One of the most interesting teachers I have had. He is crazy and often hilarious. The only downside to having an ADD techer is the pirates, but they usually subside in several minutes.

Christian makes the class so much more fun than ANY other English teacher ever would. The class is never boring, he's open to comments and questions, and doesn't require too much. The class discussions are the best part of the class. Highly recommended!

Funny as hell

Kiefer is an awsome teacher. A bit of hard grader, But he teaches english through interesting subjects and he's Hella crazy ( draws on the walls and gives you funny nick names). oh... and he gives fun extra credit assignments. worth taking, but do the HW

Crazy teacher, writes on walls, tells off-the-wall stories with absolutely no point to them. Hard reading and hard papers but overall a good class. Reads peoples names off the roll even if they dropped the class because they are cool names. Very amusing guy. Good times good times. ADD 4 A GOOD TIME

What can I say about prof. kiefer? Well he was definitely been dropped down by aliens cause he's definitely not normal, IN A GOOD WAY that is. He is usually focused, until the pirates invade, thats when YOU should really be worried. But all in all if you don't want to fall asleep and you want to hear some interesting stories, sign up!

Easy grader, interesting reading. This guy is hillarious and pretty cool to talk to. Go check out his band hes pretty awesome to hang out with outside of class.

LOVE him, love the way he teaches. EXCELLENT for intelligent people who can write but hate acedemic english (or at least most eng teachers who may know what good writing is but couldn't do it to save their asses!) Really fun, very understanding and gives you a lot of wildcards to pick your own thesis. Promotes deep thought and grades for it.

This teacher is fairly easy. This class is not easy though and he also is a tough grader. Awesome teacher. You will laugh every minute that your in that class.

awesome teacher, there were times we didnt do anything in class. But do all your work. We only do 3 essays. No midterm or final. I missed one essay on accident and i recieved a D by the end of the semester. I did all my work. Even if you BS your work do it, itll help alot.

Kiefer is the best english teacher at arc by far! only 4 essays, no midterm or final, no quizes or tests, and he is very helpful. Kiefer knows his stuff and will help you out if needed. Dr. Kiefer says it like it is. He has a way with putting things into words that are very understandable. Though some of his texts are hard, he is very easy with the grading. He was as good, and his class was as fun as AP Lit was in HS. He adheres rigidly to the attendance, however, which allows for three days absence. Don't be plan on being late!

The Doc rocks!!!! He uses text that forces you to think. Attendence- very strict. However, you will not want to miss class. There is alot of freedom with the writing assignments. He is very accessible if clarification is needed. Do the little assignments, their points add up. Don't expect to turn in any late work...

Dr. Kiefer is great!! SO unconventional in his ways, yet effective. Don't expect to put in half-assed work and expect a good grade. He doesn't get down like that. He gives us plenty to think about in terms of where our individual lives are headed. I highly recommend taking his class. Be prepared for some jaw-dropping reality!!!

anyone who give dr.kiefer less than a perfect rating is a moron. Kiefer is so easy and so funny its impossible not to like him. I got a B because i was being stupid on my part. All u have to do is 4 essays and thats it. If this class was hard for anyone, good luck with the real world.

Favorite teacher ever.

Dr. Kiefs was so freakin' awesome! I've recommended him to everybody. His assignments make you think but he teaches you how to think outside the box. If anything is unclear he will discuss it with you until you understand it. I got an A in his class and I loved it so much that I never skipped class.

Dr. Kiefer is the coolest professor ever. I am so sad to be leaving his class because he's the best professor I've had so far. He is an amazing, fair guy and he is really cool with his students. By the end, it'll feel like you're his friend. For the final, we're all going to go to a restaurant to eat food. How cool is that?

LOVELOVELOVE this teacher! He's super funny and is easy to get along with. If you don't mind having an unconventional teacher, this is your guy! All you have to do is a few summaries and 4 essays. If you do them, you're likely to get a good grade. That easy. I usually hate English but he's made me feel the love for it again. :)

By far the BEST teacher ive have in college!! I have never liked english and was not looking forward to having to repeat the class, but I am so glad I took him when I repeated. His essay topics are more political/gov't like, but he is usually pretty specific on what he expects on them. I would most definitely recommend him to anyone and everyone!

DocFessor KiefZilla is a great teacher and he is really down to earth and helpful. Probably one of the best type of teachers a JC could offer. If you could become tenured purely based on performance he'd be a perfect candidate.

Dr. Kiefer is fantastic. He was a lot of fun in the in class discussions. He does teach you a lot about the proper way to write a paper, including how to get your mind to the right place to write a good paper. I'll be taking his 302 next semester.

I was in his online class. There are three essay assignments and weekly discussions boards. He makes youtube videos to explain the assignments, which I found really helpful. He is easy to contact and a pretty chill teacher. If you do the work you should get a good grade.

I took his online class and time passed really fast. He is cool and helpful. There were weekly discussion / response papers and a total of 3 essays to write. He is very nice as far as deadlines go. He would push it if students ask for it. Grading is fair and square. He is not an easy grader, but you pretty much get what you deserve.

Professor Kiefer was probably one of the best English teachers I've had in a while. He was very helpful and gave out challenging but easy assignments. The textbook is heavily used in his online course. Be sure to do all of the readings. He assigns "reading responses" almost daily and requires you to write 3 essays. I recommend you take this class!

Kiefer's hilarious and makes class very interesting.

He is one of the best English professors. I took his online class during the summer, 3 essays, reading responses each week. Learned a lot from his class. We mostly wrote about government, read the book Zeitoun which is about hurricane Katrina. His grades are fair and he respected our opinions. The last essay was the research type of paper.

Very high expectation from students. Very helpful, precise, clear, and communicates fast. This teacher does not lag especially, for his online classes. He is not an easy teacher, but very good & you'll be better writer after the course end. Complete all Hw, 3 major essays, class participation and keep up you should be able to pass his class.

Expects a lot from students. Took his 300 online class over the summer and decided to take his 302 this fall. A great professor and communicates fast. This teacher is for good writers. He is a hard grader. Not the easiest teacher but, you'll be a better writer after. Keep up with all the papers, hw, and participate then you'll past.

This guy is rad. Super laid back and loves to joke around a lot with students, but also very knowledgable and insightful. Assignments really make you think analytically, but are not too lengthy or unreasonable. Be warned though that he has not always read the books for the class so going into the semester, the subject matter is a surprise to all.

Dr. Kiefer is the man!! Show up to class do all your homework and write your essays! Do not be afraid to be vocal, Kiefer is so great because he wants to help his students write. Also responds to emails very quickly. I wouldn't say easy A but jus do what youre assigned and you should be able to get one!

One of the best English professors around, hands down! Kiefer's funny, laidback, and blunt. Don't think you can just fool around or that this is an "easy-peasy" class, though. If you put in the work and push your limits, not only will you get the grade...you'll further develop your writing and critical thinking skills as well. Highly recommended.

Kiefer, he is cool & ridiculous, in a good way. You work a lot by yourself but even though he seems careless and sassy even, if you need help, he is very helpful. The bad thing? If you don't like teachers being over familiar with students. He cusses and jokingly teases students. So you have to be quick witted sometimes.

He's a pretty cool teacher. Most of the homework is typing, printing out the 500 words or more, and then turning them in. In class we usually talk about the book we read. It's really easy.

Took Kiefer for 3 semesters. Out of all the classes, being in class in person is easier. Take Kiefer in person, you get to experience the full package! Do discussions, ask lots of questions to benefit you and do the 3 Major essays. Tough grader but Kiefer takes writing seriously, so take him if you want to grow as a writer and a critical thinker.

Online class is organized, if you do all your work you will pass with a decent grade. No late work accepted, so do not forget to turn your work in. Overall, not bad.

He is not the best professor I had, but he is one of the best!!! If you need help, he is there for you always! And he doesn't teach useless stuff that you wont need to pass his class.

The class was pretty simple. Homeowrk is discussions on d2l where he gives full points as long as you write something and 3 essays which he grades fairly.

He's definitely one of the most amazing profs I've ever had. I had a really rough semester but he was always understanding. He doesn't accept late work but he's always open to negotiate deadlines. Dr. Kiefer is an amazing teacher, he is hilarious and as long as you ask him for help he will help you. Make sure you read the homework though because the in class discussion usually has to do with the homework.

Seriously the funniest person I have ever met in my life. He makes the class atmosphere very comfortable because he is so chill and such a jokester. There are basically no lectures, the classes are usually spent talking about the book we are reading and writing assignment. All you need to do to get an A is keep up with responses and do you papers.

I've been taking him for a year. I'm not an American but I was able to pass his class without any problems. do you want to enjoy writing class? he is there for you. I promise you that you will have a blast during semester. If you do your work, you shouldn't worry about your grade; you will get based on what and how you do.

Great English teacher. Took the online version. Very straight-forward, just read, answer the question of the day on the discussion board, and respond thoughtfully. Essays require lots of thought and attention, so try not to slack. Grading is very fair and clear.

One of the best professors I've ever had!

Overall one of my easiest classes. Turn in every reading assignment and get Bs on your essays and you'll still get an A. Read 4 short texts and 1 novel over the semester which was sometimes difficult to get through. However, if you're in 480 you should expect to do some reading. Loved that Kiefer was so flexible with deadlines! Would take again.

Amazing professor. Really cares about his students and he gets to you know. Asks you about your day when class first starts. You read three books, the first two are super dull and boring the last one is awesome. Reading response after each reading. 4 essays all of which are on various topics from the books. Amazing professor.

Overall, a great class. He's a super chill dude and this class goes by super fast. You have no exams, just 4 papers which he will help you with if you go to his office hours. There's also group workshops, and sometimes you watch films to better understand the novel. I wish he was teaching 301!

Dr. Kiefer is super inappropriate, his class is rated R for a reason, he uses language and jokes around all the time, but never tries to assault anyone. Through out the course there are 3 books to read and 4 4-page-long papers to write. Reading responses are due every class, but it's not too hard. I would defiantly recommend his class!

Christian Kiefer Is the funniest english professor I've ever had. He was a professor at Stanford University. Loves to joke around and have fun in class with his students. He is really smart and believe me you will learn a lot.

Dr. Kiefer is hilarious. We spend about 30-45 mins each day to take roll, &he spends time getting to know each student. It's an entertaining class envrnmnt. Attendance basically mandatory; you are dropped after 3 absences. I found this annoying bc many of his classes aren't necessary for success w the papers. 4 big papers, lots of reading/writing

Professor Kiefer is one of the funniest teachers I've ever had. He picks novels which are interesting and fun for the class. Required four novels to read over the semester with four essays to go along with them. Has additional homework assignments based off the novels and sometimes has reading quizzes. Lots of writing and reading but worth it.

Kiefer is an AMAZING teacher, I have never received an A in any English class until his. He keeps each class light and fun so you don't dread going to class. If you put in the work that he asks there is no reason that you shouldn't pass. He is willing to help you become the best writer you can and I am so happy I took his class, so you should too.

Took his Online Class. A lot of Reading, some of the books are interesting but lots of reading for each class. A lot of Writing, 400 words total for each Class session. That really adds up if you have to do it every mon and wed. ( I hate writing, so it was even harder for me to write anything ) also 4 - four pg essays. He is not harsh on grading.

Took him for English 300. Best teacher ever! Always eager to help! Great sense of humor, by far the best class I've had. Assigns papers based on reading. Each reading followed by a reading response, easy points if you do homework.

Amazing person. Makes it a point to connect with each student personally. Assignments are simple and help towards the essays you write. Glad I took his class.

My favorite teacher so far! Gives a lot of reading. A reading response due after every reading assignment, about twice a week. He gives easy extra credit opportunities. Quizzes are the easiest things on the planet, he just wanted to know if you did the reading. NO MIDTERMS OR FINALS.

Professor Kiefer is the coolest professor at ARC. He's a rock star and a published author and has multiple degrees and takes time to get to know his class. He will always include each student equally, and knows how to make literature engaging and fun. I would take all of his classes, but I don't have any left to take! He knows a ton and will share.

I am not a huge fan of writing at all, but the books we read for this class were really good and it was easy to write about them. We had 2 summaries due twice a week for the chapters that were assigned, but as long as you actually do the reading you'll be fine. I got an A in his class, super easy, again, as long as you do the reading!

I took this course online and LOVED his teaching style. He had several youtube videos to go over a few things and a lot of really great feedback and information. It's an English class so reading and writing is expected, however I didn't feel it was excessive or difficult. The books weren't all my favorites but they followed a similar theme.

I was honestly terrified to take this course because it was a fast track class. I didn't think I'd be able to handle it, but I did. You have to make sure to stay on top of your reading and assignments to pass. There were 3 papers due but they were easy. The readings were AMAZING! Let the Water Hold Me Down by Michael Spurgeon is a GOOD read.

If you do the work you will get a good grade. He asks for what he wants and if you give it you will do great. You cant be lazy in this class though. Keep up and just do it and its an easy A.

Great Class! Just sign up already! No tests + 4 4-page essays + 2x a week book responses. You should probably get What It Takes, but some of the other books have a free online pdf version (check before you buy!). Do your work and you should pass the class.

Kiefer is def someone anyone would take and love unless they seek some extreme AP sort of challenge course. Kiefer is super real, funny, and very understanding. No late work accepted, and he grades quickly and generously. Easily became my friend. He cares and talks to students (probably more than teaching hah). Would take again for anything. easy.

This class was always funny. I'd always end my day here and I would never be tired. He assigned the class 4 papers throughout the semester. A reading response is due almost every class session. Reasonable, but A lot of reading. Last few weeks you had 2 pop quizzes. Not a super serious class. Overall Good, I would take again. Most work done at home

This teacher is Amazing! I really appreciate Dr. Kiefer. He cares about his class and he is incredibly smart and way overqualified for a job at a community college. If you need extra help, he will help you kindly and give you really good feedback and information.

When I first seen Professor Kiefer I was judgmental but when you get into class he is awesome. If I could take him for every class I would. Of course he has a lot of reading but its an English class. He does 4 essay papers along with reading responses. Nothing to hard ever.

I can't tell how amazing he is. He's the coolest, nicest professor I ever met. He gives a lot of homework, but it does not really matter for me because I believe that's an obligation so I just try my best to finish it. but, he always gives students more time to complete the papers. He's a good teacher, although you will have a lot of reading and responses due. He grades fairly and if you do your work you should pass with an A easily. I took his class online and he made it easy to understand what is expected of you.

Super great teacher, he is super hilarious and really cares about his students passing. Only four papers in the class that require a decent amount of work, but if you read the books and do the assignments well, its easy to pass with an A. I took Professor Kiefer online for English 300 and really enjoyed his class. You have 2 assignments every week which are short summary and responses on the book your reading. He has a total of 4 papers, and he responds to emails quickly. He can help if you have any questions on paper, overall he is a great Professor.

Kiefer is by far the best and most outgoing Professor I have taken for English. His grading is clear. Everything you see on his syllabus is everything due at the date written. Very funny man, you have to read the books he assigns for you will be writing papers on all of them. Overall a great,understanding Professor.

Dr. Kiefer is my favorite professor I've had so far in my 23 years of life. He's highly educated, hilarious without trying, and very considerate with everything. We, as a class felt he had a lot on his plate so we decided to shift gears to online. But I knew everyone would have preferred to meet physically, he truly is a gem! Highly recommend!!

This was a relatively easy class, there is homework due every day for the summer course mon-thurs, which I didn't like. However, the homework was easy, and the books read were really interesting and he provided a lot of helpful information. I personally would have liked a bit more feedback to see and improve on what I was writing.

I took the 6 week summer course. Overall grade consists of 3 essays and discussion posts. For the discussion post, you are assigned reading then you summarize it and respond to the question Kiefer asks. He is very quick at replying to emails and gave me extra comments on my essays when I asked for it. Overall 100% recommend taking Kiefer

He was clear in his grading criteria and responded to emails quickly. When I was docked points, his comments made clear what could have been changed, allowing me to do better on the next major writing assignment. Lots of reading in this class but it was interesting. Stay on top of discussion board posts and deadlines and you'll do fine!

If you have both a sense of humor and a will to pass, this will most definitely be an easy A. Show up to class and do your reading so you're informed in class. 4 essays due, but he will help you with them if you need it. Honestly he is the professor that made college seem not so bad. 10/10 Recommend to take him.

A teacher who genuinely wants his students to pass. Be prepared to do work, it's an English class, maybe reassess your expectations if you don't expect to read/write papers. He offers extra credit, takes breaks to tell funny stories and gets to know his students. Communicate if you're having issues completing work and show up to class. You'll pass.

Dr. Kiefer is a professor who genuinely cares about your success and is very easy to talk to. Yes there is a lot of reading (50 pages twice a week) but reading and doing the responses are the only homework plus the books he picks are bad. As long as you do your work this is probably the easiest English class you can take.

This class was super easy. All you have to do is submit the assignments and essays. There was 4 essays all semester, a summary, a critique, an analysis and a synthesis essay. If you follow instructions for them, you can easily get 100% on them. This class was an easy A and Dr. Kiefer was great to work with!

Dr. Christian Kiefer was an amazing teacher. Because of COVID, the class was online, and Dr. Kiefer was very understanding and helpful. He answered emails in a timely manner and gave good feedback when grading papers. All you have to due is follow the guidelines and read all the books to get a good grade.

Great choice of book. I learned many things and it really opened my world view. Especially on current matter of the world. Of course it's an English class so you need to prepare to read a book (like stop complaining, do some reading instead, or be smart and skim it super fast). Great effort to bonding despite online class.

Kiefer is VERY critical of essays; the mean grade for most essays in my class was in the 70% range. One of his limitations as a Prof. is that he doesn't explain things in a lecture. I haven't needed to email him for much assistance but whenever I have emailed, he's helped. He does say "Google it" for MLA formatting. The class is straightforward tho

Kiefer is the coolest dude in the world. He's been near and dear to me for a long time, I took all of his classes and then sat in on some without getting credit to learn more. Dude is genius and truly takes the time to help his students do the best they can. I love Kiefer so much. Take the class, you won't regret it

Professor Kiefer has really good taste in books, because this is the first time I enjoyed reading assigned books. The "textbook" is really helpful with providing tips on how to write the essays, but you can honestly just follow the format the example essay in the textbook for an easy A. He responds within 1-4 hours of emailing him.

Professor Kiefer is incredible! The dedication he has for his students really shows. He's clear in his assignment instructions and is extremely helpful regarding any questions and concerns. I LOVED his class and would highly recommend it to anybody.

As a first time college student I am genuinely happy that I chose him as my professor. He is seriously so understanding about situations and is very lenient w/ HW. Although there is lots of reading and lots of paper due, he gives plenty of time to turn it in and provides PLENTY of EC. He is srsly the best English professor and I recommend him 100%!

Quite a bit of reading but unmanageable, he has a very good class schedule and timeline throughout the semester that makes it very easy to manage with other classes.

Dr. Kiefer was great! Very kind, helpful, and very quick to respond to emails. VERY UNDERSTANDING! You get a book about how to write at a college level (very helpful examples). You do reading responses for the assigned reading sections (do them thoroughly, save them, you use them a lot for your essays) and 4 papers on three books. 10/10 recommend!

Christian Kiefer is really nice professor, he was kind and always nice to me. He really cared about students, he won't put an F for like no reason. We had a lot of reading but it wasn't too much, I would say it's good for a ENG class. On the last essay he graded me really good, but I don't think that my essay was nice. So I recommend him.

His assignments were very clear, if you follow the instructions exactly you will likely get an A. Follow the "What it Takes" essay formats when writing your essays. His videos were extremely helpful, I wish he posted more of them. It would have been nice for more feedback and comments on the essays. It felt like he just graded them and didn't care.

Such a great guy who is also ever understanding especially when life throws you a curve ball. I loved his class and the books we read, 4 essays with class discussions twice a week. Easy as long as you dont fall behind. Would recommend him to everyone.

Great Guy! I took him for the summer, ENGWR 300. Definitely have to stay on top of the reading, but if you do this, you will be golden! He is very understanding and fair in the grading. If you put in the effort, you will do fine.

I took him as a dual enrollment class and his class was very simple if you get your work done. While you do read multiple books and have multiple papers. It isn't as bad as it sounds. His grading is very clear and his instructions as well. He is very understanding. I recommend this class heavily!

Terrified of English?? Take this professor. Amazing. Chooses great books to read!! I enjoyed this class and I strongly dislike English. Clear grading. Just wants to see your effort. Always there to help you succeed.

So glad I had the opportunity to take this class. The books we read this semester were all incredibly interesting, especially as someone who doesn't particularly enjoy English. The way his class is formatted is easy to follow, includes discussions plus four essays. As long as you follow his rubric and stay up on reading, you'll do just fine.

Great professor, but you have to be ready to work a lot. If you take this course for 8 weeks only, you'll have to read 3-5 chapters and write reading responses daily, with one summary at the end of the week. Do not try to cheat because the professor uses unique programs that will catch you anyway. Work alone, read, and write.

I really liked this class! We read some really good books that made you get to think about different issues. We did a fair amount of homework and read a decent amount. However, as long as you do everything and try, you will definitely get an A.

Best English teacher I've ever had. The assigned books are amazing; Touches on real life topics. 2 assignments a week unless there is a paper due so the workload is not heavy. He is very clearly caring and empathetic. 11/10 would recommend any of his classes!!

Dr. Kiefer's English writing class was my first college course ever. It was an online course but all the material was super easy to understand and accessible. He encourages his students to reach out to him if they need help and for the most part, answers quickly (within a day). The books for this class are very interesting and informative.

He is a very understanding and well organized professor who has understandable and straightforward assignments. The assignments are well chosen and will relate to the essays! It can be workheavy but it's overall a very insightful class. He is very generous with the grades when deserved. One the the greatest English course experience! Recommend!

Overall this professor gave pretty interesting books to read. He is a somewhat hard grader when it comes to essays other than that the reading responses are an easy A. He gives plenty of time for essays, and not to much work other than reading.

Great professor - engaged, empathetic and understanding. Manageable workload with interesting reading and helpful textbook/writing guides. Leveraged unstuckstudy alongside reading notes to ace the essays. Definitely recommend this class!

With the extra credit being so much and the criteria being so clear, this class should be an easy class for people who know how to pull a few sentences together. Mind you, be prepared to pull enough of those to fill AT LEAST 4 pages per paper. Overall, the class is super easy for those who remember to do things on time. Also, do read the books.

Professor Kiefer was good. I did like him and the works that he chose. I will say, bro is very hands-off. I would have really appreciated lectures from him, which he did send Youtube links to them. But it leaves a bad taste in my mouth when someone's videos are from 2020. I would have put less effort in had I known what I was getting into.

Lots of reading and writing every week but overall good professor. Good communication with students, and an average grader, not tough but not easy.

Fair amount of homework in the beginning, it gets easier. Use authenticity not AI. He's a fair grader and makes taking an English class tolerable. Amazing professor!

He communicates with you well. Only assigns 2 discussions a week being every Monday & Wednesday, he only asks you to respond to 1 student. As long as you don't use AI he won't give you bad grade on discussions! Papers are pretty easy to get done if you just throughly read the Prompt. His class is honestly easy to pass if you like reading/writing.

Workload for this course was pretty fair, 2 reading responses a week and 3 papers throughout the entire semester. Rubric for papers is clear and he grades fairly, also a lot of opportunities for extra credit. Should have no issues if you stay on top of your reading.
