He discriminates against females! He doesn't care about his students, he grades unfairly. He never responded to my grade appeal.
If you want to learn things you can actually USE, then this is the class for you!

Had the class during the summer (6 week). The class was interesting and fairly easy, even in six weeks. Must do your homework and actually think about it.
GREAT TEACHER...REALLY EASY!! MAKES PHILOSOPHY VERY INTERESTING...TOOK HIM FOR SUMMER FOR 4WEEKS AND I HIGHLY RECOMMEND HIM!!!!!
One of my fav. professors so far, teaches about stuff that is actually going on in the world.

loved him and his class, must be openminded! he teaches a whole new way of thinking! great teacher and subject but i took his 8 week class and it was ALOT of work to be handed in tooo fast! take him over a whole semester.
Love this professor!!! I've taken a few classes with him and wish I could take more. He is very interested in the student and their understanding of the concepts, which is great since phi is not a cake walk.
Did anyone mention how extremly HOT he is? He is so cool. I learned a lot and loved it.
He is hot and funny. I also learned a lot. It was one of my favorite classes. He teached Phil a whole new way. You should take his class and participate.
teacher talks too much, doesn't allow a lot of class participation
he is a good teacher his class is pretty cool. i just hate the food for thought is like writting a 3 page essay every week
His lectures can be a bit confusing sometimes and he's definitely caught up in his own ideas, but his class is still very interesting and worthwhile. Be prepared to write alot.
I took him for Phil 101, if you take his class and youre a girl, prepare to get offended sometimes. At the end of the semester, it was hard to get any of the girls to talk in the class because when you talked he made you feel like you were always wrong and then he always talks about inequality and it actually makes you uncomfortable
there was homework everyday, a midterm paper and a final paper, no tests. very biased and you have to buy his book. would not accept and could not understand any other viewpoint but his own.
Excellent Professor! There is a lot of writing because it's Critical Thinking. If you have the maturity and open mindedness to see that Prof Kuchuris is very kind and very fair you'll love his class. This class is like getting $100,000.00 worth of therapy for $169.00. You'll get out of it what you put into it- being authentic and honest is a plus!
the grades are so unclear. we did not know anything about the final until a week before the class finished. this class is like taking english 101 four times because of all the writting.
Excellent, excellent class. If you're not optimistic, open minded, or fearless about yourself, then this class is NOT for you. This is a great class to take if you're in a point in your life where you need some uplifting. There is a lot of writing to do, however, this is one of the very few classes that will in no doubt benefit your education
he was pretty funny. we always went off topic though. umm, add weekly assignment and 3 major papers. no tests and no certain schedule. got to sit anywhere you wanted !!!
This is easily the coolest instructor at CCSN. Critical thinking and reasoning sounds like a lame class for the average lazy person, but this class allows your to engage in great conversations. I actually looked forward to the drive across town. Homework was moderate but easy to crank out and requires almost no research.
Interesting class, nice guy, very unclear about grading standards. No set grading system, your grade is left up to his whim with no documentation to show why you earned it. Weekly writing assignment based on readings
I am a woman & I didn't see/feel any bias. Concepts are taught more than one way, so you should have no reason not to get it. Teacher offers help. He's GREAT! Keep an open mind & don't be sensitive. Life changing class, but hard if you aren't willing to explore yourself. Tons of writing. Book was a little hard to read due to grammer.
He is a wonderful Professor. Discussion in the class is very active and fun. You will gain something how to think your thought and life. It is not just academic class, but also guide you in life goal. I am a international student, so writing assignments were quit hard but it was manageable. Take this class! Strongly recommend!
This professor is awesome! You learn so much about yourself and society. It makes you question so much afterwards. Overall, this class is not easy. You will need to come to class to get an A and need to put forth 100% of your effort. But what you get in return is so worth the work! I would not mind taking this class again just to continue learning!
Best class I have ever taken. Period. One of the very best teachers I have ever had.
Amazing teacher. I really loved this guy because he teaches in such an unorthodox way. At least in a way I am not used to. I thought class discussions were great, I learned so much about myself and what I thought about the world. He is a great teacher, take him if you get the chance. Just do your homework and participate, you'll be fine :)
This was my second semester in CCSN, and i think he was very nosey guy who wanted to knows every bodies personal lives, with his stupid Cave story,
Its not a bad class. ITs interesting. I hate the dumb food for thoughts which is usually about 5 long questions. Gotta do that usually once a week but its acutally not that hard. the book is rather confusing.
The best teacher and class I ever had, and probably will never have like that again...
This guy was a complete idiot. This guy contradicted himself more times than I could count. He wants you to have your own opinions but when it comes to tests you have to choose his answers. I hated the class and he was even worse. DON'T TAKE HIM! Especially if you actually want to learn something useful.
He writes his own book and it's completely useless. You can't even sell it back because they don't want it. Not only that his book is just a bunch of mumbo jumbo that is taken from other really smart philosophers that he decided to condense. Well he didn't do a very good job with that.
Ignore the chimps on here, Kuchuris is great. If you listen to him and take notes you'll ace the tests. He let us use our book and notes on the test, if you fail it you fail at life.
Loved his class, truly developed me into a more critical thinker!
His class was very interesting and fun. Attendance is manditory and you have to participate in class discussions to receive anything higher than a B. He doesn't give any tests or quizzes, except for the mid-term and final.
GREAT teacher. If you care to dig deeper into why you are who you are and what conditioned you to be this way then no other teacher could do it better. He not only opens your eyes to the world around you, but helps you to interpret it yourself. Unlike most teachers they only give you their opinion he encourages u 2 think
Never take a teacher that writes his own book. That's all I have to say. Makes you write a ridiculous paper and watch Opera.
Honestly, this class seemed like common sense to me. Maybe it was just me but it seemed like he was talking about things that I already knew. It was an okay class though. Just talk and you'll be fine. Even if it's the stupidest thing... say it!
This prof is high on himself. He writes his own book filled with watered down philosophical concepts and rife with his personal opinion. You have to write a few pages for every class based on the text. He believes his conclusions are the only correct ones. If you play to his ego you'll do fine.
Very interesting class, and I enjoyed the way he presented things. Plus, he is hilarious, which helps in the learning process. Only bad thing is he will not accept late work for any reason- I was in the hospital and that still wasn't good enough for him. Overall great professor, though.
Great teacher. Very engaging, forces you to explore the ideas of others. Class reaquires lots of participation to help your grade. Only a midterm and a final but lots of writing assignments each week. Just do the reflective writing and take notes since he lets you use them on the tests and you'll do fine.
Super professor my first time back in school in 20 yrs he wrote the book but work is simple the in class discussions remind me of debate in high school very open not bias allow you to have your own opinion looks from every angle really stretches your thinking I highly recomend this class if you can get this professor.
He was a good teacher and although he stated once that he really doesn't care about his students, his actions show that to be a lie. Many times he would explain difficult concepts to students that were having trouble understanding. He wouldn't also agrue if the studnet refused to see it from his point of view. Be warned he HAS a sense of humor.
He is the person who can't get over his childhood, and pretty much interested to know about students childhoods.he is also not satisfy with his sex life after changing more than dozen of girlfriends, (as what he said during the lecture). He is full of it.
I used to hate his questions from the book. However, that's what made me learn something. If his class is easy or hard is up to you.He gave me a "C" but actually i deserved it.
I was pleasantly surprised with this Hybrid class. Chris is an excellent professor. He asked that you take the time to learn by attending class, participating, doing the Reflective Writings and the Reflective Writings discussion board online. He was always helpful and taught with passion and a bit of humor. I highly recommend this professor.
This class is very interesting! It changed my way of thinking. It was a little overwhelming at first because there is alot of writing, however, it is about yourself - doing alot of soul searching. Mr. Kuchuris is great, I recommend it only if you are ready to be a little open minded.
Like everyone says, he is full of himself. The text is beyond horrible. Wish I would have taken a traditional critical reasoning class.
I found this class to be very resourceful. It is definitely a demanding class, but if you truly apply yourself and pay close attention to what he's asking, you'll get it. Life-changing for myself and for the best! I would definitely recommend, but not without warning that this class is no joke.
I really enjoyed this class and the discussion postings. I got an A and that was with bombing the mid-term and final. If you open your mind to what is being taught you will do just fine. His book for the class wasn't that bad. Overall I would highly recommend this professor and I would take a class again from him.
I took him in Fall 2009 as a online course. It was not what I expected. Be warned it is a very demanding class. The class average was about 68%. I failed both the Mid-term and Final however my assignment grades improved dramatically. I ended up with a C+ which I am very proud off. Last note on Professor he was very helpful when I needed it.
very cool teacher.. really grasps the idea of college and how theyre shouldnt be stupid rules. very laid back. the class was really interesting and the homework is as hard as you make it. cheap textbook too
Expects you to think
Do yourself a favor and find another teacher. You'll be VERY glad you did!
This Professor expects you to open your mind a little and do participate in the few, 4 weeks, classes! He is so helpful if you just ask. A hybrid class that was interesting and a great learning experience. I highly recommend this Professor. Helpful and treats you with respect, as an adult. PHIL can be dry but he truly makes it interesting and fun.
Good class and good instructor! I appreciated that his approach really made students think about the perspective they come from (what influences their thinking before they respond with an opinion) and that he expects students to explain their answers and reasoning. The critical reasoning skills learned are most useful!
I took this class online and was not doing well the first couple of weeks, however once I started responding to questions in the way the teacher wanted (weather they were objective or not) I started getting good grades. tell the teacher what they want to hear, boost their ego and you will do fine
You have to pretend that you agree with him. He likes to see students swipe at each other in discussion forums. He thinks he is changing the way you think but doesn't realize the hypocracy of what he preaches. HORRIBLE, worst class ever.
i very much enjoyed his class. If you are going to take him ...there will be a lot of writing involved and discussions. This class was challenging but fun. as long as you do your work and use your brain you should do well. class isnt for lazy people. I have learned more in this class online than any other online class i've ever taken.
not a bad teacher but gives lots of work and is not a good teacher for lazy people
His class was not that bad. I will end up with an A after this semester. It is alot of work. A reading assignment and 1-5questions which may have to be a page each plus a discussion forum. If you use terms from the book he will score you higher. Respond to his questions the way he wants you to and you will do fine.
I just finished taking his PHIL102 class online. Weekly assignment was to answer the 5 questions in the back of each chapter, and an online discussion about one of the questions. He wants detailed answers and looks for how well you can support your point of view, rather than right answers. It's an easy class; if you do the work, you'll pass.
i like this guy. i just finished his class with an A and it was a lot of writing. 2-3 page papers a week and a revision of one question each week. it may suck at first, but once you figure him out, he is easy. he doesnt care if you are right or wrong just as long as you can back up what you are saying, you will be fine.
I took his online class. Overwhelming at first as there is A LOT of reading. Each assignment required at least 3-4 pages each week, but once you get into it, it was simple. There is no right or wrong answer, just be detailed in explaining why you think the way you do about your answers and statements.
Not a fair teacher to say the least. My GPA as a 4.0 before his class. I had my son during this class, and he gave me a zero for an assignment that was due while I was in the hospital. Not fair, and it brought my grade down to a B.
This class was a lot of reading and writting. I did get something out of it. You have to buy the book the teacher wrote. This class does take a lot of time. The midterm and final are kinda wierd but I got an A in the end
Pretty interesting class, alot of reading. Be prepared to read and think! Overall it's educational , but a lot of work!
I enjoy his style of teaching. He isn't about hovering over you. So, if you're one of those that depend on the teacher for everything, he is not the one for you. He expects YOU to figure things out. Which you should be doing anyway. He wrote his OWN textbook, so it makes things easier as well. BE prepared to read and write a lot.
Wrote his own book which is useless and ask for your personal views on things but does not accept your personal answers as being satisfactory if you don't add enough b.s to your answers. If you are a direct person DO NOT take this class.
Good Professor
Online class. Very demanding, completely ignores major holidays so expect to be involved with this class 7 days a week. I heard my classmates said it took them no time at all, but the shorter the answers the worse the grade. Writting intensive. I learned a ton but if i would've known beforehand I wouldn't have taken it.
If there is another professor available look them up. I have never worked so hard in my life for a class. 5 essays are assigned each over a page long (which is the min) and are due on Wednesday. The subject matter is very challenging and effects your personal life. It's a great class if you don't have a life.
Avoid this class if you can. I took his online class and it really is tons of writing. 15 chapters with 5 difficult to answer questions after each. Each question requires a minimum of 1 page double spaced response. Every week you will cover 1 chapter. So every week you'll be reading a bunch and writing 5-10 pages.
Upfront from the beginning! His online class was a lot of work, but so worth it. I have never learned so much in 1 class. He makes you think! He answered my emails quickly! Earning an A in his class was so rewarding! I recommend him unless you are looking for a boring class that is full of memorization and little thought! Not an easy A but worth it
He is very understanding, tolerant, and he likes punctuality and well established professor!
Hard work but worth the A. I learned a lot. He does not baby his students. He is clear from the start. Lots of writing, but I have never learned so much from one class. No tests or exams, just weekly assignments. If you like to work and earn your grades, take his class!!!
Worst. Professor. Ever. Ego maniac, you HAVE to buy HIS book. Only class I've ever gotten below an A in. I submitted an assignment to him, but did it "the wrong way" (but didn't get reprimanded before for it), received an F. Asked if I could resubmit it the right way (because it was obvious I did the work.) He would not let me.
Critical thinking is the most important skill for all of mankind. This class IS challenging, but you LEARN a lot. If you want easy A you don't want to learn. I am re-taking this class not because I earned a c+ but because their is nothing more important than thinking skills. This class will help you throughout college and for the rest of your life.
Professor Kuchuris was awesome! I loved his class and I passed with flying colors. It is extremely writing intensive and no late work is accepted no matter what. It seemed only a few people in my class were worthy of his 100% grade. I really enjoyed this class! and he was very prompt with grading. I would highly recommend. Oh he wrote his book BTW.
Helpful teacher you can learn a lot about yourself and leave all of your opinions at the door. This is a writing intensive class usually writing 1 page or more for one question and there is usually 5 questions. Worth it just have to put some time into it.
Definitely a teacher of life lessons. He is strict and requires in depth writing assignments every week. He does not grade your work individually, but teaches you to look for areas of improvement and perform self assessments. I learned a lot about my self and learned to look at life and people without biased stereotypes.
Tough grader if opinions are not fully supported. Workload is HEAVY. On average I wrote 10 to 16 page papers, plus there is a discussion due each week that would be equivalent to another 3 to 5 pages. Theres more! There are responses you must make to other students each week. I really enjoyed this class though, and highly recommend this professor.
He knows his stuff and he knows what he's doing. He makes all his expectations extremely clear from the beginning. It is a writing-intensive class, appx 5-15 pgs per week, & he expects you to walk your talk through active discussion. Couldn't have asked for a better instructor! Only drawback: he uses students' examples, which I found uncomfortable
Soooo much work but you will learn a lot!
A lot of writing, he expects a page per question, but he never assigns more than 5 questions. Overall, this is an amazing class. I learned so much, and I can easily say this is the best class I have taken. Just make sure that you like to write, and write a lot!
Writing intensive, 1 page per question weekly usually more than one question, gives no feedback expects you to self evaluate, beware of grading policy, it varies from normal percentage points, it follows this guideline: 70% D,77.5% C, 85% B, 92% A.
PROS: -Consistent assignments (a discussion and a writing assignment) due every week -Very clear when giving feedback -Affordable textbook CONS: -No extra credit and doesn't accept late assignments so you have to be on your A game 100% of the time. You don't have the flexibility to not do well on a assignment. *Textbook is a must!
Great Proffesor! He really makes you think on a deeper level than usual. I learned so much!
This was one of my favorite classes. It was not easy, but I learned so much. There are no exams just writing assignments. One week you turn in a paper, the next you participate in a class discussion. During discussion weeks you have to respond to at least two or three other posts. The assignments make you think and his feedback is great.
This class easy if you do exactly what the teacher asks. I got a 90+ on all of my assignments by doing what he asked of us, i.e stating the definition of a topic, my view/opinion, and then providing an example/what I would do. Answer every question, for the discussions make sure to reply to a majority of the replies on your post, and others.
Stay away if you are looking for an easy A that's not going to happen with this guy, His assignments are ridicules he has 2 pages worth of garbage to tell you for his assignments. If you like to read a lot of pages and write a lot of papers than this class is for you. If not STAY AWAY!!!!
I was worried about taking a philosophy class because of my religious beliefs but Professor Kuchuris is very respectful of all beliefs and more so wants to challenge the WAY you think. He creates a professional and open atmosphere, he continually offers help and gives really awesome feedback.
He is very respectful but does not believe in giving extensions and make up work. He is very straight forward with grading . I took the eight week online class and it was all writing assignments. They were somewhat lengthy. I am not sure if I would take him again
The professor is an obvious case of an egomaniac. 'Forces you to buy and read text from the book that he wrote, and it's filled with trite and insanely watered down philosophical concepts that make you roll your eyes when reading them. But If you play his game and adjust your work to what he wants to see, you'll get good grades. Lots of writing.
Teacher was a tough grader. The way he starts his book makes the reader feel as though they are incompetent, and also send us an email at the beginning of the semester that seems to stress that as well. Teacher should be there to assist us not put us down. Be ready to read and take a lot of notes; this was an online class for me.
At first he comes off as very intimidating and I really did not like him. Shortly after time went on I learned that he is the best teacher Ive had. His assignments take a lot of time and work but all you have to do is READ THE MATERIAL AND ABIDE BY THE GRADING RUBRIC FOR A GOOD SCORE. This class is really helping me in life and I mean that.
He came off as though he felt he was superior to those taking his class, and his textbook had a superior tone as well (He wrote it). The feedback he gives is very broad and is put in the class announcements, not individually to each student. HW is a paper and discussion on and off. He does not allow any late work nor does he offer extra credit.
