Excellent History teacher !
THANKS, Mr. Johnson
Interesting and EASY
Chris Johnson is the coolest freaking history teacher I have ever met. A+++
Professor Johnson is by far the best teacher at Palomar! A true intellectual and a great motivator!
Totally cool teacher. You will like this class.
fun class
Wonderful teacher, entertaining, a kicked back class
I had no interest in history until Mr. Johnson. I reccommend him to everyone!
He acts, he sings and tells jokes to keep you entertained and on your toes in class. His tests are also very different and better then any other teacher I've had, what more is their to say. Thanks Mr. Johnson
Great teacher, you will not find a better History teacher anywhere. Listen and take good notes and you will do great on your tests
Very fun teacher, pretty easy. He is very upfront about what he expects and also gives out study sheets for the test. Very interesting class and it's cool b/c he give you the whole picture and makes history interesting.
One of the most fun history classes I have ever taken. Everything needed to pass tests (tests are a two day affair) is presented in the lectures. Chris runs calss like an upper division class. You learn how historical events effected the shaping of Calif.
Entertaining. Some homework. Very nice guy.
Not only nice to look at but he has a great way of telling the information so that you retain it. Study sheets are xtreemly helpful. He plays guitar and sings. I loved both classes hist 101 and 102 that I took with him.
He is incredible! We record his class for stand up comedy as well... I can enjoy history now! Thanks!
Your cheeks will be sore from laughing so much!If you're in for a good laugh, make sure you're in his class. He gives out a study guide for each of his exams and does a review the week before in which he gives you the answers. I recorded all his reviews am getting A's.Doesn't require you to read tex
How could anyone not love Chris? Enthusiastic, caring, flexable, compassionate, smart. What a great class - I never wanted to miss a day. Chris: Thanks for the abdominal workout from giggling and the new laugh lines!
He is a great teacher. He loves history. He tries to make it as interesting as he can. you will love this class.
Great History prof, lots of fun, uses different forms of teaching to get his lesson across. Never laughed so much in a history class! Thx Chris!
Chris is the best. I love history so it was easy for me to be interested but even if you hate history he WILL make you interested. He is funny, animated, and passionate. Do not leave Palomar without taking his class!!
He is both entertaining and helpful. He can cover history without putting one to sleep. He is also very open and approachable to students. No wonder why his classroom always has a boatload of people althroughout the semester. :)
best history teacher ever!
Great teacher. He lectures for 1.5 hrs and never looks at notes. He knows all dates, times, names places all by heart. Fun too. PICKY GRADER. Really hard to give him what he wants on tests. Studied harder than I ever have b4 and still got Bs.Tests consisted of essay questions requiring HUGE answers.
the best history teacher! he was so intrestin and nice and funny! i love history now!
I was never good in history but now I really like history and I can remember what I learned in the class, unlike other classes!!!
Excellent teacher. Prepares students to succeed. Passionate about history. Too bad this is just a survey course, as Dr. J has a lot on the ball, and knows far more that he could teach - given the time. Brought American History to life! A fantastic role model for future teachers to emulate!
Chris is a wonderfully nice man, a truly good and kind person. I very much like him as a person. That being said, he is woefully inadequate as a teacher. He is the first professor I have had at Palomar that felt like a community college teacher. Good for an easy 'A', but you won't learn much. (Take Bill Jahnel instead!)
He tells you the first day that history is a story, and he is the story-teller; & he holds true to this the whole semester! I felt like I was taking notes on INTERESTING "stories", rather than boring facts. He makes you laugh, and plays his guitar in class. 1 Midterm, 1 Final, 1 big project, 4 easy assignments. VERY ENJOYABLE, EASY, INFORMATIVE!!!
Loved him with a passion.. what a class.. I really wanted to come to class every day.. He tells a story and makes you so interested in all he is saying
Great teacher, loved the way he brought history to life with his stories and music. Very organized and clear, so you can take good notes and pass the tests. I hated history until I took his class. He's awesome!

Chirs is the best teacher I've ever had.. He makes History Fun and Interesting.. The way he teachers allows students to relate to the Data instea of falling asleep. This is one class I refuse to Ditch!!.. Keep up the good work Chris!
Awsome teacher! I actually remember things about history now because he makes his classes fun and interesting.
Awsome teacher! I actually remember things about history now because he makes his classes fun and interesting.
He is one of the greatest teachers I've ever had! This class is soo much fun!! Whoever said he was woefully inadequate, was sooooo wrong. I never really liked history, but now I do. The class is a lot of fun, and it makes learning easy and fun, and not a drag like everyone else's classes. Really a great teacher!!!
AMAZING TEACHER. VERY HELPFUL, CLEAR, AND FUN PROFESSOR.
Super nice guy and pretty funny too. Never "woefully inadequate!"
All hail Vespucci Land! Seriously Chris rocks! I have learned so much in his class! He makes history class fun and enjoyable. He also pushes you to be a better student and to do better on each exam. I am taking his History 102 class next semester.
Chris is a very good teacher! He makes you like History without you even knowing, and you remember what he has said. Take the class, if you dont then its your loss. Hes the best teacher I have ever had.
This guy is awesome, he tells jokes, plays his guitar, sings, tells stories(appropriate for the conent of the class)He is my favortite teacher and I recomend every one take this course. His tests are simple, you must go to every lecture, easy A! wonderful experience!
awesome teacher, but class stuffed 'cause everyone wants him!
This guy is sizzling! His classes were fun and interesting. Everything on the test is from his lectures. No Multiple-Choice B.S. He's all Essay, so be sure to stock up on Blue Books :)
great teacher the class is pretty easy as long as you take notes because all his exams are in essay form. He makes the class fun by singing or joking around.
He is such a great teacher. He makes a lot of jokes and tells a lot of stories that keep you interested. His test a really easy, there all hand written essays. He doesnt give out any homework except like 4 small assignments at the beginning of the semester. I would reccomend this teacher to everyone.
this was one of the most pathetic teachers I ever had. from his class I learned absolutely nothing, his lectures have absolutely no structure he went off on the most meaningless drivvel and was completely useless. nice guy though very pleasant.
be prepared for a sore hand... his midterms and the final is all essay! but the class was cake, it was interesting and his guitar playing helped too. lol
Tests are essay form, about a page per question. Show up to class and you barely have to glance at book. Great storyteller, makes class fun.
I learned so much from this class! World history has to be a hard class to teach because there is soo much information, but Chris makes it digestible by breaking it down into small humerous pieces! There is required reading, but don't fret, the books he chose were page turners. Anyone can tell that he has passion for what he does. Excellent Prof.
Best teacher EVER!! played guitar, funny guy, easy tests, never read the book and easily passed the class.. i wish i took him for 101.. he made learning fun!
This was the BEST classes I've ever taken at palomar. He makes history interesting, and he tries to be amusing at the same time. Come On!! He sings songs, how cool is that. He might not go from the book, but it is well worth it. It is a Must if you are taking history.
omg!!!! this guy is THE coolest professor in palomar... i took 101 with him passed with an ! and now im takin 102 and i have an A in it too!!! i may miss ma other classes but to his class i HAVE to go!! he is very nice, funny, helpful... history is actually very intresting pnce yyour in his class... and youll learn a loooooot!!!!!! lol
This dude is the best teacher (notice I don't limit this statement to history teacher) EVER!!! Period!
He is just an AWESOME professor! His lectures are fun, almost like stories - he moves quickly but he covers everything well. Word of caution - his tests are 2 days, heavy on writing, always have an essay, but his pre test reviews are awesome! Get a good tape recorder for notes and to catch his jokes again! I will take any class he teaches. A++
He is a very good and easy teacher. He is always telling jokes and if you aren't good at history he is a good teacher to take. I didn't like how he skips over wars to study social change and he lets his political bias to the left be known. But overall a great teacher
Straight shooter.Tells you what he will be testing you on, then does. You have to study but no kidding,it is college.I also think he is hott. His family is lucky to have him.He is so passionate about his job.More teachers should be like him.I hope Chris does come to believe in Jesus,he give an impression that he is a non-believer,which is sad!
i never really liked history, but after i took his class i came to love it and understand it. it's really hard to keep my attention and get into the lecture but when i took his class it changed. he helps you understand the important things (the ones that'll be on the test) and he brings his guitar and sings to you about history!
Chris is a great lecture professor. He made history come to life for me. I feel like I know the people he talked about! And I remember what I learned longer than the test, because he tells a great story. I wish more professors had the energy and courage to be like him. He throws away the book and teaches you. Be sure to go to class!
This is the BEST history teacher I have ever had. I honestly had no interest in the subject until I had Chris Johnson as a teacher. This guy is sincere, and really does his best to make the class entertained while sharing his passion on the subject. I learned the most out of this class than any other. Good job man!
This teacher is awsome and really nice and funny. i really do not like history to much, but he makes it so interesting and fun.In his class you take notes instead of reading the book which i like because all the information stick. he also plays his guitar and sings pretty good. I love his class i took 101 got a B+ now i am taking his 102 class.
Johnson is charismatic and catches your attention from day one. The class work was only 3 exams. You have a choice of either a research paper or presentation, DO THE PRESENTATION! LEss than 5 mins for A! Somewhere along the way, you are entertained and surprisingly learn a lot about ouR history! GREAT CLASS! Easy grader!
Great teacher, loved him. Did not know the material as well as he knows US history. Still enjoyed the class. You need to go to class and take lots of notes. Tests are all essay.
Chris is a great teacher - fun, funny, and obviously loves his field. His tests are hard though! Be prepared to write a lot in this class.
Excellent Teacher!
I took 101 and 102 best teacer ever, funny and suppeer clear test are easy and if you cant pass well then you did not atend the class. atendince not required only have to show up for the test but if you dont go... no candy and jokes for you
As long as you go to class, take notes...you are good to go! Very HELPFUL. You don't just memorize the material, but learn because of his teaching style!!! BEST HISTORY PROF. that palomar has....I AM NOT KIDDING! You actually do not mind going to class! Trust me take him!
It is really fun to be in his classs. He is a cool teacher. He knows history very Good!! Excellent Professor
Great teacher, fun interesting, doesn't use power point which i really like, he actually talks to the class. He's very passionate about history. The class is not hard if you come and take notes, his three test are based off his notes. Tests are fair and there are only 3 plus one small paper (3pgs). I really liked his class.
if you half ass a test you can still maybe get a C, but why not study at night and get an A
Love him! His class was fun, entertaining, I like when he plays the guitar. Important to come to class, all info is from lectures. Tests are essay and upwards of 7 pages for a good grade! Borken up into 2 classes. But not hard if you come to class and study. He gives you a study sheet with poss. questions.
I loved him. The only class I looked forward to. He is hilarious and has a bunch of crazy stories. Tests are simple you just gotta study a little. Alot of notes but he'll stop and tell you when theres a test identification. Great guy. Talks about History in a stand-up comedy style
good class.
I really enjoyed listening to his lectures. He made history fun by playing his gutaire, telling jokes, and just his personality. Word to the wise: KNOW your identifications for the tests!!!
Dr. Johnson is a great professor. His teaching style is lecturing, so be prepared to take a lot of notes. I recommend recording his lectures for review later. He gives you the tests in advance so make sure to know the IDs! He cracks jokes and sometimes plays his guitar. Don't buy the text book, you don't need it. I got an A.
A great professor. Very clear, engaging, and compatible. He teaches his own class I.e. he doesnâ??t use the textbook (only as much as is required). You can do the txt book assignments in the Library in two hours and never have to buy the book. He will keep you engaged with stories, songs, and questions. Pay attention, take notes, and study for
Great teacher. He knows his stuff. Had a great time in class.
He made history very interesting by telling stories. He tends to get off topic and drag on a bit about things, but he's very entertaining. You don't really need your text books except for a few worksheets due at the end of the semester. I highly recommend him!
Chair of the department and it shows. He absolutely loves history and speaks about it as such. Most everyone enjoys his classes and he conducts the course in a non-stressful manner. Show up, listen, learn, pass. Add basic notetaking for studying and it's an easy A with some knowledge to show for it.
I've taken multiple classes with Johnson. He is my favorite teacher ever, hands down. He expects good quality work from you, and if you pay attention it isn't hard to deliver. He is really funny, and will bring his guitar in occasionally to sing a song of a time period you are studying. He gave me a B, I give him a A+++
Best class I have taken at Palomar by far!! I wish I was able to take him again! He is absolutely wonderful!! Be ready for lots and lots of note taking, funny stories and jokes, and if your lucky he will even sing to you! I looked forward to his class every week. I highly recommend him! Thanks chris for a wonderful semester
Johnson is not nearly as funny or informed about World History as he is about US and CA, but he's still an enjoyable lecturer nonetheless. Enjoy yourself and get an easy A at the same time!
Awesome class. If you have any interest in history or need history credit, take Cal history!!! He's a great teacher, and funny if you have good humor. Lectures, but easy class with moderate tests and a rad project.
Very approachable teacher. His lectures are more like stories. He's very interested in what he does and is good at describing the information. He also does a good job at letting the students know what he's expecting on tests.
WOW...I'm not sure where all of you people are coming from saying he is a good teacher. He is nearly impossible to follow(skips around A LOT)no textbook, if you think he is funny you need to get a new sense of humor,2 MIDTERMS (wtf?) that are pretty involved, super Liberal which gets annoying in lectures, not a good professor, how is he dept. head?
This guy is pretty funny! He makes random little comments and tidbits during class which keep you engaged to what he's talking about. He talks the whole period, but it's not boring. He teaches history as a story, not a boring lecture. For the midterms (2) if you take thorough notes in class, you can pretty much retell him the story he told and pass
I have had Chris for 2 history courses at Palomar. He is the best professor. You have to know the information to do well on the exams. As long as you show up to class and take detailed notes on what he says you will do well on the test. I highly recommend his History classes! I got an A both semesters, but worked for it.
He is a great professor. Before the his class I had very little interest but his class was very informative and easy to follow. I learned a lot and didn't struggle to get a good grade. He is very helpful to his students when they are having a hard time.I recommend taking his class if you want a good grade. Plus he's funny and class was enjoyable.
Awesome teacher very friendly and informative as long as you show up to class and take notes and look over notes before tests you will get an a
Great teacher and really easy to follow. You don't really need the book, only for a couple of really easy assignments. All you have to do is show up to class and take notes. The test are all based on lectures. He is really entertaining! I really recommend him!
Great professor, easy class all you need to do is go to class and listen and take notes. You take note all the class days nothing else but that.he does not give A LOT of homework great personality some may think he is a bit weird because of the stories he tells, but he is funny.the test are about what he takes about in class in your notes. he sings to
Professor Johnson is very helpful. I really recommend taking his class. if you go to class everyday, pay attention and take good notes you will pass his class easily. All the tests are based on the material he covers in class. he gives the study guide about 2 weeks before the test. Not a lot of homework, and he always replies to your emails.
Great teacher that makes the class very interesting the assignments were a two page paper on a short book and a three page research paper and a not very long worksheet from the textbook. One negative would be you for the most part have to take notes just from him talking and he talks kind of fast.
easiest history class ever. Attendance not mandatory, never surprised on tests (everything on the test is on your study guide) Super Nice guy! Defiantly take his class
BEST PROFESSOR EVER! He is so easy, he tells your exactly whats on the test, you barely have any hw, and he brings in his guitar and sings. Awesome class!
Chris Johnson is probably the best history teacher I've ever had. If you take good note then It's an easy A. He cares about his students and does anything he can to help you get pass.
Probably one of the best teachers out there ! 2 midterms but super straight forward, if you want a laid back teacher who sings and plays guitar then this is they guy for you.
Great professor. He is really caring, explains everything really well. But he does talk fast, that is why it is super important to focus during the class.
Dr Johnson is the bomb. He's vivacious & funny & made American History, which I once thought was a boring subject, very interesting. Almost no book work, don't buy the book. Exams based on his lectures, which are fun & concise so it's not that bad. Laidback, witty, & overall cool guy. Would recommend to a friend.
One tip, do not buy the book. It is simply on his lectures he is very laid back and chill! He cares about his students and wants everyone to pass. A true sweetheart, definitely will be taking him for history 102! Glad I took him!!! Thank you again Professor Johnson.. Super EASY!
WONDERFUL teacher. Learned so much, graded fairly, and if you show up and take notes, you will be good to go!
Professor Johnson wants nothing but students' success. He is very helpful. His lecture is interesting, but he talks fast, and his writing is kind messy. Required to take GOOD NOTES in order to pass the exams since he does not use the text book during his lecture. We need to provide good info on essay exams, but if we study well, no prob!
Take VERY good notes, even the stuff he doesn't write on the board, and you'll get a good grade in the class. He doesn't take attendance everyday, but if you're not there for the notes, you'll hurt your chances of getting a good grade in the class. Overall great teacher, laid back, good sense of humor. Also good on the guitar...
Just show up listen to him, study the study guide every test, and do the 2 papers and questions due at the end of the semester and u pass.
Great people person, funny, and overall enjoyable class atmosphere. TAKE NOTES - cannot stress this enough. Show up to class and listen; be attentive because it pays off. I didn't like my History teacher in high school, but Johnson made me actually interested in learning
Tests are based solely on notes, so it ic crucial to SHOW UP TO CLASS and TAKE GOOD NOTES. Attendance isn''t mandatory, but your will struggle on the exams if you don't have the notes. Chris is an AWESOME PROFESSOR!!!!! I used to hate history, but he makes it fun an interesting. Just go to class, take notes, and study. This is college after all.
Dr. Chris Johnson is one of the best history professors at Palomar College. You will pass his class with a C. If you put in average work, you will get a B. In order to get an A, you have to work a lot harder. Just show up to class and take meticulous notes. His tests are based off the notes.
Chris is hands down the best teacher I have ever had at Palomar! He is always willing to help you if you have any questions at all and his class is overall pretty easy... Just make sure you study for the Exams and you'll do just fine!
Chris is great! I loved him so much, I took him for another class the next semester. He's very enthusiastic about the subject matter, he sings songs, and only requires a few short response papers and an awesome project! Show up, take notes, and crack jokes with him, and you'll do great!
Chris is the best teacher I've had at Palomar. He is so helpful and you can tell he truly loves what he is doing! Took him for 102 as well. Just an overall great guy and made history more interesting for me!
Very very good teacher! He makes history actually interesting because he jokes around to make it fun and intriguing. I am definitely taking him for history 102 as well.
Chris is the best history teacher at Palomar. Funny and laid back. This guy knows history inside-out and upside-down. Just take really good notes and you will get an A
A very interesting professor. He makes the class engaging and makes you think. However he doesn't make it overly hard on you so you can just focus on doing well. He's funny and enthusiastic. Textbook is optional. He really isn't picky when it comes to content of papers as long as you know what you're talking about. Definitely take him!
Chris Johnson is one of the best college professors that I have ever had. I'm not that into history but the way that he teaches the class I finally understand history. He tells all his lecture as story. Really interesting and smart guy. Clear about what's on the test really easy. Take good notes and show up for all classes. And you will pass.
Before taking this class I hated history but Chris made this class so interesting and fun to come to. I really enjoyed his class even with how difficult it was. His tests are 2 days long. Day 1=5 short answer day 2=1 essay. Very specific in what he wants you to write in your essay but still great class guaranteed to entertain at least
Dr. Johnson is hands down awesome at what he does. attendance may not be mandatory BUT missing a day means missing some good info. The text book is only used for three, 10-12 question worksheets but the true stories book is a must. you are required to write 3 one page essay out of this book. i received a B and had a blast taking his class.
Great history professor. i thought his class was pretty easy. We only took 3 tests that consisted of identification and essay, based on notes we took in class. Although attendance is not mandatory, its the notes you take that determines your grade. Easy A, take this class!
There is no better professor than Mr. Johnson. He's clear, helpful, gives very interesting lectures, and his enthusiasm for the subject seeps into you whether you like it or not. Straightforward class, no surprises. He puts an outline on the board for each unit and adds to it: WRITE THIS DOWN! It will make structuring your essay much easier.
he was a great teacher he always is very helpful and funny
He is an awesome history prof.! He has such a passion for for the subject. Occasionally he brings his guitar to sing. Hilarious guy! Gives you exactly what is on the tests (3 of them) 2 weeks prior to study. All h.w. (5 simple pieces) is given in the beginning of course and can be turned in whenever. Super laidback. I HIGHLY recommend him!
He's the best professor i have ever had! Got an A in his history 102 class, and now coming back for his 101 class. He makes the class interesting, is extremely helpful, always gets back to you on e-mail and is amusing!Great, kind prof. You won't regret taking his class.
Chris Johnson is an amazing professor! He is so enthusiastic about history and makes it interesting! He is by far one of the best teachers I have ever had! Take him if you can!!
The best history teacher I've had. Really does love history and cracking jokes. Take good notes and you should get an A.
Professor Johnson makes you very interested in the subject and you can tell he is very passionate about history. He's funny too, has his little jokes. Teaches from memory, no power points. Three test during the semester, no multiple choice. Wants to make sure you actually know the material. A few assignments throughout the semester, easy though.
This class was alright. I barely passed it. If you're looking to get a high grade, make sure you remember a lot from taking notes. It's not a multiple choice test, it's based on terms and essays. In the other hand, there are barely any assignments such as a couple worksheets, and two essays. Make sure to study.
Attendance is mandatory as all of his tests are basically all of the lectures he does in class. Tests are essay and Identifications. Took him for both 101 and 102 and is probably the best teacher I've had at Palomar.
He is extremely easy, minimal homework, like 4 test total, and one project. If you ever miss a test he will make a make up date, no questions asked. He really does try to make the class fun with personal stories and jokes. Because he is 100% lecture, he is a great transition from high school (being all powerpoint) to college.
Awesome teacher, very knowledgeable, and very helpful. easy in hw, and as long as you pay attention, take notes, and show up to class, there should not be a reason as to why you wouldn't get an A. He makes the class very entertaining and easy to comprehend. You can truly learn History with him.
One of the best professors I've had. Funny, knowledgeable, realistic. Highly recommend
Truly learn history. Great teacher.
This teacher was hilarious first of all. Even though you have the book, you'll gain more information with his lectures. He's a fair grader, easy going and helpful. Don't understand how people can actually have problems in his class. Straight forward and don't skip class.
He was a cool teacher and very funny. when you take his test be sure to add dates. I didn't and it took me from a B to a C. Tests are very hard.
would take again :)
Prof. Johnson was awesome! He is very helpful, so don't be shy when you have questions. His lectures are very important so if you are great at taking notes then you will be find on the tests. If you miss class make sure you have a way to get the notes because it may be on the test. Super awesome prof. took him twice and enjoyed his classes!!
Chris Johnson is my favorite history professor and I took him without looking at RMP boy did I get lucky. He make a subject that is usually boring and makes it interesting and most times fun. He'll even bring in his guitar and sing. He is awesome!
Show up, pay attention, and take good notes. You might even want to bring an audio recorder for his lectures - he doesn't use PowerPoint. Tests are essay-style with 5 identifications (ex: Ben Franklin) which requires historical context and significance and an essay questions. 3 exams (including the final). Use textbooks in library for assignments.
i took professor johnson for both history 108 and 121 and i couldn't have been more happy with my choice. He is extremely fair, and SO passionate about what he's speaking about. If you took good notes you will do well on the exams. Im certainly not an A student, but i got an A in his class. Love this guy, i HIGHLY recommend him!
Chris Johnson is by far the best teacher I have ever taken. I had him for History 101 and 102 and I enjoyed every minute of it. He made lectures enjoyable by laying material out as a long, relatable story. He also did everything in his power to make it interesting. I HIGHLY recommend him. He is super fair and kind of hot! You will do great!
Professor Johnson is a gem. I really liked his teaching style; he lectures heavily but also takes lots of questions to make sure everything is clear and encourages class discussion. the quizzes can be tough but if you study and take good notes you'll pass. Also, his project can be really diverse and fun. He lets you be creative!
Take good notes, especially when he says it may be an identification. I find that even if it isn't on the test, it does relate to an essay question. Hint: if he says he will email you notes on anything you didn't have a chance to cover, it will be on the test! Do all homework within the first month to save you from stress later on. Great class!
Great guy and loves teaching history. Really funny. Can get a bit side tracked but he does review the materials before the class.
I've always struggled with history classes in the past and I've always found history to put me to sleep. But Christ Johnson is different. He is hands down the best history teacher I've ever had. He wants to be considered as a storyteller and will sometimes bring his guitar in and play for the class. Lectures are heavy, taking good notes is key.
Johnson tells his lectures like he's telling you a hilarious, ridiculous story. Which is what history is sometimes. He plays guitar and sings songs sometimes. Lectures are fast paced, not a lot of discussion, but he keeps it interesting. Take good notes, maybe record the lecture. He grades hard but only, because he wants you to improve.
Very funny, easy class to take at 8 AM. Only 3 tests the whole semester and he does a prep before thats effective. Attendance isn't mandatory but necessary because theres no textbook and notes are not online.
He was very easy to talk to and very funny on the first day
His class is all lecture based so if you dont go you wont pass. If you do go, you will learn a lot. All of his test are essay questions, but if you listen, he gives you everything you need. This is how professors should be; if we had more like him the education system would be better off! If you really want to learn look no further.
Chris' class is great and he always has a way to make his lectures entertaining and engaging. Some of my favorite parts of the class were the times he brought in his guitar and played songs that directly relate to the events we discussed in class. All his tests are essays and are based on his lectures, so make sure to take good notes!
I enjoyed taking his class and having him as a professor. His lectures are straightforward and gives you every thing you need in order to pass his exams. I don't know how the class could be even more simplified. I'm hoping I could take him again for History 102.
I would def take him for history. Straight to the point and gives you everything you need to pass. Its easy if you do your work and attend class because the exams are based on what he says in lecture.
Your grade is pretty much your tests, a project, and a couple of assignments. The book is NOT needed. His tests are straight from his lectures so missing class isn't ideal. He is a very cool professor who is pretty funny.
Great History Professor. He is the guy to take for all your history courses. All I can say is, if you are an auditory learner then he is the Professor for you. Do the work and go to class. He's also very approachable.
Best professor hands down. Just show up to the lectures and you'll be good. There are a couple papers and exams before the final which are pretty easy because he tells you exactly what he expects. Every lecture is similar to the book but I highly suggest making friends and getting notes.
Christopher Johnson makes history fun, he provides really good lectures and is very approachable, and even brings in a guitar and sings songs! This class is extremely easy to get a B in, but you have to put in some work for an A. Attendance is NOT mandatory, but lectures are all that is on the tests. He is great, one of the best profs i've ever had
Super laidback professor. He even plays the guitar and sings in class. Tells you all the assignments that are due throughout the semester on the first day of class, I recommend you do them asap (they are easy) and then you're done with almost everything. Provides study guides for the exams which he doesn't grade hard. He's fun I highly recommend!
Missing class isnt the best idea being that canvas isnt used so often, and lectures are on PowerPoints. But the syllabus tells you whats due and when it is. Tests are easy, mostly key terms and one essay question. Very laid back professor who makes history fun to learn.
He was one of my favorite professors ever! He is such a grounded, sweet, funny, and approachable professor. He is very chatty and writes a lot on the board at the same time, but do not be afraid to ask questions. He is a must take!
I had Professor Johnson for Hist. 101 & 102 and he has been my favorite professor at Palomar. Personally, I love history so his lectures were entertaining, funny and my favorite part is that sometimes he would play his guitar and sing a song that related to the period we were learning about. There are three exams & very flexible with assignments!
A real wholesome guy. He's always so energetic while lecturing, and you can tell he truly does enjoy history and his job. Missing class can be difficult as all of his test information is solely based off of his lectures- which is him writing all over the board. Would definitely recommend taking his class!
My favorite professor this semester by far. I'm not fond of history, as this class was required for general ed. But he made it so much more than that. His lectures are the best I've ever seen. He's funny and no homework! All you need to worry about is the exams, a short project, and a short essay. I can't say I won't take another of his classes.
I LOVE HIM! His grading is clear. Gives the class schedule with all papers/projects that will be due on the first day and you have almost all semester to finish. His lectures are captivating and he obv loves to teach history. He tells you exactly what you need to study for for tests. I'll be taking him for every possible history from here on out.
This was a relatively easy class. Chris Johnson is a very chill prof, assigns little work and exams are easy if you prepare, although he does want to see very specific things in the exam essays. Great lectures, awesome guy. My only complaints are that he is a lazy grader and will give you a B++ before he gives you an A.
This class is a blast and not too hard if you can take effective notes and do what's needed to prepare for exams. He is everything you'd want in a history professor as he presents things in a logical way that's entertaining the whole semester through. I learned SO much during this semester and I'll try and take him whenever I can in the future.
Professor Johnson was really fun and gave great lectures. He was funny and kept you entertained and if you missed a class he was happy to send you the notes. Definitely my favorite professor I've had so far.
Its been over 20 years and I still think back fondly. He made history fun! Something that never happened for me before. I became a teacher myself and have a family now. Whenever the conversation comes up, about influential teachers... I always think of Mr. Johnson.
Inspiring professor because he is passionate about history, & makes the subject interesting to pay attention to. Brings his guitar to class, & sings sometimes. No powerpoints, & sloppy handwriting are my only complaints. Otherwise, easy class. Chill, humorous, & inspiring professor.
One of the best professors I've had so far ! He reminds me a lot of my junior year history teacher. Very passionate about the subject he is teaching and will throw in a joke or two to try and make the class entertaining. Love when he brings in his guitar to sing songs associated with what we're learning. Amazing man, would definitely take him again
He is such a nice guy which is why I gave him three stars. That being said, he is so disorganized that his lectures were painful to bear through. His handwriting is impossible to read and he gets off topic every 10 seconds. I had to teach myself all the material.
Professor Johnson is an AMAZING teacher!!! He lectures in a way that is easy to understand, visualize, and learn information. He sings for his class, has a sense of humor, and he opens the windows in his classrooms (Ive had professors who close them). If you are on the fence, just take him!! You will enjoy the experience.
Really cool dude but all semester was lecture. Every single day he just told the material in a story. 2 midterms, 1 response paper, 1 project, & a final. Willing to help if you put the effort in & show up to class
His class was so hard to get through because it was so lecture heavy and I learned nothing from him. People only give him good reviews because he doesnt assign homework
I have always gotten As in my classes besides this one. He grades crazily and will give you an 89.9999999% before he gives you an A. He expects you to put the date a person took their first baby steps and their blood type on tests in order to give you an A. Dont take him
Prof Johnson is the best teacher I've ever had! His lectures are interesting, and he's hilarious. 3 exams that area all structured the same way - 1 essay, 5 identifications. If you take good notes/record lectures you will be good as gold. People are complaining that he's disorganized, but you just need to pay attention in class.
Mr. Johnson was probably one of the few people in my life to make history interesting. He was able to make it more than just facts and figures, but about the lives of the people who lived it. You will have to study and know facts and figures too, but the information he taught me has stayed with me.
Professor Johnson is one of the best history teachers I've had. His enthusiasm for history makes the information easier to understand, especially since he tells it like a story. The class itself wasn't hard, but wasn't easy either. The lectures are long, but if have permission to, audio record the lectures!
Professor Johnson is easily the best instructor I have ever had and probably ever will have. I am extremely lucky to have had the opportunity to take his class his last semester teaching.
He taught all of his lectures as if they were stories. Class time would fly by and made memorizing material for the test very easy.
