She is soooo hot! Most amazing smile! Anyways, the class is super easy, write EVERYTHING she says and writes and I would guarantee an A. No doubt. She is a professor who loves her job and cares for the class. The class is really interesting. Two papers, one midterm, one final. The papers and tests are soo easy. TAKE HER.

She is very hot! She really wants you to read the book. If you are not ready to read 10-20 pages every other night then this class probably wouldn't be for you. Her papers are very easy as long as you follow guidlines. You watch a couple movies in the class and mainly it is discussion from previous reading.

This class was pretty interesting, most readings held my interest. I did pretty well on all assignments except one essay. I was expecting an A but I got a B, oh well.

Professor is very clear in her lectures. makes the class interesting with videos here and there. tests were all essay version and you have a take home portion as well. gives some extra credit by making notecards which you can also use on the tests! She was SUPER helpful during the whole class and is so sweet! highly recommend.

Chill prof. She is funny, young, and keeps the lectures interesting. Ties in present day topics so we actually know what she's referring to. The notecards get annoying but it's how she keeps attendance. Good, easy class. take it!

Once you get the essay prompt work on it and ask for help. Incorporate class material to get a good score. Overall, come to class, do the reading, the notecards, & participate. She's nice and gives a study guide whatever is on that study guide can be on the test. The tests require you to write the answers. WRITE the answers.

By far one of the best professors I've had. You have to turn in a note card every day, which is not too hard. It's actually very helpful. She is a great teacher and very enthusiastic. You can tell she knows what she is talking about. Make sure you do all the assignments and readings and you'll do great.

She had her good and bad days. Overall, very chill and pretty straight forward. Definitely recommend going to office hours for help on exams/papers. She is very honest and will tell you exactly what she wants. No curve balls. Recommend. Do the note cards and you will survive

It's a pretty easy class but there is a lot of reading. It is necessary to have the books (3 of them) and you also must print documents for more reading. I learned so much in this class but make sure you are reading the materials since the exams are straight out of the books.

One of the best professors I've ever had! So sweet and easy going. She makes the subject interesting and engaging each lecture. Readings every class and are long, but doable. Allows you to use notecards for exams and as long as you do the readings and pay attention to lecture, you should do fine. Definitely recommend, loved her class!

Fantastic teacher! She really cares about the subject and teacher you all that you need to know. Make sure you do the readings because she likes if you participate. Attendance is based on a notecard, there are 2 essays, a midterm, and a final. Study guide given for the midterm and final so there weren't any surprises! I highly recommend her!

She is young and honest! She is a very hard grader on essays(2) though. Go to her when you have questions, she will definitely answer them. There is a lot of reading to do but you can get a jist of it by skimming the long articles. Attendance is mandatory, notecards are turned in the beginning of class to check it.

She is a tough grader. Lectures are informative and interesting even though she lectures mostly from the readings. The exam questions are given in study guide. Occasionally she gets moody and tends to treat her students like elementary school children, but overall a good teacher.

Amazing professor! Classsubject was very interesting. Lectures informative and fun sometimes. Readings are ESSENTIAL. Gives study guides for 3 exams (final not cumulative). Exams are short answer Q's + some take home Q's. Very approachable & helpful to students. No other hwassignments besides reading. HIGHLY recommend.

I absolutely love this professor; she is so sweet and helpful! She knows the material extremely well and does a wonderful job lecturing. Exams are challenging but not impossible. As an AMST major, this was a great class! Barbieri is SUPER helpful and gives really great lectures. You definitely have to go to class and do all the reading though! Shes super nice and I would definitely take from her again. I would recommend her to non-majors too!

She assigned 2 papers but they were not too bad. Her tests are passable as long as you read and pay attention in class. Take notes!

Christina Barbieri is a very passionate professor. She loves American studies and opened my eyes to see things in our culture in a whole new perspective. Her lectures are awesome! She gives a lot of readings and only had one test for our final. There were four short papers based on class readings. Her class is fairly easy and is super interesting.

I took this class as something that wouldn't catch my attention, but definitely did. Barbieri is a great professor, however if you do miss one day your grade will suffer especially when its group work days. Lectures were great and was very interesting. I would definitely take this class again.

Barbieri is a really engaging prof. I don't have much of a humanities background, but she was always available to answer questions during office hours, and I ended up doing really well. I found that this class made me look at the subject of feminism and women a lot more than I did before I took her class and it was one I usually looked forward to.

Great prof! She expects you to read but the readings are interesting and she'll lecture on it to help you get it. Attendance counts but she gives you points for it! Also you can miss a couple of classes w/o marking you down. 5 small papers & if you meet with her she'll read your paper and edit everything to make you get an A!!

I LOVED HER! I took her for AMST 200. Attendance "mandatory" bc she gives lil quizzes for attendance randomly. Very straight forward teaching, clear material, she is very passionate about what she does. exams are exactly the notes she gives in class. Very caring and kind. Take her!!

Honestly I really love this professor. She lets you know what is expected in the class. You have daily notecards that count as attendance but she'll check if you decided to leave a notecard and ditch. She's super helpful during office hours with essays. Also the class is discussion based so if you don't do the reading you're screwed.

One of the best teachers I've had at Cal State Fullerton. She is incredibly passionate about what she teaches and makes the lectures fun. The class is easy as long as you show up and actually do the readings. I HIGHLY recommend her if your considering taking American Studies!

Everyone that complains about the her readings are just lazy. Yes you have to read each week, but welcome to College friends. You actually have to work to get your degree. I loved Barbieri for AMST 320. Her lectures were actually interesting and engaging. Yes the test are essay format, but if you actually read and show up to class they aren't hard.

lots of interesting reading, but books are cheap (rent them from library or find free online version). go to her office hours to proofread your speeches! i went to her office hours twice and regretted not doing it earlier in the semester. take advantage of extra credit opportunities for an A. she gives you a study guide which is EXACTLY like exams.

Honestly one of the best professors I've ever had at csuf. Very informative and knowledgeable about the subject matter. There is a lot of reading but all of it is useful and i've used them as source material for papers outside of this class. She's super understanding and is always willing to help. Do not pass up a chance to take her!

LOVE Christina, one of my fav professors!! I have taken AMST 101, 320 & 201 with her (fav: 320). All the (-) reviews about her are from lazy ppl who shouldn't even be in uni. She is extremely passionate of American Studies and every lecture is interesting. She is understanding towards students and you will leave each class with a new perspective.

There are 2 debates throughout the semester and both are worth 100 points. You get to choose a partner to work with for both debates. There are only 2 exams. She wants you to be extremely specific on her tests or else shell knock a lot of points off. As long as you read the materials and participate in debates, youll pass.

Very nice & funny. I would recommend attending class bc some midterm questions are lists and specific things she goes over in class. And you turn in flash cards for hw & for attendance. Read a couple of chapters from a book & then write a flash card summarizing it. Group discussions, a midterm, & a one page paper about a movie.

Professor Barbieri made American history interesting + applicable to modern-day politics and society. There is weekly reading, but it's not overwhelming -just make sure you do it so u get points on pop quizzes. Exams are the same as study guide, just TAKE GOOD NOTES. 2 debates make up most of your grade, but they're not intimidating. Ask questions!

Lots of reading but she makes it interesting. The lectures are interesting and she shows a lot of cool things in class. She really enjoys this subject and has fun teaching it. There was one group project and two tests. The tests were essay tests and she grades very hard on them. She is very understanding though and accessible to students.

Professor Barbieri was one of my favorite teachers this year. She is engaging and funny. Expect lots of readings and actually do them if you want to get a good grade. Two tests, two partner essays and a pop quiz Kahoot! or discussion for credit everyday. Overall one of my fav classes this year.

Is super caring and passionate about her students. Only had a midterm and a final paper. The class was overall pretty easy if you do the work.

As a person shes super entertaining and kept the class fun. You definitely need to read however to pass the midterm & final which are written. This class does require effort so if you want an easy A class then this isnt for you. You also have to work with a partner to complete assignments & show up to class as she gives you free points for going.

i LOOOOOVED this class. Great class for incoming freshmen. Interesting reading content and lively discussions. Sometimes we watched films. Small assignments w/ each reading. Final is a short paper and timed exam.

Super available outside of class & really helpful. She wants you to use stuff from lectures and readings in exams but when we were confused about that she dropped our lowest score! and told us about it before the next exam so alot of people only took one exam. Quizzes are annoying but not that bad. she drops the lowest 2 and makes them extra credit

had problems with the online system but she tried to be help. Most readings weren't too bad some weeks had longer readings. She curved assignments, offered extra credit & dropped quizzes. She does these zoom check in meetings which really help but aren't mandatory. Dude there is so much participation you can bomb the one test and still get a B.

LOVED the topic. U will have to read, watch a lecture and take a quiz every week. Does some zoom sessions that really help understand the class. Do the reading and watch, ask questions and the class is easy.

If you like to read and learn about our history this is the class for you! :) Christina is extremely flexible and understanding especially if you have personal things going on. COMMUNICATION is KEY! Professor Barbieri made this class easy to follow with interesting reading material and weekly quizzes. We had group projects and group discussions related to the reading material and power points. She was always available to answer questions and responded quickly. I loved this class and would take it again.

Professor Barbieri has been one of my favorite professors at CSUF! She is kind, and she really cares about her students' academic success. She always addressed my concerns with care and I always appreciated her personable qualities. I am not a history fan but her passion made me interested. Her lectures, tests, quizzes, and projects were organized.

This class is a tough one! You are tested on lectures and books assigned throughout the semester. If you put in the work you will love this class! She has so much rich information and class always flew by. She is very specific about what she wants on her tests and if you follow through, you will pass. This class is worth it!!! Take it!!!

I absolutely love this professor! I have taken two courses with her so far. she is always trying to improve her teachings and accommodate her students. During COVID. Great prof., cares about her students. No textbook, gives you link to audio book & PDF. She posts her lectures on Youtube and gives you a note guide to use with the lecture (do them). Weekly quizzes (drops lowest 3 quizzes)unlimited time/ open book based on the note guide and reading (super easy) 4 Written debates drops lowest one.

She is such an amazing professor. With the way she teaches, she helps students learn but also enjoys hearing what the students want to say about the subject matter. She has many debates but the topics are very straightforward and are pretty interesting to hear.

So nice! Provides pics of readings. Gives a 5-8 question quiz every week, & 3 written debate assignments with the option to do a 4th that could take the place of your lowest graded debate. Lectures are short & easy to follow. 30min Zoom meetup every other week, not mandatory, if you don't go you just have to post on discussion board about readings.

Professor Barbieri is very understanding and sweet, and her class is very organized. Each week you watch a lecture, and then have a discussion forum and quiz based on it and the readings. Do the readings! They are very interesting and informative. There are also three projects, not too hard but a little time-consuming (aka no exams or papers).

Professor B is great. We had 3 debates in place of tests, and a lot of the material is just reading. She has an assignment due almost every Sunday. Attendance is taken randomly either through Kahoot, exit ticket, or even just writing your name on a paper. Allowed to miss up to 3 classes, and she drops 2 of the lower scoring assignments.

Shes amazing and gives NO TEST. No final too if you like your grade at the end. No midterm and she randomly check attendance. Her assignment she grades hard but just write similarly to her notes and mention the readings she provides. The debates are confusing sometimes but give it an honest try and shell see that. The debates in action are fun!

Weekly assignments, in-class debates, NO EXAMS/QUIZZES, participation matters. GE class that is fairly easy - pay attention to rubrics of weekly assignments, she expects you to showcase your knowledge of the class material in order to get 20/20. I didn't go to every class but I went to the important ones (debate day) and I passed. She's funny

Don't know why all the other reviews are so negative. There's a 30 minute lecture + reading every week, but if you do the work, this class is an easy A. No midterms/exams (or final if you do your two papers). I got almost perfect scores on my 2 write ups, just use the material she's given you and you will too. Prof. is sweet & gives extensions.

Mrs. Barbieri's class was not at all a difficult one she did have three write-ups that we would do throughout the semester and 1 homework assignment every week but as long as you stay on top of it you should be good. I had her for an asynchronous class and she gave extensions whenever I needed them, she is a very nice professor.

Since it's online there's a lot of assignments but they're easy. She's super understanding and drops the lowest score in each type of assignment. Highly recommend.

Overall a great professor, 3 debates total. 1st debate was written, the other two were group debates. Group debates were fun, winning team gets extra credit. Weekly readings, they are doable if you give yourself time. Kahoot is sometimes used for participation, lectures aren't heavy and Final is Optional. There are virtual days too.

Did not need to buy the textbook, the textbook was the weekly readings. Non heavy lectures, group work sometimes. Sometimes did kahoot as participation. Final is optional. 3 debates, 1 written, 2 group debates. Winning team takes extra credit points. Virtual Days were stay at home days to watch documentaries and submit notes.

Really easy class. Instead of doing these individual projects that were a little confusing, she changed it to a group debate that was way easier to do, plus a better grading score with that. No quiz, test, or homework, just listening to lectures and occasionally group work was to be turned in, but even then that was easy.

THE BEST PROF EVER! Prof Barbieri's teaching style is low risk, high reward. It's evident that she cares about her students and their understanding of the material. Her lectures were very interesting and the readings she provided were stories and eras that I never learned about before. Highly recommend, she was very kind and approachable!

Definitely recommend her!! Such an amazing teacher, and very caring and understanding. Lectures are fairly easy, mainly consist of reading off slides. Weekly reading assignment with annotations and 3 debates that count as our "exams". Debates are fun and you work individually and in groups (no you don't have to go up in front of the whole class).

She's a very specific grader so for study guides go to her office hours and let her check it before you submit (otherwise you miss a lot of points). She's extremely passionate about American studies and I would definitely start her assignments earlier in the week since they can be nerve-wracking if you procrasinate.

She is probably one of the best Professors I've had, very down to Earth, kind, and helpful. There are no exams, instead, we have Independent Study guides and group debates, so please attend lectures and do the (free) readings. This is a class I only took as a GE and I genuinely enjoyed it, so I hope that gives my words more weight.

Weekly readings may seem like a lot, but she spaces them out and provides all the materials. Probably the funniest and nicest professor I have ever had, this is the second course I took with her. She pushes creativity and outside of the box thinking, so be prepared to have discussions in class. Responds quickly to questions outside of class time.
