She teaches English, yet English is her 2nd language. Extremely unclear. Avoid.
her heavy accent makes it impossible to understand anything she's saying. she's not very available for office hours.

Her accent is not a problem and she holds intersting discussions. The work load is average, but the material is not difficult.
She has an accent. Gives a lot of busy work and you don't know what she expects out of you. But she's a nice lady
Ok, i dont care about her accent, good way to make fun of her but otherwise a horribly boring teacher who made me avoid class as much as possible and did not help me become a better writer in the slightest, AVOID FOR YOUR OWN SAKE!!
All I can say is zzzzzz..... This class is horribly boring. Only quizzes on the reading and a couple papers on boring topics.

can't STAND her. she has absolutely no sense of humor and made me hate poetry. wants to be helpful, but isn't really. class is horribly boring. i think she's pretty biased as well. do yourself a favor and don't take her. she hasn't taught me****.
Accent, not a problem. it is a lot to handle, but she's pretty understanding, i missed like 3 quizzes and she let me retake them as well as one i did bad on. the quizzes are easy and its easy to B.S. in class. but be prepared for alot of work if you join
She is a horrible teacher. She made me hate poetry. Most people in her class dropped for the semester. You have to meet with a group outside of class for 20 minutes and you have weekly reading reponses. There is a midterm paper and final paper.

Quizes are easy if you do the reading, papers are very hard. Boring, could do fine in class without even going, except that she gives participation points.
Her class was very boring and tedious... I never looked forward to her class. She is not mean, but she's not nice either. I would not recommend taking a class from her.
This class was HORRIBLY boring. WEEKLY SINGLE SPACED, one page reading journals. she does not care what you think, only what she thinks. she tries to be helpful but is not. she also looks down on her students and plays favorites.
This professor was neither clear or helpful with the assignments she gave to her students. She is by far one of the worst teachers I have had in my academic career. 5 papers & a lot of busy work.Bacially a new draft was due every class
this teacher must go back to where ever she came from. she is not good, and all the work and paper wasted is crap. all she does is critize and look down.

Good lord, i didn't know anyone could actually make me HATE WRITING as much as she has. It is a borin class with all the BUSYWORK we are not suposed to have in college! NO POINT to this class except to stress you out. GO FOR ANY OTHER TEACHER
There is a tremendous amount of work that you must put into this class. Not only is she rude, hard to understand, and takes no consideration for what you have to say she doesn't put work into grading what you write. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS, SHE IS EVIL, seriously!
Very boring class, doesn't help you understand or like poetry any more, just ask you to look deeper into the poem.

While I liked English pre-Bog. my interest level has dropped way low. I think i am going to get an A, but nonotheless, its because it is easy to b.s. in office hours. i feel i learned little about the writing process, and my writing has gotten worse because it all got muddled. plz go w/ some1 else.
Is this an econ class or english class?!? Makes us write a gang of essays that never get graded, I have no idea where the final grade comes from. Make us think very deeply on writing topics that are useless. Gets too in depth on the economy and the American dream, then teaching us to write.
She's a nice person, but I honestly felt that I had to play dumb to get my point across to her. You have to step down a lot for this class if you're coming from an advanced lit background. It's all basic here, nothing fancy. She doesn't really explain why she gives the grades she does either.

Nothing that comes out of this teachers mouth makes any sense what-so-ever! Nice lady but always looking for a specific answer to her questions that you can't understand. Tons of essays that never get turned in or graded, if you're going to take this class, know which essays are important to do.
she was an interesting teacher yes the classes were boring but easy..weekly journal u can BS, the paper i wrote the night before and got an A without reading any poems as long as u participate she will like you, say anything

She was so easy! I don't know what anyone here is talking about. I never read for her class and put minimal work into her papers and got an A. If you go in there with attitude she's going to dish it back. Walk in with an open mind and prepare to back u
This class was a breeze. She doesn't teach you a heck of a lot but she doesn't demand much either. I enjoyed her selection of readings. Tests are easy and only a two papers to turn in, last paper was instead of a final.
Easy class, but seriously the worst professor i have had. Her lectures put me to sleep and her self-centered, egotistical attitude is very annoying. She basically does not let the students disagree with her point of view. Overall, boring professor who ruined what would have been an interesting class.
VERY boring, but her assignments aren't bad. There are only two papers. NO final or midterm, which was great. only two papers during that time. her quizes are easy, only plot questions. kind of hard grader. just sitting in class is unbearable because it is so boring. LOTS of lecture. you must do good on papers to do good in class
I love english, I really do, but this class is dreadful. Lectures every class, doesn't let you have your own opinion, cuts you off, and thinks her interpretation of the text is the only right answer. Love the books, 2 big essays and reading, but teacher is frusterating.
She is such an easy professor if you just do what she wants you to do. She works around YOUR schedule, not HERS: she lets you pick when and what you want your presentation to be on and lets you pick your topic for the 2 essays.(1 of these essays is in lieu of a final).
Appears hard and poses a lot of thoughtful and difficult questions about the text. She teaches but you have to be willing to particpate in lecture. Quizes are hard and she grades them strictly. Easier grader on essays (2) which are big parts of your grade.
FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DONT TAKE THIS CLASS. If you think you have ever been bored or wasted time in class before, you have not been to her class.. I learned absolutely nothing but her interpretations (she brings sex up about EVERY story, dont know where she gets it??) and if you think you are right, UR NOT she is always right. just remember that..
I have never been more bored in class than in this one, and I blame it on the professor. The lectures are confusing and last forever, and she never lets you out early. I would never take a class taught by her again.
Her class is actually very easy, all you gotta do is read the books she assigns. Her quizzes are very simple and worth 100 easy points. She is a hard grader on the 2 papers, but as long as you go to her office hours and have her edit it you will do fine. I got an A- with very little effort

She is a horrible vindictive awful professor. She only wants you to regurgitate her opinions. If she doesn't like you she docks you in participation despite the fact that you participated a ton. She plays favorites and the subjectivity of English grades really comes into play because she docks little random points to be mean.
I had read all the postings about her and thought to myself, how bad can she be. little did i know each lecture would be UNBEARABLY boring!she overloads you with psychological info YOU DONT NEED,She doesn't come up with any original ideas of her own,doesn't like students having their own opinions & ruined a really interesting class :(((
She doesn't care about anyone else's opinions and is sooo boring. She doesn't grade you on effort or on quality of work, but rather on whether she likes you or not. Especially, in the area of participation. It doesn't matter how much you participate if she doens't like you or what you say.
Not a terrible teacher, but not outstanding either. She is a little on the quiet side and has a monotone, so she doesn't appear particularly interested. Lots of readings, and be sure EVERYONE participates or else there are reading quizzes. I can't comment on grading yet, but right now she's not someone I would trash OR praise.
A good-natured person who looks out for her students' well-being. She's more than willing to help during office hours, and this goes a long way - as her lectures can be dragged out and long-winded. Her grading on papers can be demanding and specific, so it helps to pay close attention to what she's looking for via class discussions/review.
Dr. Bogdanou is a very straight-forward person when it comes to what she wants from her writing. There is a lot of reading, 1 pg. paper due every week, two 5-pg. papers, 1 presentation, and an 8-10 pg. paper as your final. Overall a VERY interesting class if you are at all interested in what it means to be a moral person.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. t it was the most boring class i ever took. going to class ruined my day and it was a struggle to make myself go. she is really intimidating and not friendly. she cuts you off when you speak or checks her watch after she calls on you and seems completely uninterested in anything you have to say. she rips your essay apart.
DO NOT take this class. The worst class I have taken at LMU. The entire class is unmotivated, there is no discussion, I dread every class. UPSET
A lot of the students are saying that her class is very boring & that she is a tough grader. Honestly, she is just very specific about what she wants. I found her class to very engaging. But you will only really benefit from the class if you participate and give your own opinions. If you come in with a bad mentality, you won't gain anything.
The class is mostly discussion. There are a lot of writing assignments, but she doesn't grade them too hard. If you participate and speak your opinions, you will do well. Her attendance policy is pretty relaxed.
Worst class I have ever taken. Boring as hell and her monotone accent becomes nails on a chalkboard. Gives you the meanest condescending glare and makes you feel so stupid when you try to participate. Tears your writing apart and tough grader. You have to read and write an inhumane amount. Please, save yourself and do not take this torture.
Honestly one of the worst classes I've taken, very one-sided opinion wise, and it's very hard to go against what she says without feeling like it's (or without it actually) effecting your grade. Highly recommend you find another class to take... sorry but I hate my whole semester because of this class.
She discourages the discussion that occurs in class because it isn't 'academic' enough
Avoid her at all costs! She is hard to understand. The class is supposed to be discussion based, but she discourages any students who's contributions don't exhibit a "close reading of the text". She assigns an impossible amount of writing and grades students poorly because their views don't exactly align with her's.
I have no clue why there are so many negative reviews. If you are passionate about the topic, you'll love the class. There is A LOT of reading, but I'm grateful for it, as I learned a lot. She is a bit nit picky with essays, but still gives out a good grade. I liked the class discussions and texts. She always encourages us to share our thoughts.
She's very hard to understand and very demanding. Even if she gives you the opportunity to revise at the end, there's a low chance you'll get a higher grade. Tons of reading, very strict with papers, very tough grader
She is the best professor I've had so far. She is a very easy grader, you pretty much just have to do your homework and go to class. I never went to office hours and still got an A. And most of the people I knew from class also got an A. She lets you choose whatever you want to write about. She is NOT hard to understand, she is actually so smart!
Professor Bogdanou is very knowledgeable in her field. It is only a good class to take if you are interested in the subject. She makes you think and work very hard but I do feel as if I have learned something. 5 one page reading responses, 5 current events, one presentation, a midterm, and a final.
Bogdanou is a very tough teacher that asks for participation, yet when you speak she usually will correct you unless it aligns with her beliefs. There is a 7 page midterm essay, 10 page final essay, and reading every night. The one good thing was all of the quizzes were online. She gives good feedback on essays, and is a pretty easy grader as well.
I might be biased because I had her during a study abroad program in Greece, but she was the most patient, reasonable professor I've ever had. She made the topic of Modern Greek history so interesting and easy to understand. The only thing is I was a little unclear with some of the deadlines, but all in all I enjoyed the class.
Really awesome professor, though do not take if you arent interested in the subject. There is a lot of work involved but she is one of my favorite professors I had. She is really kind and understanding and while demanding, youll learn a ton from her.
I have never been forced to read this much, ever. Every reading is about 50 pages long, and sometimes we've had readings that are over 200 pages assigned Tuesday due Thursday. Its honestly a ridiculous amount of reading. Honestly if we didnt have reading quizzes due before every single class, I probably wouldnt read at all. Shes super nice though.
I have never felt less of a connection to course material or had more boring lectures. 1-2 papers due every week on 100+ pages of reading, all of class is just discussion for the pages no one read, and it's straight awful.
Honestly went into this class with decent hopes and tried to ignore the previous poor ratings, but it's just horrendous. Awful, long, and nonsensical readings that must be completed each class that requires significant reflections posted each week. Her dull lectures spanned the entire class and the information is useless.
Took a subject that could have been interesting and made it boring. She says she's been teaching for twenty plus years and it's clear that in that time she hasn't changed her routine at all. Really hard grader and an insane amount of reading. Super disorganized and changes the syllabus in confusing ways. Textbooks weren't in the bookstore.
She is an amazing professor!!! She is so sweet and kind, and, if you put in the work, shell give you the grade you deserve. The readings were really long and hard to understand, but as long as you have study groups and reach out to her when you need help youll be good. Also, make sure to expand your analysis on her writing assignments!!
Dear lord. I thought first-year seminar was going to be a good class. This was awful. I took "Greek storytelling" expecting to read about greek gods and such, but it was solely about greek nationalism and culture. She is very greek, it was tough with her accent. She was SO TOUGH on grading and the content was far beyond boring. The class was rough.
Do not take this class unless you are a history buff. She is a great professor, but there is a lot of work involved and I would caution anyone not passionate about history and current events to take this class.

Office hours easy to navigate, especially for a fully-online setting. I did go into this class having higher expectations, however. I thought it would be more interactive and project-based, like my Rhetorical Arts class was, but it was very lecture heavy. It felt more passive, getting lectured, then writing and doing quizzes on it. Hard grader.
Worst class ive taken here. expected a course on greek mythology. WRONG. about modern greek history in the last 200 years. discussion posts and quizzes every week and the longest most nonsense readings possible. ONLY TAKE IF U WANT A HISTORY CLASS. do not recommend. thick accent as well abs hearing impairment makes communication difficult
She gives A LOT of readings. Be prepared! In general, there is a lot of homework! She is a good person but a very tough professor, her class is difficult and she is a very harsh grader. I never understood what was good enough for her. Take her class at your own risk
She will accuse you of cheating for your essays with out any reasonable evidence ,Target you and pick on you. She doesn't explain the class well with her accent. She lies a lot as well I would not recommend this class to anyone at all. DO NOT TAKE IT! I DONT KNOW WHY I PICKED HER CLASS AFTER SEEING HER RATING. 2.0 OUT OF 5 IS VERY LOW.
I had a very hard time in the class, Beware she isn't that patient with students at all. I think LMU should reconsider her as a professor here at lmu. Needs to be retrained !
She would assign 60+ length paged readings nightly of old Greek texts that were incomprehensible and get angry at the class if we struggled to understand, and long discussion board posts nightly. Her lectures were very boring and confusing. Extremely harsh grader for all essays and projects and never truly clear why.
If you are interested in the subject, you will love this class. There's a ton of reading, but I loved everything we learned. One of the only classes that has real life applications. She cares about the students' analyzes and opinions. She also allows you to skip class if the info is triggering, which I really appreciate. Very accessible and kind.

she is very bitter towards students with little to no empathy. assigns so much reading, will give writing assignments but not post the prompts until the night before its due. lectures are very long and boring. cold calls on students a lot. office hours are not accommodating and very hard to work with. harsh grader with no reasoning of why.
