Dr. Cathey's class is great! You definitely need to study and take the class seriously, but the professor herself is amazing! She keeps class interesting and is willing to help with anything. Love this professor.

She is honestly the most fun and energetic professor about Psychology. She is interesting and you will not regret taking her class! Come to class because she takes attendance.

Never have a seen a professor more concerned for her students. My class was 330 students, but I never felt like it was. She will respond to emails quickly and send out congratulatory emails when you excel in her class. She has such a passion about her work that makes you love psychology. I would definitely recommend her and will miss this class.

Psych is a hard subject but dr cathey makes it super understandable and is more than willing to help all 300 people in the class. her lectures really help you understand the material and if you study hard and get help when needed you can definitely pass.

Dr. Cathey makes her lectures really interesting because she's so energetic. I never once had a class that I couldn't wait for it to be over. The only homework is weekly study plans on MyPyschLab. Tests can be a bit challenging but as long as you read the book, do the homework, and attend the study sessions you'll be well prepared. Favorite class!

Impossible to get a bad grade in PSY 121 with Cathey if you just do the work. You have 1,000 points possible. Tests are all multiple choice & have study guides. Possible to average a 75 on every test and still get an A in the class. Cathey is an amazing teacher. Cares about her students and goes the extra mile. Also, makes lectures interesting.

Love Christie!!!!! She is super energetic and makes some funny jokes. e class has a lot of information in it but it is covered pretty well. You definitely have to study for the tests but they're not terrible. Clicker questions are done for participation points so you have to go to class. Definitely would take her class again.

The instructor's lecture sometimes can be long but she always have study guides before a test as well as study group sessions for points. Her class is comprised of participation points, homework, tests, quizzes, and others as well. Study hard on her tests because it could be difficult for some students. Ask questions and participate in class.

I love Dr. Cathey!! There's only 4 (I think?) tests and the final. There's also the quizzes you do every week which are pretty easy. You need the book to find the answers to the quizzes, but they're word for word so it's easy to find. Tests are just all the quizzes from each week combined (literally copied and pasted). Overall, 10/10 recommend

I loved having Dr. Cathey! Even though my class was HUGE she still made herself seem very approachable, I never really had any questions because she's super good at communicating and explaining things but if I did ever have any worries I'd have no doubt that she'd been willing to help me. This is a pretty straightforward class.

Dr. Cathey was by far my favorite teacher this semester. I took Psychology in high school, and didn't enjoy it very much, so going into this class, I wasn't looking forward to it. She made me want to go to class, and made it very interesting. She answered any questions you had, and sent a BILLION emails, so you always knew what was due! Loved her!

I absolutely loved Dr. Cathey! although her class was at times hard to understand, she made it much easier to remember the material and connect the lessons to everyday life. The tests can be difficult and this course requires effort but without a doubt she is the teacher take!

Dr. Cathey is incredible! Even though my class had about 300 people in it, she made it feel like there were 30. She has super flexible office hours and responds to emails mostly within the hour, so she is super accessible. She explains the material very well and really wants you to succeed. She definitely piqued my interest in psychology.

Dr. Cathey was the reason I changed my major to Psych! Never wanted to miss any of her lectures because of how fun and energetic she was! You cover a lot of things in this class but if you study and ask for help as soon as you're struggling w/ a concept, you can definitely ace this class! Word associations and corny, nifty phrases helped me a lot!

I hated the material, but it is not Dr. Cathey's fault. She did a very good job making lectures engaging for all students (as most are not psych majors). The course was not particularly hard, was able to ace the course without studying or taking notes. As long as you pay attention in lectures and show up, you should be fine.

I took a Tuesday/Thursday class with her and she only made us show up on Tuesdays for the most part. She was really great at keeping the attention of the class, there were a lot of extra credit opportunities and the grading criteria was very clear. She's a good teacher.

Dr. Cathey was great. The subject material was sometimes tough but she normally helped to make it understandable. Although the class is very large, she (and the ULA's) make you feel like you matter. She always emails back almost immediately. She also offers a lot of extra credit.

She prides herself in NOT teaching to the test, & it was not easy. Make sure you know how to apply the examples. I never read the book but I was lucky to get out with an A. Lectures were HEAVY and if she didn't cover something you were expected to know that. She only requires you go to class mostly on Tuesday. Offers up to 25 extra credit points.

It is required that you attend a study session before each exam, but these are helpful and cover the main points of the exam material. There are many ways to get extra credit in this class.

This is a blended class so you'll only be going to class once a week which is nice. There is a ton of reading necessary for this class so make sure you get the hard copy book. This class was actually interesting and if you study the online quizzes before exam day, you will do well because most of the questions are repeated.

Amazing instructor. She's very lively during her lectures and cares about her students success. After the first exam, I got an email from her saying that I was one of the few people that got a B on the test and because of this, she expected me to get an A in her class. I think her attentiveness is the reason I got the grade I did.

Cathey is a fun teacher. Psychology is not the easiest class, but I did alright because I did all the extra credit and I did all the homework. Cathey teaches psychology extremely well and tries to engaged the audience as well as she can. The tests are hard. I averaged a C range on all of them, but I still ended up with a B at semester.

Dr Cathey is a truly interesting lecturer, cares genuinely about her (large amount) of students, and gives plenty of direction. If you go to class and take notes and keep up with the online work and study participation, and then use the Dynamic Study Module for the section to study for tests - you should be able to get at least a B easily!

Super sweet lady. You have a lot to do in this class but I think its all pretty easy. Just be ready to put a lot of time in. You read a chapter each week and take a pretest and posttest. You also get points for going to class, tests, extra credit, and research hours. If you don't go to class you won't get the points but not that important.

Shes pretty funny, very relatable person. A lot of homework, but its the same for every PSY121 class. You wont have class most thursdays, so thats pretty nice.

Dr. Cathey is so amazing! Her lectures are super interesting and she is so funny. She is passionate about psychology and always willing to help. The tests are overall worth less than 50% of the overall grade, so there is a lot of oppertunity if you arent the best test taker! Also there is a lot of extra credit given! I highly recommend!!

Excellent professor. Everything that is expected of you as the student is clearly laid out. The homework is pretty easy, and its all online. The tests cover three chapters of the textbook at a time, so you def need the book. Also, you have to come to every class, because you get 5 pts. just for being there each day. She was willing to meet with me outside of class, also I failed 2 of the 3 tests and still ended with a B. Definitely use the 30 points for extra credit to your advantage.

Dr. Cathey is so incredibly kind and such an amazing professor. She is extremely dedicated to psychology and loves what she does. She is very animated and makes class fun and interesting. As long as you do the online Revel assignments and show up to class, you'll be set. Extra credit assignments are also available if you're on the edge.

Revel (online) HW, clicker questions, 30 pts ex cr, tests, research participation is what we were graded on. Easy going, caring professor, animated during lecture, but genuine. Responds to emails quickly. Review Revel (majority of ?'s are from there) for tests. Friendly approachable, likes feedback/questions from students during lecture.

Very kind professor that gives engaging lectures. There are weekly quizzes that are easy if you read. I did struggle a bit more with the exams, but she is always willing to help you out if you need it.

She's absolutely amazing. I love her energy. Its super clear that shes passionate about teaching & psych. Quick responder to email too if you have any questions (she also links some really cool articles after lectures). Class was a little hard for me but thats because theres a lot of reading involved. Do the easy point assignments, they matter!

Engages well with her students. Class is blended so there are long online assignments (but they are easy if you read the chapter). Lecture can be long but clicker points are given, so definitely go.

You get participation points for showing up to class, and she offers a lot of extra credit points. There's online assignments due at the start of every week which are fairly time consuming if you actually read the material for them instead of just finding the answers to the questions. She made the class interesting every lecture.

I took her class with the attitude of "I have to take this" and she completely turned me around. About halfway through the semester, my mental health went downhill and she genuinely cared about my health and even let me alter assignments to fit my needs. Would recommend.

With covid happening professor cathey was so understanding about everything. She took into consideration how we are all affected by the pandemic. Homework was through revel and most test questions were taken from the homework. I would really recommend taking this class with cathey if you have the chance!!

The homework is long but doesn't take a lot of effort. Extra credit offered. The research participation was easy; done first month. Study sessions are a hassle; not needed.

Professor Cathey's lectures are never boring! Other than the humor, she does a great job keeping students engaged and explaining concepts in detail. All assignments are due at noon on Mondays, usually Revel assignments and the weekly lecture quizzes. The quizzes are not hard and are 5 questions long. You should 100% take her classes.

Dr. Cathey is a good teacher. There are weekly readings you need to do on Pearson but they are pretty easy. All the exams are open notes. There are a lot of chances for extra credit.

Mrs. Cathey is very passionate about psychology. There is a decent amount of homework, all online, but it is not very difficult. She teaches using a blended style so it is half in class and half online, but showing up to class is not mandatory as long as you keep up with the online portion.

Dr. Cathey is the best. I attended most of her lectures even though they weren't mandatory just because they were so interesting. Revel assignments are a lot so just a heads up. Don't start them the day before or else you'll be hating everything. Plan ahead for the research participation so you aren't scrambling the last week of classes.

Dr. Cathey is seriously the best! Do yourself a favor and take her class. I took it as a Gen Ed and found it so manageable and fun. Her lectures are interesting and interactive. She is very clear about due dates and what is on tests. All test questions come directly from quizzes you have seen before and they are multiple choice tests.

This class is an easy A as long as you do the homework. The tests are online, open-note, and not proctored. The class is hybrid, so you can either come to class, or watch the videos online. I took this to complete a gen ed, and I 100% recommend Dr. Cathey if you're doing the same!

Dr. Cathey was a great professor. She is very dedicated to teaching psychology. She is also very caring towards her students. There is a lot of Revel assignments so be prepared. There is extra credit available but its easy to do. There is a research assignment but you can get it done in the first month. Take her if you have the opportunity.

She is so nice and offers a lot of extra credit. The (4) exams are easy and online. The lectures are fun to listen to but they are mostly just recaps of the textbook. Cathey was a good professor was psych 121. The class is a lot of content to cover in one semester, but she does a good job of making relatable examples.

She really isn't bad, neither is the class. Exams are 3/4 chapters worth, 1 revel chapter per week - all due dates are clear in the syllabus and she reminds us in class always. Some material is confusing, but go to class, it'll help - she makes easy to remember examples. Decent amount of extra credit is available too; grades are in quick too.

Since this class has so many points, it was easy to get an A. For each chapter, you would do the work on your own each week, and then go to class and discuss it. It was a lot of work and studying for finals, but if you do this you will do well in her class. There are also lots of extra credit opportunities, and overall, an interesting class!

This is an interesting class. Lots of information and tests can be difficult. Offers extra credit so do all that she offers. Do not forget to read from the Revel book because their are many questions on test from it. She allows lowest test grade out of four to be completely dropped and your highest test score to replace it. Final is accumulative.

Dr. Cathey is a great person. The lectures are fun sometimes but the test is kind of hard and takes a lot of your grade and not much extra credit. While there is a lot of reading for this course, the overall workload is not that bad. There are lots of extra credit opportunities, and Dr. Cathey is very caring, respectful, and funny! The study sessions for exams are very helpful. Overall, great professor, great course.

I'm taking PSY121 under Dr. Cathey, and there's a lot of homework and reading every week. While her class can be difficult and time consuming, Dr. Cathey is such a good teacher that can make learning fun with the use of things like mentimeter. She's kind, outgoing, and super easy to talk to and ask questions to. I highly recommend taking her class!

She was very nice and caring about her students. The homework can be very lengthy. There are plenty of opportunities for extra credit so take advantage of those little extra points you can get. Attendance is mandatory and part of your grade. She also does not do +/- so a B is a B and a A is a A no matter how low or high.

Loved her! she is super excitable and can easily keep the room of 200-350 people in check long enough for her lecture time. there are no classes on Thursdays for my section but sometimes exams are scheduled for then. The homework can be tiring but you can easily copy and paste everything over to make sure it's right.

Sweet professor but get ready to read. Reading is due every week and lectures are based on what you read. It is repetitive but, in the long run, it helps. You will need to be there since participation is part of your grade. She loves answering questions and will even go out of her way to search up questions she doesnt know the answers to.
