Lectures are really just optional if you actually understand what you're doing on the labs. However the computers at Seneca are terrible with VMWare through myapps. Prepare to have your VM frozen during lab class or even the practical tests and potentially lose everything. Chris will give you ZERO sympathy if your VM freezes which isn't fair.
An authoritarian teacher (not allowed to ask your friend a question during lectures, no talk, he'll always remind students on how they will be kicked out of school if they'll get catch with cheating, he keeps monitor students from main admin computer), he doesn't post grades, and quizzes are poorly written. thanks to Prof. Saul who designed course.
Chist Johnson is the best ULI professor. He gives good feedback and helps students. He respects students.
Textbook is optional. Attendance is optional. His lecture is good. He is inspirational and caring professor. He deserves 5 out of 5.
He gives you extra credits and he has clear criteria of quiz. His ULI lecture is really helpful and he gives worksheet for number conversions. Scripts for bash Linux scripting. He tries to help students a lot, using: Question, feedback and mails. He is the greatest Professor in Seneca.
His lecture deserves A+.
His lecture is optional but great to attend. The textbook is optional. He gives good feedback and Christ Johnson is one of the best professor in Seneca.
I never needed to write a review about a prof, but I have to for this guy. I had him for DCN286 and he was absolutely brutal! His method for subnetting is ok but other than that, horrible. Never corrects labs or quizzes, did not answer my emails, he's rude to students, reminds you that if you cheat you'll get kicked out and tests/finals are insane.
Professor is amazing. Excellent material explanation, quickly answers my e-mails, clearly explains if something hard to understand. You can skip lecture, but do not skip quizzes, and do not be late when is quiz/midterm/exam. For be successful on this course you need work a lot. Weekly slides is not enough. You need to use everything that professo
Nice dude but NDD is poorly designed, take it at night school. It's barely a "course" cos you're mostly just assessed but not taught, only given hints. Also not the best communicator. He aight for OPS235.
People should know their stuff by the 4th semester, don't expect freebies. NDD430 is a cumulative course. Chris is very knowledgeable and professional. He'll help you if you ask but you need to show you've tried and are prepared to diagnose the problem with him. Be prepared to get embarrassed if you copied your work from some else. Great professor!
I had an issue with a checkpoint and he basically blamed me for making a mistake, he is rude when we are doing our demos and he legit calls you out in front of everyone, takes forever to mark tests and tells you to google answers wont help you AT ALL! Dont take chris for ndd, definitely take Scott
Professor not using all class time to teach. Money I paid for tuition was wasted. I did not learn from him. He just give you bunch of labs, just waiting for you to do it by yourself. If you ask him, He will give impressions that he is not approachable for help.
don't take this professor, he is not cooperative at all. Can be rude at times. Doesn't not help for labs and explanations are unclear
Never answered my emails, never communicated, straight up refused to help me during class and was very rude about it. I won't call this person a professor just because his title suggests so.
I asked a simple question and was shut down with aggressive rejections and getting blamed for asking the questions. Out of nowhere. Is this what teaching is all about these days? Evade responsibilities and dump your personal problems to students?
I didn't see any professor like him! When you ask him for help, he is telling you to do it on your own! It's your problem, and you have troubleshot your work, not me! He is so rude, and Colleges should see the reviews and don't give him a chance to teach students! He doesn't know how to teach! He doesn't know what to teach.
I am in my final semester and I can say he is the worst professor I have ever had. He doesn't teach or explain. He gets upset when asked for troubleshooting help. He sees everyone as someone that plagiarizes and he makes poor judgment cos of his bias mind. Get ready to use google for troubleshooting cos he will never help you.
This is a warning for anyone taking his class, if there are other professor teaching do not take Chris, you will regret it. Unless you are ready to do and research everything online because he will not help you and if he does he will turn it into a question. I had online with him which was worse as the most teaching he did was probably 3-4 times
Sometimes unprepared and has to create files during lectures. Slow at e-mail response and quiz/exam marking. Reads through slides and demonstrates sufficiently so I'll give him that, but lectures are useless for the exams and quizzes, they only provide a basic grasp of the concepts. Tutorials and assignments teach you 10x more on this course.
Chris was horrible at the beginning of the semester, but became more helpful over time (hence the two stars). The course is horrible and no material is actually being taught. Laughing because the one good comment looks like it was written by him :)
Gives no feedback. Does not want to be helpful. Wants nothing to do with your success.
I don't know why I paid him. A better way of spending money is by flushing it down the toilet. You will have everything by yourself. He is there as a Flag pole.
I wasted my semester taking NDD430 with him.End of Semester culminated discouragement.Never received any help or assistance.Received direct and rude replies when help was needed.Student were left to be on their own - and the course was highly unstructured and was scattered all over the place. Run for your life.
Horrible. He accused everyone in the class of cheating. Never helped or provide hints. There is no lecture.. He just sits there and wait for you to do the labs.. Waste of your money. Waste of your time. Biased professor.
His marking style is either you get it wrong or right. A little mistake can cause you alot of points.. He never wants to help anyone. He just sits there because he expects people to know their stuff in the 4th semester. The worst professor.. don't waste your money on him.. Take NDD430 part time. A better professor is teaching that course.
A bad professor in general.. I took him for ndd430 last year.. he never helped a single student. He never even lectured in class. It's all self learn.. there is nothing that he can teach you. You are all on your own for this class.
I never seen a professor like him! Whenever, you ask for help he always say "It's your own problem, and you have troubleshot your work, not me!" He is just rude to the students and dont want to give the students a chance to succeed. He cant teach because he just doesnt know how to teach..
Just don't take him for NDD430.. Go Register for part time for NDD430. It's alot more easier.. Stay away from him! He doesn't care if you succeed or fail.
No lectures, just labs, no guidance, no help, no troubleshooting He doesn't do any of those. It's not his problem if the class fails the course.
The only good comment was probably by him.. Every student who took him for NDD430 say he is horrible. He doesn't want to do anything related to your success. Take NDD430 during part time. It's barely even a course.. 5 labs, 5 checkpoints.
Chris was horrible at the beginning of the semester. He continues to be horrible through out the semester. Never helps with anything! Honestly why he is even a professor..
Don't take him for NDD430 unless you are ready to do everything by yourself. This includes troubleshooting your labs. He won't teach or do any lectures. He doesn't help with labs either
This professor just sits there like a wall or a fly on the wall watching you to do your labs.. no feedback He never helps with the labs. He is just there to mark the labs.. don't take him. Avoid him at all cost.
This professor sticks by the rules. And yet he refuses to help the students or guide them to success. I don't understand why he is a professor if he doesn't want to do anything with your success.
Quite a chill guy in person but as a professor, he isn't even a professor. He is more of a wall that sits in front of the student.
NDD430 was never a course to begin with.. but this professor had go and make the course harder. If the professor would offer abit of tips and tricks the course would be alot easier. you cant expect any help from this professor. You are on your own when taking ndd430.
Dont take him. Avoid him at all cost if you want to pass the course.
Hard marker. Will not help at all. Chris made the course alot harder and less enjoyable. Bad attitude. Always assuming everyone is trying to cheat.
I truly believe this guy does not care about seeing students do good. He has a habit of sending emails about quizzes the night before we take them, and most of the content he gives us is barely on quizzes/midterms. he sent an email saying he will be gone from his home office so he cannot respond to any student emails during all of the reading week
Halfway through the course, I still haven't received any tests back. Midterms are very soon, and I have no feedback.
People should know their stuff by the 4th semester, don't expect freebies. NDD430 is a cumulative course. Chris is very knowledgeable and professional. He will not help you if you ask. Be prepared to do your own troubleshooting.
I truly believe this professor doesnt care about his students. Atleast his explanations are clear but that's the only good thing about him.
don't take this teacher he just wants to fail. no help at all !!!!!
UPDATE: November 11 is the last date to drop a course for a DNC grade.... Chris only started marking everything 5 days before this date so people can drop out. BEWARE he likes to put a twist on all quiz/midterms so please do not take him as your prof for any class. The history of all these reviews should represent what kind of person this guy is.
Honesty the school should see these reviews. At this point the school is just making money off the failing students. A bad professor in any course Avoid this professor if you value your money.
Do not take this professor especially if you want to pass the course
Makes the quizzes unnecessarily hard. Said the midterm was on one date, then changed it to another date with little notice.
He has a bad attitude. And there is no feedback before the midterms. Not to mention that he disappears during study week. He is just a bad professor. Please avoid him at all cost even if it means taking the course part time.
Dont take this professor. He refuses to teach anything in NDD430. Apply for a part-time for NDD430. The course only requires 7 students to begin the class. Professors in NDD430 (part time) are eager to assist and teach the course.
The only positive aspect of this professor is that he speaks clearly. Avoid him at all costs, even if it means taking the course with a different college or switching to the new course curriculum or apply for part time.
Following the midterms, this professor accused the entire class of cheating. On the quiz, he gave everyone a zero. However, not everyone was reported to the committee. That is the only positive aspect. When a student approached him for assistance with an assignment. He wasn't much help.
This professor is upfront with you about not assisting you with any of the assignments.
If you have this prof for ULI I highly recommend trying to get another prof if you want to pass. Tests/exams are horribly put together and reflect very little on the in class material or what you will study, making it very unlikely your answer is the right command. Professor never answers emails promptly, by the time he does answer it's redundant.
DON'T TAKE HIS COURSE. Quiz are harder, no consideration, it's impossible to pass.
You will have to work extra hard if you choose this professor.. His test are quite hard. As they require an actual understanding of the commands.
Quizzes were nothing like the material he taught in class
This professor doesn't teach anything in class. It's a waste of time taking this professor class in person.
The professor Chris Johnson was very hard to deal with, also he doesn't give good grades along with this his tests are very tough and 90% of my class in failing in his course , he doesn't understand any situations of students even they have valid problems with valid proofs . I don't suggest anyone of you to take this professor if you want to learn
My review may be a bit bias as I got passing marks. If you want to pass a subject easy, then do not take his subjects. If you can exert enough effort, you can easily pass his course. I may probably not take his courses in the future if given a chance though.
Don't take professor for NDD430.. He is very tough on the packet tracer and assignments.. There is a part time professor teaching this course for the summer 2023. NDD430 is going to be offered for the last time this summer. If you want to pass NDD430. Take the course Part time.
He is tough, but he is fair. I learned a lot because of this. Do not take him if you want an empty grade or just to pass. That is why in every company there is one person doing all the work and 10 beside him staring into a void. If you got an F, blame yourself. Chris replied to emails even at night. His exams were ok, and the lectures were clear.
Rating is true not sure how he got up in rating the last time I checked. He's super hard for no reason in a beginner linux course. I would highly not recommend this professor. You will need to spend way more time needed on this course if you take him
He is a very nice professor, easy to pass the course just you need to give some efforts apart from this he is very nice human as he help the students and also understand the situation of students, at the last i can say that HE IS VERY NICE HE WILL GIVE YOU GRADES BUT YOU NEED TO SHOW HIM SOME EFFORTS FROM YOUR SIDE.
Too much hard grader. 15 off my frnd repeat the course because off him
Even though I got an A, I wouldn't recommend this guy. He's a "hope killer", always acting like the terminator. He makes a lot of mistakes with his commands but expects your syntax to be 100% during quizzes. If I were in Saso's class, I would have had an A+. If you end up with him, YOU WILL FAIL or be FRUSTRATED! If only I could grade him 0.
Even though I got an A, I wouldn't recommend this guy. He's a "hope finisher", always acting like the terminator. He makes a lot of mistakes with his commands but expects your syntax to be 100% during quizzes. If I were in Saso's class, I would have had an A+. If you end up with him, YOU WILL FAIL or be FRUSTRATED! If only I could grade him 0.
requires memorization that no other ULI101 professors require. it makes no sense for a linux since in the real world you can google everything/do not need to memorize.. meet me in the parking lot
Chris is amazing. Even though his quizzes are closed book, the commands aren't hard to memorize at all. Simply practice more and commands will come naturally, and be sure to take your own notes. He is a GREAT professor, and funny in lectures. You came to college to learn not to get easy professors.
You will hard time if you take his class(quiz is unnecessarily difficult). and he has bad attitude towards students in his class. This kind of person shouldn't be a teacher. Only good thing about him is that he is fair.
Stay away!!!!!!!!!!!!! He is awful. Prepare to put in countless amounts of hours. Makes linux understandable but for a first year course, it should not be this hard!!!!!!!!! I managed to get a good grade. BE AWARE
I failed the course because of him. I had to retake the course with another professor. AVOID HIM AT ALL COST.
Well I pass the course second time.the lectures is totally different from test and quiz .90% failed in the course .he should learn atleast some teaching skills .if u will take his class u will definitely fail.stay away from his class
He's just another cocky "professor" who is there to punish students for trivial mistakes they make instead of teaching them. You can tell that he has absolute no passion for teaching. I passed the course with A (lost points for some weird things) but I've had the worst time of my life with this "professor". I would NOT recommend him.
Buttoned up.
He knows his stuff.
He is too strict just takes out people for nothing
i'm glad he's not a cop
His lectures fell endless and his quzzes are way more complicated than the other proffesors that teach the same class
very bad awful
Quizzes r on pc and open book exam from lab notes. Lectures are understandable but very strict on quizzes and exams. Not too concerned with attendance. Is approachable but sometimes hard to get his point.
very bad proff
