Great professor, definitely would take a class with him again.
He knows what he is talking about. He is very willing to help students and go back and re-explain a topic if unclear. I know this is completely irrelevant to the class, but he looks identical to Kevin Bacon. Overall, I would recommend him.
He knows what he's talking about but is horrible with directions and will not give any leniency on any homework that he has not explained well at all. Does not seem interested to put effort into the class.
Kevin Bacon look-a-like, monotone, likes to joke around in class about mountain biking, you normally get out early. Homework is all online, tests are all pre-made by the book company so they are challenging. If you dont ask questions you probably wont learn anything. Read the book. Read the book. Not a bad prof overall.
He knows what he is talking about and is very kind and helpful when you ask questions. His exams are very difficult though and he is not very clear on what he wants from writing assignments. Tough class!
Identical to Kevin Bacon! He knows what he is talking about. He is very kind and helpful when you ask questions but is not at all clear about what he wants for writing assignments. Exams are very difficult in this class! Very tough.
Very knowledgeable in this field, definitely knows what he is talking about. Is very willing to help and is always willing to answer questions. Tests could be difficult but if you study the book you will be fine. Always asked for feedback after tests. A little unclear on some directions and group project sucks but overall a good, fair prof
He was really good at explaining things if you have a question. If you read the book and studied the online homework, the exams were pretty easy. There wasn't a lot of homework but the project at the end was time consuming. Overall, I would recommend him.
Great prof. Really cool and great at teaching. Has a ton of knowledge in the field and uses good powerpoints. Attendance is kind of mandatory. He does random attendance checks if a lot of people are gone where you get -5/5 points if you're gone, 2/5 if you're excused and 5/5 for attending. Homework isn't too bad and the exams are very fair.
Highly recommend. Great prof and really understands the material. Group project is a little difficult, but the hw and tests are fairly easy. Prof is very helpful and will explain things over if needed. It helps to read the chapters!
Professor Glupker is a great professor. He tells you exactly what to expect on exams, there were no pop quizzes, and he always asks for input to make the class better. We get to use a 3X5 cheat sheet on the exams as well. Really knowledgeable and wants his students to succeed. He really seems to care.
He is a pretty good teacher. He's always willing to explain things. Make sure you print off the slide shows for notes and read the book as you go along. Test can be hard so make sure you study well. Always prepare the notecard he lets you use - it's very helpful. Off topic but he's pretty good looking for a prof!
Prof obviously enjoys talking about economics, but isn't the best at "teaching'. He comes in most mornings saying how tired he is. I pay good money for him to bring his best and I feel disappointed to know he's half-assing his lectures. A bit arrogant but overall helpful and engaging.
I was very worried when I first steped into class because he had a angry look on his face but he turned out to be great. Easy prof, lots of homework but all easy. And he gave us everything that was going to be on a test and let us use a notecard. He is young and can crack a good joke about drinking and what not. Def take him!
He's pretty funny, but the class is really boring. He knows his stuff when it comes to econ but doesn't really seem to be care about you knowing it. There's online homework which can be kind of hard. The exams are brutal but you can have a notecard. Some in class assignments and one paper which was really hard because it's not well explained.
I really enjoyed this prof. He was clear on what needed to be studied as well as basically letting you cheat on the exams with a note card. He's not easy but he makes you want to go to class even though not mandatory. I'm taking him again next semester. plus
Good teacher! Exams normally come directly from Connect homework and in class handouts for specific problems. Does randomly take attendance, normally if there are people missing he will to it. You get to use a notecard on all exams. Definitely recommend, he is also really helpful if you go to his office hours!
Most multiple choice on the tests are from the Connect hw. He is a good prof and makes jokes during lectures to keep it interesting. He lets you use a note card on all tests and if you come to class and do the homework it's pretty easy to succeed and he is very helpful if you have questions.
Pretty good prof. Super helpful during office hours and practically gave me answers while teaching me how to do things. Didn't use the textbook too much though.
Christian Glupker is one of my top 5 professors I've taken at GV. He is a simple, funny, intelligent guy and the class was pretty enjoyable. The tests feature questions mainly from the Connect HW so practice those before the test. Also lets you use a note card (both sides). Highly recommend. I'll definitely be taking him again next year.
Great professor! His lectures are straight forward and gives real life examples. Exams aren't too difficult and tells you exactly what will be on it. Will take him again if I can!
GREAT PROFESSOR. He has a great sense of humor. It's very sarcastic, but in a good way. He has loads of real-world experience, which he frequently incorporates at relevant times. The top students in his ECO 211 classes were exempt from the final exam. That added some competition, which I enjoyed. My favorite prof at GVSU, I highly recommend!
Very clear expectations. Uses connect for homework. Lets you have a notecard for every test and reviews for the test the class before telling you exactly what is on the test. If I could, I would definetly take him again.
One of my favorite professors I had during my time at GVSU. Interesting lectures, exam questions pulled right from the homework, and a few days were dedicated to watching 30 for 30's. I would take this class 5 times a semester if I could.
He is very sarcastic, dry, and humourous. He has 1000 points, 4 exams, so homework is worth 600, if you do all of the homework and write a notecard for his exam, you will get an EASY B.
I was not looking forward to taking this class because it's not one of my favorite subjects, but he made this class interesting and fun. He is a funny guy! There is online homework every week but its all multiple choice. He always makes sure you thoroughly understand the worksheet assignments. Tests are homework problemsin class problems mostly.
Loaded with real world experience.
He is very experienced in banking and sometimes assumes the work is very easy to understand
Glupker is a fantastic teacher. He is very intelligent, sarcastic, funny, and expects a lot of you. It's actually great though because you really learn! I would suggest him to anyone!
Professor Glupker is an excellent teacher and a real asset to Grand Valley State University. He takes boring economics and applies it to real life. All of the homework was done online on Connect. Maybe 1 or 2 quizzes in class, they were group ones. The exams can be challenging, but Professor gives you an exam review the class before the test.
Professor Glupker is a good professor. Economics is a generally boring subject, and he makes it entertaining and bearable. He always relates his lectures to his life stories, so it's always something new. Lots of homework though, almost totally online. He would be someone that I would take again definitely.
He almost made an economics class bearable for me. My only gripe is that he instructs strictly through lecture; no class time is used for activities or any other instruction method to help the students that need further explanation. If you don't already have a knack for this stuff, my advice is to find an easier prof, or get a tutor.
Professor Glupker may be the funniest guy I've ever met, and it's in such a subtle way. His class involves a lot of online homework with the occasional excel homework. Tests aren't too bad if you study, get a note card for most of them. Overall my favorite professor I've had so far at GV. Definitely hope to take him again next year.
One of the best professors I've had so far. Like everyone else has said, homework is a huge part of the grade (like 60%), so make sure you do it. You don't really need to buy the book, the powerpoints and notes from his lectures are good enough.
Attendance is part of your grade and was taken almost every class meeting. Perfect attendace is rewarded. Assignments were plenty, online homework was due before most classes. However, doing the homework was essential to doing well on exams. All homework was graded. He says the textbook is optional but is crucial for earning anything above a B.
Very smart Prof. You must have the ability to read and teach yourself outside of class because there is not enough time in class to cover everything. The last 3 chapters covered in this class are probably the most difficult but he was very helpful and made sure we understood them. Two of the tests had a take home portion which was nice. EC offered.
Great and entertaining professor who gives funny real word examples to explain tricky Micro concepts. The only thing with him is he assigns a ton of homework every week but it pads up your grade. It was funny when he told the class that he was sorry for assigning a lot of homework one weekend because he had no idea it was Easter weekend until after
Do your homework! A lot of your grade is based off homework, so keep up with it. He is funny and makes class interesting (also he's hot).
He is a very smart guy and knows everything about Economics. His tests are questions straight from the online homework and from the reading assignments. It may look like a lot to do but the answers always stick out in the readings. Funny guy, dark humor, but 10 for 10 would take him again
Christian is a great professor. Dude is hilarious and hearing his stories from when he worked at Fifth Third make the class enjoyable. He really wants you to understand the material and always asks if he can clear anything up. Attendance sheet, you get a notecard on tests, homework online and a reading assignment almost every week. TAKE HIM!
Professor Glupker is a funny guy. He gives a lot of real world examples that help you understand the material. Do the homework, it will help your grade a lot and you will see homework questions on every exam. A lot of reading but it is beneficial to the learning. I will be taking him again.
Professor Glupker is one of the best professors at GVSU. He always relates his lectures to his life as a banker at Fifth-Third so it is always really interesting to hear what he has to say. Homework every week, but it is always on the tests, which you get a notecard for. Lots of little reading assignments too, but they always have a purpose.
Wonderful professor. Easy to succeed in his class.
He is a fair teacher that if you do what he assigns and study some you will get an A. I personally found him a little rude at times, opinionated, and couldn't understand other peoples views on things. He gives a lot of homework but it helps for the test and make up a good part of your grade.
You must put effort into your homework if you want to do well in this class. He also will randomly call on people when going over the homework so make sure you did it! He posts powerpoints before so you can take notes in class and the homework is directly linked to the powerpoints so take good notes.
He does his best to make class interesting and he has a lot of knowledge and experience; he is funny and real about the course and the real world. My only complaint is that he is not good at getting back to students via email. Tests are tough and you have to pay attention in any econ class!
Super funny, intelligent, and a total babe.
He was great, never made anything more difficult than it had to be.
He always had great real life examples and even though he may seemed bored at times, he would crack a joke that related to the topic and bring the class back to him. He knows what he is talking about and I would definitely recommend him to anyone.
Pretty cool when he's not hungover. He's extremely nice and funny. Sometimes he goes over things too fast, and if you miss something, it's easy to get lost and fall behind. Exams are, for the most part, taken directly from the homework. So just memorize the hw. That being said, he was one of my favorite profs. I always looked forward to his class.
Ladies, take him. Seriously. Not only is he incredible to stare at, he's funny, intelligent and does an amazing job relating difficult material to a younger audience. He's also approachable, cares about your education and that smile.
Not a hard class at all. Most of the exam questions are based on quizzes, which are based on homework questions. Funny, smart and laid-back, for sure.
Said that homework was optional but then complained that only 5% of students did it. The homework and reading were optional (but if you did them, they were lengthy). Because I never had to, I just didn't. That hurt my test grades. Lectures were boring and he speaks quietly. I'd recommend avoiding this one.
Glupker was unorganized and most definitely not my favorite professor. More than halfway through the semester there were 17 students failing the class and he had to assign a bunch of extra credit. I suggest the book (you need an access code for the class anyway) and come to class. The extra attendance points help.
Professor was great. Other students complaining are doing so because they don't like their grade and need to blame someone. Homework is not graded, but most certainly not optional. Tests are based on the homework. It's great because you know exactly what to study. The prof is also very accessible and willing to help. One of my best at GVSU.
Good professor. Easy going. Economics is hard but he makes it easier to understand. Ton of real world experience that he brings to the class. He's also too smart to be teaching a 210. Fun guy.
I took this class as a condensed spring course so I can't speak to the normal nature of this class, however, even at our pace this class was fun and fairly easy to learn. The test come from the HW and quizzes, but he throws in trick questions or wording so beware. The NBA project was the most fun of the class and definitely worth taking.
Bring energy drinks to class! He seems very knowledgeable about economics, but lectures are very long, monotone, and boring. Most kids fall asleep or do something else during class, but he provides a lot of opportunity for extra credit so it is not too terribly difficult to pass if you put enough effort into the homework and study.
He does good for dealing with 100 students. He's most certainly passionate about the topic but it's still economics. I'm not an econ major so it was difficult to stay focused, especially in a theater room. My other friends had different prof for 210 and they were hurting bad. I would tutor them based on Prof. G lectures. He makes it that easy
Take him if you have the chance! He is super fun and makes macro as fun as it can be. Showing up really does help, he explains a lot of what will be on the exams. he gives really good study material as well! TAKE HIM
Does really good with a large lecture. Understands that students struggle to sit through a 2-hour lecture. Gave survey's during semester and then added the changes to help us. Also contacted me about missing homework and gave me a second chance. Asks for feedback a lot. Wants students to do good.
Professor Glupker is extremely qualified with a background as a banker. He knows his stuff and it really shows. Definitely the best professor for ECO 210. I'd recommend having him for both the lecture and the discussion. The online homework is short, but sometimes you'll need the actual textbook for some definitions. Investopedia is a homie.
Was a good guy. Helps with homework. Only complaint is had a 92.89 in the class and wouldnt round my grade and I worked really hard in the class. Final is hard tests are taken from practice tests
Professor Glupker is passionate about Sports Economics and is deeply experienced in the economics field. I was part of his summer class, which was an experimental 3 week course, so our course was heavily accelerated. His class is lecture based and,you need to pay attention if you want a good grade. Take decent notes and you will do well.
Professor Glupker is very laid back. Exams are mostly based off of homework and quizzes. He is sometimes unclear with due dates, but is always willing to work with students on the issue. He does random attendance throughout the semester for points, so going to class is a must.
Lots of homework but its online. Tests are really hard and he doesn't really prepare you for them. He checks attendance and you get points for it so go to class. Lectures are really boring.
Easy if you pay attention. Take attendance. Liked him enough to take another course with him.
Up until the last month, this class went by pretty smoothly. He gave us everything we needed for the test and we only had a couple quizzes along with a online homework assignment due each week. There were only 3 exams including the final. The majority of the final was a "take home" and was extremely difficult.
The final exam is very difficult, but overall the class wasn't too hard. Stay on task and you'll be good.
Glupker's lectures are very boring and hard to pay attention to. If you don't read you will be completely lost and his lectures won't offer much help. He often half explains things and then moves on leaving the whole class confused. With that said, if you see him during his office hours he is quite helpful.
Professor was rather easy. I took a night class with him and we always get out early; all assignments are online and all tests and quizzes come from the assignments directly. Lectures can be hard to follow but overall this professor is a good choice.
Great guy. Maybe the best professor I have had at Grand Valley, 10/10. Take him
He's an okay guy. Young and sometimes has funny things to say. The class itself is so boring and his lectures are monotone. I took this course for 2 hours and then a discussion with a different prof and it was a horrible decision. Only good thing is that the homework is on Quizlet and the math portions of the exams are take home.
Enjoyed 210. Lecture can be long but that's what I signed up for. Grading is fair.
If you aren't taking Glupker for bank management, you shouldn't take bank management. Enough said.
Taking Glupker for sports econ is a solid choice. There's no textbook since he developed the class. Goes through powerpoints during lecture. Exams are based on the notes. Had one BIG group project at the end of the class, which wasn't too bad if you follow instructions. Very dry sense of humor and can lead to funny comments. Would take again.
Reading all the prior reviews I was excited for his class. Very disappointed. No energy, doesn't seem to care about his students. Emails usually took 2 or 3 days for a response. Lecture material could be interesting and fun to learn, but then exams test nitty gritty details that weren't covered. Marginal at best, but not the hardest class out there
Glupker is hilarious if you enjoy dry humor. This class doesn't have a book, so everything comes from the lecture... as long as you pay attention and study for the exams, you should be fine. He's a good prof.
Very interesting class. One of the few I enjoyed coming to everyday.
Take this class just for the team management project. It's a lot of fun.
Professor Glupker is very mediocre, he loves to brag about himself and doesn't really teach a whole lot during lecture. His lectures are incredibly boring and I never learn anything when I decide to attend. I really wish I took a different professor for this class because I did not learn anything!! He is always late and count on teaching yourself.
Very knowledgeable guy and good prof. His lectures arent the best but he does a good job of explaining things if you have questions. Lots of homework every week but most of it is easy if you pay attention. Overall great guy and good prof
Amazing professor! Lectures are really boring but he understands that in a 2 hour lecture so something you play games. There is a TON of homework but honestly if you try on them your grade will go up. Grade is made up of 3 exams including the final, a small paper, attendance (is required as you get a one each time you show up), hw, and 3 quizzes.
Hes a pretty funny guy but lectures get very boring as expected. His exams have a ton of the questions straight from the study guides he gives with the answers so study those before exams. He assigns a lot of reading assignments for homework which are just online articles and multiple choice questions.
Hands down, best professor I've ever had at GV and would take any course with him. Super laid back, always willing to help outside of class, and an enjoyable class even if you don't love sports
Professor Glupker has dry humor and isn't super expressive, but he uses personal stories and connections to the real world that keep the lectures engaging. He often let you out of the long lecture early. He reminds you of assignments and provides you everything you will need. He will walk you through anything you don't understand.
It was an online course thanks to the pandemic. Worried I would not be able to follow or keep up, but it was organized well and Professor G was very accommodating. I still prefer being in a classroom but this wasn't so bad.
I took ECON 210 with Christian all online and it was quite simple and very easy. Good guy, and its straight forward. I would highly recommend taking him for ECON.
Glupker is so funny, and very smart in his field. He gives you a practice exam and it is optional, but it has alot of the same questions as the real exam. Great lecturer too.
He was great! Economics is just a hard topic in general. I took the course asynchronous online so that is where I struggled the most, but I would highly recommend Glupker!
The class was asynchronous, so there were no live lectures. He would send out weekly emails, and you could tell he really cared about your performance. I contacted him a few times, and he was more than willing to help. He even helped me with my finance class. I will take him again.
The class itself is good to fulfill the upper level Econ course, but it is not as great as people say. His lectures are pretty boring, and his slides do not have much information, so you have to write down things he says rather than copy slides. That is fine, but it is tough when you miss or forgot something. Group project has no guidance. Good man
Great guy. Best issues class to take and is fairly easy. Lectures can be boring. NBA project is really fun. Best option for prof for eco 330
His experience in banking really help with the lectures. Helped me land an internship at a bank. Class can be boring but his stories are great.
Super easy class. Glupker is very straight forward and does not assign busy work.
I took this class online so I didn't have much interaction with him personally, but he always responded to my emails and answered all my questions. Overall I enjoyed the class and I would take it again. There are weekly homework questions, a few quizzes, a few exams, and one group paper. I would recommend the class.
Loved Prof. Glupker! Assignments and the course itself were super easy and straightforward. Exams were great! He was a great Prof. Course was delivered online and asynchronous, which was super helpful for me and my schedule! Great ECON class to take for credit.
Although the content of this class is quite challenging, the weekly quizzes were not very difficult. The hardest part of this class was the homework assignments. He gives multiple attempts on all homework. One group project towards the end of the semester. Not a great responder to emails but everything you need to know it given.
He always starts his class by asking what is going on in our lives, he actually cares. His lectures are long and boring, but this is a really easy econ credit. There is a quiz due each week with some excel assignments, but are all doable. There are two exams, and one group paper. Overall good professor.
Took Finance 420 online with Professor Glupker. Easily the best online professor I have had in my four years. Blackboard is laid out very well and homework is never a surprise. He also opens chapters early allowing you to get ahead if you'd like.
I would not take his class online. Good guy but he is absolutely horrible at teaching online courses. All his lectures are recycled from previous years, and he gives the WORST quizzes and exams. You cannot study his PowerPoints because he only puts bullet points with no explanation. I would 100 avoid
Online course is very organized. I wish other professors would follow this layout. Nothing really challenging in the class. I enjoyed it, but I enjoy sports. Weekly quiz that not easy, but not hard. Group project is annoying.
