Dislikes people who seem to know more about computers, exam easier than expected

She is very helpful, makes the assignments clear
good prof, very helpful and clear
Really helpful outside of class... and yes, she is HOT!!!
She's very helpful, and should teach more e-commerce stuff
Really good and nice prof - highly recommended
believe it people, u'd be committing a crime skipping her class

Okay, as long as she is not confronted with questions outside the realm of the materials presented in class.

seems new but brings a refreshing entheusiasm to her classes
Cannot answer questions about programming.
The most remarkable teacher I've ever met, truly teaches the material and makes programming seem possible. And what everyone says is true! She's the hottest teacher I've ever had.

I do not think she can answer questions outside of class.
Is always available to answer questions out of class. Very helpful.
HOT! Very helpful. Goes through assignments and how to do them! Must be in this class!

I had never seen code for a program in my life before 'Hello World!'. And now? I'm planning on going into a carreer in computer science. Best. Prof. EVER.
Best ever
pretty cute as far as profs go, which is the only reason i didn't skip this class entirely. its very easy, especially if you've ever programmed before. or maybe its just cuz i'm so smart...
Better suited for high-school, Ms. Penner's teaching style is too personal for large university classes.
Dr. Penner is an excellent prof. She is very clear and understandable. When I went to her for help she was very helpful and if I had any other prof for this course I would have done much worse. She understands how it is to program for the first time. Also as a bonus she quite attractive.

the perfect instructor for 74.304, the class was alright too!
It's true that she's hot but she's a really good teacher for programming too. I didn't know anything when we started and she was good at helping students like me.
An awesome instructor and qualifies as one on many levels. A+ for effort, clarity, friendliness and approachability. She genuinely cares about her students and their success in the course. In a nutshell, if you've never coded before and you're a little uncomfortable about the idea, take it with her.
After taking her class, I have no complaints. She's a pretty good prof, and is similar to a high school teacher in her style. To all you people who have never programmed before, take her class. Super nice and tries extra hard to explain the tough parts. All in all, a good prof.
Fun relaxing class with knowledgeable instructor. She enjoys teaching those who are interested and does not take crap from students. She enjoys her work and it shows, responds to her emails usually the same day and always smiles. A pleasure to have as a prof. Now if people could get over her looks.

i suggest you should go to this prof`s class
i hate computers and thought this class would be hell, but it wasn't at all. it was really easy and she explains everything really well
Interesting class discussions, and all assigned material was fair. A lot of reading though. Very helpful outside of class with the final paper too.
Awesome prof. If you like talking a lot this is the class to take. I warn you however, there are a lot of reading material.

She is an awesome pro. Just like someone said , She is hot. In her class you also can learn a lot of stuff.
good teacher in general
Yep, good teacher, good class, shes dope :)
Very clear and professional, good teacher. Definately has the eyes of all the boys in the class, but doesn't overdo it. She knows her stuff, and if you've taken some coding before, this class is super easy. Highly recommended!
Awesome Prof! If your going to take 074.101, get her. She teaches very well and makes it easier to understand the concepts.
shes good, but the course sucks
Chrstina is a geat prof and I really enjoyed her class. Her classes are fun and friendly and so it she. I'm going to take another class with he because I really enjoyed this one. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PROF!!!

Great teacher overall as some of you pointed out she's hot :D. Her style of teaching is awesome she practically does the assignment for you if ur in class choose her if u thinking about comp usage
An excellent professor with a great attitude towards all students. During her Office hours, she does not hesitate to help you with any problem you have with the course. As someone who was an aweful writter before this class I can say that I see a dramatic improvement in my writting abilities.
Yes, she is good looking (Especially beside the geeky, ugly old men in the department) but she is kept on staff for other reasons to. Take 304 with her. If you don't you're an idiot. Her notes are well layed out and he is really there to help. Her actual comp sci skills are up in the air, but her writing is solid

Alright prof. Kinda boring in my opinion. Found it difficult to pay attention. A little ditzy and wasn't the most punctual. Preferred the classes when Al subbed in, felt I was learning more
Tries to make sure that everyone understands what's going on in class. Like all of the review. Very organized and helpful outside of class. Didn't believe that she was as hot as she turned out to be. I liked Al too but liked Christina's teaching style better.
I often found myself waking up to the sound of everyone leaving the classroom, but I think it was just because I'd learned all the material in computer science 30S. She explains everything really slowly and repetitively, so she's really good for people with little or no programming knowledge. She's enthusiastic too.

not so great in the teaching department...i did alot of learning on my own... but in the hotness departpent im pretty sure ppl go into computer science because of her

Meh, not impressed. Has little time for students and is not always punctual, which is interesting considering she won't accept assignments that are little late.
She's okay, but teaches University computer science like we're primary school students, using childish humour and childish programming examples. She does nothing to inspire students on the subject.
The only thing that kept me getting up at 7am to get to class was her!!! theres nothing wrong with her teaching.....but jeeze louiseeeee....for her age shes rocking. <3
She's a pretty good teacher, but I don't really thing you need anyone to guide you through this course (unless you are really stupid). But other than that you must go to her class because you 'll never see a professor as hot as Penner ever again if you continue on to comp sci.
She's a really cool teacher and very approachable when you need help. You can tell she truly is passionate about programming and she's inspiring in her teaching.
good teacher, better than my 1020 teacher, if i had her for that i think i would have stayed in computer science
Splendid!
I had Prof. Penner for Comp 1010 and she was amazing. I had no programming experience going into the course and her passionate and patient teaching style made the course a lot of fun and relatively easy. Some of her T.A.'s aren't quite as fantastic though.
She is a terrific prof. This course is meant for students who have little or no programming experience, and for people complaining its too easy, you CAN bypass it and go into 1020 directly so its your own fault. She's great looking and a pleasure to learn from. Easily recommendable.
OMG hot! Shes an amazing teacher! best class ever! I found it very easy to pay attention to every word she said. Never did any Computer stuff before but I went to every class did a lot of practice and I got an A+.
By far the best professor I've ever had! Even if you have no interest in computer science take it with Christina as an elective if you don't need it for your degree. She's fantastic and the course is interesting, hands on and not sinfully boring like most of the stuff we have to take!
Great teacher. The true definition of beauty and brains. I had zero knowledge and experience with computer programming but I got A since Christina presents her lecture very simple and interesting. She's not judgmental, if you're having problems, just ask her, or you can email her, she always responds quickly and nicely.
she is the best looking prof i have ever had at UM. comp 1010 was just fun to go to. plus she gave treats at the end of the sem. FUN.
Great lectures, even though the material was very simple I enjoyed listening to her lectures.
The best word to describe Christina is PHENOMENAL! She is an excellent teacher and she genuinely cares a lot about her students. The work was easy as long as you read the material. She's very intelligent and open to hearing everyone's opinion. She's also an author, and her book is fantastic. Definitely one of the best profs I've ever had.
Christina is, hands down, my favourite prof at the U of M. I would recommend her for any course but I especially enoyed her for 3620 - her teaching style really suited the material. As long as you read the course material and somewhat pay attention in class you'll do very well. Seriously though, she's the best!
LASTING IMPRESSION!!! i looked her up on ratemyprof first before joining her class. i wasn't at all suprised. everyone's comment about her is without a doubt, true. i am not a comp-sci major but she makes me wish i had the capacity to be one. she makes something complex enjoyable. U of M is lucky to have such individuals of her caliber.
SHE'S AWESOME
Extremely pleasant, very passionate about her field. Extremely helpful. Really really good prof.
Great prof, really passionate about her field. Easy to talk to and easily accessible after class. Before this class I had no experience with computer science, but now she has really gotten me into it. Highly recommended.
She is amazing. Loud, smart, funny, nice to look at and listen to. Class is very difficult.
Christina is a great prof. Very helpful and knowledgeable about the subject matter, makes you feel very welcome and is always a pleasure in office hours. Best 1010 prof available, take her class.
She's really nice, always willing to help and clearly excited about her field of work. The course itself is quite easy as long as you do the readings and keep up with the lectures. She became sidetracked quite easily and did not follow the standardized course slides. This often made preparing for tests more work than otherwise necessary.
Great professor, a little tough to focus sometimes because she is so beautiful and enchanting
My favourite prof at the U of M. Very interesting discussions and projects in class. She is very passionate about what she does and very helpful in and out of class.
She is the best professor ever. Why? Because she is caring first of all, patient, very good at teaching, has awesome style and sense of humor (a little bit geeky) which is fine. :D She's seriously such a sweetheart and I will miss her next term! :) Seriously take it with her she's the best!
She is very passionate about technology and her lectures were quite interesting. Very easily approachable, the class is easy but she actually made it bearable. Wonderful human being who genuinely cares about her students.
Super nice, easy to understand. If your taking comp1260, get the class with her. The only thing is her lectures are extremely dull and boring, especially if your taking the course to boost your gpa. She will go over the most pointless, things that one would assume are almost common sense.
Christina Penner is such a kind and accommodating prof. I took COMP 1260 with her last winter. She really cares about the success of her students. She gave all kinds of bonus i-clicker marks for those who regularly attended class. And she does all the assignments in class.
good prof.
She is the best instructor I met in U of M.
I recommend taking this course and having this professor. The class discussions are very relevant and interesting. Christina engages the class and invites class participation. If you are interested in learning about the social implications of the Internet and its technology, the course material will hold your interest.
Very easy A. Except that the exam is worth 50% and was verh difficult. Christina is very sweet and does her best to make the class interesting and exciting. The assignment were super easy.
Amazing prof with a passion for computer science. Her enthusiasm makes the class fun. Quizzes are based on things done in class so make sure to attend to pass them. Took this class for science credit but am now looking at it as a major.
Fun prof, fun prof. HIghly recommend.
Memorable Prof. Love her.
During a time that was dark for me, Prof was def a shining light. The assignments were easy and the tests were easy but used as tools to LEARN the course material. I honestly feel like what I learned was invalueable AND I technically learned it on my own. She gives LOTS of resources that you constantly need to refer back to. Best prof Ive had ever.
95+ for an A+, 80 for a B+. Ridiculously many questions for quiz. Avoid her at all cost
Christina cares for the well-being of her students and is willing to compromise. My biggest gripe is that she can be naive at times regarding human behaviour/students' interests: she did not anticipate fallout when discussing a politically controversial topic, she expected peer feedback to be unbiased even though that is a conflict of interest, etc
Christina is caring. She began every class with a "how are you" poll and was open minded and kind. The feedback was given as an audio recording which was nice. Many of the articles we were supposed to read were heavily emotionally driven and politically motivated. She stated some things as fact (loosely supported) that I would disagree with.
Christina was absolutely lovely. She is one of the few professors I feel actually cares for her students. The assigned readings were well selected and the format of group discussion led to an excellent learning experience. I only wish either that the quizzes were weighted less compared to the written assignments, or the grade cutoffs were lower.
She is simply THE BEST PROFESSOR of the University of Manitoba. More than a professor, she is a great human being. She loves her students and cares about them. She put so so so much effort to her teaching. Take any course with her. She is the best. Again, SHE IS THE BEST
The course name seemed boring, but it turned out great. Christina was a fantastic teacher, really caring and the best I've had. She helped us focus on our future, not just our grades. There were workshops with past students and expert talks, teaching us about much more than just coding, which is really important for us who are about to graduate
Even though this course has lots of reading and essays you need to complete, Christina is probably the best instructor that I have ever had. She gets you to think beyond the course content to make you a better computer scientist and person overall. She is also very caring as she would start off most classes by asking everyone how they are feeling.
Creates a very comfortable environment in the class, making it easy to learn.
She was a very good prof!
I did not like this class because of how much reading/writing there was, but I would say that she was probably the perfect fit for this class. She's very aware and conscientious of the topics that are covered and it shows through her teaching.
We had a lot of in class activities and quizzes at the end of the week. The class was pretty interesting and easy to follow. The professor is brilliant and very helpful, she makes the class fun.
While the course had a lot of reading and writing, Professor Penner was an excellent instructor who really cares about her students. She encouraged critical thinking and helped us grow as computer scientists. Unstuckstudy was a great study aid alongside the course materials.
She was good at capturing interest. She generally tries to maintain a positive outlook, and you can tell she wants you to do well in the course. She will sometimes sidetrack for 1-2 min, but she's overall got the course down pretty well, and she's a good speaker. I would retake her.
Maybe the best instructor at the university. Instructor Penner should be the bar that everyone else is held to. She cares a lot about her students, her lectures are super engaging, and the quizzes are very constructive and very fair. I don't think anybody could do better teaching this course, she is super passionate about it!
Christina Penner is a decent instructor and she clearly cares about her students. She tries too hard to incorporate AI into the course which ruined it for me, but other than that it is a great course and she taught the material well. There are lots of long videos assigned for homework, and they're all testable - so watch out for that.
