easy A, more of a creative writing class than eng 1.. do the readings and all the homework and your fine. homework= lots of essay writings from the reading, and a final paper. the final test is a writing assignment (at least when i took the class)

One of my all-time favorit teachers. Very easy to get an A, if you do your homework. During class you sit in a circle and discuss the homework for that day. There's a writing assignment for almost every class, but you only have to write your opinion= easy

By far one of the best English teachers. Grades easy, great personality, and is very fair. Highly recommended if you just want to get to the next level and learn a lot with not too much pressure.

Meeks is the best english teacher one could ever take at SMC. He is so helpful and all his class consists of is sitting around in a circle and having discussions regarding the book. Homework everynight, but its very easy.

Mr. Meeks is a fantastic teacher. He has a gift in choosing interesting noves for his class. He is also very easy on his students. After all this I can say that he is by FAR the best teacher at SMC. I wish I can have him for all my classes. GREAT MAN

professor meeks was so enthusiastic about literature and he chose great novels and pieces so that his students can experience his joys as well. all the students enjoyed his easy-going class and his cheerful presence. it's very easy!!!!!!

Mr.Meeks is a really nice guy. Class is boring thoe. We sit in a circle and discuss the books everyday. You have homework everyday, that he spends a lot of time giving you feed back on. He cares about his students and is very helpful.

Mr. Meeks is a fabulous teacher. It's obvious that he loves what he's doing. He teaches at a number of other schools and is talks about the novel he's writing. He's very helpful and friendly, and gets to know each student individually. Highly recommend his class to anyone.

Its a very easy class.. You read two books and you have 2 essays. No tests at all! He gives homework everynight but its easy you just have to answer a few questions. He is very nice and lenient on grading. Easy A

He is easy going. He works with you. As long as you: show up to all of of his classes, turn in all the assignments (on time), you will definitly get an "A".

He's a very good teacher. He explains everything clearly. There are only two books to read and two take home essays. The books he picks are very interesting. Take his class. No one fails in this class!

I took him for English 1 and 2. He is very easy and understanding. Its all about your opinion. He makes going to class fun. Attendance is a big thing for him! Both classes were easy! Very good teacher!

he talks a lot, easygoing, doesn't require too much, but he does require everyone to speak up in every class. not hard on grading. i recommend him.

OMG, DONT FALL 4 WHAT ITS WRITTEN BELOW! I took this class and thought it'll be nice and easy.. but my g-d there isnt one class that u dont have assighment due. he asigns two books to read, and theyre truley intresting thats teh only thing ive enjoyed so far, o and his grading is a bit hard.

Mr. Meeks is a nice and funny guy.He cares his students.But his class was really tough and all about frustration for me.I dont recommend his class to students who have dificulties with English.Definitely NOT an easy A.

not very easy for an international student if you're not super strong in Eng. But still possible to get A at the end. I had a hard time in the first place but i ended up with an A. Put your effort and show your sincerity to him. talk to him as much as possible and you'll get good help. figure out what he wants and you'll be fine. luv him!! fair

Best English teacher out there. Expects a lot from his students but it's because he wants his students to do well at the university they plan on transfering to. Do you all your HW and if you get stuck on anything, ask him. He's there for you!

I currently he have Professor Meeks as my English 1 teacher. He is by far one of my most favorite teachers this quarter...only class i look forward too. Class fly's by. He does give hw everynight, but this is college. The hw doesnt ask for too much but does take some time to do. I highly recommend him as a teacher. He also gets to know his students

There are homeworks every session and they take time to do if you want a good grade. You can really learn a lot from him if you aren't strong in English. Take him if you really want to learn. If you want an easy A grade, I'd recommend taking an another professor.

GREAT TEACHER! There is homework everynight, but they're easy and they only take about an hour. If you do the work, you get an A. Group discussions every class. Times goes fast unless he is lecturing which only happened once !

Awesome person & author. Makes you do some real work but gives out great fiction to read. When you're done with his class you'll be analyzing & writing so well it should be criminal. He sticks it to you on MLA style & it sinks in, so you have to love him for helping you get your sh*t together. I participated & received an A, so can you. Thnx Chris!

disregard the dude two comments under me. hes a moron. PROFESSOR MEEKS IS AWESOME. I never got bored in his class. His homework is worth 40% of ur grade or something so make sure you do it, and make sure you write a lot to get a "+" on it. Make sure to get essays checked for grammar by ur friends.. and you should be good. Very down to earth guy.

FAVORITE TEACHER at smc! I took him twice.If you're shy, don't take his class bc every class is just sittin in a circle & talkin about the stories. He grades very very nicely. He is really interesting, extremly nice and funny. Do ALL hmrk and its an easy A. Just DO the hmrk! HIGHLY RECOMEND HIM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Meeks is great! He loves what he is teaching which makes what you're learning grow on you. 70% of the time I went to class we sat in a circle and talked about our thoughts. Do your homework or you will be very sorry. Other than that he is great and so was his class!

Professor Meeks helped me improve English a lot. It's not my first language, but instead of judging me and making things hard for me, he motivated me to do really great work. You have to do homework before every lesion, but if you do, and you do attend almost all the classes, he'll like you. Not hard to get an A if you just do your work!

He's fantastic! Very witty, and captivating. Interesting books to read. Be prepared to do the homework--it counts, but its interesting to write about the materiel, and he gives enourmous amounts of feedback. You will learn a lot! take him! He also gets the whole class into a circle and we all discussed everything together which was wonderful!

Best Professor I've ever had! 95% of the time we just sat in a circle and talked. It was the only class I looked forward to every time. Got an A. 4 essays, 1 quiz. The homework involves writing, but about your opinion. Highly recommend his class!!!

Amazing teacher, one of the best I've had at SMC. Lot's of discussions. Only 2 essays due for semester. Main thing is do ALL the homework and NEVER miss class as 50% of your grade is based on homework and attendance. Bec of that it's an easy A. He's very inspiring and cares deeply about his students and teaching. Definitely a MUST take professor.

Professor Meeks is a really fun, super laid back guy who genuinely cares about his students. There is a lot of homework, but the reading is enjoyable and interesting to discuss in class. If you're shy or struggle with grammar, I don't know that any literature class will be easy for you, but he's willing to help those in need of additional support.

Meeks is an AMAZING teacher! i took for eng1.discussed the book everyday so I could understand. hw was short,opinionated writing and some reading.pretty easy! very laid back,funny,and chill. easy grading system,accepted late hw for lower grade. about 4-5 essays, research project, highly recommend.

Great Professor. He teaches you alot. The readings are interesting. No test just homework writting about what we read. Two essays and a final research.I recommend him.

Honestly, he is easier than any other professors. He gives no lectures. Instead, there are class discussions, which you don't have to participate until he asks you. Easy class, but try to attend all the class meetings, because he takes roll. OH the best part, NO IN CLASS ESSAY!! except final.

Meeks is a very good teacher. Stop looking in these posts for "Easy A'", and "Doesn't take roll". You WILL LEARN HOW TO WRITE !!! I feel very confident going to the next level of college with the skills I've been taught in this class. We read and analyzed classic books, had discussions, learned how to write, and had fun. My favorite class yet !

He's not a terror teacher. Easy A. You read two books, and theres no test. You just come to class and discuss freely. The class goes according to the thoughts and answers of students. You have homework due every class. Its typical short essay homeworks. Your writing improves a lot! Grammar and attendant are key in this class!

Such a great professor and a really fun class! He is really supportive of your writing and he's always trying to get you to think outside of the box. Homework makes up the greatest portion in your grade, so it's CRUCIAL you do all assignments. If you do, and you show up to every class ON TIME, you're basically golden. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

This is by far one of the best english teachers I've ever had. This coming from someone who hated english. Meeks really opened my eyes to literature and help me find a haven in writing, especially in poetry. If you struggle or hate english I would recommend him. He isn't an easy A but as long as you're in class and to the HW you'll be fine.

This might be the best professor I've ever had. He makes sure that we cover everything we need to cover, but he also connects with the class in a way most teachers couldn't. He's honest and encouraging. If you're lucky enough to have him, do it!

I really had a lot of fun in his class. You mostly sit in a circle and discuss literature, which I loved. He chooses very different pieces of literature with many different themes. There is a lot of reading to do. There is something for everyone. He is laid back, honest, and has a great sense of humor. I would take his class again.

Great teacher! Most of the classes are group discussions about the stories that you're supposed to read. The material is very interesting and unique, explores many aspects of literature. If you like reading you'll love this class. You have to put effort into writing good papers, but he offers very clear guidelines on improvement.

Professor Meeks is a great professor. The class is spent discussing books you read in class, lots of writing, and talking about various subjects. He's funny and interesting. Your writing will improve in this class. Do all the homework, participate in class, and you will get an A. I loved this class, would absolutely take him again.

Professor Meeks is a really nice guy and a great option for a creative writing course. The class is very open for discussion, he doesn't really teach one way. There is a lot of busy work, but it's part of the course quite frankly, you will enjoy the busy work cause it helps hone your skills. The class was very straightforward and simple. Must take.

Took Meeks for both English 1 & 2. Coming from someone who went into SMC scared of taking English, TRUST ME AND TAKE HIM! He is by far the easiest and coolest prof at SMC. Super easy A if you just do your work. His philosophy is that he teaches students the way he wanted to be taught because he always hated English. He really made me love English!!

He's really chill and understandable. He does make you read a lot, and there is usually a homework assignment due every class, but the assignments aren't complicated. As long as you study for his test and participate you should be good.

You will have assignments to do often, but it's not hard. You will need to read the books and write about them. If you actually try + participate, especially on the research paper, you'll get an A. Great Professor

He is a passionate writer and knows what he is talking about. He is always in a good mood and will like you if you show that you really care! He gives always good feedback, 2 weeks late assignments, only three major tests. If you do bad in the three exams but always did your homework in time and attend class you will do really good.

Amazing Professor that really cares about his students. An A is very possible if you do your work and take the coursework seriously. Recipe for an A: Do all of your reading, turn in all home work in on time and if you have problems go to the tutoring lab.

Professor Meeks is a great writer and a good teacher. He grades harshly but he always gives a detailed explanation of what you did wrong. His goal is to make everyone a great writer. My writing has improved greatly since taking his class. You will have to put in more work, but it's definitely worth it.

People keep complaining about how hard this class is, which I do not understand. You do not want an English teacher that will be too easy because what is going to happen when you get into your upper division classes? You will not do well. Professor Meeks class has set me up to do very well in all my other classes that require essays. Amazing Guy!

A good choice if English isn't your strongest subject. Gives very clear instructions and guidelines, but he does assign a lot of reading and homework. As long as you do your work to the best of your ability you are likely to pass. He also gives great feedback on homework assignments, and using his advice does benefit your grade overall.

Professor was nice enough, interactive, and had clear grading rubrics. Gives feedback on every assignment. Made us pay 20 bucks for tickets to go watch a play in Pasadena. Yikes. There was one group project. Homework was assigned every time we met. There are nights with heavy reading. Some nights it was light reading. It fluctuates.

Professor Meeks is one of the nicest professors that one could take here at SMC. He's very passionate about literature. I would not recommend this class if you are looking for an easy A, because there is a lot of HW. However, he will give you feedback on everything that you do. I will admit, he's an extremely slow grader though.

Great professor for an entry english class. I took him in fall on zoom. Every class, he calls on all students to share what they think about the novel. Easy grader. Just follow his instructions and you will get an A. We wrote a research paper and our final was to write an essay. His zoom lectures were boring, as he talked too much.

Heavy workload, but it pays off! Thanks to his class, I was well prepared for my English 2 scholar course at SMC. I'm currently passing with a 100%, with comments praising my writing! I owe it all to Professor Meeks since he constantly goes over grammar rules and how to write good, coherent essays! A little boring but very knowledgeable.
