Mr. Hill is extremely helpful. He puts all of the notes from the stories you have to read on the board. Only take it if you don't mind writing

Hill is a great professor. His class is easy and yet you actually learn unlike other classes. Take this class if don't mind writing.

Dr. Hill is a good teacher. You have to write a lot of essays but you get plenty of time to work on them and if you actually read the stories they're not that bad.

Pro. Hill is a great teacher. If you have to take any British Lit then take it with Pro. Hill. He know his British Lit. He breaks it down for you and puts it all on the board. There is a lot of reading to do and a few papers to write but if you follow his notes you will do fine.

He is a great teacher. He really knows the material and makes it interesting. There is alot of writing, but he makes the assignments very clear and gives you plenty of time to complete them. Let him read over your papers before you turn them in.

Dr. Hill is a great professor. He really made the class interesting. You do have to write several essays but most of them were interesting to write.

He is an excellent professor. He doesn't have the big "I have a doctorate, therefore I am God" attitude. You will learn and you will at least appreciate the material.

Dr. Hill was wonderful. I was not that interested in British Lit before this class, but he made it really interesting. Only wrote three papers with a mid term and a final also. Will definately take him again.

He is a wonderful professor. I would definately take him again. We only had 4 papers, and they are not too difficult to write. There are alot of readings, but he goes over everything you need to know in class and writes everything on the board. He did not give us any quizes, and he keeps your attention throughout the entire class.

This was a summer class but he made it so interesting that u didnt have time to think about going to class everyday. He is funny as well as hot. He does pay attention to ur papers but doesnt mind helping you and giving you advice on them. TAKE HIM! TAKE HIM! TAKE HIM!

Dr. Hill is great. The class is not a piece of cake, but he is always willing to help. We have 4 graded papers and a final portfolio of revised papers. No tests, quizzes, or final. He is a lot of fun!!!

Dr. Hill is the best English teacher I have ever learned. He really helped me sharpen my writing skills. I was repeating the class for a second time after a C and an F; I made an A.

Hill is a wild card. His classes are very self-guided; he doesn't teach all that much himself. I suppose I should say he doesn't lecture. He's an affable man, though at times very sardonic. I'd recommend his class, but it requires dedication.

Dr. Hill is awesome!! I loved taking his class even though sometimes i felt dumb because we were studying ancient chinese philosphers, but over all he is great. And my mom thinks he's hot.

Dr. Hill is great! He is genuinely interested in his students and wants them to do well in class. He is incredibly enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the subject. He knows his stuff! His class is always interesting. I would recommend him to anyone!

Dedicated, funny, intelligent, and engaging; I recommend Dr. Hill to anyone who is prepared to do the intense amounts of reading and writing he requires. I found his class to be challenging and very fun, and the fact that he's somewhat nice to look at did nothing to detract from my experience.

The best professor that I've had at UTM. Dr. Hill is interesting, motivating, and a great teacher. Be prepared for lots of papers in 111 and 112, but it IS a composition course. It is all worth the effort in the end- he assigns grades very fairly.

I thought that even though he was challenging, he definately made me think more which is something that i'd hope people would want in a professor.

Hill's class was a lot more fun and upbeat than most English classes I've taken. He gets really into his lectures. You can tell he really loves English. He grades papers kind of hard, but other than that it's not too bad. Lots of reading, though.

Dr. Hill's class is amazing. It's not hard to get an A in his class. He discussed in class what the readings are about and then what he wants you to write on. He's great. I'm taking his English 112H class next semester.

I loved his class, very entertaining. I had trouble with some of the material and assignments, though. If you did not take any of critical thinking English classes in high school, this class may be difficult for you. my high school English classes sucked so I wasn't ready for the work load of an Honors class. Dr. Hill is wonderful, though.

I wasn't prepared for this class when I came to college but this man helped me learn to write an analytical essay. You can tell he is interested in the material and genuinely loves English

This was my second time taking Dr. Hill and he never gets old. The man finds a way to make class interesting and he really gets into the lectures.

I've had this professor for 111, 112, 250, 490, 485, and mayber 360 next year. He gives the best lecture and I definitely recommend taking his class if you are willing to read and write daily and think intensely about the material being discussed.

I love him! He explains the assignments really well and the best thing is there is NO FINAL! If your not writing or editing your essay, he is explaining it! No complaints from me

He is wonderful! My favorite teacher on campus! Very helpful and funny during class. His papers are not the easiest but he explains them thoroughly and is very helpful. No final. papers. You do a paper about every 2 weeks on the readings from class. Not very hard, just do you best and use a lot of detail in your papers. I highly recommend him!

Dr. Hill is one of the most amazing and helpful professors of all time. If you have trouble with the material or even with surviving in college: he'll probably give you some tips. I know that he was great to me and I feel blessed to have been able to have him as my English 111 professor.

I love Dr. Hill! He is funny, and his classes are great. He really loves what he's doing and you can tell it! His papers are tough, but aren't too bad because he gives a lot of good examples in class... If you go to class and listen, your papers almost write themselves! Definitely, DEFINITELY recommend him for English! :)

It's been ages, but I still remember reading eastern philosophy and in the second half of the course we discussed utopian/dystopian societies. Amazing class and an interesting professor.

Took him for summer 2. his class is very fun and enjoyable. he does expect alot out of his students so if you are looking for an easy A his class may not be the one for you. but if you are willing to do some work and think about your material than his class is a very enjoyable experience and you will learn a thing or two. i made an A

Awesome teacher. He was super funny & slightly dorky. This is NOT an easy A class, but it is worth taking. Don't take this class if you can't write well. That's where the majority of your grade will be coming from. He's not easy, but you feel like you've actually learned something at the end of the semester. I'll take him again if I get the chance.

Hill is awesome! He's perfect for transitioning out of the cookie-cutter high school version of English. He concentrates on really making you think about the assignment, no matter your interest or intelligence level.

British Lit - This class was great. He found a way to make even the boring stories interesting. You definitely need to go to class. He's funny though, so it's easy to make yourself go.

He is a great teacher! I'm the type of person that has to be entertained in order for me to listen and grasp the concept and he did that. No tests or quizzes just 6 papers due over the class. Highly philosophical. Very helpful. If you are having problems he is more than glad to help you with whatever you need! Best professor ever!

As long as you can read and write at a college level, he is great. I took his Shakespeare class online, all the grades came from writing papers and participating in the discussion boards. VERY helpful, great feedback. LOVED HIM- take him for every class you can!

Amazing teacher, though that shouldn't be confused with easy. He's tough, but he'll work with students. He's very understanding and the most interesting professor I've ever had. He has great energy, and best of all, he cares about his classes. He loves his subjects and genuinely enjoys his job. Great professor!

Dr. Hill is a great teacher, but do not think this makes him an easy teacher. He is willing to work with students should they ask for it. There are 3 papers a mid-term and a final for this class. He grades based on quality of content not volume.

Had him for 111H, 112H and will have him for Shakespeare next semester. LOVE him and look forward to his class every week. Difficult grader though. Wants lots of specifics and details in assignments. willing to work with students and is very flexible.

My all time favorite professor! His class is always interesting and you learn a lot each meeting. He is always willing to work with you on your papers, both in and out of class. It is literally impossible to get anything below a C. TAKE HIM!

Chris "the Heartless" Hill is a great teacher. He's freaking hilarious. Don't take his class if you care about your GPA though, he's very VERY specific about what he wants in his papers and he'll just kill your paper with green pen. Still an awesome dude though.

LOVE this man! More of a philosopher than an English teacher, very fun to listen to and even more fun to talk to. He's very helpful if you struggle with writing essays and you have the entire semester to work on your final exam portfolio (with his help too). I wish I could take his class again, I got a lot out of it.

Fantastic professor!! Definitely my favorite professor freshman year. He's hard, definitely doesn't give A's very often, but you'll learn how to write in his class! He's extremely helpful in class and out. Avoid him if you want an easy break, but if you want a great professor, you're willing to work, and you want to learn, he's the one to take.

I seriously love professor Hill with all my heart as a professor. He's really funny, nice, nerdy, and easy to talk to. The reading was easy, the essays.. Not so much. Basically know how to write essays VERY well and always listen to him on the corrections. Be ready to write a LOT of detailed stuff. Oh and he's hot.

Dr. Hill has been my favorite teacher here at UTM. He is funny and keeps the class engaged. He doesn't make you stay in class if he doesn't have anything to say like some teachers who will ramble about nothing for days.

Dr. Hill is my all time favorite teacher at UTM. He taught me how to write a good essay and that is something that has gotten me through many other college classes. He's the kind of professor I'd take even if the class wasn't required.

Great English teacher for Freshman. Not really clear on what he wants on his papers but if you ask him he will tell you. He's very helpful.

He is a great professor, works with you and wants to help you succeed. Must attend class to better understand discussions for papers. No tests. Grades come from papers and portfolio grade at the end. Very clear on his expectations. One of my favorite English teachers to date. I would take him again anytime!

Be sure to come to class, take notes, and have a sense of humor. Dr. Hill is a wonderful teacher and will almost help you. He explains things clearly, but expects clarity and retention in essays. You have to show him you know what you're talking about.

I struggled throughout this entire class. I worked my tail off! I was scared to death I was going to receive a C in the class, but surprisingly enough I received a B! Dr. Hill is a great teacher and will help anyone! I really did learn tons of stuff I didn't know!

He is an excellent teacher. I hate Shakespeare, but I actually enjoyed King Lear when he taught it. He teaches several works other than Shakespeare. He makes class interesting and fun and you actually want to go. If you put in the time to write good papers, you'll be fine!

Anyone who does not recognize Dr. Hill as the best professor in the English department (and quite possibly in the whole university) is probably just in college for the wrong reasons. He is hilarious, brilliant, and an overall fantastic person.

Dr. Hill is quite possibly one of the greatest professors I have ever had the opportunity to know. He is a wonderful person, and a wonderful mentor. He is so charismatic, hilarious, and easy to go to class for. I look forward to his class on the daily. TAKE HIM IF YOU GET THE CHANCE. (:

I thoroughly enjoyed his class. Everyday he opened my mind more and more. He doesn't mind his students coming to him with help with the essays he assigns. He is hilarious and often compares what he's teaching to his real life experiences. I would definitely take his class again.

Amazing and so helpful! Essays are not longer than 4 pages and he always has awesome feedback no test and no pop quizzes! I would recommend him to anyone

He was very funny and really nice. He gave us a guideline at the beginning of the semester of what he expected out of each paper, and he would clearly explain important details that needed to be in our papers during class. Easy class as long as you read the assignments and take notes over what he says about the readings.

Chris Hill was great! I took him for both of my gen ed English classes. You have to read quite a bit, but it's not that bad. He lectures over them well. If you don't read it you will understand it by the time you leave the next class, but if he finds out no one is reading he will get mad.

Dr. Hill is amazing! His class is challenging, and you have to work hard if you want an A; though that should be expected since we are in college, right? He assigns papers and will have at least two tests- all of this is passable if you show up, listen & take notes, and participate. He makes class really fun and informative.

My absolute favorite professor this semester! I'm taking him again next semester and I can't wait. He makes class fun, and interactive. Definitely do the readings before class, it makes the paper-writing easier. He will sit with you and go over your papers if you need help, he's a stickler about citing sources but teaches you well. Definitely take!

Dr. Hill made me enjoy English. I hated it coming into this class, but now I am a way better writer. He assigns hard to understand readings, but if you have any questions at all ask in class and he will definitely help. I made a B on every paper, and still came out with an A. Must attend class--attendance policy. Great guy that loves his students.

I absolutely loved Dr. Hill's Composition class! We read some really interesting texts, and basically discussed them in class, then we had a few days to write a paper on the prompts he gives you in the syllabus. Unless you are a superhuman English fiend, you'll have to show up to make a good grade in this class. I would absolutely recommend!!!!!!!!

My favorite professor here! Very interesting and compelling lectures. The only assignments he gave were 3 papers, a midterm, and a final. You do have to work for a good grade, but the class is fun and interesting!

Dr. Hill's British lit class was awesome! He made even the most boring works seem interesting; I always came out of class feeling like I learned something. Go to him and ask for help on your papers, and participate in class discussions; he really likes that. I looked forward to this class every Tues./Thurs., even though it was an 8:00 a.m.

He's a great teacher who cares about his students. He's willing to talk to you about problems with your papers, gives great feedback, has a positive attitude, and makes a lot of jokes. He expects respect, but in turn he respects you and he's never rude.

Inspired deep and critical thought and gave lots of good feedback. I wish I could have taken more of his classes.

Dr. Hill is a great professor. He made lectures interesting and easy to stay engaged in. It's a British Lit course so of course there is a ton of reading so be prepared. The only complaint I have is that he does not answer emails.

I actually had Dr. Hill for World Literature 270. I showed up to class every day and he discussed everything that we had to read the night before in case there was something that we didn't understand. He explains the stories in a way that you understand and makes its A LOT of fun. He is one of the best professors that I have had at UTM.

Writing papers is challenging for me but Hill helped me so much. His classes are actually pretty fun as he's hilarious. Cancelled several classes. Only had to write 6 papers worth 5% each. For our "final" we submitted 3 papers we wrote of our choice and were allowed to make changes for 50% of our grade. 20% is participation. He's easy if you try.

Dr. Hill is one of the most passionate professors I've ever had. His lectures gave me an understanding of the literature we covered and his command of the subject matter gave me a desire to read more, and I don't typically like to read.

I had Hill for ENGL270. You will read EVERY DAY in this class. You read before class meets and the class is just him lecturing over the material. Hill tries to make it interesting though! He is a hard grader on the essays, so try on them. He also gives out random pop quizzes over the reading so make sure you read! Overall, take Hill! He's great.

Absolutely amazing professor! I'd argue Dr. Hill is one of the most genuine and funny professors at UTM. His lectures are always entertaining and keeps the class engaged. If I had another opportunity to take him, I would.

Dr. Hill is an amazing professor. He's very funny and makes the lectures very engaging. You have to keep up with your reading outside of class, and if you don't understand he still explains the reading in the next lecture. He's very helpful when you have any questions, so don't be shy to ask!
