Most students really like the way Drover teaches. He adds alot of humor and makes the subject more interesting.Tests are extremely hard BUT u have access to the exact copy of the multiple choice of all the tests and the final. Study grould would def help
His lectures are awesome! Sure his tests and quizzes can dive into some great detail but come on... his lectures! Drover's hilarious and well yah... you'll love his class!
I have had him for all three classes that he teaches at GWC, and greatly enjoyed them all. If you make most of the lecture, and study the tests in the library a little bit, you will be good to go. Anthro 120 is a great way to fill your bio requirement.
Best teacher ever! Sooooo hoooot, want to touch the Hine!
Best teacher ever!! I am actually motivated to go to class, compared to my other classes that I only attend every other week.
I've taken both Physical and Cultural Anthro with him and wish I had another semester so I could take his Archaeology class. He's funny, witty, silly, and makes you think. He knows his stuff. His tests are a little convoluted but he'll listen to dispute.
I have or am taking every class he offers at GWC. He rules, funny, you will look forward to going to this class. If you do have trouble, check out his midterm or final from the library and study off that. Doesn't take roll, test off lectures.
One of the funniest and enjoyable classes I have ever taken. Drover is certainly one of the most beloved teachers and is a great guy. A+
Very Funny. Class goes by quickly.
I thought he was funny, but the material was unclear.
rocks
I took every one of his Anthro courses, then went on to get a BA in Anthro at UCLA. He made the subject fascinating. I was almost convinced that forensic anthropology was the most interesting subject in the world, just because of his enthusiasm. I came to my senses later. Good prof.
nice guy but his quizes are hard to study for becuase they are based on his lectures and the harris book, which are a bit unclear, but overall a good class.
Personally, this guy bores me to death. I guess it's interesting if you're into the subject... At least tests are easy to pass(if you study) since he gives your the test b4 you have to take it.
This class was pretty hard. I saw the final grades when I took his class and hardly anyone passed. He's cool but his tests were hard, everything was so unclear. The questions to his tests where things like "Tell me what color dress the lady on page 55 was wearing"...Weird questions.
i love Mr. Drover, He's funny and interesting. I'm taking all of his anthro classes. no roll taking and you can check out the tests!
drover was a very boring teacher. i had to force myself to stay awake in his classes. don't take his class unless you have to.

This professor is awesome, he is so knowledgeable. You are tested on his lectures, which means that you have to show up for every lecture. But,he lets you check out the midterm and final and you ll get every single question from it:))))Isn't that wonderful.
I love his class! Not only is he a fount of information, he is hilarious! His class seems to fly by because it is so fun. He makes every subject interesting, even classification of species. You can tell that he really loves what he does and tries to get others to care about it too. Great teacher!
He was a great teacher. Kept it interesting and made everyone laugh. Makes funny faces as well. Great class to see if you want to do Anthro
Lots of notes and hard to tell what exactly to write down...lots of "pop" quizzes so you MUST attend classes
Prof. Drover is the best.He gives you the midterm and final samples which he doesn't change at all(they are even in the same order). What else would you want!It is true that you don'really know what to take notes on because there is a lot of information that goes on throughout the semester. But,he drops the lowest quiz so you can imagine-easy AA!!
I took all the classes he taught. I really enjoyed them. I thought he was homosexual at first, but learned otherwise. He is interestingly fun. Puts study exams in library to study.. half of the exam came from those, without changing question. I just memorized and managed an A in cultural, and a b-biological. Take him, but be aware of effort needed.
He has very interesting stories and is a great teacher, but the class was soo boring.
The funniest teacher Ive ever had. Just show up and study once in a while and its an easy A.
DONT take his class ONLINE!!! So many errors, midterm and final aren't easy. You must read the entire book and every single point you can get is important toward your grade.
Dr. Drover is the best! I learned sooooo much from him. I would take him for every class that I could.
the only thing i can say is some of his story's are pretty damn funny
I TOOK HIS PHYSICAL AND CULTURAL ANTHRO COURSES, THEY WERE PRETTY EASY IF YOU STUDY OFF HIS PREVIOUS EXAMS THAT ARE IN THE LIBRARY. HE'S REALLY FUNNY AND ALWAYS HAS GOOD STORIES ABOUT HIS TRAVELING.
Drover is hilarious and always keeps lecture interesting.
Lots of lectujres and notes. I got a B because I missed a lot of class and quizzes. Some of the lectures were quite interesting, but a lot of the questions on the tests come from the lectures too I think, so it's important to go to class.
He is a really funny guy but its hard to know that you need to study for the tests and quizzes because he rarely refrences the book.
he is crazy
Loved every minute of this class Got a great grade... the study guide that was available in the library was all you needed. Go over it yourself and get a study group to go over answers with the day of mid term and final. the most intreging class and teacher I have ever had
YAWN! BORING! Dropped the class 3 times!!!
Really good teacher and it is not boring at all.
Drover is a funny guy. Sometimes. He gives out 'sample' finals and mid-terms that are realy close to the actual test. Has an online page that helps. Only major draw back is that what he covers in class usualy isn't on the final, so I end up skipping class.
He talks about things that is not on any of his test. Alot of the students fail his course because he just rambles. He talks about funny things, but the way he teaches is not right. He has a cheat sheet and does not tell you about it till the final exam. his style of teaching is not the best. Becarefull when you take his class.
This class is pretty easy and Drover's lectures are hilarious. People say he's not clear about what he wants u to study for his tests, but i've had no problems. I took all the online quizzes and attended the lectures and Im doing fine so far. This guy rocks.
SOOO boring! i never went to class! its sooo boring!
Drover is a very cool guy but classes are composed only of listening to him talk the whole time. His in classes quizes were very difficult, even if you study and yes, he does talk about stuff in class that is not coming directly out of the book so it may seem kind of pointless to some people to come to class. I got an A, not that hard if you try.
STUDY STUDY STUDY!!! Mr. Drover is a really nice and really funny guy, but study hard if you want to pass!!!
Drover is a great teacher and he loves what he teaches, but hey, you do have to listen and do the reading in order to get a decent grade. he drops the worst 2 and grades on a curve (when i took him) i learned alot and i found it to be more than interesting. you have to WANT to learn-novel thought!
this guy is a clone
He's very unclear about when he's going to give in-class quizzes. In-class quizzes are based on lecture notes and the small book he requires you to read on top of the text. Take online quizzes twice, and print them out, because these SAME questions are on the Mid-Term & Final. It helps to swap with classmates to make sure u have all questions.
Online was really easy and staight forward. You can share quizzes with other classmates on the message boards, so it made tests more simple.
Don’t expect this class to be an easy A even you do have to work hard! Tests are very hard, no any extra credit to make up points! Impossible A!
Well, if you take Anthr 120 online, it is extremely easy! I mean easy A, B. At the end of the class, I don't really understand the material and I don't read the textbook a lot; however, I got a very high B. Like other say, we share quizzes and the midterm and final questions are withdrawn directly from the quizzes!!
He teaches fairly slowly but is interesting. There are materials on the test that is mentioned only in the book. So you have to be wary. Make sure to always talk to him after every quiz/test to argue some questions. He's easy to persuade.
Dr. Drover was an excellent proffessor who made me decide to take a minor in anthro...hard, but fascinating
He is the funniest professor you can ever have. He is such an actor and character. I would love to take his class again just to listen how he discribes things. It is so funny. But tests are very hard. I mean very very hard.
You have to study to do well in the class. He will give the same exact questions that are on final and midterm as a review, but you must read and attend lecture in order to understand the questions. Seems easy at first, but it kinda isnt...atleast he curved the grades.
I took this class online and found the reading to be very heavy. All quizzes are available to be taken from the beginning of the semester. You must read every chapter and really know the info. I suggest taking some of your own notes. The quizzes are 20 min. and there are 10 questions. There are a bunch of quizzes and a final test at the end.
OK...this class is impossible to ace, the best is a B if you work you @$$ off!! the midterm and final questions & about 6 pop quizes are never covered in lecture-but he does give you a study guide for m.t and final, and the q's are exactly the same on the actual tests-just make sure you are studying the correct answers...dont reccomend this prof
I just completed the summer online course for this class, and I'm glad it's over! This class consists of 10 quizzes, a mid term and a final which are all tough unless you study hard. This instructor only communicated with us a few times for the duration of the course, so I didn't find him to be very helpful.
On the Anthropology 120 online u just go to the website and take quiz and exam, professor didn't help you anything. No extra credit. Midterm and Final are hard, 100 questions for 90 min. Don't take this class.
Drover is hilarious. For some reason he reminds me of John Cleese without the British accent. His class is super easy, you just need to go and pay attention. Which isn't a hard thing to do cuz his lectures are pretty funny.
Great lecture! Makes the subject understandable and interesting. Highly recommended!
He is funny and his class is interesting but when it comes to quizes and test I was very confused on what was going to be on the test. and when I took them I had studied stuff that was unrelated. I would not recomend this teacher.
This professor is hard. Test are extremely difficult and hard to comprehend even though I read the textbooks. I took it online and it was difficult. Professor was not helpful. He said he curves, but he really doesn't.
He is funny, but unclear about what material will be on the quizzes and tests. He would say to study one thing, and then something else would be on the quiz/test.
take his online. not too hard. but need to read the book for test. if you take his online better share your quizzes with other students, because all the questions from midterm and final are from quizzes. everyone gets different questions on quiz. seldom answer email.
His lectures are interesting. As you would imagine, as an anthro professor, I'd say he's pretty worldly. His grading system is mysterious. I thought I was gonna get a B because he said there would be but there really wasn't. He's been accused of putting ?s on test that he never really taught/aren't really in the book, either. Only 2 ppl got A's.
He says he curves, but he really doesn't. This guy is not the best professor, so take someone else.
Took his 16 week online class. You read the book and at the end of each chapter he gives you 30 minutes to answer 10 questions. Mid-Term and Final come directly from your reading quizzes. Easy class, because he gives you enough time to use your book while you take your quizzes. Recommend this class because it is a GUARANTEED A!!
Dr. Drover lost his mind a long time ago, but he definitely hasn't lost his passion for anthropology! He's funny but pretty unclear. If you're willing to work, I highly recommend this professor!
I took his online class TWICE cause the first time I forgot to take the final. I took it the 2nd time and got a D, why?? I dont know! I got A's and B's on all the online quizzes and didnt do to well on the midterm or final but I figured my grade would have evened out to at least a C...WRONG! Dont take this class, he grades unfairly!
Not sure of Course #'s- had Mr. Drover 20-30 years ago. I opted out of Social Sciences for Business-(and over a 30 yr career in business who paid for my education) but social sciences is a wonderful background for business. Mr. Drover was an excellent teacher- I had him for several Anthro classes- esp. remember Cultural Anthro-Hang in there!
He told us he was going to grade on a curve but in the end, he did not. His class is moderate. You go at your own pace. There are 10 quizzes, one midterm, one final. Only the midterm and final are on specific dates. He didn't respond to 2 of my e-mails. I don't recommend him unless you have no other choice.
Great teacher, quizzes were so easy. Was able to finish all quizzes in first week of class. Midterms and finals come straight from the quizzes so make sure you print them out. Have two attempts for each quiz. I highly recommend him if you want an easy A/B..
I have taken both Physical and Cultural anthropology from Drover, and I wonder why his rating is so low. I often skipped class, never read the text book, and just worked entirely off what I remembered from notes and I still got an A in one course and a B in the other. Drover is very passionate and that helps him get his point across to the students
Grades are definately curved. My raw grade was a c and I ended up with an A. Open notes/book quizzes and tests....easy class, really nice guy that loves what he teaches.
He was a funny teacher. All the quizzes are answers on the midterm and final so keep the papers as a study guide! It is graded on a curve and i did horrible on my midterm and final and still managed to get a C. thank god!
Took the online class. It's self-study course w/10 quizes, midterm and final. You r on your own. No study guide or detailed syllabus. Quizes were easy, midterm and final were not. If you read the book, you'll do fine, but there is a lot of material to learn. Instructor is OK, but he doesn't tell you your grade.
open notes/book on quizzes. open notes on midterm, questions fr past quizzes. hes a nice and funny guy so his lectures are interesting. im learning a lot. he makes the class easy as long as you listen and take good notes.
Best teatcher EVER! He has a dry sense humor and loves anthropology, so he makes it interesting to follow. He made me wish I were an anthropology major. Just do the work he assigns and you'll be fine.
great teacher good sense of humor. Knows what he's talking about. open note for quizzes highly recommended!
His class is very hard. The quizzes are pretty easy but the midterm and the final are extremely hard. He said he was going to curve our grade but he did not. =( There is no study guides. I never figured out what kind of questions he would ask. I do not recommend him!
You can tell he loves teaching. The quizzes are open book, but you need to study so if you get stuck you know where to look for the answer in a reasonable amount of time. As for the grading on a curve..try answering some questions in class so he gets to know your name and then maybe if you're a couple points off you get those for participation.
LOVE HIM! Great teaching style and very helpful. Anyone who states otherwise is lame. Gives you quizes to take and study before tests and those same questions are on the test. If you have any trouble you can talk to him he will help. Try putting together a study group, it really helps and he will be way more willing to help if you have one :)
Drover is a great prof: he's helpful, funny, interesting, and brings up many though provoking topics. his online blackboard has all the info you need to do good on the exams and quizzes
Took the online class. soooo easy. Skim the chapters then go online and take a short quiz. You can easily find the answers in the book while taking it. And... YOU CAN TAKE THEM TWICE! So there seriously is no way you can not get an A. And the midterm & final are made from questions from the quizzes. Oh and all multiple choice.
SUPER EASY A! he gives you the study guide with all the answers on it. He wants all his students to pass and let me switch from attending class to the online because of work. Really nice and loves what he does
Tough class. Quizzes are unannounced, and most of the questions come from lectures. You have to attend every class, pay good attention to his lectures, and study the book if you want an A. The class was enjoyable and he is very nice guy, but I wouldn't suggest him.
lectures are scattered and hard to follow. powerpoints he skims thru too fast. rescheduled mid term exam b/c it was initially scheduled during spring break. really? this was pointed out by a student btw. he's tripped out anyway- his students were weirdos too. hated them.
Took his online class. Pretty easy if you just read the book. 10 short quizzes and two exams. Pretty aasy C, easy B if you take time to read.
I took his Anthropology G100 course online during the summer semester when courses were condensed into 6 weeks. Although I passed with an A, I had to really read the chapter and not just skim through them. He also grades on a curve.
Don't underestimate this class! It's easy to pass, but not easy to get an A. The most annoying thing was that nothing he taught in class was in the exams! What's the point of coming to class then? Exactly. He is funny sometimes and has somewhat interesting lectures, but is kind of a rude and annoying person.
I took this course online. I took all the quizzes twice and watched the videos. They are not mandatory. However, the quizzes will help you on the mid-term and final. Plus, your final grade will be curved based on how well you did relative to the rest of the class and effort you put in. I got an 89 from the mid-term and final, but got an A.
The lectures are interesting and often really funny. He is a great public speaker. I thought he was so good I took two other classes with him. Just know that his classes aren't easy. Quizzes aren't announced. You have to take notes. Also, you have to study a lot for the tests.
