It is very refreshing to see a professor that cares about not only the in class success of individuals, but one who also provides helpful tools to propel students into their career fields. Very active and engaging lecturer, classwork is manageable. Highly recommend this professor in all classes he teaches.

I wasn't too sure what to expect walking into the class, but it did not take long to realize that it would be a fun semester. His discussions are fun and constructive, while keeping them professional. Arguably the best Saturday class available.

I learned a GREAT deal from the lectures and the textbook. I've always had a bit of anxiety so much so you COULD say I shelved this class near the end. It's how you DEAL with these challenges that can change a BIG part of your life. For me, I was so eager to avoid 'not knowing what to say' that I naturally was able to speak, and I THANK him for it.

Although it was a late start class Professor Collins doesn't make you feel like your in class but more like hanging with your friends he gives you the straight truth about everything and is my favorite class of all time definitely should take his class you will enjoy it and learn a lot about your self and skills required for your life.

Class was very enjoyable. As long as you attend and participate during the class there should be no reason to not make good grades. Teacher is very encouraging and entertaining during the class. His grading is very fair and as long as you put in the effort you will be rewarded with your grades. I would definetly recommend taking his class.

Great professor! If I had to take a speech class again I would definitely take him again. I felt like I was listening to a friend talk rather than a professor. He uses his life experience to teach. As long as you participate and do the assignments, you shouldn't have any problems getting a A and a B.

This is a really good class. The teacher is very enthusiastic and very positive. He tends to relate every one of his speeches to past events he's experienced which encourages the students to be real and authentic about their subjects. There is text book work but doing it counts for easy participation grades. He certainly practices what he preaches.

He writes really thoughtful responses to your speech to help you make your next one better. If you're a hard worker, you'll get an A in this class.

Most understanding professor i've ever had. The syllabus was very easy to follow. He lets you know of his expectations ahead of time, so you know what to expect. I feel this was a great online public speaking class. You have to record yourself giving speeches in front of at least 5 people so heads up if you don't have many friends or family. Overall the class is interesting and engaging so it doesn't feel like work but you must put in the effort for A's. He really sticks to the syllabus and is organized.

I took this online & we had 4 major speeches + 1speech for fun (still graded)& 6 discussions - ea. inc. 1question per ch.(3 ch. per)& assessing 1-2 speeches (what they did well, what you liked, etc.) He gives you good feed back about what you need to work on but def not impossible to make A's-He wants you to do well!! I suck at public speaking &dread it but Collins gives great feedback on what to work on - if you stay on topic about your speech and PRACTICE before you perform (keep eye contact, dont fidget, etc. - which I still did plenty of) you'll do great! While I took the class online Prof. Collins truly did his best to remain in communication with me at all times when needed. One time one of my assignments didn't show up in the drop box and instead of saying "No, I can't except that" he went ahead and let me get the assignment turned into him. While enrolled in the class, I had a full-time job, I went on vacation for a week, and I had sorority recruitment. So the work load is definitely manageable. Collins also gave great feedback. Take this class! I took it as an online winter minimester. Public speaking is not one of my strong qualities, but his class allowed me to grow as a public speaker. He is really passionate about the subject, and if you listen to his feedback you should make an A, even if you have a rocky start.

I took professor Collins in a winter mini-mester and it was honestly a lot of fun. Group discussion grades and 1 major speech each week. The speeches take A LOT of preparing and practice if you want a good grade. But to be fair each week my grade improved because he gives VERY specific advice and suggestions on how to improve! Growing up as an introvert, I always faced difficulties with speeches, so this class was a significant step in helping me boost my confidence, communication skills and deliver powerful speeches.

So I have taken numerous online classes full semester and mini courses. This class was the worst class I have ever taken! The material isn't bad but the communication from this professor sucked. He changed his requirements in the middle of the course. He was very rude in his emails and slow to respond. Take the class, just not with him.

Each week there were questions to answer about the chapters assigned. I found this textbook online for free. And you would have to write a speech each week, being the most difficult as I felt there were very broad instructions to create an outline and the actual speech and there was a requirement of 5 people. Overall, I would recommend the class.

At first I was a bit overwhelmed by this, but this class helped me more than I thought it would. Took this class online mini-mester, but even so the professor gave great feed-back on ways to improve for the next presentation. Assignments were posted before due date, this allows plenty of time to get things done . In case of any questions, the professor replies to emails within a timely manner.

I took Prof Collins for Spch 1315 as an online class. His personal videos are hilarious and inspiring. He also posts other videos that are relevant to the topic you will be doing your speech on during class. He definitely makes you work for the grade, but it isn't overbearing. Definitely take him If you are willing to put in effort into your work!

Professor Collins was a great Public Speaking teacher. He was very informative with the assignments and I knew just what was expected of me from day 1. Professor Collins is a fair grader and gives good feedback. I learned alot about Public Speaking and was able to apply what I learned even in an online environment. I would highly recommend him.

I took this online class in a min semester and it was great! Not a lot of work, but the speech can take up some time to do. Chris is a great guy who gives specific feedback on your speeches and tells you what areas need to be addressed! I highly recommend taking this professor!

I took Professor Collins during the mini semester (3 weeks course) and I can say that this course drained me with my already limited time. I work two part-time jobs so taking this class was not that easy. However, as long as you are organized and accomplish your work and put effort into the speeches you will get an A. His critique is pretty clear.

Totally recommend! Sadly this course I took was online and it requires us to find 5 people as an audiences in order to get a full credit for 4 major speeches which they are count as a test grade. There are no midterm exams and final. I would suggest to take face-to-face. Other than that, he grades very fairly and he is one of the best. Easy A!

If you follow the instructions you will get an A, the only thing that I thought was hard was finding 5 people to present a speech to. I took it online during the summer term, Im getting As on all my speeches so far. It is time consuming writing the speeches and practicing them but I was also taking A&P2 at the same time.

Professor Collins was a great teacher! I took his class online in a summer session 2. His grading criteria/instructions were clear and gave you a freedom in creating your speeches. His feedback was really helpful; it showed how much he cared for the class and their progress. Responsive and caring. Do your best on your speeches and you'll succeed!

Good grade effort! You have to memorize your speech (requires rehearsing it a lot) and deliver it well in order to make a good grade, and he gives you feedback on speeches and responds to emails in a timely manner. The most difficult thing was finding 5 people for my audience. He works with you if any unforeseen circumstances come up

Few graded assignments, but they hold a high grading percentage. He will make you work for your grade, but it's so worth it. Take him!

I really enjoyed taking Public Speaking with Professor Collins. He chooses great material for examples that appeal to all types of students. He gives feedback promptly after every speech. You do have to read the textbook, understand the material, and practice the speeches, but you will leave a better speaker by the end of the semester.

Prof. Collins's class was great, I took the class for a mini and it was awesome, there was 1 speech presentation, 2 videos to assess, and 6 question from 6 chapter from the text book every week. He gives instant feedback to work, and reply to mail within 6 hours. He gives the privilege to make choice of topic to speak on. But you have to be serious

I honestly have really enjoyed this class, But of course you have to put in the work to get the grade but it is totally worth it! I Feel like I have learned a lot and have improved as a speaker! I took Professor Collins for an online 3 week mini mester and I loved it. First off, let me say I DO NOT like making speeches at all, but the textbook reading combined with the feedback he gave made giving them bearable. Even though my course was only three weeks and I never met him in person, it is clear Collins has a passion for speeches and teaching students how to present professionally.

You are required to participate in discussion boards, record your speech in-front of people and post it, and respond/ critique your peers speeches. He is very helpful and responds relatively fast! I had Professor Collins for the fall semester of 2020 online. He is well organized and creates the perfect understanding of what you need to learn and what assignments should consist of. This class was an eye opener for sure, it gave me a challenge as to what I saw to what I knew. The energy and the enthusiastic of the professor is amazing. There is reading to be done, discussions and speeches. All of them fall hand in hand but there is work to put in for sure. Make sure to communicate with the professor if you have any questions.

I was worried about taking a winter 3-week course but it has been very manageable, professor communicates well and sets his expectations clearly. He doesnt overwhelm you with assignments and focuses on a few quality assignments rather than a bunch of busy work. Would definitely take again!

I'm taking this as a 3 wk mini+although I'm a freshman, its been my fav class. Mr. Collins did a great job, the class is structured well, he is v accessible, gives helpful feedback, and while it does require work, its not only manageable but enjoyable as well. The class really works towards building your communication skills by making and presenting speeches. You learn the importance of engaging the audience and various ways to do so. It is honestly a very education course especially if you are preparing to get a job.

for the online class, you need to do the work read materials and submit work and upload speech every other week or so. instructions were clear so following it was needed to do well.

I took this class over summer break so it included three major speeches, two regular speeches, and some discussion posts. You do need your textbook, and there were no exams. Professor Collins did a great job teaching my SPCH1315 class. This was my first class as a dual credit student. I enjoyed learning important concepts that have helped me to become a better speaker. I would recommend putting the extra work/time into your speeches and trying to utilize his feedback and you will not be disappointed with the results.

For a 3-week minimester, I only wish I had him in person. Even with an online course, it's clear he cares about his students' growth as a speaker and confidence as a person. Teaching style is great - provides sample speeches we have to analyze, and along with his own critiques, he also has students peer review our speeches which is really helpful.

Christian Collins seems to be a very busy man, but he always answered emails outside of class. I took an eight-week course with him and he's so understanding and accommodating. If you have the chance, CHOOSE PROFESSOR COLLINS. Fairly easy workload with clear instructions. Basically, put effort in, drink some coffee and get a good grade.

Although it was a summer class, Professor Collins made it an enjoyable experience and I do recommend taking his course, 100%. There were quite a few quizzes/assignments and one final speech. His lessons were accessed through the textbook, the lesson plan outline (on D2L) was exact, and Professor was always available to answer questions.

I didn't know speech class could be this intense on critical thinking. It didn't seem that difficult, but it was time-consuming. I had to put time and work behind it. All of the assignments were laid out as a pattern so I knew where to start and finish. Professor was cooperative and approachable each time I emailed him. Definitely recommended!

He may push you a little but only in a motivating manner. It is almost hard to fail in his class. The only hard thing was speaking in public, other than that everything else was not hard to follow.

I took Professor Collin's online summer course for Communication, and it was a great class. While the work isn't hard, it definitely requires time management. I did a module every day and was able to finish ahead of time, but be aware: these modules can be long, so make sure you're completing something on a daily basis and stay consistent!

Professor Collins is a practical and fair teacher, and the dedication he brings to the class made for a fun, educational, and inspiring experience.

The professor provided us with the material needed to understand clearly the topics about the class and get the best preparation for the coming tasks and tests. The materials provided for the course were very helpful, and although the professor's teaching style encourages self-learning, the professor is available to reach in case help is needed.

I really liked this course! I think he did well setting up material and making things interactive. The course work was predictable. The only critique on the course work that I have is that it was all very inwardly focused, and while introspection is important, it is much better when paired with musings on the world outside ourselves and our town.

I took Christian's 6-week online course. this class is very heavy on 3+ hours on Smartbook quizzes, Each week is assignments and assessments. the professor is fine and responds to emails, he seems nice but i wish he would find a more interactive way to teach

This class was very easy to follow and assignments were simple and we had a deadline every month-ish. Even though we were online, Professor Collins seemed to care about everyone by giving assignments and videos that would benefit us personally. I'd say Collins is one of the best professors I've had!

Teacher was MIA whole course. Graded everything 2 weeks ago. All 100s for me. Easy class. 3 speeches (one doesn't count for grade) and 1 essay type paper. Everything else is done/graded via online textbook. Also a lot of first week stuff doesn't count for grade, but required. Also due dates are unclear as he doesn't update spring from fall semester

Took this speech class to fulfill credits for degree. I was able to do homework fast even after taking 2-3 weeks off. Three major 4-5 minutes speech in front of 5 people as it was online class. Homework consisted of reading, reading verification questions and quiz usually 10 questions. The homework was meaningful and correlated with topics.
