Really an amazing professor--he changed my view on religion entirely. Mount is incredibly passionate during his lectures--he is quick to help with any gaps in understanding and values all student input! The readings are SO interesting, and the discussions engaging. He truly wants you to learn and *think critically*. TAKE HIM, read, and participate.

Mount is a super sweet dude who really loves teaching his subject which is apparent by his stunted Expo markers and wild hand gestures. His class is reading and writing heavy, but he values valid & structured arguments more than format. Only complaint: the lectures get long towards the end of the quarter (I don't have lots of interest in topic).

DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS ONLINE, IT WAS THE WORST THING THAT I HAVE EVER TAKEN AT DEPAUL. GROUP PAPERS FOR AN ONLINE CLASS EVERY OTHER WEEK, QUIZ EVERY OTHER WEEK. POINTS WERE TAKEN OFF BECAUSE I DIDNT HAVE A PROFILE PICTURE ON D2L. CHOOSE ANYTHING ELSE BESIDES THIS CLASS.

Absolutely brutal class, not because of the difficulty of the workload, but the sheer amount of readings required paired with some of the driest lectures I've ever listened to. Discussion posts and quizzes require you to read 100+ pages of mind-numbingly boring concepts. Don't be naive like me, this is not a mythology class, despite the course name

Incredibly dense and boring class on a subject that isn't difficult to make interesting. The readings are long, dense, and unbelievably dull. His online lectures are often him just rereading the assigned readings in a monotone voice followed by a few insights. Take a different class.

Thought this class was going to be interesting it was not. Really tough grader especially during a pandemic?? Really boring video lectures. Doesn't post any notes but just quotes from readings so it doesn't help much. This class could have been more fun if it was in person I'm sure but in an online environment, much of it was teaching yourself.

Super easy grader if you're on time & follow the instructions. As long as you support your view with evidence it's an easy 100% or 100+% He assigns a lot of readings but you don't need to read it all to get an A. As long as you read the Chapters and topics that he focuses on in the blog posts and essays, you can easily cut your time significantly.

Just lots of discussion posts that all have a lot of reading. The tests you can take unlimited times, which you would think is nice, but the questions get changed up so they're quite difficult. If you're genuinely interested in the topic and don't mind reading you'll enjoy it, but it's by no means an easy way to fulfill your religion credit.

Prof assigned a bunch of readings & discussion boards each week and is VERY concrete on deadlines. Had to buy 4 textbooks to only use them a little. He also seemed to assign extra "normal" work during midterms and final weeks in addition to the essays & exams he gives. Prof is knowledgeable of the material but his lectures make him sound bored.

weekly quizes/midterm/final you could take unlimited times but the questions changed and were hard. Weekly discussion which you got 100% if you did it, was long enough and added a quote but papers were graded kinda harshly. No late work excepted. Fine but not ideal class/prof. Class was boring with lots of reading and lectures that were monotone

I took him for a different class & had to take this class bc it was the only one to fit with my schedule. Worse than the first time. VERY tough, too many textbooks you will barely use, dry video lectures. Gave me a 4/4 for the final essay, only to bump it down to a 3/4 2 days later. Only positive he let me take the final when i messed up the dates.

Read the reviews before signing up for this teacher. He is such a tough grader, and is genuinely the worse prof. ever. I hope I never need to take another class with him. This professor is the only one I can actually say I hated, I have loved all my professors at this school except this guy. One of the most arrogant people I know, and has insanely specific expectation for students that makes it nearly impossible to do well. I have gone to Catholic school my whole life and this guy made me feel like I knew nothing.

I really enjoyed taking this class as even though it was graded by only four papers (2 short essay, 1 midterm, 1 final), he is a very lenient grader. I purposely didn't include a conclusion for one of my essays and still gave me a 100% on the paper. He does try to facilitate class discussion, so be sure to read and participate before class.

Prof Mount is so funny. If you don't want to read, I wouldn't take the course, but in the end it doesn't matter too much. The class is discussion based but fully lead by him and he will take any idea you have and work it into the discussion even if it is not the answer he is looking for. He is very passionate and makes class extremely enjoyable.

He's great, he approaches religion in a respectful way. We analyze religion but don't discuss which religion is "true". The class is manageable, lots of readings but that's normal for college. He doesn't call on people so if you don't read for one class your fine. Not too many papers either, and a pretty easy grader if you try. I recommend it!

This guy expects too much for an online async class. He is very nitpicky, as he has harsh grading lines for no reason. He gave me a zero because he said my post was not original and too similar to others, despite several other students' posts being similar to each other. Would avoid, avoid, avoid! Take this class with anyone else besides him!
