he is the worst teacher in the world. not helpful. very useless. does not even teach.
he can't teach!!!! average test grade was an F!
bad...

really makes you think, i learned a lot-especially in his office hours. He does get frustrated with people who don't work hard.
Very hard prof. He's tests are really difficult, he doesn't joke around with them. However, he's very helpful if u go to his office hrs. Very nice guy, good teacher too, just hard.
Hard tests, if your not willing to work, don't take Chris, if you are, good teacher, fair, willing to work with you.
His tests are hard. But he doesnt give anything that's out of syllabus.I learned a lot in his class. His lectures are very important.Dont miss any of his classes.Take him if are good at math and also hardworking. He is tough but i liked his class.
hard tests - but problems come right from the practice list. He give you a chance if you work hard.
He is more helpful than others. He's alright.Class is hard but hey,its calc 4!
not a bad teacher He expects you to have a strong background, which is ok for calc I guess. He's really helpful and patient in his office hours. His tests are hard but right from the hw and his partial credit is awesome.
He works with you if he can see that you are trying. He will make very reasonable changes to help you and will do whatever he can to help you.
This dude is so freaking hard! He was giving us homework before he would teach us the MATH! Be Cautious
Easy class. His teaching is clear but if you're still struggling, he's willing to meet with you and the like. Good guy, helpful, good teacher.
Fascinating
Great worksheets and practice tests do them all and youll be ok on the tests
Really good examples and practice tests. Demanding - lots of work
do the practice tests and all the homework - if you do its easy, if you don't the quizzes will be hard
Homework is just copying definitions and he gives lots of help on group projects. His tests are just the same as his group activities and practice tests. He even really explains and shows you how to use that stupid caclulator
His tests are hard, but the reading homework and quizzes are pretty straitforward. He will help you as much as you need. He even came in on a Saturday to meet me at the math lab for a catchup tutoring session
Statistics 2023 online - Tough class, but I liked Chris. He'll give good examples and partial credit and a heavy enough weighting on the hw to offset the 4 tough test. Will help you with the calculator. Need a good work ethic to do well in here. An A is possible though.
I took this from someone else and it was all memorizing formulas and nonsense. Mr Ohrelien used real examples from his old test and worksheets and did a better job explaining every step of the problems and helping me remember what all the stat stuff on the calclator was for.
very helpful and fair. he really understands why poeple like me have trouble with math
I liked him. He is a visual teacher, like he'll draw the examples on the board. He really never assigns homework, and come test time, if you bomb it, he will let you re-take it. I thought he was a pretty cool teacher.
I really enjoyed the lectures, they made sense. Chris has a way of taking something complicated and making it logical. The only draw back was that I took a Fast Track and not a 16 week course. Very fastpaced and stressful. But worth it.
Chris is a pretty good teacher, very helpful, and grades tests fairly.
As always, he was well organized! His lectures are extremely helpful, and his tests are fair and relevant.
really well organised class He did good examples and then gave good feed back when we worked some problems too Not too much home work but enough to make you feel like the book and computer stuff was worth the money
Very helpful, fair, and well organized. Definitely recommend.
Great teaching style - good examples and feedback and tests right from homework.
I was scared of statistics before I took this class, but he made it seem like a walk in the park. He has a different way of teaching which helped me to understand a lot better. Show up and do the work and you can walk out with an A.
Chris made probablity and stats like common sense - using dice and cards and real world examples - study the worksheets and the practice tests - not super easy but fair (lots of stupid mistake chances - reading graphs and changing from decimals to percents)
Fair teacher. I would recommend.
fair and helpful but a little crazed at times
Hard class, but Chris made it accesible to nonmath people like me. I liked the projects with a lot of graphs and not as much algebra.
He's fine just lecturing and showing us exactly the steps to follow but I can't understand his worksheet assignments. If you're really an econ or accounting nerd, he's probably a great teacher.
Do all the My Math Lab homework and study the examples from the notes and its not that hard. He did let me make up some of the homework I forgot to finish - but too late to help for the test.
I got a lot more out of this class than I expected. Chris rearranged the topics for his lectures where they made more sense than the order in the book and he gave us time to work on problems in class so we could ask questions.
He makes a very boring subject berable with things like dice and cards and group worksheets reading graphs and tables. He makes you write a lot and explain everything. You get used to what he wants pretty quick though.
hard problems - tests and quizzes straight from the problems list - Maple is weird but cool sometimes too
Great teacher. Do the MyMath Lab HW and you will do great on the tests.
He really cares about us succeeding and will help you until you understand it and he has different ways of explaining it from the book or the computer help.
Extremely helpful, he trully cares about his students and their success. Calss was really easy, tests were exactly what the homework was over. He explains the problems and forumlas really well and is glad to slow down if need be. He certainly goes above and beyond what is required of a college professor. Definitely take his class!!!
There is no slacking in this class. You have to work hard and study. I do not recommend taking the fast track stat course. Although he is very helpful and very eager to explain the material, it is a lot to take in in 5 weeks.
Bus calc II with Oherlein was so much better than my calc I - he actually explains things and gives time in class for you to work problems and ask questions. He does quizzes over a few sections at a time and no big exams.
Prof. O is a great teacher who moves slowly and makes sure everyone is on the same page. I'm taking a prep course: college prep 4, but I love it. He breaks it down wonderfully and is a really nice guy. In our class are the people who don't like math and are bad at it. He has to be very patient, and is.
All the stats language and formulas get weird and hard to understand. Prof O's examples and class group activities help you understand it in regular words and real situations. Be precise on quizzes and the portfolios because he expects you to have it altogether by then. A little slow grading stuff but you always kind of know where you stand.
great at what he does explains it well and he even looks a little bit like zack gallifinakis which will entertain at least for the first couple weeks ha very fair at grading as well
Professor O is greatand cute in a si-fi nerd kinda way. I am enjoying his and he has actually found a way to make contemporary math fun. If it were possible I would choose him for my other math courses as well. We play games and work in groups which helps to make the class more interesting. There are like 2 tests. Take this class!
Great professor. Had a good time in class. Was very helpful. Workload wasn't too much. Loved the group work especially!
this is the most awesome math class ever! i am not a math person but prof O explained everything very well and the group work helped me alot. plus it was low stress with not few tests and homework and group work counting for most of the grade. he is a great person would love to take him again!
I very much appreciate Mr. Oehrlein. Stats was a very hard class for me (it is very conceptual) and he made it doable. He maintained easy office hours to reach him on, and even though I felt dumb he did not treat me as such. I got a B in the class. On a side note, if you take Myrick, whom I had for ECON, you will want to kill yourself.
Chris is a great professor he made math to where i could understand it and he would offer extra help if i needed it
A bit peculiar. Could use a breath mint from time to time. Overall very helpful & knowledgeable. He genuinely cares that you "get it."
taken this twice before with teachers who just wrote formulas and definitons on board and expected us to learn how to do problems on our own - Mr O is involved and cares and does examples that help you understand how to do the book problems
Overall nice caring professor. Doesn't clarify enough for me and did not have our grades for all semester till the last day of class. Still liked his class though and would recommend!
This was an Intro to Stats Class. I started online, but it was hurdled by lack of book, then software etc. I decided to go to class. Great teacher, not an easy class for me, and I really got confused a lot. Chris however did his best to help and basically said you will get the grade that you earn!!
serious problems with the computer system but Chris helped me overcome that with a lot of patience and helpful reviews
Sooo much better than calc I at OU. He only lectures over the really important material and then spends the rest of class helping you work problems out of the book or on worksheets he made. Picks the hardest problems from hw to put on test, but gives good partial creddit.
hard tests and must show work and write answers in sentences, but he does give a lot of time in class to practice and ask questions - wish he'd lectured just a little more like maybe one more example of each type of problem
Professor Oehrlein is a wonderful teacher! His lectures are interesting and he is willing to answer any questions you may have. He is different than some of the other CPM teachers in that he isn't an organization Nazi. He does check notebooks, but isn't totally focused on it. If you aren't super organized, he is the perfect choice. Love him!
Professor Oehrlein was very helpful! I would definitely recommend him for Calc II! He makes himself available and answers any questions you may have!
He is AWESOME! I have him for Success in College & Life. He is a Awesome adviser. He is easy going & helpful. We get a participation grade. Light homework load. Cares about his students & wants to help us succeed.
I took his college algebra class, he seems like a really nice guy, however I am not a fan of his teaching techniques. This class was an 8 week course and in just the first three weeks of class he cancelled class three times. His tests are nothing like the hw and quizzes that help you study. If you don't already know this stuff you will fail.
Finally a math teacher who explains how and why the equations work instead of making it look like magic. He covers a lot and expects you to really know the stuff from the remedial class . Wish he gave more tests
I took him for Business Calc and was very disappointed. He cancelled class more times than he was there. The lectures were very short and of little help. We did three assignments the whole semester. As long as you show up, do the homework, and at least somewhat know what you are doing on the tests, you will be fine. Don't expect to learn much.
Took a hybrid college algebra class and wanted to give up. He genuinely wants to help you pass! Skipped quite a few classes, took a couple of test thinking I was gonna be fine and totally bombed them, but he made sure I was able to pass the last one! That definitely helped a lot!
Taught Diff Eq well. Gave class work and people worked on it in groups and he would assist you. Hard homework. Easy tests. Do the work, go to class, Easy A.
really good organization to class with lots of chances to earn back points lost on test - but gotta work for them on retests and finals
Spent many hours going over stuff with me and gave us chances to work out our problems in class. Vocab is hard in stats but prof Chris uses good examples. I wish this was regular class not hybrid
He made us work thru examples ourselves to practice understanding it espcially the wording
Mr O teaches the main points from the start and you practice them all thru the class
Mr O teaches the main points from the start and repeats them in each new unit
Not really online, but hybrid half online and half in class. Online assignments are reading questions and reflection questions which are like how well you understand the concept not the calculating part. Test study guides and inclass group work are a lot like the test questions but tests are graded harder.
Very knowledgeable and caring professor. He obviously knew how to teach the class and was very lenient on due dates. He was quite fair when it came down to scheduling test, and giving us opportunities to make up point on them.
Did not explain anything well. What we did in class was not what was even on the test. I am an A student and had to withdraw from this class so it wouldn't effect my GPA. Do not recommend.
I could always do good enough math to get through my classes in high school and at OU but I got Ohrlein when I had to retake buscalc this summer and he made everything make sense. I came back tto otrip to take buscalc 2 from him.
This professor made Bus Calc II easy and fun. There were no exams, it was a hybrid class, but there were quizzes, class work, and reflection papers that you can only complete if you participate. He is an expert in his field, and as long as you don't mind reading, doing your homework, and apply yourself, you will learn a lot, and get a good grade.
Took for Intro to Stats. One of the toughest classes I have taken so far. Not sure if its stats or the professor! He did give a little bit of extra credit, and he tried to be funny. He is nice, but I had a hard time understanding stats even after I asked him questions. I got an a thanks to my group work partners help.
I took his physics class and had him for lab. Overall, he is a great person because he really wants to educate students through illustrations or numerous examples that are worked on the board. He allows us to work on assignments in groups occasionally. In addition, he is lenient on exams and will go over problems before the test. I highly recommend
i took him for stat and his teaching was not clear. he never explains things. we have to take MC hill code and learn form there. he has a lot of group project but you will be very lost because all he does in the class is let you do the problems and will not help you do the problem. you will barely find him explaning things.
Hybrid class (half online-Half class) Most of class time is spent doing group work. rarely does lecture. Tests (quizzes) are not procured and you get multiple attempts. You can easily get an A if do your homework. You get participation points for coming to class. It will be helpful towards the end of the semester. Heard other stats teachers arehard
Worst class ive ever taken. Be prepared to learn the entire class on your own time because he never lectures. Class consists of him giving you worksheets to work on with other students. He never teaches ever! He gets so behind and it just gets confusing. I am surprised I passed the class. Avoid this professor!
I took the hybrid class (half online half lecture). Lectures are just group work. You get like 8 attempts on quizzes. Honestly just do your work and you should get an A in this class. This course was the least of my worries this semester. Lots of extra credit too.
Amazing Lecturer, He gives you work in Moodle and connect. He gives you quizzes and multiple tries to get it right Class work to be submitted and homework Overall I think he is a great
I wish I could take him for all of my classes! He doesnt lecture much and the group work scared me, but its awesome. Small zoom so everyone gets to know each other and hes very helpful. The class is SO easy. Take it!!
Professor Oehrlein is easily one of the best professors I've had the privilege of learning from, he genuinely cares about his students. Even if you're awful at Physics, I would recommend taking this class. Even if you fail all the tests you'll pass because he gives points in so many other places. He is by far my favorite professor at OCCC.
This professor is one of the better ones I have ever had. I was worried about passing after doing poorly on one of the problem sets and he let us attempt it again for partial credit. Every class will begin with a small lecture before going into group work and he was always popping in checking on how we were doing and if we needed any help. A++
ODE wasn't too bad over the summer, Prof O is accessible outside of office hours, everyone works in groups to get the classwork done, and he is a caring person. The problem sets we didn't weren't too challenging. Biggest piece of advice, either review natural log and exponentials before this class or immediately take this class after Calc 2
10/10 professor
Prof O is great - accessible, caring, and makes the content manageable. Group work helps too. For prep, reviewing natural logs and exponentials ahead of time is a big plus. Unstuckstudy also proved really helpful for study prep.
