If you do an outline on the chapter before class and then look at her powerpoint; go to class and highlight the overlaps, you're good to go :)Only time you use the textbook is when you're doing your outline on your own time.

Very clear in class. Powerpoint slides are pretty much exactly like the book. Overall the class is pretty easy.

Very easy class if you put in an average amount of effort. There's no reason anyone should get less than a B. Her tests are more complicated than the powerpoints, but if you supplement with reading and studying out of the book they're easy. I'd definitely recommend her!

I'll be honest, I hate most sciences and I still do, but this class was definitely tolerable. She's pretty good with answering questions during office hours and lectures are pretty clear. Tests are difficult and require some textbook reading but are manageable. She offers alot of extra credit as long you attend class.

Her class isn't hard, and you don't even need to go to class, she basically reads straight from the powerpoint, with minimal explanation. her tests aren't too bad, look over powerpoints and key concepts she posts. Lots of Extra credit if you go to class. Final is a 24 Chapter Cumulative. PICK A LATE LAB! all tests are taken in lab except the final.

LOVED THIS CLASS! Biology will always contain a lot of terms and concepts but with this professor she makes Biology very interesting and "to the point." She provides chapter concepts, videos, power points etc ALL YOU NEED and MORE! She is very smart and wish she would teach all of my other science courses I will need in the future!

This class was very easy! I ended up with over 100% because there was so much extra credit. Lab was a joke, but attendance is mandatory. She tries her best to explain things, but she mostly just rambles. I used the AP Barron's book to study for the tests. You should always go because she does random extra credit questions.

She is a good teacher and this class isn't hard. Lectures can be boring but pay attention and you should do fine on the tests. Tests were based on powerpoints and thing she says in class. I have gotten A's on all of my tests just from studying off of those notes and the book. Studying is obvious so don't be lazy. Attendance is semimandatory, if you don't go you lose iClicker points, but they're only worth 5% total anyways. If you want an good Bio prof take Dr. Diercksn.

You have to get her! She is very clear and concice, her teaching method includes only teaching you what you need to know out of every chapter. I went through the entire class without reading the textbook, just based off of her powerpoint lectures, which she posts online. I ended the class with an 85%.

Class has changed from previous semesters in the sense that she no longer curves and that attendance is mandatory (makes up 5% of your grade). Overall, I found the course a little tricky but I went to SI and Sarc sessions which helped me get an A in the class. Also, review your lab for the week before going to lab. You will be quizzed off it!

Easy compared to other teachers, but absolutely hated the fact that attendance was 5% of our grade. You can definitely do well without needing to go to her very boring lectures.

EXCELLENT PROFESSOR! At first I was scared to take this class but she explains the material clearly, and is happy to answer questions. Study guides, & PP are great & no surprises on her tests. Very happy with the class & I earned a B! Study hard though, this is not an easy class!

Really nice professor. Lectures are very clear although dull. No need to buy the book, questions come from PPs. To get an A I went to most classes to get iClicker points, went to SI sessions, and went to all the labs. SI sessions in particular are really helpful as a test review and you can hear another person's way of explaining things.

Clear lecturer and fair professor. Focus on her slides and reviews for the tests - I stopped studying the book after Test 1 and got As on all the tests. Gives out some easy points with iClicker. Make sure you do well in lab as well. This class isn't that hard.

She is a very straight forward teacher. Her tests are exactly like the slides, as well as the detailed study guide she puts up before each test. She is very sweet during her office hours. The only bad thing about her is she can sometimes talk to fast, but you have the power point up either way. She tries to make bio interesting for the students.

Dr. Diercksen is a wonderful teacher. If you're thinking about taking Bio 1, take it with her. She's so nice and willing to help and is very straight forward about what she expects from you. You use iclickers that are worth 5% of your grade so you have to show up for class if you want credit. Overall she's a really great teacher.

As this being my first term at UCF I'm glad I had this professor. Her class was amazing focus on the study guides and concept keys that she gives online if you study those you are sure to pass with an A.

She was great at explaining everything thoroughly. Just from going to class, the concepts become very clear. The powerpoints and notes online helped me pass with an A on every exam, and I just studied them right before the test. I would recommend her.

Dr. Diercksen is an overall great biology teacher: she is helpful and very quick when emailing. What you put in for the class is what you will get out. I never read the book and did fine on tests. Powerpoints are all online, only need to go to class for iClicker points. You WILL have to study for tests, but they are not impossible.

The teach pretty much gives you all the info you'll need for the exams online via study guides. The lab/lectures were pointless (to me).I'm good at teaching myself so I slept thru the lecture/lab; I only attended because they were mandatory. An ebook version is cheaper and will suffice for the class. We did need the book for a few lab assignments.

Very good professor. She wasn't even meant to teach this class, but the original professor backed out at the last second. Has a genuine passion for her field and this transmits into her teaching. Although tests were free response, she prepared well enough to make them seem easy.

Dr. Diercksen is amazing!! She is such a great teacher and loves biology. Attendance is mandatory, don't buy the book- I didn't and ended up with an A. I had this professor MWF 8:30-9:20am and I don't know how she could always be so well dressed and enthusiastic to teach. Attendance isn't mandatory and honestly it isn't needed in order to get an A. However, attendance does count as 5% of your grade. As long as you study her study guides you can make a B+. Just don't be lazy!Plus she's nice!

She is really nice and helpful. To be honest, if I was studying like I was supposed to in the beginning, I could have gotten an A. All you need to do is study the study guides and you'll do fine. You don't need the book. Class isn't mandatory, but there's clicker points, which can make a difference in your grade if you're on the borderline.

Easy for a Biology Class. Tests are directly from the study guides. Did not open the book once and got an A-. Did my fair share of studying but thats with any Bio class. Dr. Diercksen explains everything well and is easily understood if you put some effort in. Definitely recommend this teacher.

She is easily the best bio teacher at UCF. She gives you a completed study guide of what will be on the tests. I never looked in my book. Study the study guides and you should make an A. She is very kind and clear.

Biology couldn't be easier with her! Very helpful, and simplifies lots of concepts. Also, she puts up really concise study guides that, using them solely, got me an A on every test. Just make sure not to neglect lab. I did, and wound up with a B overall.

Genetics is just inherently an easy elective so this really was a super easy A. Barely studied before each test - maybe the night before or morning of and got high A's on each test. Just pay attention in class and you'll absorb the info there. Homework reflects test questions. Tests are all free response which was actually beneficial. Nice prof.

I had a hard time paying attention to her during lectures, but if you sit in the front, she explains concepts pretty well. Her test are a bit difficult but she provides study guides and her power points online. You don't need to open the book. I would take her again.

Best Bio professor. Attendance is not mandatory, but it is 5% of your grade so recommended. She makes topics that seem SO difficult, easy to understand. Tests are not easy! Super detailed, but she posts a lot of study aids, so with effort, you will do great. She's super helpful and clear! Don't regret taking this class at all! Highly recommend.

Excellent professor. Tries to keep lectures interesting. She won't put anything on the test that she doesn't lecture on and the study guides she gives are very helpful. You do have to study a lot! It's a lot of content. Go to class for easy clicker points. She is also very nice and helpful during office hours.

Great professor to teach genetics. Small class because of honors allowed exams to be written and not multiple choice. You could get partial credit and there were lots of questions so you could get some wrong. She made genetics interesting and knows what she's talking about. Hard concept and had to study but very doable.

A great teacher but the tests are so hard, when you think you've studied enough... you haven't. Homework is easy and so is the labs. The tests are the only thing you have to really study for and it's all from her lectures.

She is super nice and always willing to help you out. Lectures can sometimes be boring but its all material that will be on the test. Tests can be hard so you will have to invest a lot of time studying.

I really enjoyed her lectures, she doesn't remind you of upcoming assignments due in mastering bio or the Lab (online), has at least 3 clicker questions a lecture and answering gives you points. She is very understanding if there are technical errors online somewhere that caused you to be unable to submit an assignment as long as you email her.

Didn't like this class. Her exams are pretty hard. The avg on each test was 16.325. Lab was online and it was easy but annoying. No extra credit given. She's good at explaining but her tests are fair way too completed. Study the study guides, concept keys, & possibly slides to get at least a B in her class. Oh, Exam 2 is the hardest exam.

Dr. Diercksen is a great professor! Take her! Like any biology course, it requires studying and effort, however Diercksen provides you with an abundance of study materials and is always willing to help during office hours. Class is mandatory because of clicker questions, however even if you get the clicker questions wrong you still get credit. Studied sooo much for exams, and went to SI to get help. Labs are monotonous because they are online, they should be easy grade improvers as long as you just do them. Put effort into this class and you'll get an A

She is very understanding and lenient, she gave me an extension on assignments missed. You must attend class as she does do clicker points every day. There is a good amount of online work required between her and the lab, and I found her tests to be very difficult actually. Study often & hard, and pay attention in class, its not an easy course.

This class is an easy A if you read the textbook, even though many people say not to. I got a 87 in the class without really trying. There are 4 exams, the lowest one is dropped and then you have the final which was really easy if you studied throughout the semester.

Tests are 25 questions and the questions are very specific and come from 5 chapters. final is easy if you;ve done okay throughout the class. i studied a whole week before the tests. if you take advantage of the SI and go into her office hours, she explains everything easier. lab sucks tho because its online but i loved the class.

A lot of online assignments for homework, make sure not to miss any. 5 or so exams in class. 1 dropped. I didn't get the text bc it wasn't necessary but you have to get the online code for Mastering biology. Overall good professor considering class was 400 people. I did not buy the book for this class because all of the info needed for tests could be found in lectures. However, I would suggest getting the book because the summaries at the end of the chapter are good review for the cumulative final. Also, write down when all assignments and labs are due. Dr. Diercksen thorough, interesting, and helpful.

She is an amazing teacher! I picked her for this course because I had her for BSC 2010 the previous semester and I am so glad for it. She is very straight forward and if you study the power points that are given and attend the lectures semi-regularly a high grade is for sure achievable.

If you're an upperclassman, (especially if you've taken Molec 1) this class is a BREEZE! Dr. Diercksen is a wonderful lecturer that is extremely organized and always prepared for lectures. Unfortunately, she does iClickers every class, so don't skip a lot. Also, there are online assignments that are participation only, so don't forget to do those.

This woman is so nice and from what I hear about other teachers, she is also the BEST intro. Biology teacher at the University. She gives you sooo many resources online and her doors are always open to help in office hours and you can email her questions online. She bases all of her tests only from material that she covered in class. So don't skip!

For me this was me this class was an easy A. You have to go to class for clickers. She has study guides and review sheets, so I never used the book. She drops the lowest test grade. She is really understanding at office hours, and responds to emails very fast. She always reminds you of everything, which most teachers don't do.

Pretty good lecturer. Tests are multiple choice and pretty easy if you are good at memorizing facts and understanding processes. Pre-lab is pretty good for learning and the SI review sessions were helpful. Make sure to stay on top of lab and do a little bit of studying for an easy A.

Diercksen is an amazing professor. Her lectures are very clear, her PowerPoint notes are very thorough, and her tests are fairly easy. I personally never used the book, although it does help to study off of it before exams. I used the chapter reviews she posts on webcourses and that alone was enough to get As on her exams. Would take her again.

my first advice go to class. get all those clicker points. Second when the semester is over dont even think about emailing her whatever you have is your grade and she wont budge it at all. the final is easier than all the tests but very long. the lab is an online sims game which is easy

I was afraid of going into this class since I'm terrible at hard sciences. Dr. Diercksen however made biology a lot more interesting than I ever thought. Her powerpoints and lectures were clear and detailed. Her tests were tough- you really have to put the time into study. Study hard and you'll pass. Oh and the final was a piece of cake!!

Four exams throughout the semester and one is dropped. No need for the textbook, just study the powerpoints and understand the concepts. Make sure to study for each exam because they do require the effort. Go to each class and receive your iClicker points in order to boost your grade. The final is an easy A. As someone who really dislikes biology, I found how she explains the material very helpful and she made it easy to obtain a good mark in the course

Dr. Diercksen was a great professor for BSC2010. The test were rather difficult, but she does drop one test. I made 80s on the first three tests and a 43 on the fourth (which was dropped). I made an 84 on the final exam for the class. The tests can be difficult and studying is a must to make a good grade.

Very nice. Didn't take attendance. Didn't require a book. Lectures were kind of long, but all of the material was on the powerpoints, which she also posted online. Intro to Marine Biology

I'm not good at hard sciences like biology or chemistry, I hate them in fact. However, Dr. Dierksen was incredible at making topics understandable. The virtual labs were extremely helpful and I found them pretty fun. I studied really hard for all the exams and managed A's on all of them, so it's by no means impossible. I really recommend her!

She is an awesome professor and makes this class so easy! She is clear on her lectures and her tests. Just make sure you pay attention to her slides and study and you should easily pass. Prof. Diercksen is wonderful, her class is both interesting and very do-able. If you are one to stay on top of assignments and pay attention in lectures, you won't have any problem getting a good grade in the class. There are in-class iclicker questions, so going to class is definitely more beneficial for your grade than skipping.

Your grade consists of 5 lecture exams (lowest dropped), 1 final, mastering bio assignments (w/ extra credit), iClicker questions in class, and online lab (which is an easy A). The final is way easier than the tests and the labs and mastering biology and clicker points saved me. Go to class and do your mastering bio and you'll be fine.

Participation isn't mandatory, but you get a grade for participating in class with a Iclicker. I got a C average on exams but my grade evened to a B with My Lab homework (answers online), Iclicker points, the lab, and final. The lab was online and easy. All answers in the background material and online. Tests based off solely in class Powerpoints.

She is a great professor who really seems to care about her students and loves marine biology. She was very straight forward and the material was relatively easy and interesting. I underestimated some of her exams. STUDY VOCAB.

Dr. Diercksen is by far my favorite professor at UCF. She is so caring, and explains things so clearly. Her exams are not "easy" necessarily, but EXTREMELY fair. Very detailed in her grading criteria. Genetics is no easy subject and study time is going to be required to grasp the concept. She was very helpful during her office hours and offers to meet with students outside of her hours if need be. Study her powerpoints, know the quiz questions, and study the end of chapter problems and you'll be golden

Dr. Diercksen really cares about her students. She's easily accessible outside her class for her office hours, but I always went to SI and my test grades went up at least a letter grade. Do your MasteringBiology quizzes, the extra credit always gives a boost to your grade and go to class because she explains the material well.

She is a really awesome teacher and really seems to care about her students. That being said, the class is really hard. The tests seemed to have been made for people who are experts on the topic of biology and chemistry, since a good chunk of this class deals with topics related to chemistry.

I took her class twice. It is definitely not easy but if you come, pay attention, print out the powerpoints and take notes and watch youtube videos during free time then you can pass easy. Lab is virtual and its awful. Not a lot of homework at all. You have to stay persistent. Easy to fall behind.

Prof Diercksen really does a great job considering that she teaches two four hundred student classes back to back. She's really sweet and caring and does her best to get her students to pass. Her powerpoints are online but you have to show up for clicker questions. Definitely would recommend her. It's an easy class and she's really nice

This class was awesome!! Getting an A was super easy. Homework was all online and simple; there were no quizzes. There were four main tests where one was dropped and the final was cumulative and basic. The lab is online and not difficult at all; just make sure you schedule time for it each week. Study powerpoints and study guides and you'll do gr8!

I finally learned how to study for Dr. Diercksen's class at the end of the semester. Can't lie my major's Biology so I naturally like this subject, BUT she is such an amazing teacher. If you need anything she offers so many resources. Her tests are passable, and she's a great person overall. If I see her name as an option in the future she's a no-brainer selection!

Diercksen is amazing. She loves biology and loves students, and really works with you when you have a problem. Attendance is graded with clicker questions. I found the book and mastering both be really helpful. Labs are online and super easy. Definitely recommend going to SI sessions. I wish I could take her for biology 2.

Homework assignment each week, but offers extra credit on most. 4 exams + final. Lowest exam dropped. It's by no means an easy subject but if you study hard and try to understand it all you will pass.

I rarely actually payed attention in class but would study her powerpoints before the test and did all of the homework to end up with an A, her tests are harder than most teachers.

Super nice and caring professor. Tests are really easy as long as you study her power-points and study guides that gives you. The final exam was a breeze and was worth just as much as a regular exam. Really cares about her students. Extra credit can be earned through the homework assignments which are also really easy.

I highly recommend taking her class! Tests are really easy and all you need to study are the power points that she posts online. All of the class participation clicker points can be done on your phone from anywhere. I never went to class and easily got an A.

Dr. Diercksen is super sweet! She actually cares about students learning and understanding bio. her tests arent super hard, but are very fair. study her powerpoints & study guides & at least a B is easy!

This professor provides so many resources that she makes it merely impossible to fail her class unless you do not study at all. She provides reviews for her exams, as well as an entire final exam review with answers. Her tests are very fair and never misleading. The grading scale is also superb! An A is definitely do-able with her!

Dierkson is a great professor. She is very fair with her tests, she even gives exams from the previous semster to study from! She used to do clicker questions but does not anymore, but she does give you a powerpoint of the old clicker questions to study with as well. She drops lowest test and quiz. Take her!

Diercksen is great! Had her for Bio 1 (BSC 2010) and now Genetics. I got an A in both classes. Her class is very straight forward and everything you need to know to pass her exams are on her powerpoint slides, which are organized very well. Go over her slides, and you'll get an A!

If you have 2-3 other tough science classes that require more time to study, don't underestimate this class. It looks "easy" if you glance over the material, but her exams do require critical thinking. They can be misleading if you don't study the materials. An A is doable if you put in the time. Drops the lowest exam and lowest quiz.

The only complaint I have is Sapling Learning homework because it was annoying to do every week. Other than that, amazing class, amazing professor! Tests are more than fair. She gives you everything you need (including practice tests) so don't bother reading the textbook. Make flashcards from the power points and do the practice tests.

Dr. Diercksen is amazing. I did not attend any of her lectures for genetics and got an A in the class. Study the powerpoints that she posts and you should be ok. She is very sweet and funny and makes genetics easy to understand. Make sure to keep up with the Sapling because there is quite a bit of it, but it is definitely doable!

Very dedicated teacher/professor, clearly cares about what she is doing and puts a lot of thought into making the course better. She also gives lots of "buffer" assignments that can help boost your grade, which is nice if you aren't a good test taker.

Attendance is not mandatory, but her powerpoints are not posted for most sections, so going helps. Especially because the textbook was a lot more detailed than her tests were. She definitely cares about her students, and will accommodate you within reason. There's 2-3 hw assignments every week through mastering.

Amazing professor!! She truly cares about her students and is perhaps the best lecturer I have ever had! If you do the homework and go through the study guide/chapter notes, you should do very well. Powerpoints are not posted and not very wordy so make sure you actually pay attention to what she's saying. Mastering study modules were very helpful!

I had Dr. Diercksen Fall 2018 Semester, and I can honestly say she was one of the most helpful professors I have had. Her homework is legitimately helpful, and her lectures are exactly what she tests on. I was able to maintain a high A the entire semester. She is kind and easy to reach, and the class was made interesting because of her.

She has the clearest grading criteria I have ever seen and the course is very structured, organized, and easy to follow. The labs were unclear at times and some of the lectures seemed rushed and difficult to understand, but she is a nice grader and will work with you. She is very nice and caring and tries to make the course as simple as possible.

Dr. Diercksen is an amazing, knowledgeable professor. The textbook she prescribes for Bio 1 Honors is free and very well-written, the labs are incredibly helpful at understanding course material, and she is very straightforward about grading criteria. Taking notes from the book/lectures and completing her study guides are key for good grades.

I absolutely loved Dr. Dierckson. It's been a while since I've taken Biology and I was worried I would struggle, but she's such a wonderful teacher that class was a breeze. She's fun but teaches succinctly and doesn't overwhelm you with extreme detail. She's always willing to answer questions and honestly I can't recommend her enough.

Dr. Diercksen is awesome. Her lectures are very easy to follow and cover all the content on the exams. She is very responsive outside of class and truly cares for her students. She is amazing and will always work with you to help in any way. I can't recommend her enough!

The textbook she uses now is incredibly specific, and Dr. Diercksen will only quiz you on material taught in class so its important to go to see what is not needed. She also gives weekly quick quizzes based off the questions in the text that are not to bad if you read. She is incredibly nice and her lectures keep you interested.

Dr. Diercksen is great! Her tests only cover what has been taught in class and she posts a lot of helpful resources online. Her lectures are straightforward and coherent. There are small in-class quizzes on each chapter using practice questions from the textbook. The textbook is very detailed and interesting but not necessary to get an A.

Professor Diercksen is a tough cookie, but shes an amazing teacher! Taking her class inspired in me an appreciation for biology that I never thought I could possess!

Took for Marine Bio, great professor. Posts slides and notes online, along with videos and articles. She makes the topics interesting and easy to learn. Online quizzes every week but they are easy if you follow the notes. Light reading every week and a few assignments throughout the semester that are easy. Definitely recommend!

Clicker questions every day in class. Honestly just copy down the lecture slides and you'll be good for the test - she's a very nice professor and knows a lot about biology (specifically animals). I really enjoyed her class.

Diercksen is a great professor. Very passionate, but you need to absorb both the textbook and her lectures to do well on her tests. I took her honors bio 1 section, and the tests were all hand-written, so beware.

Professor Diercksen is sooo nice! Very diligent in responding to questions especially since the class was asynchronous remote! Tests are hard but if you study youll be fine! Weekly quizzes and lab assessments along with misc. assignments throughout the semester. Shes so caring and genuinely enjoys teaching! She uses her own info as the textbook

Dr. Diercksen's lectures are great! The class overall is very time consuming and there are a lot of assignments; the quizzes are particularly hard. If you study a lot for the short-answer exams and thoroughly explain yourself, you can easily do really well on the exams. Don't take this class if you are expecting an easy multiple choice GEP Bio

Amazing! Absolutely loved her. Very accessible during pandemic. Recorded lectures which was SUPER helpful, especially to review. Cares about her students & wellbeing. Engaging too--always reads the Zoom chat. Will engage in discussion with the material & make real-life connections that really help understanding. Put some effort in & you'll pass(A).

Dr. Diercksen is an AMAZING professor. Her lectures are very informative, and she explains concepts in a way that is very easy to understand. She was also very quick to reply to emails about any questions or concerns we had. You MUST attend her lectures or watch the recordings to do good on tests; they're all FRQ and analysis-based.

Best professor ever! Class was a breeze and it was really clear she cared about the subject. Her slide notes have all the information you need for the quizzes, and the tests were really aimed at learning and connecting the dots than existing to be hard. Cares about her students and I can't recommend a better professor to take this class with :)

It's a good class but it has a lot of work. More emphasis is placed on her lecture slides but reading materials are there. Exams open-note but you have to write out answers so it requires more critical thinking. Live Lectures aren't mandatory as she'll post it later but it's highly recommended to pass. Post- quizzes, Concept Maps, Lab Assessments

Dr. Diercksen is great! She responds to emails really fast and will work with you until you understand the topic. You will have to read the book and take notes to do good on her post quizzes and tests. The tests are 2 hrs and 30 min. Have to work for an A but she's fair. Also, labs are fairly difficult, so do well on the easy assignments to balance

I love her! Her lectures are fascinating and she obviously loves the topic. Lots of fun assignments, like marine biology in the news or marine organism. The exams are easy if you keep up with the reading and the lectures. Wish it would have been in person.

Dr. Diercksen is one of the kindest professors I have. You can tell even by the way she responds to emails, she is very thoughtful. I would definitely recommend her along with Dr. Donnelly since I had them together. Both great choices :) (BSC 2011C)

Only had her for half a semester but I enjoyed her style of teaching. Cares about her students and is passionate about the subject. Class was just as easy with her during the second semester. Does not require webcam for exams which is awesome. Take her classes if possible!

Pretty good professor presents all the information in a simple way and is definitely. passionate about what she teaches. Quizzes are pretty straightforward, as long as you have the slide notes (which she provides !!) then you're good to go

Class is based solely on the lecture but there is an online textbook that she provides. It consisted of 4 exams, weekly assignments, labs, and a final you dont have to take if your cumulative exam score is 95%. Theres a lot of content, but she is a great professor and explains it well. The tests are easy if you pay attention.

THIS CLASS IS EASY , THERE ARE FEW 2 EXAMS, FEW QUIZZES AND A FINAL. EXAMS ARE NOT HARD. HER PP ARE A LITTLE VAGUE SOMETIMES SO ITS BEST IF YOU GO TO CLASS BECAUSE SHE ELOBORATES, OVERALL IT IS EASY AND SHE IS SUPER NICE !!

I am blown away by Dr. Diercksen. She is the most caring professor I've had at this school. The material is so much fun and she makes the assignments so clear. The exams, however, are not free A's. You need to work for a good grade, but it's not a very demanding class. Highly recommend her. Also had her for BSC2011C; would also recommend.

I'm not even done with the semester yet lol but she is awesome! She curves tests based on the performance of the class and is really caring about our grade and also gave us an extra credit assignment for +1% for our entire grade. Make sure to watch lecture videos for tests and every test should be an A. Best Biology professor at UCF.

Read and you'll get an A. The text is OpenStax so no need to buy it. Her lectures reinforce the reading. Quizzes at the end of each week and exams once in a while; exams are cumulative for the chapter. Final is not cumulative. Lab was fun; in-person labs are only graded on attendance, and online labs were easy.

Amazing lectures and the Campus layout online is phenomenal. Although she doesn't do live zooms, she does prerecord and post her lectures for the students who can't attend class in person. Her lectures are very content heavy, be prepared to take LOTS of notes. Her tests are worded difficult, and require a lot of thinking, she uses lockdown browser

The only thing that I hated in her class was the tests were so hard, there are 4 tests and one final and it is not cumulative her tests are online, to be honest just one test was super easy. she do curves for the tests she did that for three tests and she gave us one extra credit assignment. she is super nice and cares about her students.

This professor was good and cared for her students. Her course is good and organized, only her exams are really tough and sometimes got nothing to do with her lectures. Just watch the videos recorded before an exam and you should be fine. A lot of the powerpoints were information that was on the exams.

This is a really well organized course. We never went too deep into the material but still covered the basics. The exams were fair, a mix of concept with memorization. The powerpoint slides themselves do not contain all the information you need, so you MUST either go to lecture or watched the prerecorded videos. Dr. Diercksen is a great lecturer.

The tests were fair, and the quizzes were open note. All of the textbook pages were supplied to us through webcourses, Prof. Dierksen was a really great professor and I would take a class with her again. There were also some extra credit opportunities but not very many.

An A in this class is very achievable. The tests are fair, quizzes are open note, and Professor Diercksen is a very good lecturer. Attendance isn't mandatory, but I think it is important. Sometimes her PowerPoint slides will be vague, but she will say a lot of important info during her actual lecture that I noticed would come up on quizzes/tests.

Made biology very easy to understand and actual learn about!! Her course contained weekly quizzes and 5 non-cumulative exams (no midterm or final), all taken online/at home. And every one of her lectures was recorded. She also showed a great interest in what she was talking about, which made listening more fun. 10/10

Dr. Diercksen was amazing! I loved her class and in case you missed a lecture she posts recorded lectures. She always referenced each lesson to marine life which she is very passionate about. She explains things very well but be careful on her tests because she does have tricky wording sometimes that makes you second guess yourself.

Dr. Diercksen's lectures were clear and easy to follow. Every exam uses only the lecture content. Very nice and always ready to help a struggling student. Lab lines up pretty well with the lectures. She does not require a textbook because she will give you an online version that coincides with the lectures; I highly recommend reading the chapters!

Dr. Diercksen is a great professor! Quick and easy homework assignments are guaranteed to be a grade booster. Her lectures are thorough and all her lecture content is derived from them, so take notes! Super flexible and compassionate. Lab is easy as well, just post-lab quizzes each week that require a bit of thought.

Dr. Diercksen is incredibly sweet and her classes are very organized. I had her for Animal Behavior and now Marine Bio. She's very knowledgeable about animals and her lectures are great. There's a final project, but she's very clear about how she grades it. Tests were very straightforward, based mostly on lecture ppts. Love her!

She's a lovely lecturer, super easy to listen to and stay engaged (I have ADHD), and she's approachable and sweet to talk to. Great TA as well. I also recommend showing up because her slides are pretty minimal. If you understand the bare bones of the case studies, that's p much all you need. Study broader concepts, don't stress about tiny details.

If you need Biology 1, take it with Dr. Diercksen! The lectures are very straightforward & the textbook is in Webcourses and directly aligns with our course content (no extra that isn't needed). The exams are easy to prepare for; I made A's on all of them. The final was VERY easy too. Just read & do your work to prepare! The lab was fine as well.

Dr. Diercksen is very knowledgeable but more importantly caring. She engages with her students, responds to emails quickly and is approachable. Do the study guides. Take notes and study all components. Exceptional professor.

She is an amazing lecturer! Professor Dierekson is the kind of teacher that wants to see you succeed. She will help you find internships/opportunities and provides good feedback on assignments. Loved this class and will recommend this professor to everyone!

She is so caring about her students, I loved her. Make sure to read the powerpoints and study cases thoroughly before taking the quizzes but they were not too hard. Open note everything basically. There are group assignments but only in class and does not require anytime outside of class. Does not take too much effort to get an A.

Dr. Diercksen is probably the easiest professor at UCF. I took her BSC 3312 and ZOO 4513 classes, and both were an easy A. The exams in Marine Bio did require some pretty heavy studying, but the other assignments were easy and fun. The lectures were her reading off a PowerPoint, and attendance was only taken on assignment days. I learned a lot!

Professor Diercksen was very kind and very attentive. The class had a lot of content the exams reflected it, however the resources given made preparation easier. The lab was difficult at times because of tough grading, but through asking questions, getting a good grade was obtainable.

Dr. Diercksen is one of the best professors at UCF and I was sad when I ran out of courses to take with her. Her classes are fun and informative. She is incredibly reasonable when it comes to due dates. She also will update you on policy changes and such for the biology department which was super helpful, and loves to help mentor students.

Good professor and an easy class. The tests were quizzes worth 45 points online and had a written question. We had one easy project that was presented in small groups.

Dr. Diercksen is another of my favorite professors here at UCF. This class was a very easy A, and I never had to study for exams. I will say, the first exam threw me for a loop, and I did quite poorly on it. None the less, a pretty interesting into to marine bio class, and I have no complaints.

She is a good professor and the class is really easy! I recommend this class as a biology elective. Attendance was partially mandatory for active learning days which made the content a lot more interesting than typical lectures. There is a ethogram project you work through over the course of the semester but it wasn't very time consuming.

Dr. Diercksen is an amazing professor! illustrative lectures, helpful study guides, light homework, and hands-on labs. Her grading was very generous and she's always happy to go over any questions. She is truly passionate about biology and an incredibly kind person. 10/10
