Prof. Kapulkin is the most genuine, funniest and intelligent professor one could ever have. He made a generally hated subject, calculus, extremely entertaining, engaging and amazing. He's so good that people from other classes often skip their own classes just to come to his. I would highly recommend taking ANY class with him. You won't regret it!
This guys is literally the best Calc prof at western. I recommend taking his class if you're taking first year calculus! His quizzes are an easy way to get 100% on the 10% of your mark devoted to in class quizzes. Funny, always makes sexual jokes, always wants people to ask questions, and doesn't rush through material. A++++++, literally love him.
He does what he's suppose to do. His lectures are mostly fun and cleareasy to understand.
It can be a bit hard to do that well at the start if you don't have a super strong math background since he goes a bit fast, but eventually you'll get used to it. Makes immature jokes if you're into that kind of thing.
He made calc fun.. if that's not a superpower than idk what is
Amazing, straightforward prof who really knows his material. He genuinely cares about students and makes the effort to get to know them on a more personal level. The course content may be dry but he is HILARIOUS. Quizzes every Monday (which are helpful for keeping up with work) and he prepares you very well for exams. Overall, an awesome prof :)
Love Kapulkin! Great prof, though I probably never needed to come to class cuz the textbook is great, but I went anyways cuz he's a legend and teaches extremely well! He's a big lewandowski fan as well
Really cool guy
The best prof I could have ever asked for! I genuinely enjoyed going to class because of him.
i love him
I HATED Calc before Kapulkin. He is honestly the love of my life. He's funny, and intelligent, and witty, and really really clear on course content. He's definitely the best intructor I've EVER had in my 15 years of education. NOT taking his class would be idiocy. BEST PROF AT UWO 3 :)
He's hilarious, and the best Calc professor in UWO.
He is the best professor by far in all of the calculus kingdom. Hes young, educated and understands the needs of the student. He doesn't give you a bunch of crap that you won't use, his lessons are clear, to the point; pay attention and you will be successful guaranteed. Funniest person ever, if you do well on your exam you can get the "LOL" ! :D
I literally love this guy! He is so funny and unlike other professors he likes getting to know his students on a personal level. He will remember random facts about you! Honestly a great guy! This is his first year teaching at UWO and he teaches you everything you need and I never needed to use my textbook. I have him next semester & cannot wait!
Best first year calc prof no doubt! Just finished my 1st semester and calc1000 was my favourite class to go to. Kapulkin is clear in his lectures, strongly encourages participation and will make the entire lecture hall laugh at least once in his 50 minutes. Always willing to help after class, and got to know his students on a personal level.
Great Guy
WASN'T EVEN IN HIS CLASS BUT WENT TO HIS LECTURES ANYWAYS. THE MOST AMAZING CALC PROF IVE EVER HAD.
Kinda shy. Can blend in a conversation with a bunch of students. Very friendly. Loves to tease students. Prepares you very well for quizzes and exams. Loves math. A lot of jokes. If you do homework from the textbook you'd get a hundred in the course but you can easily get above an 80 if you just show up to class.
Great prof, great guy. He made a class of 250 feel smaller than it was, and constantly said hilarious things. Definitely the funniest teacher I've ever had. Little bit of an accent, but after a little bit it is barely there. Helps you succeed and I'm sure he probably had the highest class average for Calc 1000.
I LOVE DR. KAPULKIN! He was my favourite prof this semester. He is absolutely hilarious, and you won't regret being in his lecture. He loves to tease students, and you're guaranteed to laugh at least once during each lecture. Even though I'm not a morning person, and his 1301 lecture is at 8:30AM, I'm strongly considering taking his section.
Love him!
Listen in class, don't talk.. and your set!
really funny guy and his lectures are pretty straight forward
Great prof.. Really enjoyed calc
Honestly, he's one of the best professors ever. His lectures are extremely clear and straight forward. He has weekly quizzes to help you keep up with the course material and not fall behind. He is a person that loves to help students succeed and offers weekly office hours. Going to his class can help you on exams, as well as giving you a good laugh
I have to say he is one of the best Professors I've had. He has no problem with helping out students if they have problems and he is easily approachable. He really cares about how students do. His class is hilarious but he is also great at teaching. I can't say I've even had a high school teacher as good as him.
Great prof, would definitely reccomend for calc 1000
Kapulkin is an all around great prof. I didn't take any math courses in grade 12 so I was worried that Calc1000 would be extremely difficult, but Kapulkin's teaching style and pace made it easy to follow along. He is a funny guy who really wants the best for his students. Be respectful, don't talk in lectures, and you'll be solid for calc1000.
His jokes helped me enjoy the class and actually want to work hard for the course. This was the first time i enjoyed Calc and it is my highest math mark since gr 9.
He's an incredible prof that is really funny and helpful. You have to take his class. He also had the highest midterm average by a lot!
definitely would take again
He is a really helpful teacher and his weekly quiz actually works! Midterm is a joke but final is tricky because it is designed to bring down mark.
I never thought I was the best student at math; however, Kapulkin provides students with invaluable old exam questions, which prepares you very well for the midterm, and final exams. If you do all the homework, you will be rewarded.
Once you get used to his accent, an amazing and entertaining class. Don't talk too loud or he'll rip you apart. Easy to understand, shows you all the tricks you need in Calculus.
Made me love calculus. Worth getting up for his 8:30 1300 class.
I thought i would hate calculus but Dr Kapulkin made it enjoyable. His weekly quizzes force you to keep up with the material and his lectures are clear and funny. Highly recommend him!
Easily the best calc prof at Western! He has weekly problem sets, quizzes, and makes the textbook much more clear. He's also hilarious & VERY attractive! Be sure to take advantage of his office hours.
Hes great
Although Calc 1301 was probably the toughest course I took in first year I am so happy I had Kapulkin as my prof. Very clear lectures and he's entertaining too, which helps to get you to go to class. Also very transparent about what material you're expected to know, by far the best first year Calc prof at Western!
Took him cause he was great with calc1000. His problem sets are all encompassing if you need a hundred in the course. He makes silly jokes and isn't afraid to embarrass himself. Likes cow jokes for some inexplicable reason. If you're too sensitive you might take offence at some of his jokes. He loves math.
He is AMAZING. I'm not a morning person and an 8:30 class on Fridays and 3 other days a week was a huge pain. But he was WORTH it. The weekly quizzes and problem sets have questions harder than textbook: exam caliber. And he walks you through the solutions! So when it comes to exams, even if you don't do homework, you're still very well prepared!
His lectures are really thought out, he explains the content clearly and he provides multiple ways to ask questions in order to get a better understanding of the concepts. A bunch of office hours after lectures ended which was a pleasant surprise also. Overall, made me really enjoy calc, something that I wouldn't have said 4 months ago
So funny
If you're taking calc, take his class or don't take the course at all. Most amazing prof I've had so far. Really cares about his students and is a great teacher.
Amazing prof! Really makes sure you understand the concepts and is always there for help. Has office hours often but will meet with you personally to explain things better if you are struggling
Funniest prof, also very clear and fair, would definitely recommend fixing your schedule so that you have him for calc
At first I was worried because professor K is new to teaching. However I have to admit he turned out to be THE best prof I had in first year. Who knew I would actually enjoy going to a calculus lecture. Not only does he explain the material very well and gives time for questions, but he always pops jokes here and there to keep everyone awake.
Really prepares you well for the exams!
Awesome prof. Every first year calculus student wanted into his lectures, he explains things the best and provides helpful information. Gives you real problems that will show up on exams.
Overall this is just a really hard class with lots of challenging questions. Kapulkin is a real beauty though and he forces class participation. Take advantage of his willingness to answer questions in class and yes, defiantly take his section. He is so funny.
BEST PROF BY FAR IN FIRST YEAR MED SCI
He is very clear, gives you amazing problem sets for quizzes and exams, and his sense of humour made 8:30 am classes enjoyable. Be respectful, do not talk in class and you'll be golden.
Go to class, pay attention, do problems, get As.
Skipped all my classes to attend his. By far the best calc prof at western and arguably in Canada
Kapulkin is by far the best first year calc prof at Western. I had him for both Calc 1000 and 1301. He's hilarious and always joking around, but he knows his stuff and he is always willing to explain concepts and encourages asking questions in class. He also has tons of office hours; he wants to make sure everyone understands what he's teaching.
LOL.. where do I begin? Had him for calc 10001301, simply the best professor in all of Western.. He is the Beethoven of mathematicians at western and he composes his lectures so beautifully and masterfully. Never a boring class, he is like a chef who has a different yet delicious spice each and every day. Amazing teacher, and a wonderful person.
He's an amazing prof!!! I am not personally strong at mathcalc naturally, but can do amazing with the right guidance, and that's where Kapulkin comes in. He's very engaging in every class and actually helps your understand what the hell calculus really is! If you're taking any kinda of calcmath course, go to Kapulkin's lectures!
Great professor! His lecture is very clear!
Amazing professor. Doctor Kapulkin always comes prepared with amazing lectures and is extremely likable and funny. He's always kind, supportive and there for extra help. He's the most genuine academic I have ever met and the fact that he has accumulated more than 55 excellent ratings in the span of 8 months is truly a testament to his sheer talent.
Amazing prof. If you can switch into his class, do it by all means !!! YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT
The proffesor was really helpful! If you ever have questions he is more than happy to answer them during office hours.
Chris is a very inspirational teacher with great clarity and almost theatrical teaching skills. He keeps the class alive with his wit and spontaneity. His extraordinary clarity in the concepts makes us want to be like him in the subject mastery.
The best calc prof at Western. If you're debating between him and Turnbull, pick Kapulkin. He gives very useful problem sets so that you don't have to do textbook problems and he is very caring and helpful. 10/10 experience.
He is an amazing professor - the only first year prof who actually got to know who I was. He has millions of office hours because he wants everyone to understand the material (he had office hours everyday the week leading up to the final). He is incredibly personable. Don't talk in class and attend all the lectures.
If you're scared of everyone's opinion on this course, take this prof. This isnt an easy course but it was a breeze for me because I worked hard. Study and you'll ace all his quizzes. Teaches what matters and focuses on exam material. Greatest prof!
Kapulkin is such an amazing prof. Its so clear how much he really cares about the success of his students. He always tries to give back marks that you lots on simple math mistakes. Make sure to go to office hours as they are super helpful! He is such a nice and funny guy! 10/10 would recommend
Thoroughly enjoyed the course with him. Despite timing being 7-9pm, he always kept the classes enjoyable and taught you everything you need to know to do well on quizzes and exams. He is very approachable and loves to crack jokes. Just make sure to show up to his classes since he doesn't post much online at all.
Great prof, hard material but he teaches it well.
Understands the specific material that is difficult to understand and tries to simplify it as much as possible Office hours super helpful
He's an amazing proffessor. He has many office hours and his quizzes aren't completely impossible. He's humor is funny for the first few classes and then you get sick of the "she said" jokes. But overall, for the course, he's a good prof!
Professor Kapulkin is such an amazing professor. He genuinely cares about his students, keeps lectures interesting and concise and is also readily available to help students all the time at his office hours. He prepares you extremely well for the midterm and final an. I would recommend Kapulkin over any other math professor, especially turnbull
Best professor at Western. He is the funniest, most outgoing and enthusiastic prof I've ever had and he made this course make so much sense. I DID BETTER IN 1301 THAN IN CALC 1000!! if you can take his class, whether at 8am or 9pm, DO IT. YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT! Chose him over Turnbull. He's so helpful and answers all questions thoroughly!
I LOVE HIM OMG
Kapulkin is the saviour we all need. Unlike Trump, who builds walls of ignorance, Kapulkin breaks down those walls and opens your door to the true enlightenment of calculus and all that is math. He is one of the few first year profs that attempts to connect with his students and helps them with their progress. Use all his resources, and it's an A.
looks like a comic nerd but sounds like a mafia boss
Great prof, wants to see people succeed if they're putting the effort into their studies. Lectured very well and was clear on content. Made me laugh at least once every lecture.
Amazing prof. Don't need to use the tb at all, just his resources. He boosted me from an 88 to a 90, he is one of the nicest professors I have ever had.
Best prof Ive ever had.
Chris is probably one of the best profs I've had at Western. His entertaining, no-BS approach to the course meant that I'd rarely use the significantly more difficult to understand textbook, and his quizzes and tests were often less difficult than they realistically should have been. Overall, 10/10, and I'd definitely take his courses again.
Chris takes a course with content that is hard and dry and adds his own personality to lectures which makes them worth going to. I regret missing as many lectures as I did. Chris cares about the success of his students, If you put in the effort he will try his best to help you succeed.
Chris is a realllllly good prof. He is VERY good at explaining concepts clearly and he also makes his lectures entertaining with some good jokes. I would 100% recommend taking any course with him! :)
He is definitely one of my favorite professors! He's so amazing! He's wonderfully good at teaching and he really cares about students. He is a very fun and knowledgeable professor! I feel honored to be his student. He also grades student work promptly. He has motivated me to increase my knowledge and competence in Math. I highly recommend him!
I don't usually go to lectures, except for Chris's. His lectures are like mini stand up shows, and is so entertaining you wouldn't want to miss it. I don't really absorb much from the lectures and have to go home and read, that's the way for me in any course, but Chris's lectures are actually enjoyable.
Funny guy, strict on his policies of no photography and no talking, quizzes were fair but time was very limited- requires an extra level of familiarity with the material to answer the questions quick enough. Midterms were just 3 quizzes. He writes very quick, and pictures are not allowed, I would not recommend him to slow writers/ visually impaired
