Avoid this lady, she will ruin your GPA. She just gives us a huge 44 Chapter book to read and just wishes us luck on the test. Our grades are based only on these tests! I guess she wishes us to read her mind because she just says to pay attention to her or read the book. Don't take her unless if you love reading books and can memorize everything.
Professor Bentanzos is really great. She comes to class prepared with interesting lectures and many helpful examples from actual cases and news. Its true that there is lots of reading but she is always happy to answer any questions after class or in her office. She is very friendly and willing to help anyone who asks for it.
I have Professor Betanzos and I think she's good. It's not a super easy class because there is a lot of reading and some of it is hard but you can get an A or B if you work hard come to class and take good notes. Her lectures are good and she will answer any questions you have. SHe's really helpful if you ask and grades fair on the tests.
Prof. Betanzos is a really good teacher. Yes you *actually* have to go to class! But if you go to class and pay attention and do the reading you can do well. I am getting a high B right now and I know a couple of people who have As. This is *not* a blowoff class but anyone who takes it seriously will be fine.
be careful if you take this professor. She provides no weekly assignments that help you practice the material and you get a limited amount (50 minutes) for each exam even though the questions require thorough analysis. I love law and that's the only reason i'm passing. almost no one else is. try to get another profess or your gpa will be ruined
Take this class if you don't mind having a 99 percent risk of not passing it's cancelled last minute, the lectures are long and confusing. She makes plenty of mistakes while giving the lecture where you think you learned something but minutes down the road she realizes she meant something else. A headache is the best description. Take someone else
She pretends to care about her students but she couldn't care less. She isn't kind or nice. Ive been an honor student since freshman year but she likes the power she has over her students too much. don't take her class if you want an A or if you just want to pass because you wont. its one thing if her class was hard but its her that wants to fail u
So surprised at peoples negative reviews. I have had a good experience in her class. Seems like people who dont like her arent doing well. Definitely not an easy class lots of reading and LOTS of complicated material but she gives good real life examples and her lectures help you understand the reading. Most important thing is go to class.
I think she doesn't mean to fail students but she lacks a talent for *teaching* as in actually being able to impart the knowledge to her students to where they actually *learn and retain* or at least memorize the concepts for the tests. I had to teach myself the whole class. If you're good at reading books and learning by yourself I say go for it!
Christina Batanzos is super sweet, and really does care about students. I don't understand all the negative reviews. She is reasonable and upfront when it comes to what will be on the tests and what won't. She grades by few things but as long as you show up to class and take decent notes and read over them a few times before the tests you'll be ok.
This professor only likes to hear her own opinion. She's rude.. you can be speaking about something and if she doesn't like it she'll suddenly just uhh hmm and go to another person and afterwards go back to around where you sit and say "oh was someone saying something there? -rolls eyes- I could have sworn I heard something.. well moving on" smh
I loved this professor. She was amazing at explaining concepts so that you could understand them. If you attend class, you really won't have to read the textbook (but I recommend it anyway because it will guarantee good grades). She only had 3 exams and one writing assignment, so DO THE WORK otherwise you won't pass. Attend class, participate. The more you talk, the more likely she is to remember your name, which is a good thing.
I never read the book and managed to pass by just listening during lecture. Go to class. She is not the best teacher. she seemed unprepared most of the time. Last minute with grading etc. However this is just an intro class. Material is easy to study and learn. I hated the tests though BC she would try to make them tricky.
class is very stressful and takes up too much time and grading criteria is unclear
She's really nice but the worst professor I've had. DO NOT TAKE. She has no exam reviews or audio lectures as Polze does. She is not clear at all for what to expect for exams and is mediocre in teaching. Contradicts herself and sometimes doesn't even know the info. Says attendance is not required but has a sign in sheet every class like ??????????
I can't say enough good things about this teacher. I started going to her office halfway through the semester and it helped me a ton. I got a better grade on the second exam and a much better grade on the last one. She is super nice and will answer as many questions as you have. Anyone who doesn't like her is just mad because they didnt do well
This lady is not inspirational, she isn't kind to her students and not a professor I could even respect, and she has never been caring ad far as I can tell. I kept falling asleep cos of her voice and she repeats umm hmm a gazillion times - that's half of the class right there! I'd avoid her if you care about your gpa
scantrons are required yet she still takes over a month to grade tests, on the plus side we can eat in class, I wouldn't take the class again even if they paid
Ms. Betanzos is very kind and very helpful. Anyone who says she isn't has never bothered to go to her office. It's a huge lecture and there is a huge amount of reading, but if you listen to the lecture and study your notes, the powerpoint and the reading, you will get at least a low B. The tests are tough but fair. SMH ... Quit trolling her!
you don't have to attend just sign in the sign in sheet. imo she is kind! she raised my grade to a wholenother grade after the semester ended after I asked through email! I would recommend her
Prof. Betanzos is really a nice professor, I missed around 8 lectures but she still didn't take anything off from my final grade, her class lectures are informational enough to get a 80+ as I did, and not touch the book. The project she assigned was also and easy A. Overall she was a great professor.
attendance isn't part of our grade yet she still complains when we leave early, what a contradiction. Her work is sloppy its as if she doesn't know what shes doin
Incredible professor. Class is a typical lecture but she always allows students to mention real world examples and is more than happy to discuss them. If you visit her office you see how nice and caring she is and she will readily help your grade as long as you talk to her. I hope to have her as a professor in the future.
Mkes long exams that must be completed in too little time, you have 30-40seconds to answer each question but the questions are really complex and detailed. needs training, I wouldn't recommend her to a friend so I wont recommend her here either I went to her office and the only thing she could do was review my exams but didn't offer help of anykind
Unless you are fluent in business law already, don't take this professor. I had a 50 minute class with her and she spent 20-25 minutes discussing current events, which is not the course I signed up for, and then used the rest of the time going over 3-5 slides. No study guides, no reviews, no help. tests are 9 chapters so you better know how to read
There's only 3 tests for the whole semester, and each are around 8-9 chapters, so be ready to read to read the textbook and study. She doesn't give reviews, so you have to pay attention in class what she goes over in class is what will be on the test. However, she is GREAT at making lecture interesting and giving real life examples!
As long as you attend class and pay attention, you will pass tests, if you want to get an A, then you also should use the PowerPoints as guides to go through chapters in the book. Tests aren't difficult if you do these things. All those who are complaining, just didn't put in the effort and expected this to be a blow off class
3 exams and one 1 page essay. Study the lecture notes and you'll be fine. The textbook is not needed since she does not go over everything. Study the terms and always listen to the court cases and the examples she gives, because usually they'll be on the exam. Friendly teacher who will remember your name if you participate in current event talks.
She suggests you read the book, but I didn't and got A's on everything. If you show up to class and pay attention, then you'll be fine. Don't be afraid to ask questions, because she'll explain things differently if needed to help you understand. I highly recommend her. Tests weren't difficult at all. She basically tells you everything in class.
She's a horrible professor. She only rambles on and the powerpoints are mostly blank so you don't even know what to study on them. I took her course and know absolutely nothing about laws about business smh and I've neer had this problem with any other professor at UTD so you know she isn't good! Hahaha!! Run away choose someone else
I loved this class. The textbook is not necessary because she covers everything in class. As long as you pay attention to all of the discussions then it should be fairly easy to pass the class. I feel she made a boring subject interesting.
She goes over current events at the beginning of every class which takes a lot of time. She is caring and definitely knows what she is talking about but goes off topic too much. Her power points are empty so you need to read outside of class because the tests aren't easy.
She's a great teacher for this class. I would recommend her as a good BLAW teacher. She explains everything very well.
Prof. Betanzos is so good. This class covers a ton of material so you definitely need to come to class and do the readings. But if you do that you will learn so much. She teaches us so much about the law and how it relates to real life. You cant just rely on her power points. You have to listen and take notes. Easy B or A if you do that.
The notes are powerpoints you fill in with answers as she lectures. She can move pretty fast sometimes, but if the class stays engaged and asks questions it helps to slow it down. Study for tests with the powerpoints and use the book to reinforce any concepts you don't understand. The book isn't required, but it is a very helpful study tool.
I love, love, love this prof. She knows how to teach. Such an easy A, if you pay attention and read the chapters. I truly love and will miss he lectures. She does go fast at times, but then again you're in a university you can handle it & if you can't drop out of this class.
Prof. Betanzos is awesome. She is so smart. Just go to class and take decent notes. Her lectures cover everything you need to know and the pop quizzes are easy free points. If you dont go or you sit with your earbuds in and dont listen your screwed. She is super helpful in office hours if you dont understand anything from class.
Prof. Betanzos masters the topic she is talking about, but she goes too fast each topic. Just 3 tests, 5 pop quizzes (attendance) and a project. Each test was 50 question, in 50 min. Almost impossible to do it if you donnot have clear the concepts already. Not a nice person. Every time I participated in class she just ignore my question. Good luck!
Prof. Betanzos is amazing! Don't let some of these comments scare you. She cares about her students and is a very smart woman. If you participate in class/sit towards the front, she will go out of her way to know and remember your name. BY FAR MY FAVORITE PROF. Never opened my book and got A/B (haven't gotten my final grade yet)
Professor Betanzos was good at teaching BLAW. If you don't come to class, you might not pass. She gives us pop quizzes, but she gives you a 100 on them as long as you fill it out. She doesn't give homework except for the 2 writing assignments, which was easy. Overall, I believe you need to read the book in order to do great on the exams.
She covers current events in every class, and they (including her comments about them) will show up on the exams. There are also pop quizzes throughout the semester, and the PowerPoints she posts online have lots of fill-in-the-blank sections and questions, so you absolutely need to attend class to pass. Great lectures.
This class was easy. Just show up to class and take good notes. Make sure you understand the hypotheticals she gives in the slides because more than likely those will be on the test. As long as you attend class you will get a A/B. If you don't show up to class you will fail and that's on you. PLEASE DONT BUY TEXTBOOK!!!!!!
This professor is very passionate about business law. She does tend to go quickly in her lectures so I would suggest writing the notes down beforehand and fill in the blanks during class. Thats what I did and it seemed to work. Other than that, she is very personable and friendly. I would recommend her as a professor!
Professor Betanzos is an incredible lecture and she really engages her students. If you pay attention you will do great in her class. She also gives really great examples to tell you on the test.
make sure you go to class & pay attention. I barely managed to get an A- by reading the textbook because I didnt pay attention. Free 100s on pop quizzes if you show up. I didnt enjoy the class and struggled to listen, so idk. If a different prof works for you, go with that.
I highly recommend showing up because there are attendance "pop quizzes" (participation grade), and her tests are straight from the lectures. Anything not covered in class will not be on the test. The professor explains concepts in an easier way, and questions are welcome. The professor is very approachable and friendly.
The tests are straightforward if you do the reading and pay attention in class. She's available outside of class and easily approachable. I recommend going to talk to her during office hours even if you don't need help!
Professor Betanzos is wonderful. It is obvious from her class lectures that she works super hard to make the class interesting and relevant to every day life. Its not the easiest elective in JSOM but its totally worth it. Go to her office. She will help with anything you need.
Prof is super detailed. If you go to class and pay attention and take notes you will have almost everything you need to do ok on the tests. Reading gives you everything else. She doesnt do test reviews but tells everyone to come see her with questions. If you go, listen, take notes, and study, you will get at least a B for sure.
what sucks most about this class is the fact this the entire grade is based on 3 exams, barely a small essay and attendance. the exams are pretty difficult and the lecture is too long and can get very tiring and boring Her slides are incomplete open questions so you either have to write down every word she says in class or read the entire chapters
Professor Betanzos is amazing! She is very accessible outside of the classroom and is genuinely interested in teaching her students. This was probably my favorite class this semester. She gives 7 pop quizzes (for attendance not grades) and there is a small writing assignment and 3 exams. Go to class bc it helps!
Take this professor! So genuinely caring and passionate about her job/the subject! Usually 8pt curves on exams and as long as you show up and study- easy A. Everyone said to take Polze for BLAW, but you'll probably get a higher grade and enjoy this class WAY more. I cannot say enough good things about this course/professor! Don't buy txtbk tho:(
How to get an A: Attend every class, sit close to the front, TAKE NOTES, have a general interest in the topic. In my experience, wonderful professor. Tests are based on the discussions during class so TAKE NOTES. DO NOT depend on the powerpoint slides. She gave a lot of examples in class to understand the material and I wrote them down as well.
LOVED this class. I had no idea how many things had some kind of legal issue involved and this prof does a good job of showing how law and business interact. Def go to class and take good notes from the lectures. Also go to her office - she will help with anything you need. Super easy B if you study. Can get an A if you put the time in.
Have Professor Betanzos for summer school Blaw now. She is great. Makes a long (4 hr) class go surprisingly fast. She covers a lot every week but if you follow along and ask questions there is nothing too hard to understand. Listen, take good notes or share with someone who does, and study for the tests. Powerpoints alone not enough.
This is a good class. Interesting. Hard for sure if you dont go to class, pay attention or take notes. Lol the guy next to me who watches Netflix. Dont know how he will pass. Best part is Prof. Betanzos. She answers every question and has office hours basically always. She will always take time to talk if you need her.
Don't know why her rating is so low, her lectures are great. Probably people who're salty because they did bad on their exams. Betanzos only gives 3 exams and 1 easy writing assignment, so if you don't do well on one exam your average is pretty much decided. There's no extra credit, but if you work hard, you'll do well. Reading the textbook helps.
Professor does not stick to only the important topics. She talks about very irrelevant things in class which give power to irrelevant questions being asked by students. This course is very difficult and her tests are nothing like what she says in class. Her tests are the most insane exams you will ever give at UTD. If you're in UTD pick theotherguy
she curves each exam about 10 points. super nice. accessible. open to questions. easy to get an A if you show up and pay attention. reading is not mandatory but is helpful. looks for students best interest. SHE GIVES HUGE CURVES ON EXAMS!!!! can't go wrong with her. only 2 people in class didn't get a 100% on the essay.
Professor Betanzos is probably my favorite professor this semester. She is so nice and always tries to get the class involved in her lectures. Her class consists of 3 exams and an essay. The tests are pretty straightforward, and the essay won't be hard.
Class is very discussion-based. Typically spend a lot of time going over concepts in depth as a result. Several slides a chapter are skipped. Easy enough if you study, but not back-breaking studying. Only one assignment. Awesome experience, really engaging. Knew most of the students names in a 100+ person classroom. Great class.
She is an amazing teacher and inspires me to study law! Her lectures were always so entertaining and her tests are relevant to the information given in class.
You can tell Preofessor Betanzos really cares about her students, she's always willing to answer people's questions. If you go to class you should do well, as she covers all topic in class that will be on the exams. She also gives huge curves!
I took her for BLAW 2301 and I tell she is the hardest professor I have taken at UTD. Her exams are the worst. Make sure you take notes in her class. Without that you will not pass. Her exams questions are creative which makes it more harder to answer. Overall, I will say don't take her.
She's SO political. Aside from that, her exams are chock full of current events and trick questions. 3 exams, 1 writing assignment is all you're graded on. 50 MC questions for exam. Maybe I just didn't gel with her way of teaching, but this is the first time I've really struggled in a class.
Definitely go to the lectures if you want to do well on the tests. the textbook is really helpful. 1 easy essay. 3 tests, 25 T/F, 25 MC. The questions can be pretty tricky, but I'm pretty sure she curves the tests. She's a good, engaging lecturer, makes the material interesting, and encourages discussion.
There are only 3 exams and 1 writing assignment so if you bomb any one you basically screw up your whole grade. There NEEDS to be a change in the class. Apparently she does curve the exams but she could give extra credit assignments or something. This class brought down my GPA drastically.
I have to disagree with the recent awful comments. You MUST go to class to pass as she does include her topics discussed in class on the exams, but she literally tells you the answers to the questions that you will see on the test. You can probably get a C just by going to lecture but you have to read also to understand better. Really good teacher!
You can tell she enjoys teaching and wants students to understand the material. 3 exams and 1 very easy writing assignment. Definitely go to class if you want to do well & understand the material - she does post the slides online, but there's a lot of info on the test that is covered in lectures & not always on the slides.
Betanzos was one of the best professors I had my first semester at UTD. Her tests are fairly straight forward, 25 T/F and 25 MC. She genuinely cares about her students and is always ready to help. Best if you actually go to class because she does incorporate examples and class discussions into her exams. BLAW is a tough course, but you'll enjoy it!
She's definitely one of the best professors I had. It's so obvious that she loves what she is talking about & knows the material very well. The classes are not boring. She's super kind, makes sure everyone understands the topic. You shouldn't skip classes if you want to get an A.
Super engaging professor, but difficult material. If you skip class, don't do it often, and GO to her office hours!! 3 exams, one 30 pt. assignment. It's easy to pass with good scores, but it's also easy to fail... beware. Be engaged in class or else you'll find it dreadful. Try to participate as much as possible, it's the best way to learn.
3 tests and one short essay for grades. she's a funny person and makes lectures easy to understand (gives lots of examples) but not a really good prof. exams are very detailed. if someone asks a question in class she'll say she'll answer it next class but she won't and that question shows up on the exam.
Very engaging professor. Gives many good examples. Would definitely take another class from her. Attendance is not required, but it's the easiest way to earn an A in that class. Never read a single page from the textbook, just show up to every class and listen and take notes. Should be a clean A.
you need to go to this class in order to pass. everything on the test is covered during her lecture. her lectures are amazing and she gives great examples that help during the test. all you need to study is the notes from her lectures, never read the textbook.
Professor Betanzos is such a sweet person. Her lectures are engaging and she makes complex things much easier to understand. 1 writing assignment (easy A) and three exams. You really do have to pay attention in class and take notes. Exams cover lectures and textbook material. Her exams can be confusing (MCQ and T/F) so you have to study hard.
You cannot rely on memorization with this class because her exams are tricky and you have to know how to apply them on the questions on the exams. She does not take attendance but I highly suggest attending her lectures because you might missed out on current events and examples she goes over in class that might appear on the exams.
Super enthusiastic, sweet, and engaging professor. She is always willing to answer questions. The wording of her exams is similar to her lectures. You have to study for the tests and know the specific ways law works/doesn't work. Curves tests + gives extra credit. Grade is based out of 330 points: three exams (100 pts each) and an essay.
Betanzos is a great prof and a caring one at that. Always engages class and manages to make business law fun. Uses lots of current events in exams, but kind of makes students excited to share their own in class. Only graded by 3 exams and a writing assignment, so do your reading and go to class. Study a week before the exams and you will do fine!
One of my favorite professors I've had at UTD. Her lectures are interesting and engaging (even when the material itself is tedious), and she explains all of the topics in detail and uses a lot of examples. Attendance isn't mandatory but I HIGHLY recommend going to each class if you want to do well on the exams.
The Exams are easy if you Read and Study every day. It is easy to go from an A to a C or A to B very fast depending on how serious you are. Her exams are True and False and Multiple Choice based on the book, current events, and court cases. Focus on exam strategy, the review section, the multiple-choice problems, court cases, and Mindtap Exam Prep
I got an A in this class and never opened the textbook. I just went to class and typed her notes/wrote down her examples that she gives. She covers everything in her lecture. Even if you don't take notes just really listen and you'll remember everything for the exam. Her exams are just like the examples she gives in class.
If you are not a strong test taker, prepare to be one because your grade depends on it. Go to class and participate. It will help you understand better. Or at least listen. She will tell you what to study for exams just study it. Read the book as well, trust me. Newsflash the book is short, besides the cases. She is awesome !
Great professor who has real world experience. Be prepared to take good notes, you will learn a lot from her that you won't find anywhere else. There are no online notes and she includes current events in her tests. Difficult class but only 3 non-cumulative exams. Can't go wrong with Professor Betanzos.
Attendance isn't mandatory, but attending every single class is crucial to doing well. Professor Betanzos' lectures are engaging and she involves students in real-world examples. Reading the textbook isn't necessary, but it's great review material before the exam.
Sure she's a sweet lady, but don't equate that to teaching capabilities. Her tests take up a majority of your total grade, and they're mainly focused on current events she covers in class--but more in-depth than she explains. Most of the class seemed to barely pass. I don't think I would take her again, really wish I would have taken Polze.
She's a really nice lady and cares about her students, but her tests were really difficult. I felt as though all the questions are super long-winded and require you to practice a lot of questions from the book. If you want to do well, you HAVE to show up and pay attention in class. Take notes on the slides, current events, and her hypotheticals.
She's such a sweet lady! Love attending her lectures because it provides lots of relevant and useful information. Many give her bad reviews because they're lazy and didn't go to class. If you go to class, skim through the chapter before lectures, you're going to do great. 3 exams, 1 paper and 1 final
She is really sweet, funny, and overall a good teacher. Lots of patience and always available during office hours to help students. This course is REALLY hard in my opinion, a lot of studying and understanding the material. The test questions are tricky af! Study the lectures and take VERY GOOD NOTES. I chose CR/NCR option due to COVID so no grade.
Do not take if you want a good grade. It seems like on her tests she tries her absolute hardest to trick you on every single question so you don't make a good grade. She gives good lectures but tests are just impossible to do well because of all the tricks.
The grade you get in this class is literally based off of the tests. There are basically only 4 grades- 3 tests and an essay. If you mess up on even one test, you are basically done for. The lectures are pretty interesting, but the tests have really confusing questions. I do not recommend taking this course with Professor Betanzos.
If you're a good test taker, you should be fine in this class. She's enthusiastic about the material, so you won't zone out during lecture. I attend synchronous lecture online and watch the lectures again at 2x to take better notes. She also curves the exams. The exams for this semester have a duration of 1 hour, and it's open note.
She's a nice person but the tests are absolutely unrelated to the material. The textbook and lectures teach you the material only to get to the test and realize it makes no sense at all and you could reasonably apply more than one answer. There are also random current event questions that she passingly talks about in class. You will not do well.
This class is comprised of 3 exams and 1 paper. However, the professor's teaching is literally reading from the book. I do not recommend her at all if you expect an easy class. Her exams are so confusing compared to the material she went over!
DO NOT trust these reviews (people are lazy and do not attend class). They made me foolish enough to question Professor Betanzo's skills. She is one of the best professors I've ever had. Simply attend class and pay attention and you will make an A. The exams are incredibly easy and straightforward. Study hypotheticals, cases, and case strategy.
Literally an amazing teacher, I don't know what any of the negative comment is saying. All you literally have to do is pay attention in class take the notes and you will literally have an A in the class. I recommend copy and pasting all the PowerPoint slides beforehand and just add on to it in the lectures, if you do that you'll have an A.
Reading these highly rate reviews baffles me. These exams are tough she only does the lecture part right. However, if you want to excel on these exams you would need to do more than that. Study the book, reviews more on current events, and take heavy notes. This class is tough, I wouldnt recommend if you Plan on taking this for an easy grade.
This class was made up of 3 tests and 1 writing assignment. In order to pass this class, You have to pay attention during her lectures. If you have questions during class then she will answer. I personally didn't read the book at all but I took super detailed notes and studied before all the tests.
Love Professor Betanzos! Her lectures are interesting and she's always willing to answer questions and you can tell she wants you to enjoy the class. Take good notes because she goes through lots of examples that are helpful for the exams. An A should be easy if you pay attention.
Best professor! Only one writing assignment for homework the whole semester. Her powerpoints outline the textbook well, just listen to the lectures to fill them in. She cares about what she's teaching and speaks an a way that makes you want to listen.
The class grade is based on 3 exams (300 points), theres one writing assignment (10 points). If you bomb one exam youre basically screwed. Her exams are a bit hard but youll be fine if you have really detailed notes, pay attention in class and remember the concepts properly. She teaches very well, definitely not a class you can blow off though
Overall, she genuinely enjoys the subject matter but dont rely on just the slides to pass her class! Attending lectures and taking Good notes are essential to passing with a respectable grade. The lectures are definitely fun as it has good participation but if you aren't into law it can be dry.
The class consisted of just 3 tests and 1 writing assignment. The tests can be hard if you do not take very good notes and really prepare. The writing assignment was REALLY easy. The class can be hard, but she is awesome and makes the experience great. Totally recommend taking her class.
Professor Betanzos is one of the best professors at UTD. The grading is based on 1 writing assignment (which is easy to get full credit on) and 3 tests. She is an amazing lecturer so if you attend all lectures and make sure you write down everything she is, especially the examples, the tests will be easy.
I would definitely recommend taking this professor! Her lectures are very interesting and well explained, she answers all of your questions, and is just an overall kind professor. There are only a few grades that go in. One writing assignment and then exams, however, the exams are open-note. She also provides extra credit opportunities.
I really enjoyed this class. She does current events which I found interesting and explains topics well. The exams were open note and open book, but they were timed so attended lectures and take good notes. It is A LOT of information so open book wont save you unless you put in the effort beforehand to study and have good notes.
Professor Betanzos is fantastic. She responds very well to participation in class. Ask questions! She wants to help you learn. Also very caring and helpful outside the context of her class-- go and visit her if you need to talk to someone.
It is important that you attend her lectures because her lectures are amazing. She is very patient and answers all of your questions thoroughly so you can understand it. She gives great real life and current event examples so students can understand properly. The tests are content heavy and you will have to study to earn to good grade. Take her!!!
Professor Betanzos masters the subject matter and gives her lectures very clearly. She also promotes a lot of participación in class.
Lectures are not good and dont relate to the test. Class is a waste of time should have stuck with being a lawyers assistant or paralegal or something because she is a bad professor and doesnt have a passion for teaching or helping students
Professor Betanzos is an amazing professor. However, BLAW 2301 is a hard class. This is not an easy A. You have 4 grades in the class and that is it. An essay worth 30 points and then 3 tests that are each worth 100 points. So the class is a total of 330 points. You have to attend every day because her lectures are essential to do well.
3 exams & 1 short writing assignment. exams are tough bc they are all application questions. Lecture heavy, attendance is not required but definitely go to class. Professor Betanzos, nice person & cares about her students. But dont take this class if you want an easy A or you like to take your time on exams. Wouldnt take again tbh.
She is so nice and is a good teacher. However, she is FAST!! I personally learn better with someone who slows down so that i can soak in all of the information but i felt overwhelmed with the speed of the lectures at times. She is willing to repeat what she says but its almost impossible to take notes during her lectures which sucks. Tests are okay
THE BEST lecturer!! Very engaging, entertaining, and easy to pay attention to. YOU MUST study for exams, as not all material is covered in class. I recommend making a friend and joining a study group. The more you engage, the more you learn in a fun way, not just by reading a textbook. If you have her as an option, take her class!!! She is great!
She is definitely a great professor! Her lectures are very involved and interesting. I will also say that attending lectures is key. If you attend the lectures and take good notes then this class is great. One good thing is that there isn't regular assignments, which does make it a bit easier. I would definitely recommend her class.
Professor Betanzos is good. Her lectures are really interesting, & she genuinely cares about her students. However, BLAW 2301 is difficult. There are only three tests & an essay (the essay is really easy). You have to know the material very well, so attend the lectures, pay attention, & take notes.
I absolutely loved her class. Her lectures are very interactive and enhance your knowledge. I would definitely recommend her class to everyone.
By far the best professor here. She gives great, amazing, and detailed lectures. Everything she talks about in class are in the tests. Just show up to class, take good notes (especially when she uses examples/stories - always on tests), study the information and youre good. I learned a lot in this class and it was very fun and easy. Love her!!
not mandatory attendance but you want to be there for her lectures. they're basically the exams especially for examples she talks about. FAST talker but she'll go over it only once or twice again. 3 exams (application based) and 1 writing assignment (easy). take GOOD notes, quizlets, and textbook mc questions. discusses current events (on test)
Prof. Betanzos was AMAZING. Her lectures are super engaging and the current event discussions are super interesting (if you have a conversational and smart class). The grades are only 90% tests (3 tests and 1 paper), but I did minimal studying and got 95+ on all tests. She also curves around 10 points and the writing assignment is super easy
I was shocked at the low ratings that Prof. Betanzos received. She truly is an amazing professor. If you attend class and pay attention to what she is saying, you will pass her class easily. She makes her lectures easy to follow and comprehend. Just show up and listen. She also will answer any questions you have through email or in person.
Best professor Ive had so far. She is fun, intelligent, and kind. The lecture is always interesting and most of the content mirrors what is found in the textbook. She also makes her power points available online. My class is 2hrs and 45min long and I still look forward to it. I haven't finished the course yet and I already want to take her again.
Prof. Betanzos lectures are super engaging, and the current event discussions are super interesting. There are three exams and one writing assignment in the class. The exam is somewhat challenging but is manageable if you study. She also curves around 10 points, and the writing assignment is super easy
The professor was not too bad. Some of my friends took another professor for the same class and all their tests were open note unlike ours. The 1 assignment is easy,3 tests are hard. You need to pay attention to the lectures and current events really well to pass the tests. If you can, take the class as a transfer credit.
Professor Betanzos is amazing, but she has one large assignment and three huge exams. The exams have no review and are over lots of terms and topics, yet the exam is application based. She applies a small curve though. Her lectures are interesting and it's fun to participate but those exams will have you question everything. I recommend her!
Best professor I've had at this school. This course is test heavy but if you show up for every class and pay attention it's pretty much a guarantee C or B. The professor interacts with the class ALOT during lecture and answers any and all questions. She also provides the power points on elearning. She never tests on anything not covered in class.
Only has 3 tests does not engage with students. I took this class at Collin instead of UTD after having to drop this crazy lady professor. I can't stress this enough transfer this credit if possible. The class is a complete joke, requires attendance but my Collin class was completely online and learned much more.
I am not good at law at all! She made this class easier for me even though I struggle with law. Just make sure you write everything down in class even the current events because she will refer to specific lectures on the tests. Very interesting class and most of the time fun. I would recommend taking the class in the morning because focusing helps.
I am one of the dumbest students ever but this professor actually made it easy. Make sure you pay attention to the current events which she goes over class and are interesting. There are quizlets online to help you study for the tests which are basically just the slides copied and pasted. Tests tricky but you'll be fine memorize the quizlet terms
I'm a great writer but I am limited by the character count. Amazing professor (very animated and likable), test-only class (but 1 easy writing assignment), lectures not required but highly recommended for those who do not study well on their own. Very open to questions and emails. I hope this prof doesn't change next semester!
I found her lectures engaging and had an easy time understanding the concepts she covered. Remember to pay attention to the current event as it will be mentioned on the test. The tests are curved but aren't bad if you regularly attend class and read the book.
She made law very easy to understand. I had her 3 hour night class, but still enjoyed her class. Attendance is not mandatory but I wouldn't miss a single class because you will miss many chapters. Everything that she says in class will be on the exam. Three test, one easy writing assignment and extra credit opportunity.
Prof. Betanzos was the best professor I've ever had! She really cares about her students in a personal way. The class is run like a conversation, if you put in the effort to talk during class and study, you'll succeed. She ties in class to what's going on in the world. There were often spirited debates and the class was very close-knit at the end.
Best teacher in my college career, she prefaces shed like the class to be a conversation instead of a lecture. I showed up to every 4 hour night class because she was that good. 3 exams and 1 hw for summer portion. If you dont want to go to class take someone else, youre wasting a spot for another student.
Her lectures are excellent. They aren't even like lectures because they are so entertaining! There is one writing assignment and three exams. This may sound risky (I was scared, too), but she makes it so easy to understand that all you need to do is review your notes to get an A on the exam. It's a very generous curve as well!
Professor Bentanzos is an amazing lecturer as she explains concepts thoroughly, but be prepared to read the book and study for the tests, which are worth 90% of your final grade. It is imperative that you attend promptly all her lectures as they are in the test and write everything she says. In short, I would recommend taking her for BLAW.
For BLAW2301, the class is built around her lectures. You must attend class, listen, and take notes to ace the tests. She wants her students to be successful, and she thinks that is by participating. She curved all 3 of the exams. She made a definite impact on me. Highly recommend.
Professor Betanzoz is a good professor when It comes to teaching Blaw. However, the class is very test-heavy, with one writing assignment impacting the grade less than the test. You must attend the class to pass the class, from the notes to the current events. This class is not an easy A+, and you must study outside to pass.
She's a really interactive professor, loves involving her students in the lectures and it helps you learn better. Tests are completely based on the lectures in class. PAY ATTENTION TO CURRENT EVENTS!!!
Bases some things in the tests on things she says strictly in class which is annoying if you don't go to class. She's an alright professor but you can definitely find a better professor that would make this course easier. Made the class harder than it should've been compared to other professors. Be prepared to sit in 3 hour lecture if taking.
She's pretty knowledgeable and makes her business law class as fun as it can be. Her exams are HARD compared to other professors, so be prepared to work for an A. She sometimes gives extra credit, which helps. Make sure to know what to take notes on and what's filler. Teaching-wise, she's alright, nothing special.
The exams were challenging but her assignments were ok and extra credit helped boost my grade. The tests were open note during Covid pandemic
Very solid professor who offered engaging lectures and made sure to prioritize classroom engagement. Attendance is not mandatory, but helps massively.
She is so nice. Her lecture is also good but difficult. Even though she is good, her test is really hard. This class is not easy and make your semester harsh. I don't recommend her class.
Everything she goes over in the lectures is on the test. If you pay attention and try to participate a bit, you're good. There is a textbook but you don't really need it as long as you go to class, but attendance isn't mandatory. She is very sweet and makes long lectures interactive and fun. Tests are a bit hard tho so study.
This class is very lecture heavy, and I would suggest coming to class and paying attention. She provides amazing lectures but is rather fast paced (not my personal learning style but might be to you! So, take it with a grain of salt). There are 3 exams and 1 writing assignment. Exams are decently challenging but attend class and you will be okay.
Professor Betanzos' BLAW2301 class is challenging but engaging. Exams are tough, so stay on top of the lectures and readings. Luckily, unstuck AI has been a lifesaver for prepping - way better than just relying on the textbook alone.
Easy to pass this class if you pay attention and take lots of notes otherwise you're cooked when you get to a test.
1 short answer HW and three 50q MCQ exams (non-cumulative) on scantrons which i think she curves. You will do good if you go to class and take notes because she uses real world scenarios which arent on the slides but will be on the exam. very enthusiastic professor who explains stuff very well
This class needs your full attention during lectures. She uses PowerPoints with blanks to fill in and explains everything in detail,so taking notes is important. There are 3 exams which are pretty tough,so study hard since they make up a big part of your grade.Other than that the professor is really nice & engaging with her students.
Prof. Betanzos is a good professor. You can tell she really cares about the topic and your success, but it is not an easy A class. There are 3 noncumulative exams, each worth 100 points and 1 easy writing assignment worth 30 points. Exams are all MCQ, but very lecture heavy. She mentions real world events in her lectures that will be on the exam.
Nice lady, not the best professor. A few chances for extra credit, only 1 paper and 3 tests for a total of 330. If you miss a lecture you're gonna miss a key case on the test. The lectures were interesting and discussions were good. Hard class. Study hard lol.
Nice lady, but not the best professor for this class. There are extra credit opportunities if you stay the ENTIRE class Time. 1 writing assignment and 3 tests. If you miss a lecture, you'll miss important cases that show up on the test. The lectures are interesting, and the discussions are good, but it's a tough class.
She's very sweet and willing to help her students! I HIGHLY recommend showing up to class, paying attention, and taking good notes, or else you won't do well in the class. Her lectures are really fun and engaging. Only graded on 3 tests and a writing assignment. Sometimes she'll give extra credit for showing up to class.
Skip? You won't pass. Class slides do not involve important things from lecture. She goes off textbook so it's super helpful to read ahead of time/with the lecture. She's AMAZING, VERY depth, VERY engaging, kind, LOVED taking having her. Graded on nothing besides 3 exams and a writing, so do well and study. Sometimes gives xtra cred for showing up
Honestly not too bad if you just show up and kinda listen for important bits. I downloaded the textbook for free and read the chapters and write notes based on the slides she posts. You do have to show up in order to pass because she mentions specific cases and things you need to know on the Exam. Overall she was really nice and entertaining.
Really great professor. You can tell she enjoys teaching and makes an active effort in connecting with her students to make sure everyone understands the material. Only downside of this course is that there are only 3 exams and 1 writing assignment. Good luck.
Nice lady, and she is alright. There are extra credit opportunities. 1 writing assignment and 3 tests. If you miss a lecture, you'll miss important cases that show up on the test. The lectures are interesting, and the discussions are good, but it's a tough class. It's a application-based class.
I think her class is very easy as but you will have to read the textbook chapters and study the textbook chapter questions. Class is not mandatory but she does give extra credit if you participate and stay during the whole class. She is a very sweet professor, easy to talk to, and you can tell she cares a lot for her students.
