The funniest guy! Super into the material. He makes the class seem interesting. He posts his lectures online. Only 4 weekly writes the entire quarter. STUDY FOR THE MID AND FINAL TERM. Nothing is multiple choice.
Not helpful at all. Lectures only. No review and the midterms and finals are HARD!!! Weekly writes are few (4 for the quarter) but he grades harder that my english professor! DONT TAKE HIS CLASS! WARNING.
Very unclear, harsh grader, boring class, hard to get into
Very good teacher and also funny. PowerPoint's and notes everyday, but still interesting if you like history. Very clear on guidelines for essays and exams.
Awesome teacher! He is a tougher teacher than some, but with a little bit of study and effort, his class his not that difficult. Ask him questions in person and on canvas. He seems to enjoy the fact that I asked questions and seemed interested and didn't grade me that harshly.
He is very excited about material. Instructions are not very clear. Not very many assignments. Grades papers very heavily, it is almost impossible to get an A on the weekly writes/major paper. Midterm and Final are very easy if you study. Class isn't too boring but don't expect an A at the end unless you really try hard. Does not require textbook.
Absolutely horrible in terms of clarification as to what in the hell you are supposed to do. Grades extremely heavy on essays that he does NOT go over. Claims attendance does not matter but participation is 10% of your grade. Very boring lecture class, and like I said before, the class is solely based off of essays.
Super nice and funny guy. You can tell he loves history and liked to answer my questions. The class consisted of lectures everyday and a class discussion once a week. you're required to write at least four 2-page essays, but they are pretty easy. midterm and final are not too bad if u take time to study. Overall good class if u study and work hard.
He is a great teacher and he loves teaching. Sometimes, a student may enroll, expecting an easy "A", but they will find that Mr. Herbert is not a person to hand out A's. He does grade on a college level and you should expect him to.
Herbert has great lectures and is a really nice guy in general. HOWEVER, his class is one of he hardest I've had considering its a History class. Attendance is definetly mandatory if you want a good grade. You need to take extremely detailed notes, and the essays are a huge percent of your grade, but not much clarification is given. Overall: 2/5
His class is very fun, i always look forward to it and i'm not a big history fan either. He is high energy, very detailed and loves his job. He's always willing to answer questions too! I recommend him.
Herbert is very funny, but a really hard grader. But, this should be expected with college courses. You must show up and take detailed notes to pass with a good grade. Not very many assignments, and debates were always very helpful and fun!
He seems really awesome and laid back at first, but he is really mean and horrible when it comes to grading. I would not recommend him at all.
He is a very hard grader, especially on essays. I got a 4.0 in every English class I've taken and he graded harder than my English professors. Nice guy, but don't expect to skate by in this class or just read and answer simple questions. He wants to know you understand the material so you have to put in the effort.
Although he didn't require a textbook, there was lots of reading out of a hand out packet, and the final paper had to be about 8 pages. Notes are essential to passing, but no sweat if you miss a lecture as he records each and puts it on canvas. I enjoyed the class, though, as Herbert was kind and funny, and chose interesting topics to teach on.
I really enjoyed his class. Honestly, if you pay attention in class, take good notes, and put forth the effort an A is very possible. He is funny and likable; if you enjoy History I'd recommend him.
He is very tough!
Professor Herbert is a great teacher. He is very professional, and is always willing to answer questions if you have any. You will write a lot of papers in his class, and he is a really tough grader, but if you put effort in and write it how he would like, you will have no trouble. There is no textbook.
Herbert is a really hard grader, I thought I would hate his class but he's a really good teacher. His lectures can be interesting, yes they are long but they are worth while. Lectures everyday but Thursday which is class discussions. He's funny and jokes a lot, I would definitely take again. Your grade depends on tests and papers. Great Teacher!
Took me a while to understand what he was expecting with papers but this was an AMAZING class! Few professors are as enthusiastic and informative. I would HIGHLY recommend passing Eng102 or 235 before taking this class because, though the required papers are short in length, much of the grading relies on proper format. LOVED IT!!
I liked Herbert! He was pretty cool and chill. The book we had to read for the Major Paper was a lil boring, and i had to re-read it so i wouldn't miss anything. Didn't matter if you showed up or not, lectures are on canvas. This class was fairly easy. I got my credit.
He's a very tough grader and VERY unclear in his directions for the final essay. Not a fun class to take online. However, he is fairly helpful if you ask for it and you can tell he wants his students to learn.
Lectures everyday. Thursday is half lecture, half disscusion day for the weekly reading. Through the whole quarter, you must do 4 weekly writes from the weekly readings. Go to class, print out his slides for the lectures before hand for easy note taking. Very organized. Tests are all essay questions. It's all doable, don't slack off.
One of the worst professorsclasses I have ever taken. An essay EVERY week. Weekly quizzes are a bit tough. He should be an English teacher, not history. I was more worried about proper format than learning the history material. Helpful and quick replies. Overall, too much work assigned and very picky.
Very tough class if taking other classes that involve heavy reading. 4 out of 9 weekly writes every week on readings plus a Major Paper on a book you must ready. Test all essay questions. Papers in chicago style and not very clear in what he wants. Lecture based class and discussions once a week u must participate. I realy enjoyed lectures though.
Mr. Herbert I would say is one of the funniestbest teachers I have ever had He makes his lectures clean cut and organized. You can review all the material online, and if you have a question he is sure to be more specific and help with understanding. He's is very easy to follow, and his papers are short --- and there are barely any assignment
Best history teacher on campus: he gets you ready for the expectations of a 4-year prof. Lots of reading but nothing difficult. Wants SHORT papers, clearly written, and will give you all the help you'd ever want in his office hours. Midterm and final are tough but if you take good notes and study them you'll do well. Challenging but worth it!
Chris is an outstanding History teacher. Heres some tips: First off, you must be able to understand what he wants from you on written assignments. Also, he will give you more than enough help during his office hours. LIVE IN FRONT OF HIM. I would highly suggest taking his classes.
Dr. Herbert is the best teacher I have ever had for a History class. He has great lectures that he also posts online. If you miss something, you can go listen to the lecture again, or ask him and he will give a great explanation.
He's really funny and his lectures are very interesting. Best history teacher I've ever had.
Lectures every day that are posted on canvas with the powerpoints. No homework other than weekly writes. you are required to turn in 4 weekly writes that are generally pretty easy but he is very strict on the format. He is a cool guy and is very passionate about history. Really wants students to learn. Helps you with what to study for the tests
Prof Herbert was great! Responds to emails in an hour or so, always willing to answer questions and had really good lectures. I'm taking him again next quarter for 147 so I obviously would take again.
Professor Herbert has been a weird grader. In my essays he says that I am not being original while using a footnote. That doesn't make very much sense to me. So on that essay I received a low grade because i used footnotes (when we were told to use footnotes). Not my favorite teacher.
I took his class for History 146, 147, and 148. I don't like history but Herbert made it interesting. He is funny, a tough grader, will provide as much help as needed, and loves history. You will learn and pass unless you don't do anything to try and pass. Passing requires actively trying.
Show up to class, take notes on the lectures and you'll be sure to pass. He is super helpful with answering questions via email or office hours and is very passionate about history which makes it easy to learn from him.
Mr. Herbert is an amazing teacher, but he grades very tough. A paper due every single week, and grammar and punctuation count against you. Grades like an English teacher. His lectures are long and can drag on, but they are clear and interesting. Very smart man. Would recommend, but be ready to work.
DO NOT TAKE history with him, worst teacher ever. This class was terrible. VERY TOUGH GRADER.
Someone needs to tell him this isn't an English class!! So many papers to write and with so little notice. I don't think I wrote this many papers in English410.
Dr. Herbert was by far one of the best teachers I've had. He is very passionate about history, infact he even runs the college's History Club. His lectures are very informative and keeps your attention. He is very helpful if you ever have a question. I would love to have him again. Highly reccomend!
Prof. Herbert was truly really into his subject, it was motivating to have a teacher put in as much/or more as we do. He really cares about getting real history taught, but he grades like an english teacher, I had more corrections on my HW from grammar rather than history. I was sure I was going to fail my final and was shocked when I got a A-!
Doesn't clearly describe any assignments. A lot of writing essays and reading. So much mnotes taken everyday during the lectures.
I wouldn't recommend taking Professor Herbert. He's a super nice and funny guy in person, but he fails to answer emails, he grades papers tougher than any English professor, and he's very picky when it comes to formatting and citing. I worked two weeks on the major paper and got a 72/100. I provided accurate information and even sent him an email about what my paper was about. He told me I was off track so I asked him for help, took his advise and followed it. Then his feedback explained the complete opposite of the advice he gave me and docked me for following it. Very unclear. The first way I wrote it was right. You only have 5 assignments, 1 midterm, and the final which means if you don't do well on two assignments, the best you can get is a C. Again, he's such a nice guy but a horrible grader.
Professor Herbert is a hilarious teacher. He gives a lecture every day except Thursdays. On Thursday you discuss the reading that you were assigned during the week. The readings are given to you in a large packet that he supplys. Some weeks it is not a lot while other weeks i doubt my sanity for taking the course.
The professor is great, his class is not. Like everyone else says, he grades like an English teacher. I spent a week on every weekly write I turned in and the highest grade I received was a 9/10 ONLY because I had an improper sentence. He has very vague explanations on how he wants things done. Definitely would not recommend. Meh teacher.
Okay so his class is a little difficult to pass because there is literally 8 things in the grade book but if you pay attention, do the weekly writes, and study he is actually pretty chill.
Professor Herbert is really cool! He is really funny, gives great lectures, feedback, he is charismatic, and much more, you will pass his class if you pay attention fans take notes. He gives you a book to read for the Major Paper and you must read it as soon as class starts and make a 5-7 page Essay. I got a C- because I forgot about the book.
His class is clear and well structured. He doesn't assign busy work or anything you won't learn from. There's reading, a quiz, and a paper every week 1/2. I had to work for my 4.0. He is a harsh grader on the papers so you must be a good writer. However, you will learn not just information but to think critically about history. I would take again.
Although he shares too many personal opinions about certain things as facts, he is still very good at teaching
Herbert is easily the best professor I've had at CBC, period. His lectures are engaging and entertaining, and he records them for easy access later. You can pick and choose the short papers he wants you to write, and is an easy grader. When I was having health problems outside of class, he was very accomodating and allowed me an extension as well.
I learned alot! This was the toughest class I've ever taken. He grades papers pretty tough and this is about half of your grade. He clearly lines out exactly what you need to do to succeed and provides really good detailed feed back. Class is structured to ensure you understand concepts, and not just a bunch of fact memorization.
Chris really loves what he does and you can see it in his lectures. He a truly a gem of a teacher. He requires you to write four, two-page papers which he calls "weekly writes" (based off of a reading for a certain week) for the quarter along with a major paper that is 5-7 pages long. Beware of midterms and finals or you will die. Great teacher!
Great instructor!
Mr. Herbert is a great teacher and overall a great guy. He assigns his assignments well in advance and is willing to help a struggling student. The most stressful assignment is the major paper. Be sure to complete your weekly writes early in the quarter.
There is ALOT of reading to do. Lectures are alright. Not super boring. He puts effort into it. In the year if 2017 he used this thing called ponopto that records the lecture. So you could really just listen to it at home. But going to the class is the better experience.
A LOT of homework. Lectures are way too boring. WEEKLY WRITES. I wrote more papers in this class than in my engish class. Don't take him.
A lecture class with class discussions, and he gives participation points. You have 4 2-page papers that are based on reads. Only two tests, so its important to study. Overall he was a good teacher. He's funny and his lectures were enjoyable. Its easy to pass the class as long as you actually try. He also helps you with essays during office hours.
I would take his class again. He puts his lectures online so feel free to miss class and do it online and only show up Thursdays. He takes his job seriously, he makes the lectures interesting and fun. Its difficult for a professor to have my attention, however, he kept it interesting.
Very tough grader.
I took American History with him . He is a tough grader on the major paper, I would recommend going to his office to make sure you have rasped the criteria. He gives lots of homework & lots of reading. His lectures are entertaining. He is super laid back about attendance. I plan to take him again.
He is beyond boring. He grades like he is an English professor. Missing a comma? Minus 50 points. He gave me the same grade n everything like he never actually read it.
Gives great and super interesting lectures, he focuses more on the social aspect of history and why people thought and acted the way they did, which made it way more interesting. Not a super tough grader in my opinion, you just need to understand what he is looking for and the style he likes. Really nice and helpful guy. Major paper book was great.
Herbert is actually a great teacher! He definitely knows what hes teaching! He gives you really great feedback on your papers although sometimes it comes off as rude, but overall hes pretty great! Definitely grades like an English teacher though! You have to work for your grade! Definitely not an easy A! But I totally recommend!
People keep saying Herbert grades like an English professor. No he doesn't. English professors know that archaic rules such as "don't oops use contractions" are nonsense. Power tripping over grammar does reveal some character issues, though.
Dont take this class unless you want to write a paper a week. Grades like an English teacher which got really petty at times. I do not recommend this professor.
Hes an incredibly tough grader. I have yet to get a grade I was happy with on an essay when Im spending upwards of 3 hours writing it to his standards. I always have gotten excellent grades but this class is very nit picky. Also a crap ton of reading and work. However, he seems nice online and you WILL learn a lot about history.
Literally my favorite professor I have taken so far at CBC. You don't need to go to class since he records all of his lectures, but I genuinely looked forward to his class each day but the way he tells history is so entertaining. You only have to write 4 small 2 page papers over the quarter and a major paper. The midterm and final were easy.
Came off as a bit rude. It's a history class, so there is lots of reading. He is very nit picky with written essays, even if you have plenty experience writing CMS. His instructions for online class can be wordy and confusing. I think he would rather be teaching at a university, not at a city college. Not a fan, would not recommend.
Prompts were hard to understand and his grading is extremely nit-picky. He grades harder than any of the English teachers I've had before. Would not recommend for anyone who hates writing 2-3 page papers frequently. I tried my best with the papers and he was biased in the way he grades, he wants it his way exactly.
History 148 online "summer", Straight forward class. Put in min effort. Quiz/Discussion due every week took about an hour and 30 min. An essay every 2-3 weeks anywhere from 3 to 5 pages. His quizzes have the most unclear questions tho and it was super frustrating. His questions are trick questions. Other than that easy grader good professor.
While attendance is not mandatory, participation is, so that's up to you. Anyways, he is pretty funny and a nice person. He records the lecture so you don't necessarily have to be listening. As long as you study for his midterm and final they will be easy.
Essays every week, test and discussion every week. Tests are easy just read the readings and watch the vodcasts, vodcasts have about 50% of answers on quiz. 20 to 40 pages of reading depending on chapter. As class goes on there can be up to 8 different readings for essays but essays are only 2-3 pages long double spaced, turn in assignments any time
Herbert is a great guy and instructor. He lectures everyday and he does it well. He answers all of your questions in class and if you e-mail him he responds and answers your question. You have to write several essays in his class and he is a very tough grader.
Herbert is a tough grader, he lectures every day sometimes he would play films in class. Weekly writes 2-3 pages long, doubled space and turn it in, in class. Overall you have to be ready to read a lot and take notes in class.
Chris Herbert was a good professor, and his lectures werent super hard to listen to but be prepared to write a few weekly papers in Chicago style format. His tests are definitely hard, but as long as you take decent notes its not too bad.
Consisted of weekly discussions and quizzes that were hard. most of the quiz questions are trick questions so be aware! on top of that, a 3-5 page paper due every week instructions for the paper aren't clear and are confusing, you can proofread 50 times and he will still comment how you need to proof read it more. 100/10 recommend this professor.
He truly cares about history. He makes you think critically about the weekly essays by providing multiple sources, then letting you pick which ones to use. This is not a class you can just flop through though. I took him for Pacific Northwest History and it was one of the best classes I've taken. Overall, It was a really fun class.
Quizes based on chapter reading thats anywhere from 25-50 pages long each week takes about 1-2 hrs to complete the quizes. They are untimed but u cant go back to answers once u move onto the next question. 3-5pg. Written Assignment due every week, the topic question is confusing and misleading, he grades tough&wants things a certain way.
Herbert is a great guy and wants his students to succeed. The class can be dry at points but interesting. I would like to mention that Herbert is a bit hard to understand at first but after a few lectures you'll have his speech down. The only drawbacks is that there are few major assignment so its in your best interest to do them all.
Hes awful at grading and expects the most from you only 6 assignments total if you fail one your grade goes down doesnt teach history well is not helpful with feedback just overall lacks in teaching skills would NOT RECOMMEND beware he bribes students to give him good reviews to raise their grades he preaches that most of the class will not pass.
Hes funny, nice, and doesnt give much homework but be prepared to write a lot of papers.
Only 2 tests. A midterm and a final. Study guide doesnt help at all. Lectures every day with PowerPoint but PowerPoint doesnt generally correspond with lecture.
It's a good class overall but all you're grade basically is you're midterm and final with the exception of one major paper. you will have weekly writes and have to read your fair share to complete them but they aren't to hard.
Pretty difficult class. Lecutres every day, make sure you take good notes or your grades will suffer. You have 4 weekly writes to do, which aren't too bad. Final paper, midterm, and final are difficult and toughly graded. Study guides not really helpful, he really makes you use your brain. Funny and nice guy though and lectures were sometimes fun
Professor Herbert is a good person who expects high quality material from you. There are weekly writes, major paper, midterm and finals graded. He would make lectures interesting which was great. He is very accessible outside of class and offers help. Although he was a great professor I wouldnt take his class again because the course was stressful
His syllabus is very clear and he tells you exactly what he expects from you. He is a pretty tough grader and an A is not likely. Ive always had straight As and I got a B in Herberts class. Its definitely possible to do well in his class as long as you come to class and take really good notes... youll need good notes to study for tests!
Mr. Herbert is an amazing teacher. It's obvious that he's passionate about his job because lectures were always interesting and engaging. He also gives great feedback and grades quickly. There weren't a lot of assignments, so definitely don't wing it. If you put in the effort, you'll get a lot more out of this class than knowledge about history.
Having this teacher for my first quarter in College definitely put my High School work ethic into 4x4. His class was my mental image of college to every degree: Weekly Writes, a Mid-Term and Final I actually stressed out about all topped off with a 4-5 page Major Paper. If you are looking for a good challenge, I definitely recommend this professor
I think Herbert is a great professor and loves his job, but he grades everything like it has to be perfect, and he gives way to much to read and then write about it. He has to realize that most people have more than just his class to worry about too. and also made us play this game that took up a weeks worth of time, and it was unnecessary work.
Surprisingly I ended up liking his class and learned quite a few things. Participation is apart of your grade and attendance is very important to pass his class (also apart of your grade). Definitely need to come to class to take notes. He is a very specific grader, not much hw. But study for the exams and do as many weekly writes as you can.
This is a lecture heavy class, make sure to take good notes especially on any person he mentions. He does record all of his lectures and posts them on canvas in case you miss class. He's really passionate about the subjects he's teaching and encourages student feedback.
Would not take this class. You can tell he is knowledgable about history, but that doesn't always make for good teachers. For an online class, he was not clear about what he wanted, specifically in the papers for this class. For reference, this was the first B I've ever gotten and I'm a junior in high school, so I don't say this lightly.
He was so work heavy for online school that I had to switch out of his class. It was too much. He might be ok for in person but unless this is your only class for the quarter, STAY AWAY!!!
Free online textbook. Tough grader, but look at his feedback because it's very detailed. Learned a bunch. Great class. Great prof. Not an easy A, but it takes a lot of effort. Don't do discussions late. Turn stuff in on time. Communicate with him. Super chill dude
So much readings that has to be done, with a lot of assignment like damn bro chiilll
Prof. Herbert was a great guy, if you ever need help in his class don't be afraid to ask, he responds to emails very quickly. At least for online, there were papers every week except the weeks where you were supposed to be writing your finals. Very informative class and tests were open notes(at least for us) he is a tough grader though.
He sees through excuses, but gives great feedback. He tells you exactly what he wants from you and gives examples. The reading and quizzes weren't too difficult, but some of the other assignments were time consuming so don't procrastinate. He's an honest and respectable Professor so if you are sensitive about your work don't take him.
Not an easy A. You will do well if you study and work for it.
Professor Herbert is an over all funny guy. During Spring quarter of 2022 he was quite fond of humor and the daily dosage of dad jokes which was always a good distraction.
Professor Hebert is a good History 146 teacher. He is very understanding and will work with you. His class is composed of writing assignments and unit tests. The textbook is free, but the reading assignments are frequent and long. I recommend this course for a fast reader interested in a quick history lesson.
Professor Hebert is a good History 147 teacher. He is very understanding and will work with you. His class is composed of writing assignments and unit tests. The textbook is free, but the reading assignments are frequent and long. I recommend this course for a fast reader interested in a quick history lesson.
Okay professor. He gives very good feedback and is a fast grader, especially when something is turned in very late.
He is a great teacher, tough grader but fun class if you're involved. BE SURE TO READ!! If you don't read you set yourself up for failure. Sometimes his directions are unclear but he's wonderful at answering questions.
His tests were confusing. The reading would be one way but he would say another. High expectations.
Mr. Herbert was a very difficult teacher and did not teach well. 6 people I knew disliked him Aswell. We grades hard and unnecessarily. An example is an assignment he gives with very to no detail on how to complete. After grading my poorly I politely asked him what I cold do better. He did not respond. Countless times. It was like he wanted me to F
I really hated this class. If you learn by literally pretending you're in a historical time period (we acted out the Constitutional Convention) then this class is for you. Two text books, they were cheap though. Struggled understanding what I was learning and it was really hard, but also i learn history better through lectures. Super nice guy tho!
Not a bad professor. You will be doing some writing and that's a big part of your grade. Isn't a ton of work and not harsh of a grader. Solid
Too much work and reading, short time frames to complete assignments, test is confusing, toughest grader in history, and in general, the worst professor I have ever had. Very passionate about history though.
There were three writing assignments that needed to be 2-5 pages long, with one major research paper due at the end of the course. There were weekly quizzes and discussion posts. The textbook is free and he is easy to reach out too and communicate with. There is a lot of reading each week. The effort you put in is the grade you get back.
Do not choose him if you can't write or don't like writing essays the minimum for an essay is a full 4 pages. Does not give clear instructions for the essays, and few resources. Not attentive, makes no sense when giving instructions, no writing is ever good enough, really tough on grading.
I have had 146 and 147 and I will be taking 128 with Mr. Herbert; he has weekly discussions and tests. He has like 2-3 papers, and one major paper due at the end of the quarter. He answers emails in a timely manner. The tests are text-heavy, but if you put all the readings in a Word doc and search up the main words for the test, you are golden.
Take another Professor if given the option. This guy docks points for EVERYTHING.
Herbert is a great professor, his classes are just a little out-of-the-ordinary. If you're taking his HIST146 class in person, be warned that it is a roleplaying class. You're asked to act out historical figures, and, while daunting, it is actually pretty fun. I highly recommend if you're looking for a very hands-on class or like to debate.
I loved this class! It helped me get out of my comfort zone and taught me many useful skills. There are a lot of papers but they were easy as long as you read the material. It is not a normal lecture class but one where you are assigned a character and put into the character's shoes. His class was fun and helped me gain an understanding of history.
I loved the reacting to the past format this class was taught in. That being said, participation and attendance really matters. You will have to do speeches and there is also a lot of reading you have to do. Fortunately, professor Herbert is always available for questions even helps you during games. You can tell he loves what he does.
Was a good teacher. make sure your discussions are written well.
Prof Herbert's class has a lot of reading and writing assignments, but his lectures are engaging. Unstuck study helped me stay on top of the workload. He's a tough grader, but fair.
Nice guy but too much work. On top of our mounds of reading, our quiz, and discussion post and reply. There was a 3–5-page paper assigned each week that required more reading. I would not recommend this professor to anyone that doesn't have 2 hours a day to allocate to reading alone not including all the other work.
He was a mediocre teacher. He was a hard grader on his weekly papers. He had very specific requirements, so failure to meet them influenced your grade heavily. Take him if your a fan of writing papers and are very attentive to small details.
It was a really hard class, and I did not learn anything.
Herbert taught this class in an odd way, its sort of like learning through experiencing it. If your a names and dates kind of person then this isn't the class for you. You learn more about how the people in history felt, and the reasons behind the decisions they make. A few papers which you'll give as speeches, but are easy. I loved this class.
If your looking to take vacations or perhaps trips, do not take his class. He had refused any and all extensions asked for. Also you can not retake assignments/quizzes/papers.
I must say it's quite amusing how he seems to get History mixed up with English Classes. It's almost a talent how he can turn any simple task into a lengthy writing assignment. I wonder if anything will ever meet his, shall we say, unique standards? And those instructions? They're more like a fun riddle than anything clear.
Herbert is a fun professor. Is a rather fair grader, and gave good feedback on papers. Lots of reading but as long as you stay on top of your reading then you'll do good. Lectures are engaging and fun.
he is a good teacher. I would not take his course again though. I do not like talking in front of a lot of people so you could say I struggled. but I got used to it and pushed through it. there are textbooks and a lot of reading and a few essays depending on your person. some people might like this type of class but it was not for me personally.
I've heard pretty good things about this guy, but I can't recommend his online class. There's a lot of papers for a history class and he's a pretty tough grader. This is coming from someone who passed English 101 and 102 with a 99 by the way. The discussions are interesting, just make sure you do well on those since they ended up carrying my grade.
This class was extremely fun! As long as you do the reading, participate during class, and don't procrastinate papers/speeches, you will do great. It was uncomfortable at first, but it ended up being the most fun I have ever had in a class! He is passionate about what he does and that reflects in his teaching. I couldn't recommend this class more.
Overall, he is a great teacher, he is tough on grading but gives somewhat good feedback. Although I would not be recommended as an online course.
This professors was a nice guy overall, but was very tough on grading and there were weekly essays that he would call "Assignments". The only exception for those was when you had to work on your 5 page final that had minimal instructions.
This class was different from any other class I've taken. You learn through "recreating" history, which is actually more helpful. You have to write quite a few 3-5 page papers and give two speeches. Sometimes his instructions are unclear, but he gives great feedback. Beware, he checks work through AI detectors. I overall really enjoyed the class.
In this course you will be assigned a character and "react" to the past. While different from most classes, it's a fun and engaging way to learn. Professor Herbert is not a very tough grader, and he gives good feedback and is always willing to help. It's clear he's passionate about what he does. Make sure you read the textbook!
