She seems nice, but a terrible lecturer. Very boring, slow, reads off slides that are taken from textbook. "Anything in the book is fair game" for tests - focuses on small details, stats, years, while the book is packed with information; more like testing how well you memorized the book than understand the material. A lot of tricky mc questions.

She is a really great prof. Made the information interesting and the major assignment was a lot of fun! (Going to court and writing about it). She goes directly from the textbook. So you know what to expect and the tests are all MC which is easy if you read the text. I only attended half the classes and got an A. Read the textbook and your golden.

lectures aren't too long but she keeps you for the full 3 hours. The few times I did go to class, she wasted time reading sections of the book when we could clearly read it on our own. One of the best profs @ Ryerson. Literally take notes on the slides and you will get at least a 3.67. The course included 1 midterm, 1 essay & 1 final exam. She does include some questions from the readings and other external material but in most cases you can use common sense/knowledge to guess the answer.

One of the worst classes I have taken. There was zero interaction with prof. Had to learn the material completely on my own, no lectures just weekly slides with information. Super nice woman and makes the lectures very engaging and not boring. However, good luck on the midterm as the questions are super specific and almost impossible to study for. The research paper is a simple concept but I felt the marking was just a bit hard. Final much easier. Make sure to do the readings.

She is very passionate about what she knows. Although attendance isn't mandatory i would still recommend going because she provides more definitions in class. This class had one big essay assignment, 2 midterms (online) and no final. This course is very interesting and straightforward. Highly recommend taking this course, esp with her!

Either you can read 30+ pages per chapter from the textbook, or you can go to her lectures. She goes more in-depth during class, and most of her content is from textbooks. She gives good feedback as well and is really passionate about the industry. There is also an essay and two tests, which weren't difficult.

Super nice and funny prof. Her lectures and the textbook will set you up for a good mark, so just listen during lectures, do the readings, and you will succeed. I knew nothing about criminology going into the course and learned a lot of interesting stuff. Recommend this prof and class!!

I went into this course knowing next to nothing about criminology and walked out with some cool facts! Most of her lectures are taken straight from the textbook which can get rather dull, but she opens conversations to the floor often which helped to mix things up. Her tests are very specific but not impossible, so definitely attend lectures!

I honestly loved her, she's an amazing prof. I didnt know one thing about Crm and she made the class more interesting and she cracks a few jokes sometimes. her lectures are heavy sometimes but she marks fair. you do not need to attend lectures and still pass with a good grade. overall if she's an option in Crm101, I recommend to take her.

The way that the material provided was very basic so expect to do a lot of reading, but if you take the time to study then the midterm and the final is easy. The questions are very scenario based so be prepared for that too.

The course was very challenging, with exams that didn't align well with the lectures and readings. Attendance was mandatory, but seemed unnecessary as the tests focused on minor details instead of the core theories. Thankfully, Unstuckstudy helped me prepare by identifying key concepts to focus on.

Dr. Hollingshead is a very good prof, explains concepts and theories well. The course is textbook heavy and you will need to take thorough notes of her lectures. Do not miss lectures. The course consisted of two exams 31% each, one midterm paper worth 35%. A lot of the exam questions and the essay is heavily based off of textbook readings.

As others have mentioned, tests focus mostly on stats from the textbook rather than concepts. She's a good lecturer—engaging, funny, and nice—but her grading and feedback are unhelpful. The essay feedback is poor, and she can't explain where marks were lost. Grading 1000 papers isn't ideal; TAs should assist for better attention to each paper.

However, if you're taking this course to mark off an elective on your transcript, get ready to read for hours and forget everything by test day.

Mid-term exam was super easy. There were like 5/50 questions that were super specific, but at least all 50 of the questions could be answered by the slides and textbook. The essay had an easy concept but was marked harder than expected. Now the final exam was not easy at all. There were many questions I've never seen despite readings and slides.

Nice lady, unnecessarily hard marker. It was obvious that her goal was to curve the grades down to make sure people did not get A+ in an LL taken in the summer and that the average grades weren't too high. The essay was marked insanely hard for no reason whatsoever, and the instructions were a bit ambiguous as well. Take with an easier prof.
