Allows you to submit second drafts of essays in order to boost your score. A quiz here and there. Several essays (though it IS an English course). Generally nice and always on the point. Down to business.
nice teacher and understanding.
she gives several essays but not too hard. she allows students to revise it 3 times. not too hard if u do the work. her class maybe a little boring time to time but she loves what she does. few quizzes but easy.

She is unbelievable! She drives all her students mad. A very harsh grader. If you don't write according to her criteria you're screwed. She doesn't like creative writing, but likes the way we use to write in high school.Trust me don't take her!
I'm speehless about her...(and not in a good way). She's very adament in what she wants, so if you do something creative for your essays or not follow her style, she tends to butcher your papers. I can't recommend her to others.. that'll be too cruel
She's an okay professor but se ends to give too much boring readings that can be confusing to understand. Not a very harsh grader since I never got anything lower than a B+. You need to be an active participant. There's a final and a few in class essays.
She's Okay. Not a very harsh grader. IN class assignments, which you have no time to finish, but lets you revise everything. The reading can be difficult, but it's not all that bad. She's nice...
shes your average teacher...easy class if you try hard enough..sometimes discusses dumb topics..
very boring class, her grading is terrible, dont ever be late to her class,3 papers,3 quiz and 1 final. A lot reading too
She does give a lot of work but is a fair grader and lets you revise as many essays you have.
if u do the in class essay participate then ull get the grade thats pretty much it
Very good teacher, clear and halpful.
At first, she's tough but when it comes to the final grades, she's lenient. I didn't expect to receive an A- due to her grading standards but pulled it off since I worked conscientiously on my essays. Note how all English professors will give lots of work
she gives a lot of work but all english profs do. summer session she wont let you relax, atleast one essay a week about 6 essays end of session, allows you to correct essays, i'm satisfied with my grade: a-, in class essays was a pain, take her!
very nice and personable... i loved her class if u do the readings and pay attention could be very interesting class... exams are tough but fair. Take her.
She's not not bad in contrast to some of the othere English professors. She just wants everyone to work hard for comprehension and knowledge. However, it's true that she gives lots of essay-writing but it's for your own good. Take her if you love English.
I loved her, she is such a nice teacher, and the course material was interesting to me. The thing to remember about her though is that she rewards hard work. Also participate, and ask smart questions. i wish i could take her again.
The best teacher Ive had at Baruch. Enjoyed the class eventhough i hated writing. Do your work and you will be appreciated.
She is very fair. She teaches well and tries to help students as best she can. She does push you and rewards hard work. She is also fairly strict with attendance but overall she is an excellent professor.
If you like to read, she is really interesting. A conventional lit class, a lot of group work, two essays, midterm, final, project. Lots of work, but at the end its all worth it. Very interesting class discussions: you won't be bored.
Very smart Prof. enthusiastic about the material, willing to listen - she encourages students to come talk to her outside of class about their writing and lit. Very fair prof. I am taking another class with her next semester.
She is a very good and nice professor. She is willing to help students outside of class and she gives good feedbacks on how to revise your essay. I really like her a lot. I would definitely take her again for English. Fair grading and gives you opportunity to makeup your work.
She is a very helpful professor; willing to help you outside of class. Her feedbacks on the essays are very helpful: it helps you do better on the next one because you know what she is expecting. She gives you an opportunity to bring up your grade: revisions and drafts. I would take her over again!!
ALOT of work! very nice and understanding as a person, fair grader. If you take her, get ready for lots of essays.
This was on of my most memorable classes. She is very knowledegeable, helpful and clear in the classroom. Cool professor who loves her stuff and cares about her students. Deff take her.
She is so dedicated to her subject and in making the class interested in the reading. There are a lot of reading assignments but if you keep up you will be okay. She is sweet and very helpful especially if you get frustrated or overwhelmed
It's hard to say what she cares about more -- Medeval lit. or her students. But she loves both very much. She LOVES the material and is passionate about it. She cares that YOU care. She gives GREAT lectures. Her papers are not EASY but she rewards hard work. Great class. Superb professor.
She may be intimidating at first, but she softens up near the end. You'll end up learning a lot from her class. Do the revisions, your grade will benefit vastly. My writing greatly improved.
Great professor! She is very respectful towards her student and helps each student out any way she can. She wants each of her students to learn and tries her best to reach out to everyone. I learned a lot in her class.
A very great professor. Very understanding and nice. Fair grader and makes the class exteremly interesting. Gives room for imrpovement. Is very passionate about her courses. I would take her class over and over if I could.

i didnt not like this class at all. The prof. fell behind on the syllabus and we had to catch up. Stresses for students to be critical over and over and over. If you are going to major in english this is the teacher you should be taking because she really reads between the lines.
Extremely nice, intelligent, and helpful. Amazing at analyzing your writing and giving great detail on how to improve your analysis and expression. Very down to Earth person and unlike any other professor I've had. Take her if you can, you wont regret it.
Challenging class, great professor. Rewards hard work.
Tough at times but well worth it. Loved the literature and actually learned a lot. I'd take her aagin.
Appears to be nice, but is very critical and demeaning. Shows favoritism and compares students to each other during class. Is unclear about what she wants. When students ask for clarity she repeats the same thing she said previously, which they did not understand. Very picky about essays, though she gives you a chance to rewrite them.
One of the most interesting classes I've taken. The lit. was really engaging and the professor great at presenting it. Fair and engaging. Allows revisions and helps a lot outside of class.
I enjoyed her class so much! She encourages you to talk a lot in class, and enjoys hearing from her students. Her grading can be tough but allowing you to rewrite it will boost your grade. Always available to help outside of class, answers emails quickly, but takes a long time to return papers.
nice teacher. hard essay topics but she lets you re-write them as much as you want until you get the grade you want. One group presentation pretty common sence and self explanatory. group project is on one of the literary works that you will read in class pior, attendance is mandatory thou!!! you have to go!!! she gets very upset if you miss alot o
The lit, was a challenge but the prof. was enthusiastic and generated interest. 3 Papers and a panel presentation. Revisions were allowed and grading was fair.
SHE IS REALLY ENTHUSIASTIC ABOUT THE MATERIAL AND SHE EXPECTS THE STUDENTS TO BE JUST AS ENTHUSIASTIC. DISCUSSIONS CAN BE GREAT IF YOU ARE PREPARED AND CAN UNDERSTAND WHAT SHE IS ASKING. SHE REALLY MAKES U PUT UR BRAIN TO WORK. REALLY HARD GRADER AND SHE SEES EVERY MISTAKE. I THINK SHE WANTS US TO TALK AND WRITE IN HER LANGUAGE.
Got an A in the course- Material seems overwhelming at times but she is a fair grader and it is possible to do good in her class if you just apply yourself.
Challenging teacher, but you learn a lot from her. At least 3 major papers (expect a lot of critique), but if you pay attention to the discussion, they're easy - just long. Speak up, put effort into writing, and you should be fine.
3 Papers and a panel presentation. Revisions were allowed but return the paper too late so we dont have time to do it all. SO CRITICAL ON ESSAY, I GO THOUGH WRITING CENTER AND SACC BOTH AND SHE STILL GIVES ME BAD GRADE!DONT BE FOOL BY RATE MYPROFESSOR ... IT RUINS MY GPA=_=CLASS AVG IS C+/B-
When I signed up for her chaucer class i was so nervous because...it's CHAUCER! But the class was not as intense as i thought it would be- which is good because it left room for me to understand what i was reading. She's really sweet and soft-spoken- she doesn't yell much, She gives 3-4 papers and a group presentation. Participation is still though
Intelligent, cares about her students and takes their writing seriously. Will take her again.
do not take her if you want to pass with at lest a B grade. she is bad, still today i have no idea why i scored my grade. never hands essay on time, she critizes every word you write and she never tells you why she gave that grade. in general if you want to score a decent grade run away from her.
knows her material...very critical...must stay alert n read the txt everyday....1 paper n final....but again very critical and she doesnt like it if u dont participate....
She's very passionate about her subject and LOVES to discuss the material. She talks way too much, and often interrupts students when they are participating. She is nice, though, and you WILL learn A LOT from her. The reading materials were all very interesting and challenge you intellectually.
Useless professor. When you write a paper, she will criticize every last word, she will correct things that are properly written. She gets mad quickly, and gets upset if you don't like to participate. Overly critical, interrupts people when they speak and just plain BAD.
Very intelligent prof. who will help you with your writing and communication skills. Interesting discussions and challenging literature.
Professor Christoforatou is actually a very intelligent woman. Her class is challenging but sometimes she is overly tedious and the criticisms she gives are sometimes unnecessary. You can actually receive a good grade if you PARTICIPATE a lot. All English teachers are somewhat biased, and if she likes you you're going to get an above average grade
She a good professor. Just do what she says and you'll be fine. Get behind on the syllabus though. Have to do sooo much work at the end
Please ignore the slackers. She is an excellent professor. It is her job to criticize your every word, and she does it very well. She gives back helpful feedback that helps you write more coherent papers. Take her if you want to improve your writing. This is NOT an easy class and she expects a lot from you, but I guarantee you'll learn with her.
we had 2 papers and then 3 in the last two weeks (1 normal paper, 2 papers for the final 1 in class, 1 outclass), gives papers back after a month you write them, if u re write you will go a grade higher, participation is the key, she wants you to engage the material..if u participate u will do well
Challenging, and will critique every part of your essays. Gets behind on the syllabus so that you have a lot of work to do at the end of the semester. Just participate a lot and she'll like you, and give you better grades because of it. Overall, very challenging but not too bad.
I had her for Medieval Lit and Chaucer. She will challenge you intellectually and you will be looking forward to it. Fascinating discussions and great lit. Three papers, a presentation of a topic of your choice and a paper. No midterm.
Great teacher. Not easy but certainly worth your while.
She is nice, but the hardest and rudest professor i have ever seen, she doesn't give the student a chance to talk and she comment on every space of your essay. she is also a very hard grader, but she gives you a chance to rewrite it. but overall a very hard professor, and she has very very very high expectation for her students!
Great Teacher. Had an honors course with her (ENH 2800H). I learned a lot and would take her again.
you can rewrite essay, quiz is very hard.
I would have received an A if I wasn't late and rewrote my essays. She gives you a chance to re-write all the reaction papers and research papers you submit (3). She was very helpfull and always willing to meet to discuss the subject. I couldn't ask for a better morning class she is an expert in medieval literature. Will take her again for sure!!!
Exciting lit, demanding assignments, but grading is fair. Will learn,
Really good professor, likes to talk her guts out and will interrupt you during your presentation to talk a good 10 minutes, overall extremely helpful professor, lets you revise your paper without deadlines as many times as you want but watch out for the final its cumulative!
Class room discussions are extremely boring. She has a final for this class, and you have to write 2 papers in basically 2 hours, without knowing what the prompt is before hand. You must also include in text citations as well. Get ready to fall asleep in her boring class.
She is a hard but a very helpful prof. She will give you a grade on your papers but the final grade may turn out to be totally different from what u get in the presentation & papers (3). I enjoyed her class though.
She is one of the most respectable professors I've ever had. Yes, the material is difficult and the essay prompts seem overwhelming, but she gives you an opportunity to revise and resubmit all papers. I was truly captivated by almost all of her lectures. She is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about all of the topics we discussed in class.
I took her for Chaucer 4120, she is a real hard grader--I got nothing but B's on her papers. But she is really passionate about what she teaches. She actually made me quite fond of Chaucer, I got an A- but I had to work for it real hard. POST on the blogs--it helps with final grading. 3 papers, and one final--it was super easy.
She is a really nice person, but lectures are boring. 1 quiz, 3 papers, and 1 group project. Even though, I didn't read all the readings, I got an B+.
I enjoyed Chaucer and had the chance to revise my papers which helped with the final grade.
Solid professor. Read, participate and revise your papers.
I had prof. christaforatou for great works and it was an experience. I learnt a lot from the lectures and I appreciated the opportunity to revise the papers. She is fair and gives good feedback on your writing. If you are not ready to read and learn something new, take someone else.
The professor is very tough on grading. Doesn't go over essay prompts unless you ask. Avoids the questions about the final. Have to be prepared for the very first day you walk in and if you don't read and participate she gives pop quizzes. Honestly, if you want a good GPA AVOID her. After the first week half of the class dropped. READ!!!!
Professor Christoforatou is sweet, understanding and enthusiastic about her class. You will learn a lot. Take her!
Do not listen to the people who gave this true gem of a professor a bad rating. She does make you work for your grade, but if you cant do the work then of course you wont do well. Just come in prepared to class. All she truly wants are for people to participate and show the same passion that she has for the texts. Overall, amazing professor!
Prof. Christoforatou was a great professor to take for ENG 2800. She quite obviously cares about the material and tries to instill that passion into you. This is not the class for those who want to skip out on readings or sit in the back and not participate. You get to revise essays and final is open book (not notes).
Professor Christoforatou was great with regards to her knowledge about the material covered during class. She shows a lot of passion for the literature we talk about, and encourages students to participate a lot. She grades really strictly in terms of papers (only 2 major ones, and one shorter in class response), gives one quiz, and a final exam.
Professor Christoforatou cares a great deal about the content that is in the syllabus and it is clear that she has done this for many years. Sometimes she may ramble on about background, but at the end of the day she provokes good participation in students and this course challenged me in the best way possible as someone who enjoys English.
She's super nice and a good professor. She wants people to participate, sometimes its hard bc then everyone sounds repetitive. Your grade is based on 3 blogposts, 2 formal essays and one in-class essay. You can also revise your work. Take her class!
She made sure to make the class feel as though we are in a real classroom even over Zoom and encouraged participation from everyone. Lots of readings but definitely manageable. Allowed corrections for essays and prepares you well for all assignments. Made adjustments to the syllabus to help us out due to COVID in regards to grading. Great course!
I have no idea how this professor has such good reviews. im assuming there coming from ALL literature majors. this professor gave 5 different readings (20 plus pages ) and poems with blog posts AND A minimum 20 MIN panel presentation on ancient poems that would be 20% of your grade ALL IN THE FIRST 3 WEEKS of the course. and this was a IN PERSON.
She is amazing professor and really passionate about what she is teaching. She wants you get an A, and will help through the course. There were one presentation, a lot of reading, two papers and two blog posts. She is very flexible with due dates and allows you to revise papers. You have to read and participate in class!
Prof. Christoforatou is overall a nice professor who is looking to help her students understand literature at a deeper level. However, she has a tendency to interrupt students when she thinks they are wrong and argue with them in front of the class about their work. This class has a lot of reading and deeply analyzing/discussing ancient literature.
She is a good professor. If you are an introvert, this class is not for you. She is willing to help you always.
Super knowledgeable and helpful. I enjoyed the literature and she really helped me with my writing.
Prof Christoforatou is super passionate and knowledgeable about Chaucer. She made the course accessible to all majors and allowed revisions on the big papers. You can really tell she just wants you to succeed and leave the class with more knowledge. She is also available outside of class.
An amazing professor & an amazing person. She truly cares about her students, & especially cares about Chaucer. I took this class for my capstone credit, and she really helped me through the course, which allowed me to receive a good grade. This course is not easy, but you'll do fine if you put the effort in and ask for help. She allows revisions.
Don't take this class if your an introvert. Prof is passionate about the subject and literature. Weekly readings are hefty but manageable. 3 papers, 3 blog posts, a presentation, and a final. Somewhat argumentative and interruptive with students, she'll call on names if no one speaks up. If you don't mind that, great class, just don't be lazy.
It's an easy class if you don't mind all the readings and writing assignments. There is one solo presentation that is required about 10-20 minutes long. She has a decent personality but she could get argumentative and start interrupting. She also lacks understanding when it comes to asking her for help (especially during office hours).
Great class in medieval lit and enthusiastic professor. She knows her stuff so come prepared. I met three times with her to review my essays and she helped me with my writing. Generous with her time and straight up. She allows revisions.
Excellent professor. Work included 2 papers (the second longer), 3 blog posts (~790 words), a 20-min presentation, and a final (options: take-home, in-person, or revisions). Class is HEAVY on discussion, reading, and writing. Provides great feedback and advice during office hours. Not ideal for those who struggle with participation and keeping up.
She's knowledgeable, and the class could be interesting if you like ancient literature. But she talks non-stop—often for an hour—before writing a "discussion" question, yet keeps talking over students. After 15 minutes, you start dozing off. She needs to tweak her teaching style bc no one has this much patience.
She is a fair grader and a kind person. If you put in effort in her class, you will succeed. Her lectures are a bit boring, but overall a good professor.
