Nice guy w/ a good sense of humor. Rambles quite a bit, so if he gets stuck on something boring it goes on and on. Overall a good teacher with fair tests (gives you the questions prior to the exam).

This class changed my life! I HATED history until I took his two history classes (17a & 17b). His textbook & teaching style challenged me to question my own assumptions. Take him!
Very overworked professor, teaches to many other classes at multiple colleges so has no time to get tests graded on time, or tell you your grade throught the semester. Every exam is an essay, absolutely no multiple choice tests, and lectures are extremely dull. Take someone else.
Nice guy with a good sense of humor. However, he's not much of a "teacher." His format is strictly lecture, and the class is very redundant. He teaches 8 classes at 3 different colleges, so he is not very accessible. Unlike some teachers who want students to learn, he just wants a paycheck.
I wouldn't really recomend him..he only lectures and he's hard to follow because he says umm and uhh way too much! Tests are kinda hard because there are only 25 multi choice but the quest are worth 4 pts each.Doesnt give study guides either
He is a good guy. He teaches through lecture and you MUST take good notes. This semester he use multiple choice tests, they were mainly from lecture, not book. Talk during the discussions, he will give you points. He is a busy guy and really the only way to get ahold of him is e-mail.
DO NOT TAKE HIM. This was by far the worst proff I have ever had. He cant keep himself on track so students have a hard time taking notes. Test are just from lectures. Skips over much info and doesnt even get to some. Doesnt tell you your grade through the semester and doesnt answer emails.
I wouldnt reccomend this man at all. He always starts class late eveyday and gets so far behind due to his lateness and he also teaches at 2 other colleges and 9 other classes. He is very hard to get ahold of. There are 3 tests, a paper and lecture
People are overly hard on him. No multiple choice? Essay tests? Hard? Well, this is COLLEGE, get over it. If you bother to take notes and listen, read the book, and actually study (and YES, he does give you ALL the questions/topics in advance) you will do fine.
Very Awkward speaker but other than that he is an easy teacher. his tests are no longer essays but multiple choice and most points are bassed on the in class discussion groups (easy just skim the reading)
As the comments might indicate, Chris Jardine is a teacher that you'll either love or hate. I think that he's great, and unlike many of my other professors, his lectures are easy to take notes from. He seems to test on a mix from lecture and reading, lea

I don't know why people seem to be so down on this guy. He is passionate about subject, funny, and gives clear interesting lectures. He could be a little more organized, but gives you all the materials you need to get a good grade. He's kind of cute too
He's a hard teacher and sometimes goes off of the subject, and gets frustrated with the students, but you can tell he loves teaching, and overall he's a pretty decent teacher. Expects us to know a lot, but grades fairly
This teacher is too hard in grading and doesn't do much but stick to the outline, so pretty boring, but lecures are easy to follow and he's nice and helpful. Overall an ok class
Don't like the disscussion groups. Chris really likes the subject you can tell. Good sense of humor.
I feel so sorry for those students who made a comment not to recommed Mr. Jardine. You guys are "LAZY". If you are in College it's not 1 + 1 you need to get your ass to study. Chris is a very good teacher and very knowledgeable and helpful. I never see him late coming to his class everyday. I think his subject is very interesting. Good teacher!!!
he is hard to get ahold of. difficult to understand, mummbles. doesnt follow up on questions. tests are hard
Made learning history fun for the first time for me! :)
Good class; interesting lectures; good guy. Gets a little frustrated with students sometimes but I dont blame him
He makes it interesting and loves the subject himself!!
Gets you to think about things. Fair. Provides outlines and study guides and explanations of asignments. Overall, pretty good class
Good class; good lectures; good guy. He's funny and fair (and cute too :) ).
he knows his history very well. all he does is lecture, the whole class period, and his voice is annoying so its painful to sit through. he can be a jerk, but if you participate he likes you.
The class can get pretty boring since he spends the whole time lecturing. Very easy class as long as you show up and take notes. Class consists of 3 tests and an essay, so one low score can really hurt your grade.
This teacher does nothing but lecture. Pretty straightforward. I didnt even buy the book and I passed the class. He gives you a study guide that covers the whole semester(very helpful keep handy and use it everyday), but he is impossible to get in touch with outside of class. He doesnt return calls or emails.
Great instructor...interesting class...cool guy
Jardine is an intenst teacher, but very knowledgable on the subject! He's a bit scattered at times and doesn't really go over things as well as he could -- This is a lecture class. Study the matieral he speaks about in lecture and provide a promising essay and you'll do fine in this class.
Fun class. He looks too young to be a professor -- don't mind though :)
A lot of knowledge; casual style; interesting. He is smart, funny, and not bad looking!
I loved this class :)he was an awesome professor.
Liked his class alot. Makes history fun; has so much enthusiasm and energy. Knows alot about subject.
This class was very interesting and I would take it again because it was so much fun. He knows a lot and loves it himself, and he is a great teacher. If you participate, you will do really well. I completely bombed my final and still got an A in the class. Have fun with him!
good teacher. others say he's hard to get a hold of but he was always available for me.
Great class, he is a blast!! Loves his subject, talks fast so keep up. He is pretty hot!
Like the class...pretty hard, but he is nice and yeah, I could see how some think he is a little cute :)
he was a great teacher! he kept class very fun and interesting. the tests were a bit difficult, but not if you attend class and study
Class great! He is funny, knowledgable, great stories. (Cute :)).
I agree...good class, good teacher...and...um...I guess :)
he is a really good prof. and, uhh, yeah I guess so :)
Love class. makes it interesting. lots o energy. cool dude!!!
You will not be disappointed :):):)
Great class! Didn't like history before. He makes it interesting. Lots of humor; lots of knowledge. Lots of personality.
Appropriately and affectionately blunt, regarding the subject.
He's just plain good! Period!
Love him! and yeah kinda cute;)
This would be a great class to take if I was retired or something and I didn't need to worry about my grade. You will learn a lot but the tests are really detailed and if you don't remember all of the facts you won't get an A. Particiaption is really key. He doesn't always go in order of the study guide and it's often hard to follow along.
Jardine is a cool cat!.. He is as interesting as he is knowledgable and he wants his students to do good. He's a young teacher who shares a generation with his students, creating a humorous and fun environment as well as a perfectly balanced class. Would take again for sure-Arya
jardine is a cool guy, younger and fairly interesting even to those who may not like history. keeps the class engaged and entertained. if you read the chapter and get the study guide from him you'll do fine on the quizzes. next to no homework
Super class! He's funny and makes it pretty fun. Grades fairly & gives you a study guide. Knows his subject well and you can tell he LOVES talking about it. All in all, a pretty good experience. A little hard to get a hold of though.
Great class! Would recommend highly. Talks a lot but loves the subject and makes it lively with lots of interesting stories and humor, and very LOUD! (in a good way, keeps you awake for sure). Medium difficulty I would say, just do the work. He is a pretty young prof and relates to students easily. I may take another class from him.
Good class! Funny, makes it interesting, not that tough if you keep up.
Outside of class - funny, easy to talk to, very nice guy. In class - notes are hard to follow because he rambles and gets off track. Some information was not even covered. Very hard quizzes - felt like they weren't from lecture or reading. ?? Our whole class was behind, lecturing on finals day, with final due a week later.
Talkative and a overall nice guy. I only read the textbook for the first quiz but it didn't seem to effect my grade when I didn't use it. Attendance is pretty much mandatory since almost all the quiz questions are from the lectures, so pay attention! He makes the class fun and is a total caffeine addict, so be prepared to write fast!
He lectures every class the whole time and tests on his lectures. there is no homework
Jardine is the man! He is so passionate about history and that makes his lectures not feel like lectures, but fun engaging stories. I took him last spring in 17A and it was pretty much a no brainer to take him for the second half of 17 this semester. All around cool guy in 'n out of class. I highly recommend him! Thanks Christian!
He is ... interesting. Easy class. No exams.. just quizzes - no midterm/final. Minimal HW. He seems to get distracted in lecture a lot. But thats OK.. because he just postpones quizzes until he covers all the material. Basically just go to lecture, and you'll get a good grade.
7 Quizzes. He gives you an outline and underlines what will be on the quiz. 30 pts. 5 pts. are chronology which he gives u. easy pts there. he words the quizzes a little tricky but if you read the chapters u will be fine. lec notes and book=A. It is an easy class and he is vivacious and keeps the classes interesting. Talkin in class makes him mad:(
Took the class in 2009. Teaches straight from the book, only read American Creation. Friendly guy, engages with students.
so boring. i slept every single day of this class and got an A. he doesnt use slides, the board, handouts, the book...just him talking every day. which is fine, but im a very visual person so i need to look at something to remember it. class is only 7 quizzes, lowest dropped. no exams. 5 question/page paper due at the end based on boring book.
If you find prof. Jardine boring...then YOU must be boring!...he's like totally funny and engaging! Great sense of humor and makes history much more interesting than I thought it could be! Class is worth it, and if you do the work you should do well.
I like this prof...he makes it interesting! Good sense of humor.
I love Christian!! I'm so glad I took his class. He most definitely IS hot, but more importantly, he is a great teacher. Every class, I feel I'm going on a journey into history. His tests aren't even that hard. Best of all, he is the ONLY!! professor I've ever had that does NOT tolerate talking during his lectures. He maintains control, very rare!!
he might be a really cool and funny guy, but i couldn't really follow him because of his organization. I haven't looked at the syllabus after the first class because he changed so much on what was due. my lack of interest in subject doesn't help either. so for me, its the teaching style. a lot of people like it, i just don't.
I can't believe so many people enjoyed his class! It was easy enough - easy quizzes and take home final, but the lectures were so boring (and I'm a history major!). He was rude to his students a couple of times, and he read right off his hand outs. He's good at emailing back but thats about it. Boring and easy class.
He lectures all class from a study guide. He goes off topic so much people fall asleep. It is hard to follow and his quizzes are from the book so you have to read the chapter to do well. He doesnt keep my attention so it makes it hard for me to be interested in what he is teaching. VERY BORING. even though he gets loud randomly.
I really enjoyed Mr. Jardine. There were times where some of the lectures could get a little boring if you arn't interested in History like myself, but for the most part it was fine.7 quizzes. No final or midterm.Easy to pass if you go to lecture and read a bit.At the end there is an essay, not too bad tho. Show him respect and he will give it back.
Though he is a nice enough guy, his lectures were boring and hard to follow. He rarely passed back our assignments after they had been graded, so it was hard to gauge whether you were doing good work or needed to step it up. He also does not always respond to emails. Reading the book is mandatory. There is no group work in class, which I liked.
I loved this class. Teacher brings a ton of passion and makes it interesting. He's funny and knows his material. Grading is fair, just do the work
So this class was a joke... He starts the semester off with saying he will never put you to sleep, but im pretty sure I slept to his monotone voice every class, he gives you study guides for the tests, which are pretty easy to pass. I didnt do the final and i think i still got a 'B'
He's really a mixed bag, personality wise. He can be funny and sarcastic, but he's strict about no talking in class and can sometimes be condescending. The class consists of 8 homework assignments, a few quizzes, and a term paper. Homework was straight forward, but time consuming for such little points. Study guides made quizzes fairly easy.
He's Alright
Great prof! Makes it interesting, not to hard if you study, he's funny. He told us he got teacher of the year...he bragged in a joking way, but he did and I can see why. My favorite teacher so far in college. If I get my A!!!
Great prof...great class. He did get teacher of the year and he's good enough...I c why
totally passionate about subject. full of energy n it helps keep u interested. i will miss this class. has a boyish kind of charm for a prof
Super easy class if you go. He sets you up to pass the class. As long as you take notes during lecture you dont need to do the reading from the book. He allows you to miss 5 hmwk assignments and there is only one big paper at the end of semester which he lets you turn in a week after school gets out! I would really recommend this teacher!
Stress free class. Homework was a little time consuming, but quizzes were a breeze! If you attend class you hardly have to study! Rewards the students who attend his lectures and participate on a regular basis. He drops the lowest quiz score, gives one extra credit assignment and the final paper isn't due until the week after school is out.
really helpfull. You need to pay attention and read the book to pass but if you read the study guide the tests are easy. staying after class is a must to get him to like you.
Definitely recommend him for History 17A & B. He's an awesome teacher and is really helpful. His class contains of 7 quizzes which he lets u drop one 8 homeworks 5-7 term paper at the end of the semester and 2 extra credits. In order to do well in this class overall it is essential TO READ THE TEXTBOOK
Cool dude, and very animated. Tests were easy and simple. Only downer was he often went over the class time ALOT because he is a talker. Essays due per chapter. Other than the course work being a little tedious the class was easy.
This is not really a hard class. You MUST read the textbooks, which ends up being a lot of reading. Homework can be difficult and long. Quizzes are easy if you read and follow his lectures. I found it to be tedious, but overall it was an okay class.
Very passionate about history. Talks NONSTOP in what seems to be a 90 minute run-on sentence, but is still somehow entertaining. Classes are only note-taking only. Homework is just chapter outlines, drops worst quiz score of 7. Take notes, follow outline and come to class and you'll be fine. Adds bonus points for participation
Bad teacher. Never gave homework back on time. Gave back the last day of class. Quizzes were based off of homework. Therefore, when thinking you did good on the homework, and figuring out you did bad on it at the end. Had a lot of effect on my quizzes.
Very disrespectful and rude. There is a lot for reading and homework. We used 2 books, one for homework and one for the quizzes. I'm an A student and had very difficult time with his class. I'll take it again but with different teacher.
Love this dude's class! Totally passionate about the subject, he brought it to life, very laid back approach and funny, if you do the work grading is fair and class is not difficult. Study your notes, read, and pay attention, and you should get a good grade.
Mr. J is the man. Very fun class. He always keeps it lively.
Mr. Jardine was overall a pretty good teacher. Sure, sometimes he gets off topic and yes he does take a while to return homework assignments, but give the guy a break. I didn't do so great in his class but i was extremely lazy. Do the homework assignments (8), the quizzes (7) aren't the easiest but are doable, and write a good essay and you're set.
Professor Jardine is definitely a teacher that everyone should have. He is so passionate about history and he makes the lectures so interesting and he involves the students. His tests are pretty simple but attending class is necessary to do good on them. The paper at the end of the semester is also very easy if you read the two text books required
Best history teacher I have ever had. There is a reason why he got the best teacher of the year award.
Awesome teacher. Loved the class. 7 mini exams, lowest one gets thrown out. No big midterm or final. 3 essays, 2 page minimum. No coursework other than that so it was very manageable. Follow the lecture outline and supplement it with readings from the textbook. Exams are 15 questions, 6 MC, 5 matching of historical figs, and 4 chronological terms.
The essay questions given are almost impossible to answer. Instructor doesn't give helpful comments when grading essays. His only comment was "too obvious". Instructor was not approachable.
Professor Jardine is highly disrespectful and arrogant. He encourages "class participation", but if someone attempts to respond to a question, 9 out of 10 times he completely shoots their answer down. His quizzes are confusing and sometimes has no connection to the chapter being studied. I won't be taking any of his other classes in the future.
I liked his class, his lectures were actually interesting and he gives you an outline so you can pay full attention instead of just taking notes.
Prof. Jardine is a great teacher! Passionate about history. I wish the class was more difficul, but I'm sure Sierra doesn't want a US History Class to be too hard for people just trying to get a HUM credit. No tests, just 4 short (3 page) papers and quizes every week. If you don't get an A in this class, you probably aren't trying too hard.
Excellent teacher! Very helpful and easy class!
Been in two of his classes now. Loved them both. He's very passionate about the subject and has a lot of knowledge about nad he's funny. Overall these things make the classe interesting.
Professor Jardine, as many people say, is arrogant. However, it isn't something that is hard to deal with it. It doesn't get in the way of him teaching the material. His assignments and expectations are clear. 8 homework assignments, which is answering questions from the book, really not that hard. I would definitely take him again for History 17B.
Fun class, funny teacher, interesting lectures. If you study, you should do fine. I learned a lot.
Professor Jardine almost goes off on a tantrum every so often while other times he might speak softer, so if you're a sleeper, don't be surprised to feel your heart racing when he gets passionate about some subjects. Homework was a little tough because i'm not much of a reader. He also has constant 'mini-exams' or quizes instead of a midtermfinal.
Super fun class! High-energy and passionate about history. No midterm and no final, just 8 mini-exams throughout the semester and your lowest grade is dropped. He gets very excited and swears a lot, which is awesome. Highly recommend his class!
Mr. J is the best. Have had two of his classes now, and he is great. I would recommend to anyone.
Super awesome class! Jardine is super funny, passionate about what he teaches, and keeps it interesting. The homework is really easy, one assignment per week and there is no midterm or final, just 8 mini-exams.
I loved Professor Jardine. He was extremely passionate about the subject of history and there were few (if any) things you could bring up that he wasn't well educated on. He is extremely well-read.
Jardine is a good prof. Not the greatest, but hes not the worst. Mini quizes are what makes your grade; no final just a take home essay. Hes an enthusiastic prof & is pretty much easy if you read the material. HW is off articles and 813 are assigned, choose any one you want to do. Class is easy for the most part. His outlines are great for quizes
Professor Jardine makes history come alive with his passion. He is smart and knows his stuff. Personally he has a good sense of humor, is easygoing, and warm and friendly.
He is very passionate on what he's talking about, but in order to pass the class you really have to pass the 8 mini exams which are 15 questions each and he goes off topic on his lectures a lot. I'm an A student and I can't possibly remember what is on his quizzes because he talks about so much that isn't on the quiz. Not an easy A. But he's nice.
Christian Jardine is a excellent history teacher, brilliant, open-minded, funny, and reasonable. His class is easy and fun as long as you put in the work. Every lecture that he has, he gives the students a study give presenting the basics and broad details on what he is lecturing about. He is also very fair and reasonable in his grading.
Professor Jardine is fair. If you work for your grade, you'll get the grade you deserve. Homework is kind of hard, but there's only 8 assignments due during the whole semester. His mini exams are kind of hard, just pay attention in lecture and study with a group! Assigns one big paper, but is fair when grading it!
Would take again. Hilarious. Easy to pass. Read his outlines and listen (just a little) and A is yours. Very passionate about history. Homework is ridiculously easy (and you only have to do 8 out of assigned 13). No Final or midterm, just 15 mini exams (drops the lowest score). Will up your grade a half letter if you participate!
Jardine is my all time FAVORITE professor! I've taken his class 2 semesters in a row. He's a very loud and hyper guy, and he's extremely knowledgeable about history. His lectures are super interesting. As long as you go to class every day and do the study guides, you'll pass the exams. And the homework isn't even a big deal. He made me love history
Professore Jardine was most unorganized and unapproachable so far . He doesn't answer emails, always too busy to communicate. His quizzes are very hard and confusing. Don't expect easy grade.
Incredible teacher! Very passionate about his subject. Long lectures but he tried his best to keep it humorous and interesting. Has seven "mini-exams" and you only have to do 8 out of the 13 homeworks. Grades on a curve, but usually there would be plenty of 100%. Has schedule and outlines laid out. Not much office hours, but never needed them
Love this class! Prof Jardine is super interesting and funny. Totally into his subject and you can tell from the passionate lectures. I want to get a good grade, but I like just going to class because it is interesting. Grading system is fair. Not that hard to do good if you study.
Boring class. Probably because I hate history. He assigns mini exams which will make or brake your grade. there are 7 of them and there are 8 homework assignments. Make sure you always go to class because he sometimes gives extra credit when the class is really empty. His lectures are a little hard to follow and I didn't find him very interesting.
Amazing prof & class. Took HIST17B in the summer it was hard because it was a summer class but he has a clear grading criteria that makes it very possible to get a B or an A. 7 Mini exams from lecture/readings (lowest test score is dropped). 8 Homework assignments (MUST have book). 1 Essay on your topic of choice. 1 EC opportunity. Would take again
Only got a C because I didn't do one single homework assignment... and STILL got a C. Great teacher, very fashionable, 12/10 would take again!
Clear grading criteria but the criteria is a struggle to meet. This is my lowest class and I am taking science classes that should be much more difficult courses. He gives an outline which we study for the test, but they are all over the place! I put time in and still get low scores. Trust me I work and am willing to work. Studymore or dont take!
By far the worst teacher I have ever had. He talks through out the whole lecture and doesn't call on anyones raised hands through out the lecture so its not a learning process for anyone. don't take his class.. he's funny but a bad teacher, unfortunately.
He is really passionate about history and is a really cool guy in general. However, if lectures are not the way you learn and you will fall asleep in them, don't take him and he seems to lack patience with students. His homework isn't that hard, you pick 8 out of 13 assignment. It is just really easy to forget to do them.
Mini exams are diffucult. Good teacher, makes what could be boring bearable. Not an easy A, but if you do your work, you will pass. Nice guy. Would take agin if I had to take more history. Only a few assignments and tests to determine grade.
Hated his study guides. They made no sense in relation to what was on the actual quizzes. The homework assignments were also very time consuming. He is understanding and flexible, which was great during finals week.
He is a skilled professor, but the classes are mostly lecture and by the end my hands would ache from trying to take notes and keeping up with him. The study guides are nice but everything is underlined so really you have to know every word he says for the exams. The homework is easy but time consuming. But, he would add points to low exam scores.
Great Professor! Really loved his class. He is passionate, caring, super dresser, lovely person and interesting. Be prepared to work hard - but hey that what college is all about. He too made me love History.
Loved his class! Interesting material, funny prof, not that hard. Spiffy dresser for sure!
Excellent professor!
he knows what he is talking about and is very passionate about the subject. attendance isnt mandatory, but if you don't come you won't pass. his ppts are online, but its mostly pictures and text irrelevant to the exam questions, as his exam is based on his verbal lecture. 1 six pg. essay, curves most exams, 1 extra credit assignment. very lenient.
Professor Jardine is a great teacher, he is very intelligent and very passionate about the subject. I will take his class again!
He's one of my favorite professors I've had at Sierra so far. He is funny and very nice. and you can can tell he really loves what he does. I highly recommend him.
Everyone see things differently, but this was a real good class. Jardine knows the subject, makes the class fun to come to, and lays out clearly what you need to do to succeed. Drops your lowest exam, gives you extra time for essay, grades vert fairly. Nice guy also. I recommend his class.
Professor Jardine is the most outstanding instructor I have had at Sierra yet. Made me love history. If you can't do well in his class then you just aren't trying. Seriously. several mini-exams, he drops your lowest. One essay due at the very end of sem. and he even let us turn it in on Canvas after the class end. lets you turn in HW late.
Professor is passionate about subject. He is knowledgeable and makes class even enjoyable. Keeps his personal and political views out of the classroom, which is important to me. He is loud when he talks, which makes him odd at first, but you get used to it. Talk to him after class, super nice. Grading is fair, maybe even to fair sometimes.
I never liked history and thought a morning class would be even worse, but I really liked this class. Teacher was knowledgeble, friendly, fair, and made it worth coming to class. Very Well dressed. I swear he has like a million ties. I would take again if I need another history class.
Glad its over, but liked the class alot. Professor Jardin is very passionate about history and is really funny. Class is not that hard if you pay attention and study some. I also would take again.
No comprehensive final. Actually no final at at all, and no midterms. 7 mini exams, and he drops your lowest. 8 homework assignments, that can take time, and aren't fun, but only 8. One small essay due at end of semester, and he even gives you extra time if you submit online. Extra credit too. I found it very manageable and straightforward.
This class got me to think about history in ways I never thought of, and I always liked history. Teacher is well-prepared, funny, and gives you the tools to succeed. However, he can at times get grouchy with students, and kept us after class at times. All in all though, a pretty good and easy class. Nice person.
Good history class. Pretty easy.
Love this class! Prof Jardine is super interesting and funny. Totally into his subject and you can tell from the passionate lectures. I want to get a good grade, but I like just going to class because it is interesting. I will definitely take his class again! Tumbs up!
good class, but didn't like so many quizzes or homework assignments that were boring, even though there are not to many of them. but the instructor love his subject and gets into the lectures, sometimes gets loud he is so into it, and that made it interesting. told great stories and has a lot of knowledge. wasn't very hard.
I loved this professor. Very approachable, interesting lectures, and his dry humor made him really funny. Homework can be time consuming and boring, but you only had to do 8/13 for credit. Drops the lowest exam out of 7, and is very easy to talk to. Even rounds grades up if everyone did bad on the test. Would highly recommend
I liked this professor alot too. He makes it clear what you need to do to get a grade and even helps you out by giving extra points if scores are low. Funny guy and makes lectures interesting. I would also recommend taking him for history.
Very good class n professor is nice and has a quirky sense of humor. Made history fun for me. Wasn't too hard. I would take again.
Made an impact after taking his class years ago so looked for it again. That the students understand the material seems to be his main concern, and isn't that the point? Too many profs are caught up in arbitrary details and take away from the material. His own interest in the subject shows and makes for great lectures; encourages questions
I have always like history, but jardine really gets you into it. If you do the assignments the way you are supposed to, an A is not that tough. I am taking a summer class from him, and it looks like the same easy to follow format. No comprehensive final, one small essay, some small exams, and some homework, but not that much.
i used to hate history, now i really like it, because of mr. j. take his class. not to hard if you study. nice guy and funny
You will have to pay attention in class if you want to get an A. The homework is long and boring but easy points. His tests are meant to trick you and make you memorize useless things. One thing I really liked though was that you can turn in your essay a few days the class ends. Boring lectures with many sidestories, but the class is doable.
Professor Jardine is an excellent lecturer. I didnt appreciated history during my high school years, but Professor Jardine approached the topic in such a wholistic way that I was able to comprehend the big picture and understand its importance for today. I also was suprised how he was able to teach without political bias. I really appreciated that
This was a good, solid class. Never was interested in history, but this prof makes it not boring. Grades fairly, good sense of humor. I would take again.
I took Mr. Jardine because of all the good reviews I saw on here, but really lectures the entire hour and 20 mins. So if you are okay with that then take him, but he can get off topic most times which leads him to lecture after class ends too. His tests are online and are all the same questions they are always asking except for... Which is hard.
Such a great teacher and he cares about his students. If you reach out to him hell help you. Would absolutely take him again
Do you want a professor who actually wants you to pass the class? Prof. Jardine was AWESOME. There were many times I didn't quite understand the lecture, he always took time to explain it and help in any way he could. 8 MiniExams, if you pay attention and follow the lecture you will pass. The final is a 5 page essay. I would take again in a second!
He is very knowledgeable but hard to follow. Lectures get off topic every day and are hard to listen to with slides that have little to no words. The tests are hard to comprehend with a small amount of questions that are worth a lot of points if you miss. I took extensive notes every day, did the homework, study guides and could barely keep a C...
Christian was a cool teacher. He really cares about what he teaches and loves it when you ask a question. Only thing negative worth mentioning is that i wouldnt take his class if you have another class right after. He went over his time limit every single class.
I really appreciated his passion for history. He went out of his way to make the material interesting. There are 7, 15 question exams that you must read the book and pay attention to the lectures for because they are not easy. He drops the lowest exam, but it is imperative to study. Would recommend him if you work hard!
Very into the subject, so much that it made me enjoy a subject I never liked. He makes you think and work but if you take class seriously he gives you the benefit of doubt if you are close to a grade. That was my experience anyway. I will be taking another of his classes next semester.
This class was fun and easy both. Professor Jardine knows hist stuff and his passion for history spices it up but also makes you think. This was one of my favorite classes in college so far. I would take him again if I decided to take another history.
I only showed up to class in the beginning of the semester. After that I stopped going. His quizzes were online and we also turned in homework online. There was no reason to go to class except to sit through his lectures, but his power points were also online.
I DO NOT recommend taking this teacher. His lectures go off topic. I sent him many emails, hardly responded. Does not grade anything throughout the semester. Worst history professor at Sierra college.
I loved this class. Prof was funny, fair, and class was interesting. Not easy, but not at all hard. What you need to do is clear and straightforward. I would recommend highly. And he got back to me every time I emailed him and he is willing to be flexible if you miss a deadline, as I did more than one time.
Class just ended yesterday and this was a surprisingly interesting class. He makes it fun with his knoledge and sense of humor and passion for teaching. I am taking him again this summer. It was not a hard class, I got an A with a basic time for studying.
This class was SO easy. I barely had to work, and didn't even buy the book and I got an A. Instructor makes it not boring too.
His quizzes are a bit weird but doable, they're timed for 30 minutes and you can't go back to a question (something I always do on test). The teacher himself is great and clearly loves the subject, he seems very approachable if you need it.
Really enjoyed this history lesson. Pretty easy grader, prof is funny and real passionate about history. Gives the class extra points on exams.
very fair and balanced prof. a good experience n moderate workload. very good sense of humor. gives you lots of chances and breaks if you mess up.
His tests are heavily weighted and his lectures are so long and pointless. Wasted my time taking this class but still passed. His take home essay has to be a FULL 5 pages or he will automatically give you an F on it.
My favorite teacher so far at Sierra. He got me interested in history and I never was before. His exams are not difficult and homework is easy. Funny guy. Very snazzy dresser.
Yeah, he made it way clear from the start in the syllabus and in class again and again that you had to write five pages in the essay. So I wrote five pages and got an A. Five pages is all. This was a good class. Professor Jardine was fair and worked with me on an issue I had with my work schedule. Cool guy and it is true he always dresses up.
Just found out my grade and am so happy. I struggled at the start but the instructor gave me lots of advice when I would stay after class and I kept at it and my scores went up and up. I still didn't think I would get an A but I did. He loves history and it shows. I am signed up for his summer class.
Grades are in, and I am good! I think history is boring but he is not. Makes it kind of interesting and basically grades on a curve that makes it easier to do good. It is mostly lecture but there is a lot of interaction with the class, easy to follow study guides and power points. Solid class.
7 quizzes, 8 homework assignments, 1 small essay. thats it. The key is to study from his study guides and take like a lot of notes. The book an the powerPoints were less important. And ask him questions during class after class make him think you are interested in the subject. If you already are even better. Do that stuff and the class is cake.
No midterms, no final, a little homework, all quizzes, and a little homework. Class was fair and easy and made you want to show up. Instructor gives you a lot of extra points for different reasons. Cool guy, funny, personable.
Easy, easy class and it makes history interesting not boring. Do good on a several short quizzes and you will likely get an A. Lectures mostly, but likes you to participate and hear your opinion if you want to. But doesn't pressure you and is all around nice guy.
super EASY n fun class. Only small exams all multipel choice. A little hw and 1 short essay. credit n everything put out is clear n simple. exams come mostly from lecture.
Jardine is a very good lecturer, but he doesn't give good exams. We are graded on an important exam each week, and each exam only has 15 questions for a total of 45 points. These exams weigh so much in the final grade and the questions in those exams are very trivial and I guarantee you can't find the answer in the textbook.
He is a lecturer but hey its a history class, the material is dry but he brings it to life with active engagement from the students. He would reward the "Participators" of the class for actively engaging back with him. Get to know him hes a good guy, highly recommend
He only lectures which can be taken negatively or positively depending on how you learn. Personally I do pretty well in school and I found this class difficult. Hes a great guy, but the exams he gives are hard and you cant go back and check your answers either which I dont think is really fair, but overall minimal homework and 1 take home essay
Christian is a great professor, lots of lectures but I found them interesting, he is very passionate about his topics. Going to his lectures and participating will result in a lot of extra points but attendance isn't mandatory. Very few and easy homework assignments. All exams are online but I found them very difficult and very heavy on the points.
Class is real easy and he makes it interesting. I didn't think history could ever be interesting but it was.
Talented teacher. Thoroughly enjoyed this class. Not that hard if you keep up. I would take him again.
Mr. Jardine is underrated as a teacher to me. He has much knowledge of his subject, passionate about it and gives you lots of ways n chances to succeed. I am taking him again in summer.
Super easy and cool class. I didn't even buy the book and got an A.
very good class. prof jardine made history very interesting, and it was pretty easy to get an A.
YES! Just found out I got an A and I wasnt sure cause it was pretty close. I was going to write this anyway, because it was a great class and professor Jardine is a great guy, but with the good news I am inspired to write this now. I defiantly recommend!
Everything for this class was done online so there was no need to go to his class especially cause his lectures were always off topic and very hard to get useful information from. His exams were confusing. Would not recommend this class through this professor
To give you an idea on how bad this class was my class started out with 32 people or the max and by the end of the semester there were around 11 people. He is not good at lecturing and his tests are misleading and hard to pass. I used all the resources I could get to finish this class. don't take it.
Overall, not a bad choice. However, his lectures are very boring and tests are quite difficult. He does offer a grade bump by a whole letter at the end of the semester but you have to have participated in class (answering questions, raising hands) in order to recieve the bump. The homework assignments are very easy and he always gave 100% on them.
To start off his lectures are so mind numblingly boring . The class ended over a week ago&i still dont know my grade cause he hasnt graded like 90% assignments. The final exam in this US HISTORY class was about the renaissance, he still has yet to correct it or respond to emails, he also has ton of typos and unclear comically bad instructions
He was an ok professor. His lectures were very boring and he tends to go off track a lot. There was a few homework assignments but trying to find where some were or when they were due made it tougher. Some assignments had extremely unclear instructions and tests were very hard.
This was beyond one of the hardest classes I have taken at ARC, especially with this professor. IF HAVE A DISABILITY OR STRUGGLE IN HISTORY, DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!!!!!!! Trust me. The testes are VERY HARD. NO STUDY GUIDES, use PP as study guides. POWERPOINTS ARE FULL OF QUOTES, LITTLE NOTES. NEED TO MEMORIZE ALL THE DETAILS FROM BOOK.
Not a great professor, not a terrible one either. Hes not a skilled test-maker nor an engaging lecturer. Take him if you have to and be prepared to work for your success. His tests are all over the place, and often about unpredictable things to which the course pays little attention. Dont walk in expecting an intuitive, engaging experience.
I had no other option but take 4B with Professor Jardine, after having a poor experience the semester before in 4A. As I anticipated, it was not great. Lectures are terribly boring, with many tangents that are irrelevant. Communication is terrible; don't even try to decode the syllabus. Tests are HARD- based off of his own VERY SPECIFIC words. RUN
Deadlines make no sense. He refuses to give actual dates since he teaches at different colleges, which puts a burden on his students. If his due dates were clear, he would have likely gotten a 4/5 at least, but organization is crucial to me, and he lacks greatly in that department. IF YOU ARE GOING TO TAKE HIS CLASS, DONT DO ONLINE!!
One of the funniest profs I have had. Very knowledgeable on subject and makes it very interesting with low key style. I would recommend
I am taking his online course for history 17A and he is the reason why I hate the subject. The tests are very difficult, they are based on two chapters and you get 30 minutes to answer 15 questions that are all "all of the following are true except ___" , and not to mention the answer spans across 3 pages of the book so you have 2 minutes to search
I took this class online during the summer and his homework assignments were easy but only worth 6 points. His exams are 15 questions but you only get 30 minutes to answer. They are all based off his lectures which were almost 3 hours long. His exams are worth 45 points and if you dont do well on the exams then it will be hard to pass with an A.
Just finished. The teacher was always around his computer in the online class and was very helpful. Tests are easy.
I have a feeling Professor Jardine was a great teacher in person. However, as an online teacher, unfortunately, he is struggling. The coursework is very confusing with deadlines that don't match what is posted on canvas. The course heavily relied on discussion board posts, which is awful. Causing a lot of the class to not participate.
I never really understood what he wanted from me, many of his lectures didn't comply with exams, he never told us what exams were on, EVERYTHING is a group project which in an online class is bad, doesn't post lectures on time, replies to emails past the time that it is relevant, grades two months after assignment, tests have wrong answers. BAD
Had unclear expectations, exams had factually incorrect answers or would say select two and it would only let you select one, lectures were posted halfway through module week, long lectures, TONS of group work (2/3 assignments were group), confusing deadlines. I do not recommend his class, find a different professor.
Once you get a grip on what he expects for his assignments, it is fairly easy. He is straightforward and provides a decent homework load. This is what I would call the most "average/"typical" professor. Zoom meetings aren't mandatory, but he kinda has a weird due-date policy... so assignments are usually due the day before they actually say. 6/10
To sum it all up. Worst professor EVER. Never take his class. Tests are heavy and make no sense. Long lectures that are super boring. Do not take his class.
Great class. Easy A and he makes it interesting. Funny guy. Actually dresses up for all online videos. I am taking him again.
6 hours of lectures a week, 3 hours of reading a week, and 4 hours of homework a week which includes terrible "group projects". His exams are done after his lectures and really have nothing to do with the book. Even his syllabus is a 1 hour long video. All of his group projects aren't dated correctly and actually require submission earlier.
class is not hard if you just stay on top of it. quizzes only that are simple, some homework, extra-credit.
Tons of lecture. Time spent per week on the class was excessive. The material was actually pretty good a lot of the time but the tests were made to be (purposefully) confusing and discussion boards were much too long, which discouraged actual discussion and encouraged filler.
Very Difficult Tests. Long lectures that have no key points, there are no notes, and you have to figure out on your own what to write. Out of an hour and thirty-minute lecture, there are no key points he wants you to focus on. Without notes, you are given a test that has 15 questions with a 30-minute time limit. Low time limit with no notes.
This class was rather unorganized and the Professor was pretty lazy about grading assignments. Most assignments werent graded until 8 weeks after they were due. Quizzes were unreasonably hard with a lot of which most describesquestions. The silver lining was that test were always boosted a few points afterwards and DBs were graded easily.
Lectures per week are a few hours total. No info on what actual notes should be taken. Textbook pages are about 50 per week. No info on what's actually important. Tests are 30 mins 15 questions and the questions can range from I could solve even without reading to completely obscure information I didn't know I had to know.
His lectures were usually 1.5 hours long, no clear points on the topics, and would base the majority of his lecture on information from other books. The quizzes are made purposefully confusing and they are timed given without any good ways to study. Assignments graded weeks after due date. Forgets to post lectures and assignments for the week.
Long lectures, lack of clear communication, forgot to post assignments, quizzes were confusing and often had questions not covered or unrelated to the subject, etcetera. I don't think he's cut out for online classes.
During every lecture uses umm every 3 words. Lectures are 3 to 5 Hours long each week. Asked for study tips and proceeded to send me a file that basically said study harder.
Long lectures and quizzes were on barely nothing on the lectures. I would not suggest taking him.
Lectured every class and powerpoint were from other textbooks but read everything onscreen and made comments about it. He has a fun personality. a TON of textbook reading, a chapter a week, and the chapters are long, but it's necessary. takes a while to grade things but is an easy grader. the mini exams are hard, and reading is needed to pass them.
Every second of class was spent on lectures. These lectures made it very difficult to stay awake. Every other word was um. Professor Jardine is a very nice guy and I like his personality, but his lectures lack effort and make it very hard for students to be engaged. The only way I got by in this class was with the weekly textbook readings (a lot).
One of the hardest classes I have ever taken. At one point during the semester he entirely stopped replying to everyone. Some assignments had due dates set but he forgot to unlock them so we could not do them. I had to get the department chair involved. DONT TAKE HIM!
This class is very lecture heavy and has lots of outside reading. The tests are SOOO hard! I tried reaching out to him and he genuinely cares about students, but the advice he gave me was hard to follow. He is a super nice professor and wants to help, the class is just really hard.
Look. This professor is by the books. You're going to show up to class, he's going to give a lecture the whole time without breaks. You won't get any assignments or homework but every couple of weeks you'll have a test or paper to do at home. It's extremely easy, low effort class and professor. And that's all there is.
He's nice, but he just lectures constantly and it's extremely boring. I seriously zoned out 100% of the time. His tests are hard for no reason and he never replies back to emails. His slides need to be updated and if you miss class, good luck figuring out what you need to know for the test!
He didn't have the write slides from homework, assignments and he doesn't move to different slides when teaching very boring in class and he doesn't grade a two-month homework that you did.
Professor Jardine's class is lecture-heavy with a lot of outside work. Tests are challenging, but he cares about students and wants to help. Unstuckstudy and the textbook were crucial for staying on top of the material.
He is extremely insensitive and rude. Has kicked multiple students out of the classroom for nonsensical reasons, ie. checking their phone or taking notes not up to his standard. Treats students with no respect.
This man is extremely inconsiderate and clearly does not care about the well-being of his students. On multiple occasions, he has kicked students out of his class for irrational reasons, treats his students with disrespect, and is highly condescending in how he speaks. If you respect yourself and your education, never take this professor.
Terrible formatting of the class. Had a very hard time with professor Jardine.
Prof. Jardine's teaching style was almost impossible for me to learn from. I received an F in his class and recently retook the same class with a different professor and got a 95%. He got through 3 slides each lecture out of 80 he had prepared because of his rambling, his assignments were extremely unclear, and he was not very nice. Overall not fun
Overall having this guy for History won't do you any wrong, he is well rounded. He teaches well and gives informational lectures, and his classes are not too hard to pass, just a few essays that are 3 pages. You can learn a lot! He's an older gentleman so if you have an email on canvas it might take him a minute to respond but we love him anyways.
Prof. Jardine's history course was pretty solid. He is more old school, so his lectures are very conversational, with him trying to get students to chime in. I liked that part, it kept me engaged with the content. He only gave out a few essays for homework, otherwise, all homework were take-home exams. I liked that he was funny and friendly too.
Lecture-heavy class, does a great job explaining and engaging. He is also a great guy.
