Chris is a great guy and knows his math. Though often disinterested by students, he faithfully teaches math each class, no matter who's listening. Not a super hard class due to his numerous opportunities to make stuff up. Would definitely take again.
He is a great math professor who is very easy going with due dates. Unlike other math professors he let's you work on the homework during the lecture which is very helpful.
Pretty good teacher
He is the amazing math teacher on GCU ground I would encourage everyone to take him but leave an extra spot for me :)
He's the chillest guy ever. Show up, have your computer open, do homework during the lectures, bring food to share, leave early if you need to. And he'll answer any question and go through it with you one on one no matter what!
He's a good teacher. He'll always answer questions and he's very friendly. His lectures are easy to get lost in because he's not very enthusiastic about class, but he's very chill at deadline extensions and things like that. As long as you learn the math, there's no reason you can't get an A and be happy with the class.
He is a very understanding. His explanations are clear and comprehensible. Overall, this professor is pretty cool.
It's hard to find a chill teacher who actually knows what they're talking about. Petersdinh is one of them. He has a pretty dry personality, but who really cares if he teaches you the content and understands sometimes life happens? One of the best professors I've had at this school so far.
Although attendance is not mandatory, you won't be prepared for assignments without the lectures. Chris is amazing! You may need to speak up and ask questions but he answers them and is very kind! He provides students with a wonderful review for exams. I highly recommend his classes!
Professor Petersdinh is an amazing math teacher and I highly recommend taking his classes. He understands when you need extra time on homework and answers any and all questions. He is approachable and makes it easy to talk to him.
Very hard Professor to understand. Whenever i have asked questions in his class, i become even more confused when he answers them. Prof Petersdihn is not an interactive teacher, he is very dry and bland and has a monotone voice. He had an assistant for a day and he turned out to be more helpful and more easily understood than Chris.
Mr. P is very caring and you can tell he really wants his students to do well. He is always willing to help, always available for students and he takes as much time with you as you need.
Very sweet guy. You will do well if you try. He will give you points back on certain homework problems if you were close or mistyped. He's a great teacher. Easy A.
The class was overall super easy. The lectures were easy to follow along with and he's always tries to make small jokes so the class isn't bored which was appreciated. He was a very good professor in my opinion.
Chris is the best! He does not give exciting lectures, but he can be funny and he is a really nice guy. on weeks when we had online quizzes, we only had to go to class once the whole week to receive full participation points. he allows re-dos on some quizzes and worksheets. I definitely recommend taking his class for an easy A.
Honestly, I would totally recommend him. If you're a procrasinator, he will completely understand and give you a chance to turn in your work at a later time. The problem I have is that I hate math so if I get a bad grade, it will be completely my fault because the class is easy to not fail. So if you fail, that is your fault because he is so sweet
This class wasn't exciting, but as far as math goes no one is better. He is clear, provides plenty of examples, is easily accessible, and cares about his students. If you struggle with math, he is a great teacher to have.
Professor Petersdinh is a good teacher who knows what he's doing. He cares about his students and really wants them to succeed. Very accessible outside of class and will help you if you ask for it. The only downside is that he occasionally posts the wrong grade online and his lectures tend to be somewhat boring. However, I definitely recommend him.
This course is not very difficult at all. There are no exams, and half the time he tells you not to come to class. Professor Petersdinh explains everything very well, and provides alternate ways to solve problems if you don't understand. A great professor and an easy class -- awesome combo!
He is very laid back and people take advantage of him and sign in and then walk out as he is talking. He is really nice and he teaches great. lots of homework and quizzes are the easy part.
He is a great teacher. I had him for Math 144 and that class was incredibly easy. You do not need to go to class to understand what is going on. Just show up to sign in and you can leave. No exams or test. Just quizzes (online in excel) and homework every other week. Huge mission project that you will want to do extremely well on. overall great!
Mr. Petersdihn was a great teacher. Offered lots of feedback and always helped when something wasn't clear. All of the assignments were very clear and easy to get 100% on. He's also really funny and caring for his students. Would definitely take again
Not a hard class at all. I had him for MAT144, had class with him 2x a week. The assignments are very straightforward. He does give good feedback and is helpful when you ask questions. Participation is essential at times. There are times when you can show up once a week and your good.
Super sweet teacher. Will practically do the quizzes and worksheets for you and he will break down problems on the homework for that week. Homework is online but it lets you do it over until it is correct. On the weeks that you have quizzes, if you finish it on the first class day you don't have to show up to the second class.
Took Summer 7 week course. Very quick, you will need to study and ask questions. Makes things very easy to understand. Chris is very caring and will allow redo quizzes and hw. Super chill. 7 week course was a bit too condensed and went by fast, but is doable. All quizzes and hw are unlocked early, so I can work on week 7 stuff on week 1. Solid!
He was a great professor. Super kind and knows what he's talking about. It's an easy class and what he is looking for is clear for assignments. Easy A.
I had Professor Chris P for Mat144 and he has been nothing but great! He really knows what he's teaching and he cares about every student in the room. Great instructor, I will definitely take him again if I can.
Really easy class. You just have to show up and half pay attention and you'll get an A. He makes the material easy and is also willing to help you out when you need help. He posts the powerpoints as well which makes it easy to follow and go back.
He was nice but I didnt get to much out of the class because it was pretty basic and easy.
Great Professor. The material is very basic, although the quizzes can be confusing. Do the major assignments and you'll be fine.
Tough class to take online but this professor made it bearable.
Although he seemed timid, he was a helpful instructor. Going to class mattered because the weekly lectures would be about the homework or quiz that week. He was a fair grader and I would recommend him.
Not too bad. I just hate math so
He covered the basic concepts in class. He take participation and their are participation assignments due, but if you do these you are golden on your major assignments which are a lot of points. Start early on homwork as there are 40+ questions due every other week. He is super willling to help you understand the concepts. Quizes matter!
Super nice guy. 100% would recommend for math 144 he gives you literally everything you need to do every assignment. Nice guy who trys really hard and is super nice and available. From asking others no ones gives as much help or instructions for assignments like he does. Also posts his slides before class
Hes super nice, gives all the PowerPoints and things needed to do the assignments. Gives you formulas for most tests, easy to get a hold of and will answer all questions. Finally the best thing is for your last major assignment which is worth about 25% he has you do list of it little by little before hand so its easy at the end.
Petersdinh was a solid professor. I don't like math in general, but I thought it was a moderate level class. Talking to others, I by far had the best math teacher. He gives clear instructions and lectures and is approachable after class if/when you have questions. There is some projects and tests, but if you stay on top you should be good.
Prof. Petersdinh is a pretty average professor. He teaches the class well and knows what he is doing, but I personally didn't enjoy the class. I had already learned all of this stuff a million times in high school and he is very boring so it was hard for me to stay focused. Other than that it's an easy A and he is very helpful when you need it.
Petersdinh is an excellent professor, and he was very helpful and caring. We had lots of homework and a quiz every other week, but that was the curriculum. He responds quickly and will answer any of your questions kindly. Very repetitive course from high school, but it is an easy A if you go to class and do what you are supposed to.
Take this guy as your math -144 teacher! He provides you with step by step videos for DQs and even the major assignments! The homeworks were okay, they took a bit time to do. The quizzes were taken from the HW questions so keep that in mind. This professor was very understanding in everything and he was always quick to reply! He was the best.
I really appreciated the videos he made with PowerPoint for each lesson. It made it really easy to do all the assignments from home during this hybrid class format with covid. He explains things very well and is very kind. I'm happy to be taking precalculus with him in the Spring.
Professor Petersdinh is a good professor when it comes to assigning homework and quizzes. As for actually teaching the material, I did not find him helpful. I ended up searching online for explanations on how to do my homework rather than using the provided videos and slides. If you are naturally gifted in math, this class will be a breeze.
When I had him as my professor COVID just started so I wasn't able to go in person to class because he was scared and then he didn't have any zoom for an option either. I basically had to teach myself until the final day came along.
I think a lot of these reviews are over board. He is very nice and if you message him personally he WILL help you. The homework is due every TWO weeks. Lots of time to get things done, plus the major assignments which he provides you with resources and explains how to do every single part. I honestly only went to his class 3 times and passed easily
I do not recommend taking his class. He really did not teach anything to his students since he would just read the slides that were in his presentation. There did not seem to be any point in going to class since he posts videos and slide shows. I would leave class each week wishing that I did not go.
I definitely lucked out with Petersdinh in comparison to all my friends profs. He incorporated Excel and helped with the major assignments early on in class. I learned a lot in his class and I was able to apply my new Excel knowledge to a lot of my classes following MAT-144. I would definitely recommend taking his class.
A very flexible and understanding professor (especially during COVID). He gives points back on tests if you formatted the answers wrong. He tries to make his lectures interesting, but they can be a bit boring sometimes. Also, he is very quick at communicating if you have any concerns. He is a great professor.
Prof Petersdinh is an outstanding, solid choice for a Prof. I suck at math, but he made MAT144 enjoyable, engaging, and fun. We focused a lot on Excel, which is a practical skill that I will really benefit from. If you are bad at math, afraid of doing a university math class, or worried about your grade, Prof Petersdinh is the right choice for you.
Really nice professor! He understands we are always busy anyways homework is due every 2 weeks and lectures are easy!
I typically have a really hard time in Math class, esp in College but Professor Petersdinh, was beyond helpful. He would answer everyone's questions promptly and would even reanswer the same questions if need be. His PowerPoint slides are easy to follow esp for the major math assignments. As long as you attend class and do the hw, the tests r easy
Really great professor! Hes super nice and explains things so well! Swapped professor half way through the semester, so I feel I couldve gotten a better grade if I had him all semester! Definitely take his class if you can!
Professor Petersdinh is very cautious of COVID, so he did not require attendance this semester. All of the course material was on ALEKS and was highschool level math. I wish I would have taken a higher math.
He's kind and very flexible. Even though he's a really nice person, I found his lectures to be kind of boring. He spoke quietly (maybe the mask's fault), but he explained things fairly well. I visited his office hours a lot and he was super helpful there because he explained things clearly. A good professor, but kind of boring lectures.
Professor Petersdinh was a really great professor that I had for my freshman year math. He was very helpful, took time to answer questions and explain the major assignments. I would recommend.
Prof. Petersdinh is a solid and adaptable professor. He was quite understandable and willing to make changes in lieu of the COVID pandemic. I found most of the course last semester to be quite easy, as nothing in the tests will surprise you if you've done the work.
Professor Petersdinh was difficult to learn from in my opinion. I didn't learn from the way he taught the information, and he wasn't clear on his expectations. I do think that he tried, but I also think a good professor would have put more effort into helping their students succeed.
The lectures are boring but it is hard to make math fun. Just get to class and focus on the problems he works through in class and you will do good. He wants everyone to do well and it takes practice with this class. Multiple attempts on hw and quizzes really help! Would take again
This prof. was a good teacher. Lectures were a bit boring, but he gives slideshow presentations that are super easy to follow (helpful for the major assignments!) This class is pretty much HS math. try ur best on the knowledge check on ALEKS because it determines the basics you have to do for the rest of the semester which can lessen your workload
The best professor that is willing to help you succeed in this class.
Show up to class= easy to understand everything. The lectures can feel very long, but he usually lets us out early. All the lectures are easy to follow along, he will show step by step what is expected. The quiz is on ALEKS, same platform as homework. If you do the homework, you do well on the quiz. All instructions clear for major assignment,
(FALSE RANKING) has long ass PowerPoints in every class. Expect to learn trig in this pre calc class, if never taken trig before believe you will have to teach yourself since you will not learn anything in powerpoints. First week 25 topics in Aleks, not 25 questions, topics with 5-3 questions in each. EXAM HEAVY, will make or break your grade.
We're required to sign in for participation but also complete 4 hours in ALEKS. Homework and DQ's were due weekly and quizzes were every other week. There were also 3 major assignments that needed to be done but his powerpoints cover all the information. He also let the class choose to retake 1-2 quizzes at the end to try to improve grade.
The class itself is hard and has a lot of work just because its on ALEKS. However, if you have to take this class, I would recommend it with this professor. He is kind and willing to work with his students. His lectures are often long just because there's so much material to cover. He also doesn't call on anyone in class which is really nice.
This class revolves all around ALEKS online math program. So there is really not much in-person instruction from Mr. Petersdinh. When I did need his help, he was always quick to give it and helpful! He lets you work at your own pace and as fast or slow as you want! I got done with the entire class in just 5 weeks. He does require participation.
He's a very sweet guy, but he is just not personable with students. Ex. when there's 10/45 of us there, he won't really acknowledge it. Pre-calc took up all my time, you have to try VERY hard to get keep an A. However, he gave 30 extra credit points if we responded to DQs if you missed prev. points. He's chill, take him. Cool jokes on presentations
All homework and major assignments are thoroughly explained during class. Overall it's an easy course and the professor is open to answering any questions a student has.
I liked Mr. Petersdinh, he was very accusable outside of class and very helpful if you ask for help. The only thing he is lacking I feel like is like a human connection. Not quiet sure how to describe it. Overall a great professor though I highly recommend
Good prof that knows his math. Kind of a hard course because it is a survey of calculus for mainly bio majors but the class itself is structured so that if you spend time getting all the points possible on Matlab you will do fine. He is always willing to answer questions and go through the problems very slowly so the person asking can get it.
so, so, soooooooo easy.
Prof. Petersdinh is a really easygoing and laid back professor. He is professional, concise, and helpful. Your participation points derive simply from attending class. He often lets class out early, sometimes up to a full hour. His in-class examples and problem applications are very helpful. No issues with him at all.
Professor Chris Petersdinh is an amazing professor. He does a great job explaining all topics and throughout the lecture he gives problems for students to work on. He will then go through the correct way to solves these problems which helped tremendously on the homework. I would take this professor for the rest of my math classes if possible.
Best Math Prof, really wants you to be done with Calc and is willing to help you understand a high level of math.
He is a really good professor. He cares about his students. Lectures can be a bit boring but other than that the work is fairly easy, tells you step by step how to do them and has many examples for homework. Just do good on the initial knowledge check in the beginning so you have less topics to do.
Chris Petersdinh is the best math professor I've had at GCU. He's funny and teaches the content very well. The class is mostly just using ALEKS, but if you think you should've gotten partial credit all you have to do is ask and he will most likely give it. He also gave extra credit to make up for lost participation points and I got full points back
I had never used excel before this class, but he gives you all the resources you need to complete assignments how he wants regardless of your experience level. I often worked ahead which was so helpful. He is so nice, class is pretty chill and he doesn't make you stay the hour and a half but you can stay to do homework if you want to.
You can't go wrong with Professor Petersdinh. He's super chill and nice. Gave extra point opportunities at the end of the semester. Always upbeat. More on the quieter side but he was great.
Prof Petersdinh is extremely laid back. There is an attendance sheet, but he is very understanding of absences and other potential holdups. He teaches quick, gives meaningful examples, and almost always lets class out early -- sometimes a half hour or more. Take him if you struggle with math, or want an easy A.
Professor Petersdinh is a great professor to take if you struggle in math or just want an overall laid back class. He is super nice and is really easy to access if you have a question out of the classroom. Awesome professor 100% recommend.
He's extremely chill and laid back. He gives opportunities to earn participation points back at the end of the semester if you miss a few days. He is quiet but everything in this class was on ALEKS. He always stayed back after class if anyone had questions.
He was a very good professor, super helpful when you asked for anything. Willing to adjust quiz scores and give back points/half points. He rounded my final grade up to an A. Class usually lets out 30-45 minutes early. He is chill, a bit quieter but great guy. Classes are a little boring but you can do homework. I would recommend him to anyone.
*I TOOK MAT364, NOT 264* For his first time teaching differential equations, I believe petersdinh did a good job. It's a tough class and the homework was very difficult at points, but he was an easy professor to work with and was lenient with giving extensions. The lectures were a little boring at times, but ultimately he did fine.
Not that bad of a teacher, but his instructions are confusing, and his feedback is very vague. You are also completely on your own for this class, he doesn't provide any actual teaching just the assignments and grades.
He was so kind and was always willing to help students out. There was a misunderstanding with my grade that was completely my fault, and he was very generous and willing to work with me. I would highly recommend taking his class!
I enjoyed Professor Petersdinh class MAT154 even as someone who have a distaste in math. I took this class 100% online. Hes easily accessable and a pretty laid back professor not really caring about word count for the participation and makes the participation easy by posting questions to answer. Good professor would take agian.
