ok teacher, lecture's kinda boring sometimes. hate doing her papers and tests
not bad teacher. She seems nice.. always smile in front of students.. She gives admiration unsparingly to students..however, she doesnt really give good grades.
Very nice teacher. Come to her office hours frequently and always show your effort. From my first C- essay, I got A- in my final grade.

Terrible professor. She wants to feel important in her classes at the expense of the students actually learning. You don't learn with her and she always make you feel that your writing are worst that it really is.
easy class, frustrating teacher. The course work and tests are straight forward. Must attend every class and she starts classes early. Participation grades count a LOT. Overall easy class, but she mocks at student's mistakes....very discouraging. Her tone of voice = annoying.
She tries hard to teach this class as clear as possible. Overall, I think she is a pretty good profesor.

Michaud i think is the best language teacher i've ever had, she does a good job explainig things, and everything that we go over in the class is pretty straight foward, as long as you show up on every class, and do the work, it's minimum B guaranteed class,
one sentence: DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS!very annoying attitude, its true that she mocks w/ students' mistakes,dont care about her students at all, has an unsatisfied ego, never wears pants,in one class whe made a student cry and even pushed her more, DONT TAKE THIS CLASS!
GREAT Prof!!!!!!! Very interesting, very strait forward. Always willing to explain. Go to office hours. As long as you work a fair amount, You will succeed in this Class. Of course, If you do not work at all...

She might be a professor and be knowledgable but not the right teacher at all..She is not kind at all..She really has to like you, or good luck..It is true she made a student cry during a presentation-for nothing really. She just misinterpreted a paragraph or something. She mocks students' mistakes. In a nutshell, don't risk your freshman year.

Christina Michaud is an outstanding professor. I've learned a lot from her. She organizes her lessons very well, but is indeed a very tough grader.

She is an amazing teacher but a very hard grader. She never gives A and she says "if you deserve A then why are you in this class?". I think that makes everything clear.
Take other writing course from other profs if you can. She does grades really hard.

I took her in 98 and 1oo by a mistake and she does not give good grades unless she does not like u from the beginning!I sent my essay assignment to a friend at Yale studying literature and I got C- which is impossible!!!!Unless u want to suffer seriously do not take her any any class

EXTREMELY TOUGH GRADER! Never satisfied with your essay, you are always wrong, she expects too much from their students and criticizes them making them feel like dumbs... That is very discouraging. Don't take any class at BU with her, honestly I don't recommend her at all.
People here are not giving her enough credit. Professor Michaud is really sweet and is very helpful. If you go to her for help she'll tell you everything you need to know to improve your writing, and the books were really interesting. I thought she was a very fair grader, and definitely recommend the class!

Just had her this semester. She's a wonderful teacher and doesn't make class tedious. The books are somewhat interesting. If you participate in class a lot you'll gain her respect. Very fair grader. Go see her during office hours. Definitely take her class- shes great!
I think the problem that people have encountered with Michaud stems from the fact that they don't like writing. I've noticed in my class with her that she does indeed favor those who are interested in the topics at hand (but thats expected of anyone). If you do the work and put forth the effort you'll do really well in this class.
She's not TOO bad. Her class was not interesting enough. Her grading was fair but harsh.

She is helpful but requires a lot on your writing skill(which is not bad cuz its a writing course).She sees your effort and remembers it. I went to her office hours every time b4 the major essay due.She knows whether you've worked hard.
An ice cube. I give an warning to those with glasshearts cuz she will be hurting. Whenever she does not feel right she will speak in very disturbing manner. Extremely picky and ambiguous. She sometimes speaks things that contradicts what she previously taught. BTW Her class is gauranteed B if you are good at avoiding casual words and grammer error.

A good class, not to much work if you like reading. The classes themselves are a little dull and you can skip every now and then. if you skip to much she wont give you a good grade. BTW tutors help.
Helpful,knowledgeable.She's not constrained by any technical stuffs as long as you show her that you take this course seriously(which many ppl don't)she is open to any idea presented in the essay.make sure the portfolio is user friendly(might boot your grade:>).From her view, attendance somehow reflect your attitude.

The worst professor i have ever had in BU! She doesn't know how to respect her students. Very mean and strict! Don't choose her. She is a crazy woman!
This is absolutely a hard class. A is impossible. The highest grade is A- only if you worked your ass off. However, she knows the stuff and you can learn something from the class if you want. Attendance is mandatory cause it can leave you a great impression to her. Overall, harder work=higher grade.

She is horrible at communicating with her students. She simply shuts you up and does not allow you to say anything she does not like! AVOID HER!!! SHE IS AWFUL
If all you want is to have a higher grade, give that up. But you can really learn something from this professor and those things you learned will influence you forever as a writer. It is much worth for you to take this class even though you have to sacrifice your good grade.

She is definitely a tough grader but I learned a lot in her class. Office hours are really helpful. I would absolutely recommend her class to those students who are willing to do what it takes to improve their writing skills. If you want an easy class then this is probably not the best choice for you.
She is a VERY tough grader, sometimes a little too tough. But you learn a lot. i owe her everything I know about academic writing and she is great with ESL students. It is most certainly not an easy class, but it is still worth it. Great and relevant readings and an assignment due every class. My progress in this class was enormous.

I don't undersand why people are saying bad things about her. Im an ESL and I learned so much from her in proper English writing. She never gets annoyed in explaining the basics but she expects u to grasp them after that(which is totally fair for you are a college student fgs). Perhaps some negative reviewers can stop taking things for granted.
Professor Michaud has an accepting mind for even polarized opinions. Participation matters a lot, even though her friendliness and caring nature might beguile you. She also has an incredible tolerance for trivial mistakes on papers and is willing to point them out for you without deducting points. An A (not a A-) is totally feasible.
Professor Michaud is really caring and inspirational. She had taught me so many useful techniques for writing and helped me improved a lot!

I tied my best, but she is the worst English teacher I ever Had. She didn't teach anything useful and she didn't tell you how you can improve your writing skills. The only thing she did is give me a bad grade. She is definitely the worst English teacher I ever had in my life.
Be very careful when choosing this lecturer. She puts students into two groups: the "A" group and the "D-C" group. Also quite disrespectful students. Definitely not a healthy way of teaching
She is a responsible and objective professor. However, I couldn't learn efficiently in her class, for her slides are far too crowded but not helpful. In fact, I can't figure out or put down the most important ideas, because she talks too much in lectures without useful hints on her slides. Anyway, I love the textbook she assigned; that's a plus.
Just avoid her. I worked hard on it but got bad grades with unacceptable reasons and barely received helpful feedback from her. Remember that you can always find a better professor.
Worst English teacher. She is disorganized, does not teach effectively, and gives no advice on writing. Her instructions are not clear, neither is her grading.
No respect for students. I was confused about why she can be a professor.
I can live with her but I'm not sure everyone else can. She has ideas about materials, but sometime she interrupts students in discussion. Her grading criteria is not really clear and her suggestions are partly useful. I'd say getting an average mark in her class is not hard if you get full attendance, but a top mark would require outstanding skill
I took prof Michaud's class last year. It was a disaster. she seems like she cares about her students at first but nope. her course is very disorganized, doesn't teach you anything, and well don't be surprised when you get terrible grades for unclear reasons.
Awesome professor and course! Despite being entirely on zoom, Prof Michaud made this class super engaging. Very insightful and intelligent, she truly cares about her students. I enjoyed the material we read and discussed throughout this course (topic of seminar was Race, Class, and Gender in the US Today), and I recommend to all!
Worked hard, but got a bad grade. Her grading rubric is unclear. I would recommend you to take other professors if possible. I remember meetup has free seat notification available.
She is very disrespectful. And she never looks at hw b/c my friend seldom did hw and she didn't find that out at all. I guess she just won't keep track on who does it and who doesn't. She pretends to be kind in class, she'll say your paper is awesome, BUT send super mean feedbacks on emails after grading it. The criteria are unclear and vague. Run.
Professor Michaud is the most disrespectful professor I have ever had. She is not responsive to student feedback and instead gets defensive and closes off. She also responds to students and provides feedback in the most condescending way. Avoid at all costs and save your mental health.
Unclear expectations and harsh, directionless feedback that sometimes just shows she did not review your work carefully. Spare yourself and pick a different professor, unless you enjoy lying awake at night, heart heavy with woe and trepidation for Christina Michaud's next feedback email.
Having seen reviews of her, I was scared to have her as my writing instructor but she was definitely not as bad as people made it out. Might be because I had her for an easier course, but she's definitely okay for wr112 and was super nice and cheerful w everyone in my class! She does give alot of assignments, but isn't strict with deadlines.
She is very clear about what she wants you to do and uses a grading contract
