I think a lot of his students are brats and don't know how to work for a grade. He's not a terrible guy, finance is just not an easy subject and there is a lot of content to cover in a short period of time. He drops a homework grade and a quiz grade, and he gave an extra credit opportunity on the first test. He's a solid professor imo.

This class isn't a walk in the park, but it's survivable. Do the extra practice problems he posts on CSEPub and the old practice exams on eLC, they give you a taste of what exams will be like. Start studying in advanced. Put in the work and you will be fine. Make sure you go to class and pay attention.

Don't let other reviews scare you. This class is cake. Tests were exactly like last years tests (which he posts) so making an A is literally nothing. Everyone who rates badly probably didn't come to class or study for the tests. Dr. Pope is also pretty funny in class and was always nice when we spoke. This class is not even half as hard as ACCT.

I didn't get skoolers and easily made an A. Go to class every day, take notes, do the homework each week (worth 33% of your grade), and study a few days before the test. I highly recommend going through your notes and completing 3 practice tests that he posts. If you understand the practice tests, you will definitely make A's on the tests.

Professor Pope is very knowledgeable about the course material and finance in general. The material is not always easy to understand, & how he explains certain topics can be confusing. Finance 3000 is a challenging course to begin with. Attendance isn't mandatory, but you NEED to go to class in order to get the "current events" that he talks about because they will be on the test. Your grade is broken into two tests and homework. Homework is basically a completion grade; you just need to sit down for 1-2 hours a week and do it.

There are two tests (worth 300 points) and homework (worth 150 points) with an optional final if you do bad on a test. Little room for error.

I took this online during the summer and I am really glad I did. I am much better with online classes and being able to go at my own pace rather than sitting in class. I withdrew from FINA3000 in the spring because it was too much for me and since I took it in the summer and was able to take my time learning, I ended with an A.

You HAVE TO GO TO CLASS TO PASS. Idc that attendance is optional, this man teaches at the speed of light and you need to come to class with his note packets printed out and hang on his every word. Know this content inside and out before tests, including the minute details or current events. He obviously knows his stuff, but he makes it tough.

Pope is disliked for no reason. If you go to class and do the homework without cheating you'll do fine on the tests. Skoolers is a complete waste of money for this class. He provides endless problems on ELC and has extra credit options for both tests. Just apply yourself and show up and you will do great.

Hot take, but this is an easy class if you put in the work. He posts all of his old exams with answer keys. Just go through a few exam answer keys and learn the content that way and then take as many practice exams as you can. There arent trick questions on the test, so just keep taking practice exams to learn each question type.

He's a good teacher, but you have to go to class, 5-10 questions on the exams are from random things he mentions in class. I would highly recommend Skoolers but you can definitely pass without it. just do a lot of the practice and start studying 1 week in advance. Only graded on 2 tests and homework, and you do NOT want to have to take the final.

The class really isn't that diffcult if you just go to the lectures. You are only graded on weekly homework assignments and two tests.

Honestly, Professor Pope is a good teacher. Finance is just a somewhat difficult class. There weren't really any other options to take, so I took him. The material is difficult sometimes, but tests aren't too bad and usually kind of similar to the homework. Genuinely nice guy, too. I'd 100% take him over some of the other teachers.

Go to class and lock in during lectures and while completing homework assignments. You'll do well if you do enough practice consistently, but this isn't the kind of class you can cram for in a day or two. Dr. Pope's lectures are pretty clear cut, print out the notes ahead of class, go to class consistently, and review notes after each class
