One of MC's finest! he rocks the house with his styles of teaching. it was America's Pop Music class... and he made it SO much fun. he has some wild and crazy stories from the 70's. if you enjoy rock n' roll... you will get a kick out of his class.

He Rox!!
He is the man. He was my music teacher at St. Peter's School in the 90's. He has plenty of knowledge of music. He had a blue Ford Fiesta. Great teacher!
Prof. Harris RAWKS! His test are farely simple, as long as you study the study guides. Mainly all the tests are based on the study guide, so study it hard! He really knows his music information, plus he's always cracking jokes! VERY GOOD PROF!
Ward, is a wonderful Professor! I went into his class, not knowing much about Jazz, and when it was over, I had much more appreciation for music and actually understood it.
He is AWESOME SOOOO FUNNY AND ENTHUSIASTIC!!!!
Nice. Fun. easy. crazy about music. knows everything abt the subject. joking all the time. Study for midterm all your notes and his handouts & study for the final the review questions + the midterm questions. attend the class. Got an A.and my friend, too.
nice, easy, patient all the time. Tests? easiest!!! Go to his class and get an "A". good luck, everybody.
Great class. I loved hearing the stories, and even bought a few of the albums he played for us. Definately take at least one class with him if you can.
Never have I seen a teacher so energetic! I took this course during the summer and he would come in every morning with some new story or song for us to listen to. Tests covered material spoken in class so there were no surprises. A must take class.
great clatt tests fairly easy if you like music take this class thats all you do all class is listen to music
He is really funny and nice, and his tests are easy.
great proff!! he is so energetic and if u love music ull love him. hes funny and makes music intresting. his tests are easy and the music is fun to hear well he makes it that way. i reccomend all the way hes very nice teacher!!
Great class! Great Professor! I don't think I've ever had as much fun in summer school as I had in his class.
Took his class as a fun summer course. I didn't mind waking up for it! Very energetic and fun. I thought the tests were easy, but I already listened to a lot of the music he brought in. They are very straightforward though.
great teacher, the best i have had at MC! very easy class too
Very involved. Brought in personal record collections, very passionate about what he teaches. Tests were very much based on class notes. There was one paper which was 25 pages (made up of small, opinion essays). Willing to work with all students.
GREAT TEACHER!
Classes are a blast, very broad coverage of music history and literature. Extremely nice guy who makes everything fun. Is perfect for filling electives or just taking a class for your major. So far, my favorite college professor at this time.
This man is AWESOME. He is full of energy and passion. He obviously loves music and teaching. I never had a teacher with so much enthusiasm every day. He's never down and never gets tired. A great class to wake up to in the morning. Listen to the c.d. and you'll ace the quizzes. Take good notes and you'll ace the exams. Excellent prof, best ever!
Probably the chillest teacher you'll ever have. Has excellent knowledge and knows his subject very well. Makes the subject easy to grasp.
great teacher
He is a really nice professor. I have learend a lot from him. It's a fun class!!
He is awesome! Study with him you will have a lot fun! he is really cute and gentle! nice professor, u can learn a lot from him
I love Prof. Harris!!!! He totally rocks!! The class was abt classical music but never once boring!! FUN FUN FUN!! Take him if you have a chance..
Took a few classes with him. Very hyper, very energetic, very helpful, very nice. In our Jazz Ensemble, he treated us @ Ledos. He is indeed a great human being
Very very good professor:) you have to take this music class if you into music. he is super great.
ANOTHER GOOD TEACHER. PATIENT AND KIND WILL TAKE TIME TO EXPLAIN.
He made the test so easy and they were the same over and over again. so all you have to do is memorize it and only the last test counts. he is a funny cool teacher. and he loves teaching and music
I wanted to rate Pro. Harris, despite not finishing his class, cuz he left such a great impression on me. He is a brilliant teacher. And such a crazy fun character to watch. His teaching style is dynamic and he draws you in. (I am not familiar with music history, but he makes me want to explore it with his charimatic approach to the material.)
EXCELLENT prof!!!! you don't need to buy he book (it's just gonna be waste of money) He teaches everything you need to learn. You'll also learn a lot of musical symphonies too!
This teacher is one of the best professors. he really have idea about what he teaches
He dances to the music, greatest thing ever. never left the 60s. he may be better than santa claus, maybe.
Professor Harris's passion for music shows through his style of teaching -- enthusiastic and energetic. Although the course only covers classical music, I enjoyed all the music we listen to in class. Just make sure you take good notes and attend class to do well on his quizzes and exams. I would definitely recommend him for any music class.
Best MUSIC TEACHER!!! He's interesting to listen to. He knows every popular artist and song. He opened up music that I wouldn't have thought to listen to.
He uses the textbook in his classes to back up his teachings. He is energetic and uses CD's and/or DVD's to show his points. His "Exercises" (dislikes the word Test) are easy if you study exactly what he says to study. The best classes (MU110, MU136) I've ever taken. Take them with him!
He is an excellent teacher. You will love him and learn to love music. I will recommend him to any one.
Professor Harris is the best. Test are hard but just remember to listen to the music and study the study guide he gives. Class was very interesting. He is the best.
Awesome professor. Study the study guides thorouly. 95% of the questions on the exams are exactly the same as the questions on the study guide. He tells you about his personal experiences and most of the class is devoted to listening to music. A fun and easy class with a great professor. I definitely recommend him.
This guy is the greatest teacher known to students. I really want to achieve something great in life just so i can call him in the future and tell him that i got here because of him. Seriously you are missing out if you don't his classes, any of them. I promise you will love.
Best teacher I have ever had.He is the coolest teacher you will ever have. He is funny, energetic, intellegent, and fair. He is very passionate and dedicated to the students. i highly reccomend him for any class.
I am very sad that I wont find any professors in my life that are as good as Prof. Harris. I think all the MC professors should go to his course and see how he teaches. I just enjoy learning with him even dont care about the grades. He will give you a review sheet before every test and 95% will be on the test.Take him and be hurry b/c he is so hot
Prof. Harris is extremely knowledgeable when it comes to music; it's his life. I underestimated this class, thinking I know alot about music, but we studied from 1920-1980, not alot of new music. If you like classic rock, R&B, or classical music in general, take this class. I wish I could take it again to get more info. Harris is the man!
like tony the tiger..... HEs GGGGRRRREEEEAAATTT !!
He is so passionate about what he teaches! Very nice guy. Come to the lectures, take good notes, and look over them for the tests and you will get an A.
As everybody has said, Mr. Harris is a GREAT teacher, just as he is a great person. He cares about his students, and talks to them like friends. He is very energetic and a very fun person to talk and listen to. After taking mu110 with him, I will try to take another with him.
ward harris is awesome. he tells you exactly what to study and is so passionate about his subject, he makes every second of class fun. he makes you WANT to be there. by far the best professor i have ever had. he completely changed my prespective on classes.
This guy is nuts. He loves teaching and his class goes by fast.He isnt hard if you make an effort and you have a great time.
He's the man.
He is the best professor ever!! I have never seem a man with such great personality. He opened my eyes to music and much much more!! Take him!!!!!!A++++++++
Fantastic teacher. Really into his subject, and makes people enjoy being there. It's worth taking the class just to hear this dude talk; he is hilarious! Also an inspiring human being in general.
One of the best classes I've taken at MC.
Amazing professor. I took classical music appreciation and I never thought I would enjoy it a much as I did. He said the first day of class that we would get our moneys worth, and I did. He was always enthusiastic, energetic, and had a sense of humor. Very nice and respectful as well. I would Definitely recommend him.
super easy, and super hilarious - you'll need to buy the cds, but don't bother getting the book. i never read a word of it all semester and got an A
Good!
Cool class. Prof. Harris is a great person with lots of passion for the art. He really knows tons about music and kindly identifies, in no time, the students who are music junkies too. He loves the 60's, McCartney, and the Beach Boys' Brian Wilson, so be ready. He crafts his tests easy for those who are not familiar with music history.
He is a must if you are a music lover. He is the best :], but do not text or talk during his class!
Great professor!!!, very passionate when it comes to teaching. Helpful and definetely a funny/nice guy. He will give you handouts for the written tests. For the listening just buy the CD's and he will tell you what tracks will be covered on the test. Just be on time, show up and go over handouts! Best professor so far in MC. He is an A+++
This is the best professor EVER!!!!!! Im not majoring in music but i need the credits so im taking another class of his just because he is soooooo good. Very funny and nice :)
I took his American Popular Music class over the summer. I had fun every single day in his class. Very easy to get an A just do the study guides and your gold. It's the best class ever! Professor Harris is hilarious and has the best stories to share. If you need an art or elective credit, seriously take this class! Take anything with him!
I'm not a musical person, but with Prof Harris I learn a lot of thing. I really like the listening part.
Funny teacher. tests are fill in the blank so some studying is required. dont talk in class, take notes, and review your notes and you will do well in the class.
He is an amazing teacher listen to the songs and you will get all of the listening portions right. He makes everything so easy for you. I Love Harris.
Great teacher. Funny. Cd's are a necessity. Listen to selected listening list. A lot of memorizing but it is easy if you put some time into it.
He is the funniest and most helpful professor. He's class is easy if you do the work. You will never get bored in his class because he makes the subject intereseting. You should take his class
Awesome class, Awesome professor, period. Listened to and learned a lot about the music industry's history. Need to do some readings but no problem at all since subject is so interesting.
his tests are HARD and takes his class so seriously, and hsi tests are like the tests you would take in a u.s history course..WASTE OF MY TIME!
Great Prof! Great interest, loves what he does, and cares about you. VERY interesting... (history of us pop music)
he is so awesome. I took 5 classes but Music had to be my favorite. He is educated and funny. he is super happy and corny but you get use to him. The test is everything on the study guide. Memorize and you will pass with no problem. You need the book. I recommend him to EVERYONE. take his class asap before he retires.
He takes his class too serious, and always talks about topics that are not relevant to the course, definitely a waste of time
Ward Harris is one of my favorite music teachers. Music is my life, and having him as a professor is such a breath of fresh air. I've known him going on 5 years now, so I've gotten used to his crazy antics in the classroom. He's a wonderful professor and loves what he does. His love for music clearly shows in how he teaches. He's very clear.
Prof. Harris is a very good teacher, and his class is easy as long as you study for the exams, but the most important thing is attendance. In his mind, the only reason for being absent is being dead, and if you miss more than three classes, no matter the reason, your grade will drop by one letter, even if you have gotten 100% on all of the tests.
Hes On Fireeee, HES THE COOLEST TEACHER!! HILARIOUSLY FUNNY. BUT SERIOUSLY THE COOLEST TEACHER I HAVE EVER HAD. SO FULL OF LIFE AND CARES ABOUT HIS CLASS. It would be great if all teachers could be like him, but, their not. THIS CLASS ALSO WILL AWAKEN PARTS OF YOUR SOUL THAT YOU NEVER NEW EXISTED WHEN YOU LISTEN TO THE MUSIC.
I enjoyed this class immensely. Each session was planned and presented clearly. The professor put a lot of effort into making sure we got the most out of the material.I learned so much from this class. He gave us complete study guides which were helpful in preparing for the tests. It was a great class and I would recommend this professor highly.
I am a nursing student with no interest in music before Professor Harris. I took his class because I needed an Art elective. I must tell you he is an incredible teacher! After 5 weeks (summer I), I am a changed person. As a nursing student, I am applying what he taught me to better relate with my elderly patients.
Best professor I've ever had. He cares so much about his students and about the course material. Very funny and energetic, and opened my eyes to types of music I wasn't interested in before. All test questions are pulled from the study guides, so do them and you'll be fine. I wish I could take his class every semester!!!!
MUST ATTEND CLASS TO DO WELL OR BUY BOOK. he gives study sheets b4 tests. and you MUST study and take notes otherwise you will NOT do well. the class is fun and entertaining and your learn a lot. but tests are free answer so you know it or not. beware ppl get extreamly bad grades thinking you don't need to study.tests ARE CUMULATIVE
For all you non-music people out there...this class is harder than you think. Definitely not a breeze or an easy A.
Awesome Professor!! Very funny and relate-able! The way he delivers his lectures is very understandable. TAKE NOTES!! If he mentions it in class, you should know it!! Use the Selected listening guide as well, you need to know the music for the tests! YES, YOU NEED TO KNOW THE MUSIC WHEN YOU HEAR IT!! It's part of the tests!
I took this class over the summer, and it is by far the best class I ever took at MC. Overall, he is an awesome teacher, and its an awesome class. I learned so much. The book is a must, and the tests are based on the study guides he gives, but you still need to study. Attendance is also required. I highly recommend this class to everyone!!!
Professor Ward needs to continue lecturing. His is the best class I've ever attended. He keeps it interesting and gives his students something to look forward to each time they come in. His study guides are incredibly useful. No hardworking student can fail in this class
I was very mistaken that this class would be easy. I dont understand his notesb that he writes and he never reviews anything. He lectured us on the last day of class on something we never even talked about it. I thought he was a nice guy but not a very good teacher. Very old fashioned. I would not recommend this teacher.
Prof. Harris is an outstanding teacher. he will explain everything clearly. aside from being a great teacher he is an amazing musicologist. he's pretty funny too. if there is one teacher you need to take at MC let it be him. his class is no easy A but its not impossible either, just study your notes and you'll be fine. he giver great notes also.
I took him over Summer '14. Amazing professor, such a great class! Highly recommended.
One of the most wonderful teachers I've ever had! He makes difficult material easy to remember and is very fairs out letting you know what you'll be tested on. I highly recommend Professor Harris to anyone with a passion for music!
This class is not an easy A. Put in the work and time and you will get a good grade. Prof Harris is great! Funny and passionate. He makes class very entertaining. He knows its tough so he's very willing to help in any way he can. I have no musical talent or interest what so ever but I learned a lot in his class and enjoyed it very much!
This guy give scenarios for almost all the music played, just ask him about the lady in the produce section of the grocery store lol
Professor Harris is amazing! He's passionate about music, and committed to helping you pass the course. He makes his expectations crystal-clear. If you study the materials he gives you, you'll do fine; Don't waste your money on the textbook, though. Warning: ATTENDANCE IS MANDATORY. after several absences, your grade automatically starts dropping.
He is easy just take notes in class and you will be fine
LOVED this guy! He's hilarious, honest, and so kind! He really loves his music, and take it seriously. Here are some tips: Don't skip class, TAKE and memorize your NOTES, Download + listen to the songs on the listening sheet (no, not the day before the listening exercise lol) , and you'll pass! Easy A, fun class to take for art credit.
Professor Harris tries really hard to be funny, which works sometimes but it got annoying after awhile. Be ready to take notes on everything he says or you won't pass. The tests are ridiculously long, at least a couple of pages long. The class is only about classical musical and you have to remember the songs by heart since you'll be tested on it.
I did not enjoy his class. He is a very nice person but the content taught was very long and strenuous. Lots of it were memorization of certain songs with very long name titles.
Professor Harris is a nice and funny guy, and I pretty enjoy the class. However, this is the hardest class I've ever had! There are tons of things to memorize for the exams and it's freaking hard!! Every exam is awful nightmare, and don't expect for a easy A.
He is a really nice teacher, he makes his lectures fun, and he cares about his students. I found it to be a really interesting and informative class. However don't slack off, you really have to pay attention, take good notes, and study to do well his the class.
professor harris knows what he's teaching. He is very enthusiastic about his work and wants students to succeed. HOWEVER, his exams are very hard if you don't study and you can't miss class. Not only is it hard to catch up but you won't understand the material on the tests AT ALL.
Great teacher. He is hilarious and always had me laughing. But he is very serious about his class. Participation and attendance is required. The tests were very long and it was a lot of memorization. Listening portions were hard. I underestimated the class and thought I could just pass through it. Make sure to take notes in class. Recommend
He is really clear in explaining the material so that you can easily remember it. He is weird & funny which makes the class a lot of fun. Look over the review guides+notes in class (you take a lot so you gotta be there) and listen to the music he assigns and you should pass with an A. I would totally take this class again! Dont need the book at all
If you aren't into music and don't have good memory, don't take this class.. you'll fail.
Professor Harris is a really cool guy. His class is not that hard. All you have to do is show up, take good notes, and you'll be fine. The music can be boring at times.
Hes so funny!! I absolutely loved his class because of him, not the material. Its simple stuff but its A LOT of material. If you're looking for an easy A class, I dont think this is one. Its a lot of memorizing. If you dont, I would be hard to pass the class. I am truly gonna miss him. Great professor!!
I agreed that he is hilarious and always laughing. 1. He is counting every participation and attendance. 2. Tests were about 45 questions mostly, and 3 to 4 pages long. Test format is Short Answer ONLY. It is more than Psychology and Sociology class. - If you want to try to get an A? Sorry. This is not your class. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS.
Listening to Music is far harder than it sounds, but definitely a class you can get an A in. There are three tests the semester, each bigger than the last, with listening portions on the later two. You must study the music, and read the notes you take in class. If you do this, easy A. If not, you will fail, because listening is half the points.
I really enjoyed this (hard) music class. Do not be fooled and think that just because it is a music class that it is easy. It was the hardest music class I have ever taken. As long as you show up and pay attention you will get an A. Attendance is the most important thing. The professor is very very friendly and a pleasure to work with in general.
Great lectures, NOT an easy A. Test format is Short Answer ONLY. First test is difficult if you don't study A LOT. 4 pages for the first test. The tests get harder from there. You HAVE TO attend class and take good notes. Otherwise, you will NOT pass. I enjoy the class otherwise. Get ready to STUDY.
Professor Harris is one of my favorite professors at MC. I took him for listening to music and it was the best experience ever! He made his lectures so fun and interesting it's hard to forget. He gives handouts and explains everything so well. I genuinely suggest you take his class.
Great Professor. He's very passionate about his job.
noo, save YOURSELF. I took his Listening To Music class and we did NO listening of music whatsoever. This class is more like "Music History", and you have to take TONS of notes. Study HARD, honestly, hardest class i've taken because everything about it was misleading. I would not recommend this class to anyone unless you want to die
If you want to have a better understanding for the foundation of music take this class. It is fairly easy if you attend most of the lectures. Professor harris provides notes. If you study his notes and the notes you take in class, this should be an easy A. 10 out of 10 would recommend.
Harris great asset is his capacity to transmit his knowledge of music to the students. His lectures are always very interesting and he opens the mind of students to the exciting world of classical music. He is an exceptional professor and I highly recommend his courses to anyone interested in Learning.
Your final is a cumulative exam so make sure you do well on all 3 of your previous tests. Get the book just in case because his notes have some info that isn't on the test. Always review the listening segments so you can memorize them. If you have any more than 1 other class I suggest you wait for this to be your last class of your major. Study!!!!
I took Professor Harris' Music 110 class, and It was one of the best class I have ever taken. Professor Harris is a great teacher, simply one of the best. He teaches in a way that is easy for you to comprehend. Also, he has a good sense of humor. If you appreciate music, and what to learn how it works. Professor Harris is the teacher for you.
Show up to class + Study your notes + Do the work You'll pass!!!
He's an amazing professor. He'll summarize chapters, so basically you don't need a book. Just go through the notes as he gives you, don't wait before the test. Tests are long but super easy. Keep the tests and study them before final. Most of the questions are exactly the same. There will be list of songs you will have to memorize. CLASSICAL MUSIC
if you miss multiple classes, he will suggest and highly imply to drop the course or he will fail you
He is an amazing prof. If he is still teaching(He's been talking about retiring) you should defiantly take him! There was only 4 test including the midterm final. One essay due at the end of the semester based off of a concert you attend during the semester. Just show up, focus/listen, and study. This isn't memorization class, but he makes it fun!
Great professor. He's very passionate and it makes you want to do well in the class. Tests are easy if you take notes in class and take time to review. I enjoyed every class and looked forward to hear him teach. The class focuses on classical music. There's a lot of information, but he breaks it down well and makes it easy to learn.
Come to class and you'll pass. All his exams are literally everything we learn from lecture. He gives you ample time to study and gives you a lot of extra study guides prior to the exam. He literally hands you the exam throughout his lectures with hints.
Prof. Harris was one of the best teachers Ive ever had. He teaches with such enthusiasm that even if you dont like music youll love this class!
Prof Harris is extremely enthusiast about music which makes learning for the student more enjoyable, & easier to comprehend. He loves what he teaches & takes interest in his students' success. He's incredibly knowledgeable about music. You learn a ton! You not only learn about music but useful listening skills for everyday life too. Best prof ever!
One of the best courses & professor!! The course is very interesting and it broadens your horizons regarding the classical music world. The professor is AMAZING!! Not only did I love his lectures, but his way of conveying the information in a fun and interesting way. If you review the material it is not a hard course to do well in.
Prof Harris is the teacher I have had. He was amazing, great lecture easy to understand just a little bit of effort and you will get an A. He tells you exactly what you need to know for the tests. There are not too long and very easy if you pay attention during lecture. Ill definitely recommend him
From day 1 of this semester I could acknowledge Professor Harris´enthusiasm for teaching the ways of understanding music from different periods/styles. I myself have never studied musical history or even basic Elements of sound/Colors, but during this semester I can confidently say that I HAVE learned many features. Thank you Professor Harris.
Had a lot of laughs in this class. Prof. Harris is a phenomenal educator; makes classical music accessible to the layman. Show up and put the effort in, you'll easily pass his 4 exams. Being able to appreciate music is pretty special--gives us insight into the human condition. Truly grateful to Prof. Harris for sharing that gift. Real gem he is.
great professor, great feedback, easy A, you learn about music very well and you'll actually remember what you've read in his class.
This class should called the history of music instead of listening to music. He gives too many test. and combine all in every test including final. It is a lot of material to cover. If you're taking a easy class to boast your grade with your other class then this prof. is not for you. I took him in summer but i won't take him in regular semester.
Professor Harris is amazing. You can tell he has a passion for music. The class is very easy, all you have to do is show up and have a good time. There are 3 or 4 tests, zero homework, and one paper which is at least 3 pages. So it's easy to fail if you aren't paying attention, but also easy to pass.
Very recently I attended Professor Harris' class (ended yesterday). He is a wonderful professor, his lectures are full of creative analogies, clarity and relatability. My favorite aspects of his lessons include learning about the manipulation of rhythm and sound to make interesting effects. If my major allowed, I'd attend more of his classes.
At the beginning of the class I didn't know what to expect. It was my first time ever taking up classical music so I was kinda nervous. Prof Harris made the class so simple that I felt like I was placed in an Elementary school class by accident. I finished the class with a perfect grade, never missing a single point. All thanks to Professor Harris.
Professor Harris is my favorite professor and a friend. I thought classical music would be boring. It was anything but. He teaches because he loves to. He knows EVERYTHING about music, from classical to rap (yes, he is rap fan). His presentation is awesome. It is not about things of the past. It is about what music is today and how it became that.
Attend the lectures without fail. Take note in the class. Study your notes, the notes he gives, and memorize the songs (about 15 for midterms, 21 for final). I got a 100 on every midterm. I don't know about the final though.
Probably one of, or if not the best professor I've had yet at MC. Professor Harris really knows his stuff, and he teaches so well, making every class really enjoyable. The quizes he gives aren't hard at all, as everything should be from class notes. I'm sure by the end of the course, you'll appreicate classical music to some extent. Take it!
Professor Harris is one of the best instructors Ive had including my undergraduate and law school professors. He is a gifted teacher and knows his subject of classical music well. But dont let the title of Listening to Music fool you. It is not gut or easy A class. Be there for all lectures. There is no text book. This Professor is a gem.
Wanna pass? Take this guy, SHOW UP TO CLASS, pay attention, and take notes. It's that simple. He really tries to connect with students in order to help them (us) understand the content. He's also a relatively lenient grader. There is no textbook. He IS the textbook so you can't get the content without showing up to class. Oh and READ THE SYLLABUS!!
Gives you a lot of notes which helps a ton for the quizzes. Exams are easy if you just pay attention every lecture.
Professor Harris is a lovely professor that manages to condense complex musical topics into fun and engaging lectures. Make sure to make a playlist with all the songs mentioned in class, it WILL help you. Plus they're amazing to listen to.
professor harris is one of the best teachers i have ever had. with his way if teaching there is no way you will not understand the class. you just have to attend the class and have a good time and since you can see that he is very passionate it is a joy to listen. i hope he does not retire yet because he is a very inspiring person in general.
Professor Harris is a real gem and his handling of remote learning has been impressive. He expressed his lack of knowledge with technology, but he took the time to learn how to use Blackboard better than any younger professor I know. He cares deeply about the material he teaches and doesn't require a textbook because he IS the textbook! Great man.
Professor Harris Is the goat don't sleep on him y'all. Hes got a lot of energy and keeps the class live.
such a gem, if you enjoy music please take him because he really has a passion for it and guides you the whole semester. He is so understanding, funny, and does not give boring lectures. I am so glad I took this class with him
He is amazing. He really cares for his job and his students. I really enjoyed the class and he revived my passion for music. It's an easy A class but it won't be just an ordinary easy A gen-ed req cause it's going to be super fun! Definitely recommend him. Wish I took him in-person since I took him last semester and was online due to Covid
The kindest person I have ever met. Class is quite easy if you go to class and pay attention. Tests are straightforward but need to remember portions of some songs played in class, but he gives a list of potential test songs. Very passionate and knowledgeable, but can ramble on sometimes.
If given the opportunity to take again not even for credit but because he was teaching the class I would. To be able to make a passionate class engaging and to help every student understand the class is something that I've never seen before in any professor at the college. Words cannot say how much I would recommend his class.
Words honestly cannot describe how awesome Professor Harris is. His lectures gave me an appreciation of music that I never thought I would have. He is passionate and inspiring. I honestly would take his class again and I recommend him to anyone that is thinking about taking MUSC.
One of the most down to earth-to-Earth and lenient teachers. I don't know what it's like in other classes but he barely gives any HW and the ones he does is very easy. He gave 3 tests and all are open notes which he posts for everyone. If you fail, it's because of your own faults and not his cause I couldn't have asked for a better teachers.
Class is easy to the point where it is a bit lame. The man loves music, and even moreso explaining musical concepts. But quizzes are almost entirely remembering random facts from class (sometimes verbatim)...except they're open note, and he posts the notes. Easy A, but not much incentive to actually learn anything in this class.
Prof. Harris isn't only a great teacher, but also a great friend. His passion for music is so inspiring and is reflected within his lectures and the textbook he wrote himself. He wants all of his students to succeed and take interest in the material. His lectures were always the highlight of my week. You won't find a better professor than he is!
very easy professor. 3 exams, 1 final, 1 concert review. Open notes on tests so if you fail, kinda your fault. every notes taken in class is uploaded. attendance is required. if you miss more than 2 classes, then you drop a letter grade no matter what you have currently. overall nice guy, pretty simple course, great if you need the credit.
One of, if not, the most passionate professor I have had in my life. He really loves what he teach and overall just a caring easy going guy. You really understand everything just by taking notes and listening to him in lectures. He is heavy on attendance so make sure you are on top of that.
Super hilarious and super inspirational. He was one of the most nicest professors I've taken here at MC. The best part about him was he let me retake the first exam in which I got a D on. If I wouldn't have retaken that exam, I wouldn't have passed the class. Very easy to deal with and I would recommend him.
Prof. Harris is an engaging and passionate teacher who really brings the subject to life. Though attendance is mandatory, the class is pretty straightforward if you stay on top of the material. Unstuckstudy was a great study tool to supplement the lectures. Overall, a fun and rewarding class.
Professor Harris was one of my favorite professor's I've ever had the pleasure of having for a class. He was incredibly fun, kind, engaging, and just overall here for his students. He loved what he was teaching and you could hear it with each lecture and see it by the smile on his face each class.
Professor Harris is the epitome of what professors should be. He is extremely passionate about Classical music, his lectures are engaging, funny, and chock full of interesting information, and most of all he is a very caring and understanding person. The homework and tests are a breeze if you take good notes.
He is really funny and caring! I took him last semester, but I really enjoyed his class and it made me want to play the cello again. If you never had any kind of music class previously, you might struggle a bit to learn new information, but its simple for the most part. Loved listening to music. He really makes lectures fun!
He is extremely passionate about his profession, so much so that it rubs off on you, making this class pretty interesting. He created notes, recorded every lesson, and made study guides for everyone for the exams. He was understanding of our needs and very encouraging. Even though it was an online summer class every MTWTH, I looked forward to it.
