I really didn't want to take this class, I don't like talking in front of groups and I overall I was dreading this class. Chris makes everyone feel comfortable and we are all learning a lot while having fun. Plus he is realllly hot :)

He has made this class more interesting, and has made something that is absolutely terrifying easier to do. He is unbelievably helpful, will stay after class, or if you email him he gets back to you in record time. He expects you to work, and does not always make things easy, but is a great teacher!

Okay two tests the entire semester only worth 5% of your grade. EASY grader, just speak with enthusiasm and use a powerpoint as a crutch. Easy A.

He is hot i want to marry him...i didnt mind going to class because i got to stare at him the entire time. He is an amazing teacher, knows his stuff, wants everyone to do well, hes funny and very helpful. Take this class if you want to improve your speaking skills, have fun, lauhgh and want some eye candy!

Chris is a really funny professor. Get to know him and he will really help. Practice your speech ahead of time and look over chapters for quizzes. Easy to get a good grade.

Okay i took Chris last year and took another speech class this year becasue i liked it so much. I couldnt get in to Gurrie's class so i took McCormick (sp?)...Chris is a much better teacher and you will actually learn alot and feel very comfortable speeking. His test need to be studied for but are easy if youput in a few hours.

cute and funny. mostly easy class. PRACTICE SPEECHES. not as terrifying as i thought it would be. he expects you to listen to NUMEROUUS stories about friends and his dog (wtF?) he asks things in quizzes like..what's the name of his dog..or..who's his friend he always speaks about? dumb stuff like that.. but that's the extra credit. fun class though

Professor Gurrie is fun and cute... easy class! Hes helpful and as long as you commit urself on ur speeches you're going to be finE! Gives you a lot of freedom with speeches... wich is nice! Exams are easy if u study the material... I never felt like missing his classes!

Dreaded taking this class, but it was one of my favorite classes this semester! Speaking wasn't as hard in this class because he encourages the class to rally behind each other. Did a ton of in class activities that were just for fun. Absolutely loved this class!! And at the end of the day, I actually feel more comfy getting in front of a crowd.

He is awesome I highly recommend taking speech with him he makes things more easy and makes the setting more relaxed so you wont get so nervous. I would definitely take him again

Professor G. is the man. His class was awesome. He is very funny and likes south park. Sometimes he pulls funny videos straight from yoututbe just for the hell of it. I never missed a class. I tough speech class was gonna be terrifying but with Gurrie it turn out to be my favorite class. I highly recommend him. him

Great Professor, can teach you alot about giving speeches which you will definetly need to know how to do in the future. DON'T MISS CLASS! not only will missing class hurt your grade, but you will be missing one of the greatest classes at UT!

Very good teacher. I did not want to take speech before, but I'm glad I took it with Gurrie! The most useful class I have taken at UT. Fun & Informative. Take this class, do the work the way he expects, and you will not regret it! Not hard if you take the time to prepare :)

Professor Gurrie was extremely helpful and easy on the eyes too! Such a bubblying personality, he seemed to frolick the information at us like it was effortless. I wish I could take his class again and again and again every single semester. Loved the lectures on bird baths!

not a good speaker- still aren't. got an A. actually fun class to attend, with minimum work and pretty good learning. he knows his stuff, pretty boring class in general but he makes it as good as it can get. funny dude funny stories

He is a WONDERFUL professor. This was the best class I have ever taken. I don't like public speaking and I can still honestly say it was the best class. He relates to his students so well, he is extremely helpful, and I actually learned things that I will use in life! I absolutely recommend him to everyone!

Gurrie's class was very fun, something I actually looked forward to. however... when he assigns speeches, its very vague and he expects ALOT out of you. we are not professional speakers, still trying to learn. stressful in that aspect because you want your speech/presentation to be perfect to please him, he has very high standards. fun class.

Great energy! Such a fun class to take and he is super helpful when you are new campus. I enjoyed this class very much.

Makes an easy class with his tough rubric. If you take it with another professor its an easy A but he makes you work for it. When his kids presents I look at his facial expression a lot of times he looks sleepy like he is finding the presentation crap which is not respectful. He is a cool guy but wouldn't recommend

Dr. Gurrie is awesome. He's funny & actually interacts & respects students. He doesn't talk downlecture to you but rather talks with you in a mutual learning style. Lots of presentations but gets you comfortable speaking in public. I don't know one person who didn't improve public speaking by taking his course. Plus he is just overall entertaining

Gurrie is pretty awesome. He cares and respects his students . He is pretty funny and a lot of the exercises he provides are games (like taboo) that he turns into a lesson. The class is interactive, interesting and fun.

Professor Gurrie is an amazing man. I took him for first year seminar as a transfer student. He can help you with anything you could think of. Class goes by very fast and he gets everyone involved. I wish I could take him for something in my major. He is no longer my advisor but I know that I can go to him for anything! BEST PROFESSOR AT UT!

Professor Gurrie is the absolute best! This was my favorite class and honestly the most helpful class I've ever taken. I came out feeling so confident on my speech abilities. He always gives an example template so all you have to do is follow it. He makes class fun and it seems as though class goes by within 10 minutes. Don't buy textbook!

Was nervous to take speech but Gurrie made it a really good experience! Creates really good classroom culture and gets students involved. Lectures are interesting and relevant. Sets really clear expectations and makes it easy to do well if you try. Cares about his students inside and outside of the classroom

He's the man. Always looking to help and does not want to see you struggle! He provides good feed back and will challenge you as a student. He understands that everyone is not the same and looks to make you a better speaker. If you actually want to improve your speaking skills take him. He is a real good dude! Totally going to miss this class.

Best class I've taken at UT. Chris is the man and definitely reccomend him. Truly cares about helping students especially if you ask. If you strive to improve on things you weren't so good at in previous speeches it'll help you a lot. Prepare for the speeches and be open minded to improvement and you'll do well.

One of the best professors at UT, if not THE best. He is a master in his field and you can see it. If you are wanting to become a better speaker, take his class. Better yet, just take his class anyways. You will thank yourself later when you are on stage giving a knock out presentation.

Chris Gurrie is the man! Amazing class. I took the summer session, so it was twice a week and they were 4 hour sessions. Chris is so engaging that the time just goes by. You will honestly never get a another professor like him. He is an awesome professor.

Prof. Gurrie is seriously awesome! He makes public speaking for business interesting and fun. He has you record yourself speaking on topics and then you post them to a private group page for your class assignments. You obviously do some public speaking, but if everyone is willing to participate with energy, the class is easy and comfortable!

Dr. Gurrie is a consummate professional and a truly gifted teacher. He takes a very challenging task in public speaking and fosters an environment that even the most reserved can succeed. Leads by his own example and sets the standards. Very genuine about his craft. Not a hard class, but its not a throw away. Took in the 2 week may semester.

Best teacher i've ever had.

Professor Gurrie was very great teacher from the start of the semester to the end. He always helped me know where to improve and how to go about it. Whenever I had a problem I would go to his office and he would help me think of some ideas. I would totally take him again because the class was interesting and it made me a stronger speaker

By far one of the best professors I have ever had at UT! Gurrie is very passionate about public speaking, and he will always engage the class and give you feedback on what to improve for future speeches! I personally am not a fan of public speaking, but he managed to make me feel great about what I was speaking about! Highly recommended professor!

I really enjoyed his class and improved so much in Speech. He is also a really great person, great energy, brutally honest (in a good way), and an absolute joy to have as a teacher!

Professor Gurrie is amazing! I took this class during a May term (10/10 recommend) and it worked out perfectly! quizzes weren't hard at all and the speeches went well. He really made the class get to know each other so when you're presenting, it is less nerve-wracking and he always gives time to practice and get feedback from others!

Such a nice man who really cares about his student's abilities. The class was structured great and never rushed; if he felt we had to push something back he had no problem doing so. He wrote the textbook so he knows what he is doing. Class is mostly presentations and he makes them relate to real life. This class actually helps in the real world.

Show up, complete an informational interview, and you'll get an A. If you are transferring to UT, you will feel much more welcomed and accepted after taking this class.

By far one of my favorite teachers ive taken at UT. Nicest guy ever who really wants to see you do well in the class. I emailed him basically every day and received a response back in less than an hour. He gives you everything you need to know and is always there to help and give you advice. If youre going to take anyone for this class take him.

Professor Gurrie is probably the best professor Ive had at my 4 years at UT. He cares so much about his students and really wants them to succeed. He clearly lays out the instructions for the assignments and is available at all hours for questions. He is honestly just an amazing person and professor. 100% recommend taking him.

Im not a us student Im a foreign student I took him for May term just in 2 weeks I knew how to make presentations thoroughly I have never been doing a presentation in my country I swear to god he is the best professor in the whole world not just at UT. Please believe me and take him at the end of each class he gives us jokes I appreciate him lot

Professor Gurrie was my favorite teachers I have taken at UT and I am a SR. I had some blackboard issues and he was so accommodating, helping me through the class. I would 100% recommend taking this class in May or anytime throughout the year! He understands we are not professionals (yet) and wants us to try our best! He's always willing to help!!!

Dr. Gurrie is 110% in it for his students. If you listen to him you will improve. He is always available for you and is always looking to take you to the next level. If you feel you got nothing out his class then you weren't present. He made the most complicated ideas easy to understand and has a great toolbox of resources.

Dr. Gurrie likes experiential learning. His lectures are incredibly interesting and he loves when people participate in class discussions.

Dr. Gurrie is simply amazing. His SPE 308 class is the most useful class I have taken over my college career. I can actually apply this stuff in other classes and the real world. I would highly suggest taking this class no matter what your interests or major is.

You will have a fair amount of speeches but class was great

His first year teaching Org. Com and he did a great job! He is such an amazing professor, take this class if you can! There are 4 assignments over the semester. He is very clear on the assignments and you learn a lot from him. He makes class time enjoyable. Great atmosphere and environment. 10/10 recommend. Show up to class, and you will be good.

He's a funny guy, and participation matters, so make sure you go to class. You'll read the chapter and then apply it to a case study. This class will help you in the real world.
