Excellent teacher, makes math very easy to understand and is very though when teaching or explaining a problem. Highly reccomend taking her is you have a difficult time with math.
She is a great teacher because she gives handouts with her own problems on them. Her tests are very hard and sometimes she can be a bit discouraging. Do not take college algebra during the summer!!
Wonderful teacher. Constantly helping students. She truly loves teaching. Takes time out to help any student with any problems however simple they may seem to most of the class, she'll do a problem on the board anyway. Very very nice.
Ms. Saylor is an outstanding math teacher! I liked her so much I took her for 5 classes, Math I through Statistics. She is very patient and will always go the extra mile to make sure a student understands the concept. She has a great teaching style and is very clear. Her extra handouts really help.
i had a really hard time with her teaching concepts, she moves to quickly, constantly skipping steps in problems, I sometimes leave class overwelmed even after i have asked questions, if you have a difficult time in math, i wouldnt suggest taking her, her tests are horrible stingy with grades
She really breaks it down into bite-sized digestable pieces. Always available for help. Makes her own (easy to understand)handouts for using Ti-83. I hated math until I had her as a teacher. I reccomend her to everyone without hesitation!!!
Mrs Saylor rocks....She moves fast like people say but if you idiots stop her and ask he a question she is so cool about stoping and explaning she once explained something for me all class and 20 mins after... she helped me out so much in mat0024 and now i just signed up for her again
Very fast and skips explaining the steps,(Hello if we knew how to do it we wouldn't be here right?) I think she suffers from ADD gets off track every 5-6 minutes, will bore you w/stories of surfing and her son, and anything in life that p***** her off. She needs to stay focused on math (only), She is however very approachable and willing to help
Very good teacher. she is fast but very approachable and will do anything she can to help you. I love Ms. Saylor (michaelene)
Cool Teacher And She Is A Surfer
Awful, just Awful! She is much too challenging and moves too fast. The only thing that I liked was her handouts. I would NEVER take her again.
Great teacher, easy to understand. The work isn't easy but she does a great job of explaining. Overall outstanding teacher.
Very good instructor. Just listen, and if you have a question, just throw your hand on up there and she will more than happy to answer anything you may inquire about. class is not difficult. she is very helpful. makes things understandable. Just study a little bit. overall a fantastic teacher and i would recommend her to any older adult or freshman
She's great. Really easy to understand. The handouts are excellent; you really don't even need to listen in class. She's an incredible teacher. Highly recommend.
great great teacher. the handouts are excellent! highly recommend.
VERY fast paced, skips steps and biased. If your not a math person don't take her at all she really expects alot and uses a lot of sarcasm. I hired a tutor that has a doctorate in math and still could not pass her class. Was out sick with a doctors note and would not let me make up a test. Very stingy on grades. AVOID HER IF U DON'T GET MATH!!!!!
really cool teacher. uses her sense of humor to get points across and makes sure you understand the material. she reviews for the exams with the class and gives take home quizzes! She doesn't take attendence but you're only hurting yourself if you don't go. she makes it so easy for everyone! I would definately take her again!
Really nice teacher who truley cares. She makes jokes and laughs during class. Goes over homework questions each day. Tests arent the easiest but she writes her own tests so they are EXACTLY what she teaches. Bonus are on tests and you are given take home quizzes! Overall shes really nice and easy to get along with.
Great prof. Teaches very well and she's extremely helpful. Quizzes are take home. I never did any homework and never looked into the book cause she explained so well. Just have to attend classes. Got an A in this class and registered for both pre calc & stats with her. Highly recommended. Ignore the bad ratings some probably lazy students gave her.
Didn't like her teaching style. She's funny and a really cool person but I didn't enjoy taking math with her. She moves really fast when she's teaching a new subject so if you have a hard time with math I'd steer clear of her. She doesn't collect homework and quizzes are take home. Just do the homework and you should be ok.
Very funny an laid back, but if you don't like math or have a hard time understanding it, don't take her. She goes through new material VERY quickly and doesnt explain very clearly. very nice though, recomended if you like the subject already.
She's a very good teacher. Quizzes are take home and easy grades. I never opened my textbook to do homework. I got an A but i'm not sure how well i would have done if i hadn't taken statistics in high school. If you are fairly good at math, take her! She answers any questions thoroughly.
shes a great teacher if you know math. dont get me wrong... she is very sweet and an awesome lady... but goes through new material wayy to fast for people to understand
I like math and i'm really good at it. I hated her class, she's not friendly at all. NOT understanding either... a don't recommend her to anybody
As a person, I liked her. I understood the concepts, but when it came to tests, I felt like nothing on there was stuff she emphasized on. I spent an hour reviewing for the test and still managed to fail. I felt pretty confident going into it, and was left disappointed.
If you've never taking a statistics class before dont take her. SHe goes over things way to fast and doesnt give you a lot of examples
Do not take her, shes probably one of the worst math teachers ive had, ive never failed math in my life until ive had her, horrible stay away.
I regret not taking the commenters advice here not to take her. Her grading is absolutely wonky, and really has no rhyme or reason at all to it. The way she organizes the notes is horrible as well -- it makes it hard for students to organize their own notes. Her explanations are all right. The test questions are more like the notes than the book.
If your really AMAZING in math, then you will have no problems. She doesn't explain things at all and she rushes. If you miss a class, don't bother attending. You'll be so lost. She's mean. I don't like her personality at all. Stay away !! I'm going to end up retaking college algebra b/c she doesn't know how to teach.
I wish i would of read read these comments before taking her class. Shes nice but very fast in teaching and you can tell she gets irratated when you ask for help. She keeps you till the end even passed the time scheduled. Her examples are easy but the test are really hard. Takes points off for every little thing.
I just finished elementary statistics online for the summer. I really had no contact with her, except via email. I don't like her because she doesn't give extra credit and she doesn't take late work. Her tests were very hard and she dosen't tell you what to study to prepare for the final exam.
She's a nice teacher. If your struggling she'll help you as best as she can and will grade easier. BUT if you know what your doing she's tougher. I pulled top grades in the class the entire semester and she gave me a B+. I highly disagree with the final grade. One project, take home quizes, test and final exam. Some extra credit but not much.
I just finished Elementary Statistics online for the summer. I got a C+, but it should have been a B. She gives no extra credit, and takes no late work. She doesn't help you prepare for the final exam. She is a tough teacher, and has a hard class. Don't take it with her!
she helps with tutoring and everything but you can bust your but and still get an F
I did not like her teaching style. She teaches too fast (she's a jet).I don't recommend her to anybody. I used to do all my homework and still could not make it ( I'm not lazy). She never give you any paper to do for extra credict because she says she teaches too many class and don't have time. I don't think that it is valid.
the worst. went way to fast. never like using her office hours to help students. too busy with other classes to help with pre cal. SHe is teachng way too many classes for her to keep up. her study hours in the ASC are for college alegbra when there are no precal tutors. No extra credit or patience to help.
She gives tons of homework, even if we didn't go over the material in class. The tests are extremely difficult, even if you study really hard. I retook this class in the summer and aced it, bad teacher, would not reccomend.
I liked Ms.Saylor a lot. I had her for algebra and she was very clear in her teaching. She explains the basics very well and makes the concepts easy to understand. It gets tough to keep up with the class, but all math classes pack in so much material that it's hard not to. She also provides exam problems online before exams that are very helpful.
I thought the class was going to be easy because i got some advice from someone else that i should take it but i didn't like it. i love math don't get me wrong but that class was tooo confusing. She kept on jumping around a lot and the tests weren't very clear. now i have to make it up. this is just my opinion though so if you want take it.
Shes an okay teacher. If you miss a day you're basically screwed because she is so by the book that she wont let you turn in late work, and if you ask a million questions about the work she will get frustrated and eventually one word you and not answer your question fully. Shes just too by the book.
I love math and in statistics there is so much formulas you would think that she would explain to you more especially since its an online class but she doesnt. I actually recieved more help from students. Took class twice with her. Not a complete recommendation.
She is strictly by the books. If you ask a question she will tell you that she already went over it and will not answer you. I do not think that she explains the material that well. This is the worst grade since starting college that I have made and this was a D. Don't take her.
Good teacher. She explains much better than the textbook does.
Her class is extremely boring and uninteresting. I have always excelled in math and was excited to take her class. She doesn't explain things clearly and only does examples on the board the whole class with no interaction with the students. Do not take her class!
Horrible teacher. Really bad textbook but we have to use it cause she helped write it.
I had her for college algebra and she was very thorough in her explanations but the tests were extremely hard, I'm terrible at math and that aside, she is a good teacher if you pay attention. Bit of a boring class, not much engagement or anything but then again, algebra is never fun. I would recommend her
Terrible, she doesn't care about the students at all. Went and talked to her about my grade and she still failed me by 3 points out of 1000. She is the worst teacher i've ever had and extremely strange.
Horrible, did not know what she was talking about, seemed to not care at all about her students.
She does care about her students. I'm not sure why people say she doesn't. If you make the effort that a college student should, she is a great professor. Very thorough in her explanations.
I am taking the online Statistics class, and thus far this is the worst online class I've taken. Giving someone a 0 on an assignment with no explaination isnt my idea of teaching, especially when the assignment was done correctly. If given the opportunity to take a class with ANY other math teacher, do it.
she is a great teacher! you barley have to ask any questions because she explains everything very thoroughly. you will struggle if you miss class or dont pay attention but thats not her fault its the material that can be challenging. she posts grades pretty quickly online and goes over all tests.but overall i would reccomend her to future students.
She is amazing. She breaks everything down and is more than willing to help. She makes sure we are prepped for tests and know what to expect in college algebra. She is also sort of hilarious! Take her she is a great teacher.
She has got to be the best math professor I've ever had. She breaks everything down and makes it so much easier to understand, she also jokes a lot during class! Homework is extra credit but she picks the best problems out of the book that really helps you. Just remember to do the weekly labs and homework and you'll ace the class! Taking her again
She's a genius. I do not recommend her class unless you are a know it all and like the challenge. Her class was not for me.
She understands the material and you can tell she likes statistics but she doesn't help you in class when you need it. She goes through the material super fast and its hard to understand. Goes off track way too much and doesn't care if you are doing bad in the class.
Worst college experience ever! Very fast paced, no late assignments (what is the point of that if you don’t care if we learn the material) Email her questions and she will answer with two word replies; it really makes you feel like you are completely abandoned. You will regret it if you take her class!
Pretty cool teacher..very clear from day one! Taking her again next semester
Her class was easy, so I have no clue why people are saying she was a bad professor. She cares about what she does and is very helpful when you ask for help. She makes class fun, something many of my other Professors have yet to do.
She's an awesome professor, I don't get why the reviews here are as bad as they are. I've had her for 3 Semesters now and she's gotten better each time I've had her. She gives extra points for the homework, she is able to help after class, and she keeps all the notes on the course page, Just do the homework and it's an easy A! :)
Horrible!! DO NOT TAKE THE ONLINE CLASS!!
Do not take this class online with this Professor. Her group assignments and discussion board projects are very difficult and her expectations are ridiculous. Her instructions for these projects are unclear and her comments on completed work are very critical. I felt she could care less about her students success. Disappointed to say the least.
I had her for College Algebra. She was very helpful and is there when you need help, she gives extra credit for the homework and gives a lot of opportunities to do well in the class! You just have to show up! Going to take her for Stat!
This class is challenging yes and Saylor is aware of this, she makes the class as easy as possible but it's YOUR responsibility to study and to do the work! She is a very good professor and she loves what she does, especially teaching Statistics. I'm glad I chose her!
This lady is not good at teaching students the curriculum. she covers the material so fast with out detail that many of us in her class where not doing well. I would never take her again I hope this helps just one student not to take her, because she does not care about YOU!
Saylor's a great professor. She's willing to answer questions, explains concepts clearly and in many ways so everyone can understand, gives extra points on tests for turning in homework, and does whatever she can to help her students. Whether math is your favorite subject or not, you'll have fun in Saylor's class.
Took this class online and she is very difficult, do not take her online. Discussion boards and projects will kill u if u don't get a good grade on either of them.
Pretty easy class as long as you remember to take good notes and do the homework and quizzes, the tests can be challenging but as long as you study you'll pass! Good luck!
I took this class in the Spring, this class is generally easy as long as you remember concepts and do her practice worksheets. She is there to help you when you need it, I passed the class with an A after doing review sessions and practising the worksheet problems where the book is lacking in terms of good genuine problems I'd suggest her for Stat
shes great. works quick but all u hav to do is raise hand, ask ques's, or ask her to slow down. u can also get extra help from her if u got lost in class. her office hrs & asc hrs are good, even the 30 mins aftr clss helps. she has great passion for math and doesnt find pitty in slackers or whinners. this clss has made me work & study hard.
This was a really well organized class, and Christel's class notes could not be more congruent with what she expects on exams. Her semester project is assigned in chunks, and it is virtually impossible to do it incorrectly. You would literally have to not come to class and not check your email to be unaware of what goes on in class. Gr8 instrctr!
This coure is ehh okay. It is organized very well, but she does go through the material very fast and hw is not mandatory. However, i made straight D's and C's in her tests and still managed to pass the course with a high C. if you pay attention, take notes everyday, and are good at math this course should be okay for you.
Don't take her is hard and doesn't help at all. She doesn't answer emails and her project is so confusing.
Class was easy and fun, she had a well organized system and notes, we had a project that was divided into parts and she reviewed so you could make corrections before finalizing it, there for 6 exams that covered the material plus the final, she offered review days beforehand where you could ask questions, TAKE HER! A+!
HORRIBLE INSTRUCTOR!!! do not take her classes online, I see where people like her, but online she is absolutely terrible.
Her project was unclear and no matter how you followed the instruction you received a low score. This by far one of the worst online classes ever.
Don't take her online class. Horrible!!!!!!Spend hours on work and still didnt pass. Discussions were very unclear.
Takes time to explain why the problem should be done that way. Will remove problems from the curriculum she feel's are to difficult (she knows most people are required to take this). Chooses simplest explanations. Will meet with you privately for help. Stringent curriculum chapter, quiz, test, next chapter etc. Answers emails. Has a sense of humor
Ms. Saylor is a great professor. She will take time to listen to your questions and answer the best way she can so you understand. She is kind enough to even put the notes in class online so you can always go back to them. You cant expect to pass if you don't study. Make an effort to pass and you will. I would gladly take her again:)
I took her online STAT class. She doesn't reply to emails very quickly. She is slow to put the project grades in. The "application" projects seem like they are easy, but she grades them pretty tough. There isn't an ungodly amount of homework in this course though. The tests are not too hard. If you are willing to learn the homework you pass.
She takes the time to explain things to you so if you don't understand something just ask. She also uploads the notes online so if you miss a class you aren't too far behind. She gives partial credit on her tests so make sure to show your work. As long as you do some of the hw you should do fine on the tests(hw isnt mandatory).
I took this course online, and all though the class was fairly easy as long as you take notes and study, her grading is absolutely ridiculous. Dont even bother emailing her with questions, she wont get back to you forever. I was struggling with my grade and i asked her for help, and her replies were like she didnt even care. No care for her student
I took her class in my first semester of college. I knew I would struggle in this class, I have never been great with math. She covers material very quickly, if you take good notes you should be fine.. so I thought. Her tests are tough and she is a tough grader when it comes to online applications. Long story short, I ended up having to retake.
Very good teacher. Goes over everything in great detail if you ask for it. Tests are not hard as long as you study. Do all homework because she does collect it as a grade before every test. Just make sure you ask questions if you are lost and study the required material and you should do great.
Best math teacher I've had since Primary school. She's methodical in her teaching and actually assigns work that teaches you instead of tripping you up.
You won't find a better algebra instructor here. She really takes the time to explain everything in a way that the students can understand. There wasn't a ton of homework either. As long as you really try to understand the material, you should do well in this class. I heard her online class is also great.
most of this class is from an online program ALEKS... if you show up to class she will explain anything you are struggling with... easy A, but you do have to spend some time at home using the software. 6 projects over the semester, all super easy. she is there to help you if you need it.
She is hard
When I started college with difficulty in math, Ms Saylor has been proven to be very helpful. As the schedule for this class changed three times, I have found a great teacher with her, who explained everything very well and easy. Thank to her help I have earned an A in this course. I recommend her to all!
Took the hybrid class, wasnt much purpose of class but you got credit towards your grade. Math is done in Aleks. 4 projects, can work with a partner. I imagine If your good at math its easy, but I had to teach myself since its all online on Aleks.
She is one of the very best teacher i have had in a long time. She is thorough and available for questions at any time of the day. All you do is email her and you will get a reply shortly. She shoots from the hip and i love that in a person b/c you know they are honest. Class was tough but she made sure you understood it every step of the way.
I took her for Statistics. Horrible Pearson's book. Lock Down browser for tests which makes it more difficult. Grading is just as confusing as everything else. 5 tests for 50% / final exam for 20%. Very confusing grading system but why? No handout on rounding steps for problems lower grade. 70% dropped the class but I never give up passed
It's been 4 years and I still remember her class and how she made math click for me. Taught chapters in an intelligent order. Fantastic professor.
Easily the best professor/teacher I have ever had for a math or math-related course. Very friendly and gives concise and helpful explanations whenever a question is asked. She never makes students feel dumb for asking questions that, had they been asked in most of my high school classes, the teacher would have derided the student for not knowing.
She made a very hard class easier. I took this class before with a different professor and failed. She made the class as easy as possible. She teaches by going over many examples and provides lots of materials. She says textbook is required but only uses it for extra homework if you want. I don't suggest it as the textbook complicates it.
Absolutely wonderful professor. She will even take time to individually check people's calculator problems so that they can keep up. She gives lots of opportunities to get bonus points and she's truly wants everyone to pass. She's patient with questions while also keeping the material practical. I wish I could take more classes with her.
Professor Saylor can be hit-or-miss. The material is manageable, but her grading and communication style can be frustrating. unstuck ai was a lifesaver for practice problems when the textbook wasn't cutting it.
I wasn't good at studying back then or I would have done much better in her class, however shes a great teacher super kind and definitely makes the class easier. She will tell you from the beginning her class is more of a "How to use the calculator class"more than statistics so that was always a easy going way of thinking bout it TAKE HER IN PERSON
Professor Saylor is an excellent instructor who communicates clearly and directly. From day one, she makes it clear that your grade in the class largely depends on your efforts as a student and your ability to manage your time effectively. We utilized ALEKS, which allowed us to progress at our own pace throughout the course.
This is the BEST math professor for statistics. As someone who hates math she made this class so easy for me and is so clear with how to solve math problems. If you have the calculator that she teaches you how to use there is no way you will fail her. I believe she wants everyone to pass.
