Very nice Prof. She is very helpfull and alwys there to help.
She is so horrible and teaching. she really does try and wants to help, but the book is so much better than her. the clicker quizzes are some dumb and not really helpful.
She uses the blackboard to explain almost every equation. I do like her. The exam is much easier than homework. It's not hard to get a good grade.
She really does want to help her students learn, but this class is a real pain. All the homework is online and she usually had them due before she teaches the material which is frustrating. The in-class clicker quizzes are annoying too. The tests generally arn't too hard if you do the practice exams.
She is horrible, and expects you to know this stuff already. Also she will go through things very fast when a test is coming up and doesn't thoroughly teach it right. Also she has messed up on problems quite a bit. Her accent is hard to understand. Overall she is a horrible teacher and I would not recommend her to anyone!!!
We just had a test, and let me tell you she crammed chapter 8 in with a few slides the lecture before the test. Also she put up a study guide unless than 24 hours. She is the worst professor by far and I feel sorry for anyone who has to have her. She also always messes up teaching and has to reteach it to us. Yeah awesome teacher.. not! :(
Horrible! Unlike other good teachers who curve, she won't. The final is hard and it's even harder because she doesn't teach well at all so good luck if she's your teacher. I'm very angry about my final exam test because all of my other tests are A's while this is a B so my final grade will be like 89% and she won't curve up so it will be a B.
The worst chemistry professor by far. Not clear, and not helpful. Don't take chem 163 with her or you'll do really bad.
I thought her class was completely fair. You have to pay attention and do the practice problems she gives you, but if you do, you'll be fine. She was always willing to talk about questions that the class had. I didn't have much trouble with her accent either. I thought she was a good teacher and I enjoyed the class.
All around not a bad professor at all and even easy on the eyes.
Basically gives you the answers to in class questions. Explains contents well and answers any questions you have. Go to class and you'll be fine. Even if you don't the tests are pretty easy.
Go to class because of clicker question. overall, not a hard class. Make sure to stay on top of whats going on, its easy to fall behind. First two tests are easy.
Her powerpoints are kind of worthless but if you pay attention to what she is saying the concepts are easy to grasp. Her accent is hard to understand sometimes but she tries hard to be understood.
She told some good jokes to try to make class better.
Easy to understand her Italian Accent. Made me laugh couple times in class. Good Professor, although I would recommend you taking this class with the Head Professor Dr. Greenbowe because he tells his students what is going to be in the tests
I took accel chem in high school so this class was pretty easy. She is pretty "easy" teacher/grader, in terms of in class questions and tests. Downside, she really bored me. This is her only class, and she is at the university to do research, so teaching is not her best skill.
She's OK.
Yes, her Italian accent is hard to understand, but you get used to it. Don't pack up early or else she'll get upset and not lecture about the last thing in her plan that might be a big topic that's on the test. There's a clicker quiz each day. Lots of fun demos. You watch Disney movies before each lecture. READ THE BOOK.
Professor Bonaccorsi is a very nice woman and very intelligent, but I found her lectures to be very boring. Homework is only once a week, but you have to go to class to get clicker points. Overall not a difficult class but you still have to try and go to class.
Lectures were often boring, but she did show Disney movies before each lecture which gave me motivation to show up. She is knowledgeable on the subject and knows how to explain the material in a way that students understand.
Great professor, knows her stuff, and the class is fairly easy as long as you pay attention. The material is covered thoroughly and she will answer any question you have.
It's not an easy class, but she really does her best to give you relevant information, and takes time to go through the tougher math problems. Typically offers some sort of make up exam or way to make up for a bad grade or two. Of the three 178 lecturers, this is the one you want.
Professor Bonaccorsi is a very intelligent person and really wants students to do well. If you reach out and ask her for help, she is more than willing to help you. She does a good job of explaining concepts and gives lots of example problems in class. Overall, great professor!
Kinda hard to understand her
Dr. Bonaccorsi is a really good teacher and she is really good at explaining if you have any doubts. She goes over a lot of examples, to make sure everyone is understanding what we are doing. Here tests are not bad, as long as you study previews tests, which are somewhat similar. She is not amazing, but she is definitely a decent teacher.
She makes chemistry interesting. Jokes around with the full 400 student lecture. Does as many demos as possible, including blowing up balloons every other week. Overall great class and I highly suggest taking this class with her.
She really cares, almost always has a demo
Her accent is great, could listen to her talk all day, but it;s still very clear to understand her. She keeps everything very organized and has tons of resources posted on blackboard. Just go to lectures and pay attention and you'll be fine.
Her accent is great, could listen to her talk all day, but it's still very clear to understand her. She keeps everything very organized and has tons of resources posted on blackboard. Just go to lectures and pay attention and you'll be fine.
She would show Disney movies 10 minutes before lecture. She was a good teacher and easier to understand than the other 167 professor. Makes jokes and does a lot of in class experiments. Great course, though the lab sucks. I enjoyed this class. Easy A if you do the work. Exams are all multiple choice.
If you understood 176 decently then 177 is going to be a breeze. She over explains everything. Tests can be a little hard at times because she over explains the easy stuff.
Bonaccorsi's class was relatively straightforward - go to lecture for clickers, do assigned homework and quizzes and answer 70% conceptual questions on the tests. I found the tests easy and straightforward. The final was hyped up but most of us finished with half the time to spare as it was mostly concepts. Relatively easy class.
Solid class overall. Like mentioned, very straight forward. Show up, do the homework, take the tests. Nothing overtaxing, nothing extra. If you got through 177 you'll be fine in 178 with her. She's a pretty good lecturer, keeps our interest and tells you what you need to know. Old exams really help. Fairly easy but not really any curve.
Christina is an decent teacher. The lectures are boring enough. Clickers every day. The material is moved through very slowly. Go through her slides to study for tests. There is a small amount of material to master for each test.
Bonaccorsi is a great professor. Very straightforward. Explains every topic very thoroughly. You get extra credit for each online homework assignment you score above 90% on. Tests are very easy and she takes questions directly off the practice tests she posts online. If you can get in her section for any chem class, I would recommend it.
She has a slight Italian accent but is very understandable. She makes class enjoyable and she is really nice. Great professor.
Great professor. Clear on the subject matter. She is kind of a goof and messes up demos often, but its all in good fun. Offer plenty of extra credit and makes it extremely easy to get an A in the course. 75% of the finals questions were straight off the first three exams.
She is an awesome teacher, one of my favorites that I've had so far. cares about students and is engaging in class as best she can be in a lecture hall environment.
She's Italian, has a cool accent, is goofy, and likes to blow stuff up. Her lectures are easy to follow, she makes sure people get what she is talking about, it can get pretty boring especially in a 400 person lecture, but she tries to keep you engaged and it works for the most part. Use the past exams online. almost the same thing.
The grading criteria is very clear. Homework and tests are fair. She does a really good job explaining and keeping the class engaging, even with 400 student. Would recommend.
If chemistry isn't your strongest subject, be prepared to do a TON of work for this class. She makes a few concepts hard and confusing to understand. She makes so many little mistakes during lectures when doing example problems. I found my tutor and TA more helpful than her. Otherwise, if you put in the work you should be able to pass the class.
Clear, concise, and easy of draw information from.
Tough first college class. Learn to study for this class because the first test was 3 weeks in. She's an ok teacher. She covers very general concepts compared to whats on the quizzes. Always expect to see something on the tests that you know nothing about and you're expected to use your "applied knowledge".
Dr. Bonaccorsi explains the material very well as long as you pay attention in lecture. She also wants to make sure her students understand the material. She utilizes top hat for attendance and participation points so skipping class is not a good idea.
Italian accent, kinda hot. Easy to understand and breaks material down well. Doesnt go too fast and cares about students. A+
This class was pretty easy if you went to lecture each day. She did a good job explaining how each concept works and takes her time to explain the content. The quizzes were easy pts. She also gave points for answering tophat questions. She gave 0.5 points for trying and 0.5 points for the answer. If you got 75% of the points, she gave 100% of pts.
One of the best professors that I've had so far. Gives a lot of opportunities to get points and extra credit. Her tests were also straight forward.
Bonacorsi made Chemistry actually interesting. She makes class interesting and loves to do demonstrations. She also gives plenty of opportunity for extra credit. The tests were hard, but the final exam had questions that were previously on the unit tests.
Bonaccorsi was great. She made it clear what was expected to get an A so if you worked for it, it was possible. All of the slides were uploaded, and past tests, which were SUPER similar to the tests from this year. If you did the homework and did the practice tests, you probably got a good grade and learned a lot.
Bonaccorsi's lectures are interesting (and she's got a cool accent), and she often does demos and Top Hat questions to break up the lecture and keep everyone engaged. The tests and homework aren't very hard. If you go to class and study for tests, you shouldn't have much trouble with this class.
We watched Toy Story for the first ten mins of every class. She is awesome but the class tough. You definitely want her, she does a lot of cool demonstrations in class too which kept it interesting.
Good personality that comes through making lectures more easy to follow, even in a lecture hall of a couple hundred. Clear with what you need to know to pass.
Not a bad experience with her for me.
Christina is a great professor. Be very sure to do the homework right as you get them as they are long and sometimes hard. But if you pay attention, take notes, you will do fine in the class.
If you're taking Chem167 it doesn't matter which professor you are taking it with besides for lectures. All of the professors use the same blackboard page and will have the same exams and quizzes. Expect a fair amount of homework, quizzes, and TopHat questions. If you read the book ahead of time nothing said during the lecture will be new to you.
Bonaccorsi was a great professor. I came into the class thinking it would be awful, but she made the class much better. She has great PowerPoints and breaks up the class with TopHat questions. You can tell that she loves chemistry and knows what she is doing. Also, she is Italian and has a great accent (but still understandable).
Her accent is a little tough. Grading is clear. Compared to other professors, her class is better to take.
Her course was like taking a course with your mom as a teacher.
Prof. Bonaccorsi is very gifted when it comes to chemistry. She explains everything in a way that someone who is just beginning will be able to grasp it. One thing is she is not great at keeping her lectures in check sometimes and it gets kind of loud so I would recommend sitting near the front. She also follows her syllabus exactly as written.
Christina has, by far, has the best lectures. You likely won't be bored, plus she does some really cool demos throughout the semester. The class itself is really straight forward; go to lecture, read, do the homework, and you'll definitely pass. The concepts get a little complicated, but put in the effort and you'll succeed no problem.
Great teacher for Chem 167. Lectures where clear and went over all the material that was covered on exams. Take Recitation assignments seriously sense that is the material that will show up again on exams.
Lectures are the best way to learn for her. She is a very good lecturer, but her material is almost straight out of the book which meant that I didn't read it that much. Attendance is mandatory, but lectures are fairly interesting.
Dr. Bonaccorsci is very clear in her expectations, and is a good lecturer. Her lectures were very reflective of what was going to be on the homework/tests.
Just Had my first class. I didn't listen anything she was saying cause she is insanely pretty. She also has a cute accent. Or maybe, I found her accent cute b/c she is pretty.
Helpful and detailed lectures, but they can sometimes be very confusing and the graded Top Hat questions can be somewhat vague. The homework she assigns also frequently does not line up with what was learned in class that week. For example, we've had several concepts on homework that we didn't learn until the week after the due date.
In a lecture hall of almost 400 students, Christina did a fantastic job of keeping the lectures fun and engaging. Almost all of the content covered could be prior knowledge if you had a good chem teacher in high school. She has Top Hat every class and is VERY generous in the assignments and homework that is dropped. I would strongly recommend her.
Weekly homework takes a while. Lectures are pretty straightforward, the Italian accent was not an issue. She had a tendency to rush a few topics towards the end. I highly recommend reading the txtbk ch. before class. Most important thing is to stay on top of the topics, the last thing you want to do in this class is be confused/behind on topics.
Dr. Bonaccorsi is a great chemistry teacher and knows what shes talking about, shes there to teach students and answer any questions after class, quizzes/exams can be difficult and there is no curve. Top Hat questions during class strongly suggested you should show up.
She's a very good professor. Very passionate about the subject. Her lectures go very in depth because she fully explains every formula, theory, etc. Even when the students only need to know how to plug the numbers into the formula. HW can be frusturating because the website looks and runs like an early 2000s site.
Dr. Bonaccorsi is knowledgeable about the Chemistry she is lecturing on, but her explanations aren't always well received by the class, in fact, I would say my recitation leader did a better job at explaining some topics. Furthermore, her accent may be an acquired taste for some, but give it a week and you will get used to it.
Easy to understand with an accent. kinda boring, will make you want to skip every once in a while.
I LOVE THIS PROF! She really is AMAZING. She explained things clearly and when they were unclear she took the time to sit down and explain it until it made sense. She is the best professor in the chemistry department in my opinion.
Dr. Bona was one of the best chemistry professors I've ever had. During my semester we were able to use a periodic table with notes written on it for all of our exams, including the final. Our final exam grade could replace our worst score (if it was higher than exams). She explains topics well, and makes chemistry somewhat fun. 10/10 recommend.
Very nice and understanding. She would frequently go over exam/quiz example questions in lectures. The section size was fairly large (400+), so it was much easier to receive individual help in the recitations. I did not use the textbook, but a code was needed to use the online homework portal.
Great professor. Straightforward class if you go to class, do the homework, and make a good note sheet for the exams. Always available for help before and after class. Enjoy the class, because in the engineering program, professors like her are few in number.
Does a good job, but way over explains some things.
She is a really nice person except sadly she is a bad professor. Nothing against her personally it's just she doesn't teach well.
She tests on stuff she doesnt lecture about
What made this class difficult was the during lectures. I swear I was falling asleep every single time. I hated going to this class and I really hated that in a lecture of 400 people she was taking attendance :l
This course with Bonaccorsi is pretty much made for engineering majors to pass. You only have to go to 75% of the classes to get a 100% Top Hat Score, she posts both her powerpoint and a recorded lecture on Canvas, so you can follow along during class and take better notes, or just skip and go through the video. She goes over practice problems too!
She uses Top Hat quizzes in class sometimes, so attendance is mandatory. Sometimes, she goes a bit too fast through her slides. Other than that, she is an amazing professor. Her lectures are precise, and her slides are the only thing you need for exams. Great for CHEM 167.
Pacing is too fast to accurately take notes on paper during lectures. If you want to understand everything in a lecture, take notes from slides beforehand on your own time. Very enthusiastic to teach, but her accent is so thick that it's hard to understand everything. Due to this, lectures are only helpful for clarification and Tophat points.
Top Hat counts as a grade, so lectures do have some importance. She tends to over-explain unimportant things, which can be confusing. I recommend previewing the lecture slides beforehand. If you dislike large lectures, make sure to ask questions during recitation. She's very knowledgeable and enthusiastic.
I liked her personality but I strongly disliked her teaching style. She went way too fast and I had no idea what was going on the entire time to be honest.
Bonaccorsi is an excellent teacher! She may be a little fast-paced at times, but if you say something she will go over it again to make sure everyone understands everything. I wouldn't have wanted any other professor.
She very kind and genuine. Would retake her classes. You get a periodic table that you can write on for exams and quizzes. And quizzes are group quizzes. She is a very kind professor.
Dr. Bonaccorsi was amazing! I had taken this course in the past with a different professor and I hated how he taught Chemistry but Dr. B made the tough material easy to understand. Would highly recommend going to the SI sessions because that helped me a ton with any material I didn't quite understand. Overall, loved how she taught 177.
Just a class you need to get through. Decently easy class due to the periodic table you can write notes on. Boring lectures
She did a really good job at making lectures interesting, there were lots of experiments or demos! The tests were in general easy if you studied the practice exams. She is very understanding and there are lots of drops which help your grade!
Incredible lecturer. She makes the lecture more entertaining with little one liners and jokes here and there, but as long as you take halfway decent notes and pay attention to objectively, borderline entertaining lectures, you'll be fine in this class. Excellent professor and personality!
She seems to be a nice person who cares about her students' success. However, she flies through the lectures at breakneck speed, so it's really hard to take notes without losing your bearings. I found it was much easier to watch the recorded lectures.
She as very nice and her accent does not affect comprehension at all. Her lectures were a little bit fast but as long as you attend them regularly you should do pretty well. I would definitely take a class taught by her again. Make sure to complete all the homework assignments so you have more room to breathe on exams.
This professor is so great! Made theories easier to understand and made class fun with experiments every so often. She made the class welcoming and always gave us constant reminders on due dates and overall, such a great time in this class.
Excellent professor. Class content isnt too fast paced and is generally easy for most to understand. Exams are doable and extra credit is possible. Your final exam can replace one of your three lowest midterm exams. A great person overall.
Fantastic lecturer for a class that's mostly conceptual. Nothing like a long week of classes and hearing that Italian accent say that we're going to light something on fire in lecture.
Dr. Bonaccorsi is very kind and always excited to teach what she does. She does read through the PowerPoint quickly, so I would recommend having the PowerPoint open on a computer or tablet so you can take notes. Overall her class is pretty straightforward and not too difficult since she does drop a few bad scores to help your grade.
Great professor that makes the class enjoyable with demonstrations and real-life applications. Show up to class and take notes and you should be fine on the exams.
Amazing professor, she really cares about students, she's very flexible in everything and she offers amazing lectures.
She was a great professor who was always there for you in office hours and gave amazing lectures. She was super nice and helpful. The same cannot be said for the TA.
A great professor who made learning Chemistry all the more bearable. Her lectures are not mandatory to attend, but I felt like they were worth going to, since she does a good job explaining, and we do some in-class exercises as well. She is also happy to help you after the lectures. But beware, the TAs for this class are awful, aside from a few.
Absolutely magnificent to put it into simplest terms. She speaks clearly and explains clearly. When she introduces a hard topic she gives it to us in the hardest form then slowly dissects it and feeds us the material extremely well. She gives the class questions and goes over them afterward, telling us why each choice was right or wrong.
Christina's lectures were very information-packed and dense. This made it very hard for her to explain every subject properly in the course. However, explaining group theory and crystal structures in a 2-credit class is extremely difficult, so I will give her the benefit of the doubt. She breaks down topics the best she possibly can.
Honestly an amazing professor, you can tell she actually cares for her students as well as they way people see her. Her lectures are very heavy with material but she thoroughly goes through what she's trying to teach. While lecture is not mandatory it is easier to learn when you attend. I would take every chem class I have with her.
Lectures go over a lot of content, but she does her best to explain it all. She records her lectures as well in case you are sick or whatnot. She genuinely cares for her students, and she makes it clear. She wants everyone to succeed as well.
She was a very nice professor! She always asked if we had any questions, and the day of exams, we had a Q&A day/review day, which you rarely find with other professors. She also did very well with not just using her slides to teach, she worked through every problem in class and had some fun demonstrations.
