class has only four exams and a report. There is no extra credit or lowest grade dropped. The exams are best answer multiple choice questions. Exams are 50 questions. Sends out announcements late at night, and doesn't really explain things well.
I normally don't write reviews, I'm always looking up teachers on this website, but having Professor Davison during the summer online was truly a breeze. The class is easy to understand, he puts the power point, as well as the audio for every chapter, and he actually responds on time if you have any questions or concerns. I have no complaints.
Honestly I was a bit scared to take this class but wow it turned out amazing and I would totally recommend it. It was very easy ! And I dont like biology
I highly recommend Professor Davison, He is a great bio professor. His class has a total of 4 exam and one report paper. If You look over his PowerPoint and listen to his audio lecture youll be fine.
Professor Chris is a great professor, his class if listen to the audios and watch the power points you will be fine. I took his class in the summer, I really enjoyed, got an A . He was very helpful, fast respond to emails, highly recommended.
As someone who is not good at science, this class was really easy and enjoyable. Even though Chris Davison's class was online, his lectures and audios were really helpful. This class only consists of 4 exams (make sure to take notes on lectures) and 1 paper.
Took this and lab for winter (recommend over spring/fall). Easy and fast! 4 exams, a topic paper (2 pg, single space on bio article topic). Hes super cool and the topics are simple! All MC questions and no HW. Lab is easier. 12 labs (so easy!), 12 quizzes, and final exam (not comprehensive for lab). Got an A in both (Im an A/B student). Some EC.
listen to the lectures, take note, and pay attention to the testing schedule and you will pass. I took this class with the online lab and it is so manageable. His lectures are interesting and not too long. Tests are multiple choice. You do not need the book. He's a really nice professor, definitely recommend.
Took him for WINTER 2021 Online, no zoom, it was a fast simple class. Lots of material to help assist in the lab, lab manuals are turned in every week, and a quiz on each chapter. He does have a midterm and Final exam at the end of the course, extra credit was available.
Online class in Summer 2021 - great class, enjoyed the lectures a lot, he adds a lot of humor and it made it very enjoyable to listen to. would highly recommend this teacher.
This was the easiest class Ive taken so far. He gave 2 quizzes, 1 exam and 1 topic report. He also gives you a lot of information in his PowerPoints.
Easily one of the better online classes out there. He teaches a narrated powerpoint format which is basically a zoom lecture you show up for when you want to. 4 quizzes, 4 tests which are very easy. NO HOMEWORK/BUSY WORK! He gives around 25 extra credit points which is the equivalent of 3 quizzes. Take this guy, his 4+ rating is there for a reason.
From my experience with Professor Davison, he genuinely cares about student success and will make time for you. Although in-person lectures seem daunting, he makes the material easily digestible and will accommodate speed so you'll comprehend it. As long as you participate in class and study quizlet flash cards, you'll retain the information.
Absolutely GREAT!! I can't tell you how great this dude is. (Only grievance is he shows up 15-20 minutes late to class every week.) I took his lecture class last year in the spring, and HAD to take him this fall semester!! Quizzes are challenging if you don't study. But absolutely NO regrets. [Pick a good lab partner for a good experience.]
This was my first in-person class and it went well, the class consists of showing up twice a week to his lectures which he makes interesting. The class speed goes based on what he thinks the class can handle and makes learning the information easy. 4 quizzes, 4 tests, and a topic report are all that are graded. Tends to show up 15-20 minutes late
Great class, make sure you choose a good lab partner and you will be set for the semester. The class is constructed of a weekly lab and quiz, and 2 exams. As long as you do the study questions in your lab manual you will pass the class with no problem. Took this alongside his lecture class and both were pretty fun and easy.
We had a couple quizzes and exams and one paper and that's all you're graded on. I did not mind it, It felt very structured and that made me feel like there was a trajectory and I knew what to expect. Lecture heavy for sure. You take notes on the lecture then fill out study guide and look over notes. Review your notes AND the study guide.
Very straightforward. Put in the work and you will pass this class. Just read, take notes, and study for quizzes and Exams. Final Project is easy just plan ahead for the research.
This professor talks VERY slowly during in-class lectures, if you have difficulty with this you will not do well. The notes/PP slides do not answer the study guide questions, you need to listen. The professor is 10-25 minutes late every day, even on exam days! Quizzes are easy, exams are not. The study guide is all hypothetical questions.
Lecture is very easy and informative.I didn't go and still passed b/c of notes. As for lab, it is more difficult. Attendance is a MUST and you have pop quizzes every week based on the lab from the week before. Do your study guide and you'll be fine! Unfortunately, you don't find out your grade until the very last day of class which gave me anxiety.
My class was asynchronous so it's pretty much quizzes and exams for grades. There's a topic report and an exam for the final which are pretty simple. If you do want to actually learn biology though, take him in person and not online.
Prof.Davison is an understanding professor. I took his six-week BIO41 course. He was very clear with our assignments. He answered emails in a quick manner and compromised with you if you were having challenges.
Class is composed of lectures nearly every day, except test days. The professor usually arrives 10 minutes after class officially starts. Lecture slides are not posted online so take notes or photos. One final research paper is due at the end of the term, but you are given a warning on the first day and can turn it in early for feedback.
New lab manual required for class. Every day composed of a quiz & lab. The professor gives the first 15 minutes of class to study for the quiz. Labs are easy but the professor leaves in the middle. Everything before midterm is not on the final. Extra credit opportunity at the end of the term if you visit a nature center and write a report on it.
Honestly Biology isnt my strongest subject. However, I tried my best to pass this class and he made it possible with trying to make it easier for students. I had to miss the final due to a family medical emergency, and he has been so accommodating for me. I would take his class again.
Prof Davison's class is straightforward - just stay engaged, do the work, and you'll do well. The lectures are informative, and using unstuck ai alongside the textbook helped me ace the quizzes and exams. Definitely take this in-person if you can.
Attending and engaging in the lectures for this class is mandatory if you want to pass. The exams are based on his lectures. Overall, the subject is interesting, and he does a great job keeping you engaged.
There is a quiz every class, but if you briefly study each chapter every week you will do well. Complete the study guides and study and you will pass the class.
Do not take this professor for the 8 week class. I had a 4.0 GPA before this/took it on my last semester Exams=mind game He doesn't take attendance, become friends with someone who takes great notes. Start a discord. Minimum 486/540 points to get an A plus 10 point extra credit points for visiting a nature center.
Davison was the worst college professor I have ever had. He is unprepared when it comes to his lab sections, gives unclear instructions, and is so unorganized. The first day he read the syllabus off of his phone and had one copy of the assignment for a class of 40. His class is easy but honestly not worth the frustration of dealing with him.
I recommend taking Professor Davison's in-person lecture class because he made the lectures interesting and informative in a way that being in an online class could not have achieved. He only grades on a few things and gives you opportunities to increase your score with extra credit. Trust me, take his in-person class, you will not regret it.
This course should be taken in-person because all the materials you need for the weekly labs are supplied for you. Professor Davison has a laid back style and explains in detail what is expected of you. Quizzes and exams are based on study questions he provides. He also gives extra credit opportunities. I highly recommend his in-person class!
Davison's Bio41 courses were great. There were really interesting and engaging labs, and the lecture material was easy to understand. There were realistic expectations of students throughout the whole semester. Definitely recommend taking him in person if you can for lots of learning and extra credit opportunities!
