Chris Larsen is one of the BEST math teachers on campus. Normally I HATE math, but I actually found myself enjoying her course (College Algebra). I ended up with an A...and she was ALWAYS available to help me when I had questions! Sometimes gives E.C.
this teacher... she is okay i guess.. butt she movesss fast... anddd quiz every meetingg... which sucks.. doesnt give u enough timeee on it eitherr.... she is funny sometimes or atleast tries to beee...i wudnt take her againn
Fast paced teaching style. Be sure you don't take this class first thing in the morning, unless you leave your credit card on file at Starbucks or you'll be sorry. As long as you can keep up, you should do fine.
Not a bad teacher... she moves pretty fast but she seems to really care for her students and encourages them to get help either from her or the lab. I like how she gives us handouts to take notes on... they are good study tools!
she's not the greatest teacher... but her teaching style is pretty understandable. She moves too fast and doesn't really answer your questions. She just says to go to the Math Lab. I don't like asking her for help in the math lab either. wouldn't take her again.
She is one of the best teachers I've had for math. She is nice and entertaining, for she has conversations with herself out loud since no one talks in the class. She teaches by using note handouts which is pretty effective. The tests are pretty staight forward with a couple hard questions.
Her handouts are helpful, but she moves very fast and does not pause to ensure understanding--even when you ask questions. Her grading policies are very strict. If you have an 89.4, don't expect a 90. No joke.
Treats you like you're in high school, goes incredibly fast and then when you ask about your grade, treats you like a college student. Very hard.
really funny, cool, helpful and she gave us cookies and M&M's
She keeps you interested in the class. Her grading is cool because you get drop some low scores.

She's great. I love her.
Never gives enough time on the tests and quizzes if you get distracted easily don't take her she will talk during the test and expect you to finish quickly...
shes very thurough and its easy to get an A or B in the class. you just have to do the home work. after that its easy to study for the test.
DON'T TAKE THIS TEACHER FOR ANY MATH CLASS. She doesn't care about students. I asked her to explain a problem, she says thats what math lab is for. I wouldn't recommend her to my worst enemy.
She is a horrible instructor. She refueses to answer questiosn duirng lectures and tell students to go to math lab if they need help. Test and quizzes are very hard and unfair. She lectures very fast and her lectures are unclear She assigns alot of HW and collects it at every class. There is a quiz at every class. She is very rude. Don take her!
Dont take this lady. She is very hard. She also not very nice or helpful. She belittles students when they have a question. NO EC or reviews for exams. She does not grade on the curve. Must do the math lab hours to pass the class. She lectures very fast and her lectures are very unclear. She is never at her office hours. She is a paycheck teacher.
Her class is very hard to pass. Dont take her unless you are a math major. She talks to you like you already know the material and refuses to anwer questiosn. Her tests are very hard. The majority of the class failed the first test. Lectures are very unclear and scattered. She is very cold and unsensive. Does not care if you fail or not. Dont take
A very cold and unsensitive women. Very anal about attendance and tardies. She will drop you for pre-req and excessive absences/tardies. Her tests are very hard. 90 percent of class failed the first test. She is never at her office hours. Class Routine: Quiz, turn in hw, assign hw and then leave. Expected to self teach yourself the material.
she is way easy, come to class daily, do the easy not time consuming homework. and thats all it takes to get atleast a B. the quizzes are off the homework and the tests are off the quizzes. EASY. just do the homework.

I took her for trig and I have never had a teacher who is more straight forward about her lectures and her expectations. She printed out notesheets for every student which followed exactly with her lecture, and yes, she assigns homework, collects it, and gives a quiz every day, but there are no tricks. Do the work and you will pass and understand.

One of the best math teachers I have ever had. Though her interaction with you one on one if you ask a question before or after class is a 180 from in class (a bit cold) she teaches well and presents information in a way that is easy to understand. She is clear on what is due, and lowest test grade and quiz are dropped. Lots of hw and quiz.
Like any other math teacher, if you do the work, keep up in class, pay attention you will do more than fine, she is straight forward about everything - (This means no last minute tricks) Tests are just a revised version of notes she gives in class.. no feedback whatsoever, even gave us Bagels to eat before the final... A+++ teacher, Thanks!
Good teacher, will explain anything you ask. Make sure you do the homework and come to class...there is a quiz everyday. Very helpful and nice.
Shes super clear and super sweet but kind of mean one on one. she provides guided note sheets and offers extra credit on every test.
I've had this teacher for Math 100,141,and 142. She's the most helpful instructor I've ever had. Everybody saying she's the worst is in Math20/40, and probably has a problem with ALL math teachers. If you're willing to learn and eager to succeed, she will help you dearly.
She was a great and really easy teacher... She worked out of the book and all you had to do was do the homework and keep up on lab hours. Her test were very easy and right out of the notes...
Great teacher!
Difficult class. Lots of homework. But she gives you lots of chances to clear up bad grades on tests an quizzes. She only counts 10 quizzes a semester, and you may take as many as 13
Prof. Larsen is a VERY GOOD teacher. If you need to take a math class I would highly recommend enrolling in hers. She gives great notes and if you do the homework and study you will do well in the class. I'm not that great at math, but I'm getting an A in this class. Plus, she lets you use a notecard on the final.
Larsen is a pretty good teacher..goes through chapters kinda fast so if ur not already good at math then she might be kinda difficult..pretty much just like any other math class...but she lets u drop your lowest test and a couple of quizes..and shes not bad looking either..
She gives study notes for each section and quiz questions are taken for those notes and homework. Exam questions are taken from the quiz questions and maybe 4-5 from homework. She doesn't trick you, all the questions are taken from what she has taught you.
I love her! This is what I want from a math teacher. She doesn't baby-sit you, but she teaches you exactly what you need. It's up to you to ask questions and visit the math lab. However, sense her lectures are so clear I hardly ever have trouble with my math. THANK YOU, MRS. LARSEN!!
She is really good, she was my first math prof in the USA so i worried a lot, at first. but her lecture is really clear and eventhough i took her classes both 141 and 142, it doesnt overwhelm me.Her quiz and test are not that hard if you did HW and attended class. SHE IS A GREAT TEACHER!
Come to class, pay attention, use her notesheets and write useful things on them, do the homework, and you'll get an A. Chris hands you papers that sum up each section of each chapter and all you need to do is pay attention to her lecture and you'll do fine on quizzes and tests. Book isn't touched other than for homework. "A" if you do all those.
Very good teacher, she does move a little fast though, so I'd avoid her if you're a little slow at math. Study the notes she hands out and do the homework and you should do well. Tests are exactly like the quizzes and you get to drop lowest test and quizzes. Pretty easy A. She does seem a little snobby though when approached with questions.
I took her in Fall '08.Class wasn't so bad.She moves in a fast pace though.Provides class notes so study them b/c quizzes & tests look similar to her notes.Lowest quiz & test gets dropped, and HW is essential b/c she collects them. One thing I didn't like:she seemed snobby when approached w/ questions.
explains everything perfectly. hw everyday. small quiz everyday. never had a math prof that actually got me to like math
Kind of stand-offish personality, but she's a really good instructor.
Great teacher. Class was very easy, homework everyday and small quizzes on days homework is due (so every day). I?m not a fan of math, but she made it very easy. The notes she gives out are very similar to the tests/quizzes. She?s available for questions. Although it?s very easy. Seriously. Just show up and get the notes. Easy A.
She is a good teacher. Pretty basic and to the point. A bunch of quizzes, several midterms, one project and one final. Pretty easy class. Do all the work and you should be fine. Her personality is kind of odd. She comes off as cool and chill sometimes and other times she can be quite snobby.
The last time I got an A in math was in Jr. High. To my surprise I got an A in her class. Granted you have to put in effort, pay attention and do your homework, but her class is doable. Ms. Larsen wants you to do well and taught the subject very clearly. Her tests and quizzes were manageable. She is just a great person overall!!
She is a GREAT teacher. I've never gotten an A in math before, and I did with her! Her lectures and homework perfectly predict what will be on the quizzes, which reflect what will be on the exams! She is really funny and easy to talk to. Take her for 141 and 142! No duh people say 141 is hard, it has the highest drop rate of any course at FJC!!
EXCELLENT INSTRUCTOR--I wish more instructors would approach teaching math the way she does. Tips: Show up to every class, do ALL of the homework assignments, and print out all of the note-sheets she has prepared for you. I took her for 141 and 142 last semester and got A's in both--was not a walk in the park but I never felt lost/confused.
She is ok. Teaches well, but she sounds like she is talking to 3rd graders all the time...king of annoying. Overall good, but she is ALWAYS late, so you end up waiting in the hall for like 5min until she decides to show up. Good teacher, but annoying.
By far the best math teacher I've ever had! Got A+ in 141/142 same semester! Wish she was teaching higher math classes. Do what she tells you and you will for sure pass the class. Drops lowest quizzes and test. She even brought bagels during finals! This is the math teacher to take for 141/142.
Extremely helpful and completely fair. Very fast paced but will offer you her time when requested. Explains material very well and even drops a few of your lowest quiz and exam scores
This class was hard. But I am glad that I took it with here. She is organized, helpful, and wants you to pass. She is a good teacher. What i liked about her is that she would tell us about how important it is for us to do well in school. She cares about her students. I recommend. Just do all your homework and you should do fine.
What Can I Say? She was practically the easiest teacher I have ever had! I was dreading going into this class because of my previous experience with TRIG, but I was wrong. Professor Larsen is willing to help any individual who asks for help. Remember she cannot read minds, so YOU must go up to her and tell her if you need help. Take the Class!
Firstly she deals out a lot of Homework so be prepared to work your butt off in her class. Her teaching method is very indirect because she believes there is to much material to cover to go to indepth. She doesnt go step by step because she thinks you should have several of the steps down since you are passed the math 40 level.
Umm.... She is a really cool Professor. The best part of her is that she does not rush as many others do. We are still at least 4 exercises behind other 142 classes but we'll make it. You have to be honest with yourself before taking her class because she is really straight forward and a no-no to her is a no-no
awesome!
The one positive thing i can say about her is that she knows her math. the only problem i had with her was that she is very rude and stand-offish, and expects her class to know everything that she knows. she does drop one test and a few quizzes. I would only take her if she was the only option.
good professor. an A is possible.
Great teacher. She makes you understand the subject with all the quizzes she gives you which might sound painful but its really beneficial. She has passion for the subject and it shows, she goes in depth with the math and its easy to understand the notes.
I recommend Chris Larsen for trigonometry. She likes the subject and it kind of rubs off on you. She is also interested in your overall success so she gives you encouragement or correction throughout the semester. She gets you into the habit of doing your homework. Also if you need extra help, go to her office hours, it helps. Good luck:)
BEST TEACHER EVER!!!! She sets up the class to help you do good. She is so nice and very good at explaining the concepts
BEST TEACHER!!! If you miss class all the time dont take her. If you want to learn and have a helpful teacher then TAKE HER!
Just awesome, teaches like no one does. For those who want to learn,
She seemed standoffish on first impression, but she is a SUPER nice teacher. She's really into what she does, so she probably just gets super into what she's saying. She teaches EXTREMELY well, the only problem with clarity I had were about how she explained the lab assignments. Overall, I HIGHLY reccomend her for Math 142!
She is a very good teacher. It was my first semester in US. I wasn't doing good in the beginning, but her homeworks and quizzes made me to practice a lot. If u don't submit the homework, she will take out points from the quiz. This led me to work hard. Overall she is nice and helpful and learned a lot of stuffs from her. I got B+ :)
very friendly and helpful. i enjoyed her very much and would definitely recommend her. she does have daily quizzes but drops 4 of them and allows a 3x5 card for the final.
Mrs. Larsen is an incredible teacher! She really explains the material well and is always recommending the math lab which is very helpful! Definitely need to do the homework! Do the work, study, and you'll be just fine.
She was helpful and as long as you do the required homework you should be good. KEEP ALL QUIZZES.
Okay teacher but comes off a bit patronizing. Also tends to rush students during quizzes and tests. Gives 50 minutes for tests in a 2 hr class. Whats the rush?
she was very clear in teaching trig and very interesting. i would recommend her to anyone.
Throughout the semester of taking her class I have learned so much. She knows how to present a problem that allows the class to understand. There are quizzes every Thursday and a total of 4 Mid-terms (yes I know it makes no sense) and a Final. She drops lowest quizzes and mid-terms and replaces it with the Final. I highly recommend her for Trig:)
She is a really great teacher. Explains things specially and in a way we can understand. She's was probably the best teacher I had at fc
HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!! Larsen is the best 142 professor. She is funny and very easy. Attend class, take notes and DO LAB ASSIGNMENTS to get an A. She is very easy and you learn a lot from her class, do take her!!!
Great professor, especially for those that have a difficult time with math. She goes into a lot of detail and shows why certain things workdo not work.
Best math professor ever! Her lecture makes understanding very easy and gives detailed explanations. There is homework and quiz everyday but it helps keeping up with the lecture. Quizzes and tests are not difficult. If you hate math, yet you have to take it anyway, Take her class! She will make it easy for you.
Easiest teacher ever!!! Everybody loves easy teachers!!! Don't take if you are a math major.
Excellent teacher and makes math actually fun
Homework is mandatory, tough grader on exams. Breaks down the subject matter and explains the "here's why" parts. When it comes to the final grade, she is generous, yet fair. Fantastic teacher - you can pass for sure if you don't get lazy. Attendance absolutely IS mandatory.
she is great, too many quizzes but you will definitely learn trigonometry. Exams are easy if you take notes. She has reviews before every exams which helps a lot. she gives extra quizzes so if you spend an hour every week at math lab and do the lab assignments before every exam, she will replace the lowest graded quizzes with highest. No regret!
Trig can be difficult for a lot of people but Chris made it really easy. She'll take time to explain the concepts until everyone has it down. There's also a lot of opportunities to get an A like a dropped test and dropped quizzes. The HW is just enough to get the concepts down- she's very conscious of not giving you an unnecessary amount.
Larsen is the best math teacher. Gives weekly homework quizzes. Do HW, pass the quiz. She is a GREAT instructor and she definitely knows what she is talking about. She gives multiple math workshops throughout the semester and they are super helpful. Only got a C because I did not try hard enough and missed a lot of quizzes. TAKE THIS CLASS
Professor Larsen cares about her students understanding the lessons. Always there when you need the extra help. Lectures are clear and straight to the point. Homework quiz almost everyday. 4 exams and one final. If you want to drop an exam do the math hour and assignment which is the same layout as exams! She drops 2 lowest quizzes. Take her!!!
Makes trig fun! I never understood trig and she just knows how to explain it and simplify it. Lab assignments and makeup quizzes are not mandatory but they help by: 1) giving extra practice, 2) being able to drop your lowest test score. She has the perfect teaching style and knows how to motivate students and get them excited about trig.
If you liked high school, you'll like this class. Pretty much the same as being in high school.
One of the best math teachers I've ever had. Always in a good mood, good math puns. The examples in the homework are exactly what's on the exams. No surprises on the exams. Gives opportunities to replace quizzes that you did poorly on. Put a good amount of effort and you'll get an A. There is an opportunity to drop the lowest score on an exam.
Larsen is an amazing Professor who's truly dedicated to the success of her students. She's very personable and provides a lot of opportunities to make sure you pass. She provides extremely helpful study guides in the math lab and doesn't surprise you on tests. You wont regret taking her class.
She really cares about her students and their success. She is always willing to help and offers several explanations on how to solve problems. Her tests are very similar to her study guides and notes. No surprises at all. Will let you drop your lowest exam. Offers print outs for notes which help a lot!
She is truly dedicated to her students and their success in the class. Gives very clear explanations about the material and offers several methods on how to solve the problem. Lots of opportunities to pass and boost your grade. Allows you to drop lowest exam as long as you meet the requirements. Exams were just like the notes and hw.
She is a good professor who gives a lot of handouts and stuff that aren't for credit but are really helpful. I would recommend taking her math 100 if you struggle with math but need the credit.
I love Professor Larsen! She is a great teacher and always will slow down to explain anything for her students. She gives many quizzes that are based exactly on the homework assigned and only keeps the highest 10 scores. Her tests are also exactly as the homework and quizzes and she makes it easy to pass as long as you take the time to understand.
Miss. Larsen is an excellent professor! Hands down the best math professor I have ever had. She genuinely cares and wants students to do well. There is a lot of extra credit offered and she goes out of her way to help you succeed. Put in the effort and an A is attainable.
This teacher is very helpful but be aware she is a very tough grader. She makes you take a quiz once a week and drops the 2 lowest quiz. Although she is a very good teacher she grades extremely hard. She once took off a point because my graph was not "curved" enough.
She dropped my lowest exam despite me not completing nearly enough hours. Hallelujah. Easy class if you go to the math lab every day.
The class is not difficult if you do all the homework, pay attention during lectures, and use the resources that are available to you. She drops two quizzes (I believe) and an exam if you do all the review sheets and spend 3 hrs in the math lab per week. The only thing I didn't like about the class were the timed quizzes/exams- I felt rushed.
Professor Larsen is the best trig professor! You NEED to take her class! Her class does require you to put in some work but as long as you study the notes, do the homework, and complete the lab assignments, you will get an A. Highly recommend taking her! She gives a lot of quizzes which is great because it allows you to keep up with the material.
She is really nice and explains all the topics well. She will drop a test if you go to the math lab weekly. Which is not too bad, as you can work on your HW there. Lots of opportunities to learn the material. Tests are similar to quiz questions and math lab assignments. FYI dont miss the last class before the final, she almost hands you the test Qs
Great Professor! Homework was all online but its pretty similar to lecture. Tests are pretty easy as long as you pay attention in class. Quiz once a week but she only uses your best 10 quizzes and drops the rest! Overall Phenomenal Teacher! Would 100% recommend for TRIG!
If you're just trying to get through Math 100 and no more, Chris is a good choice. She tries to make her lessons relevant to the real world as much as possible. Make sure you do the online homework assignments; I made the mistake of ignoring them and had to do hundreds of them the weekend before the final. Overall, good class!
Okay, let me first say, yeah shes good at explaining things for those who are relatively new or have not taken the course for a while. However, she goes so slow, she does not go by the syllabus at all. In my case, I rely on the syllabus religiously. She definitely doesn't go by it. Rushes the last few chapters on the last few weeks of school. Meh..
4 exams, plus the final. I love trig, and she def knows how to teach. you have hw online but it's not a lot, however the amount you study is up to you. Quizzes every week, however she only counts 12 and the rest she drops the lowest. every quiz she gives out WILL be on the test so KEEP EM. other than that, goodluck! (:
One of the kindest professors ever. She is probably the best person to teach this subject. She explains the information so well you would think she invented the concept herself. She also shows great interest in her students. Somehow she makes a tough subject super easy to understand. Easily the BEST trigonometry professors you could ever have.
Easy class,, but I disliked how unaccessible she was. I know of several people, including myself, that can tell you that she won't reply to your emails even if they involve questions about assignments, etc
From first day/before the covid thing she was late to class a lot/things she runs outside of class take a lot of her energy i guess, not clear about what she wants, hw will just get dropped on you, super inflexible. Covid transition has been a nightmare, held class & gave hw when admins said class was cancelled.
This class takes a lot of time and effort to get a good grade. She's still offering to drop the lowest exam score. Also has us take a lot of quizzes and only keeps the top 10 scores. Available to make a video conference and help you with whatever you need. Added another tutoring session to help. Overall, she cares about helping her students pass.
Professor Larsen is a great professor, because she takes the time to outline each chapter. Every week there was a quiz or 2 but she only kept the best 10. You must attend the class everyday because theres a lot of material in each chapter that is critical. Theres 3 tests and one final. I took this course during COVID-19 And she made it manageable
One of the best math professor Ive had. Easy A if you commit from the very beginning. Very clear and she helps if you dont understand something. She is also the Math Lab coordinator, so she will want you to use the resources from the school (which are very helpful). She gave us an opportunity to replace an exam grade by doing some extra tasks.
gives you the resources to get a good grade with her quiz and test replacement method. definitely not an easy class. Only gripe I had with her was that her tests were times an insanely short times. I along with friends in class either had just enough time to finish without checking work or couldn't finish the exam. I think they were timed @ 45min
A summer completely online course at 7 am and she wont upload the lectures to watch later. You have to be at every zoom and you can not review them later. The class was extremely accelerated due to summer but regardless she did very little teaching and just put the class into breakout groups where no one knew what to do. Must show your face on zoom
I took Professor Larsen Summer 2020. I had to take this class because I hadn't taken a math class in awhile but Larsen helped with how she taught. I don't like taking online classes but Larsen made it easier and helped anyone who had questions. If you pay attention and do the problems she assigns, the class shouldn't be hard.
She literally lays out everything for you through her modules. She'll help you take it step-by-step and will do everything she can to help you get a good grade. Lectures were amazing, extra resources on material, and homework problems are exactly what you see on the exams. She's a reasonable and great teacher! 10/10 folks
Professor Larsen was absolutely amazing, her class was very easy if you pay attention. Her course is very organized and you can always improve your grade when it comes to homework assignments, not only that but she drops your lowest test grade. Professor Larsen is very caring, I hope to take one of her classes again in the future.
rating are good but this professor gives homework daily theres videos, notes, and questions so get ready to do math everyday. The material is hard online because no one is there to answer your questions. Professor seems nice but goes to fast I barely know what im learning and forget the material because youre already learning new material.
She is an amazing professor and always wanting to help her students in and outside the class.
Larsen is easy to communicate with and is kind. The online textbook is frustrating because you can answer something right, and be marked wrong. The math content is difficult, I did not pass a single test. I STILL PASSED THE CLASS! If you work hard and do all the homework, you will pass with a C! Tried and true. God bless professor Larsen.
Professor Larsen is approachable and tries to make the material engaging. The online textbook can be frustrating, but doing all the homework is key to passing. unstuck ai and other study tools helped me get through the challenging content.
Professor explains concepts clearly with examples and a structured teaching style. Lectures are engaging but fast paced (summer course), provided additional material to help memorizes and practice for graphs and the unit circle. She is approachable, organized, and genuinely cares about students success. Highly recommend!
Really good at explaining math concepts when she lectures and very aware of whether students are following along. There is a lot of homework, and students must watch videos and take notes since class focuses on solving problems rather than discussion. The workload takes up most of my study time and I ended up getting behind on other class.
She was very understanding of the students in my class (myself included) and always nice and willing to help. She does her best to make sure we pass her class. There is definitely a lot of homework, and it can be time consuming, but it's easy for the most part. Using the Pearson website was the only issue I had with this class honestly.
