Very nice person but not very thorough. I had some trouble following her in class. It was sometimes hard to figure out where she was comming from.
Kind, friendly lady. Did not learn very much from the class however...learned mostly from the book. She should lecture more instead of going around to each person in the class and checking their papers.
very friendly but she is very concerned with students thinking the class is too easy and makes tests and quiz very tricky. does not grade papers consistently and half the time does not know how to work the problems. be prepared to learn from the book and lab. definitely picks favorites and they receive better grading.
I had her for Liberal arts math. I didn't see her playing favorites; her tests were pretty easy and straight forward, and returned the next class period, usually. Biggest problem is she sometimes confuses herself in the lecture, but usually gets it straight if she is questioned
Her class was kinda boring, but I think that is because she explains so much, and I already understood the material. She tries to find different ways to explain things if you get lost. She's easy to get sidetracked on tangents, but finds her way back. She likes Harry Potter a lot, and is a member of the pi society, which is kinda nerdy, but fun.
Excellent Teacher for applied calculus! I highly recommend her to anyone who wants to learn. Do your homework and read the chapter before you go to class. She takes the time to make sure you're learning the material and explains anything you don't understand. If you understand the homework and do the chap reviews, you'll do well on her exams.
SHE SUCKS!!!!!!!!! DONNNTTTT TAKE THIS TEACHER!!! SERIOUSLY THE WORST MATH CLASS EVER! SHE DOESNT EXPLAIN ANYTHING AND SHE'S NOT HELPFULL WITH NOTES OR HOMEWORK! SHE SUCKED! I DROPPED THE CLASS
This teacher was amazing! I was horriable at math and she made it so easy! I took the online class that met once a week at school, if I needed help on the book homework she was there to make it crystal clear. She went over the review for the final way ahead of time and I got an A, really easily!
i loved her class, she is an awesome teacher! if you have to take statistics take it with her!
Very good at teaching Liberal Arts Math and Topics in Math. Take good notes because her final is an open-notes exam, and the weekly homework assignments aren't due until the end of the semester. Easy classes to make A's.
Awesome teacher. Take notes, you can use them on her final. Easy to learn from.
Very easy teacher. was a bit bored from time to time and i am NOT a math person. take it for any easy A, but you do learn.
it is an easy class but besides that it sucks. i couldnt stand listening to another one of her stupid jokes. they suck. def picks favorites. if u have to take her do what i did and just dont talk to her the whole time and she also teaches her own methods instead of the one in hte book so when u go to do hw its all different from what she taught you
I took her class, she gives alright lectures. But is very hard to follow, the whole class had a hard time following her, she is not clear at all on homework, assignments, and notes and such. She doesn't understand the students, I'd give her a very low rating, Don't take her!
The class is too easy! She gives a review before the test that is exactly like the test. She loves her job and is glad to help people that dont understand. I took her for a summer semester of STA 2023. Awesome teacher, better person. Take her class!
she is very nice and very helpful. if you have any problem she will gladly help as much as she can. the homework was online which was pretty annoying, but just do it as you go and not wait. and her classes are usually very easy
ok. she lectured terribly, everyone in the class was LOST.(if youre really good at math then u should be ok) I went to the arc after every class (this is where i learned SOME informatation) yet still got a D.for all the extra time and effort i put i desereved an A. absolutely rediculous. only take her if u can figure out the material on your own.
Jokes are a little corny, but she tries. If you are real slow in mathematics, you will want to be sure to ask questions or she won't know you are not up to speed. She grades based on what one learns in her class and avoids the nonsense of "presentations" and "attendance". Not a class to take if you are just "coasting".
I took her class over the summer and it was great
she is ok teacher...I think people who doesn't have good math should not take her class because she directly jump on higher step.....whose basic is good can understand but people who is not good in maths not clear with all problem....as I got A in her class but this is just because I study at my own.
Math was never my stong subject, but she made all of the concepts easy to understand for all types of learners. She has a great personality and is very enthusiastic. After her main lecture, you can work in groups and she will walk around the room to help anyone who has questions. I would reccomend taking her class to anyone!
I was required to take this course for business administration. Math is by no means my academic strength. Mrs. Dwyer taught in a way that helped me better understand the material. I received a B in the course. I recommend completeing the hw's prior to the following class, and studying! This subject is not easy, but Mrs. Dwyer helped me..alot!
Professor Dwyer as a math teacher has changed my life. I finally was able to pass a math class at mcc after many attempts with other teachers. She is a one of a kind teacher and has made me finally feel confident about my worst subject. I got an A in her class. Just study the reviews and go to her office when you dont understand stuff.
Great person, wonderful teacher. I don't want to say she was easy, she challenged me, but she supported me. She was a character - liked to try and have a good time, made class interesting. Statistics is not exactly exciting!! I wish I could have her for my Calc class, I'm so struggling. Highly recommend this teacher!
I dropped her class. I have a rough time with this subject and I could tell that at the pace she was going I was going to do poorly. I would look for another professor. Gotta have Gottlieb!
The class is hard. It's Calculus and that should not affect her rating. The fact is: She is clear, approachable, understanding and a great teacher. I got a C in PreCalc but I am acing her class because has made the material easy to learn. Y
The class is hard. It's Calculus and that should not affect her rating. The fact is: She is clear, approachable, understanding and a great teacher. I got a C in PreCalc but I am acing her class because has made the material easy to learn. You have a lot of homework, but you will damn well know the material.
This teacher is very passionate about statistics... uses real life experiences to explain. Book was not helpful at all, would rather have just learned from teacher. good amount of homework, but teacher was somewhat lenient and understanding.
Took the online course & txtbks were USELESS. If not for Dwyer, I would've dropped long ago. she knows her stuff, loves teaching it and will work with you tirelessly until you tell her you understand it too. Meets before class and even puts together flash presentations if you need them. Do your part and she will guide you the rest of the way.
This was my second class with this instructor. First was statistics. Calculus is VERY HARD but as with the previous class, her instruction is clear and helpful. Opportunity for extra credit if you need the points. Wants students to succeed and will help. Tests are JUST LIKE the reviews. Definitely recommend.
Excellent teacher. Explains subject matter clearly. Very nice person.
Great Teacher, I highly recommend her! She explains everything until you understand. She is very strict about attendance so don't miss class- but the notes given in class are what's on the tests.
The worst professor ever. I have to re-learn everything after class.
Great teacher with a great personality. You can not miss class though. She has her own notes that she hands out that covers everything on the tests and spends as much time as you need to review. If you miss a class though, you are pretty much screwed.
The class was easy. She assumes that you have had math before and only briefly reviews from previous years. She is a really nice lady and provides help if you need it.
Best math teacher I have had since being at SCF, and I have had 2 others. Dwyer teaches with energy and passion, and constantly makes sure everyone understands what's going on. She uses a projector and has the calculator sync'd to it to make presentations easy! Tests are basically the same as her reviews. attendance is a must. Each miss = 1% off.
She is a safe teacher to take: she tells exactly what she expects upfront and her lectures and notes-sheets are very concise (especially compared to the insane textbook). If you know the material, the tests are easy BUT she requires you to turn in all the assigned homework, which is a major pain. Expect to work a lot in this class.
Excellent professor..i struggled with math for years and I recieved a B she is very upfront in regards to her expectations..Attendance is very mandatory along with homework...
Prof. Dwyer is a nice lady. Took her for calc 2&3. Not the greatest teacher she merely just does the problems on the board. Class can be boring. The best thing about her is, for the most part, her exams are fair. Nothing beyond the review and hw. If you want a bad teacher w/fair exams take her. If you want a good prof w/hard exams take anyone else.
i found her class average. Major attendance checker (took roll after a test, and before beginning a lecture). She will follow the outline with few exceptions. You must have the book. No online HW required. I did appreciate her test writing. There was only one extra credit project. Good luck...
Fantastic professor. Didn't love the class but she was great! The class was blended so there was only 1/2 the classroom time. She was very clear and always helpful. Respondeds to emails very fast. She is very funny makes class fun.
Professor Dwyer is a fun, charismatic person, who doesn't believe in just handing out A's. She makes you work for your grade, but is also understanding and helpful. She is a great teacher if you are willing to work for your grade. I would definitely take her class again, and recommend her to anyone.
She teaches from her notes, not from the textbook, which makes doing homework very hard. With nothing relevant to practice from except her test reviews, I had to learn the material by myself and through the use of tutors. She tries to be helpful but is clear as mud. VERY diff. class & attendance is mandatory. Wish I'd taken this with diff. teacher
Wouldn't be surprised if the 8/7 comment was posted by the guy who showed up for the final without his calculator. If you are not prepared and never have the handouts in class, you won't do well otherwise you will
Great teacher! I normally dread math classes but actually found myself looking forward to hers. You follow along with her worksheets so you don't waste a ton of time taking notes or having to worry about falling behind. She doesn't tolerate disruptive talking in her class or distracting behavior so it's a nice environment if you are there to learn.
I recommend taking STA2023 with her, but advise you against the online class (and I've had Calc & Phy w/ Calc). The in-class explaination helps tons, the trade-off is mandatory attendance but that seems to be normal at SCF. She explains things in a way that seems to work well for both the mathphobic and the competent. She also takes time to help.
If I was going to make any cuts to the education system, I would start with her. She is a total waste of money!
I took her for trig and I to get a tutor. Not the best teacher I will say I wish Mr.Unger taught precalc and calc Unger is the best crystal clear teaching! if possible check out some other teachers.
If you want to succeed in her class, you have to really go over the material with a tutor or put so many hours more into her lectures that she was suppose to have taught you in the first place while in class. If you don't have the time to do this...ur not going to make it. I think she loves to see student fail. What a waste of time!!
Not the BEST teacher and not the WORST... She has ZERO sense of humor and doesn't find alot of humor in what other people say which made for a awkward classroom. Attendance is 100% necessary! She's ok..but I'm sure there's better. I grade her a C-
If you are in college to learn, she is a wonderful teacher! I had fun in every class and always felt like my questions were being answered clearly. Don't get me wrong I put in the time to get the A, but she was always there if I was unsure of how to do something.
Took it for a summer class and it was a pretty decent class. She explains things clearly, but if you have a question she kind of makes you feel stupid. Always takes attendance and barely ever used the book. Not the worst or best i've taken!
Shes a nice proffessor, but If you have problems with math, she is not the professor you should get.
Wonderful!
Worst. I took her online, big mistake. Suppose to use provided notes for hw, but much of the hw is not in the notes. Many questions on quizzes that weren't covered. She wants students to answer eachothers questions. I do well in school and excel in math but I was lucky to pass this course. Debating taking it again with someone else. Very unhappy
HW load is massive for online class. Tests are a little difficult cuzthe hw is not really simiar to what she wants you to learn for exams.Acess code is a must for online class, but book is not needed. Look at her notes while doing the hw it helps.
she is one of the best math teachers i have ever had very helpful and makes math funny and easy to understand.
Actually, she gives HW which wont be helpful for the test.It is possible to pass this class IF your only the teacher herself. She teaches but not good enough to pass the TEST. she teaches as if you know everything. You'll have to be a statistics major to know what shes talking about. Never mind those who are bad at math, you will struggle.
Discrete Math was tough. If you do some of the problems listed in on the syllabus, do your projects which are pretty easy, for each test you should be able to get an A. She’s very nice and is willing to break down each problem so you can understand. If you’re a self-motivated person then this is the class for you. I recommend this professor.
Never answers emails, ever! Very upsetting!
Online course was a bit confusing, she never replies emails
This class is very hard. You will not be able to get help in the ARC. Her grading is completely unforgiving, and she get upset if you ask questions. Projects have wrong directions on them and some of the test have multiple answers by mistake. God help you if you have to take this class. This class killed my GPA...
Hardest and strangest math material you will ever see, but the professor is great. she explains the metrical well and will answer any questions you will have. Do the problems listed in the syllabus, go over each review, and complete your projects and you will do great!
I thought the class was fine. I did the assignments and studied for the exams. Listened to all the lectures. No surprises on the exams. If you need help she will give it. No problem. (I took this class at USF)
I thought she was great and effective in teaching the course material and I'm NOT a math person. You don't need the book, she posts the notes and the test reviews(which are almost identical to the test) on the statlab. Hw on statlab is tedious but she gives you all the shortcuts for the problems. I say take her class.
Prof. Dwyer is great. Frankly, I was surprised how many of my classmates did poorly due to lack of effort. If you pay attention and STUDY the notes she writes out for you WORD FOR WORD you will have no problem passing with an A+. Tests are identical to notes. Like I said if you do what you are supposed to, easy A. We are in college people.
Come on people! This is college-it should be challenging and Ms. Dwyer is by far one of the best teachers at SCF. Yes she's hard and yes she expects you to attend and do your work and put in effort-WOW! That's what adults in college are supposed to do! I hated math and now I love it! I've had her for 4 math classes and I'm taking another in fall!!
Worst math class I've been in. Hard and she goes fast. Gives no extra credit. Save yourself choose an easier math teacher!
I really enjoyed this professor. She explains every problem step-by-step. If you have questions she will keep explaining it until you understand. Helps with homework questions during every class. Doesn't not require textbook, but uses My Math Lab. Provides exam study guides that match exams. I am taking this professor again next semester.
Worst Math Teacher. Her teaching is unclear and confusing. DO NOT TAKE
She only uses Angel for syllabus. MyMathLab for the whole course. Test and quiz after each chapter. No extracredit but tests are graded on 105 so if you miss 5 points you still get 100. Class is not interactive, you come in, give attendance, take notes, and leave. Final exam is based on SCF Math Chair man, so study hard!Great 4 true college student
You come to class, take notes, leave. Not interactive at all. Has all notes online, you must print out. Goes fast. Loves math. Stands in front of the problems a lot. Tolerating to a point. Feels like a highschool environment. Homework is all Mathlab, no reason to not get 100 on it. Exams are hard. Things you learn are applied in any form of testing
Worst statistics teacher ever! I would never recommend. Goes fast. Expects everyone to know it already. Doesn't give reviews for tests. Almost the whole class failed this course. Trust me, get a better teacher!
MOST AWFUL MATH CLASS. she does a vote method on the answer instead of explaining the answer. she assigns group work in the class. who assigns group work for math? her notes are nothing like the tests. I basically taught myself the entire chapter. do not take this teacher. do not! I warn you now you will regret her!
This teacher is excellent. If you show up to class, take notes and do the homework, there is no reason for you not to do well. She answers questions at the beginning of every class. Gives test reviews that match tests, does not require textbook, used MyMathLab. I have now taken this teacher for three semesters, and received an A each semester.
Took the blended online six week course. Homework was easy with step-by-step examples. Met up once a week with professor to go over material and ask questions. Professor gave a review packet that mirrored each exam. Did not buy the textbook because it's given to you online as an ebook. Take this professor and this class!
i didnt have much interaction with the teacher. i showed up for the midterm and the final and that was it, i never asked for help because it was not needed.
This professor was helpful when you needed it. She made it easy to e-mail and if you had a question she would respond so the whole class could have the answer. I showed up early before midterm and final and she answered any questions I had and helped me understand it. I got an A and I had gotten a D in the class previously.
Great professor! Very approachable and is more than happy to help. Would take another course with her if offered.
This professor quite literally saved my semester. I had foolishly planned months in advance to be out of town during finals week. She answered every one of my panic-stricken emails, and allowed me to take an incomplete status and take my exam next semester. She's awesome!
I failed this class with another professor. Prof. Dwyer is relaxed and approachable with a great teaching style. If I EVER have to take another STAT or MATH corse, I will gladly take it with her.
I'm not a math person by any means, and Professor Dwyer made this class so easy for me. Show up to class, pay attention, take notes, and you should get an easy A or B. What she gives on the review is ACTUALLY on the test and her expectations are very clear. I would recommend her for any math class! She's the best!
After failing this class once with a different teacher, Dwyer saved me. She made the information clear and understandable. Dwyer makes her own lecture notes that help you follow along with what she's teaching. She doesn't waste your time with group projects and she makes sure everyone understands. I recommend taking her class for Statistics.
I withdrew from this course last semester and I have to say that Dwyer has a much more effective teaching method than my last professor. Being a math wiz, I felt discouraged after withdrawing last semester but I received an A overall. Its not an easy class, but if you do the hw and then some, you will pass. Would take again !
Too silly sometimes. Went off on many tangents. But easy professor.
Her tests are good, but instead of covering a bit from each topic in the course, she bunches up questions and covers only 2 or 3 topics, with like 10 questions each. She responds quickly to emails. The homework in ConnectMath is difficult, though, and she only drops the lowest exam score if your Final score is higher than it. Highly recommend her.
Awesome teacher! She is so funny and willing to help. I was scared going into a statistics class but she made it so fun and so understandable! And I passed with an A
She's really sweet just don't talk while she is and don't be late to class! I'm not a huge math fan but her class is really enjoyable. The hw is pretty tricky sometimes, but the tests are never as hard and she grades hw on completion for the most part. Come prepared with hw questions if you have any; she won't go over hw or tests unless you ask.
Great teacher!!
She's a great professor. Very structured and to the point. Her homework assignments are minimal and way harder than the tests. She is a bit nerdy but that can make you laugh. The only reason the difficulty is high is because its Pre-Calc... its just generally tough.
Homework is online so you need the connect code. Tests are just like her reviews. I am not good at math at all and she teaches so you can understand it regardless of your math skills. Lectures go off target but she is engaging and funny. Highly recommend her!
I find math really difficult, but she made it pretty enjoyable. Pre-Calc was a terrifying class to go into, but she's funny and easy-going. Would definitely recommend, and I'm probably going to take a class of hers again.
Ms. Dwyer is a fun and amazing teacher. She's very hands-on and is available if help is needed. Very thorough teacher and she keeps the class interesting. Notes are so easy to follow that they can almost be done on your own. If you at least look at the test reviews you will pass the tests. Homework is all on Pearson and isnt due till the test.
If you want an understanding and well explained teacher, go no further. She is excellent, very nice, and quite a jokester. The tests are just like the test review, homework is all on mymathlab. DO take those quizzes on the website seriously. They are much harder than the homework and any notes, plus they count just as much as any in class exam!!
Took Stats online so only saw Dwyer for exams. HW was online and standard workload. If you had any ?'s, she was quick to respond or quide you in the right direction. 4 exams and 1 final - she gave clear reviews online before all exams and was happy to go over anything you needed before the actual exam. Graded fairly. Would 100% recommend.
amazing professor, gives reviews that mirror the actual test. she's fair and willing to answer any questions. she wants you to learn the material and pass.. take her!! you wont regret it )
Took online MAC 1114. Saw her only on testing dates at SCF. Used MyMathLab, so HW online. Lessons before test clearly teach what is going to be on the test. Recommend her.
Took het statistics class as a blended course. The review she gives mirrors the actual exam. If you do the homework, review and watch the videos, you WILL pass. If she made it any easier, this grade would be for free. Love her!
She was the worst profesor I've ever had. She read directly from PowerPoint, didn't take her time to explain things. Don't ever expect her to email you back she doesn't answer. Any questions regardless the class she will tell you to read your syllabus. Don't skip class or be late she will withdraw you from her class. Hw is online and confusing.
Took her class online and it was a very simple and clear course schedule to follow. She is very fair and provides exam study guides that mirror her tests. The homework will require time and your calculator will be your best friend, but the time invested will be worth it. I would take her again if I could!
Never responds to emails, lectures are all over the place, she is scattered. Shows up unprepared to most classes. When you ask her a question she will respond with everything but the answer to your question.
This is the teacher you want to have for STATS. She works with you and if you try hard you will pass. She does not like talking or cell phone use and will call you out on it if you are. She will go the mile to make class fun and memorable, but there is a lot of homework. Plus side of the homework, you learn.... crazy right?
I am sitting in her class currently writing this while planning how I am going to go home and teach myself everything for my test on Monday. She does not know how to teach. She is very good at going through the power point and doing the problems but not giving you a single clue on how to do then on your own. F.
I was in class with the person below that gave professor Dwyer a bad review. Dwyer was a great teacher. She has a sarcastic/nerdy sense of humor. The people that did poorly in her class sat in the back on their phones, talking, and a bit disrespectful. Dwyer knows her stuff. This is COLLEGE. Not high school. This is a average math class.
Nice, funny, and is really excited about the material she teaches. Never makes you feel stupid for asking questions or being lost. Forgiving with late homework and drops your lowest test grade. Made math enjoyable for someone who has always hated the subject.
She was great!!
She was good! very funny, and I loved her teaching style.
She is such an amazing teacher! She's cool and funny! I took her for statistics and I'm not very good at math, but she makes it so much easier to understand. The only homework is on MyStatLab, there's kind of a lot but there's plenty of time to complete it. She gives a few online "projects" but they are super easy to complete.
Super nice teacher who clearly wants to see her students succeed. Tests are really easy if you follow her test review. Doesnt give quizzes but gives projects online that correlate with the chapter that are easy. Homework is mystatslab. As long as you come to class and do the reviews youll get an A!
Literally the best math teacher I've ever had!! If I could give her more stars I would. I am absolutely awful at math but she made every thing so easy to understand and she even came to one of the study sessions our class had outside of class!
Simply it is not what the professor makes it seem like. It is a lot of homework and zero communication. Forget about asking her for something very simple, the answer will be "That is the way the course is designed". Zero flexibility. Stay away from a class that will waste your time simply because she is not approachable.
Clear and concise powerpoints that are super easy to follow. Loved her personality and energy while in class. Study guides are very helpful for preparing for exams. The only complaint I have is the amount of online homework, which has problems not explained in class and is not helpful for preparing for exams.
She's a good professor if you're willing to put in the effort to actually learn. Easy to understand and gives great examples. Attendance contributes to grade, so missing a lot isn't ideal. I'm not super into statistics, but did really well in this class. I'd totally recommend her.
I took "Pathway to Statistics" last semester & was so lost I got a B. Took this class & got an A. Dwyer is a great professor. Even though some of it was confusing if you work/study really hard you can pull through. Even if you're awful at math like me. Definitely recommend her class & will be taking her again if I can for future math classes!
I just wanted to warn anyone who is considering stats online- the online material provided is awful. The videos provided as lecture are SO old that they make no mention of the internet WHATSOEVER & if you pause them they crash instantly every time. I had to google a lot of the material. Dwyer's syllabus was fair enough, however.
I would not recommend this professor to someone who struggles with math. She is not very good at explaining things and she is a tough grader. Also, she does not respond to emails.
If your not good at math you're going to be left in the dust in her class. She zooms through lectures if no one says anything. Not really helpful for those that arent good with math
Best professor I've ever had. I took this class before with another professor and failed it, took it with professor Dwyer during summer and aced it. There are lots of homework but as long as you do them and do the test reviews you're good.
It's horrible how she doesn't give 2nd attempts for students to review their mistakes and retake to pass. Video lectures that were given were great but the calculator on some assignments didn't make sense. Not enough material to learn. I do not recommend this class.
Professor Dwyer was rlly caring and wanted to see her students succeed. She drops one test grade. There is a lot of homework but all that practice helps more then you think. She does reviews for every test and its a great way to study. hit or miss on how fast shed respond to emails but after class shed stay to help answer any questions!
Very understanding when my computer was acting up. Clear grading and plenty of material to help with studying.
TAKE HER CLASS! I have failed 3/6 math classes. All hw is due the same day once a month. Multiple attempts for quizzes, midterm, and final. I would not have obtained my AA without her making the quizzes/ tests easy. Passed the class with a 87%.
Professor Dwyer was very caring, answers you emails to help as much as she can. she gives good notes and midterms are based on everything. she covers they are easy if you pay attention.
If you're not good at math you might not pass. It was a struggle to learn material via her lectures She rushes through them if you don't ask any questions. I joined a study group that helped explain the material in a understandable way. There's absolutely no extra credit and she won't work with you. She also teaches Barefoot sometimes Kinda weird.
She is an extremely fast instructor and isn't very clear with how she answers questions. I often love lectures, but I would lose track of thought with how she teaches. It's very difficult to understand how she solves equations since she doesn't really explain herself.
I have had this professor before, and purposefully took her again. She is a fantastic math teacher, really wants every student to fully understand all the concepts. Willing to explain and re-explain. She is also very funny. Attendance isnt mandatory, but you need to go to class to understand the majority of the concepts. Definitely recommend!
Really easy math class. Very fair teacher.
I took her for MAT1105 and Statistics. She is a great MAT1105 professor, but a poor statistics professor. She changed how we receive our notes (print outs at first, then expected notes be taken in class from presentations) at the end of the semester. It is hard to know what is necessary to write down, as she rambles about unnecessary information.
This class wasn't as bad as I thought, but the videos provided are so outdated and makes it difficult to understand. The best thing I did was look up homework questions on Youtube and found quite a few good videos on similar problems to help me figure out how to do the problem myself. Ask my professor was nice as well, got back in a timely manner.
overall easy course. she allows formula sheets on unit tests and the final. there is a lot of homework but its fairly easy and doesn't take long to complete if you don't let it all pile up. no textbook but you do have to buy MyMathLab. she provides review tests which usually are almost exactly like the test. great person as well. I would recommend
Super easy class. Only two exams for the whole class, and you have two attempts to do them
The instructor is knowledgeable, but not allowing earlier exams is problematic. I had to fly to Chicago for my uncle's funeral and missed it due to the exam schedule. This added stress to an already difficult situation. Allowing earlier exams would be very helpful. Thank you.
There's not much interaction with the prof., she will send her YouTube link to explain any questions. I took the 6 week accelerated course so a lot of work but manageable if you don't procrastinate. Exams were manageable since there's two retakes but are 70% of grade. Used Mymathlab for everything which helped, I didn't learn much but I passed.
I already took 2 classes with her in my freshman year. I took MAC1105 and elementary statistics class and she is amazing. Now I am taking a precalculus with her again in my sophomore year. Grading is clear and necessary materials are provided for the exams. Exams are fairly easy if you do the Mathslab homework and practice the exam reviews well.
Dwyer's class had its challenges, but the video lectures and helpful professor were great resources. The online homework was tough, but tools like Unstuckstudy and study groups made a big difference. Overall, a rewarding course if you're willing to put in the work.
While the online learning materials and homework programs leave much to be desired, Professor Dwyer is a fantastic choice, especially for those not good with math. She provides two attempts on all tests, final included. On these tests she allows statcrunch and she creates a reference for you to use. Extremely grateful for her help.
Had Ms. Dwyer for college algebra and purposefully chose her again for elementary statistics. best math prof i've had. mymathlab homework's tend to be a little tedious at times. 4 test a semester each 20 questions on paper. Final 25-30 questions. Provides test reviews -similar to actual test-. pick her over any other professor, highly recommend!!
She is a great teacher, don't get me wrong, but it felt as if she did not really want to be there. There were only a handful amount of times that we actually stayed through the whole class period without getting dismissed half way through. That might sound amazing, but it hurts when you go to take the test and don't know what you are doing.
I echo what the review below mine said - she is a great teacher, but it did feel as if she did not really want to be there. I was really shocked at my A. It was so fast paced, and so much material that I didn't feel I really understood any of it, made sure I completed all homework on time & made formula sheets for tests. My course was MGF 1130.
Professor Dwyer made her class layout very clear and easy to understand. She was very helpful during her office hours and was flexible. I really appreciated the fact that she allows for two attempts on each test (even the final). Statistics is a hard class but she made it doable. Overall, I pretty happy with my choice of taking this professor.
She provides formula sheets for tests and the homework is fairly easy, but her tone is harsh to students and she isn't very approachable when students need help. I'd keep a clear record of instructions or agreements. Based on my experience, I wouldn't take another class with her. Not good if you have accommodations.
I was quite upset with her unwillingness to work with me as I am a dual enrollment student and this was my first time taking college courses while still doing high school work as well. One of the final exam questions was unfair in my opinion as it was about roulette, which is not something many young students would know about.
