Very good teacher. If u have a question he addresses it so everyone hears and understands it. Gives u lil' mini tests everyday that u can do w/a partner so u are helping each other learn-ended up with a C-and I am completly stupid when it comes to math!

I think he is a wonderful teacher and if you listen to him in class, learn how to do the problems (mathlab tutors can help too), do all your homework then you should be fine. I'm terrible at math. I almost flunked algebra in high school, but I managed to pull out an A in his class!!

This class was very easy. The homework is all online and if you mess up on a problem you can redo a similar one. Should you be unable to do an assignment on time he's very understanding and will give you extra time to get it done. You will still have to understand the subject matter but for a math class this one was pretty easy.

He spends a lot of time explaining and going over things. He's wonderful at answering all questions and makes a point to be as helpful and upbeat as possible. The only problem is that there's a lot of material in just one day that he goes over. Sometimes he doesn't show all of his work so I don't know how to solve most problems.

Mizell is a good teacher. His homework assignments are online and incredibly trivial. His tests are hard, but not tricky. You either learned it or you didnt. If you're having problems with something he'll spend time with you anytime you want, and at times will spend extra time in class helping you. He's very upbeat, alot like the Blue's clues guy.

Mizell's explanations can be very cerebral but he can dumb it down enough for clarity. All homework is on Mymathlab.com. Costs $45 dollars to register. He gives great class notes so you don't even need the book. I've never opened mine. He is lenient and compassionate. His exam grading is late but very lenient. Highly recommend

I took the class DL. He leverages every bit of technology that he can in order to make the DL version of the class like actually attending it: recorded lectures, class notes, etc. Best DL class I have ever taken.

Took him for Calc II. Calc II is already a hard course to begin with, and his teaching style didn't make it much easier. No test review sheets, and the in-class reviews were pretty useless. Tests averages for the CLASS were high 60s/low 70s the whole time, even with big curves sometimes. Not a horrible person, but teaching method could use work

Liberal Arts 1 with Mr.Mizell proved to be enjoyable. He uses Tegrity during his lectures and posts them online to view. The homework is done online and his worksheet policy is fair. Very good to work with.

I've had Mr. Mizell for both Calc 1 & 2, and was very happy with my experience in both classes. All of the material for his classes is located online, which makes it very convienent if you need to review notes or lecture videos. He is very willing to help you if you are willing to work in his class as well. I definitely recommend him.

Took this class online. I loved the flexibility. I was behind (and 5 months preg)and he worked with me on getting assignments in. He teaches using video so if you miss something, get sleepy, or need to use the bathroom you can just pause it. And I learned more material since I could complete it as many times as I desired. Got an A!

I cannot believe this is a real math class! I grew up solving logic problems and word games so this class is super easy. Mr. Mizell is a nice guy with a great voice. Videos online if you have questions later. Agree w/ pp about participation allowed but not encouraged, but always answers your questions.

Make sure you know math before you take this class. I tested into the class but was way over my head. Spent 49 hours in the math lab and was only saved by generous extra credit opportunities. He is a really nice guy with a sense of humor. He tries to take time to answer questions thoroughly without holding up the rest of the class. COME PREPARED

Very flexible teacher! He isn't really strict on attendance and all classes were recorded online for students to view anytime. He is willing to give an extra hand if you need help with something and always gives several step-by-step examples.

Mr. Mizell is a really great guy and he wants to help but if you are not good at math then you are going to have to put in a lot of extra time to pass. I would say take his wife Mary for this class. I had her for int. alg and she was terrific! I had never been good at math but ended up getting an A easily. She gives lots of extra credit! : )

Math for Liberal Arts is a course designed for those not seeking a career in the mathematical field and Mizell understands that. He is very clear and to the point. He records all of his courses through Tegrity, so if you miss a class you can watch the class at home. Course material is easy and Mizell is worth your time.

I thought Mr. Mizell was a good teacher, but he went way to fast. He would slow down if you asked him too, but when he gets into teaching something, he gets into it and I don't think he realizes how fast he is going. Overall, he's good and pretty funny too.

I have taken many math professors at NWFSC. Half of them were great, the other half not so much. Mizell is in the better half! He is a little quirky with his jokes and teaching methods...but that made it fun. He is knowledgeable and will not move on until he thinks the students understand. He's very enthusiastic and always has a good attitude!

Dr Mizell is a great teacher. You will earn if you apply yourself in his class. If you have an error in typing something in on the Math lab,save the aper you worked it out on and bring it to him, he will look over it and credit you the appropriate score, so you dont have ot take the whole test/quiz again.

Mr. Mizell is great!! He is the only instructor I have had in math, that realizes not everyone is a great test taker. There are 3 tests, and a final. He even has a copy of every lecture available online after class in case you need more help when you get home. It's not an easy class, but work hard and show up for class and you'll be OK!

Math is not the easiest subject for everyone, but Mizell does a lot to make it as easy as possible. Sometimes his way of explaining things can be a little hard to follow, but he provides more than enough resources to help figure out the concepts. I'm taking him again this semester for College Algebra.

Math is definitely not my strong suit, but he is an excellent math teacher. I took a blended course, and most of my stuff was online. He was happy to work with you if you had any questions, and promptly responded to any emails. The lectures were very clear, and he worked things so you actually understood them.

I took Mr. Mizell for MAC1105. He does almost everything he can to help students, so if you take this class and don't understand the material, it isn't his fault. He records lectures on video so students can watch them over and over if they don't get it. Very helpful guy and always enthusiastic about math.

I had not taken a math class for 3+ years before taking this and I was surprised how easy it was, mainly because of how good a teacher Mizell is. His Tegrity videos online make all of the problems seem ridiculously easy and he gives you practice problems for both the midterm and final that are very close to the actual tests. Highly recommended.

Math is a very tough subject for me but as long as you stay up to date on the ALEKS website, watch his video lectures and participate in the D2L group discussions, you should be fine. I tested poorly (like, embarrassingly bad) on the exams but still passed the class thanks to the discussion credit and keeping up with ALEKS.

Math has always been just 'ok' to me, and my last math class was an absolute train wreck, but Mizell made everything clear, used all the class time to go over multiple examples, and was very clear as to what would be on the test. Like any math class there was lots of homework but he has them all open until the day before the test, it's a huge help!

Very knowledgeable and enthusiastic math professor. This is my second time taking one of his math classes and I chose him intentionally. Will take time to explain the material and is quick to answer any emails. He sometimes complicates things, but is open to feedback. This is one of my last math classes and I'm a little sad I can't have him again.

Best mathematics teacher I've ever hadDr Mizell was very precise and taught the material in a clear, poignant way without slowing down so much that it ever became tedious. The exams (mid-term and final) were really indicative of what we'd been learning, and I felt truly prepared for them. Homework done through Aleks, which is the best math site.

Class work done through ALEKS, which pretty much does the teaching. Normal amount of homework for a math class. Gives a ton of extra credit that is based on class discussion. Work is spread out pretty well, and homework/quizzes both give multiple attempts to improve your score. This class has been so much better than Intermediate Algebra.

I can't really give all of the credit to the Professor in an online class that works almost completely through ALEKS, but I have no complaints. He also provide opportunity for tons of extra credit based on discussion board posts. Class has been easier and better paced for me than Intermediate Algebra was.

The online portion of Intermediate Algebra MAT1033A is done through Aleks. The book is OPTIONAL btw, I mistakenly bought it... you can actually use Khanacademy, youtube, or any quality source. Professor Mizell didn't answer my email, but changed my grade about midterms. Overall, he will help if you ask, I still knew math concepts so it was easy

This was my first online math class and he made it so easy. You have 2-3 homework assignments and a quiz a week and the midterm and final are on campus. He gives printable notes to follow his online lectures and he makes everything super easy. Always replied me if i had questions and was really nice. Best online instructor ive ever had.

Lots of homework, but it's online and there are extra tries to get a 100%. All his notes for class and test reviews are online. If you print them out and do the reviews then you will pass easy! Some of the work is not business related, but that's math. I'm so glad I got him and not the other teacher.

We only had Dr. Mizell for a few weeks, but he was great. He goes really slow during lectures so the harder material is very easy to understand. He gave us bonus quizzes every week and let us work together on them. On his for credit quizzes/tests he often told us how to do the problem in the instructions. He's easy to find and ask for help as well.

The class is hard. The midterm and final count for 70% of your total grade but he gives you everything you need to pass.

I did online and we had weekly homework assignments that had unlimited tries on the problems. His reviews for the midterm and final were very close to the tests and he was very clear on his grading criteria. I'm awful at math and I managed to get a 99.5 in his class and I feel like I learned a lot. TAKE HIM!

Took Mizell for Intermediate Algbra, and I finally "got" math! He takes the time each class to go around and help students thoroughly with problems! He is very friendly, and knows his stuff. He doesn't make you go the hard route to solve a math problem unlike many math teachers. He explains things very well, I hope I can find him for another math!

Prof. Mizell is awesome! I took 2 of his online courses. Just do the work & you'll pass! He gives you plenty of ways to earn extra credit /bonus points with discussions, and prepares your for his tests. Friendly & easy to get in touch with if you need help. And if you're as horrible with math as I was, you definitely want to take his class.

This is by far the best math teach I have ever had in my entire life. I took the class online, he gives amazing video lectures that really help out with the work. He is offers ample extra credit opportunities. This class does have a fair amount of homework, but Mr. Mizell is very helpful in allowing extra opportunity to submit your work.

I have always struggled in math, I actually failed college algebra once before.I just took Mr. Mizzells class online and I actually felt confident for once in math. He gives you practice quizzes that are exactly like the quizzes you take, just different numbers. Also there was no mid term or final, and he drops the lowest quiz grade

I love Professor Mizell. I took him for Trig, Pre-calc, Calculus 1, and I wish I could take him for Calculus 2. His lectures are long but in-depth, and his tests are just like his study guides. Always in his office ready to help. Great professor who made me love math!

This professor is by far my favorite math teacher. I have had him for 2 math classes so far and would take him all the way up to Calculus 3 if he taught it. Definitely worth taking. He gets back to his students quickly and teaches very well.

He only gives 3 assignments of homework per module. There's extra problems and resources entirely laid out for you. It worked out, this was the easiest math course I've taken, but it also taught me a few things. Do your work! It seriously goes a long way. If online, get an external webcam ready. His lectures were accurate with what was needed.

I took his class during a trying time when this whole covid stuff was new. For it being whats known as one of the hardest courses of college to pass being calc 2. I am very glad that I was able to take this class with him. If you put in the work and do the homework and review the test review before a test. You will be fine and he rounds the grade!

Dr. Mizell is a nice, chill person, but I never was able to fully learn in his class. I just did not understand his teaching method, so it was much harder for me. Most of the homework was on ConnectMath and you can finish it ahead of time.

Mr. Mizell is a great math professor. He cares about you and your grade! Extra help is given by him and the mathlab, so if you keep up with your work and ask questions; you should be able to pass the class with little to no struggle. Additionally, the test reviews are very helpful. All questions given will be similar to test questions.

Professor Mizell is an amazing teacher. I took MAT1033A first and MAC1105 the next semester because he was such a great teacher. His recorded lectures made even the hardest parts of the class easy to understand. He is quick to respond to emails when you need help or clarification on anything.

Mr. Mizell is an amazing professor, very easy to understand and great at using other resources to make challenging concepts easy. Lectures and lessons are clear and relatively short and made learning new concepts and mastering tough problems easy and fun. Highly recommend!

I took this class online and the single thing that allowed me to pass this class with an a was DOING THE PRACTICE QUIZ'S. The practice quiz's single handedly got me A's on every quiz they are the exact same type of questions, and if you can do those you will ace the quiz, and overall pass the class.

Mr. Mizell is an awesome teacher! I took his college algebra class last summer and despite not taking any math classes in about 10 years I still pulled off the grade that I did due to his extensively clear and concise study guides. If you can ace all of the reviews before the tests there is no way that you cannot make a good grade in his class.

Professor Mizell's MAC1105 class is a great option. His recorded lectures and online homework made the material accessible. I found unstuck study and the textbook to be helpful study tools alongside his clear explanations.

There aren't enough good things I can say about Mr. Mizell. He is the professor that turned me from a failing highschool math student to an A+ college algebra student. Whenever I asked for an extra day on an assignment, he would give me a whole extra week. Hands down the BEST professor at NWFSC. Just pay attention in class, and you'll love him too.

I took the algebra with integrated review, BEST TEACHER! He uses lock down browser, however, his tests are exactly like the hw and practice quizzes he gives you. His lectures are in depth but not too long and give you every piece of info you will need. If you keep up with the lectures and hw I promise this will remain the easiest class.
