This teacher is so sweet and considerate of the student's needs. She answers all of your questions;knows her stuff. The class was really extensive but if you are on top of your notes and do the work, its an easy A.She gave an outline for each days' lecture which was so great. Definitely recommended.
There is a lot of information to cover in this class, however, she breaks down her lessons and uses good examples(such as videos) to prove the material. She is very understanding and will help as much as you need it. She is very organized and is definately a professor who is recommended!
I think that she should continue teaching. She's very nice and she doesn't mind the tardiness or the constant "not-showing-up-for-class". She's really laid back and I like that. The only thing that I would say is that she needs to speak a little louder. When someone moves, you miss everything.
She's very clear! She def. knows her stuff! I give her an A! Her lectures are very informative and profound. She is very passionate, especially when it comes to native american studies. Great professor overall! STay on top of notes and assignments. She'll definitly change you as a person..
Super nice teacher! Her tests are easy if you study what's on her review sheets.
WOW...she needs to learn to PROJECT her voice! what kind of professor whisPers her lectures?!!! good luck staying awake guyz
She is a great teacher, very helpful and she'll answer any questions you might have, just keep up with the lectures and notes, and you'll do fine on the tests!! There are some take home quizzes, and Article Responses, I highly recommend this class!!
the nerve of this lady to lecture! you can't hear a THING she says...pretty annoying i must say...reminds me of a weasel
She does whisper which is kind of annoying, especially since it does mean you can miss something if someone as much as shifts in their seat (and I sat in the front). But you can tell she really cares about her students, and she is passionate about anthropology.
Class is not impossible, she makes it very easy to do well if you're willing to put in the work. She's very very helpful, and very nice, lots of extra credit on tests and quizzes, you screw up a little, and you can still get a high score. If your smart enough and try, you'll do well.
She's a great Professor.Okay, so she's not the LOUDEST woman on earth, but sit close and pay attention and you'll do fine. Also there is a such thing as raising your hand and asking if you miss something.Loeffler is great, helpful, and interesting.
Her class is so boring and cold...and her tests aren't hard, there pretty easy, if you study your notes and the study guide. She loves to give individual assistance which is great. Loeffler is really passionate about her career and it shows up in her teaching. Class is somewhat difficult but she makes it all interesting.
Nice teacher. I did well in her class and I appreciated all the help and personal attention I got from her. She's a great teacher. If you want to learn Anthro the right way, get her.
Nice & helpful/ interesting/ understanding, albeit soft spoken. She gives out a review sheet that is all inclusive before the test. Not a hard class if you can keep focus and handle her style.
Probably one of the nicest profs I've ever had. She knows a great deal about anthropology and is excited about bringing it to the class room. Her traditional style (no powerpoint) is easy to follow and the exams are never too much of a challenge. If you do
professor loeffler is awesome, i have never had a professor who cares about her students as much as she does, even if your not interested in anthropology she makes it fun and interesting, and she tells you everything that's important to know for tests
Great teacher! Her class is very organized and you always know what to expect for each class, quiz, and exam.
What a nice teacher! She actually makes an effort to know who people are in the class. Class and lectures are very organized. DON'T BUY THE TEXT BOOK...YOU DO NOT NEED IT. Everything comes straight from lectures.
helpful, understanding, makes the class and the tests easy. An excellent professor.
She is a very excellent professor. Extremely helpful and nice. If you need help, she will take the time to explain everything to you and make sure you understand. You don't need a book, since her tests and quizzes come from her lecture. If you take great notes, study, and get a good grade in your project, you should get an A in her class.
good professor, organized and clear. do all homework, take good notes, you will be fine.
Ms. Loeffler is extremely intelligent, very well versed, caring, & very helpful. She doesn't make you feel indimidated, if you are unsure about something, ask. I was always anxious to come to class & learn something new & her enthusiasm makes it that much more worthwhile. I am definitely taking her Physical Anthro class. I give her two thumbs up!
One of the greatest teachers i have ever had. Gives your hw assignments way in advance, just have to make sure you study good for the tests.
a great teacher! made me like anthropology and helped me decide my major. I would go back to ivc just to take one of her classes again. plus shes kinda hot
Passionate about the subject. It was always fun to see the fundamentalists get twitchy while talking about evolution. I have no professional interest in anthro, but this class was very interesting and i second the 'hot' part too.
one of the best teachers i have EVER had! she is extremely nice and extremely helpful. she is soo passionate about anthropology! she is always open to questions and helping out students. just do the study guide she gives you and it's an easy A. her tests are fairly easy too.
Absolutely amazing. Explains things well, answers questions, not overbearing on homework, grades test with extreme care in order to be fair(checks scantrons for correct answers marked wrong for example), engages in conversation with students, e-mails back to students just interested in knowing more. I would recommend this prof to anyone. A++
She is amazing, such an awesome sweet teacher. If you show her that you care about the class she will treat you nicely, actually, she treats everybody nicely. if you ask her questions she will explain you again even if they are dumb questions. i have learned so much from her class. I love her! she cares so much about her students :)
Really nice sweet teacher. She gives you great outlines and exams review to help you get good grades. She is passionate and explains well. She is very caring and sweet with all the students. I strongly recommend this class for personal enjoyment as well as for getting easily an A.
copy notes and listen.class is like watching discovery channel!makes it so interesting.VERY CLEAR.tests r xactly what's on study G.wants you 2 get "A",impossible 2 fail,attndnce counts,gives xtra crdt, quizzes u just have 2b prepared 4-dont worry.nothing is cumulative. EZ!She's really n2it & u will b2.dont buy the book!
Awesome teacher! Very nice and helpful, wants you to get an A. Willing to help you any way she can. Her lectures are very informative, just make sure you write down everything, including what she says even if it's not on the slide. Study guides tell you exactly what to study for. I would definitely take her again!
This class has its hard moments but if you study and make an effort, she will recognize it. She is always available by e-mail (even on weekends and holidays)if you get stuck and don't understand something. I highly recommend her. She is no push-over but she is fair. Also gets test grades back ASAP!
she's VERY helpful if you have any questions. just study hard and the tests are easy. doesn't give out homework, just 5 or so set of questions you have to turn in before each exams. her lectures are interesting at times and she makes them very understandable! she takes attendance but it's okay if you only miss ONE class.
She is a really nice teacher, her lectures can get boring sometimes but the material is not hard to get and if you show up for class a listen to the lectures, you will do just fine. I have taken her for Physical and Cultural Anthro and gotten an A in both. Their is homework, but it is not hard at all. I would recommend taking any of her classes!
One of the best teachers I've ever had. The class is very simple. She tells you exactly what is going to be on the tests. Good note-taking will really be the most important thing for you in her class. Very helpful, returns e-mails, and answers any questions that you have. There is a lot of information, but if you take good notes, you'll be fine!
Professor Loeffler is one of those rare professors that truly inspires her students to be better people. She does not only justice to her subject but intills a respectful of other cultures. With the attributes of gentility and wisdom she enhances each class. One leaves each class with a greater appreciattion of diversity. She is a honorable person.
Intro to Phys Anthro is not easy but she makes it very interesting! She is a great, inspiring professor! One of the best!
She is one of the most helpful teachers i have ever had, she is very helpful and she likes her students to get good grades, and she will do anything to help.
If you haven't taken Professor Loeffler--you must! She is the most understanding and caring teacher I've had at IVC. Her powerpoint lectures are very clear and concise, and her study guides are extremely helpful for the test--so use them! Be sure to attend class to get the points, and just to listen to a passionate professor!
such a hippie. hard test, stupid grading scale, must write 13 2 page papers on retarted bushman people. avoid at all costs. anthro is such a meaninless subject
Don't listen to person below. I guarantee that person sat in the back and did nothing all semester. She is a great teacher. He lectures are interesting, tests aren't hard and she gives extra credit on the tests. Articles dont take long to write. And she very helpful and approachable. You must take this class!
Amazing!!!! she is so caring and student-centered teahcer! i loved her anthro 1 and 2 classes!!! you have to take her class!!!!!
Language and culture class was a breeze. She really teaches passionately and you do have to come and work hard but it all pays off in the end. I could of had an A but I missed simple questions on test b/c I didn't study. Ejoyed subject and teacher. Great Anthro class
She's SUPER nice. Class is NOT easy. But she's very helpful. Go to class or else you'll miss SO much that there's no hope catching up. I think her lecture notes are sort of scrambled and a tad bit unorganized but no biggie as long as you can focus. All in all, shes very nice, and helpful, and this is a good professor to have for this subject.
One of the most amazing teachers I've ever had!Chris is very passionate about anthro and she makes her love for bonobos and bushmen infectious to everyone in the class. I absolutely love her and you must take her class!
i love chris, shes a great teacher and really wants you to do well. her class is fun and very interesting!!! i wish i could take more of her classes she inspired me to be an anthro major i love her!!!! best teacher you could ask for. take her class.
I love Prof. Loeffler! She is so intelligent & kind, that even if you don't feel like going to class you'll make yourself to hear her lectures, which are succinct and always relevant. I highly recommend her, and really appreciate that I have a prof. like her this semester to make an otherwise boring class awesome!
Highly recommend. Lecture is crystal clear. Take home quizzes. Material is HARD. Three tests and 1 paper. Final not cumulative.
Professor Loeffler is such a nice teacher... she really wants her students to understand the material and is always willing to help. as long as you take lots of notes during class and pay attention, you'll do well. her study guides are exactly what will be on the tests. i really like her and wish i could take another class with her.
Her passion for anthropology makes her an amazing teacher. the smile on her face as she is talking about the cultures that fascinate her make you WANT to learn and pay attention. i loved her class not because of everything i will take with me after, but because of her. she is a great teacher and makes the class easy with great study guides.
Chris is an amazing teacher that wants everyone to do well!!! She gives 2 or 3 midterms, a final, & 2 or 3 article assignments (she gives way in advance so the earlier u do them the better cuz they're a little time consuming) Her studyguides help a lot too so be sure to do them! Dont be lazy and ull get an A! She made me love anthropology!!!
I took her online Anthro class and I didnt like her teaching style at all. I gave a her shot because she rated so high on RMP.com but I was really disappointed. She grades very hard, and it takes her a long time to do so. HW and quizzes wouldnt be graded for weeks. She seems nice in email contact, juts didnt care for her classe structure.
I love love love professor Loeffler! She is an amazing teacher and her class was very interesting. She is very passionate in anthro and you can see it right away. Tests are based off lectures and the better the notes, the higher your grade. She gives a lot of opportunites for points so take advantage of it. Definitely recommend!
This woman is awesome. I was dreading Anth 3, the last class needed to fulfill my major requirements, afraid of how terribly boring it would be, but she made it interesting. My job requires me to spend days or weeks at sea, and she was very fair in her accommodations. She is eloquent, interesting, helpful, and knows her material.
This professor is not only a great educator but a truly fine person. It was an honour to have been her student. She treats her students very well and teaches her subject perfectly.
I took Professor Loeffler's online Anthropology class. It was pretty straight forward. Every week, you read one chapter (approx. 30 pg) and you answer 2 short essay questions and submit. Every 2 weeks, you have a quiz, and there are 4 total exams. There is also a research paper.
Professor Loeffler's isn't hard; there are just more assignments. My advice is to go to class and take good notes because she doesn't post her opts online. I would recommend her class because it's straightforward, but if you're taking a heavy load, it may not be too enjoyable. It takes her some time to respond to emails, but she is approachable.
Professor Loeffler is very passionate about Anthropology. I took her online course and went to her office for help when I had questions she was very nice and helpful. If you do not like to read the text do NOT take the course because reading is required. Her course is not the easiest; however, you will leave learning a lot about Anthropology.
Online Physical anthropology class was harder than I thought it'd be but what really messed me up was the 5 page research paper she requires. If I could've earned an A without it, I would've skipped the paper. She does not want you to write on a topic that is too easy to obtain sources. Three pages would've been more reasonable.
Very caring and helpful. Anthropology is hard to be interested in but she makes the class enjoyable.
Take Professor Loeffler!! Best professor at IVC!!!
Took her online class this Spring and it wasn't as easy as I thought it would be. Quizzes are SUPER easy, but her timed exams are a different story. The 5 page research paper is easy (you choose your topic) but 3-4 pages would have been more reasonable. Book was very dry, so I kind of wish I took this on campus. Overall, good class. I got an A.
I took this class only for the honors credit, but I liked it more than I thought I would. The material was interesting and she is a very good professor. The mini-projects weren't too hard and were fun to do. The tests and quizzes were fairly easy, the hardest part is the research paper and presentation. I recommend her if you can handle the paper.
DO NOT TAKE HER ARCHAEOLOGY CLASS!!! It was not what I expected. She's a very nice teacher, but her lecture are so hard to understand. The class was boring and her tests were so hard. The way she words her tests makes me want to rip my brain off! Unless you're an A student, don't take it.
Awesome professor! She made me love anthro and even consider majoring in it. 3 tests, final not cumulative, 1 research paper, extra credit on exams. Just go to class and take good notes and you'll be golden. Definitely take her!
AWESOMEEE professor! If there is something you do not understand, she is always willing to help, she always clarifies and her lectures are really fun :) Her quizzes are fairly easy. The exams aren't hard, As long as you go over her power points you should be sitting pretty. NOTE: take good notes on ch. outlines. Also, save $ and don'y buy textbook
LOEFFLER IS AMAZING! take her! so ur schedule is basically show up for each lecture and take notes, then she gives u a study guide that is exactly what is on the test and you are good. u also get a research paper, but she grades it fairly easy. i highly recommend her, you won't regret it!
Really nice and funny but a tough grader. She lets you retake quizzes if you miss them though. Study hard for the midterms and quizzes.
She's an amazing, fair, and friendly professor. Highly recommend. Take really good notes because she draws the test/quizzes from lectures (which are clear and structured). STUDY for tests. Fair about attendance, assignments, and is incredibly helpful all the time, especially during her office hours. You can tell she has a lot of experience/passion.
Can't hear her at all. She wasn't very helpful and during office visit she kept calling someone on her cell phone and made me wait. She seem more interested in trying to contact someone than help me
so, so great. Definitely a favorite. If you're there, listen, take notes, and read your book.. you'll be golden. A rewarding experience.
SHES THE NICEST PERSON EVER!! super understanding and flexible:) it's not hard but definitely put in the effort and getting an A shouldn't be a problem! Love her! RECOMMEND!!!
It is undoubted that everyone enjoys her class. Inclass homework is necessary and is a huge part of total grade; in other words, if you could do well enough in these assignments, you can relieve yourself from quizzes and exams and still get an A.
Professor Loeffler is quite possibly one of my favorite professors! Her class is not easy if you do not put in the time to study, but her study guides are VERY helpful and she is always there to help you if you don't know the material! She's incredibly knowledgeable and that's what makes her lectures so interesting!
Loeffler is an amazing and helpful teacher! Her lectures are really clear and concise but the power points she uses aren't online so it is important to come to class and copy them down word for word, as she takes the info and uses it directly on her tests. The textbook is NOT necessary at all with notes. She is always happy to help and answer Q's!
AMAZING TEACHER!!! One of the best professors I've ever had. Her lectures are clear & interesting. All the test and quizzes are literally based on the notes.. take good notes. Exams are easy if you study hard and use her study guides. Extremely helpful and super nice. There is a 6 page paper required but overall I would definitely take her again!
Professor Loeffler is an angel on earth. She is the most helpful and considerate teacher I have ever had. Her class is not the easiest, but you will get an A by showing up and taking good notes. I repeat GOOD NOTES. She is very helpful and will solve any problem of yours. Extremely nice, very passionate about what she teaches. I took ANTH1 and 2!
Very organized & super fast email response time but don't take if you like your material graded in a timely fashion. Takes 2 months to grade exams & the semester has been over for 3 weeks & 1/3 of the material isn't graded & there's no final grade yet. There are 3 article analysis papers & the journals you base them off of are very difficult reads.
Do not take this class if you want to get good grade!!! I got all other courses A. But, I got C in this course!!! This class made me hate anthropology so much!!!!!!!!!!
I loved this class (other than the three 3 pg analysis papers-uses Turnitin)! She is an organized online instructor & has lightning fast email responses. The material is fascinating & her study guides will make your 4 test grades. She also offers extra credit questions on exams. Only 4 disc boards (cake) & 5 easy 6-7 question quizzes.
loeffler is the best possible thing to happen to man kind. Honestly as an honors professor she is one of the very best! There are long projects but it is doable. Also she is excellent in helping lost students! do not skip class... she relies on lecture notes for tests
Amazing teacher and very clear! I would take her 100 times again!
Great professor! She is very kind and approachable. Seems to only teach morning classes so keep that in mind. Lecture based class and does require you to read the textbook. Be sure to take good lecture and book notes. Slow grader esp. for assignments. Study hard and memorize and you're set for an A. Would recommend this professor. She's awesome!
Ive taken three of her classes, shes really sweet and loves what she teaches. her quizes could be a little tough but exams are easy if u study.
the first 2 tests are super easy if you study and pay attention. the last 2 are rough and there's a lot of material to understand. quizzes are doable if you pay attention in class and review beforehand. reading the text is important as there are questions you have to turn in on test day. lectures are either interesting or boring, no in between
I've taken Anthro 1 and 2 with Chris and she is great! Very sweet professor who is passionate about Anthropology. Tests are straight to the point, she doesn't have time for tricks or hard questions. You definitely need to study, not that the material is hard, but rather because there is just a lot of it. Highly recommend, you can do it!
A very nice professor! She is very knowledgeable and makes an effort to learn your name. Make sure you read and show up for every class lecture as that is what is on the test! Something to note is that she is a slow grader, esp. in terms of assignments. Overall, she is a wonderful professor that really does care about her students.
this class is actually not easy, especially when you get towards the end because there's just so much to memorize. but - you actually get something out of the class. physical anthro is actually really interesting and she is a good lecturer!!
Cultural anthropology is not a subject that I wanted to take but it ended up being fun. There were 4 mini projects, one short research paper and presentation, 3 quizzes and 3 exams, and 9 group assignments that made up your grade. She is really nice and will help you with any questions you have. Her class was low stress and easily manageable.
She's a very approachable professor and her assignments are far from difficult. 3 exams, 3 quizzes, some mini projects, a research paper... the usual honors workload. Shes an easy grader and there are many extra credit opportunities. This class was a gem. Interesting subject as well!
For an online GE class, I thought she expected a little too much in terms of difficulty and how she graded the homework. It wasn't HARD but it definitely wasn't something you could slip through and get an A easily. I'm hardworking but I definitely thought this was going to be one of my "easy classes" and it wasn't. Treated it like major prep course
Take Professor Loeffler! She is amazing and you're going to love her lectures. She is very knowledgable about Anthropology, and it is very interesting to listen to her traveling experience. Take good notes of lectures, then you will be fine! Some very interesting projects towards the end of the semester too. They're not hard at all - don't worry :)
For students who want to take online class, it's one of the hardest classes I've done for GE. Test is VERY heavy. There is a study guide though it doesn't really help you organize ideas. There are various demanding assignments which require you to become "a little anthropologist." I wouldn't take this professor again.
First, she is a very TOUGH GRADER. This applies to assignments and exams both. Second, there are tons of assignments every week requiring you to be fully understanding EVERY SINGLE DETAIL despite of G.E. Third, she doesn't often check her e-mail, so average response time is 2-3 days which is pretty much annoying! Overall... terrible.
Took Anthro 1 (online) and 2 from her and honestly loved them both so much. Super easy classes, just take notes and the class is an easy A. Loeffler is an awesome professor and really cares about her students. Both classes only have 1 assignment per week and they take 10 minutes to do. Pretty test heavy, but they're easy to get A's on.
this class is just heavy on information, which makes it a little hard. But she is AMAZING and she's literally there if u need anything. No homework. You have to do 3 3age article analysis which is time consuming as hell. And you this 3 times throughout the semester. One 7-10 page term and u give a presentation on it- really easy grader. Test basic
I took online class of ANTH 1 and it was very hard. First she was a tough grader. Professor points out every detail of papers and assignments, but there is no much feedback on it. Assignments take a long time and demanding. The worst thing was tests. Tests were incredibly heavy and asking a lot of essay questions within an 1 hour 15 min.
Toughest grader I've ever met! Considering the subject, not familiar to all or rather confusing, YOU'LL LOSE POINTS A LOT unless you're perfect (answer professor wants to hear). You need to read a lot for homework to fully understand the field of Anth because that's the way to answer questions. Tests are extremely heavy. I wouldn't recommend class
Very caring and really tries to get to know you! She knows so much and her lectures are easy to follow. I recommend recording her lectures/typing them in class bc she covers a LOT. Don't buy the textbook, all the tests/quizzes are based off her lectures. You have the whole semester to do a research paper but its only 7 pgs.
She knows both what to teach and how to teach, which is... rare. Shes pretty cool. She didnt mark us off for coming in late, and genuinely wanted us to succeed. I met with her during office hours and she was very helpful. This was honestly one of the least stressful classes Ive taken and I would take her class again in a heartbeat.
She's really nice, but such a tough grader! Even if you technically got the answer right, she'll count it wrong because it wasn't exactly what she wanted. Tests all from lectures. Lectures are super long and she talks fast so a I recommend typing notes. There's two papers, and her instructions are very unclear, even with asking questions.
Professor Loeffler knows her stuff. Really interesting class, and even though it was a lot of work, I learned a lot and all the work I had to put into my papers was totally worth it. She had us do 9 article reviews-3 due the day of each test. So don't procrastinate because you may not have time to cram studying and writing/analyzing.
type notes of her lectures almost word for word and you'll be good for the test. she usually runs over class time by a few minutes bc she has a lot of info she puts into her lectures, but she's amazing! more than happy to explain anything u don't understand. her assignments and tests are very straightforward
Took ANTH1 w/ Gabriella the semester before. Most of the knowledge stuck with me going into this class. Prof Loeffler is a super nice grader. There's a lot of labs so do not miss more than one class. Tests follow her study guides closely. Only thing that took effort was the primate report (b/c I chose to watch the movie instead of going to the zoo)
Took the online class and expected an easy A, but definitely not. Way harder online than the reviews about in-person lectures. Quizzes were difficult and not word-for-word or even similar, so you should really read the material. 3 Article Analysis assignments where you read long research papers and write responses, but these were easily graded.
I took this class as a stem-major student but taking prof. Loeffler's class has been an excellent experience. Lectures are informative and well-organized. The research paper is very helpful to get a more comprehensive view of one's area of interest in cultural anthropology.
A professor dedicated to the field, articulated materials, open to questions is worth to take her curriculum.
This is the rudest professor I have ever had or known. Will completely blame everything on you, even if they are in the wrong. Is every unorganized with her work and needs to get it together. Since the pandemic and being online professors should understand how hard it is on students to actually learn. She does not teach well what so ever, STAY AWAY
DON'T take her class. I took Antro1 Lab and it's like I'm taking 4 unit class. There is too much work for 1 unit. I took antro1 from a different Professor and I got an A. The other Professor never asked about the human skeleton and this prof. want us to memorize the human skeleton. This class is so hard.
This is the worst professor I had at IVC. She is unorganized and does not teach well. You have to teach yourself everything. Blames the students for not doing the work which was not the visible on the dashboard, the grade book, or the module. Does not let students get a second chance on anything.
It is not worth taking this course: there are no lectures videos nor online meetings. There are just powerpoint slides that you have to just read. Not even organized as the notes often have typos. She also blamed the students for not making assignments visible on canvas. Choose another GE to take; there are easier HUM courses you can take at IVC.
She makes anthropology fun and has a love for the subject matter that shows in her online lectures. Nine essays from peer reviewed journals, and a 10 page research paper, along with four tests and 8 quizzes. Plenty of opportunity to earn an A if one stays on pace. Slack off, and you will not get the A as she is tough, but a very fair grader.
anthro was interesting but she made me dread it. takes forever to grade. not lenient and will blame you for tech problems. all she gives you is PowerPoint slides in which you have to read them and basically teach yourself. There were a lot of typos and super wordy. test was okay, just make sure to read the slides. 2 easy but tedious projects
I see some ppl didn't enjoy Anth 1, but it's an easy A if you just read a chapter/wk. Her PPT has detailed notes. Quizzes are kind of uneven in diff & stressful, but tests are almost 100% straight forward. She gives about 5 to 6 EC questions out of 75 in tests. She has office hours over Zoom, and she's nice. On the other hand, she's a slow grader.
This is my first review on here because I'm so pissed. This class is made ridiculously hard with very ill intentions. You can't go back and change answer on quizz/exam. Short-answers are thrown in all over the place making it super tough to manage time. Exams include stuff that was NOT mentioned in lecture. GPA is 3.8 and expecting a C. AVOID HER.
This professor is great! Funny too. You are in college so read the material. Take copious notes as they are allowed on tests. Three page essays on nine journals sounds tough but the outline is simple. Just do the work. Just do the reading. The final essay is also not hard and she grades all essays fairly. Learned a lot too. No whining. Just do it
Her class is kinda hard for me because I have to do a lot of reading and take notes for everything I read. But I learned a lot from this class.
Not recommended if you looking for engeneering class or ganeral eduction i prefer to take diffrend becuase the class is too hard and the quiz just 15 minute for 10 hard question and even if you andwer right it will be down and get lower grad this class for 500 point if you lucky get 250 point!!
Loeffler was amazing!! her class is incredibly difficult but the material is interesting and it's a good option if you need honors credits. lots and lots of writing in this class.
I wouldnt say shes a bad teacher I found the material interesting but shes a extremely tough grader. For a 1 unit class this class is way too much work. Youll feel your in a 3-4 unit class. If you take her anth 1l class make sure to study for the bone quiz because its the easiest part of this class. Dont miss a the lab, no makeups
Prof. Loeffler is a great professor and cares about her students. She is easy to approach outside the class and willing to help you with any questions. But her classes are definitely not easy. If you want an easy A without paying effort, all her classes are not for you. Her exams are all based on her lectures, literally word by word.
Not good
Anthro 1H is probably one of the hardest classes I've ever taken. It's a lot of memorizing and writing so be prepared. But if you really want to learn about this subject I have to recommend Loeffler. She's an incredible lecturer and has a passion for this material. I couldn't think of a better professor to teach this subject.
An amazing teacher. She is too qualified for the job, she deeply understands what she talks about and teaches it in a manner that makes people who took the class for just the credit and not the deep understanding begin too enjoy the class. Low amounts of homework which is perfect for my schedule. All you need too do really is review notes for exams
The professor was very helpful though it was 100% online. Unlike her past online courses, she made narrating videos to cover every chapter & her PPT; quizzes were def easier w/ less questions; test guides covered well, so no surprises there. Archaeology is her specialty, so if you liked Loeffler in Anthro 1/1H/1L/2, I strongly recommend Anthro 9.
Managed to squeeze out an A, but barely. There are 10 papers, 3 tests, and a PowerPoint presentation. The lectures are a little boring, maybe because it was at 8 AM, but they're vital because everything she talks about is on the tests and quizzes. I think she understands how difficult the workload is because the grading of papers is very lenient.
Do not take her class! You have to read lots of material. The exam is super hard and material are irrelevant. You will read very difficult essay and write many paper. She is very slow to grade the homework! Have to wait a long time to see the results, very unprofessional! It is very difficult to communicate with her. NO One in our class like her!
We have quizzes every week and she makes questions that we didn't cover from her lecture.
Taking ANTH1 online, this class is very hard for a GE class. I would highly recommend avoiding this class. Tests and quizzes have questions that aren't on the lectures, and are extremely difficult. Majority of the questions are written responses and not multiple choice.
She frequently shows up to class up to ten minutes late and then proceeds to keep us 10-15 minutes over. She refuses to post any lecture slides online but her tests are based entirely off of them. For the last test she didn't even address 2/3 of the chapters. Horrific at grading in a timely manner. Wildly unprepared, unprofessional, and immature.
Tbh I think her class was incredibly fair. I had my priorities elsewhere and I would legitimately only read the test for a few hours the night before the tests being sleep deprived and I managed to come out with a B in the class. Her tests were very fair for what she asked. Only thing is that she takes a long time to update grades.
I thought she was really cool as a person, but good luck guessing what's on her exams. She doesn't post lecture slides and the content is wild. There's a reason so many recent reviews are from people who got Bs. Then again, I haven't gotten above a B in any life science in the history of my education
Exceptional teacher
not a good teacher
Honestly she's a pretty nice person, but her online class is really something you want to avoid. Very strict grading policies and paired with few opportunities for grades in GENERAL (few assignments) this can get VERY stressful VERY quickly. I'm sure her in person courses are better, but the online curriculum, for lack of better words, sucks.
Take her class in person!! She offers extra credit and is willing to work with you if you are there regularly. Overall a great professor and knows a lot about the subject. Pay attention to the lectures and take notes because that is the important material that will show up on the test.
She is very passionate about what she teaches, which makes her lectures fun to listen to. You should expect lots of reading and writing assignments such as analyzing scholarly articles and a final research paper. Quizzes and exams should not be a problem as long as you study.
too much work for a one unit class. exams are unpredictable. also just plain rude. do not take unless u have to.
She's good at explaining the material, but this is the most homework I've gotten from any professor. Half of my work from this semester has been from her class. Worst part is she makes it seem like it is the standard for college. Every week there is either a quiz, exam, essay due, or a combination. Don't take her honors class if you can avoid it.
Loeffler's ANTH1H class is challenging but engaging. The content is dense, requiring diligent studying and note-taking. However, her lectures are informative and her grading is fair. Using resources like ChatGPT, quizard, and Unstuck study can really help with prep.
Loeffler is a good professor, and her class is easy. I don't know about her other classes, so I speak for Anthro 9. If you cannot pass this class, it is your issue, not her course material. You will do weekly quizzes, four assignments that require research, four exams, midterms, and a final. She gives you the book. Take her course she is nice.
Professor Loeffler provided tons of prep before quizzes/exams and gave out weekly assignments that were interesting to learn about. Provides lots of slideshows and lectures regarding the information that will be used on exams. Very quick to respond to messages and is a great professor.
very poor communication, dismissive in emails. very late grading I had to ASK for my assignments and exams to be graded and at some point reached out to dept of anthro for grades because she didn't grade anything until a few days before drop with W date. grading is harsh/inconsistent. not worth the headache
She is a very unforgiving professor. Despite her extremely strict classroom policies, she posts lectures late (often less than a week before exams) and is horrific at grading on time and providing solid feedback. Be prepared to lose sleep and put in immense effort if you'd like an A (keep in mind you could do both and still end up with a B)!
