The Class is Fun!! He's very funny and keeps it light. Show up for class every day and passing the course will be a breeze. He gives you all the test answers! This is the best class i ever took.

This guy is an awesome teacher. I felt like I gained a lot from his class and felt like he kept me entertained as well. His tests are all handed out to you the first day of class. I highly recomend taking this class.

I love this guy! He's a great teacher, and acutally makes history fun. I have always hated history..now it's fun. Pretty laid back, and gives tests in form of "papers" which are handed out on the first day! Awesome awesome!

Professor Newman is GREAT! At some points he teaches very quickly so its good to have a voice recorder for his lectures. In any case, he is hilarious! He makes me laugh every class period, because of his political commentary.

After the first class, I ended up signing up for every single class this man taught, religion, poli sci, everything. He is the best teacher ever. He made me want to be a poli sci major.

Very cool guy. He's funny and makes lectures interesting. Tests are papers that can be long, but he tells you everything that has to be in them. He's awesome!

Took his Pol 150 class and went back for his history class. He can go off on tangents, try to keep up or try to reel him back to the subject at hand. He is passionate about his subjects, and funny. Lots of work, but spelled out completely. Wish he taught more classes at ECC.

Easy tests but a lot of writing and details. Sometimes (all the time) his comparisons are hard to follow. He talks quick so write fast. Take good notes and the tests will be super easy. Funny, nice, guy but drags on with some stories. And PS... he is not a hottie. Sorry girls.

Newman was one of my favorite profs at ECC. He's funny and ties it in well with the material. I learned alot while enjoying it. The tests might be intimidating if you haven't done much college writing, but I seemed to do well on them. Very clear about what he is teaching and went over everything we didn't understand. Would highly recommend.

Newman was a great professor. He was very funny and it was easy to pass his class. He was however hard to follow and at times boring. I always had to have some tea or pop before his class so I wouldn't fall asleep. He picks favorites, so make sure you're really nice to him and participate. He's a great guy! I always talked to him outside of class

He is a great teacher and very knowledgeable, a bit sarcastic but generally very helpful espeically those that want to help themselves. Attendence is a must to pass the class and good note taking. I do recommend him.

A lot of writing in this online class. As long as you sufficiently answer the questions, he gives you an A on the assignments and an A in the class. Not much more to it than that.

Mr Newman is great, easy, funny, and very free-spirited!! He sits down in a chair the entire class period, he talks, and you take notes. It may sound boring but his class is EASY!! His tests are essay questions, but he gives them to you in the beg. of the semester! TAKE HIM!

Mr. Newman was definitely one of my favorite teachers at ECC. He is very laid back with a sense of humor. You are guaranteed an easy A! He never gave homework except for a current events assignment which you have months to work on. Besides that, here are a few tests and a final. I would highly recommend him if you're looking to get that easy A.

Mr. Newman made American Government interesting. He is willing to help in any way he can. He even wants you to come and check answers with him to guarantee an A+ on exams. If you put in the effort and do the work, you can expect an A in the class.

This class was SO EASY. I took it online. NEVER used books. The whole course is steps to writing the final paper in the class. SO EASY. Easy grader. Expect an A. It was so easy, I couldn't believe it. Use papers from previous classes LOL! Never used Library card once in 3 years at ECC LOL

Professor Newman is great!If you are confused with the subject, just ask him; he will explain it all; he is very helpful. Besides that, he has also good sense of humor. Take his class!

had this guy in a joint art class, he is a true educator, he won't lecture you in a didactic way, he's a true critical thinker, how do you think he got into Northwestern Law school? His class is a lot of work, it's mostly writing, he is willing to do letter of recs., he's open minded, just the best teacher at ECC period; take him for a gen ed.

The lectures are quite long. He can tend to ramble about various topics. Overall I thought I was going to hate Political Science, but some of his stories were very interesting and I learned new information in his class. He is rather opinionated and can be difficult to understand, but if you ask a question nicely he usually answers clearly.

Took him for political science. I went into this class thinking it was going to be simple since I have taken government in high school and middle school. He gives you all the assignments up front, but the assignments don't relate to government at all. IF YOU ARE A VISUAL LEARNER, DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT TAKE HIM.

Although he doesn't give tests, he does assign lots of papers. He required four exams(each averaging 4 individual essays) and the final exam was a compilation of all of those exams along with 10 new essays. His lectures are long(and monotone). His directions and feedback were often confusing. He does let you redo papers if turned in on time.

Newman is a good Professor, his lectures often does not cover the papers you are writing at current moment, he is very clear on that if you fail his course requirements, it is on YOU. other than that he wants to be helpful, nd he is funny at times despite saying he doesn't care about the students.

I LOVED taking Dr. Newmans class!! He is very funny and charismatic. The only thing that I found a bother, was the sheer amount of papers, and the sometimes hard to understand instructions. The four papers themselves were not very hard though, and if you have him read your paper before its due, he will tell you exactly what to fix to get an A.

he is awesome, i would take the class again he works in real world as well as works new in with the old for us to understand better. amazing person understands some people have lives, work and kids not just school.

I am now taking my 2nd course with Newman, and I love him. He has always been there for me. The POS 150 class is a different approach to government. It's not like high school government. I really learned a lot and feel like my college experience would be incomplete without taking his courses. He is close to retiring so take his class now.

NEWMAN ROCKS. 2 papers, not LOTS of papers. One you have the ENTIRE semester to work on, if u can't deal with that, then don't go to college. Tests are take home, take good notes. U get to work with a group on the one paper. He is available to you, he gives you all the tools you need, it's up to you. He is an amazing prof.! One of my favs!!

Newman was by far my favorite professor. He can seem intimidating, but as soon as you get to know him he is just like a cool old grandpa. He tells you everything you need to know. No tests, just essays, and all of the lectures give you everything you need to know. If you take notes/record his lectures, you will pass.

Newman is one of the best professors at ECC. He gives you all of the due dates for papers and exams on the first day and gives you straight forward information of whats on the exams. If you follow the guided notes he gives you and just listen and write a few things down, you're all set; His lectures are very easy to follow.

His syllabus seems confusing. You'll find he's an easy grader and doesn't mind if you stray from his criteria. Lectures don't correlate directly with assignments, you'll be researching assignments yourself. Don't take if you need very structured classes. Really nice guy, and always willing to help. Lets you rewrite papers for full credit.

Just finished the summer online class which entailed 5 exams, 2 papers & discussions. Exams are not hard if you listen to his lectures closely & write answers in detail. He also gives you a "rubric" that you should follow to answer the test questions, so you know what he is looking which helped a lot. He was an easy grader and gave good feedback.

Prof. Newman is a special breed or professor, he is hilarious but his lectures are always packed with the information you need. Super sarcastic, funny, and VERY understanding. 1000/10 recommend pro tip: Record all the lectures, the answers to his tests are between the jokes he cracks during them!

Newman is probably the best professor you will ever get at ECC, or any community college for that matter. His lectures are interesting, hilarious, and jam packed with info. All his exams are take home essays you can do as many times as you need to for full credit, and he's an incredibly easy grader. Anyone with half a brain will ace his class.

One tough thing about this class is there are no power-points or handouts given. You have to gather all of the information outside of the class, on your own. Overall, I loved learning about different aspects of the world for this class. He was an amazing professor.

AMAZING!! He loves class participation and teaches through stories and lecture outlines. He's hilarious and genuinely one of the smartest people I know. Tests are easy (answers are word-for-word from lectures), and the main essay was actually fun to write. He treats you with respect and is very laid back. I want to hang out with him, he's so cool!

Professor Newman gets a reputation of being a very hard teacher; however, he makes his class pretty easy to pass. He allows retakes on every exam ("As many attempts it takes to get it right!!!"). He is a really funny guy who doesn't take life seriously! He's there if you have any questions about his assignments. Stop into his office hours!!!

Even though it may seem like a lot of work at first, unless you don't do any work on time, it's pretty hard NOT to pass. He allows you to retake every exam until you get an A. He also allows rewrites of two big papers that are assigned. Aside from two big papers, and exams, there is basically no homework at all.

While his lectures may be a little confusing, Professor Newman was one of the nicest professors I have ever had. He never assigned homework and the only work you needed to do is show up to class, be ready to answer questions and do the papers assigned. The papers were how your grade was determined and you can always rewrite them until you get an A!

This class had basically no homework outside of assignments and Professor Newman almost gaurentees that you will pass. You can rewrite all the essays and his grading is extremely straight forward. He's a super nice guy and the any of the help you need is easily accessible.

Great professor! The textbook was helpful for understanding assignments. Professor had us watch some videos and fill in some guided notes for homework. During class, we would discuss the chapters and guided notes. Definitely recommend!

The lectures can be a bit confusing but if you ask questions and check out his website, youll be okay. The HW is simple at times and you can definitely get an A in this class. Just show up to class and participate. Newman is also a pretty great dude so I definitely recommend him if you want something laidback and easy.

Great Professor. Zoom sessions are very boring, but the work is easy 5 exam essays that can be redone for full credit and two full essays the footnote one is long. Easy A.

One of my favorite professors! Had great energy & loved joking around with students. All exams are take home essays & youre allowed to cite directly from his lectures. Final exam is questions from other exams, you can copy & paste your answers. There are 2 incredibly long papers, but he helps & gives feedback. Can turn in many times for max credit

Professor Newman was an amazing professor to take. I was very nervous about going back to school to pursue a teaching endorsement on my license. He encouraged me and believed in me. I had two horrible events happen to me this semester, and Professor Newman was there for me. Take this guy! You will not regret it!!

This professor's class was relatively straightforward. Pay attention to the syllabus, do the discussion posts, and work on the research paper. He spreads out the parts of the paper so at the most you have half of the paper to procrastinate on.

Actually such a straightforward, nice guy! Great response times and everything is graded quickly. Can be confusing if you do not keep up with the syllabus as he doesn't post what is due each week so you must be self-sufficient to succeed.Two exams, worksheets as discussion post(do not need to repond to classmate), research paper throughout term!

Very fun course if you like politics, a lot about revolutions, professor was extremely nice. Pretty easy to do well there's an opportunity for 10% extra credit added onto your grade.

Professor Newman is a good professor with a straightforward class. There are weekly reflections, discussions, and four written exams, but they're pretty easy. The textbook, notes, and presentations really help, and there's also a song assignment. He responds to emails, gives helpful feedback, and overall, the class is manageable.
