Very good teacher. He has you do an online quiz for every weeekend, but they are pretty easy.

he was decent. just study before tests and do little online quizes and you'd do okay

Professor Marshall was the man. The class was easy. He was really funny and very approachable about anything. He made the hour and a half long class go by fairly fast. Awesome professor. I highly highly recommend Professor Marshall.

Great Teacher Power Points every day well written out and covers things very well. Loves questions, make sure you pay attention in class or tests can get hard. but by far my favorite class of the semester.

He's extremely helpful, and will lead you in the right direction for tests and quizzes. All his study guides are exactly what will be on the test, and his written tests are really easy. His online tests however, aren't hard but are made extremely easy if you go to class everyday and read the text book.

LOVED this class. Very easy, very fun. Did not need to do more than skim the text book. Never fell asleep in class. He lets you have your computer... but he is more interesting then facebook. Take him if you get the chance, he is awesome.

Very interesting class and he makes it easy to follow along. Will always answer your questions or help you whenver you need it. Also puts all his lectures on a powerpoint online so even if you miss a day you can catch up on what you missed. Marshall is tight you can't go wrong with him!

Very entertaining and mixed in plenty of humor as well as including a little football during the fall semester. Fun to just talk to and joke around with. Just finished my first full year and he has been my favorite professor for the 36 credits I've taken.

Funny guy. He is really out there and loves what he does and knows a ton about his discipline. He really gets you interested in history. The two hour class goes by faster than most of my 55 min classes.

Chris's lectures are pretty relaxed. It's just him talking about the topic. His assignments are easy, as long as you write something and don't sound like you have no idea what you're talking about you'd be fine. I got 100% on all of my assignments. The midterm and final are take home, but you really have to sit down and think about them.

Chris Marshall makes class fun and interesting. His lectures are interesting and fun and his love for history rubs off on every student and he is the reason i plan to take more history classes while I'm at Stout.

His lectures were very long, but he clearly knew what he was talking about. If you show up and listen you will do fine, mid-term and final were papers so no in class tests. Quiet a few papers, not all long though.

Chris was an awesome teacher and he was so nice to his students. Assigned a one question quiz and a short (1-2 page) writing a week. Lectures weren't awful to sit though and he made them entertaining. Takes attendance everyday and likes it when students participate.

I would recommend Dr. Marshall to anyone, he is so laid back and is the best prof I have had yet. He likes class participation and his lectures are not bad to sit through. I would recommend him to anyone needing a credit in his type of field.

He gives a lot of papers to do but they are quick and easy to do. Big midterm and final paper between 6-8 pages each. A few easy quizzes.

Grades more on short writing assignments and papers. There's 2 big papers and some other Bi-weekly short essays. He is not a tough grader to get a B, but if you want to get an A you have to put in the work. Daily lectures which honestly aren't too bad and seem to go by quickly.

A short writing assignment almost every week are not too hard if you follow the questions he gives. Gives great feedback and easy to talk to about any questions you may have about the class. Two big exams- not hard if you take the time and effort into them. His lectures are great and really enjoys a good class discussion

If you have to take any history classes I would recommend him for every single one of them. He is very passionate about history which makes the lectures very interesting. He made me actually want to come to class every single day.

Amazing teacher! A lot of reading, not so much from the textbook but more from lecture notes. I took this class online, and really wished I had the chance to listen to his lectures (as I think they would be interesting)

He is awesome , super funny and personally his lectures aren't boring. Even though I am a history major I still think he makes lectures interesting. I would definitely take more of his classes!

He's a nice guy. I had him for Honors Age of Revolutions, and he constantly praised how smart we were. We had weekly short writing assignments, but those were easy. The midterm and final were hard if you had a tendency to dose off in class like I do, and you are only allowed to miss 3 classes. Otherwise, it was a nice class.

Also took him for Age of Revolutions and loved the course! Chris is an excellent professor who has passion for what he teaches, and who cares about students' success. Would absolutely recommend him for any class he teaches!

I had Dr. Marshall for Modern Asian History, and he was great! Well-informed, funny, and very understanding. I would absolutely take him again!

He is very loud and starts off the class very off topic, but he quickly gets into the materials. He sometimes gets off topic and it can be very funny how far off topic he goes.

Dr. Marshall is an excellent professor. His lectures can go on interesting yet unrelated tangents, and its funny when he realized he went from talking about post-war prosperity to stealing the corpse of Vladimir Lenin and operating it like a ragdoll. No quizes or tests, but there are at least 2 4-5 page papers. You won't regret taking him!

Chris knows his stuff, a funny professor which is rare for history professors, and grades fairly, showing up to class and doing the work gets you a good grade.

chris is an amazing professor every lecture is well thought out and explained well! i went to his class for half the semester before realizing i can do all the work and still pass without showing up. as long as you do the assignments you will get an A. no questions i fully recommend him.

Chris was a riot. He was always full of energy so early in the morning. He led very good discussions and his lectures were always engaging. He went off on a bunch of tangents, but you would never miss any material. He's pretty liberal, so if you're a conservative, you won't like him. Had him for HIST 360, Honors Asian History

Had Chris for APSS 301 and he was a great professor! Very understanding and caring about stresses and workloads students have to deal with. He's definitely wild but very smart as well. Learned a lot in the class and glad I had him.

I have disliked every history class I've taken. After taking this class, Dr. Marshall has kept me engaged and enjoyed attending class every time. Short writing assignments weekly that can be completed within a day if need be.

Dr Marshall is very fun in lectures and very knowledgeable in most areas that you may ask him. Chris is very passionate and knowledgeable about what he teaches, which makes his classes so much more interesting whether you like history or not. This course was fairly easy as far as homework goes, just a few papers as well as a midterm, research, and final paper, all of which you could get by with just material from his lectures.

One of my favorite professors. He is extremely knowledgeable in his field. Absolutely hilarious, made me laugh each class period. Only a few 1-2 page papers required for this class, and two 3 page papers for each exam. Attendance not mandatory. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Chris is an amazing professor. He is nice, respectful, and very easy to talk to or get a hold of. Sometimes he goes on short rants or stories but they're always related to the topic and personally I find them helpful to understand the material. His class is mostly lectures but coming from someone who hates lectures, I find them really interesting.

Professor Marshall makes lectures engaging and enjoyable. With few assignments and flexible grading, the class is manageable. Attending helps, but isn't required. Unstuck study was a lifesaver for study prep.
