She is a good teacher, gives fair tests and teaches the material well. Very helpful if you ask her questions. Weekly quizzes online, weekly readings, attendance checked with PRS.
Wording of exam & quizzes aren't clear/tricky wording making it hard to answer correctly despite knowing the material. Material is easy, everything from the textbook. Prof. is unfair. Had an issue w/ an online quiz, & she does not take internet excuses, however, I had an email from OIT admitting there was a bug in quiz but she wouldn't grant retake
She does not review what is on the exam and the exams count for way too much. But she explains the material and is not a terrible teacher.
Terrible
Overly ambiguous exam questions, missing 3 discussions automatically equates to an F, lectures are extraordinarily boring. Learned more biology related materials from watching "Life" on Discovery Channel. At least she returns emails fairly quickly!
Has a terrible teaching ethic. The material you cover in class and what you read is easy but her exams are far more difficult. Class time is awful, she does not allow laptops or cell phone(hard to get caught) because she thinks everyone is one facebook or watching movies instead of taking notes.
She does the best she can to make it entertaining, but sometimes the topics can get dry..carbon cycle..The exams can be tricky and she had an open response question that had you rewrite exactly what she put on a slide. And it had to be 100% accurate for points. But overall you do learn a lot! Moderately easy, read for A.
Had her for Bio 102 and 287. She is always really well prepared for class and it makes the material easily accessible which is great when it's time to study for the exam. She is pretty funny and usually has interesting stories. Only bad thing is despite going to every lecture and doing the reading the exams can still be pretty tricky/difficult.
PRS points count towards attendance. Her exams are very straightforward and she is fair in grading. Each question is worth too many points in the exam. Also she does not round up in her grading scale (ex: 89.99 is still a B+). Very frustrating...
Meyer is a pretty good professor overall. Her exams were fair for the most part with the exception being the final which brought my grade down by a letter (it was all multi. choice unlike her other exams). The weekly quizzes on moodle are easy points. Gives you exam overviews with specific topics to pay attention to before the exam. Would recommend
I liked her a lot - she was very knowledgable and very enthusiastic. Her exams were mostly straightforward and fair, although T/F were a bit vague. She covers most material in class but some details are in the text, which is a disadvantage if you're lazy (chapters are long). Not a particularly easy class but you can do well if you pay attention.
I thought Christiane was a wonderful professor. Not only was she personable and helpful, but she was straightforward with her testsquizzesassignments. Put in the effort and you will get a decent grade.
Dr. Healy is a great professor. She very nice and knowledgeable. Bio can be a little hard but she is very clear and is good about clarifying if students have questions. She's a big fan of iClicker though, so keep that in mind.
She is very helpful and clear cut in what she wants. Just go to class, and you should be fine.
Don't bomb the tests; you won't pass. Seriously though, your grade is almost entirely based off of how you do on the tests and final. Don't expect easy homework grades because it just won't happen. She's nice but tough.
Frau Meyer can come off as easy, however as you move along you find you may be graded harshly on your online assignments or have a difficult MC quiz. There are only two exams before the final and the second one is hard. Study, read, and do your best on assignments. Quizzes can be looked up. No room for extra credit, so if you mess up, no AA-.
Professor Healey is a great overall person but I could not stand her class. The lectures were dreadful. She would yell at specific students for talking all the time and she never allowed laptops in class. I got a lot lower grade than I expected. This isn't an easy class and you have to study if you want to do well.
Really confusing and contradicting. VERY annoying voice. Requires clicker and therefore attendance. Cares more about plant life than student's ability to succeed. Cares way too much about laptop use. Harsh grader on easy assignments. Test answers are very ambiguous. Teaches things one way and puts them on a test completely differently.
She is incredibly boring in her lectures. Extremely condescending and petty when you go and ask for help. Weekly quizzes and assignments that are harshly graded. Here exams aren't horrible but she never clarifies. Only two major exams and the final matter for your final grade. Do bad on just one and you will not get an A for sure!
She cares about her students and is always trying to improve her teaching methods. If you ever have a question just ask her. Her class is well constructed and if you do the homework and study an average amount for the exams you should do just fine.
reminds me of a high school teacher because she strives for a personal relationship with students and offers lots of help and opportunities for questions. its can be a tough subject but if you use the slides/go to class its totally do-able and i never read the textbook except for the weekly quizzes (which are easy to ace). uses iclicker.
I love her! She listens to students' needs & is always willing to help. She is wonderful as a lecturer; clear, kind, and enthusiastic although material can be dry. Funny sometimes too. Easy weekly quizzes and 10 short assignments throughout the semester. iClicker for participation, 3 exams. Requires some effort, but just pay attention in class tbh
She's so great! What I liked most about her was that 1) she is very understanding and responsive to students and 2) you can tell she cares about student improvement when she puts in SO much effort in providing feedback. You obviously have to put in some work since its a writing class but it's not that bad.
I had her for Bio 2 & Ecology (what I'll say goes for both). She is such an amazing person. She really wants you to learn and goes out of her way to help you. There is a lot of homework & if you read, the class will be a lot easier. Go to lectures. They are recorded, but quality isn't great. She tries so hard to explain everything, so don't worry
I am a BMB major so I guess I am a little biased but I love this course. She spends a lot of time talking about examples of certain phenomena in nature and less time giving definitions and walking through material. However, if a student in lecture has some confusion she will often clear it up right there. Very easy to talk to during office hours.
Honestly, I wish I could just show up for the exams and be done with it, but iClicker credit is needed for participation. Homework is very easy, but there's a lot of time wasted in class on minor details of the first few slides and your time would be better spent watching the lecture videos from home, played back at double speed.
Weekly quizzes based on the readings (easy), only need to use your iclicker for 2/3 of the classes to get credit for it. Tests can be kind of hard but she is very insistent on review sessions, office hours, and going over any confusion in class. Uses Echo recordings for lectures. Tests are multiple choice with 1-2 open choice questions.
Her exam questions can be confusing. It's difficult to understand her wordings at times. It's an ok class and she's an ok professor. She's not so good at giving feedbacks in my opinion.
I was pretty uninterested in a lot of the topics covered, so lecture was unbearably long and boring sometimes. Also she doesn't allow laptops which is a real pain, because you have to take notes by hand. She is also sometimes unclear while lecturing. Not my favorite class, and I am glad it's over. It wasn't terribly difficult, just not interesting.
Nice professor, but incredibly boring lecturer. Still, could be worse. Get the online textbook!! It'll make life a lot easier when doing the reading quizzes.
One of the best professors I've had at UMass. She's amazing and gives engaging lectures.
Very nice and friendly professor. She clearly cares about her students and wants you to do well. Very helpful during office hours. Sometimes some questions on her tests can just be hard to understand what they are getting at. Overall, have taken two of her classes and really like her.
Each lecture was sort of like a mediocre TED talk, great food for thought but terrible for people who enjoy professors that follow an organized, structured course rather than sporatic lessons throughout some bio topics. Lectures can be made optional, discussions are mandatroy, I took her class due to my prereq's for ECE, it's Bio151 dumbed down.
Teacher could benefit from reading a heuristics book. She seems very intelligent and passionate, but she lacks structure in her lectures and notes. The lecture slides are about 80% decoration and lectures can feel more like someone chatting. I feel a little bit of education on visually presenting information could really increase her effectiveness.
Overall a good teacher. Exams are fair but force you to use critical thinking rather than just memorization. Lectures can be tough to sit through at times, but she gives breaks and often uses other media incorporated into her slides. There are many clicker questions every class which I found helpful but you are allowed to miss a bunch of them without getting points off. Also pre lecture homework due each week is tricky
Great person, she obviously cares about the topics she's teaching about, but her class is extremely test heavy. You have 2 exams plus a final and if you do bad on one exam you basically have no chance of getting an A. She does care about her students and will make herself available to you, very helpful during office hours.
I LOVE HER. Easily one of my favorite professors ever, such a sweetheart who really cares about her students. She's passionate about what she teaches and overall a great person. The class is challenging but by no means impossible. If you don't study for the exams be prepared to do poorly, but if you know your stuff they're very straightforward.
She's a very intelligent professor. She's very passionate about biology and wants students to succeed. Lots of iClicker questions every lecture. She shows fun videos in class. A quiz almost every week on stuff from the textbook. 2 exams and a final.
Dr. Healey is a great professor! Her exams are weighed SIGNIFICANTLY more than anything else in the course so if you don't do well in one exam it'll be very hard to bring up your grade. That being said, her exams are pretty straightforward. There are no hidden motives and it's generally easy information.
Loved her teaching style. She just won her college's teaching award and I can see why!
BIO 110 is an easy A. The annoying part is having to go to discussion, but that is easy. If you study the slides from lecture you should do fine on the exams. There are also study guides that are useful aids. Christiane is fine. One thing I found odd was how she called herself Doctor. I've never had a PhD professor at Umass do that.
Christiane is very straightforward about the material. She explains things clearly and stresses that lecture material is what will be on the test not all of the reading. She posts her lectures to Moodle which makes studying for tests easier. She really does love plants, but she seems to care about her students too!
One of my favorite professors. She cares a lot about her students, and tries to make the course easy and useful. Her exams can be long, but are very easy for the students who review the slides and notes. She wants you to get good grades, and never tries to trick you in the tests like some other professors.
This wasn't a terribly hard course, but she definitely nit-picks on exams. It was helpful to watch the lecture recordings before exams to rememeber the specific examples she gives because sometimes she tests on those. You need a textbook for the homework, but then the exams are just based on the lecture .
Dr. Healey is my favorite professor at UMass. She's so sweet and genuinely wants to see every person succeed. Her lectures are interesting, plus she usually gives us a five minute break in the middle. Exams can be a little tricky because she asks a lot of conceptual questions, but lecture recordings make it easy to study!
Dr. Healey is the best professor I have ever had! She is so incredibly kind and so obviously passionate about what she teaches. Assignments can be tricky but there aren't too many and they are SO helpful and really help you to do well on exams. Exams are fair if you truly make an effort to study!
Taken 3 classes with Healey (152, 280 and 287), all of them are structured the same. Quizzes are easy since they are right from the book, assignments are taken from lectures. To do well on the exams, re-watch the lecture videos beforehand and understand all of the iClickers and past assignments. Not too bad of a class but does require effort.
I found her lectures to be extremely boring and hard to pay attention, but the biggest struggle i faced were the open-ended writing assignments/exam questions so you have to have a very clear understanding of the material and be able to explain it well. Review the slides, the same examples/diagrams from lecture are very often re-used on exams.
Great professor and really cares about her students. Hw is on the heavy side along with weekly quizzes. She has a really nice teaching style and explains everything clearly.
Her lectures are fine and the material is what you took in 6th grade biology, however she is not helpful, not easily accessible, makes it seem like she wants students to talk to her when she never answers emails and double books office hours so you wait about an hour outside her office without even talking to her. MUST READ THE TEXTBOOK TO PASS.
Overall shes pretty good. Her lectures show her knowledge and interest in biology which is great. Pre lecture quizzes are pretty helpful. She seems to really want to help everyone pass and not try to make things difficult for everyone. Only quam I have is she sometimes mumbles a little but if youre truly paying attention it isnt a problem.
Best professor anyone could have for Bio 152, she is absolutely great at explaining things.
Taken Bio 152 and 280 and plan to take 287.. Hands down my favorite biology teacher at UMass. Tough class however, I spent hours on hours studying. Only class last semester where I did not receive an A.
Very knowledgeable about the material. Always willing to go over something until everyone understands. Weekly quizzes, easy grade booster. Assignments are hard, work w/ classmates and read the book for them. This class is extremely exam heavy and they're VERY difficult. She is awful at wording questions, making it seem like she wants to trick you.
Great professor, just pay attention in lecture and study a bit. 3 tests and 1 final. Pre-lecture quizzes online every week based on readings from the textbook but all the answers are online. 4 short written assignments. Must attend only 16 lectures to get full attendance credit, and she records the lectures anyways. Definitely take Healey for 152
Love bio but questions on tests tend to be harder than one would expect, she is not evil; just a tough teacher. Lecture can be confusing sometimes
Prof Healey is an amazing bio instructor! This is by no means an easy class & she will make you work HARD for your grade, but she makes up for it in her commitment to her students. Rewatch lecture videos for exam studying (she tests on specific class examples) and go to the SI reviews. Focus on concepts, not rote memory. Great prof for a hard class
One of my favorite professors at UMass! Lots of ways to get help outside class and the undergrad TA were awesome, too.
Great professor, really sweet- highly recommend
Best advisor ever! Leggo Team Groupers/ not Paul! Christiane's literally my fav I love her
Christiane is literally an angel and I was so blessed to call her not only my teacher, but also my research mentor. Shes absolutely sweet and hilarious and 100% cares about all her students- shes truly an 11/10 professor!
Professor Healey is honestly such a sweet person and amazing professor. The way she explains concepts is very easy to understand and everything she goes over in class is what will be on the exams. If you want to do well, go over the lecture recordings and make sure you can explain the iclicker questions as they are very similar to the exams.
Nice lady but she doesnt teach anything in class you have to learn all the material on your own in a ton of reading assignments
this class was one of the best i've taken even though evolution is not my main area of interest. prof healey is great - lectures are clear with good examples of the concepts, and the tests are mostly based on lecture so if you go and pay attention you can do well. homework assignments are reasonable.
Uses an expensive website that isnt affiliated w the university and if you have problems you have to contact customer support. Gives a crazy amount of quizzes and tests that are solely based on readings. Lectures are not helpful and never as in depth as youll need to understand the information to do well on the tests. Had work during spring break.
There is a weekly quiz based off of the textbook, and a quiz before each of the exams about the exam topics. Healey's lectures are recorded and she explains all of the material with a lot of detail. There are a lot of factors going into the grade, but may not be the best if you don't like quizzes or exams. Overall professor Healey is the best.
She is a nice woman but made evolution pretty boring. I dreaded going to that class the most. Most of the lectures are recorded and as long as you attempt assignments you'll be okay but her online quizzes can be a pain. Exams are lengthy and studying for them is utterly impossible but use the lecture videos to your advantage!
She is very reliant on iclickers, you have to really understand them in order to do well on the exams.
Prof Healey is amazing! I had her for bio 287 and it was one of the better online classes I've had. She really cares about her students and understands that with everything going on, students may have trouble and is open to talk to. Exams were a little challenging but open note. I definitely recommend taking a class from her!
Here's the thing. She is an amazing human being who is passionate about everything she teaches. Only problem is that she doesn't prepare for exams as well as she should. They're hard, when everything else is easier. Also, her lectures are a little boring. Hard to sit through. Extra credit is none. Only extra points on exams which is challenging.
ended up dropping it halfway through - the class was so unnecessarily difficult and her exams are nothing like the in-class clicker questions or lecture content. not worth the time at all. she's super nice but the class is just not taught well, in my opinion.
Taking her bio287 class made me cry. I was stressed out by this class every day. Mind you I was taking chem261 at the same time and I had an A, so i feel like im an okay student. She did not try to meet me halfway when I was at risk of failure. I reached out for help and she just suggested to withdraw the class, instead of helping. DO NOT TAKE
Do not take this class unless you want to be an ecologist. This class is only interpreting impossible graphs and random charts. Her exams are insanely difficult no matter how hard you study. All she does is have you watch lectures outside of class and go over random trick questions in class with iclickers that make no sense. Do not take her class.
She is very passionate and caring. Homework is quizzes and lecture videos and readings while in class is practice with frequent breaks to play two truths/a lie every class. Tests are difficult but not impossible if you pay attention to the practice problems and she allows cheat sheets. I thought she was great and this was one of my easiest classes.
She's awesome! Passionate about ecology and cares about her students. One of my favorite professors at UMass.
My favorite class. It's team-based and your work and grade depends on others. But the instructor team is sooo helpful and Healey is my favorite instructor.
Loved her style, she cares about her students. Helpful during office hours.
she's truly the nicest person ever. her exams are extremely fair. she allows a "cheat sheet" that you can make for your exams which are so helpful. I never felt overwhelmed about the class and the TAs were very helpful as well. If you just pay attention in class youll be all set.
Professor Healey's class is not difficult if you watch the video lectures and attend class. Only a few homework assignments throughout the semester, along with weekly quizzes on the video lectures, but if you watch the lectures the quizzes are easy. You get a cheat sheet for exams, if you pay attention in class the exams aren't challenging.
Class material is interesting and you get a cheat sheet for exams! She uses a flipped classroom style so you watch lecture videos before class then do clicker questions in class. This class is fairly easy if you pay attention in lecture, but be prepared for lots of graph interpretation.
Her passion for the subject is really obvious and I like how much she cares about her students. Christiane lets students use cheat sheets on the exam so the focus wasn't on memorizing material but on testing our understanding and ability to apply the concepts.
Professor Healey became my favorite professor really fast. I wasn't going to pursue a degree in biology until she told me to do a double major. She inspired my interest in evolution and I am so glad I had her as a teacher. She is always accessible for office hours and will answer questions not related to class which was amazing. Overall, fantastic.
I really liked Healey and her teaching style. Course content was interesting and you can have a notes sheet on exams which is super helpful. She is clearly very knowledgable and reasonable. I wish people wouldn't talk over her in class so much :(
professor healey is so sweet, although there is a lot to the lectures. just show up to class and do the mini quizzes and youll do fine. no weekly homework which is good, and she even lets you bring a cheat sheet to the exams and gives a redo on the multiple choice the class after and lets you use any resources, including friends
Dr. Healey makes 152 an easy class. The content is not overly difficult yet you get cheat sheets, multiple choice redos, and extra credit. She has a passion for what she is teaching and it shows in lecture. I'd definitely recommend taking 152 with Healey (and you get to see her dog)
Only 2 exams and a final. redo for MCQ part of exams. But exams are very very I clicker heavy. You get cheat sheets, but the questions on exams are from every single example she went over in class. You need to rewatch her posted videos and take notes of the examples and I clicker questions. It was also hard to understand what she was saying.
Christiane is one of the most down to earth and kind professors that I have had. She understood that Tu/Th lectures are long. She has an optional "Two Truths and One Lie" game for the class to give us a break throughout the lecture. There is not much information on the lecture slides, but if you go to class and pay attention, you should be A-ok.
I've had Healey twice and she is one of the nicest professors at UMass. Her exams are 65% of your grade which is kind of crazy but she offers a multiple choice redo which you are more than likely to get an A on. She does not give a lot of work outside of class. Her slides aren't the most helpful but the material is easy to understand.
We had to watch lectures BEFORE class, do a quiz, and there was a bi-weekly assignment. My average for the assignments was a 70, on tests it was a 100. There was also iClicker (2/3 of classes) AND a daily reflection-too much to remember. Not a hard class, but sooo much work. Apparently she switched up how she teaches the class this year.
Exams are worth 20% (midterms) 25% (final) and everything else is worth very little. Open Response assignments only worth 10% so nothing to fluff the grade really. The material is good, but the TA reviews were so unhelpful and the material feels really scattered in lecture. Flipped learning style too. Healey is nice and brings her dog to class tho.
Loved Healey's Bio 152 class last year and was really disappointed in bio287 this semester. She implemented a "flipped" learning method that did not work for me at all - lectures were spent mainly doing clicker questions that get mind-numbing after awhile. TA's were unhelpful and didn't know some of the content during exam reviews.
Dr. Healey is very well-versed in her knowledge of ecology, but the course itself was not the best in terms of its structure. The course is extremely exam-heavy, leaving very little to offset exam scores, and wouldn't recommend this course for those filling bio elective classes, even though, she is very kind and wants her students to do well.
A lot of students claim she is nice, and she is. As a person. When she is a professor, she seems kind of unforgiving and her exams are slightly excruciating. As someone who maintains a high gpa in the honors college this class was far harder than it needed to be and definitely tanked some averages. For no reason. Material was disorganized. Avoid287
Exams are worth 65% of your grade, if you fail one exam be ready to say goodbye to your chance of getting an A or A-. She doesn't do any replacing or dropping of the lowest exam score. Grad TA that grades problem sets will screw you over. TAKE EVOLUTION WITH BYERS OR AKIKO! GPA & SELF-CONFIDENCE ANNIHILATOR Christiane dog can teach better than her.
Passionate teacher but gave way too much work. Exams make up 65% of your grade, and she makes the exams very difficult compared to the lecture material. The TA's weren't that helpful either. Very nice and understanding professor but I wouldn't take it if I had to over again.
Class is flipped: watch lectures beforehand (basically double the work/time). Little practice given before tests so they were tricky (cheat sheet allowed). Review iclicker before exams. Still ended with an A despite getting B+ on every exam (due to HW/quizzes). TAs not helpful. Her dog was the reason I showed up to class. Go with someone else.
She gives plenty of extra credit and 3 cheat sheets on the final. Her lectures are boring and exams are iclicker question heavy. The assignments aren't hard and the quizzes are straightforward. No curves and Iclicker grade is not too heavy so you don't have to attend the lectures if you are doing well in everything else. She is very caring too.
the clarification on concepts and what there is to focus on for the exams needs to be more clear. We go over concept questions and stuff quickly and sometimes we will skim something that ends up being important later and it ends up being on the exam. This class is even harder if you have ADHD
A polite and knowledgeable person but a not a good professor. The exams were very difficult compared to iclicker questions and there are no practice exams given. The class content was not well organised, and there was a mistake in the final gradebook which was fixed but was still very annoying. None of the exam grades are dropped or replaced...
Quizzes and exams weigh heavily into final grade. Allowed a cheat sheet on all exams and all exams besides the final have an in-class makeup. Very kind and tries to make sure students understand the material. Lots of iclicker questions, but they're helpful. Most of the time, the assignments before each exam are related to the exams open response.
Healey is a very passionate proff which made learning more fun. There are weekly online quizzes with 3 tries, there are total of 4 assignments through the sem. Both easy. Exams are alright, however some questions are confusing, and have weird answers. Lecture material is mostly verbal therefore note taking is so important. Slides lack information.
She's very passionate about what she teaches and explains things very well. She's very flexible about attendance and work and drops a quiz and an assignment which is helpful. Her exams are a little hard but she was good at making grade adjustments for unclear questions.
She's very nice & shows her passion for biology, but she's simply not a good professor. Will try to trip you up with the wording of questions on exams. For every exam she had to change the correct answers after the fact because multiple answers were worded to be right. The material is not difficult, you just need to solve her riddles of questions
The professor is a very nice lady but she is one of those professors that likes to overcomplicate things. Exam questions didn't really test for intellect but more-so, carefulness. Most multiple choice questions were a toss up, a 50/50. Material is easy, workload is fine, yet her approach to getting knowledge across is lackluster.
She's awesome! Study for the exams and don't forget the reflections and quizzes, and you'll be fine.
Professor Healey is passionate, but the class structure and exams are quite challenging. The flipped learning format requires a lot of work outside of class. Unstuckstudy was helpful for exam prep, but TAs were not. Overall, a tough but manageable course.
Professor Healey is clearly very passionate about the content and it made me want to engage with the real-life examples. I think at some points, the lectures were too example heavy without including actual definitions of the key concepts.
Weekly quizzes and lots of iclicker and some writing assignments. I think a lot of her questions are worded poorly and in a confusing way. Exams were quite hard and long and every few questions she had to stop us and clarify what she meant for the question. Wasn't a big fan of the lecture or the class but I guess its doable if you try.
Her lectures & explanations are as simple as she can make them. I think u can get a good grade if u pay attention & do all her assignments. The textbook is optional w/ short chapters, if u want a deeper understanding. Her office hours, TA office hours & SI sessions are helpful & makes up for the lack of what most would consider practice exams.
All Bio classes require a lot of work. She gives many opportunities to improve exam grade between in-class makeup and cheat sheet. While her questions can be confusing if you've studied you'll be fine. Go to class and take notes, no practice exam given but the TA study guides are helpful if you fill them out.
I just didn't like that she did reflections after each class, they were easy to forget to do but she is amazing overall, genuinely you will not get a better bio professor.
Tests are worth 65% of your grade, the lecture content doesn't really go in depth with what is on the exam, exam questions are like a riddle. Spend a lot of time outside the class to receive a good grade. No dropped grades and cheat sheets on the exam.
Really liked her, she's a great professor who genuinely wants her students to succeed and is very sweet. However, her exams are bad. Most of the test is multiple choice with a few open-response questions - her wording is so confusing that it's easy to choose the wrong answer (even with the cheat sheet). Pay attention to comments in class
Healey is a fairly nice and engaging prof, but exam questions contradicted her lectures a lot of the time, and tend to rely on reasoning that doesn't come from textbook or lectures. Common sense won't help you with this class. Slides are confusing and overlap while there are gaps of knowledge between lectures. Study and go to lectures to get an A!
I really liked the exam redos. We could redo the multiple choice questions for credit, which really helped me learn and made me less stressed.
Prof Healey is very approachable and helpful. Content is fairly easy to digest if you listen in class but it can feel confusing if you don't go to class. I liked how quizzes and assignment built on what we learned in lecture and that helped me study for the exams. Some posts here say the class is flipped but it's not. Perhaps she changed it?
This professor was very kind and made herself available in many situations. Lectures were very useful but sometimes the slides were not. It was more important to pay attention and take your own notes. For each exam she let us have a cheat sheet and they were not too difficult. Overall I enjoyed the class and would take the professor again.
As long as you attend every lecture and take notes, you will be fine. Exams allow cheatsheets + re-dos the very next day for up to 25% to your exam grade if you did bad. Heavy focus on stuff SPOKEN during lectures, so heavy reliance on only the slides will tank your grade. Very reliable and helpful, truly wants the best for her students.
Prof Healey is very approachable and helpful, and the TAs are, too. Content is fairly easy to digest if you listen in class and do the work. It can feel confusing if you don't go to class. I thought the content between exam 2 and 3 accelerated very quickly but that may have just been the timing of the Thanksgiving break.
Terrible professor. Way too many iclicker questions made the lectures godawful, it made me want to pound my head into the desk. Since lectures are mostly iclicker, expect lots and lots of textbook reading since she's far too incompetent to teach and just clicks the iclicker button over and over again. Exam 3 was difficult and felt super crammed.
Exams were based on specific lecture examples. Buying textbook is pointless. Excessive iclickr participation policies and horribly BORING lectures. Maybe attendance/participation would improve if class felt worth showing up for. I was .1% away from A, so I am feeling petty. I am now pro global warming!
