he's easy and gives a guidelines sheet for how he grades essays. As long as you follow that sheet, you'll make 100s on the essays without a problem. He's funny as hell in class too. Good teacher and easy, pick this guy.

English is my weakest subject, Prof Grooms made the class interesting (excellent sense of humor) and was fair in his grading. Lays out his requirements, if followed one will do well. Highly recommend.

Dr. Grooms is an EXCELLENT teacher. Very interesting person and makes the class fun. He is very clear with his methods of teaching and he does everything he can to help students. Seriously.. TAKE GROOMS!

Dr. Grooms was so awesome, I took another English class so I could hear is hilarious, yet dorky, jokes. He makes the class bearable and interesting. If a professor spends the first class analyzing your last name and telling you where it derives from, then he's bound to be an awesome teacher.

This is the best teacher I have ever had! He has lead a very interesting life and is highly inteligent. He opens your eyes to literature, which I gemerally don't get in to. I took a Maymester and got an easy B. I Would absolutely take another class with him. Anyone thinking about taking his class should sign up immediately!!!!! Totally worth it.

Grooms is by far the best professor that exists. He's way overqualified to be at quad C. He's got Harvard, and Cambridge teaching experience. He teaches properly, makes it interesting, and if you don't like him then you need to drop out of school and be a used car salesman. Highly recommend him. Im taking another with him.

This class is all about writing: there were about ten 400 word essays plus a research paper of 1000 words and two 600 word essays. Class time was spent discussing literature from the textbook anthology. Not much time spent on the mechanics of actually writing a paper. Had to buy an additional $58 textbook we never used.

I really loved Dr. Grooms class. He is funny. He makes things fun, but yet you still learn a lot. He actually wants to know things about his students, and really cares if you understand the material. He tells you exactly what he wants in the papers at the beginning of class, and if you follow those guidelines, you'll do great

Must take professor. Makes this class very interesting. THERE ARE No TESTS for this class. Great professor and hope to take his class again if i get a chance to. Not an easy "A" class but still should take him to really learn Literature.

I have dropped many literature courses before, i am horrible at lit in every sense of the word. I am expecting an A in the course. He is so helpful and fun to be around, grades more on MLA than actual content. no tests, not to many essays and they are only 400 words anyway.

I didn't really like english all that much. But Dr. Grooms makes it so much better. He makes it interesting and he's a very friendly person. Pretty easy, no tests just short essays and one research paper that he walks you through. I would love to take another class with him.

Professor Grooms is freaking hilarious! incredibly witty, knowledgeable, has this cool, suave vibe. His class was a pretty easy A. He focuses more on technicalities (MLA, passive voice,etc) than actual content.quiz every class, but they're pretty easy if you read. Have to re-write final in class. Other smaller essays. Overall, easy. made an A.

Great teacher/guy. He plays Celtic guitar quite well. Maymester isn't a problem if you have 3 hours nightly to devote to reading and writing a paper. Easy quiz at the beginning of every class. Highly recommended.

Great professor! Interested in everyone's success. Encourages each student to do better than the minimum they allow themselves to achieve. Immediate rapprt with his students because at the first class, he not only knew the correct pronunciation but the origin and the meaning of each students name. AWESOME person!!

Great professor. I hate literature but he makes it as fun as possible. The research paper is only 1,000 words, and all the short essays are graded on completion. There are 3 other essays (600 words) that he requires but he grades fair and will prob allow u to earn bonus points. Go to class and do the work and u will come out with the grade u want!

He is the best teacher ever for english like he will help you soooo much and he is nice and funny i love his multiple accents. and he will help you raise ur grade on essays if u just correct them amazing lol looks like a old harry potter

I absolutely loved Prof. Grooms. He is hilarious and takes a genuine interest in his students. Grades exactly by his guidelines. Interesting class discussions, and we often got out of class 20minutes in. He is extremely smart and is always willing to help whether inside or outside of class. And he remembers everyones names!

he is an amazing teacher!! if you just show up to class and do the essays you'll get an A all the essays are completion except the midterm and the final. he's really funny and remembers everybodys name and he's just full of worldly knowlege what can i say the man knows his stuff! TAKE HIS CLASS!!!

Easy A!!! Great and funny Professor and you will definitely enjoy going to his class! If you correct your essay which takes literally 5 minutes to do he will give you 10 POINTS on your essay grade!!! You have to be lazy not to make an A

Amazing teacher! He talks a lot, but he draws all of the conversation in to relate to the subject matter by the end of class. His class is very laid back, just do your work, come to class and you'll get an A. Take his class for sure!

Prof Grooms was my favourite professor in my life at Collin! He is extremely educated but humble about it at the same time. He is always willing to help, and really cares to get to know his students. I got an A by attending class, following guidelines and genuinely trying. Fairly easy class if ur willing to do a short paper each week. Take him!

By far the best professor I've taken at CCCC! He is funny & intelligent, which makes the class fun & the time flies by. As long as you show up for class, read the material & write your papers you will do well in his class.

I loved him! His classes were always entertaining and interesting. Dr. Grooms is such a funny guy. There are nightly readings and a discussion the next day. There are 3-4 response papers (400+ words) and 3 essays (600+ words), but he grades off of grammatical errors instead of content, and you can edit for 10 points. Easy A, and a fun teacher!

Reading was very tedious, and the prompts are challenging. but the essays does not ask for too much being 400 words & 600 words. and its nice that he revise and gives it back to you as completion grades. He is quite interesting and funny, and a nice professor! :) great for english1

Absolutely AWESOME professor!!! Dr. Grooms is sooo down to earth, makes class fun, and excellent speaker. He always made us laugh and cares about your success in his class. Do your assignments, don't be late to class, and you'll get an A! I highly recommend taking him for 1301,1302, and any Lit classes!

Straight forward do the work and you'll get a decent grade atleast. Its hard to get an A I've taken two of his classes and still dont know how thats possible.

Dr. Grooms is humor, and knows lots of interesting things. You have to turn in a writing exercise (400 words) almost every week, but it really helps in preparing for a longer essay (600 words).

This professor is very funny and makes class discussions really interesting. I am a better writer after taking this class and wish there were more professors like him at Collin College.

Professor Grooms is hilarious, he provides his own experience examples to teach classes. You must have your book for writting exercises and essays. He replies to emails in 24 hrs and answers all your questions. As long as you show interest in class you will get a good grade. Really important, be on time for every class!

Easy A

Take Him! Trust me its not just a normal boring English Class. He tells stories of his life to intertwine with the subject of the day in class. such a smart man! I took him Fall 2011 & dread not taking him this past spring. I still talk to him on a regular basis & chit chat with him at his office. Ask him about his Pens (he collects them!)

Great professor. somewhat easy class too. response paper due every other week and two major essays throughout the semester, plus a final. just lectures the whole class about the stories we had to read and then talks alot about the different cultures and languages and people.

Professor Grooms was great. I took him in the summer which was challenging, but worth it. I don't think there is someone more knowledgeable about English! Word of advice, STUDY UP ON PASSIVE VOICE! If you don't, you will leave his class knowing EXACTLY what it is! Overall, very interesting lectures.

Very laid back class. Lots of discussion. Do the reading, because he gives quite a few quizzes (5 questions, last question is basically 20 free points). The way he grades essays is a little frustrating, but if you have decent grammar and avoid passive voice, you'll do well. Dude LOVES his handouts.

I ended up taking more lit than I actually needed because I enjoyed not only this class but what it did for my ability to write! I loved this class and what it did for my knowledge not only of literature, but the world. I graduated in 2012, and this class is still with me (as are my text books!) Thanks so much!

This guy is awesome. Lots of passion for writing. Do the essays and youll be fine. Quizzes are easy, didnt even have to read the article to do well on them. Essays are participation based. Doesnt matter what you write about just how well and correctly you write it. Glad I took him for 1301 and 1302.

Absolutely recommend him, signed up the other day for his 1302 class next semester. Knows what he's talking about, hilarious too, and the guy loves his pens. Participation based essays besides three major essays, but he grades those pretty fairly. Attendance helps because discussions helped with the essays, really good about letting out early too.

Great prof. 5Q easy reading quiz and 400-word completion-grade essay every week, 3 600-word essays for a grade. Marks only from the revision guidelines he gives you, not content. Keep up with the work, COME TO CLASS, and you'll be fine. Fun and interesting guy, lots of jokes and stories, he does love his pens. Often lets out class early. Take him!

This is the BEST ENGLISH PROFESSOR EVER!! You do a ton of short essays for completion grades and 4 major Essays for a graded grade. There are 5 question quizzes over the reading.

Super easy class! Weekly 5 question quizes over readings along with weekly 400 word essays about the readings you did. There are 4 600 word essays as major grades. The major essays he lets you write at home, just have to rewrite in blue book in class. Lectures are pretty pointless, however he does take attendance every day. Textbook is mandatory.

He gives long lectures, easy to get bored, reading quizzes and mini essay due every weeks. The exams are easy though and if you get a a grade below 90, you can revised it and he'll gives extra points so it's easy to get an A, the difficulty is to submit all the mini essays and the reading quizzes.

His directions are clear. If you follow them, you will do well.

I have taken two classes with Professor Grooms. I was not fully focused and was still able to pass the class easily. Just show up to class, write the papers he assigns and you will pass easily. On top of that, he is a great professor and you could learn a lot from him. Collin College is lucky to have landed a professor with such a great resume.

Reading required, 400 word essay every Wed and quiz over reading material every Mon. Exams are 600 word essay written in class x 3. He is strict (don't be late or have electronics in his class) but fair. 1 research paper MLA. He will help you and give you chances to make up bad grades. You will be good at writing papers for all your classes!

Clear instructions and great lectures. If I needed any more ENGL credits, this would be my professor.

Smart, passionate about ENG. Much discussion about authors & works. Amount of reading/writing freaked me out at first but it becomes easier to write. Meticulous about Passive voice, Nouns, grammar but flexible on content. Read book, understand MLA requirements, turn in essays on time. Dont be late! Youll miss a quiz, rollcall and get stared at...

Dr. Grooms is such an amazing professor. I've taken him for English 1301-2. He has a clear syllabus and if you follow his instructions you will pass. Be prepared to read and write-HELLO college. Probably the most interesting human being I've ever met. Also go see the poor guy during office hours- it'll make his day. BTW he loves bird coffee cups

Do not use phone in class, and show up on time and you will really enjoy this class! once you finish your work you are allowed to go. Essay do every week for completion grade, and weekly quiz over material, quiz is the same questions every week.

Easiest English class I've ever taken, he really does care about how well you do in the class. From day one he makes it clear what you need to do to get an A, which is the weekly 400 word essays that are extremely easy because he only grades for completion. Attendance is mandatory but he usually lets everyone out early.

YOU HAVE TO SHOW UP! You will not pass the class with several absences. He is an inspirational teacher and makes writing fun and full of personal opinions. He not only teaches great writing techniques but also where they derive from. I loved his class and was bummed on days i missed.

Professor Grooms was such a delight to have as a professor. You will have a quiz and corresponding assignment every week as well as 4 essays. If you read the passages attentively, you should get a good grade. He gives guidelines for the essays and is very clear and helpful. He really cares about his students. Highly recommend!

I took his class this past semester and would have to say I truly enjoyed the course. Main thing is, read the assigned readings, write your assigned papers and SHOW UP TO CLASS!!! Very fair at grading, if you cannot pull of a B minimum, it's on you. I have an AWFUL academic record and even I came with with an A.
