Shes a really nice professor. Everything you need to know comes from what you learn in class, no need to read the book. Shes extremely helpful and if you go to see her, she will work through the homework problems with you. The class will be easy if you go and take notes, thats where all ghe tests and homeworks are derived from.
you have to go to class because she doesn't use the textbook. you can pretty much guess what is going to be on the tests based on the problem sets and examples she does in class. she is very helpful outside of class during her office hours. 231 is not an easy class but she is probably the easiest out of them all. she is also pretty hot
Her micro class wasn't bad. Weekly problem sets that don't take too long. You take 3 reasonably easy tests and she drops one. I saw another prof's tests and they looked more difficult. The cumulative final is pretty hard though. She's helpful in office hours. She goes over everything in class, so you don't need the book.
Very interesting class and relevant to the current Health Care situation in our country. Class is comprised of approx 6 reasonable problem sets, 2 midterms, presentation, paper, and a final. You must come to class to do well but it is engaging.
Definitely take Professor Renhoff for Microecon...she is by far the best option! Lectures may drag on, but her tests are fairly easy, and she is very helpful in office hours! She genuinely wants to know her students' names also, which is refreshing in a large lecture class.
The final exam is much much harder than the homework or the midterms.
I love Prof Renhoff! She is so sweet and genuinely cares about her students. I'm not a stats/math/econ person at all, and I still did fairly well in this class because she was always willing to help. Also, she let us use formula sheets on all of our tests/exams which was great!
Professor Renhoff is tied with Buckles for best Econ professor. It is the one class where I don't feel the urge to pull out my laptop because it is interesting and engaging. If you go to class, you don't have to study that much for the tests, but you still learn a lot. Definitely take Health Econ with Renhoff!!!
Professor Rennhoff is very sweet and helpful. Doesn't give out a lot of As and A+s but more A-s and below. Very engaging and a good professor. I recommend taking her class!
Professor Rennhoff really sparked my interest in health care. She is so sweet and very helpful! Learned a lot! Workload is manageable and readings are very easy to get through. If you put effort into papers, you can definitely get an A/A- on them. Participation is 25% and an easy A.
Really sweet woman. Her lectures are crystal clear; repeats everything multiple times, everything goes on the board, etc. My only complaint was with some of the test questions; I felt like I knew the material incredibly well before each exam, but would sometimes get B's because of ambiguously-worded T/F questions.
So helpful and nice, her class was the best I've taken. She's extremely helpful and good at teaching the material and class is pretty easy. She's also a dime piece
She explains health care in the US and internationally in a very clear, unbiased way (particularly important for me, as an ultra-Conservative). Class was 4 essays and a final (nothing too difficult). I would definitely take her for whatever class you can!
I don't know how anyone can say this is an easy class. While yes, she teaches the material very well, is helpful during office hours, and is a great professor, none of that matters when every single one of her exams asks questions you could not possibly have prepared for, no matter how hard you studied or how much work she put in. Not a fair class.
50 point tests are killer, one mistake and you got a B.
Rennhoff is an excellent professor. You really learn material well, and she is super clear in class. There is little to no outside work, and quizzes are a joke. However, her tests are very difficult. The class is fair, but the time constraints are a killer and most students think their grades don't reflect how much they know.
Her healthcare policy class is pretty easy. Go to class, write down the notes on the board, and know how to do the in-class questions, and you should be good to go. The tests cover a lot of material, but it's mostly memorizing things from your notes. She's really nice, and the lectures are interesting if you get into the material they cover.
The exams are not hard, but 50 for total test grade makes you easily go below A.
Tests are exactly like the study guide she gives you. Final is not cumulative. Pretty solid Econ elective. Easy A- but for some reason an A is a 94%.. Pop quizzes once a week but you do them as a group.
I hate Econ, but I loved this class. Very interesting and nothing too intense in terms of econ or math. 3 non-cumulative exams, a group presentation, and some in-class questions (basically pop quizzes). A little hard to get an overall A (94) b/c the exams are out of 50 and she grades the presentations more harshly, but an A- is very doable.
Very interesting and useful class, especially if have any interest in HC system. So sweet and helpful. If you study for the tests, attend class (for in class questions), and have a good project, easy to get an A/A-.
Prof. Rennhoff is a good lecturer, which is important because the course material is pretty much 100% lecture-based. Attendance is essential. Her 2350 class is a solid applied econ class, learned a fair amount. Tests weren't difficult, but you need a 94 for an A. Text isn't really used. Rennhoff lived up to her reputation of being a good prof.
Don't buy the book, you won't need it. This is an econ class in which 100 on an exam is attainable simply by attending and studying lecture. The material is interesting, and it helped me get acquainted with simple health care terms and learn about HC policy history. Rennhoff is very clear, writes everything on the board, and is very nice. Do take!
89% of the final grade was based on three three non-cumulative tests. They were pretty easy after going to pretty much every class and taking decent notes. No homework. Group project worth 5% of the grade. Pretty good prof and easy class, but don't screw up the tests.
Easily the best micro prof at Vandy. Rennhoff explains things very clearly, to the point where I almost felt like the material was being dumbed down, but she's one of the only professors I had who presents practice problems in class and then forces you to work them out on your own - it's super useful. Make sure you do the hw to understand concepts
Professor Renhoff tries her hardest to make sure that everybody gets the content. The tests are straightforward and mostly multiple choice, along with a free response question. Although the homework in this class is optional, it's a good idea to do it. If you're going to pick an intermediate micro teacher, Prof Renhoff is by far the best choice.
Professor Rennhoff is pretty straight forward. Class is easy enough as long as you keep up with the class and don't get too far behind. Lectures are really helpful so you don't need to read the textbook. There are quizzes most weeks, but they are pretty easy and she tells you beforehand.
1.) while she may be very nice and explain things in class it does not correlate to what you are tested on or even given practice problems for 2.) math based and a decent amount of calculus and equation solving, micro tends to be boring not as cool and relatable as macro 3.) you won't use this stuff in any business job lol unless u become an econom
There were only three exams, weight 89%. 5% goes to presentation and 5% goes to in-lass question. Each exam has 50 point, so if you lose 1 point on the exam, you lose 0.6% of your course grade. As a result, it is really to get a B. Also, she takes points off easily. Be aware, arguing with her is a waste of your time, she won't give points back.
I really like Dr. Rennhoff. She is incredibly sweet and knowledgeable! ECON 2350 is not difficult if you attend every lecture and take good notes. The tests are detailed, but you just have to write down everything she writes on the board. Dr. Rennhoff is very clear and very caring about all of her students.
GREAT professor. I am not particularly interested in Health Care but she made the subject really interesting. The class is relatively easy within the econ department, but felt by far the most worthy of coming to class and listening of any ECON class I have taken so far. Professor Rennhoff is great, and makes the concepts extremely clear.
Dr. Rennhoff is by far the best Econ professor I have taken at Vanderbilt. She is very clear and explains things really well. She is very good at helping you understand the basics. She makes you work on problems in groups in class which was annoying, but that strategy actually helped me so much. Final is definitely harder than the two midterms.
Best I've had in the Econ department. Her lectures are super clear and she's very kind and approachable. The grading was exam-heavy but exams weren't very difficult if you did the practice problems she posted. Not a ton of work. Highly recommend.
Go to every lecture and you won't need the text book. Quizzes are easy points, tests are relatively straight forward. Great professor.
She is the sweetest, cutest professor ever! Very easy, as long as you show up to class, take notes on everything, and do the homework/questions provided. Quizzes every week, but are based exactly on homework and she lets you ask questions on it before taking. Gives a question bank for each exam. She tries to learn everyone's name, will call on you.
Quizzes every week are easy bc she gives the q's ahead of time. Question bank for exams so if you do those you will do very well. Super nice professor. Definitely one of the best econ professors in the department. Dont need textbook, especially if you listen in class. Sometimes offers extra credit for going to class
She is a great lecturer and while an A is a 94%, if you do the work, a good grade is definitely possible. Make sure you go to the review sessions held by TAs before exams & take good notes in class. Don't buy the book
Don't be intimidated by the 94% A. The tests are not that difficult, but you would have to go to class and take good notes. Attendance is not essential, but she also doesn't post her slides so COME TO CLASS!!
This class was really clear and easy to understand. It's more math based instead of theory based, but pretty simple and well explained math. Lectures are amazing and are the way to go. You don't really need to read the textbook but definitely take notes on lectures. Truly a gem in the econ department.
Rennhoff is the best Econ prof I've had at Vandy. She is incredibly caring, accessible, and truly wants her students to succeed. She is very knowledgeable and passionate about US health policy, and she made learning about it fun and engaging. Class is not difficult if you attend lectures, and you definitely don't need to read the textbook.
Professor Rennhoff is great. This class consists of 2 case write-ups, 3 exams, and a group presentation. Lectures are incredibly important to attend and you don't need to read the textbook. Study details about articles and important concepts because they can be more specific than you'd think.
Interesting class. Reviewing posted lecture slides and her review sheets are the best ways to study. Quizzes are very similar to homeworks. She's always willing to help during office hours.
Professor Rennhoff is hands down one of the best Econ professors at Vandy. She is so caring and kind, and her lectures are really clear and engaging. You can tell that she's really passionate about the subjects. Exams are really manageable as long as you go over the lectures, and homework sets are not too bad at all. Loved this class.
Professor Rennhoff cares about students and wants to see them succeed. This special topics class was interesting, and really easy to do well in. The tests were pretty simple math-based and definition based problems, and the lectures were very interesting. Quizzes are just like the homework.
The class was not too difficult, but I still feel like I learned a lot. Professor Rennhoff's lectures were easy to understand.
Fantastic lectures that, if you attend, you'll understand the material easily. I felt like I learned a lot, and she was always willing to answer any questions. Exams aren't hard as long as you follow the study guides.
Don't buy the book. Do attend lecture. TA review sessions are pretty helpful. As long as you do the basics in this class, you'll be more than fine.
Prof. Rennhoff is definitely the best Economic Statistics professor you could have. She gives detailed outlines about what the midterms will be on. Weekly quizzes consists of 1 question which is exactly like the optional HW. Super clear notes, allows you to collaborate on in-class questions, and SUPER straightforward if you took AP Statistics.
1. ur final exam is basically 50% of ur grade 2. always available for office hrs 3. a lil hard to talk to but a nice person u can tell 4. exams r much harder than practice problems + HW + quizzes 5. not much studying unless u cram b4 exam 6. very firm on grading, will not change / listen to args 7. explains concepts well in lecture 8. POP QUIZZES!!
2 midterms & a final, with the lower midterm grade replaceable by the final. SUPER clear lectures & accessible in office hours. All questions on the exams/quizzes are very similar to the weekly optional HWs. Be sure not to make too many mistakes on the midterms as 1 multiple choice question is worth 1% of your final grade. Overall a solid choice
An excellent choice for ECON 1500. She provides you with all of the resources you need to do well in this course. Just pay attention in lectures (take good notes) and do the homework problems. If you do this, you will be prepared for quizzes and exams (although make sure to spend ample time studying).
One of the best options for ECON 1500. If you took AP Statistics, it's super straightforward and simple.
Kind of boring/unorganized lectures. Often learned concepts in 10 mins on my own after class despite her teaching them for 75 mins. Exams sometimes gave questions about methods/concepts not covered in class/textbook/HW. Graded by few things so one mess-up = tanked grade. But, she is kind, accessible, and not work-heavy, so a good choice for stats.
U have to show up to class because usually 1 a week there are group problems u do in class and get credit if your names on it. the tests were very straight forward if you show up to class. helpful to go to class bc u learn a lot, but I skipped a few and was fine. she was nice and great at answering questions
Dr. Rennhoff is a very nice professor. Her class is very standard and fair. The content is interesting in my opinion. You definitely need to study for the tests but they are very indicative of what was gone over in lecture. I would take her again in another class if possible. The class has a great balance in terms of lectures and group work.
Rennhoff is probably one of the kindest professors that I've ever met at Vanderbilt. I loved taking Health Care Policy with her, and the class has been really informative regarding the U.S. healthcare system.
Didn't learn jack in her legal class. Boring as hell and she isn't that knowledgeable. Had students do presentations for like 1/3 of her classes because she probably ran out of material. Yawn.
Pretty easy class towards the beginning of the semester and towards the end it becomes more like a standard class. About 6 homework quizzes throughout the semester, in class questions that are guaranteed 100s but essentially force you to show up everyday, and 3 non cumulative exams. Best part about this class is how amazing Prof Rennhoff is
The best class I have taken at Vandy and probably the best professor in the department. Walked away every day with so much valuable knowledge. Tests are more specific than you may think, so make sure to commit enough time; otherwise, they are super straightforward. Rennhoff is simply the best there is. Take this class or one of her other ones!
Great and easy. Could have taught us more.
She is a fine person, but her class is unorganized. No Powerpoint. Lots of BORING-AS-HELL reading. Didn't read at all. Unnecessarily specific exams. I am a good student alright, but the class average is unreasonably high. RUN!!
This course was very unfair, boring, and graded by tough memorization based exams. She seemed to be nice towards the start of the semester but was not as such towards the end. Didn't learn much, as you are expected to cram and memorize many useless/specific points for exams. It felt as she definitely played favorites. Take a different course.
I did enjoy this class. She is very nice and is willing to help you learn. With that being said, the tests had some tricky problems which I found unfair. It is very easy to get an A- but extremely hard to get an A. The level of content in this class is rudimentary. Just make sure you memorize all the slides word for word.
Make sure to memorize everything. The material itself is easy, but the exams are worth so much that you have to make sure not to mess up on any of the questions. Fyi, the average on most of the exams were around 87-88, so getting an A- is not hard. Bar for an A is 94 though. Show up to class and you'll be guaranteed to get minimum B+.
Took it online so not sure how similar it is to in person, but I loved the class. Learned a ton, not just about econ but actually about our healthcare system in America. Rennhoff is great and was super open to any questions. Would definitely recommend.
The BEST professor, she makes everything digestible... just MEMORIZE the notes for the exams and they will be from everything she says in class
subject is simple and should be a fun elective, yet with the grading structure it was needlessly difficult to do well. You could understand a topic very very well and get unlikely with her tough exam grading and then be screwed for the rest of the semester. participation is basically mandatory for this 8am but exams are 75% of the credit
Professor is okay, grading is clear. In class questions are annoying because you don't know when they are so you have to go to class every time.
Anyone who doesn't like Rennhoff or her classes has got to just be lazy. If you go to class and have notes on everything she teaches, you have all you need for the test. Hands down the BEST choice for 2000 level elective for Econ
Awesome professor! One of the best in the Econ department. Clear grading criteria, no annoying weekly submissions. We do not have to turn in the homework. Most of the class are graded on quizzes as well as exams.
I don't know if it is just me, but this class is unnecessarily hard. I went to almost every lecture and it felt like the material on the exam was barely covered in class. The lectures weren't great, and the in-class presentations had barely any material on them. If you don't go to every class, you're pretty much guaranteed to get less than a B+.
Dr. Rennhoff is nice but it was difficult to understand the material at times. The tests are a major part of your grade and sometimes confusing. I would take another course if you are just looking for an easy A econ elective. Pretty interesting class though and def recommend for pre law.
Nice prof, good lecture. Not that hard to get A-, but quite difficult to get an A (Quizzes15%, in-class questions 5%, group presentation 5%, grading others presentations 1%, 3 noncumulative exams 23% each,1writing assignment 5%). MUST be at EVERY class since you dont know when she assign in-class questions, test can be hard due to tricky wording.
Super nice, expectations are clear, class is interesting
I loved this class and working with Prof. Rennhoff. The content can get complicated but she explains it a really simple way that made sense for me. Tests were tricky bc of wording but office hours were really helpful. Class content is a perfect mix of math and econ graphs and memorization content. This was one of my fave classes at Vandy.
Great professor and a great class. Super interesting class material and goes at a comfortable pace, making sure no one is left behind.
Sweetest, kindest prof! Learned a lot about insurance, healthcare, big pharma, etc. Clearly knowledgeable about econ and explains things very well. 3 tests worth 23% of your grade each with some trick questions on there, so not the easiest econ/MHS elective out there. Would def recommend if you have a genuine interest in the topic and go to class.
Rennhoff is incredibly nice and decent at explaining concepts, and the material is straightforward. Your grade almost entirely consists of quizzes and exams, but her questions are fine. Attendance is basically mandatory since she gives pop in-class questions and quizzes. This is one of the easiest ECON electives, so take it if you can wake up.
Great lectures. Knowledgeable about the subject and shares her interests with the class. 3 tests non-cumulative, yet attention to detail from lectures, so studying is quick but detail-focused. Participation matters, but if you listen in lecture, then studying is straightforward. Quizzes roughly every other week, no graded hw, one group presentation
Prof Rennhoff is amazing. She is so kind and supportive and really gets to know students. Her lectures are interesting. Go to class and take good notes and you'll be set for the exams. There's one short writing assignment and a group presentation. She does quizzes (you're told ahead of time) and in-class group questions. Great class.
Very caring person! Super knowledgeable on Econ and Healthcare. Makes the class interesting. Learned a lot. Feels like it is easy to get an A-, but very tough to get an A. Test can be challenging. However, nothing is cumulative. Grades fair on assignments and tests. Many True False questions on the Exam, which makes it clear if you are wrong.
She's the sweetest professor ever! The material she teaches in class is interesting that it motivates me to go to class everyday. There's no homework to turn in just quizzes (exactly like hw), the only thing is that if you miss class you should probably get notes form someone else since she spells everything out for you in class.
Prof. Rennhoff is great. Everything in the course is very straightforward and pretty interesting. If you take good notes, reviewing for the exams is easy. This is pretty much as easy as it gets for econ electives, so take it if you can. I also loved her southern accent.
I loved Dr. Rennhoff. She is super helpful in class and in office hours, incredibly caring, and the class is super interesting. Lectures are basically mandatory because of small in-class questions and a few easy quizzes, but honestly, I would go to lectures anyway. The exams are not too difficult as long as you take notes in class and study.
