It's amazing how many students fault a teacher for requiring them to actually DO THE WORK! If reading is required, then read! Your grade will be based, in part, on whether you do the work. No mystery people! True she has high standards, but she rewards on the effort expended as much as writing skill. Just try and you'll be fine. Recommended.

In the beginning, I thought teacher is tough, and that I will fail. But as the class progressed, she didn't seem as bad as I thought. Partly, was because I put in the effort to try, and I ended up with a better grade than I expected. Do the work, put in the effort, and you should be fine. She helps the students that seem to put in the effort.

Don't take this class if you don't like reading and writing. She probably reads these reviews since now she over-explains things that are obvious (or she might know that some students ARE NOT very clever). Tests are not easy if you haven't read. More like a University kind of teacher. Not a fun class, but she grades fair and she is really helpful.

I took her for Eng241, she is actually pretty clear and easy going, you do not need to read the assignment she explain them all in the class,Her tests are pretty easy, you only need to do well on your papers. I can assure you at least a B.

This is a college course, not a beauty pageant. Dr. Wells is a little strange, but she is still a very good teacher. She grades hard because she expects college level work from her students. This teacher is not for slackers. If you are motivated and ready to work, then Dr. Wells can help you improve your writing. If you're not...don't sign up.

Weird. She only required 4 papers, longest was around 7 pages (double-spaced). My only concern was that she seemed to grade the papers on her 'personal' opinion, rather than on grammatically correct and the like. She was a decent professor and was pleasant, just don't expect a lot.

Huge mistake taking this professor! She is a very hard grader so what you may think is some of your best work, she will find every little thing wrong with it. I got a B, but it took a lot of effort and I would have gotten an A had I taken it with someone else.

just after i signed up for this class i read the comments made on this site and was about to drop. I took ENG 112 in the summer and it was prob the easiest english class i've ever taken. She's fair and doesn't really care as long as you do your work. On the negative....it's REALLY BORING! drink 2-3 red bulls before the class. :-)

She is scary. Her class is like a terrifying paper workshop. You do nothing valuable except write; however, you don't learn how to do it (which is what intro ENG classes are for). Prerequisite is that you are a good writer. If you are good, it's a great class to challenge yourself. Bad learning environment. Class optional. Got "A" (very hard).

Used to hate and fear writing before this class. Doesn't care what you write as long as you put something into it.

Dr. Wells was one of the best English teacher from all the once I have had! As long as you come to class all the time and turn in your papers on time you should be able to maintain a B or higher in the class. We only had to do four papers throughout the semesters and they weren't complicated at all. I strongly suggest her class for an easy A or B.

Dr. Wells was a great english professor. She has helped me improve my english writing so much by just doing simply 4 essays including final its 5 essyas for an entire semester. Her class is so simple if you just come to class & do everything on time. Just make sure you attend every class and follow the deadlines for essays. Then you should be good!

I am almost half way through the semester. Dr Wells is very straight forward and clear. No, she will not give you an A for attendance. Shame on you if that's your expectation. Don't arrive late to class. It's clear she is annoyed and so am I quite frankly. You get what you put in to this class it's an easy A or B if you're committed to good grades

We have great discussions about what we're reading & the social issues in the text. Dr. Wells is passionate about teaching & her class is fun, I honestly look forward to it! I would say that as a hardworking student it isn't an easy A. I currently have a B; she doesn't just hand out A's left & right but if you put in a lot of effort you'll be fine!

If English is your strong subject, this class is an easy 'A.' Just show basic reading comprehension and insight, and cite your sources properly. If it isn't, she's probably not the best choice for you. She can be discouraging and unhelpful. Uses the plays, but not "Rules for Writers." I enjoyed the material, but I feel she isn't really teaching.

I consider myself an English-oriented person and I thought Dr. Wells was a fantastic professor. As long as you read the plays, cite your sources, and provide decent, interesting commentary in the essays, you should do reasonably well. I never felt pressed for time in this class and I wound up with a B pretty easily. Would definitely take again.

Her class consisted of reading six plays and doing in-class/essay writing. Make sure you read the plays she assigns and participate in class and you'll do fine.

The course consists of 2 papers, midterm (mcq & short answer), & final (essay). Read and you'll be fine. She gives a lot of freedom for papers. The lecture consists of powerpoints, short in-class writings & group discussions. People complain she's a harsh grader, but as long as you work hard & ask 4 help when you need it you'll get an A or B.

Dr. Wells is smart and her humor is dry. If you do the work you'll get an A no problem. She's easy going and definitely reasonable.
