Unfair Grader. Horrible accent. Does not know the material. DO NOT TAKE !!!!
Two faced. Never curved grade she said she would. Unfair grader. RUN RUN RUN RUN
Time consuming HW, easy tests, funny accent; easiest A for me this semester

Is she still teaching? I got a good grade, but it was the worse class
i mean BAD Professor
Study on your own! Be polite, and you'll get A. get bad grade.

AWFUL professor, harsh grader, nasty human being
BEWARE! Very sneaky. In the end nice marks to those she likes thats all!!!
da worst, harsh grader, don't know her material, can't speak english, pace is wa
I think she becomes an easy grader. I had 98 avg in her class, not a good prof.
She can be very helpful and she's an easy grader.
nice lady hard to understand nasty attitude
I can't belive they gave her a job! Avoid at all costs

HARD MEAN ATTITUDE,but will talk 1-1 and b nice
Always willing to help. Alot of work though. Overall very friendly!
Nice person when you get to know her. Fair grader, she knows her stuff!!!!!
U gona watch a lot of p. p slides and learn nothing. Have to learn on your own.
English is poor! Pay Attention! Boring!
HORRIBLE! WHO HIRED HER
She doesn't speak english but the tests r so easy who cares
VERY GOOD! You need to learn the way she talks but once that is covered she pretty easy and you learn alot.
A french touch in computer science, interesting result!
Professor to avoid ... never take this professor.Never take her class ,does not have any knowledge nor wants to teach, very unhelpful and a very rude person , a bad grader.waste of fees time and money.
She is the worst professor. Avoid her at all cause. You will learn absolutely nothing in her class and she is a very harsh grader.
RUDE! doesn't like to be asked questions
very fair grader if she knows you want to learn she will try her best to help you not for the lazy student
Not as bad as people think. Fair grader and knows the material (unlike most other CS profs). Has a bad attitude sometimes, though.
Classes are really boring. She reads from slides she gives out.
Rude to those who play with their phones all class and then ask questions about what something we just went over. She is a good teacher, it is the students who are the problem.
Knows the material, and is very helpful. Pay attention and not goof off and you'll do fine. If your rude or disrespectful then you will get your in turn.
very nice and fair Do not understand the bad rap Go to class, do your homework and do not ask stupid questions or try and make her look bad
Great teacher. Very nice when you get to know her.
Very nice, clear, and patient. Only gets agitated when students waste time. The class is tough, a lot of work. She does her best. Tests are all on what she goes over. She will answer any legitimate, unless she has gone over it many times before.
Very interesting course, she is a master of Java. I never found something she can't answer. I assume she had good teachers too.

I gave her a good rating for CS 361, but not this time. Project is HUGE and all in all we have just 1 weekend to do the coding!! What, you don't know Servlets and SQL you say? Get ready for a nice F.
I don't know why is everyone saying she is a good pro. She can't teach and is not helpful at all. She messed up my perfect average.
She should give up teaching not very helpful nor knowlegible never take her class.
Dont take her!!
what is up with this one? she doesnt explain anything and when she does you have no idea what she is saying. She has an attitude toward everyone who asks a question. Thank god I learned this stuff in hs.
She is the worst professor of all time. You can't understand a word that she says and she is not very helpful. Thank god I learned Excel in HS.. Don't take her. You'll be completely lost and you have to teach yourself.
Those who say they can't understand what she says are not making the effort. She is straight forward with assingments and tests. Also answers every question you ask her through e-mail as clear as possible. It's not a lot of work if you can keep up. Take her if you're responsible and interested.
The class is tough. There are two projects but she gives only about a week to do each one (one needs the other to work). She will help you if you ask nicely, and really need help. If you missed classes and didn't listen, she will not go over the material again.

She's very knowledgable. She knows her material and is a fair grader. The problem is that the students at Pace do not want to be challenged! I see it all the time. I can't wait to graduate and go to a school with students that don't just want to get A's as gifts, but actually work for them.
This professor is a real dumski. She gets away with it because her undergraduate students are not exactly rocket scientists. She wouldn't last a minute in any first tier school where her lack of knowledge would be exposed. It amazes me that she has a doctorate.
This was a database class, which I know pretty much all about. It also didn't have enough to be considered a class, so it was technically a tutorial, so she was really easy on everyone and we only met half the time we were supposed to. I've taken her before, I doubt she'll be ever this easy again.
The following writer is correct when he says that the class did not meet on a regular basis. This appears to a habitual luxary that this prof indulges in. Also, lets ban those flunky powerpoint slides that she gets from the text publisher and have some real thoughtful notes. But- that involves work
bad bad bad bad, she has no idea what she is doing!! Cannot teach but expects us to magically know information... how did she get this job??
Very nice lady but sometimes hard to understand. Class is based on basic computer skills. (HTML, Javascript, Security, and Excel) Textbooks are expensive!! You need four books. Just pay attention, do her work, and you'll be set.
WHAT A JOKE! Prof Scharff has no idea about the material that is intended to be taught, none the less she can't speak english if her life depended on it. She wouldn't be so bad if she was nice, but she doesnt give two craps about the students or their work. I have no idea how she got the job or her doctorate. STAY AWAY! Horrible Professor!
This class is a lot of work. She has a french accent. Hard to understand in the beginning, but after you get used to her accent after the first 2weeks, she's a good professor. Although she teaches from powerpoint, it makes our job easier, study the powerpoints and you'll do well.
Mobile soft. eng. course. Professor really did a great job preparing the syllabus for this unique course. The course consisted of j2me programming project with scrum (teams of two or three), research project, 9 labs, and final(very easy). All this in 6 weeks. Used good sdlc practices svn, java.net eclipse etc. Great class, highly recommended.
She has a french accent, but once you get used to it, she is very understandable and is expert and delivering the course materials. She's one of my favorites.
Absolutely useless!
Learned a ton about Agile/Scrum from the audits. Told us exactly what was going to be on the final and all the info is in the slides. Auditing was a lot of work but wasn't really that difficult. Individual assignments were easy. She's not as hard to understand as others portray. CIS 101 students are the scorn of Pace so be weary of those reviews.
one of the more pragmatic professors in this department. her tests are harder than most other professors. she is very bright and a clear expert. she's alawys available for extra help
Nice lady but a harsh grader. You can tell she is defensive about being a woman which is just silly because most people can tell that she knows her stuff. Study, participate, show up for class and you will get a good grade. Also learn how to program already. So many people can't even handle the little coding that was done in this class.
She is very well-educated. She knows what she's teaching. She makes you work for the grades but it is worth it!
She does not know anything but expects everything. She always remains busy working on some hopeless projects. I wish if I could rate her in negative. She does partiality and teach almost nothing. However, she gives all students grade A. Because she does not know where she can cut the grades. I recommend students take her class only for grades
Scharff rides on her previous status as a full bright scholar and attempts to be forward thinking with without understanding the nuances of new tech. Be a yes man, just agree even if it goes against your core principles on order to succeed. Has a grasp of certain projects in the African region without taking into account the deep rooted culture
A few words: TOUGH, HUGE PROJECTS, HOMEWORKS ON TOP OF HOMEWORKS! She's very respected at Pace and but she also assumes that we have NOTHING ELSE to do other than DO HER HOMEWORK. I would not recommend her. She assumes we know everything, and every time my classmates needed help, she would say "try it yourself" and it got repetitive after a while.
Horrible, horrible, horrible. SO MUCH WORK OUTSIDE OF CLASS. And she actually has two midterm exams and a final. But if you like all the above, you'll love her.
She assigns regular homework and allows for corrections. She wants you to learn through practice and understand what the problem was rather than just shaft you with a bad grade. She also tries to integrate several different types of programming languages into the work to show how certain CS concepts are consistent across languages.
it is a fundamental and theoretical course which will help you to get a profound and expanded view of programming in general. her class is very intensive and the homework and tests are challenging. worth to put yourself in it, and of course she values hard working. not for fainted heart.
easy professor, she always replies promptly your questions. Group project is easy. Great professor!!!
Her teaching is average at best. The amount of work required for the course is ridiculous. She thinks the course work is the only thing you are doing all day. The work load is large and the time to do it is short, a great combination.
Christelle Scharff is not an easy professor. I took her course during summer and it was very intense. Though, all the material taught in the video lectures and power point slides was on her exams. She also gave the midterm review questions and they were similar to the questions on her midterm. Overall, I had good experience.
Don't take her, her lectures are not organized well and her work does not correlate with the lectures. Honestly have no idea what is going on with the class.
She can't teach at all. Her lectures are boring and she reads off slides and sometimes goes off on a tangent. However she does offer extra credit work. Taking her class is equivalent to watching a 2 hour long monotone youtube video. She has a very roundabout and confusing way of teaching concepts that could be explained so much simpler. Don't take.
Dr.Scharff is one of the most respected professors at Pace, and I can see, she is an experienced programmer. However, this does not correlate to the class and lectures. The lectures are IMPOSSIBLE to pay attention to. Topics on the test are unclear and when I study I have no idea what to even look at. It feels like she has no time for the class.
she is tough but she knows the subject really well. If you study you get an A and you will understand everything
I build a strong DBMS foundation with Proff. course. I gained deep knowledge from concise, clear material (PPTs, videos). Assignments were challenging, requiring lecture mastery. Self-study is key. I plan to take more courses with this professor. Regret: summer session too short for this comprehensive course; a full semester aids consolidation
Not a good professor. Difficult to understand and blames you for not having the exact answers.
This is the Operation Overlord of Computer Science.
Probably the worse professor I have taken so far at Pace Uni
Professor Scharff is, without question, one of the greatest professors—maybe the greatest—of all time. Believe me. I know great professors, I've seen many of them, and Professor Scharff is absolutely at the top. From the very beginning, she taught paradigms—and not the boring kind, folks. These were powerful paradigms. Beautiful paradigms.
Let me be clear: Professor Scharff is the real deal. In this programming languages course, we took on BNF grammar, SML, and Prolog with clarity and purpose. Challenging, yes—but inspiring. I left smarter and confident. That's leadership. Yes we can—debug, reason, and think better.
