I had her as a TA, but she taught most of the class... better than the professor did. Highly recommend!
I love her! She's one of the best professors i've ever had! Shes very organized, very sweet, down to earth and cares more about the students understanding the lesson than actually just moving fast through it. I highly recommend her! I plan on taking whatever class she teachs next!! :-)
This class is very easy. There is no text book assigned, which makes it better. But the only thing is that you have to come to class to take notes. Attendance is mandatory. You get to watch some videos. Gives a study guide that has all of the answers.I recommend this class. It's an easy "A". She's also a nice professor.
She is a great professor!! I loved this class. She is very organized, and has every lesson on a power point presentation. She is all about helping her students out, and even gives extra credit to boost you up to an A if you're boarderline...I highly recommend her! Plus, she's a total sweetheart :-)
Awesome, EASY, Helpful, what more do you need?! No assignments, 2 easy tests. Highly reccommend!!!
AMAZING PROFESSOR!!! I wish every teacher taught as great as her. Highly enjoyable class. You'll learn a lot and it won't even seem like work. She's fun and helpful. Always looking out for her students!!! :-) TAKE ANY OF HER CLASSES!!
Great teacher; she started off the first class by saying she hated the room that was given our class so we had an extra credit assignment to scour the campus in groups and find classrooms that would better suit us; she is so nice and always finds a way to incorperate our notes into everyday experiences. No book either!!!!!!
theres no textbook, she provides really clear power point notes, attendance is mandatory/checked. Shes really nice and funny, id def take this class again
Has to be the dimmest teacher on campus. Class is easy, boring as hell, and I wonder how she got into grad school . If you want to actually learn and be stimulated, go elsewhere, if you just want to coast through a class, and maybe fall asleep from time to time, this is the place to do it.
I really liked this class. It's not my major, but it was fun and I was able use some of the stuff in real life. I would recommend this teacher.
She's Amazing! I agree with the person below me, that one comment left about her is WAY OFF! Shes really into her material and makes the class time go by so fast. Very organized and on top of students to make sure they are performing at their best. She gives a midterm and a final, and thats it. Take all the notes in class, and you'll do just fine!
I LOVED THIS CLASS.
I'm taking this class online. I've taken a lot of classes online, and out of all of them, this is the only one where the format hasn't completely confused me. It's really clear and well organized, and she is very good about answering all of my questions via email.

I really like this class. It's cool because she makes the lecture videos available for our computers or our iPods or PSPs. We just had our midterm and I got an A. If you pay attention, you'll like the class and do well.
Hands down the best in the soc department. Ms. Partin is awesome. I took her online course and finished with 101% because it's such interesting material. Video lectures and a small quiz every week; midterms are easy. Watch the videos, do the fill-in notes and you'll get an A. HIGHLY recommended!!!
She is an AMAZING professor!! She cares so much about her students & their success. She is very knowledgeable in all areas of sociology & makes sure that regardless of what she's talking about she relates it to a current situation in the media that students can understand. Very very organized & very clear on what is important for exams. Take Her!!!
Taking this course online. Absolutely ridiculous. It's extremely easy, but don't expect to be wowed with her knowledge. She does not come across to me as "knowledgable" and spends most of her lectures staring at her own notes or repeating herself... they make me want to knock my head against the wall. She's sweet as pie, but I learned nothing new.
I LOVE THIS CLASS! The video lectures are clear and easy to follow. She provides lots of examples so we definitely understand the concepts, and she didn't make us buy a textbook which saved me money! The class is among my favorites & I would recommend it to any student who wants to learn stuff that can apply to your real life!
Online class didn't use a text. But you need to watch the lectures. Totally straight forward. Awsome teacher!
Took her online class. I learned a lot about soc psy. Very easy and enjoyable. Just make sure not to fall behind on lectures and you'll get an A.
Very sweet and helpful. Go to class, study for tests and you will do good.
Easy, semi-interesting class. She is very nice and gives opportunity for extra credit. There is no book. Tests are kind of tricky, but she gives easy one-page essays that boost your grade. Final was a joke I got a 100%. Good class to take, interesting and easy.
Take it online! The videos weren't very long and she made them interesting, the info easy to understand and applicable to real life. Your grade is based on quiz grades, Two 2-page (double spaced) papers, midterm & final. You should get 100's on everything as long as you watch the videos and attempt the work. Great Teacher! Take her!
This class was great! Its an easy class if you do the work. In addition to the easy A, I learned some interesting stuff.
This class was soooooo easy! She is helpful when you need her, but you probably wont b/c she has the class set up very well. It was a very interesting class and it was super easy...take it!!!
I loved this class- it was Social Problems, so it wasn't "fun" material, but it was SO interesting. I decided to minor in sociology because it seems so useful. Ms. Partin was very nice and helpful, and the class is enjoyable. I'd highly recommend her to other students!
I dont like her at all. she uses to her position as a teacher to pass off her liberal propaganda a fact and no one questions her. Her discussions are always one sided. Id expect that to a degree but not to the point she goes.
This teacher is informative, yet not harsh or anal. The material is easy and interesting simulataneously.
This teacher is great. I loved having her class. She tries her best to make sure everyone walks out understanding. she has 4 grades 2 reflective papers and 2 exams, which are given on the internet. The class is well worth taking. Just go ahead and add.
She was really nice. Her material is pretty self explanatory so it's not hard to make a good grade if you have some common sense and pay a little bit attention and take minimal notes. There are 4 papers (she grades kind of slow, but it's a huge class so it's expected). It's really fun if you give it the time of day. Highly recommended.
This was a very easy class. It was done online and she did not make us buy a textbook! Her lectures are very informative and her Quizzes correspond directly to her lecture notes. She always responded to emails and was very helpful. Definatly recommend the teacher and the class.
Very awesome teacher! Friendly and easy to understand. Go to class, take notes, get a good grade. Tests are straight forward, no tricks. Its a good class.
Very good at teaching. Everthing said and put up on powerpoint in class is everything on the exams. I never read the book. Also, the exams were online...so i got to look at my notes! Very sweet and funny, often showed clips from comedy central. very fun and easy class!
She is a very good teacher! Very easy to understand and she gives each student ample opportunity to get a perfect score!
So easy!! Take this class online for an easy A+ and a great boost to your GPA... No textbook needed and her lectures that are online are not boring either!
Interesting teacher that has a online midterm and final.. 2 papers are easy
I took her class on the St. Pete campus, it was her first time teaching on that campus. She was nice and helpful. There was no textbook but there were article that she asked you to read during the semester. The exams were online and fairly easy if you went to class and took notes.
EASIEST CLASS EVER!!! online midterm and final-yes, you can use the book and your notes. easy extra credit chances. all you have to do is go to class, listen, and you wont need to touch the book (except maybe for the tests). a few papers, but they're easy too. she makes the class fun and interesting. definantly take it for a a gpa boost and laughs!
Take this class...super easy. There is a text book but you don't need if you go to class. Notes are on ppt, but she doesn't post. The class could get a little boring but worth the GPA boost. Two online exams all from in class notes and two papers that can be done in about 30min. She offers extra credit but it is not needed to get the A.
I took this class online Spring '08. This was probably the easiest class I ever took! Very easy A. Partin is awesome! Very friendly, cares about her students, and wants them to do well. She puts a lot of effort into the lectures. VERY easy quizzes, short paper, the miderm/final a bit harder. Take this class!!!
GREAT CLASS! The teacher is super nice, one of the most caring that I have had at USF. Attendance is not mandatory, but if you don't have a book then you should go to the lectures for the tests. There were 2 finals and both were online. There were also a couple of papers, which were easy if you followed the guidelines. I also learned a lot.
Super nice and helpful, her teaching held my interest even though attendence wasn't mandatory. The papers she assigned were easy and I still managed to get a C+ after missing one.
The class was so ridiculously easy it was boring. She does random attendance points and I was never there when she took attendance, and always there when she didn't. I got A's on both tests and both papers but got a B in the class because of attendance :(
This class was utterly amazing. Attendance is not mandatory but I actually hated missing it and was glued to my seat EVERY CLASS! There is no text book, lectures are very stimulating and interactive, open discussions are both allowed and heavily encouraged. The movie review assignment is amazing at it allows you to apply what you learn in class!!
She is a very sweet professor! I loved her to death. The material was extremely interesting except when her T.A.'s taught, but other than that it was a very good class. There is no textbook, just her lectures and the occasional online homework problem. The exams are also very easy. I highly recommend taking this class!
VERY VERY VERY EASY CLASS!! PLUS NO TEXT BOOK!
No textbook. Great class to take if freshmen, and needs transition to college. Over simplifies material and blackboard use. Does a comprehensive review right before handing out the exams. Great caring personality, extremely eager for everyone to get a good grade. Material very minimal and easy.
Awesome professor! Extremely funny and makes the subject interesting. textbook really isn't required, did help me a little. Highly recommend taking this class. You learn a lot and she makes it a lot of fun.
This online course consists of watching her lectures on video, and writing on fill-in-the-blank notes. She explains everything extremely thoroughly. This class is cake, take it.
Partin herself is a great teacher, but her use of TAs is what saddens me. She uses her TAs to give lectures some times and they usualy dont do as good as a job as her. They either need better training, or better TAs. She also doesnt give out reviews for tests until a week before and they are usually not helpful.
My favorite professor at USF! I ended the class with an 89, and she rounded up and gave me an A! The material is easy and intersting, expect when the TA's taught, which was pretty boring. The class is pretty much two tests and a paper, with 5 homework grades. Definitely a class to take while at USF.
She is an awesome professor and makes the learning experience extremely fun!
TAKE HER!! My favorite professor so far at USF. She is amazingly frinedly, easy grader, material is actually interesting. Her T.A's arent as good but once she starts talking you can feel her warmth and welcoming nature. Class is 2 tests (MC and T or F) and a synthesis paper which I got 100 on bc she graded it. hw is a peice of cake. RECOMMENDED!!
This is a very easy upper level online class. There are 12 quizzes, 4 tests, and one extra credit opportunity. There is no textbook required. The material is based on her videos. I find the videos very interesting, and you get to learn a lot about social psychology. Plus, you get to see more of the teacher because she is kind of hot.
Easy professor. I took 2 courses with her and got an A in both. Not a lot of work and attendance is not mandatory. The midterm and the final are online and she has all her notes on powerpoint slides. She doesn't post her slides so it is good idea to go to class to get the notes. Fun person and wants her students to do well. Highly suggest her!
Interesting class, no book required which is a plus. 2 exams which are easy if you go to class and 1 paper which requires a little work.
Very easy class. No textbook - everything you need is provided on BB. Only drawback she's hard to get a hold of cause she's very busy.
I was a returning student after 28 yrs. She made the transition tolerable and gave me the confidente to succeed. And she is not even aware of the positive influence she had on my success in continuing towards my degree.
What everyone else has said is true. The class isnt difficult, only an introductory one. But because of this, it was SUPER boring, and I found myself ready to fall asleep within just a few minutes of sitting there. I also despised her TA's. They are poor excuses and very pompous when I had the class. I hope she gets rid of them!
Really funny and sweet professor. Wants everyone to do well. Take her
This professor is fantastic. I took the class online and it was so easy. The most difficult part was the group projects, but only because group work is usually a pain. At the first sign of trouble, switch groups to avoid a headache at the end of the semester. Besides this, the lectures were interesting and the quizzes were a breeze.
Great instructor! Easy class! Would definately take her again. But her TA's are the worst.
Nice lady cares about students tries to appear neutral but u can tell shes liberal. This class is supposed to be about ur opinion but hers is what matters for the test. She basically separates ALL people into 2 categories rich/white (evil) & poor/black (good) other than that the class is easy and she really tries to help you. I would take her again
The midterm exam was mostly to see whether or not you were in class, the questions were from the notes and the videos. the homework was easy overall. Some extra credit opportunities. The final is online open book/notes, but those won't help much if you don't study remember is a timed test. Dr. P was awesome, I couldn't stand one of her T.A.s
Very easy A!
This class is such an easy A!! I took her sociology class online. She offers SO MUCH extra credit and her quizzes are pretty much no brainers as long as you watch the videos.
SYP 300 Social Psychology - WARNING... Ms. Partin does NOT respond to emails (ever)!! She also does not post work in a timely fashion. There is abosolutely NO communication from her end. If you want a class where you can work ahead and at your own pace, do NOT take this class.
Intro.to Sociology was a great and vey easy class. She is extremely helpful and very entertaining. We barey used the textbook and her notes were exact. "EASY A"!!!
Tests and quizzes were really easy as long as you watched the lecture and filled out the slide show notes. No book. Lectures were redundant and inane. However, she NEVER, not ONCE answered any emails I sent or phone calls which frustrating because it is an online course.., Very aggravating.
No text book was a bonus. This class was cake! It was super simple. she doesn't respond quickly or sometimes at all but it is such an easy class, you may not need to contact her at all. Just do the assignments and turn it in on time. She give extra credit and grades more than generously! Great class. I highly recommend it!
Partin genuinely cares about her students so she tries to avoid assigning a text book, which would be expensive. I've taken her classes in person and online, she is straight forward and if you pay attention you will have no problem getting a high grade. For those people complaining about communication, go to office hours. Partin is awesome.
shes sweet and interesting, not a lot of note taking, easy tests, easy B or A
I took her class Spring 09, and it was the best class I have ever taken. She actually made me like Sociology so much I decided to minor in it. I'm taking another class with her Spring 10 and I can't wait. She is such a sweet teacher.
Great teacher, really understands students needs, everything is online, and notes are to be printed out and accompanied by VERY detailed, sometimes over explanatory online lectures. Easy tests, no book required, and no mid or final. Def take this class for easy, interesting A.
never answers emails and grades are not posted right away. fairly easy class, everything online, and printed notes available.
she is the teacher from heaven! I loved taking her class.
Took online class, p.pt notes were very helpful & she gives really great examples to help you understand the topic too. Doesn't always reply back to emails so be prepared if you have a question that you might need to find another way of getting an answer. Exams were based on notes & most of the questions made sense & some were really... confusing
Very good teacher and extremely easy class! Took it online and that's the best way to go for this class.
Book is a must, attendance is not. Some homework questions are from class but you can google around. Homework is from the book, so it's a must but it is extremely cheap. Christina is cute and kind of quarky and funny and has nice cleavage. Should be an easy A. BUT! the TAs grade the term paper and some are very strict. Watch out for that!
Very easy professor. . . almost feels like a high school class. She's very willing to help students and her grading (and the TAs grading) is very easy. Lots of extra credit. Lots of work to do, but you have to TRY to fail this class.
my favorite class. easy A. final exam online and I got a 99 on my term paper that I did in 3 hours. loved her. adorable
The class is very easy, in order to pass the test all you have to do is attend the test review!
Though a 3 hour class is terrible for short attention spans, you only need to half-pay attention, as long as you attend. I didn't read the book though it seemed fairly interesting, just look through the vocab words in the boxes. Really nice teacher, ALWAYS willing to help any student who asks. She makes the class really easy and helpful.
Dr. Partin is a great professor! She tries to make the subjects interesting for a 3 hour class. Her TAs are pretty dull though. Only problem is that she grades your only paper pretty tough, but tests are multiple choice and extremely easy. Final is online and can use notes!
Easiest class you can take for a social science credit. Lectures are interesting, tests are cake, term papers are graded leniently and if you can look up words in a glossary, then doing homework should be a breeze. And if on top of all of that you're still doing poorly in the class, she offers a great amount of extra credit throughout the class.
Sorry about my previous post. I accidentally gave her poor ratings, but everything mentioned in the comment box is my true opinion.
TAKE HER! TAKE HER! TAKE HER!!!! She's the best professor on this campus. She is such a sweetheart. I feel like she knows how students feel and know that they are very busy. I got a C on her exam and still got an A in the end. The T.A.'s are nice as well. Kind of boring unlike Ms. Partin. I went into her class scared and came out confident!
I am taking two of her classes right now and they are each 3 hrs long. Easiest and sweetest prof i have ever had . There is no way you can possibly get lower than an a in this class . the exams are word for word of the review .
Nice lady but extremely unhelpful when it comes to help outside the classroom. She ignores e-mails and is very unaccommodating when it comes to making up tests. She also tries to sneak homework assignments in on students during their spring break and other times during the semester with no other notice then blackboard. Overall I would not recommend
Yes, she is "sweet" and "easy", but she does not return communication attempts and admits that she is disorganized. She is ridiculously disorganized and has difficulty grading upon her own rubric. She is a master's level professor, lacks preparation and professionalism. She is always flustered and behind on grading and follow up with students.
Her class is great :) She covers topics that are controversial and the ones you don't think about as often! She does take a while to grade assignments HOWEVER if you have a basic understanding of the material you have nothing to worry about as far as grades :) She is very nice and she is always available (along with both TAs) before and after class
This teacher is so nice. She is almost too nice. She gives soo many extra credit opportunities and her tests are soooo easy. She gives homework but its short readings and easy too. Easy A if you go to class, because she doesn't use a text book only her class notes and she doesn't post them online.
Really nice lady. Her TA's were nice too. She was fun to listen to lecture because she's a funny lady. Kept it interesting. She's not very old, so it's easier for her to relate to the students. Tests required you to study, but they weren't hard. Two papers that I got 100's on.
she is awesome! i had her for intro to sociology and social problems & both classes were fun and easy. if you have a problem with assignments, she tries her best to help you out
Very nice! Interesting, fun, and easy! I did not buy the book because there is a copy in the library and i only used it when doing the homeworks (which you can take 3 times and she takes your best score). I would deff. recomend her :)
Ms.Partin is an AMAZING professor! She is super nice, and this class is really interesting! Its an easy A if you go to class. Two tests, and she does an in-class review right before the test. The second test is open book, online. I would highly recommend her!
Took her for both SYG 2010- Intro to soc and SYP 3000 Social Psych. Easy easy easy, almost feels like you right back in high school. Shes an overall nice lady and she gives pleanty of extra credit, understanding lady that gets college students have other classes and lives. Take her!
Easiest class I've taken in college. It was like I was back in high school. just print out the notes and fill in the blanks. I took her class online. SO SIMPLE. She's very nice teacher, sometimes unorganized, but understanding.
Do all of the work and you should have no problem getting an A. If you take the time (and not a whole lot is required) you should learn a lot. It's nice to take a class where you can learn a lot without killing yourself. I took this class online, and I highly recommend it.
I didnt buy the book..did well on my papers grades easy and will change ur paper grades if you explain yourself. NO attendance policy, take good notes and its an easy A
Fun, fun teacher! If you enjoy sociology and a conversational class this is the one for you! She is a little delayed in getting grades out, but if you did the assignment according to the rubric you have nothing to worry about!
Work 4 the class can be tedious, but not bad overall (video lectures are fun). The paper you have to write 4 this class is impossible to get an A on (parameters weren?t clearly defined and the grading not in context). Emails sent to her were never sent back; responses came from another professor helping w/ the class. Tests are timed @ 75 minutes.
Great class, really interesting and easy.
I've taken a few classes with her and she's amazing. She loves the subject and is knowledgeable about it. She definitely keeps the class interesting with topics that relate to us. She might be a little scatter-brained sometimes with her organization, but it just makes her that much more likeable in my opinion. She's really understanding and great!
This was by far the EASIEST class I've ever taken. there's a quiz (multiple choice) once a week taken straight from the lecture notes (which you print out and fill in the blank!) one paper at the end, but it wasn't very hard, and she gives a lot of time to work on it.
super easy, make friends and take the final online together! she gives extra credit so theres no way of not being able to get an A
This is my favorite class I've taken at USF. Partin makes the material interesting and relevant. Just watch the lecture and print out the notes (fill in the blank). Quizzes come straight from the notes. One paper at the end, but if you follow the step-by-step directions, you will get an A. Great class!
i took her for intro to sociology and it was a great class. lecture was at 9:40 on friday mornings so i hardly ever went. the mid term was pretty easy, the final is online, and the quizes are all online. it's an easy A if you do your work plus she's so sweet and interested in the topic, it's great to watch her teach. recommended for sure
Easy class, but still really interesting. Its not a big deal to skip class other than on the exams she does reference to videos she showed in class. There is weekly online homework that you can take up to 3 times. Only 2 tests and 2 papers. If you visit during office hours you'll for sure get an A on the papers. The final is online too!
I've taken all of her classes and she is THE BEST! She makes everything interesting and fun! I learned so much from all her classes!
I've taken every class of hers and love them all! She is so great and really makes all the subjects fun!
This class was so ridiculous; I could take this class in my sleep. The topics are really easy and so are the assigned readings. You have 2 exams and one 1500 word paper. You also have online assignments. Personally, she's kinda ditzy, but hey...this course is an easy A. I would take her again just for that simple fact!
She's such a lovely person and her class is really entertaining and easy. As long as you sort of vaguely study, you'll do fine. She makes sweet little jokes that just make me laugh. Her TA's were fun and lively like her. She's very personable and even though it's a huge class, she still makes time for class discussion and talks to everyone.
Easiest online class ever!! All you have to do is read a few chapters of books, watch the video with her teaching the material and take the quiz. Quiz questions come directly from notes and she lets you take them twice! Only one big paper and it is not hard at all! Would definitely recommend!!!
Easiest online class, but very interesting. Kind of combines 4+ psychology classes into one sociology class, but easy to follow along w/o prior knowledge. Easy paper, gave extra credit. I ended up with an A+ and spent maybe an hour a week on this class.
The BEST professor I've had yet at USF. The class is very interesting and not hard to comprehend at all. She is funny and makes class worthwhile. Unless you have a buddy in class, I suggest that you not miss too many lectures. Most of the material is common sense. 2 Tests, and 1 Paper. Gives extra credit in 2nd half of class so do not leave early.
Great teacher. She goes out of her way to help. If you do not understand you can go to office hrs which are really helpful. She tries to keep the class interested in her lecture by telling jokes & showing videos. If you go to class I'm pretty sure you will get an A. Two tests & a paper. TAKE HER! Made sociology very interesting.
Ms.Partin is an amazing teacher, take her class! She does everything she can to see that her students pass. My only advice would be to attend every class, because her tests are based off of the lectures. But the homework, tests, and paper are pretty easy, so as long as you put some effort into it, you should be able to make an A!
BEST TEACHER IVE HAD AT USF! She makes sociology fun and interesting. Skim thru the book but attend lectures! Study for the tests and put effort into the paper and you will get an A. Her T.A's lecture too and are SUPER boring. Got an A with some effort.
If you need a non-major upper-level course that you can take online in the summer, take this class! I learned a lot and it was very fair. One of the best college classes I've taken!
Ms. Partin was a great teacher. She is funny, kind, down to earth, practical, and a must take! Her assignments are simple and easy to do. She makes her class enjoyable and worth the time. The class was mostly lecture using a powerpoint. Overall I suggest it!
Professor Partin was ok. She took FOREVER to respond to your emails, she is kinda young so she's a little off track. EASY class though, take it online. You have weekly NOT TIMED quizzes and they are EASY, including her test. I took it over the Summer so Fall may be totally different.
Very Easy Online Class, print out all notes and you should be set for all exams. They are not timed. Easy A. Love Ms. Partin.
Awesome class so educational and it is kind of a palette cleaners if you have a hard semester. Great teacher, test are kind of difficult but she gives you ample time and resources to make the test easier.
I took her for introduction to sociology and contemporary social problems. She is just the easiest teacher ever. Take and you will get an A. sweet lady too. Only thing I hated was the fact that she went over common sense stuff like how to use blackboard lol, i guess it was for the freshmans.
From the reviews, you'll get a false impression of this teacher. Clearly, her teaching policies have changed: you cannot retake quizzes and tests ARE timed. I signed up for the classing liking psychology, I left hating it.
Easy online class. I only ever skimmed the chapters after watching the lectures online and still did well on the quizzes and tests. Sometimes quiz/test questions are worded vaguely but it's not a big deal. Overall easy class and semi interesting topics.
Ms Partin is so cute! She's the sweetest, funniest thing and I loved her class. You have to really try not to get an A in that class. There's a weekly assignment based on the readings that take no more than 15 minutes even if you didn't read then three 600 word essays that were very easily graded. I HIGHLY recommend her :)
Best teacher ever ! She is so nice and so helpful ! She is funny to! My favorite teacher !! Take any class with her !!!
BEST ONLINE COURSE EVER! I definitely recommend this professor! Weekly quizzes, few discussion boards, 2 exams, 1 paper, 1 small project. Easy course, great instructor. You will actually learn something about society! STRESS FREE & EASY A!
SHE'S GREAT! Interesting class, really nice professor. Love her. TAKE THIS CLASS!
She was a great teacher. Super helpful, very kind. Her class tended to border on too easy though. The tests are harder than the homework and class conversations but not impossible. If you attend class and do the homework, you'll excel. She enjoys teaching and it shows.
Overall easy class. She's not great at writing test questions and sometimes the correct answer will be marked wrong. She does give a lot of extra credit though so getting an A+ is still possible. Get the book, you'll need it. Weekly videos are boring.
Great professor! Has a great sense of humor and know how to make the topic interesting. This is a great course to take. It brings a lot to your attention. The homework assignments are easy, just skim the readings. Lecture is mandatory because most of the notes come from lecture discussion. Take this class you won't regret!
Social Psychology changed my life. I LOVED this class. I recommend it to everyone. Ms. Partin is absolutely wonderful. It was an online class but, she had videos with HER in them along with funny clips you could relate to. It's always nice to have a professor show their face in an online class...TAKE HER!!!!! A+++++
By far my favorite teacher of all time! Each lecture is very informative and interesting. She should be a comedian because she is so funny. Even the TA's are great. I had no prior interest in sociology until I took this class. My favorite professor EVER !!!!! Seriously, take this class :)
Easy A, but a little disorganized in this online class (or maybe her TAs were). Book was assigned to read, but hardly ever tested/quizzed on that material. Focus on the lectures tho they can be a little boring sometimes (might be more lively in a non-online class) . Doesn't feel like a 3000 level course, only take if a non-major for easy class.
Contemporary Social Problems. Great teacher. She is FUNNY!!! Class was a little disorganized, there were a few times when dates got pushed back or papers took too long to be returned but the class is so easy and she is so cool that it really doesn't matter.
GREAT TEACHER!! EASY A! She is also very funny and down to earth...her tests are piece of cake and so is the assignments. Very recomended!!
You have to attend her lectures because otherwise you will be rather lost with the material. She uses a "textbook" that is filled w/ interesting stories for the class, so it is not bad at all. She is very entertaining and uses interesting ways to lecture. Easy tests, papers, etc. Very recommended!
This was a great easy class to fill the FKL. Mrs. Partin is so nice and funny! Weekly hw assignments that require reading but are super easy, only one paper thats a page long. Info is easy and interesting to learn. I would recommend her!
Pretty easy class.Mine met once a week, kind of long lecture, but they try to keep it interesting. One synthesis paper, online homework assignments every week, able to take it twice, better grade accepted.Want to see you succeed.Would recommend.
The class is easy, but the teacher is rude. You will never speak to her personally unless you hound her. And if you ever miss an assignment she is not understanding what so ever. SHe requires a lot of reading. Its an easy B class not an easy A class. She shouldn't be an online teacher at all, but if you want an Easy B take her.
I loved this class! Not sure what the last person's problem was, but whenever I needed to talk to the prof I just emailed or walked over to her office. Even called & talked once. The class is hard, but she wants you to succeed & gives lots of resources to help. I had to work for my grade but I also learned a lot and decided to minor in sociology!
Great teacher! Very informative lectures and the quizzes and test were based on information learned without any or "trick" questions! Learned a lot and it was very interesting material!
Mrs. Partin is such a nice and funny professor. She is a push over and really takes the time to listen to the class about what we want, such as our final exam online with no essay. Weekly hw assignments that require reading but are easy. Only one paper, two pages double spaced. Three tests, two are online. Info is easy and interesting to learn.
The readings suck but there are questions from it in the quizzes and the tests. It was an easy class but you do have to do the readings if you want an A. I think if people think this class is hard then the are just being lazy. She tries to make the lectures interesting.
Ms. Partin is a fantastic teacher! Her online Social Psychology class is very interesting! There are weekly video lectures, assigned readings, some online assignments, online quizzes, and tests. Ms. Partin's lectures cover a variety of topics, and the info. is delivered in a fun and engaging manner! I would definitely recommend this instructor!
Loved Social Psych w/ Ms. Partin. Very interesting subject matter and her lectures are fun to watch. Quizes and test are straight from the lectures and book. Syllabus and expectations are clear and easy to follow through the semester. DEFINATELY take her classes when possible.
Very easy. They try to keep lectures interesting. There a homework based on the text every week. There are 3 tests. One syntheis paper. Attendance is mandatory because there are random participation points. She's a really cool teacher.44
Must go to class becuase for random participation point assignments. There is weekly HW that are really just questions that come from a book of short stories and articles. The HW is very easy. There are 3 tests the first and last ones are online. Tries to make the lectures fun but I honestly just did other HW during the lectures. Still got an A+.
Very interesting course and professor.I took it online.Try not not to miss the participation exercises which the dates aren't marked on the syllabus for. I missed my 1st one but luckily she gave some extra credit so that helped me. I learned a lot of interesting and applicable things and had fun even with it being an online course.Take this course!
Class was hard, but I loved it! She's really great.
This class was super interesting. I took it online so all you do is watch of her talking about the topic of that week and you do some online assignments. It was a really fun class and I looked forward to doing the assignments every week.
This Professor was great! Love the layout of the class, easy to follow syllabus and I learned more than I imagined I would! Liked the class so much I'm taking another with this professor this semester! Definitely recommend! Easy A!
Really great teacher, especially if you visit her during office hours. She will personally try to connect you with internship opportunities. You could literally sleep in class and get an A.
She is super nice. For the online classes, she records lectures and gives skeleton notes that you can print and fill out for the chapter. Quizzes are easy with no time limits. Tests are reasonable. Also, she adds videos of documentaries to some weeks when they pertain to the chapter. Go through all chapters in this intro class.
Great Professor, material is very interesting and she made it relevant and current. Would highly recommend this professor.
The class was very interesting just do online quizzes and watch the lectures. Everything is online! Professor is very helpful and clear of what she wants. Gives extra credit opportunities
She is my favorite professor at USF. So nice, helpful, and straight-forward. I have taken two classes with her so far, one online and one in person, and have thoroughly enjoyed both. Stay on top of your assignments and this should be an easy A for an upper elective course!
Really nice, helpful, and engaging. I'd take her class again!
Really interesting class. Weekly quizzes. 3 exams. All the material is right out of the 2 text books and notes. I would definitely recommend this class.
Very easy course, as long as you keep on top of it. She posts videos as lectures that are very helpful and interesting. Weekly quizzes and three tests. Use of textbook is a must for this class. I would recommend this class.
Class is super interesting and an easy A. She is very helpful and goes out of her way to explain what is expected. Easy and enjoyable filler class.
First of all, DO NOT BUY THE TEXTBOOK! You seriously do not need it. This class is the easiest A you will ever get at USF. But, if you ever are struggling, Ms. Partin and her team are super available and communicative, which is awesome for an online class. They give great feedback and want to see you succeed. This is a great class :)
What more can I add? Partin will spoil you with her great communication and investment as a teacher. Good luck trying to find this at USF elsewhere! Ha! jk :D Her class was well-organized, fascinating and the main reason I didn't leave USF after my first semester (Junior math/science transfer). How's that for a complement! :D
I go to Christina's class at the gym... and it is AWESOME! I couldn't believe when I realized she was a professor here too. I love her group fitness class so much, she is just fun and encouraging and she makes you feel like she really cares about you. I like her so much I'm trying to get into her sociology class next semester.
You have quizs due every week, but they only take about an hour of studying. The tests are straight forward, there are only three and the isnt a cumulative final. Only one paper and it's pretty easy if you're food at reading published articles. Easiest 3000 level class I've ever taken. Highly suggest taking it.
A lot of extra credit opportunities. The quizzes were no more than 10 questions and they all came from the slides. A couple of assignmentsresponses but they were easy. It's impossible to fail this class.
She is a wonderful teacher. Her class is super easy as long as you actually try to read the material. She has at least 15 Modules. They all have videos of her better explaining the textbook. Our quizzes were open book and untimed. But our tests were 75 minutes but still open-book. It's impossible to fail if you put effort into the class.
SHE IS AWESOME! Course is very clear cut. There are a lot of assignments, but they are all very easy. Definitely an easy A. She and her team are very helpful, although it does take them a while to put grades in because the class is so large. Nevertheless, this is a great course with a great professor.
Ms. Partin is a good lecturer and provides a lot of great information in her lectures. She is extremely clear in what she expects. It's not hard to get an A, but some of the quiz questions are subjective. When you explain the problem with the questions, she never responds to her email. I've only gotten emails from her TA's, which was disappointing.
She is one of the coolest professors I've ever had. Being an online class, the quizzes were very easy and there is an entire website dedicated to her quiz questions and the answers to those questions. The material is simple and interesting if you get into it. Very easy class.
Two exams, and writing assign. Super easy quizzes from lecture videos. ALL test questions are examples from her lecture videos, so its easy to get 100 if you listen to videos. Some questions are subjective, so pay attention to what she says. TAs are really helpful and will look over your work before you submit it. Extra credit given
Did not enjoy this class at all, but this prof's easy quizzes and straightforward tests almost made up for having to sit through the Marxist, feminist, Queer perspective on this or that (with a lot of uninteresting terminology thrown in, like "group"). Do have to watch lectures to do well on tests. Be careful with papers, as TAs grade, not her.
I took this class ONLINE. It wasn't too bad. Her lecture videos were very interesting and I actually learn a lot from this class. 3 exams, weekly quizzes, critical thinking activities, 1 assignment paper. You do have to read from textbook. Exams are not too bad. But quizzes, critical think activities, assignment paper are pretty easy. A for sure.
She's a really nice lady, very laid back and understands the college struggle. Tries hard to keep class entertaining and she is very funny. Material is easy and there are only 2 tests, one of which, the final, is online. This is my second time taking her for a Sociology class and I would recommend her.
Weekly 8 question quizzes based mostly on the lecture videos. The other questions come from both books assigned for the class. There were 3 exams and 5 critical thinking activities (Not too hard). A few extra credit opportunities and she even threw in some "funky points" for confusing test questions. Take this class.
Weekly quiz. buy the skeleton notes book for $13 used for online video lectures, material from this lecture is on quizzes. 5 critical thinking assignments (1-2 paragraphs related to that weeks topics. Plenty of extra credit opportunities. Her video lectures can be a bit long but they're still very good. Course is well organized & structured.
Took the class online and it was so easy. The tests aren't like the quizzes because they are more practical and case studies. The test were open book as were the quizzes so if you study and reference pages of the book for quick access, the tests will be a piece of cake.
Great professor, goes over PowerPoints which is everything you need for the test, only 2 exams. always willing to help and gives extra credit. there is also homework for the chapters each week but it is easy or can be found online. dont skip class because she has critical thinking assignments which credit is given in class only!!
Partin is super nice and incredibly helpful. Had her for Intro to Sociology and is probably the best professor to teach it. You must do a couple of papers, which are simple but are graded strictly according to the rubric. If you try hard and show up to class, it will be hard not to pass with a good grade. The subject is interesting too.
Definitely the best professor I've had at USF so far. She is helpful whenever she can and goes above and beyond for her students. She makes sure to include activities and videos in class which make the class even more interesting than it already is. There's two exams which are easy to prepare for and two short essays. Great professor!
Read the chapters and pass, no studying was involved.
One of the best professors I've had, enjoyed her so much I took her again for other classes in my major. She really cares about students and does her best to be helpful and makes things interesting and enjoyable.
I took the class online and it was set up into Modules, 1 per week. Quiz were from powerpoints WORD FOR WORD. Exams had examples from lecture and book. So book notes are for exams, multiple choice. Easy assignments and quizzes, exams easy too if you read book. I would take her classes again for easy A, and I did learn some stuff too, which is nice
I thought she was a really good teacher and she knew what she was talking about. Most of the quizzes come from the book so you really don't even need to go to class to pass, apart from the critical thinking days.
She was a really great professor. She clearly enjoys her work and subject and truly cares for her students and their success. All concepts are in the textbook and sometimes taken verbatim from there. So you need the text book and need to attend the days they do activities.
easy class. almost to easy....
Prof is super nice however she hardly actually teaches. The syllabus wasnt even made or posted for almost a month after classes started. The class is pretty much a waste of time except for critical thinking activity grades (which are basically pop ups but super easy).
Christina was a very sweet teacher. However, I feel like the class was a waste of time. We barely learned anything, had a couple of paper, and a few in-class assignments. She lectures but stays on one term for the whole class, and it feels pointless. The nice part about the class was how easy it is, and tests were online.
Prof Partin really cared about her class and was genuinely happy to be teaching. There wasn't much of an organized course layout, but it didn't matter as the work was not too demanding and she was always available for any extra help you needed or questions you had. Class discussion was interesting and relevant, and I always looked forward to it.
Expected a lot because of the great reviews about her, was totally dissatisfied and frustrated with her.
She has no clear grading criteria on Canvas. Gives a paragraph of example for a paper that's multiple pages. You have to ask her questions in person to actually understand assignments.
Professor Partin is so sweet and caring, the entire class was fun and learning the material was so interesting
She is very disorganized. She would post assignments at the last minute, or not even post them at all. She would tell the class that she would have grades posted by a certain time and they would never get posted. Most of the classes were just us watching videos. The exams would have content that she never covered in class and wasn't in the book.
This professor is very sweet and she knows how to make the class interesting, but with four TAs it should have been easier to keep up with posting assignments. Shes very mellow and easy to talk to, but the lag with posting assignments was the only drawback. Overall a very knowledgeable professor though and I would take a class with her again.
She is a very sweet and caring professor, however that does not make up for the lack of effort she put into the course. She was very late uploading grades and assignments, and said she would do things that she would end up never doing. The classes and lectures were interesting though.
Professor Partin is recalls sweet and loves teaching sociology. I actually loved this class and was thinking about minoring. Im a science major so it was nice to have an easy class I enjoyed coming too. If you can take her. Shes a tad disorganized but didnt really bother me. Shes very sweet and caring.
This class had intriguing material. I only wished it were more organized. By the time we reached finals week (May), we were on the material that was to be completed beginning of March. She just went lax on posting the modules. Given how far behind we were, we only completed 2 papers & 2 exams & 6 assignments & several quizzes. Get it together
I had a great time in her class. She made learning the material fun and interactive.
If you are an organized person who likes to know due dates and be on time, do not take her classes. She was two weeks late in posting the modules online and does not respond to emails. At the last week of classes she tried to cram everything in that she has missed herself, into one week. There are writing assignments that are busy work.
Absolutely loved this class! The workload was not too heavy, and the material was more than interesting. Dr. Partin is incredibly understanding, kind and flexible. The tests and quizzes are not too hard. I made it through the semester without a textbook because she is kind enough to upload pdfs of the text. Must take
Dr. Partin is relatable & does online lectures, which I liked. However, she repeatedly posted assignments late. I could never rely on her to post modules when she said she would. She takes forever to grade assignments so I don't have an idea of what my final grade will be. Its annoying.
She was late posting some modules but always gave plenty of time to do them. Easy weekly quizzes, interesting material, and one 850-ish word paper. Upper level elective with an easy A and a nice professor. What more could a student want?
The over all course was ok but the test were tricky.
Basic for the type of 3000 levels class, module, test, papers, quizzes and some extra credit but be aware not easy course.
I really liked the content of this class. I went to her office hours and she was nicer than I even expected. She helped me study for the tests and she even helped me go over my paper draft to make sure I was on the right track before I turned it in. Go see her in office hours if you have questions, she really helped me a lot! A+
Dr. Partin is truly an all-around sweetheart that will pretty much try her hardest to help you pass. I ended with a 98% despite having not shown up to class a few times. She assigns short Canvas quizzes and a couple papers, nothing too extensive. I would recommend showing up for her lectures though - she's so interesting and clearly passionate.
If you're looking to get an A, this class is easy. However, professor Partin does not read or respond to emails, is difficult to get in touch with, and waits till the last minute to submit grades. You will not know your accurate grade during the semester. This class was easy, but she made it unenjoyable.
The class was very easy and you shouldn't get lower than an A with minimal effort. However the one flaw is that Ms. Partin waits until the last possible minute to grade assignments. For a easy class like this one, it not really too much trouble but it can be a little annoying.
Doesnt respond to emails/texts, increasingly late opening readings/assignments, grades unavailable until end. DISAPPOINTING, course NOT college level. Peers claim same issues in previous semesters. Easy A, assignments require little to no effort, 3 tests (gave full credit for 1-she was too far behind) & short paper. Not what I expected at USF.
I really liked the content of the class. It was online from the beginning but she was really nice to us when coronavirus closed campus. I had to move out of my dorm and there was a lot of stress, even though this class didn't change, per say, she cared about us and went out of her way to adjust the class to minimize stress on us. I appreciated it!
Easy grader, but she is always late to release assignments. You can never get in contact with her, and she always forgets to do stuff. The class is easy tho. She gave the whole class 100 on test 2 bc she forgot about it and wanted to lessen our load.
A wonderful professor! She offers a lot of extra credit at the end of the semester. She does take a long time to grade assignments, but all of the assignments are so easy it's a guaranteed A. The lectures are older videos she has recorded, and they're pretty nice and engaging! I did watch at 1.5x speed though. Very sweet! Would def have her again.
Didn't use a textbook because she provided the online readings and we printed out notes to follow along with the video lectures. Do the notes and listen to her lecture and you'll pass the quizzes and exams! The essays are easy, just make sure you do work ahead of time. She graded some assignments late though
She does have the tendency to grade things late but it honestly isnt a huge deal because all of the assignments are really straightforward and easy to complete. Even for a condensed summer class, it wasnt too much to take on. Definitely one of the easiest 3000 level classes I have taken.
Class is easy, however Dr. Partin was not helpful whatsoever. She didn't answer any of my emails and would forget to upload assignments and grade them incorrectly. She also likes to cram assignments at the last minute. For example, she normally assigned 1 quiz a week. Midterm and finals week, however, two papers, a quiz, and test were assigned.
Dr. Partin's lectures were very good, in my opinion. However, she lacks in communication. She never answered my questions, even when I asked Student Academic Services to contact her.
Lectures are really interesting and assignments aren't too hard. Partin is a really good lecturer but isn't accessible outside of class. She is disorganized, and grades everything at the last second. Overall, it's ends up being okay because she's really nice and your grade will probably be fine. I just wish grading was more timely.
The class had 3 tests, 12 quizzes, and 3 writing assignments. The lectures are interesting and not too long. The class is fairly simple and easy. The only issues are that sometimes the instructions are not clear, and she grades late. I didn't have an issue, but it could mess up your schedule. She gave plenty of EC. It's an interesting class.
Not only did Professor Partin go completely dark on us for a good half of the semester, but she consistently made errors in terms of due dates and submissions, often posting our actual assignments one to two days before they were due. She also uploaded zero material to our course during drop/add week, so students could not get reimbursed.
Easy class, recommend for an elective. One of the assignments was to assign a fictional character MBTI types.
Easy A. Did not read the textbook compared to my peers and studied the day of the exam. Two attempts on quizzes every week, grades easy, tests were partially from the quizzes. You don't need a textbook she provides the PDF for you. I heard it takes a while for her to answer emails though. Took it for an upper elective, easy!
Easy class. SO HARD TO REACH PROFESSOR. She sucks at responding to emails, publishing modules and assignments, and giving feedback. The MOST inconsistent instructor I have ever had. If you don't care about that kind of stuff then it's a super easy class. The material and assignments are actually interesting and thorough. It's just always late.
Lectures were prerecorded and lacked quality but she made up for it with content because she extensively elaborated on subjects and provided several examples to explain content. Everything was open notes and tests were not cumulative, projects were overall not difficult. However, she tended to be unresponsive to emails and posted modules late.
I really enjoyed her class. Lectures were good and interesting, assignments weren't very hard if you pay attention, and she covers a lot of cool topics. Solid choice.
Dr. Partin is wonderful! You can really tell she is passionate about what she teaches and she explains topics very well. I took her during Summer A online and her class was great. Not too much work either. There are short quizzes, small writing assignments, three tests, and one bigger writing project. Highly recommend taking her SYP 3000 class!
Dr. Partin was horrible. I tried contacting her many times, yet received no response. 2 days before the end of the year, she crammed soo many assignments. The guide was heavy on the things NOT on the test. The final had content I had never seen before. The exam was open notes and book. I was convinced she didn't care about class or her students.
Honestly, she's not bad, but I took her over the summer and she posted EVERYTHING late. She requires you to buy the textbook but I found it online for free pretty easily (don't give up and don't pay). I took her online, but I loved it, the book is super good and this class is a must take.
This professor doesn't post assignments or send out announcements on canvas. online class with zero instruction. the due dates do not match the syllabus and everything seems to get pushed back. assignments will still not be posted by the due date that is on the syllabus, and will not respond to emails regarding unposted assignments.
It was an online class and the first module wasn't even posted until 3 weeks into the semester, she had posted a total of 8 modules by the 14th week of classes and just posted 6 modules within the last few weeks of the semester and the final exam all at the same time...Modules getting pushed back all semester, didn't ever match the syllabus.
This professor never answers her emails, and she has only communicated with the class twice this semester. The last time she sent out any communication was in September. She also does not show up to her office hours. She forgets to post the assignments and is now piling multiple assignments before the semester ends, which is frustrating.
Professor Partin's class is a solid choice - lectures are engaging, assignments aren't too difficult, and the material is quite interesting. Unstuckstudy AI was a huge help for study prep. Just be ready for some late module postings and occasional unresponsiveness to emails.
She is very disorganized with assigning homework and grading. She does not reply to any of her students if they ask for help. The course itself is easy but not an ideal online course I would take again given the lack of communication and messy structure.
This was the easiest class I have ever taken, great GPA booster.
The class was very easy and interesting. The professor was not accessible by email and would frequently not publish the modules that our assignments were under or the files that required readings were in. There was no way to get in contact with her as emails would go into the void.
