Hard Course but good teacher
No Comments
Nice teacher but his exams are not quite nice.
good teacher.
good teacher, hard tests, average marker, have to study hard
Morgan was way to abstract in his teaching. He pulls new tricks on tests too..

He isn't very clear in his teaching..I think he speaks too fast and unclear. He doesn't pause to see if the class is at par with him
He makes an easy class exruciatingly difficult. Went from a C- in his pre-calc class to a A in Ian Affleck's Calc 1 class. Tends to stare bugg-eyed at front row students. Not helpful. Nasal voice is annoying. Intimidating.
I hate this guy, he's very strict and his quizzes, midterm and final are all hard. Extremely hard to get higher than a "B" with this guy. Not recommended, period.
good teacher
he is so not recommended by me, he's a bad teacher period. you dont' understand anything he says, he's probably the worst teacher ever, that i had.
terrible marker. intelligence killer. you gotta write as if you're describing thihgs to a dumb person to get full marks. no appreciation for smartness. he knows as much as the course notes, not more.
not nice
He is damn good at math, but his method of teaching sucks. He sees students as his enemies as all his quizzes and tests are mission impossible. His exam questions are the most difficult an challenging. very hard marker! avoid! avoid! avoid!
Clear when teaching, helpful, yet his exams are difficult. High grades are possible but you have to work very hard. Had an B+ walking into the final finished with a B-. Wasn't expecting such a difficult final.
HE IS SOOOOOOOOOOOO HARD! It is unbelieable how hard he is! He knows his stuff (has a PhD - Dr. Chris Morgan), but his tests are impossible! He starts yelling to put ur pen down once time is up!!!!!!

very, very hard and hard to understand...his instuction is unclear because he speaks to fast in my opinion..and others as well...he is very caring but not too helpful...(at least he tries)
most of the class just ended up with C- grades, no thanks to him, now i can't transfer...sad
please, please trust me, don't take him. your marks are just gonna drop soo badly.
I think he is a great teacher, but not in the writing tests position. I have so much fun in his class. He explain things well if you can understand it. haha, too bad his classes actually will hart your GPA a lot!!!!
great mathematician, nice enough guy, could lay off nit picking details especially on tests, if you forget to put down symbolism and units you can fail a test with all the right answers
dont even bother with this class. he screams at the students, you have like an hour to finish the impossible tests which he fails everyone on for not putting stupid stuff like symbols and x= and he talks a mile a minute and uses big words. i hope i pass
VERY HOT!!!!BUT,Takes marks off for no reason.Exams Hard..OvEral: Bad Bad Bad
what he taught is really clearly.
It's a very hard course. But if you listen to him, you will get it. He explains very well. His tests are very hard.
TOO HARD
HE IS GREAT VERY HELPFUL AND NICE .
i feel very stressed out in his class. too much pressure with other courses combined.
He's really good when doing examples, so it's easy to follow along. He is very helpful in and out of class, and keeps you awake w/ his loud voice. WARINING!!!! His tests get harder as the term goes on, so if you take him, study hard.
A HOT class, just like a big oven. This toaster+extremely difficult subject+unclear teaching method made me sleepy(o yeah,I slept alot)in the class and barely pass this course. The lowest grade I got and still don't get about SPAN and EIGENVALUE till today.
shorts in the wintertime everyday? anyway this guy is hard. he teaches too quickly so if you don't get it, you're screwed. his exams are pretty straight forward and is almost exactly the same as what he teaches in class (except for the final)
I wouldn't recommend him to my worst enemy
Test are not bad, great communication of the material. Pretty easy overall.
helpful
i like him. he is so nice and always explains very clear.
He Sucks, Don't take any course with this Guy.
he is a great teacher, but too difficult to get good grade!!! too strick on everything
extreemly hard. explains examples very clearly tho.. smart guy.... class goes fast and his tests r hell
hard exams,hard marker,boring class

he's very creative in the sense that he'll create questions on exams that make will you sit back and wonder, "what in the heck is it asking me?" - regardless of how well you've studied the material. He re-defines the meaning of hard (ex. class average for one test was 40%). This class is road kill.
if ur planning to take a course 2 times...take it with him. he is nice, smart...but these dont make ur mark go higher...so study hard...24/7 honestly it takes a lot of effort and time to get a good mark on either math 152 or math 230!
I wanted to major in math until Morgan said to me "we can't all do what we want to do". (!!!) How prickish is that? It's always death-by-a-thousand-cuts in math exams, and we all try to minimize the bleeding, but Morgan is a torturous man who wants to see his students bleed to death. His rational with his part-marks is rationless. Be afraid!
This guy is the best math teacher i've ever had. he's also the hardest. This course brought my GPA down quite a bit but it's also the best 300 something bucks i've spent on a course -you learn something every class. He is passionate about what he teaches and it shows. Also, I'm probably the only one but I find him quite hilarious.
I agree that he's quizes and exams were hard, but if you want to see how a university level course is, say at SFU/UBC take his course. His exams are equivalent to a university exam.
Chris is probably one of the best teachers I've had. He explains the concepts extremely well, you really get your moneys worth. The course (and his class) are very hard, however, but his marking is not unreasonable and his tests somewhat straight forward. He is extremely fussy about notation, so make sure you're careful in how you show your work.
Relatively hard marker. Very picky about notation. His tests are fair but expect to work hard to get a good mark.
impossible, you can understand the material completely but he makes the tests so hard that you feel like you dont know a thing. VERY VERY VERY hard tests. nit picks every single answer, expect to lose 1 - 2 marks per question for notation, anything you write on the page will be marked so beware.
A real teacher! really interestedn in teaching! his tests are not quite easy, but if you make efforts, you'll get what you want. pay attention to the notations!
not an easy class.. but he explains concepts clearly in class.. he marks hard but it does essentially push you ( for me anyway)
Possibly the worst teacher ever. The lousy sack of crap deducts marks for stuff in your work. I lost 8 percent on one test because I skipped a step that he didn't know how to skip, and my final answer was correct! Worst teacher/marker ever. DO NOT TAKE A CLASS FROM HIM!
His tests will crush your soul. I breezed through the text questions, failed the test. For the next quiz I did his class examples with no problem, still failed. I bought the practice exam book and did those questions without a hitch. STILL FAILED. He teaches to one level and tests to a much higher one. So discouraging. Nice enough guys though.
Extremely nice guy, very good teacher. I think he is hilarious. However!!! I am very good at math, but his tests are quite unfair. I mean this is a tough course, and ya, he does put the hardest questions on the tests. Not only that, the time constraint is very unfair. No time to think, you must just go!
He is a nice guy. Exams are fair but he is Really bad with marking papers.
Chris is a great Calculus teacher. Very emphatic and concise in his teaching. Going to every class is a MUST. In order to succeed on his exams, you must do all your homework AND his online labs. Very challenging tests! Hard to get an A/A+ ! I asked him questions on a regular basis during his office hours, very willing to help! Take Calc with Chris!
he is one of the best calc teachers i've ever had, he made math so easy for me. his exams are hard though
Took this class twice, and got him as a teacher both times. He explains concepts well and is very helpful if you go see him outside of class. Tests are ridiculously hard, and I had never seen some of the questions on the final.
oh he is the worse. He can't teach and just makes everything harder. never can trust his teaching and you never can predict what he is going to ask you on his test. really hated his class. His class just brought my GPA down.
Worst professor I have ever had. Very confusing, and constantly tries to scare his students. Although the material is difficult, it could have been much easier if he cared more. Helpful in office hours, useless in lecture. Exams are VERY difficult, and marked unreasonably hard. Not a good environment; I suggest any other math teacher at cap.
Personally, I found he made concepts more complicated and difficult to understand than they should be. Helpful during office hours (one to one), but not at all in lectures. Tests were unpredictable and marking made tests even harder (each section being out of 10 or 15). If you struggle at all with mathematics, I would not recommend this professor.
Very dynamic, actually.. he yells the whole class! great guy, hard marker. Probably the smartest guy i've ever met. If you don't do all the questions in the textbook you won't get an A
Re-thinking my past evaluation, i have a lot of thoughts towards Chris. First off, i think hes a remarkable teacher, probably the most smart math teacher at Capilano, and he loves to help you with your questions. His tests are not difficult to other calculus tests i've written, but Chris is a very very hard marker. His lectures are also too rushed
very boring ! though teacher and very confusing
Good teacher, if you like math.
not recommended at all ! very tough marker
Chris overall is an alright math teacher. He expects you to remember everything from highschool, and he will pick on you for it. If you want to do well, DO ALL THINGS HE ASSIGNS. And you'll end up with B- most likely. His tests are extremely difficult for what he shows in class. If possible, take Frank's class, he is much more reasonable.
Such a smart guy, very helpful. His class is really straight forward, don't miss a class. And his tests are hard and he is a hard marker !
Chris is a really great teacher who knows his stuff. However, the class is very difficult to get a good grade in since the tests are very, very hard.
No midterms, test throughout the semester. Hardest marker I've ever had. Gets pretty passionate about lectures and yells about what hes teaching most classes. I knew some calc, and he confused me about the stuff I already knew. Not straight forward at all
Chris has very organized and thorough notes. His lectures are great, he is very clear however he goes very fast (like every prof). He is a very tough marker, don't even think about asking for marks back, it isn't happening. Overall if you're a strong math student you will excel in chris' class. If you struggle with math, chris will destroy you.
Very organized. Talks a bit too much. Marks off even if it is the slightest detail wrong. Tests represent lectures fairly.
Doing well in his class is not only about being good at math, but being insanely detail oriented (housekeeping). Make ONE small rotational mistake somewhere and you get a FULL mark taken off. Attempts usually get zero marks (where other teachers would give part marks). I did not care for his teaching style either, he just regurgitates the textbook.
He has really good notes but is a very very hard marker. also he doesnt know how to talk in a normal voice, he just yells everything he says. also he never smiles. he is nice ish, but intimidating. office hours/ MLC hours are good opportunities to get help. use it or you wont pass.
AWFUL! Paid attention, came to ALL classes but still failed! Would not recommend!
yeah, would not recommend!
Exams were extermely diffucult. Impossible to pass.
Awful professor. Does not explain anything well and makes his tests unnecessarily hard. Would not recommend at all
thank goodness he's retiring. absolutely awful. Takes joy in failing a class. Has no idea how to teach. an embarrassment to post secondary education. only did my mark improve when i stopped going to his lectures.
He is very good instructor.
Very intimidating and not approachable. Tends to cover all the optional topics and is brutal when grading. He knows the material very well but can't really convey it to students in a way where everyone can follow along
