Applied calculus is a difficult class. Mr. Fulakis did a great job of teaching the material, he goes out of his way to give extra credit; he also is willing to meet with you for tutoring any time he is available. He is very humurous, and always has a smile on his face. I recommend him.
Teaches very well.
Great teacher, willing to do anything to help you learn. Gives lots of extra credit.
He is a very hard teacher. Yeah he gives extra credit but he had to whole class failed tests. Do take him if your not a math whiz he expects you to be. They only gave him one calc class this year because so many people failed. HARD!!!
GREAT teacher!! I never missed a class and did all my homework, he gives a TON of EXTRA CREDIT..I know how hard Calculus can be and he makes it very clear! I didn't even take pre-calc and I got an A!
New teacher, beware!!!! Very Hard class!!! Had to give extra credit because so many people failed. Avoid him like the plague!
He goes step by step on each question. Very helpful. Those who fail his tests are usually those who do not show up for class. Last couple tests are open notes and allows for corrections to be made on tests if class average is low. Tests are multiple choice, but you still need to know how to do the problems.
best math teacher i have ever had he explains everything and will go over anything you dont understand always a review before exams final was open notes there was 1 cumulative homework that was graded at the end of the semester most tests he will let you correct what you got wrong for half credit .. great teacher!
Awesome math teacher! Explains everything clearly, step by step. Last few tests and final exam were open notes. Teaches from the book, assigns odd problems for each section for h/w and works out the even problems in class to explain how to do the h/w assignments. Great person and professor! Highly recommended! (Tests are multiple choice)
He's da best
He is one of the best math teachers I've had in a long time. He explains everything very well. The tests towards the end were open notes, making them easier. He gives a ton of extra credit, which can be very useful!
Sure, he's a great professor. He explains everything thoroughly. However, he goes specifically by the book and uses a scantron to grade his tests. It's hard to pass his tests when if you get even a sign wrong, the whole problem is wrong.
Best math teacher I've ever had.
Best professor ever!
Great teach, multiple choice tests have some tricky choices to pick from +- diff. Tests have small number of problems so each one counts a lot if you miss it. but gives great test review material. Some time moves slow which makes the class a little boring. Overall GREAT polite teacher.
THIS TEACHER IS AMAZING!!!I am a Biology major and despised Calculus, but after taking Calculus with Fulakis I REALLY considered being a Mathematics Minor bc he makes it that easy. THERE IS SERIOUSLY NO WAY TO FAIL HIS CLASS unless you don't show up. His last test and final exam are open notes which make them EVEN EASIER. GREAT TEACHER!!
Took class at VCU and failed. Took with Fulakis and got a B! He explains everything! He does not leave out anything! Writes down all steps to every problem and has example problems for every problem on the upcoming test. I wish he was teaching STAT at VCU!
committed to being available to help
By far the best math professor I have ever had! Come to class, take notes and you'll do fine in that class.
What to say but that he is the best man, teacher, friend everything. He is the man.
He was never available for his office hours and we scheduled several appointments and he never showed up for them.
Chris is a great guy who keeps things interesting. He explains math very thorougly. However, his class is way too easy. My Algebra I class in 8th grade was harder than my upper-level class with Fulakis.
No syllabus. Frequently canceled or didn't show up to class. Gave too much extra credit for non-academic reasons, making tests easy to pass. Didn't grade tests efficiently. Didn't give grades to students. Spent a lot of time on non-academic subjects. Poorly prepares for next-level math. Didn't learn much. I highly discourage taking this professor.
Great teacher. Math is not my best subject, but he made everything easy to understand. I definitely recommend him!
Really easy class. It won't prepare you for higher levels of math, but if you just want to raise your GPA up a lot, MTH 166 is worth 5 creds and if you get an A will help a lot. Test are all take home and open note, book and you can work with anyone. only grades are take home test, final and a cumulative homework assignment. Very easy class.
AWESOME TEACHER!!! Everything was take home and open book! He would help you on any problems you needed help with and gave you a WEEK to do the every assignment!! No graded HW. I am taking MTH 270 with him too!! Math was finally easy for once and understandable one fault.. doesn't prepare you well for next level unless you take it with him again
Easily one of my fav profs at Sarge. Explains everything with step-by-step examples and for someone who royally sucks at math, he actually made it enjoyable by making it easy to understand. Took him for 166 also and got an A. DO NOT MISS CLASS though, he covers a lot of material. He's funny too...always has a goofy smile and a funny lilt...
Very effective teacher. If you are gifted in math, his class will not challenge you and will be a breeze. If math is hard for you, Fulakis still makes the class easy! He made Calculus feel like 3rd grade math. All our tests were open book/open notes. He always seems happy to be teaching. Do not skip class, he covers a ton of information!
GREAT math teacher. Do not miss any classes, he writes everything on the board. Write down everything he writes and you will get an A. Easy class, no need to study outside of class.
If I had to do it all over again, Mr. Fulakis would be my first pick. I have no hesitation in recommending him to others. He is just the best.
If I had to do it all over again, Mr. Fulakis would be my first pick. I have no hesitation in recommending him to others. He is just the best. I wish there were many more like him for the other subjects.
Gives lots of notes. All his tests were open notes. Very fair. Great person.
Teacher really breaks everything down for his students. You can tell he really cares about teaching math, a rarity in the J Sarge experience. HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend!
Very thorough and easy. He breaks everything down into simple terms and constantly reiterates previous material. I highly recommend him! Definitely the easiest/fairest math teacher I've had throughout my entire school experience.
Super-awesome! He moves a little slow, but that also makes learning easier. His tests are open book/open notes & multiple choice. He gives practice tests before the real tests and counts them as extra credit, & you can also use them as notes. There's only 1 cumulative homework assignment at the end of the semester. I didn't even need the textbook.
Great teacher loves Math makes it fun and breaks it down for all his students. Allowed us to move a test up just because he thought the class was getting stressed out. Tests are open notes and open book. He should recieve a gold metal for all his outstanding work in the math department.
Moves slow but teaches well.Answers all of your questions.2 tests-open notes,1 take home, 1 graded hw,exam is open notes+open book.Grades fast. All is multiple choice.Gives extra credit.Nobody fails.Used to be an engineer. He is Greek.Helps you with the test if you struggle.People take advantage and cheat often,he is TOO NICE AND FRIENDLY.take him!:)
amazing teacher! i have never done well in math and its not my fav at all like most people but i am doing pretty good in his class. i got and an a on my 1st test. i understan this math more than i understood alg.2 i wish he could teach every math i take. he is so wonderful, he takes his time and doesnt rush at all
the guy is crazy, he will absolutely take everything personal and to heart. if you show up late or leave early he will go balistic and stop the entire class just to prove a point. He also works very slow, my clas went 2 1/2 months before we finished 3 sections and had the first test.
MTH 126 was a very easy class. Mr. Fulakis was very nice at the beginning of the semester but towards the end he got very rude. When students asked questions he kinda yelled and had a fit over the questions and told us we were wrong. Easy class but mean professor.
Mr. Fulakis was nice at first but towards the middle of the semester he started acting crazy. He yelled at everybody for no reason and for coming in late. He also took everything very personally. On exam day he overslept and was 1 hour late coming in, and still expected us to take the exam. I do not recommend taking ANY of his classes.
If you're looking for an easy A here you go. He teaches very well but takes forever to explain something. Aside from the disturbances we had in class, I believe his teaching was effective. He is a little dramatic though..Also, was an hour late to our exam which was very unprofessional. I feel as if he passed everyone with an A just b/c of this.
Great teacher. All tests are open notes and open book. Notes are detailed and he color codes them while he is talking. Always willing to help and has very accessible office hours. Responds to email almost immediately.
He is a very good instructor for ppl who is new to drug calculation and boring to those who already know it. Very easy going and easy A in the class. If you never had any medical training this is your guy or easy A
Great teacher!!!! All tests are open notes and open book. Notes are detailed and he color codes them while he is talking. The best professor at J Sarge!!!!
Very thorough and easy to follow.
Easiest Calculus class ever !! All exams were take home and he gives plenty of time to do it. He also gives lots of extra credit options. Easy A. Great teaching.
This professor is a mental health patient. He went off in class talking about drugs and acting crazy. He was replaced by the dean of math due to his mental status. Easy A but he is for real CRAZY!!!
I enjoyed this teacher. He helps a lot. He goes over every problem to help you learn step by step nice calculas is not easy. Come to class take notes easy A. He gives extra credit. Best teacher anyone can ask for. I enjoyed his step by step math. You never miss anything. I never bought a book.
By far the best Math teacher I've ever had. He lectured every class and did the problems found in the homework assignments in class. Very helpful and easy going. Treated his students with respect and kindness. You can't go wrong taking Professor Fulakis' course.
Only uses my mathlab. Easy to understand.
I loved Mr. Fulakis!! Super easy class and awesome teacher! He makes sure that students understand everything. He doesn't use the textbook, just My Math Lab. I would take his class again.
He moves slowly so his classes are long but he goes through a TON of examples and explains things very well.
Best teacher ever. He will walk you through each little step and explain how he got each answer. Although class gets a little tedious for those people who don't write down every step and do work in their heads, this professor is super helpful. Go to class and write what he writes on the board in your notes and you'll get an A for sure!
Very monotone. Over explains things. If you're a complete idiot when it comes to math, this professor will definitely explain it in a way that will help you. Everyone should get an A in the class. He recommends the textbook, but I never touched it. The first day of class is exactly like the rest of the semester.
Your only grade are your tests, they're 12 questions each, but you get 12 free points in you get all of your practice test right. He explains everything in clear detail, makes sure you understand everything, doesn't give you crazy problems. If your bad at math he's amazing to take. Fulakis is a wonderful professor and I highly recommend him.
Every math class I've taken I struggled... the fact that I'm walking out a CALCULUS class with a high B is jaw dropping he is soooo slow when it come to lectures but for a math class I think that's good he is super easy TAKE HIMMMMM you will pass especially if you haven't done well in previous classes. Lots of extra credit don't have to show work..
Mr. Fulakis is an awesome professor ! His teaching mechanisms are very clear and detailed to understand! I have always been terrible at math, but not after taking this class! He taught me so much, I highly recommend anyone looking for a good teacher, to take him! Put in effort and you will get an A !
Talks pretty slowly, but is pretty easy to understand and willing to answer questions. If you're having trouble in the upper MTEs, I'd suggest trying him. He doesn't give nearly as much homework as some of the other profs who teach combined section MTEs, and he gives really good practice tests for the exam. Doesn't time you on the exam, either.
If you fear taking calculus - take his class. He is very slow and methodical about working out each problem. Extra credit is provided for each test. He definitely makes the subject matter easy to comprehend. Would take any level math from him if able.
Professor Fulakis explained the material well and I was able to understand. We had 3 test and all had extra credit. Just take good notes and do the extra credit and study some and you'll do fine.
HES GREAT. if you want to pass and kind of struggle in math or even if you dont and just need the credit, TAKE FULAKIS! he is awesome. really only take 2 test and he gives you opportunities to get the best grade.
It is extremely hard to fail his class. His lecture is very slow and great if you haven't do math in a long time. I changed from MTH 163 (a very heavy pre-cal class) to MTH 270 and it is super easy for me, sometimes I wish this class could speed up a little bit but I have no complaints here.
Amazing professor. You can tell he really wants his students to succeed. He is very detailed about his math problems when he works them out on the board which can be extremely helpful for some students although it tends to make his lectures a little slow. He gives you all the practice problems- textbook isn't required which is always a plus.
Prof. Fulakis is a good guy and a bit strange. He means well and is trying to make sure everyone does well and understands the material. He goes so SLOWLY, it killed me, but he doesn't want leave people behind. Do the practice problems and pay attention in class and you will get an easy A.
When you ask questions he explains so well and is super helpful if you don't understand how to do a problem he knows other ways to get the correct answer to see which may be easier for you.
He is the BEST math professor I have had. He explains everything very thoroughly. He doesn't like to escape any steps, for some it might be a slow class but he is just perfect. He gives reviews for the tests for extra points and a cumulative Homework 12 problems. Show up to class and easy A.
If you have trouble with Math and need a professor who does his best to make sure you understand and explain every step, you should take his class. However, he is very slow and writes steps down just like what middle school teachers would do. His class is very easy. He is a little strange, but nice.
Mr. Chris was awesome, I have been out of a math class over 10 years and this guy makes learning math super easy!. Take his class, he is well worth it.
BEST MATH TEACHER EVER! Seriously you will regret taking anyone else for calc. He's very nice and always happy to help! Please do not leave class early, its really rude. I noticed a lot of people doing it so just wanted to mention it. Also he responds to emails very fast! No bad things to say about this guy
Professor Fulakis is the best math professor or teacher i have ever taken. He takes his time with every problem and answers any questions you might have. The class consisted of Two tests, a final and cumulative homework at the end of the semester. If you show up to class, take notes and ask questions its an easy A. TAKE HIM.
If you are nervous about taking calculus, then he is the professor that you need. He is very thorough. He may go a little slow for some peoples liking; however, it comes in handy if you are not great at math or you haven't taken a math class in a while. He doesn't give many tests/homework but he will go over practice examples a few times.
Uses online book. If you struggle with math he is the professor for you. He breaks it down step by step and goes almost painfully slow over the material. Again, I'm patient because I understand not everyone catches on quickly. Extra credit on every test pushed my grade well above 100.
He was fine, but that's about where any praise ends. Attendance counts for 5% of your total grade, and if you're sick you get a hit to your grade, regardless of your standing in class. His lectures are painfully slow and he never explains why he's doing something. Tests always have things we didn't review because he doesn't explain. Don't recommend
Easiest math I've ever taken. You can't fail. Everything you need to pass is in the notes he gives, so dont miss a day or leave early. His lecture are boring & it will take 1 hour to review 2 questions. Only because he writes every word in 4 different colors. But he goes over HW and practice test which are the same as the test. Gives extra cred too
Professor Fulakis is one of the few teachers whos main concern is that you understand and that you pass, even if his lectures are long it is with the main intent that you have a clear idea of what is going on. I would take him for every other math related subject if I could! Great man.
The professor is very thorough when explaining the material. He is the Professor to take if math is not your strong subject. The class consisted of three tests, three practice tests (you will see similar questions from the practice test on the real tests, plus he gives you extra credit for the practice tests). DO NOT SKIP CLASS,he grades attendance
The notes given are color vomit and very difficult to read. Seriously, every other couple of words is a different color. Other than that, the notes are perfectly clear and show how to do the work. The tests and HW include the notes section so you can reference as you go along. Easy A, but very, very tedious work.
I took this class online and the notes were very colorful. Each test/quiz had similar examples that were on the notes. Easy A.
this professor was an inspiration. and this professor was cool because this professor provided detailed and useful notes to the class. it was up to the student to work hard and learn the actual math.
Oh my goodness I have never had such an easy A in my whole life. Everything from homework, quizzes, tests, and even the FINAL EXAM is all open notes. All of your tests, you get two tries (This is including the exam) and you get 8 hours to do it not that you will ever need that much time.) I graduated high school with a 1.7 and I have a 108 rightnow
Professor fulakis provided really detailed notes to study. I am a mathematics major and professor fulakis is an inspiration to young people who want to learn mathematics. side note - lol, why would somebody go on rate my professor to just to brag about having a 1.7 gpa in high school? whoever wrote that post "bragging" is obviously on some drugs
lots of homework . the notes are very comprehensive tho, thorough notes. respected
Homework was important. many long and very detailed pdf notes were given. Very effective teaching style because very in depth notes were provided to students to study.
Class was extremely organized. Tests were based on what was covered in homework. Effective teaching style. Gives good feedback.
cared about students. will take prof again.
Class included many homework assignments
homework heavy
Clear grading criteria
Notes are color vomit, but very clear. Pretty easy class as long as you can pay attention. I made the mistake of a 3 hour lecture and listening to his voice puts me to sleep. Very nice. Very homework heavy, but if you do it you'll pass.
His lectures are three hours long with no breaks, his voice will make you fall asleep. The notes he posts are helpful though, but for people who aren't good at math, it can be confusing at times. He goes over example questions similar to the questions on the tests or homework in class, so try to stay awake.
I had this professor for pre calc and I enjoyed this professor. I loved his teaching style and he gave a lot of extra credit. This semester I had this professor for applied calc. He would get rid of assignments because he would be too lazy to grade them. He spends the first 30 minutes of class talking instead of teaching and we would have no time.
I finished his class in the 2021 Summer semester, but I forgot to rate him. He's the best Math teacher. If you want recommendation letters. He is a reliable professor for you. His email response is incredibly fast. Thank you a lot Professor Fulakis.
Professor Fulakis was great. His lectures are pretty long, and he does go off-topic occasionally, though I don't mind, as 2 hours of straight math is too much for me. His notes are very thorough and show step-by-step how to solve each problem. He gives plenty of extra credit, getting a good grade isn't too hard. He wants his students to succeed!
i was so nervous about taking another calc class for obvious reasons but he is literally the best teacher EVER! i took his 8:45am class which sucked bc im not a morning person but he's just so helpful. literally just take him if you're worried about having a hard time because you won't with him. the only bad thing is his color vomit notes sorry!
He is an amazing professor who not only focuses on textbooks or assignments but will entertain you too. He goes above and beyond for his students, all you have to do is ask. His notes are very clear and helpful. I would definitely take classes from him again. RATE 10/10
Professor Fulakis is a very nice professor, but extremely unprofessional. Many of out class time was taken up by him showing random videos and trying to make uncomfortable jokes with the class (mostly offensive or inappropriate jokes.) Homework assignments that he decided to get rid of therefore our grade relied fully on the tests.
If you want an easy A then this is the class to take. No homework at all. 1-3 tests and the test were so EASY. The test question were the same question on the notes.
Professor Fulakis provides great detailed notes that will help you get an A on every graded assignment. You are only graded on two tests, a cumulative homework, and a final exam. All of the graded assignments are open notes and he gives a lot of extra credit for each assessment. Overall a great professor!
Best college math teacher ever!! as long as you show up for class and read over the notes that he provides for you before taking the exams, you can easily squeeze out an A.
he made the course about learning math . . . sadly, some other professors are essentially on a mission to teach absolutely NOTHING to the students . . . However, Professor Fulakis makes his class about learning math and I appreciate that
Professor Fulakis is one of the most thorough teachers I have ever had in my life. His class is simple. You arrive, and he teaches from beginning to end without going over the scheduled time. He and his premade notes are so easy to understand I barely even have to study or write. Just print out the notes and you're good to go!
Professor Fulakis is one of the best math teachers I have had. His notes are very detailed. If you follow the notes while completing homework and test, you will get an easy A. Always complete the extra credit.
He was the best math professor I ever had.
Gives step-by-step instructions for every question. Seems like a lot at first but is excellent to learn from. Very knowledgable about the subject matter. Gives extra credit. I followed along with the examples for my quizzes and did great. Overall, great professor.
Hello professor
inspirational professor
Chris Fulakis is everything he is one of best instructor I ever sign up for
The professor makes the course about actually learning math, unlike some who just aim to teach nothing. The lectures can be long but the notes are helpful. unstuck AI was a great study tool.
Very kind professor with accessible notes inside and outside of class. Classes are very lecture heavy, however he clearly outlines and highlights exactly how to do each and every math equation.
This was literally the easiest math class I have ever taken, and I cannot recommend Fulakis enough. His notes were the best thing to exist, and all his homework/tests allowed you to use them. If you're considering taking him, DO ITTT. I don't think I ever got below a 100 on any assignment, just follow the notes and you will be absolutely fine.
I loved Prof. Flakes. This man was so generous when it came to grading and made calculus something to like and not fear. This man deserves so much respect for how he helped me understand calculus when I thought I never could. Not an extreme amount of homework and he is super approachable. Wish more prof were like him. TAKE HIM PLEASE
Professor Fulakis made pre-calculus very easy to understand. His notes were super colorful, which may distract some, but it really helped me separate and process the info. He was always willing to help and offered extra credit, as well. Overall, a very supportive and effective teacher who really wants to see you succeed!!
His notes are very helpful and detailed, and we were allowed to use them to complete quizzes and tests. It is a very easy class to pass. However, I found that the lectures are not engaging and easy to get distracted from. Unless you study on your own, you won't remember the material.
