Chris taught me to enjoy math! He has an open door & will answer questions. He moves quickly and requires daily homework, but it keeps you on track.
Very funny and realistic man, but I think he doesn't connect that the students simply aren't as skilled with mathematics as he is. He's very quick, but too quick to keep up with, and even if you study his tests are very difficult. I think he just needs to slow down a bit - otherwise great guy.
fantastic so helpful
Chris could slow down a bit more while teaching, but I think the class is just fast-- he has to cover a ton of material over a very short quarter. His tests are hard, but he lets you use some notes for tests. Loved his understated humor and personality... a (shy-ish) weisenheimer.
Chris is a great teacher. His trig class was challenging and fun. His door was always open.
He is a fun and knowledgeable teacher.
Professor Milner is awesome. I've taken other math classes and no one compares. He is VERY good at explaining the material. He's tests are hard. Need to keep up on homework and weekend problems. Overall I would highly recommend this instructor, he's great!
Great teacher. Gives you lots of chances for points. While the test's are not easy (what math test is??), he doesn't try to trick you or put difficult equations on the test.
Good teacher: excellent listener and patient with questions. Fast-paced class makes for tough tests, but allows notes. And check out his bookstore, Vintage Books Mill Plain.
GOOD TEACHER BUT BORING
Very good at his job and totally willing to help. Uses his time to help his students succeed. He makes sure you get it.
Challenging, but you get what you put in. Very reasonable, if you make the effort. He will explain anything you need or do not understand. The best Math teacher I ever had.
This teacher rocks!
Good at explaining, available in office hours & helps out in the math tutoring center, patient if you're really trying, doesn't have time for slackers. A true Boy Scout. I would definitely take another class from him.
Easy to listen to if you ignore some of his jokes... Always willing to help and very understanding. Great at finding mistakes (especially his own).
very good
Awesome!
best math teacher i've ever had. he's very clear in his explanation.. tests aren't hard if you study, and he is very reasonable when it comes to grading homework and exams. i definitely recommend him!
Very very good. He tries to be clear. Homework nightly + weekend worksheet - but a reasonable amount. Plus it all counts toward your grade. Tests are OK, he permits a 3x5 card and he drops lowest grade. Best of all he fair and a nice guy!
Funny and very helpful. Is very good at explaining things. I hated Math but now I don't! (as much anyway).
Mr. Milner is by far the most helpful math teacher I've ever had. He is availble to help his students after class, and truly seems to care about their sucess. Awesome teacher!
BY FAR the best teacher i have EVER HAD!!! Mr. Milner ROCKS. He is VERY clear, VERY helpfull, and VERY interested in your personal success. Take any class you can from Mr. Milner!!
He is a great teacher. Don't talk in class he hates that, don't we all. Will take time to explain until you understand. Had fun.
Great teacher. I even rearranged my schedule just have him. He really cares that his students do well. I highly reccomend him for all math classes and especially 105, because he assigns daily algebra problems to get you ready for 106, so you haven't completley forgotten when you get there.

Very good teacher. He really helps you to understand the material and not be afraid of it.
Great Teacher, makes things totally understandable he teaches all math levels so if you get the chance he'll make math easy
kinda of annoying how he laughs at his own unfunny jokes, but oh well. overall a nice, helpful guy. offers assistance to those who struggle. tests are hard tho. tons of homework.
he is a very clear and understandable teacher. requires daily homework but just gives you points for doing it, it adds up to help your grade out in the end. really understands the material and is always willing to go over a problem in class. tests are not to bad and allows note cards on test and drops lowest score...overall a very fair teacher
Great teacher! I have never had such a great and thorough explaining math teacher before! He is very nice and never gives you weird looks for asking stupid questions. I LOVED HIM!! Highly recommended for anyone with trouble in math!
Milner is probably the most desired teacher out of all the math professors at Clark. His classes seem to fill up the fastest because everyone prefers him. He's fun and friendly, and very helpful. He is also very into using graphing calculators, and he explains how to do a lot of different math equasions using calculators, which is also helpful.
He is very helpful. He is good at explaining and knows his stuff. Its all straight forward. Tests resemble the worksheets alot, and the worksheets themselves are fairly easy. Highly recommend him as a teacher.
Incredible teacher :) Definitely the best math teacher imaginable. I was forced to drop College Algebra last quarter since I was failing so bad. Someone recommended Milner to me and it was the best choice I have ever made to retake the class. I received an A and I am extremely happy I would recommend him to anyone.
he is a seriously incredible teacher..i took calculus 1 and 2 during high school year with him. it might of been very frustrating class if i didnt take that classes with him. he helped me alot through courses! his tests are fairly easy if you actually study and go to class. amazing teacher.simple words.
Before Mr. Milner I had terrible grades in math and just could not understand it. The way he explains things are crystal clear. If you have questions he always addresses them, even if the same one you've asked a million times! He never made me feel stupid for asking so many questions. He has a great sense of humor too!
Best Teacher. Period.
Mr. Milner is an excellent math teacher. I am a student who used to cry, read it, cry over math homework. I have always hated math. This teacher makes it easy to understand math. He offers so many opportunities to get points it is hard to fail this class. He offers 3x5 notecards for the tests. Great teacher. Very willing to help and explains well.
He is an AWESOME teacher. He always takes the time to answer the questions of students who have needed help, and he explains the material very well. He allows notecards on tests and even a sheet of paper for the final! If you need a math teacher, look no further.
I can't say enough good things about Milner. His methods are extremely thorough and is great about answering questions. NEVER makes you feel stupid. Very respectful, low key, down to earth. I never liked math before. Now I do! I'm going away to school and I wish I was staying so I could continue my math courses with him. Just a fantastic teacher.
Milner is an amazing professor!i took the same course with a different teacher and was doing so bad I had to drop the class. So i retook it a year later with milner, and am i ever glad i did!i passed class with a B cause the final killed me. but if you do well on the tests and final, you for sure will pass. and be sure to turn in the extra credit! :
Excellent teacher, really cares about helping the students and making learning a positive process, not a painful one.
HE is the best math teacher I have ever had in my whole life!!! He is very humorous well he thinks he is lol. He goes over the HW after every night which is very helpful to student who struggle with math. he wants to help you:) If you have the chance take him, he explains everything easy, tests are easy, final was alright lots to learn.
I had him for college algebra MATH (111) and calculus 1 Math(151) and he is the best math eacher ever! He made me enjoy math!
Easily, obviously, and most likely the best teacher in the entire school. If you have a chance to take a math class with Chris Milner, you would literally be mentally retarded not to take the opportunity. His best classes that he teaches includes but is not limited to Intermediate-College Algebra, Trigonometry, and Calculus. Needs a raise!
be honest and do the work; he wants to help you, and he will.
Chris is a very pleasant instructor and very helpful, comes in early to help those who need it. Tough concepts and very fast paced during summer. I had difficulty keeping up because I needed more time for the concepts to sink in. I did better than I thought I would but was confused for most of the quarter.
Wonder teacher. Very clear and helpful. Would recommend this class for anyone that has a hard time with math. Be ready to do a lot of homework. Come to class everyday, do your homework and you will be fine.
Not even Milner could make me enjoy math, but he was the best math instructor I've had since high school. I took his 7AM Trig class last Spring and barely remember it; I practically slept through it and managed to get a B...but Milner is a very pleasant and helpful instructor. Makes a lot of dumb jokes which actually brighten your day. Haha. :)
Chris is, by far, the best math teacher I have had. In my opinion, he does an excellent job of making sure he is clear and skips no steps in his process, making it very easy to follow along. He made Calc 2, which is supposed to be the hardest in the calculus sequence, a breeze to get through. Overall, just a great teacher.
If you have the opportunity to take one of his classes, you won't regret it. He goes through the material thoroughly and takes time to answer all your questions. As far as the tests go, they really do represent the material that is gone over in the class, so while attendance isn't mandatory, you won't do well if you miss class.
Best math teacher out there. He uses Blackboard.com which is great all the notes in class are saves to blackboard so you can look it up whenever you need to.
Calculus 1 spring 2010, great prof, wish i could take calc 2-4 with him too. if you have a choice, choose Milner.
I wish he had been my 089 teacher I think I would have done much better. He really does care & wants his students to do well. I dislike math but he actually makes me want to learn it. I would take another class from Milner any day.
I think hes a good teacher, but his teaching style & my learing just didnt work good together. He uses black board allot which is nice if you can not make it to the class. He does explain things well but i felt sometimes when i asked a questing & didnt quite understnd it i felt he kind of got annoyed but maybe it was me. good teacher tho :)
What can I say? I love his class. Chris is very helpful and does a fantastic job of explaining how to do the problems. I like that he uses blackboard for his lecture notes, it's helpful when your notes are not so clear you can go back & see it step by step again. Wish he had been my teach for all my math classes. TAKE HIS CLASS!!
Wonderful Teacher. Chris is engaging and organized. He gives clear lectures and answers any questions you have without embarrassing you. He communicates expectations and and provides copies of class notes on blackboard. Grading is quite generous (he will throw out your lowest test problem) and you receive immediate feedback on tests.
Prof.Milner is a very skilled teacher. Not only does he clearly convey and teach basic math concepts but he has a little bit of fun doing it too. Another aspect of his teaching methods I found preferable is his wise use of class time =).I won't sit here and glorify him...but if you have the chance to take him , then do so =).
I switched math classes just so I could have Chris as my instructor. Patient and talented teacher, he knows his stuff & he wants his students to do well. Wish he was going to teach Statistics.
Wow, gotta answer the other post. Yeah, his jokes are silly, but he's patient and sometimes too tolerant of the people that want to leave & return 5 times & disrupt class. Milner is great at explaining the material and always available to help outside of class.
I had to drop College trig the semester before be cause my teacher was just memorize, memorize, memorize. But then I took Milner and he actually made the concepts easy to remember because he made me understand how to find them by using the tools I had learned previosly. Excellent instructor. Probably best in the entire math department at clark.
funny. not brutal like a lot of math teachers but i dont really think a prof should be out to fail you.... so take him.
Nice, jolly guy. Loves his job. Good at communication. Clear expectations. I took Trigonometry in a summer quarter, I don't really recommend it! It's far too hard of a class to go through in one month less time than normal. I like math, and I would have liked it more had it not been a summer class (my bad). Overall good!
Great teacher...and so easy to learn from him!!
Attendance isn't mandatory as long as you turn in each day's homework which is mandatory. Is a nerd, but has a good sense of humor. The class was fun and fairly easy because he spent time and explained what needed to be explained
Extremely helpful teacher with a sense of humor, which makes the class to come to. Assigns enough to help you learn the topic, but not too much so that you don't spend too much time on homework. I would recommend him over all math professors I ever had!
Always tries to grade each test by 9pm the same day the test was taken. Can be pretty funny at times. Doesn't like to give extra credit (usually only two opportunities to earn extra credit during the quarter). He knows his subject well and teaches the class extremely well. DEFINITELY TAKE HIS CLASS IF YOU CAN!
I like the way that he teaches and makes things more clear and wish that he was teaching 093 in the summer. Quite possibly the best math teacher that I have had
VERY helpful professor. Always show's two or more different routes in understanding the equation. Friendly and approachable. Definitely recommended! :)
I really enjoyed taking his math class. I feel that he was very clear and easy to understand with his lecture using different ways to do the problem. I also really liked his use of moodle for posting class lecture notes and resources. I highly recommend taking his math classes if you have the chance.
Took Mr. Milner for 3 quarters. (091-093-Trig) Why? because I felt confident that he could teach me. I HATE MATH. He used 5 colored dry erase markers to explain steps. Wants his students to be successful. Locally raised. zero ego. humble, helpful, fair, clear, and supportive. Take him and you'll see what I mean.
He's a great teacher. Very Helpful, never makes you feel dumb for asking a question. I really liked the way he explains things
Chris was helpful and made the work interesting and easy. He made sure each person understood all the homework and problems he was currently explaining.
great teacher easy tounder stand jokes a lot (not that funny) have homework daily but it a math class what d you expect
Great teacher. Calculus is hard, but Chris trys every thing to help you get it. Lots of homework and a weekend online quiz every week. Never makes you feel dumb no matter the question.
Chris uses his note application effectively making it quite easy to follow his lectures. HOMEWORK and quizzes are assigned regularly. HE tries to provide as much education as he can within a class period to those who care but never refused to answer questions. OH hes also a fan of humor. OVERALL a very likable individual and a qualifying professor.
He is an amazing teacher! Always ready to help. Responds to emails and always sending to make sure we get our work done. He also is easy going person but wants you to do well in his class. Best math teacher ive had!
One of the best instructors I've known. Had him for 2 quarters so far, going on 3. Funny guy, great prof, and can relate to just about everybody. Also is by far without a doubt the clearest instructor I've ever had, considering he's teaching us calculus. Puts ALL other math professors I've had to shame! Take him, you won't regret it.
Not enough good things to say about Chris Milner. The best math teacher EVER! It was such a relief to have a teacher that you can understand clearly and enjoy being in class! HW is daily and is collected which I really liked, he uploads the days notes on moodle asap and grades uber quick. Looking forward to having him again in future classes A++++
Excellent instructor. I give the "easiness" level a half mark because the work wasn't too easy or difficult. I was also excited when I saw he did calculus classes as I am guessing I'm probably going to need a quality instructor to learn it. Highly recommend.
Best teacher in Math I ever had. Home work mandatory. He cares whether you get or not and is easy to talk to. Great Hawaiian shirts.
Excellent teacher! Easily the best math teacher I've had. Explains the material well and doesn't throw you curve balls on tests. Funny guy, fair grading, take his classes if you are able to!
Best math teacher i've ever had. highly recommended for any math class
Took him for College Algebra. Made class fun and learning easy. Understood material well due to style and methods of teaching. Would recommend to anyone. Great math teacher who understands complications people face and is thorough in material. Turn around time on assignments and exams is very quick.
Fabulous teacher. Amazing...can't say enough good about him. He's clear, he's compassionate, and he clearly wants everyone to be successful.
By far my all-time favorite math teacher! His lectures, homework, and tests are not that difficult. Great sense of humor and obnoxious hawaiian shirts! Took him all year last year for the calculus sequence. If you wanna pass math even if you hate it with a passion, I would strongly recommend him if you got the chance.
GREAT professor. He's clear with each step of a problem, not to mention he's an incredibly funny guy. There's homework worth a point each, but if you do it, you will get the concepts. I would take him again if I could. By far my favorite math professor at Clark.
BEST math teacher I have EVER had! For the first time, I understand math! It was even, dare I say, fun! He relates the concepts in a real world fashion and makes the experience enjoyable. ^_^
Wonderful class. Attendance not mandatory and notes are available online! If you are in class concepts are explained very clearly with great examples. Very small amount of daily homework and covers exactly what's on the tests! Take Milner if you have the chance!
I have had Chris for multiple classes, and he is my favorite math teacher at Clark. He is a complete math nerd, and it shows. Highly recommend!
I have had Chris for several quarters now and consider him in the top three best teachers I've ever had. He's not easy but he wants you to learn it. If you want to learn calc. this is your guy. Be prepared for a lot of home work but if you do the work you will get it and he will help.
Great teacher great guy. Not easy but he will teach you how to do what he gives you and doesn't expect anything unreasonable.
Nice teacher, good explanations. Hard tests, but you are always eligible for partial credit on exams if work is shown. If given the chance I would take him again This was college trig summer quarter. Got a B.
best math teacher I have had! all his notes are very clear and he made me understand the concept in just a few days.he is the best math teacher at Clark. i highly recommend taking his class if you ever get the chance.
Awesome Teacher! Great in-class examples later posted online. Took Calc 1, 2, and 3 with him. Take math with Chris if you can.
Fantastic instructor. Lessons are thorough and easy to follow. He makes connections between class work and real applications, takes time to explain processes, and grades quickly and fairly. Expect nightly homework that will reinforce the day's lecture and count towards your grade. Tests aren't hard if you've been in class, just show your work.
I wish i had this teacher instead of my curent one. The notes were heplfull and the whole structure of the class with pre tests and post tests hepled me learn the material.
Chris is a great professor! I had him for my first quarter at Clark for college algebra and trig during the summer (yes I did both). He was very kind, funny, and helpful. He cares about everyone. He lets you take online quizzes but very little extra credit. You gotta work in his class, but hey it's math. You learn a lot! Totally recommend him!
Chris is the best professor I've had so far, I have him for college trig. He loves math, he's very organized and hes very good at teaching the material. There are weekly quizes online to overview what we learned as online reviews before tests. We get homework almost daily but its not too much. Extra credit is limited.
Chris is an awesome teacher. He teaches the best way to solve the problem, not the way the book necessarily says. He isn't easy, but his homework is far from hard. He is also always willing to meet with his students. I highly recommend taking him for any math class you would need to take at Clark!
Chris is the best math teacher I've ever had. He is very clear about the material and is very approachable for when you need help. You can tell he is very passionate about what he teaches and cares deeply about his students and their success. Homework is assigned daily but it's never a terrible amount of work.
Chris Milner is an awesome math teacher. Spends the first part of class going over hw from the night before, and still has time for awesome examples that help you understand calculus. I had him for trig, and now for calc 1. Tests are very similar to online reviews.
One of greatest math teachers. I recommend him to everyone. He gives homework every night (Not hard, just allot of problems). He's willing to work with any student during office hours and goes over the homework from the previous night for about 20 minutes every day. His tests are challenging sometimes because there are no retakes or notes allowed.
Best Math Teacher at Clark
Great Teacher. Uploads all lecture notes online in .pdf for everyone to use. Uses online quizzes and review problems. He is generous grader. Assigns daily homework, but not in unmanageable amounts. Wish he was available for the entire Calc sequence.
One of the best math professors I've had in a long time. Lessons are interesting and very clear. Required homework every night. Nothing too bad though and it helps with tests. There are no quizzes but tests after each chapter. Textbook is required. Extra credit opportunities are offered.
He's a nice guy, but the speed of his class is rather annoying. He responded with a lot of "go to the help center." Hw isn't hard, but it can get frustrating. He can get rather condescending which annoyed me a lot. But if you hate online classes, drop immediately. I passed, but it was challenging, really challenging.
Chris was very helpful, posts notes on Canvas. You want to take his class.
Milner is one of the best math professors I have had at Clark. Lectures are interesting and he is very clear. Weekly online quizzes; two attempts. Exams can be tough if you don't study or understand the chapter. Everyday homework that isn't hard and is graded on having it complete.
Probably the best professor I've had over my 6 quarters taken at Clark! He is amazing at explaining steps and very tech Saavy, he makes the class enjoyable.
Mr. Milner is a great professor. His lectures are simple and straight to the point. If you don't understand something, he is very patient with questions and does his best to answer them. The only down side to his classes is that he teaches at 7-7:50 a.m. So not only is it REALLY early, every day is a time crunch.
Chris was always very clear and very straight up, he doesn't mess around as you usually only have an hour everyday and there is a lot of work to be done. I miss Chris because my new math teacher sucks compared to him! I hated math until I took this mans class. He is so clear and straight forward but open to any question and won't make you feel bad.
Chris has an awesome way of explaining concepts. He goes fast, but will take time to catch you up if you're lost. He's patient and a self proclaimed "math geek". Seems to enjoy his job. He's not just there for a paycheck.
Kind of a boring class, but usually expected with math. If you show up every day and do the home work you will fly through the tests. Pretty helpful, and clear on the subjects. Some homework is confusing but he always goes through it, would take from him again.
Chris works really hard to ensure you leave class each day knowing what was just taught, does not give a lot of test problems, but you must really pay close attention on homework and test questions, possible to get an A even though he gives no extras credit. He takes pride in helping you be successful in not just passing the class but learning.
I'm not a math type of person, so this class was a real struggle for me. There is homework everyday, but it is just time consuming. He doesn't grade the homework so make sure to turn them in to get easy points. He teaches very fast and goes through sections quickly so be ready to be a quick learner. The tests are very hard. Good luck with his class
Milner is a great math teacher. He puts all his notes on canvas and is great at explaining concepts. He tells you exactly what is going to be on the tests. The homework isn't that bad and usually only takes 30 minutes. He is a complete math geek and is a great guy overall.
Tests are pretty difficult and this is coming from someone who has never had any trouble with math. Posts lectures on canvas, lectures are not boring and informing. Offers extra credit but not worth much. Hw due everyday, all quizzes are taken through canvas. He is a very good teacher but tough tests. Lets you use a note card of hand written notes.
Professor Milner gives daily assignments that help with learning the material. His lectures explain a lot, but are a bit dry. The tests are difficult, but not terrible. He does not tolerate talking or cell phones in class. Professor Milner is intelligent and kind to his students.
I struggle with math (it's just not my thing) but when I took my Algebra series from Chris that all changed (I still hate math just a lot less now). The way he explained the material and showed how to do the steps made perfect sense to me. I would take math from Chris any day. He is truly one of the best math teachers at Clark.
Professor Milner was a great teacher. He mainly lectures in class and then gives some time to try out problems. Always ask questions if you are unsure. 4 tests including the final and homework every night. If you can pretty much follow along and you put in effort this isn't a difficult class.
In all my math classes at clark college this teacher was by far the best. His clear grading criteria and lectures were why i loved to come to class. There are 4 quizzes and once a week quiz online (6 questions only). Offers 1 extra credit in the beginning of the term. He's lectures are boring but just pull through it! Textbook is a must! Overall A.
Great professor, cares about students, excellent communication. Has tests graded same day if you have a morning class and he posts all reminders and class notes online. Truly enjoyed his class, lectures are very clear and hes specific about what hes asking for on exams.
Great teacher who cares about his students and helps out as much as he can. He not only will teach you shortcuts, but he will add some humor in it as well, keeping the class from being too dry. He is a wonderful teacher.
Milner is the best math teacher at Clark, hands down. His lectures are very straightforward and understandable, and he writes class notes on the computer projected on screen and then posts them online. Homework was due everyday, but if you just do it all, tests are easy and the class is a breeze. Would totally recommend his class.
Chris is an awesome teacher, he has very clear lectures, which are put online after class. He goes over homework at the beginning of class and answers all questions very clearly. Expect a lot of homework, which is graded based on whether you did it or not, not on correctness. He does have extra credit opportunities.
Professor Milner is hands down my favorite math teacher I've ever had. I took Calculus 1, 2, and 3 with him, and it was wonderful. In his lectures he's incredibly clear about every concept, and is more than willing to slow down and help you understand if you are struggling to grasp concepts. Expert user of Starboard as well, so that's a big plus.
Chris is a great math professor. Make sure you understand the material for every test because if you don't then your grade will be heavily effected. Take the opportunity to get help if you need it. Expect homework every night as well as more on the weekend. Take notes and read the textbook.
I took Milner for CALC 2,3 and 4 as well as linear algebra. My favorite math teacher at Clark! If you have the chance to take his class do it.
Professor Milner is a very good math teacher. He makes sure to explain concepts thoroughly so that everyone understands. You have a few math problems as homework each night that are fairly easy & there's about one quick & easy quiz online each week. Before each test (only about 3-4) he gives you a review online which you're also graded for.
Chris is an awesome teacher, I have taken him for 2 quarters and out of all the math instructers I have taken at Clark, I would say his teaching is by far the best. Has clear expectations and is always on schedule with the syllabus. We go over hw problems and we have online notes for the hw which is SO helpful. He is awesome I would recommend him
Professor Milner is a great teacher, he has very clear lectures and his homework is due everyday but its not graded by correctness but by completeness so do your homework study for tests and study his reviews because they are harder than the test questions and make the tests much easier
Actually grades exams the day they're given
Milner is an amazing math teacher. I took Calc 3 with him, and it wasn't until now I've had a good time in a math class. His tests are straightforward and he tells you what will be on it. He does have mandatory homework every night, but it really does help with understanding the content. Would absolutely take a class with him again.
Chris is an awesome! I'm not bad at math, but I don't like it. His class is easy to follow, he's funny, and he makes math simple to understand. There's homework every night, but it's easy and it reinforces what we went over in class & what will be on the test. Show up, do the daily homework and you will do well on tests. Definitely recommended
Chris was the best math professor I have ever had! Everything was clear, his notes in class were available in PDF form immediately and he was very clear with his expectations. Math is my weakness and I received an A!
Chris posted his class notes online each day. This was invaluable for doing homework and studying for quizzes and tests. Chris is quiet a character, goofy jokes help keep those of us with math anxiety relaxed. It would be great if he taught more math levels.
Great teacher. Ended with an A. Easy to pass if youre a good student.
I was super nervous taking calculus 1, but Milner made it somewhat easy to do by teaching clearly and telling us what is going to be on the test. He makes it very clear what info will be on the test. You will have to put time and hard work in this class but its calc (what did u expect) & he makes it better than I assume other professors make it.
Chris is a great teacher. He lectures every day and is very clear. The homework, textbook, and lectures all cover the same material. He is easy to get help from during office hours and is very respectful. 10/10 would take his class again.
The class is structured and taught extremely well. Chris posts class notes online daily, which are clear and filled with helpful examples of problems worked. He prepares the class well for exams, giving good and timely feedback afterward. I have been and would recommend Chris for calculus to anyone.
HE WILL LECTURE ALL CLASS ON EXAMPLES YOU CAN FIND IN THE TEXTBOOK AND GOES THROUGH PROBLEMS IN LITERALLY 5 SECONDS AND MOVES ON. WHEN YOU ASK A QUESTION, HE EXPLAINS SOMETHING ELSE AND IT GETS EVEN MORE CONFUSING. IF YOU MISSED A QUIZ, TOO BAD,NO MAKE UP. IF YOU'RE TAKING THIS CLASS, YOU SHOULD LEARN FROM THE BOOK. SIS, I'M OUT OF HERE!!!
Excellent professor who is really committed to student success. He does a great job of explaining concepts in an understandable way, and does his best to make himself available for help outside of class. He can be a bit strict in the classroom (any cellphone noise at all is admonished immediately), but grades super-fast, lots of grace on tests.
I read the reviews on here first so I decided to take his class out of all the other options and I don't understand the hype much. He's a decent teacher however, he goes through examples fast so it's hard to understand. I wasn't able to give my all to that class which is super different than my usual and he was condescending and hard to talk to.
Chris was an amazing professor. He took the time to help his students during class and was available during office hours for any addition questions. I would take his class again. Some people didn't like him, I don't know why. He truly cares for his students and that shows through his attitude towards them.
Milner has a serious and thorough teaching style, which I respect. He also has a great sense of humor and makes the class enjoyable. He gives plenty of examples and answers any questions. He is very clear about what work needs to be done and when it is due. There is a lot of homework, but if you pay attention and work hard you will succeed.
Probably the most helpful and funny math professor at Clark. Daily homework that wasn't too bad and kept everyone fresh on material. Lecture notes were posted online right after class. Exam questions were very similar to homework and lecture problems. If you did well in Calc 1-3 you should do great.
Very lecture heavy and hard to take notes as he talks really fast. You have to read the chapter beforehand to understand what hes teaching. Very large homework load with strict due dates. I wouldnt recommend to anyone who also works during the evenings. However he is helpful, thorough, and gives you a lot of opportunities to get assistance from him
Dont take this professor if you are even slightly unsure about how trigonometry is. Very disconnected from the class and does not try and build a relationship with the students. Tells you to read textbook if your having troubles before he will help you in class. Homework every day, gets annoyed with students quickly. I recommend any other teacher.
His brisk and concise pace when it came to class work allowed for maximum information given in the daily class. Availability for questions outside of class was useful. I liked that focus and listening instead of trying to talk to classmates was required in his classroom. I would be happy to have him as a professor again.
Super difficult if you aren't used to math classes or good at math.
Great teacher! Gives you more than enough extra credit opportunities to pass. He's a funny guy too! Posts all the lectures online, but they aren't recorded just slides of what we did, which can be hard to understand so best not to miss class. His tests can be tough, but he lets you know everything that will be on the tests so you know what to study
Chris was awesome!! I took trig, and math has never been easy for me, but he seriously explained things in the most simplest and easiest ways. Encourages questions and never makes you feel dumb. For my class he was available outside of class for an hour every single day. Which I used, and is one of the main reasons I did so well. Take him!
His online class so far is so great!! I actually feel like I'm being taught the material by my teacher, rather than teaching myself with TED talks/random videos (as with other online classes). He does optional, recorded Zoom lectures as well as other videos, and is always there for you if you need help. Workload isn't too much. And he's funny too!
One of the best teachers Ive ever had! Hes very organized, excellent at explaining math topics, funny & encourages questions, and is always accessible if you need help outside of class. He had our final exams and final grades posted within 2 days of finishing. Hes on top of his stuff- I felt like I was in capable hands and it helped me succeed!
We had 3 50-minute lectures a week. His lectures were very informative, he went through multiple examples, you could ask questions in the middle of it and ask him to slow down. He usually does 3-4 HW assignments a week, 30min/HW. A quiz every week. He responds to emails very fast and will set up a private zoom meeting if you need extra help.
Chris communicates assignments and tests in advance, and is easy to get hold of if you have questions or are struggling. He is there to help you succeed. On the side, he provides excellent resources and learning tools. Stay up to date and know what's going on each week and you will have no problem in this class, even if you're not a fan of math.
Chris is easy going with a great understanding of math. Can go pretty fast at times in lectures, but if you ask questions you'll be ok. 1 discussion post, 3-4 homework assmnts (on Cengage), and 1 quiz each week: w/ 3 exams throughout the term. It might sound like a lot, but he spreads it out over the week so it feels like you have plenty of time.
I took his trig class online and to be fair, taking trig online is just not easy, so Ill give him that. His zoom lectures are mandatory and long and early in the AM. His class is pretty unfulfilling and daunting in my opinion and we moved quicker than I would have liked. I dont think hes necessarily a bad prof, I think his class is unorganized.
Prof. Milner was not a bad professor, but I would not suggest anyone to take him.I took his in-person class and the morning lectures were a bit dreadful. It was difficult to pay attention and follow along. He would go through the material very quickly and most times you don't have time to grasp the concepts. No feedback provided on homework.
I highly recommend taking Professor Milner for Calculus. I went into the term stressed since most people say they failed or were on the verge of failing calculus and although you do need to put effort to understand the concepts, Professor Milner made it easy. He prepares students really well for exams. Take his class if you can!
I really liked this professor, I learned a lot and the pace was good. Morning lectures consist of a bunch of examples that he goes through mostly and the way he explained things made sense to me but lectures were a bit boring overall. The first exam was pretty easy and then the second was a bit more difficult. The final was longer but not harder.
Chris is by far one of my favorite teachers! If you want to pass Calculus take him. His class is very organized, and he goes through a lot of the material each day, so I always felt prepared for everything. He posts grades the same day as all the exams and final. Loved the jokes he would drop here and there keeping the vibes in the classroom nice:)
Summer course, the lectures are fast paced with basically no time for notes. However, Chris records and uploads all lectures. He is tech savvy and knows how to make his course accessible. The course itself is very simple algebraically, but there is a ton of math jargon that will overwhelm you. Focus on understanding the vocab and such.
Mr. Milner is the best math professor I have ever had. Took an in-person class as a running-start student to get a taste of college, and was not disappointed. Mr. Milner's class is clear, concise, and efficient. His sense of humor keeps the mood of the classroom light, and I felt like I learned well in the environment. Highly recommended.
Chris is a fantastic professor! He gives a lot of examples in class that are explained in a such an organized and uncomplicated way. Uploads his lectures so you can review anything at any point. He's a pro at OneNote. Responds very quickly to emails and you always feel like he's on your side. Take him if you ever get a chance, you won't regret it!
As someone who has loved math for my whole school life, his class was so incredibly difficult and the tests were really hard. Although it might be the nature of the course since calculus is tough, he goes extremely fast, and if you fall slightly behind it feels impossible to get back on track (#photomath for life)
He's my favorite math prof ever. He's just so good at explaining concepts and helping you with something if you don't understand. Highly recommend taking calculus with him.
I've taken Professor Milner's class for Calculus I and III. I'm signed up for his Calculus IV class. I wish I could've had him for Calculus II. I really appreciate that he records his lectures and saves pdfs of the class notes to look back on. Also on his tests he grades the best 10 answers out of 11 questions so you get a freebie. Highly Recommend
Chris is hands down the best math professor at Clark. He's very organized & definitely knows his stuff. Super smart guy! Always available & eager to help. It's obvious he loves what he does & cares about his students. You'll always learn at max capacity with him! His classes are fun too. A genuinely nice guy & surprisingly funny on the daily!
While the homework sets and weekly quizzes could be tedious at times everything else was amazing. He had frequent office hours and was just about always available before and after class, but not only available - also eager to help answer questions and clear up confusion. Took Calc 1,3,4 and Linear with him and wish he taught all my other courses.
Chris was a great trig teacher. He did his best to make sure everyone understood the lectures. This class is in person 3 days a week and on zoom the other 2. There is a zoom option everyday for students who cannot come in to class. He posts all of his lectures online which is extremely helpful for when you need to look back at things.
Chris was an amazing professor who gave great feedback. Four tests a term but they were small. One question was free on tests and he always gave us a breakdown of what would be on test. He was so funny and gave entertaining and extremely helpful lectures. He is so kind and guides his students toward success.
Chris is a solid trig professor. His lectures, whether in-person or on Zoom, are helpful in breaking down the content. Using resources like Unstuck ai alongside the textbook and attending study sessions really helps make this class manageable, even for those who aren't math enthusiasts.
Having an odd learning style + struggling with math before, most the material is online w occasional weekly projects ([easier] to get printed copy, appear in class). Syllabus is accurate, and helps with knowing where quizzes are. Easy to learn for online people, but fast lectures. HOWEVER, posts vids of said lectures in Canvas. Adapt and overcome!
Professor Milner is great. He prepares you for tests with great reviews and practice tests; and he gives credit on work shown as well as dropping some scores, dropping your worst problem on a test and revising old test scores if you do well on the final so it's not super harsh of grading, but you will be tested so be prepared to learn the material.
I had Professor Milner for the Fall 2024 term in his Calc 3 class. He taught the material well, he would post videos to watch along with his daily lectures. Amazingly, he also posted recordings of in person class if you missed a day. Loved the test format, he outlines what's going to be on the test which is great. 10/10, I'm taking Calc 4 with him.
Chris is good! He's very online oriented. He wants you to succeed and provides support and time for questions in office hours. There's a couple homework assignments every week and a recap quiz. Get everything done before Sunday! His reviews are super helpful for exams (4 exams total) good grade on the final replaces bad grade sections on others.
Milner is an amazing professor. He really goes out of his way to create so many resources for students to succeed in his class, as well as providing visuals for students that work best that way.
Chris is good. weekly online quizzes which acts as a grade buffer! he also drops the lowest 2 quiz scores and a few questions on exams. overall easy and enjoyable lectures. i would have enjoyed his class more if i could show up to all of his lectures. if i took him again, i would not take the 8am session... his humor is fun tho :)
I liked him at first and he's a decent teacher, but the lectures go too fast and he often gets sidetracked. He doesn't always explain things in enough detail, and asking questions can feel awkward. The homework is helpful, but exams are weighted too heavily, which makes the class feel tougher than expected. Expect to mostly self teach.
Great math professor and manageable class. someone else reviewed him and said the exams weigh too much and I disagree. The exams are worth 25% and the final is 30%. If your final score is higher than your lowest test score, he will make it the same score as your final. He also allows a notecard for the final. Exam 2 and 3 he gives a formula sheet.
